to be honest i don't think i go through a single commute to or from work without thinking about how rocket would respond to the latest bit of terran culture you're showing him. when he was spending time on terra during the snap, he noticed steve’s little pocket-journal checklist of movies and books and shows to get caught up on. well, he didn’t just notice it — he might’ve maybe possibly swiped it — and once he trusted you enough to know you weren’t gonna fuckin narc on him, he decided to show it to you. he asks questions about the various titles, and steve’s notes scrawled in the margins. the two of you started there.

rocket isn’t quite as prejudiced against actors as many of his fellow guardians, but he does approach the idea of movies and tv with a healthy dose of skepticism. you probably start out with some documentaries, and he loves those. he’s enthralled by the ones about outer space — appreciating what they’ve gotten right and snickering about what they got wrong, getting a little weepy when the narrator makes some poignant philosophical observation. he stares at the screen with something that wrenches at your heart when you turn on the nature docs, those cut-ruby eyes turning into something soft and molten, silvered over with a yearning you’re sure he doesn’t even recognize inside himself.

you might think he’d be a fan of true crime, but no — not unless it’s someone scamming a big corporation or stealing from some hubristic rich bastard, or maybe the occasional murderer who accidentally confesses his crimes on a hot mic. the truth is that rocket’s already personally familiar with some of the worst true crime in the galaxy and he just sort of assumes that’s how things operate at large. why’s he need to watch people talk about?

it’s this kind of thinking that impacts the kind of fictional shows and movies he ends up liking, too — once you finally convince him that acting is more about storytelling, and less about lying or trying to wear someone else’s skin. you’d think he’d be super-into horror but he’s very — selective about it. murderers, slashers, and body horror (especially of the medical variety) are not in his wheelhouse. he gets anxious in the worst sort of way: impatiently twitching on the couch next to you, chewing on his claws. he rolls his eyes but his shoulders stay tense and his tail is puffs up three times it’s normal size. he might occasionally snort and scoff at how fake things look but again, that’s only because he knows.

and he wishes he didn’t.

supernatural horror is much more palatable to him, and alien-based horror is usually hilarious as far as he’s concerned. space dramas and adventures have an unpredictable impact. he says star wars is too dramatic (wild coming from someone who has since decided he loves reality dating shows) and gets weirdly emotional about star trek. and you have to repeatedly remind him that neither the aliens franchise nor killer clowns from outer space are documentary series (he has some weird hang-ups about terran clowns and will dryly tell you that he’s pretty sure they’ve tried to kill him in another life). he’s extremely and overly fascinated by some of the weirder terran horror and horror-adjacent media: cult classics from the 80s and 90s, Tales from the Crypt, Twilight Zone — some of those weird old fantasy movies too, like the labyrinth and company of wolves. you always indulge him, trying to remind him of what’s fiction and what’s not, and what loosely straddles the line of being based on a true story (even though sometimes you have to fight with the urge to roll your eyes when he points at the screen and says, no, that’s real, i been to a planet like that!).

you learn he has an uncanny eye for CGI. looks weird, he grunts every time something rendered crosses the screen. very into practical effects, though. he spent an inordinate amount of time trying to make a claymation sequence of the collapse of ego — the living planet, that is; not some great philosophical metaphor — and took over your kitchen for two months to do it. you’d expected him to get bored of it quickly, but you’d misunderstood just how fixated he’d been. he’d stopped taking pete’s comms for the entire last three weeks and had barely slept at all till it had been done.

he’s equally selective about games. classic shooters bore him — why bother when you can go do the real thing with any despot-of-the-week? — but he kind of loves cozy games. he enjoys horror games as long as they follow his horror movie rules, too — minimal lifeform-on-lifeform torture, heavy on the supernatural or other weirdness. poppy’s playtime is a current fave. he loves dnd, of course. once he figures out the mechanics he always wants to dm because he’s got more control issues than a freighter full of ravagers, but you haven’t missed the fact that that he’s got a recurring favorite character that he pulls out regardless of which side of the dm screen he’s on — a shockingly wise and kind aquatic sorceress named lylla, with the gentlest healing vibes. it rattles you the first time he plays her — so at odds with his normal snark — but you decide it’s just his way of letting his soft side shine through when he normally tries to hide it under prickly defensiveness.

it might surprise you (or maybe not), but he’s far less picky about music, to be honest. sure, he’s got preferences — certain songs he’ll play on repeat, or jam out to, or weep over. but he’s just as excited to clone a taylor swift record as he is to get his hands on some iron maiden. he’s got something surprisingly positive to say about every single song you ask after.

that one’s real catchy, he’ll say, bopping along to dolly’s 9 to 5 — only to then croon his way through the lingering notes of jolene. then the next time you see him he’s asking how he can secure more tupac albums.

he gets all teary-eyed over the sweeping strings of sometime around midnight, then later tilts his head, ears flickering, to drink in the light starlit notes of single acoustic guitars and lonely pianos. he’s as greedy for 90s grunge as he is for screamo and post-rock. sometimes he steals your phone and it’s usually just to download a nirvana album you once had him listen to, but just last week you realize he’d blown a sizable portion of your grocery budget by buying the entire babymetal discography.

he explains it to you one late autumn evening when you’re in your room with him, introducing him to seventeen seconds. the two of you are just chilling. he’s traded in his jumpsuit for the kids’ sweatpants and the hoodie you bought him — the one with the ears — and of course you very wisely don’t tell him how stupidly cute it is. the sun’s going down and the room is slanting and pooling with blue-and-gold shadows slowly deepening into purple, and you’ve lit a couple caramel-apple candles for the vibe. maybe you’ve got mugs of warm spiced apple cider or cocoa or something. he’s sprawled on the rug on your floor and you’re leaning over the edge of the bed, with the entire musical archive of the cure, woven liberally with a random joy division album, some merciful nuns, and other collections from your personal library of favorites.

he’s super-into it, of course.

this sound is somethin’ else, he tells you as he stares up at the shadows. The candlelight is reflecting off some unknown surface in your room, casting flecks of fractured light across the deepening dark of the ceiling. his blunted claws tap a steady rhythm on the floor beside him.

you say that about every song, you tell him drily, and he shrugs.

but i mean it, he tells you in the gold-flickering darkness. there’s a long silence, and you think he’s just listening to the music — but halfway through dope, he suddenly breaks his silence.

i ain’t exactly the most emotionalistically-intelligent, he says quietly into the room. don’t trust myself to know when someone’s good or bad. there was a guy, when i was a kid — well. anyway. it’s frickin hard to trust anybody, myself most of all.

you wait to see if he’ll go on — but he doesn’t. at least not till you say, i get that. there’s good people out there, but the worst are usually so good at tricking us. and then it’s easy to second-guess ourselves — forever.

from the corner of your eye, you see him nod emphatically.

not in music, though, he says quietly. you hear him swallow — painfully hard. i think — music’s when people tell you most about what they are. even when it’s hard to understand at first. when there ain’t any words.

you tilt your head, allowing him the privacy of not looking directly at him. instead, you study the flickering candlelight and shadow, painting amber and dark-velvet patterns on the ceiling. that’s why you like every song? you ask at last.

that swallow again, hard as a rock in his throat. i dunno. maybe it means something, when someone gives a part of ‘emselves like that. to you — a stranger. just — serve themselves up like a gift for your judgement.

ah, you think. the vulnerability.

as if he’d heard you, he snorts. me personally? i’d never risk it.

even now, you can feel him watching you uneasily from the corner of his eye — waiting for you to mock him, maybe. but you only hum an agreeable note.

i never thought of it that way, you admit, but it’s true. you smile at the ceiling. and you said you weren’t emotionally intelligent.

he huffs, but the sound is more relieved than annoyed. i ain’t, he snipes. and then — more tentatively — maybe that’s part of it too.

you feel your eyebrows raise, but you still don’t look his way — cradling the back of your head with your hands while the music continues in around you, and smell of warm caramel apples fills the soft shadows between you. what do you mean?

softer now — almost nervous — he confesses to the darkness and the gold light and the sound of lady gaga’s voice. every time i listen to a new song, s’like I find something in myself i didn’t have before. or didn’t know i had before. or that i thought had died.

your heart stills in your chest and your breath catches, and everything in you suddenly aches. before you can say a word — before you can think — he spits a scoff into the air.

never mind. i was kidding. that’s fuckin’ stupid—

no, you interrupt quickly, and it takes everything in you not to turn over and catch his eyes and hold them. not to reach out and hold his hands, because you know he’s not willing to accept that level of comfort.

not yet. but soon.

so instead, you make your voice into the softest thing you’ve ever imagined. no sharp edges, no corners to cut himself on. just downy well-worn blankets and soft crumpled love-notes, happy welcome homes and the warm caramel of autumn apples. you will it go wrap around him and give him all the comfort he won’t let himself accept any other way.

About the Admin and Blog

Hello hello! I'm the Admin, I use (they/he/it) pronouns! For years I have read and consumed canon x reader insert content, and decided it's about time I give back to the community!

This is a multi fandom blog, with the blog changing with my interests! by default, though, Creepypasta is what I write when no interest is pushing me enough to right (and will continue to be the default for the foreseeable future, thanks to the fandom playing such a large role in my childhood)

This blog mainly focuses on short lists of headcannons for reader inserts, however occasionally scenarios will be posted as well as general headcannons!

I must say, I am not the best writer nor am I the best with characterization, so please note that some characters may be OOC

Below you can find what I write!

What I will write:

As of 12/24/23 I only take 1-3 characters per ask; any ask that exceeds that number will be put in the wheel to draw names to see who stays in the request

I write platonic, romantic, and found family

I will write most (descriptive)!readers however overly complex readers may be denied depending on the scenario

Typically I write hcs and scenarios!

You can ask for readers that are disabled or have a disorder but please note that while I will do research, I may not be able to get it perfect <\3

Honestly? He’s got mixed feelings on the cute aspect. He thinks it’s hot but mostly because of the potential for corruption. He would never admit it, but your cheery personality makes him feel a teeny bit sappy.

You’ll get into some arguments with him if you have the same “good in everyone” mentality towards his victims. He’s stubborn and that’s one of many things he refuses to change for you.

But when you talk to him like that he adores you. He thinks it’s naive, but he can’t help but love the attention. Nobody has ever thought of him like that. Not once when he was alive, and definitely not after he died.

He’s only fueled by your laughter. If you thought he made a lot of jokes before, just wait. He’s constantly going to try to make you laugh. He loves it.

But then all of a sudden when he gets threatened and you get protective? He’s going to be even more obsessed. Again he finds it hot. Will give survivors the upper hand every once in a while just to see you do it again.

And he WILL let you know what he thinks. A lot. He’ll try and provoke you to get you to be tough and scary around him.

He loves both sides. He really wants to get you to kill someone for him. He’ll ask you about it a lot. If he could convince you to even just be bait, he’d be thrilled.

Asa Emory

Your bubbly personality is what made him take you. He saw your smile and heard you giggle and all of a sudden he was planning another kidnapping. You’re special to him, he doesn’t see anyone like that very often.

Carves bugs into the trunk he’s going to take you with. Fireflies, butterflies, grasshoppers, you name it. He gives you the nickname “Bee”.

You’re by his side a lot of the time. He doesn’t want to risk letting you out of his sight in case you slip away.

He’s pretty upset that you’re not as cheerful an addition to his collection. He expected it, but he’s still mad about it. He treats you more like he treated Abby. You have your own room, he brings you nice clothes and gifts. You get treated less harshly once he decides he wants you to smile again.

And it tugs on his heartstrings hard when you try and see the good in him. So naive, so easily misled. So foolish. But he loves it. It only furthers his obsession.

If he sees you get defensive over him after you finally open up to him, it’s over. He’s keeping you forever, end of story. He already decided that he was, but this just furthers it. Now he takes you out just to see if it’ll happen again.

TOM GURNEY HEADCANONS

That’s an autistic boy if i ever did see one. Tom is me i am tom. The no shoes thing is definitely a sensory issue, i like to think its the socks more than its the shoes, likely the seams around the toes. I feel like if tom is forced to wear socks and shoes he’s got very specific sensory needs. Absolutely no ankle socks, those were sent by the government to make your ankles feel like they’re being strangled by their oppressive regime, only gym socks pulled up as far as they can physically stretch with sneakers that are tied so tight he takes them off and there’s an indent of the laces on his foot and absolutely zero circulation from the ankle down

Tom runs a very successful horror blog, he talks about behind the scenes info for his favourite movies and also provides ratings of movies both new and old. It’s really funny to watch him in the cinema because he sits with a little norepad and makes notes the whole time so he can come up with a decicive score on the blog. He spends a lot of time in the movies, its where most of the money he threatens out of other students ends up. He goes to watch movies a minimum of 5 times to make sure he didn’t miss any details or lose any plot points that might bump up his initial scores. He has a secret spreadsheet and everything, its insane commitment, but special interest is gonna special interest, am i right gamers?

A very very good student when he applies himself, especially as a creative writer, if you look past all the blood, gore, and general slasher rapiness in his works you can definitely see all the signs of a promising novelist or screenwriter. In the poetry department, he’s not so stellar. Tom is still of the mindset that all poems must rhyme and are generally quite superficial and pointless pieces of writing. And they’re completely separate to all the private free form stuff he writes in his journal from time to time. Those aren’t poems at all they’re just… succinct vents

Tom is also a greatly talented drummer, the kid has rhythm all the way up to his eyeballs, and if he wasn’t so scared i think he’d be a great asset to bullworth’s marching band. But he knows he’d get torn to shreds by his friends so he stays well enough way no matter how hard miss peters begs for him to try out. He borrows a drum kit Russel keeps in his garage and practices using karaoke tracks of songs he illegally torrented onto his iPod, no sheet music, just vibes.

Tom’s face bruise is actually part bruise and port wine stain birthmark, hence why it stays that lovely purple hue forever. The redness in his eye is from repeated blows to the head from both friends and foes but the purple skin around his eye is (mostly) just birthmark

The rest of his bruises are actually just from minor injuries. I think tom has elhers danos syndrome (EDS) so the kid bruises like a peach. Minor bumps from passersby in the busy halls of bullworth leave him looking like he was in a full on beat down. Tom has the hots for angie (at least in my save he does) so he tries to act like a sweetheart whenever he’s around her. He knows that she knows he’s a bully but i think tom really wants to show her that he’s more than that, he’s better than that. Tom doesnt even like being a bully all that much, it’s just the hard facts of life at bullworth that you’re either in or out, and god knows he wouldn’t last a day if he was out.

I want to get my thoughts out on this because I think I'm starting to really figure out what it is I dislike so much about certain parts of Homestuck. Looking at different forms of media really helped put things into perspective.

I watched a YouTube video recently about metal vs nu metal fans. A fan of nu metal claimed that metal / hard rock fans usually talk about obscure concepts, like sex or satan or war. And nu metal fans sang mostly about "this is what I'm going through, this is how I feel." I like nu metal but it does feel like it's more for teens or more like a joke. It really seems that way when compared to something like Black Sabbath or even newer bands like Jinjer. If you listen to Nu metal there is a lot of "I" "Me" maybe the occasional "In my self-righteous suicide."

There is something about nu metal that feels more immature, it's fun but there is still this childish quality to it. It's more whiny. Now, this is the pot calling the kettle black, I am the empress of whiny. I know whiny when I hear it.

You can hear the difference in tone perfectly here, "I play Russian Roulette every day, a man's sport. With a bullet called life." VS. "Day of judgement, God is calling. On their knees, the war pigs crawling. Begging mercy for their sins. Satan laughing, spreads his wings."

Listening to people talk about nu metal reminded me of how Indie fiction reads now. "This is my life, I hate my dad!" Of course, everyone puts themselves into their writing and art, that's kind of how expression works. The thing is that now characters are straight up self inserts. Everything comes off like it's a venting session, there isn't really any part of these stories that even read like a power fantasy, which is the fun part.

This also reminds me of the difference between everything we read in Acts 1-3 vs how Act 5 started to focus a bit more on drama, but it was still so fast paced that and abstract. Eridan and Feferi's relationship still felt abstract because killing people's guardians to feed a princess's mom is kind of an insane plot. It's so alien and removed from reality. That's the part that makes it entertaining.

Then the Alpha Kids come in and it's nonstop "This is how I feel. I'm confused. I'm trying to figure myself out. I'm so in love and I'm going to focus on that, oh yeah, there is an alien empress trying to use me and my friends." The story didn't have anything for the characters to do for a while too so it was nothing but looking at the characters flaws. I notice how many of the fans still in the fandom like that part about Act 6, that it's about "identity." Though I argue it isn't. Act 6 to me is more about "confusion." And the "Confusion tone" we sat through was married with the "Isolation and separation" tone the story always had. I dislike the tone Act 6 gave us. I think most everyone who checks this blog does. But, I suppose this is just how things kind of go over time.

Any art form or genre or trope will be played straight but then as the idea deviates it becomes more and more of a joke. It's somewhat like how slasher films were on the way out until scream was made as satire. And then scary movie later parodied that satire film.

I'm not saying anything novel by pointing out Homestuck has now turned into a full blown parody of itself but it's gone through maybe five cycles of this so far. I think we just experienced the tone of Homestuck 2 change again.

I'm not sure yet, but doesn't it seem different? This newer vibe the story is running with seems more "the writers are horny for the characters and hiding it behind a thin veil" and "I know we're going into battle but don't forget who my main love interest is. Man I hate how much I love Dave because everyone knows who you end up with defines you! Right, Kanaya?"

It's still an immature vibe but it also feels better than what we've had for years. I'm still not sold this is an improvement. The characters still seem so selfish, focus on their own feelings and not the world around them. Key word is focused. At least now they are fighting for something, but their enemy should have never been Jane. They can not write themselves out of this hole. SKILLED writers would have tried to get the Candy universe out of the way as quickly as they possibly could. I see no real skill here but I do see some promise. Talent and skill aren't the same thing. Creativity doesn't mean much without tactful execution.

And I'm preventively going to agree Homestuck has always been immature and childish but it was more fun when it didn't take everything so personally.

It really did stop becoming a story that has silly and/or epic moments with the characters. Developing the characters' personal issues, their dreams, and relationships are fine. But the execution of it makes them kind of insufferable. It says nothing about them as people besides being assholes. Characters like the Beta Kids, were set up to grow and become better people. That the audiences and readers themselves, will take that lesson to heart and do the same for the real world. And if they do cool or funny stuff, it will be a lot memorable not only for the character, but the scene they are in too. We only got characters acting like rude assholes or being morons and the people behind it trying to justify it. Like the bullshit reason why John Egbert didn't use his wind powers to stop the bomb blowing up his home when the first sign of someone getting hit with the Retard Stick became obvious as the writers try to justify that John was in some emotional state and his dumbfuck mistakes had to be pointed out BY OTHER CHARACTERS WITHIN THE STORY. The authors themselves don't try to correct it or apologize for what they did. They try to give crappy reasons for why things go the way they did, not wanting to admit they fucked up in the story telling department. And it happened again when Vrissy confused psiionic and psychic and HICU trying to say in a Patreon post that Vrissy was just retarded because she skipped school lessons as a reason why she made that error. I get that it's hard to admit mistakes. We are all human and too prideful. But I think guys like WhatPumpkin and now James Roach with HICU, making lots of excuses to save face. They really want to believe they are talented writers, but in actuality, they are not as great. Them denying their faults just makes them worse.

What would happened if you get to meet this boi again after the movie’s events ? Maybe Reader could have a kind of "telepathic" ability Simion wanted to experiment on, which may explain their presence to the hospital.

A familiar voice had been itching at the back of their minds for weeks. At first it was faint, almost unnoticeable. Madison had brushed it off the first time she heard it clearly: she figured she must have needed more rest and was hearing things due to a lack of sleep. Adjusting their sleep schedule, however, did not make it stop. 

"Emily?"

"Can you see me?"

"Please see me."

"Emily, is that you?"

"Do you remember me?"

She would still hear it at the grocery store, on her commute to and sometimes from work, even at the coffee shop she frequented. Some days were quiet, others would have multiple instances of the voice seeping through the cracks in her concentration.

On another such day, she had been making her way down the frozen section and marking items off of their shopping list when it came again. Annoyed and assuming Gabriel started playing mind games with her again, she finally confronted him. Madison held her phone to her ear to signal him that she wanted to talk– something they did mostly when they were in public, to avoid stares. She tapped on the back of her head to wake up Gabriel, almost as if knocking on his bedroom door.

"Gabriel, would you knock that off? It's great that you've learned to mimic voices, but could you please not use them to get under my skin any more than you already do?"

"I don't know what you're talking about. I haven't learned or even tried to mimic voices. I like my own. Besides, you just woke me up."

"Well, there's no way I can be hearing something that you don't. So if it's not you, what else could it possibly be?"

"Actually," he started, voice clearer as he fully woke, "I have been hearing something too."

"Oh? Whe–when does it happen? Is it familiar? What does it say when you hear it?" Madison bites nervously at their fingernails as she finds an unpopulated corner to park her shopping cart as they talk.

"Geez, let me think about it for a minute," he paused. After a pensive hum, he spoke up, "I hear it the most at the Library, and that coffee place we go to. And I think I've heard it at the record store, too, once."

"Well? And?"

"It's… the voice itself is unfamiliar, but something about it really gets me– it might be the cadence, or the rhythm."

She sighed, frustrated. She thought the same, but it still got them nowhere, besides only slightly convincing her that he wasn't just pulling her chain.

"How much do you remember from Simion?"

"Not much… though, some of it has been coming back to me in the year since you've… uh."

"I see."

"Why?"

"Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I think the voice belongs to someone we knew from Simion."

"I thought you killed them all."

A nearby shopper nervously glanced at Madison and quickly pushed their cart away.

He huffed, "I only killed the doctors that stole my body."

"And more than a few orderlies. Look, let's talk about this at home."

"Fine."

Madison fixed her sight on the self checkout to make a speedy getaway. She certainly forgot a few items on her list in her haste to leave, but their conversation left her feeling as if she were being watched. Her hands shook as she placed the now bagged groceries back into her cart.

Wake up, grab coffee, commute to work, run errands. Your daily routine. No matter where you move, it's always the same. Recently you've found yourself moving back to Seattle. At one point in your life you had promised yourself you would never return. It was too painful, there had been nothing here for you but the reminder of your stolen childhood and the loss of your greatest friend. Most of your time had been spent running away from it all, trying to get as far away as possible, to find something new. One day when you were near hopeless, a very peculiar news story broke. Instantly, your zest for life was sparked anew.

You felt kind of silly. Everywhere you went, you kept a hopeful eye out for that familiar visage. Sometimes you would find it in passing and reach out, call out in your special way, praying against all odds that they would hear, that they would stop what they were doing and turn to find your face in the crowd. It never happened. Sometimes you would see her nervously glance around the room. Sometimes you would see him put his book down and study his surroundings. Every time you would lose your courage and slink away. It was like pining over your high school crush all over again; always setting up chance encounters, but never falling through. Just slinking back behind the bookshelf, letting the heavy weight in your chest sink once more. It was easier than possibly facing humiliation. "Not anymore," you decide, "not this time." Next time you see them, you are going to reach out in person. It could be today, it could be tomorrow, it could be two weeks from now. But right now, you really need to pick up some eggs.

But oh– what's this? A beacon of light pushed its way through thick branches and shone on a head of familiar thick brown hair. You stopped in your tracks and stood dumbfounded and, admittedly, unprepared.

"You are shaking like a fucking leaf. Calm down before someone suspects us of theft and draws attention to us."

Though he might have been right, she rolled her eyes at him anyway. It certainly didn't help their case that she constantly looked over her shoulder all the way across the parking lot and almost dropped her keys while opening the trunk.

"Okay, we're almost out of here. I'll be able to think more clearly at home, where it's safe."

"Safe? You are being a lot more anxious than usual. I guess I should have been clearer earlier: I think this voice is an old friend of ours."

Madison paused, flabbergasted. The only memories she had of Simion were vague– it was mostly the strong negative emotions she associated with her time there that she could access just yet. It was unthinkable to her that they could have had a friend in Simion at all.

A sense of urgency to not look like an even bigger creep jolted you to approach before she closed the trunk and saw you staring. God, you wish you could remember her new name.

"Uhm, excuse me," you waved timidly in her direction, only taking another step forward when she noticed you. "You might not remember me, but we uh…" You paused, looking for the right words, "lived in the same facility as kids."

"Oh my god," hearing the familiar voice from a source other than inside her own head was a shock to Madison, and quite the relief. "I see you. I heard you. I didn't remember, but he did."

Before you could utter another word, your cell phone rang. It was an unknown caller. "Oh, sorry," your finger hovered over the decline button.

Her hand reached out and stopped you, "he wants to talk to you." She smiled.

Immediately, you brought your phone to your ear, "Hello?" Your voice wavered despite your best efforts, and your heart fluttered almost painfully. Finally, his rough voice graced your weary ear and confirmed your biggest hope. "Hello, rabbit."

"Gabriel," tears streamed down your face. You laughed at the nickname, one he gave you, and that you hadn't heard since they took him away. "I thought you were gone. I thought I'd never see you again."

At first, you could barely speak through the tears.

Madison hugged you, or Gabriel hugged you, or maybe it was both of them, either way you were grateful. She offered to let you sit in her car to cry it out, and you talked with them for a few minutes, which turned to half an hour, which turned to Madison inviting you home so she could put their groceries away and you could continue catching up. As the three of you talked for hours, the memories began to catch up to her. She could feel the good memories, the good emotional associations. She could also feel Gabriel's stronger, more affectionate emotions bubbling to the surface. Eventually she decided to take a step back and let Gabriel pilot their body. He was very excited to show you the ways he had learned to move and go about his day to day.

"In some ways, it feels more free," he confessed.

You were excited– you knew he would no longer be the way you remembered him, you were prepared for that– but all the same you mourned him for years, and seeing him before you yet again overwhelmed you. The utter loss of that day filled you again, and you embraced him alone this time. "I can't believe you're still here. I can't tell you how much I wished I could see you again, all those years."

He hugged you tighter and didn't let go– there's no way he'd let you find out he was crying, too.

I love the honest review - because that's how I'm going into it. I know it's not going to be a masterpiece and I'm seeing it for love of a celeb, and I'll be gentler about it than maybe otherwise. Just want to have fun! It doesn't seem like it's meant to be a serious movie but that's such a Finn and people this generation move to put that little bit of social commentary in a horror-slasher-comedy thing. So, it'll be interesting to see how we view it landing or not landing, and the humor in general!

I mostly really am interested in the comedy aspect because as much as I love horror, this isn't going to be the element that grips me because slashers are silly and camp to me and this one ramped up to the extreme, like I personally know I'm not going to be scared or thrilled by it, just here for the fun of it all. But the comedy - mysterious until experience. It's because when someone touts themselves as loving comedy and wanting to do that and then they actually write something - is it actually funny? Like ok funny man Finn, let's see your attempt at making me laugh. This is your first chance to do this.

Firstly, because I am who I am - every single time this blog is referred to as the Castle or the sleepover I smile so big. I love that, I love all of us. Yay!! Cannot wait for all of us to see it and dish.

Ok, now I am curious about the gay character more if the view is that he's written well. I think my biggest worry was that he was generic and referential and not a "real character" like - yall know what I mean. I wanted to trust Finn but... you never know? So, that's good to keep in mind. And also very intrigued for all the other points made 👀

And ahhhh the feared word "problematic." VERY intrigued to see what was dipped into in this one. I almost want to be spoiled but I better just sit and wait, it's not like April is that far. If I feel absolutely minimal agony over waiting until November for Stranger Things I feel totally chill about April for HOAS.

This is something else I wasn't sure I was the right person to point out but it is an important point to consider. There are so many angles at play and so many points of representation and people just existing as people and characters and you have to consider the balance. It does matter, you know? We'll have to wait and see what the plot entails. So many directions it could take but it is kinda 🙄 I agree, if there's no queer storyline at all with Finn's character and this little romance plays out and then that's completely ignored. There's a pattern in fandom! It's not a reach to point that out.

What tips/advice do you have for someone who made a Writeblr today?

Babe i don't know what I'm doing let alone advice for other people. Um I guess be insane about your projects. Don't be afraid to not take yourself seriously, and enjoy working on your WIPs. People talk about how oh writing is supposed to be self reflective writing is supposed to be about learning about others- my writing is a joke to me and everyone around. If it ends up being something else later on that's great but right now no its whatever i think would be funny rn.

6 years actually writing (2 drafts of mine were deleted by negligent roommates so I've had to completely restart) but about 10 since I started thinking about it

Do you remember what inspired them/what got you started?

Literally a million things. But also it mostly just kinda came from my own brain. Everything I've ever experienced has shaped it.

How much time, in your best estimation, do you spend thinking about them?

It never leaves my mind. Literally ever. Ask my wife it's literally all I talk about

When someone asks the dreaded, “What do you write about,” question, what do you usually say?

"Oh I'm really dabbling in slasher-comedy recently" /voice of a man who is so proud of the genre 'slasher-comedy'

What do you want to say (if it’s different from what you do say)?

Honestly slasher comedy is pretty accurate. It leaves out the rampant implications of demon horniness but that isn't technically relevant to the plot

No I find them hilarious if I'm being honest. They do some cringefail shit and I just laugh

They are writing this shit. I am just witnessing and occasionally figuring stuff out from subtext.

GOD YES. LITERALLY ANYTHING. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Also having conducted research on other timelines, I am comfortable with Mortal Kombat but may not do as good with characters outside of X and 11 as those are the two I was able to play.

There are a LOT of movies and shows I haven't seen but would like to so definitely hit me with suggestions on what to watch. Could definitely write for Red X and/or Slade (Deathstroke) from Teen Titans (2003) though! And I suppose the typical like Batman and such.
