So, recently, I visited the “new” Marvel store in Downtown Disney-for another time-and when I went to see Rocket, something was amiss.

Can’t stop thinking about this

Floor and Teefs were begging Rocket to leave. But, he was too distraught and consumed by grief over Lylla to listen. Floor and Teefs died because of that. And that’s something Rocket has blamed himself over for a very long time.

I think it's hilarious that for the last 9 years Rocket saying "im not a raccoon" was assumed to be some deep rejection of self when in reality the man just had no clue what a fuckin raccoon was.

The moment I knew guardians of the galaxy vol. 3 would be good was in the first 5 minutes, when Peter fell from being drunk and they actually cared about him and put him in bed. As soon as he fell, I was SO ready for them to play it off as a laugh. I was so sure of it, because every other marvel movie would have done that. That’s *exactly* what they did with Thor in Endgame.

But no. Rocket looked at him in sympathy and all the guardians asked how he was doing and Nebula tucked him into bed (which I ALSO thought they would make a joke of! But they didn’t!) and they treated him with love. I have a lot of feelings about this movie and why it wasn’t trash like a lot of other recent marvel movies, but I think the main reason was that they actually made the characters care about each other right from the get-go.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: GOTG have the smoothest, most planned, movie series with a satisfying ending.

[SPOILERS]

It shows that:

- the main male lead and female lead doesn't have to end up together

- endings doesn't have to be tragic or sad to be remarkable

- heroes deserve to be saved too

- people change, and that's okay

- keep the character arc constant throughout different movies

- give villain's minions some character and thoughts. When High Revolutionary's subordinate went against him? And that Ura girl? Amazing.

- some villains can have no sob backstory and justification of what they done and still be a good villain (story-wise), and audience don't need to empathize. It's ok if they just want to cheer heroes as they kick the villain's ass

- You can make good jokes WITHOUT undermining the emotional aspect. Go ahead, joke, but know where to stop. I feel that's what new MCU movies lacked lately.

The High Evolutionary destroyed an entire planet of innocent people and I am DEVASTATED THAT THEY KILLED THE PRECIOUS BAT FAMILY.

Also I am permanently emotionally devastated from the Rocket flashbacks

i’m a huge believer that rocket would be a punk anarchist if he knew what it was

i can just envision him listening to the clash and dead kennedys and being like “oh yeah this is where it’s at”

also his behavior overall is entirety anarchist. even in gotg3 he doesn’t lose his fire, he just becomes more accepting of being loved.

he’d love to diy clothes and add patches, studs, and stitches. he’d have crust pants and platform boots (and he’d absolutely point out himself being taller) all of which he made himself.
