Maybe I just feel this way because I have mixed feelings about musical Gelphie as a ship, but it seems to me that the way the musical fandom ships Gelphie reflects the ways that the musical is "the Glinda show." Personally, I can believe that Glinda might really be in love with Elphaba and not Fiyero, but I just don't see the same being true for Elphaba; her love for Fiyero and the trauma of losing him are too essential to her arc. Yet the fans insist that Fiyero is just comphet for both ladies.

Seriously, you took the words out of my mouth. I’ve re-read Wicked countless times during the years, even adapted it into a movie script, so I close read it pretty carefully. Romance-wise, Elphaba’s true love was definitely Fiyero. And no, it wasn’t comp het, either in Elphaba’s character or authorial (also, accusing Gregory Maguire of out-of-character comp het is just hilarious).

Let’s put aside the fact that Elphaba went into a trauma coma when she lost him, gave birth to his son during said coma, went to the Vinkus to ask forgiveness from his wife, lived there, worked tirelessly to find out what happened to Fiyero’s whole-ass family after they were captured by the Wizard’s guards, and ran his family estate for years. Let’s put all of that aside.

Fiyero was the only one in the whole damn book even to come close to matching Elphaba intellectually and philosophically. He even manages to challenge her on some points (and honestly, imo, he did gag her at some points). He even reached a level of empathy for the Animals on his own, witnessing an act of violence. And he risked his own life to protect Elphaba, even following her in her assassination attempt to Madame Morrible. And it was thanks to his influence that Elphaba ultimately refused to hurt others in order to kill Morrible (they literally had a whole conversation about collateral damage, with Elphaba prepared to accept it and Fiyero firmly against it). When he died, it was as if a key part of Elphaba had died as well. It was in that section that she truly became the Witch.

With Glinda, Elphaba would essentially be replicating her dynamic with Nessarose as glorified handmaiden, and this at best. Also, Glinda was never that great an influence on Elphaba in the books to begin with; the whole point of that section was Elphaba’s influence on Glinda. And Glinda did not go with her after their meeting with the Wizard, and Elphaba did not offer.

Even in the musical-verse, Fiyero actively chooses Elphaba and her cause. His support is ultimately why Elphaba chooses him. With Glinda, she would have to live in her world, work with the Wizard, and turn a blind eye over the injustices of Oz. And that is something Elphaba can’t or will not compromise, as she knows it would lead her into certain danger.

So I have a Joel & Lizzie meet cute idea for a modern AU I’m literally never going to write, so y’all can just have it:

Lizzie and her friends are out at a bar getting hassled by a group of guys that won’t leave them alone and won’t take no for an answer. Now Joel’s had a few drinks by this point, and drinking always makes him a little more reckless than he should be. And tonight, that recklessness looks like walking his 5’7 ass up to these douchbag 6 foot tall gym bros and telling them to fuck off and stop bothering these girls.

Unsurprisingly, Joel lets his mouth runs too much and one of the gym bros takes a swing. But surprisingly Joel is holding his own pretty well against them. Until a high pitched voice calls out from the groups of girls going “Stop hitting him, he’s just fun sized!” which is distracting enough that the gym bro finally lands a punch right across Joel’s jaw, sending him careening back into another table.

The bartender breaks up the fight, dragging both Joel and his opponent out the door. But then that same voice comes calling after them shouting “Don’t throw him out!” And it’s this tiny pink haired woman, who reminds Joel of both Sabrina Carpenter and a literal pixie. She grabs Joel’s arm and tells the bartender a story where Joel is both somehow a valiant protector and obviously not the aggressor because how can a little guy like this fight such a big strong man?? Joel would be offended if the woman wasn’t very pretty and also maybe saving his ass? But before he can figure out how to feel, he finds himself back inside, sat on a bar stool in the corner, with the very pretty pixie woman holding a towel full of ice against his jaw and introducing herself as Lizzie.

Bonus: after they get together, every time someone calls Joel short, Lizzie responds with “He’s not short, he’s taller than me!” And their friends eventually tire of saying that at 5 feet tall, everyone is taller than Lizzie.

seriously I don’t think any show has captured the pain of being a bystander more than miseinen. like i just can’t stop thinking about everything he’s told in this episode and everything he sees and how powerless he is to do anything about it. when you say bystander, you think of people that chose to do nothing, who just stand on the sidelines and watch but don’t get involved. and maybe that’s how minase started out, but this show proves over and over again that it’s not a choice anymore. given the choice and ability, minase would stand up and do something. he’s not the person anymore stood outside hirukawa’s house with the emergency number dialed but ultimately doesn’t do it. bc he cares too much now, and when you care, you want to help. but the world is so rigid in what they expect of him and hirukawa that there is no way to help.

i keep thinking about what the teacher said at the start of the ep. this doesn’t concern you. it’s already settled. don’t make your parents worry. when minase says he’s telling the truth, he’s told to focus on what’s important- and so the truth isn’t important here, neither is what hirukawa thinks or minase thinks. it’s what someone has already decided they are, and they are just too busy or just don’t care enough to go to the effort to see whether that decision is right. it doesn’t affect them whether hirukawa is the awful person they think he is or misunderstood, to them he’s just a part of the job they want to deal with and move on. even though no other adults are as present as hirukawa’s dad or minase’s mom, the show still has these small moments that show us that there is no other option for them to get help bc no one at school cares either. i said before they live in a world of ignorance where they’re unable to ignore, and so they deal with it all instead of being able to find help. and it feels equally horrible when you consider that unlike a parent, who yes should feel some responsibility or obligation but ultimately there’s nothing holding them to that, teachers are employed and paid to care, they should help these kids as much as they teach them, so to see them chose ignorance too is just as hurtful.

and back to minase, this episode showed us perfectly how much it can hurt when you know you can’t do anything. he can’t comfort hirukawa no matter how much he wants to if hirukawa won’t let him, he can’t change his mind and how he thinks of himself bc hirukawa’s trauma traps him in that mindset. he can’t stay by hirukawa’s side and support him if hirukawa sends him anyway, he can’t fight against what someone who’s hurting wants, all he can do is listen, bc no one ever listens to what hirukawa wants, so he will, even if it hurts him, even if he knows that it’ll hurt hirukawa too. minase is done with being a bystander but even here he is forced to be one, bc the truth doesn’t get through to hirukawa just like it didn’t get through to that teacher. what’s right, which would be to stay with hirukawa and help him, doesn’t matter just like it didn’t matter to that teacher, all he can do is listen and do as they say when people tell him to walk away, that he can’t do anything. and that’s why this show is excellent, bc it makes me feel the pain of knowing but being powerless just as much as I do the pain of actually experiencing these things.

(This is just a fun “what if” so bear with me-) I know we make mention of the potential for Krang remnants to be stuck with Raph and/or Donnie, but Mikey and Leo also had a moment with the other two where a type of Krang goop was crawling beneath their skin (this being immediately after Raph broke free.)

So I raise you the potential for all four of them to have a bit of that Krang parasite on them…and for that to have unforeseen consequences.

Back at it again with another theory: What if Lucanis’ betrayal wasn’t a betrayal at all?

(obviously, spoilers below the cut)

During The Wigmaker Job, we have some dialogue between Illario and Lucanis about their position within both the Crows and the Dellamorte family. Illario wants Caterina to step down so he can take the coveted First Talon spot. Lucanis reassures him that his time is coming, to which Illario makes a snide comment about whether his cousin would ever go against their grandmother’s wishes. When they continue the conversation after the job, Illario states that Lucanis is the potential heir, that he’s her favorite, and that he’s unlikely to say no to her. Lucanis doesn’t argue, only insists that he doesn’t want to be First Talon, and that he hopes she’ll see reason before that. It’s mentioned again in Eight Little Talons - Caterina favors Lucanis. It’s well-known enough among the Crows that Viago and Teia discuss it in front of her (not on purpose, but she doesn’t deny it). He’s her prodigy through and through.

In the opening scene for the Lucanis quest in Veilguard, Caterina is poised, as you’d expect of the First Talon. She’s certain that the body they buried wasn’t her grandson, that it had been altered with blood magic. She doesn’t pose it as a theory, though: she poses it as a fact. It could, of course, merely be her confidence, but there’s another very unusual aspect to the scene – everyone else discusses how Lucanis was clearly betrayed, that someone must have sold him out in order for the Venatori to capture him. Caterina is the only one in that room who never speaks on it. She doesn’t ask for justice, doesn’t mention vengeance, never acknowledges that her grandson was sold out by someone he trusted – perhaps because he wasn’t. 

What if, when Caterina comes to him with a plan, with an impossible request, he’s still her favorite prodigal grandchild, and he still does whatever she asks? She’s had him tortured before as a child, has tortured and starved and beaten him herself before, because it makes him stronger and more resistant to it in the future. He says in The Wigmaker Job that he used to hate her for it, but now he understands. He justifies it. All Crows justify it, because they have to - if they don’t, then the cruelty wasn’t for survival’s sake, and their suffering meant nothing. Perhaps he doesn’t even question it. When Caterina tells him that she has a job for him, he takes it. 

What if the contract has a caveat? Sure, Calivan must die by his hand by the end of it, a little treat for a job well done, but what if his primary mission is reconnaissance, is discovery? The Venatori are using blood magic to torture and corrupt prisoners. It would behoove the Crows to find out what it entails and how to resist it, before it’s turned back on them. It would have to be someone so deeply, unabashedly loyal to her that when she asked them to infiltrate a Venatori prison, expecting torture at best, their own death at worst, they’d take the job anyway, no questions asked - someone Caterina can trust, certainly, but also someone who has never once said no to her.

And Lucanis has always been a loyal grandson.

“You know what I just can’t figure out?” 

Amira circled him slowly. 

“That for however many times I’ve hit this button, you still wear that sullen expression on your face.”

She looked down at him as she spoke, sharp eyes meeting nothing. His gaze was firmly affixed to her shoes. 

“What I can’t figure out,” she took a step towards him. “Is that despite all of our,” she paused, “convincing, you continue to refuse to cooperate.” 

She was close now. He still didn’t dare look up. He realized he could hear the electric hum of the gadgets she wore around her wrists and waist. He could hear the half-distant buzzing of the tiny radio in her ear. 

Too close.

“Despite the fact that you know we require so little, and that doing what I say would grant you better treatment, effective immediately.”

Sora’s neck burned. 

He saw—felt—her hand lower towards her left bracelet and he flinched, he felt the muscles in his neck seize—

After a second, he realized she hadn’t touched it— her hand was back on her hip. 

She hadn’t pressed it. 

Hadn’t even touched the remote. 

Amira frowned. 

“You want me to press it for real this time?” she asked, a momentary drop of irritation in an otherwise cool facade. 

“Rather, not just yet. I think if I could simply shock this attitude out of you, it would’ve happened by now.”

Beneath a mess of ash-brown hair, Sora’s eyes widened slightly, but remained trained on that place on the floor. Hovering somewhere on the laces of her boots. 

“You’re lucky I’m so patient. I’m willing to work with you on that. So let’s try something else. Something a little more… out of the box.”

He had barely the time to process her words before—

“Yoojin!*

That snapped him out of it. There was a loud clanging sound, like metal slamming into the concrete wall. Sora winced at the sound, his eyes squeezed shut. It just made the ringing in his ears that much worse. 

He registered Amira stepping away from him, and he briefly, stupidly, felt grateful for the reprieve. 

Then, he heard that terrible, stupid laugh for a second time that afternoon. 

“Fiiiiinally….” Yoojin’s low chuckle reverberated off the walls. 

Sora audibly groaned. He already felt like he was getting a live lobotomy from the inside out. His head sank down to his chest. He was too fucking dizzy for this. 

Not this fucking guy. 

“I was losing my mind back there, you know.”

Sora scoffed. “Too late. She’s already tried ‘bad cop.’

“Oh, you haven’t seen bad cop.” 

He could almost feel it before it even happened. He didn’t see her do it, leaning against the back wall of the room as she was now. But Amira’s finger had tapped at the remote on her wrist, and it had sent white hot pain shot through Sora’s throat—squeezing and twisting the tendons on his neck into a horrible knot that forced his chin down and his features to contort with the pain and the voltage, as though stretched apart so tightly they’d break entirely. 

“Why the—why the fuck—cant you—j- just— turn it—around—fuck—why the fuck is it— is it — .. “ 

‘Why was the voltage box on the collar pressed against the front of your neck?” Amira asked, like she was inside his head.  He thought it had come out less than intelligible. 

“Call it a happy accident.” Amira turned, collected the tablet from the nearby table, and promptly strode toward the exit. 

Sora could feel his eyes on him the moment Amira shut the door behind her.

 “Shit, you don’t look so good, hot-shot.” Yoojin’s voice echoed over the silence, smiling through every word. 

The hot-shot in question was promptly trying to look anywhere but right in front of him, trying to think of anything but the reality of who he had just been left alone with, who just happened to be, in Sora’s fine opinion, the worst one he had met so far. 

“I think it’s time we hear you scream for real. Cmon, I know you can do better than whatever that was.”

Yep, definitely the worst. He’d be surprised if any of these half-witted mafia goons could come up with a worse bastard-piece-of-shit-asshole than this guy. 

“Frankly, I was just surprised you took so many shocks without fucking passing out.” 

Ohh.. to rip this fucker’s tongue out so he’d finally— “Shut the fuck up.”

“Yeah? Giving me ideas?” Yoojin audibly smirked, and Sora looked up just in time to see him sticking out his tongue and making a scissors motion with his free hand. 

He was goating him again. It was no different. Different day, same Yoojin. Sora was so sick of this game. 

But he shut up after that, which left him with nothing to do but hang there by his wrists as Yoojin crossed the warehouse floor, taking his sweet fucking time. 

He willed the pain in his shoulders to distract him from whatever braindead thing Yoojin would say next. 

But he didn’t hear his voice, at least not right away—only a low scraping, trailing along behind nearly quiet footsteps. He was dragging something behind him. Sora could hear it screeching along the concrete, and the pain in his head throbbed—he was so fucking dizzy. 

Okay, maybe he was a little concussed. 

Or just shocked fucking stupid. 

The muscles in his throat twitched again, at the mere thought. 

“What, not even a hello?”

Sora still didn’t look up. Fuck this guy. Sora could hear him smiling. 

The footsteps stopped, taking the awful dragging sound with it.

Sora didn’t look up. 

“Cmon, you didn’t miss me even a little?”

Sora didn’t even want to entertain him. 

“Nothing to say? Aren’t you gonna at least tell me what a big piece of shit I am? Better get some insults out while you still can, right?” 

His boot nudged Sora’s exposed ribs, teasingly, and Sora momentarily lost his focus on that spot on the ground and snapped his gaze up to Yoojin, eyes wild and furious. 

“If you’re asking me to insult you—“

Yoojin’s boot slammed right into his stomach. Sora coughed hard as the wind was gutted from his lungs and his entire body collapsed and cringed over. He rather fruitlessly tried to fold in half as he wheezed and gagged his way back to functioning airways, but the awkward position prevented him. His knees stayed folded below him, his arms strained above his head, yanking against the chains that affixed them to the ceiling, 

“I’m asking if you’d even dare.”

Sora would fucking skin him alive. 

“Go fuck yourself you piece of shi—“ but his words died in his mouth when he saw Yoojin’s hand approach. 

Yoojin gripped his jaw, wrapping around his face before Sora yanked his head away. The sudden movement sent a loud clang down the chains and shot pins and needles through his arms. 

He hadn’t realized they’d fallen asleep. 

Fine. No more sudden movements. Sudden movement fucking hurt. His sore muscles seemed to boil and seize as fresh blood reunited with oxygen-starved tissue. 

“Piece of. Shit.” Sora finished. 

In the time he’d caught his breath, Yoojin had re-strategized. Sora felt fingers along his scalp, roughly grazing before twisting a tight fist into his hair. Yoojin yanked his head back all the way until Sora let out a choked cry.

This was quickly becoming a favorite of his. It always seemed to shut Sora up right away.

“You don’t wanna play nice? Fine. I’ve got something new I’ve been wanting to try out.” 

As if there was ever another option with Yoojin. As if he knew the first fucking thing about playing nice.

Yoojin released his hair and Sora’s head fell forward. He squinted his eyes and flexed the muscles in his neck, trying to ease the tightness at the strain of the past few moments. 

Sora hadn’t even noticed Yoojin had left his side until he felt something sharp press into his back. He felt his blood run cold instantly, nearly freezing in his veins. He felt his heart slow—almost stop—like it would let his cells drift, suspended, through the cold, liquified sludge. 

A knife? A box cutter? What was it? It felt bigger than that. Sturdier, somwhow. But it had an edge. 

“Come on. Whatever you’re planning can you just get it over with?  I’m trying to limit the amount of hours per day I have to see your fucking face.” 

“How sad. It’s like you don’t care at all about having fun. Are you really gonna just sulk the whole time?” 

“I fucking hate you,” Sora seethed. 

Yoojin smiled wide. He seemed to like the insults. It was part of the game to him, Sora had gleaned. 

“Am I going to have to get creative?” He leaned down to Sora’s eye-level. “‘Cuz I’ve got a lot of new ideas, you know. You’re quite a fun assignment.”

Yoojin was too close to cloose—wayyy too close. Again. He leaned in until their noses nearly touched. Sora grimaced. Yoojin smiled. That look was back in his eyes again. 

“You’re inspiring. You really are.”

Sora grimaced. What the fuck was that even supposed to mean??

Yoojin must have read his face, because he continued. 

“I was so fucking bored before you showed up. You know that?”

Sora blinked.

“She had me benched for, like—over a month, I swear. For some fucking stupid reason.”

Sora cocked an eyebrow.

Yoojin frowned. “Shut the fuck up. Don’t even say it.”

“I was gonna say I could name a few—”

Yoojin’s nostrils flared—he swung a roundhouse straight into Sora’s ribs. 

Sora coughed sharply, doubling over for a moment before straightening, his eyes watering.

“…Reasons.”

Yoojin grit his teeth and let out a frustrated grunt as he made contact a second time.

“You think you’re so fucking funny, huh?”

Sora choked on another breath, failing to stay upright. This one must’ve hit something deeper—softer. Organs and all that, Yoojin considered absently.

For a moment, all Yoojin could hear was the ragged sound of Sora’s breathing and the heavy pound of blood in both their ears. Just long enough for him to think Sora would finally shut his stupid mouth for once.

Sora coughed again, voice hoarse.

“Well, someone here has to be.”

i may be alone on this one but as someone with multiple severe phobias i extremely dislike when characters overcome their fears (i understand it for character development and its a super common arc). i especially ESPECIALLY HATE DESPISE LOATHE it when characters “overcome their phobias” I HATE IT

like i said i’m probably alone on this but i would much rather see them work around it

okay but can we talk about how ???? Lucius is with Edward? Like this man is a freak I can’t hold it in anymore. How did one episode make a man get revealed as a fucking freak in a way.

Ed has both gassed up a entire group of cops which made them fear about a poison threat he made up, held Lucius’s coworker hostage dangling over a flight of stairs, admitted to having something to do with their missing mayor via omission (not responding at all when Lucius asked him about it) broke into Lucius’s car and pointed a gun at him once Lucius got in ALL IN THE SAME DAY AND HE DOESN'T FREAK OUT ONCE???? He doesn’t freak out at all with Edward. Never once does he freak out. He stays level headed, empathetic and genuinely caring about Edward’s mental state while talking to him???? The way he’s so level headed here feels like he has a fucking screw loose in his cranium. Literally how.

Mind you Ed is a man who his first interaction with was ED ADMITTING HE HAD A MISSING COP IN HIS HOME VIA A RIDDLE. HIS SECOND INTERACTION WITH THIS MAN IS HIM MAKING HIM ANSWER FUCKING RIDDLES IN ARKHAM OR ELSE HE WILL KILL THEM BOTH WITH POISON. I KNOW HE WAS BLUFFING ABOUT THE POISON HERE AGAIN BUT GENUINELY HOW IS HE ALWAYS LEVEL HEADED WITH THIS MAN. FREAK BEHAVIOR!!!!

Also him acting like this strengthens the fact the only riddle he got right was reflection. He understands at least some part of Ed. Even though that part is small and fuzzy in his understanding, it’s still something. It’s still something that he can empathize with. Something that is worth trying to understand more of even despite their brief encounters. God do I love his weird push over ways with Ed it’s so fucking fun I wish they interacted more. This is horrific for me

Look it’s like. PAINFULLY obvious that Anya got sexually abused by Jimmy, and she’s clearly dealing with the horrific ramifications and circumstances that she is forced to deal with I mean. She like. Has to ask her rapist. To force pain pills. Down a her captains throat. Like holy shit. ANYWAY

There seems to be a big trend of painting curly as this like. Perfect person though. Look he was a good guy! He was a good captain and knew how to get his team together and unite as a unit but, he is, unfortunately, going to fall into the pitfall that men often do, and try to justify his shit ass friends actions and try to shirk off Anya’s worries and fears and SEXUAL TRAUMA as something he can “talk out with his good lifelong buddy” and wont let Anya feel safe with any means of protection. He doesn’t think his friend could be that malicious. That evil. That horrible. It’s ignorant, and it’s hurtful and traumatizing to Anya.

And then I see mfers like.,,. Putting Anya and curly together like good couple or smrh like guys.,,.. guys let her rest.,,. She’s had enough.,… let her go to the pink pony club,,,.
