She listened to a undertale fansong nightcore cover on her school Chromebook and it genuinely changed her life for the worst. She was on Wattpad with Angel with a Shotgun BLASTING through her skull candy earbuds she stole off of a kid.

She's never been to a concert and that's for everyone's sake. She would have the absolutely worst concert etiquette to ever exist.

Once she matures she becomes an IPC diehard. She is at a Juggalo concert with her shirt off throwing Fuego and probably getting pulled over after.

Vi

Twenty One Pilots, Hozier, Florence and The Machine, Weezer, The Smiths, Ghost, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Queen, System of a Down, Nancy Sinatra, etc

She says she's not a big music fan and that she just listens to whatever's on the radio but that is a lie.

She's not normal about Florence and The Machine. Anytime she's about to have a breakdown she puts Dog Days Are Over on full blast inside her truck. She's been in the top percent of her listeners for 5 years straight now.

She listens to exclusively bands that a guy in a guitar store would brag about listening to saying they were totally indie and no one would know them. She owns a vinyl player. She's not as pretentious, but still.

Hozier is like, the one guy in all of history that she somewhat is attracted to. His music is a borderline religious experience. She went to one of his concerts with Ekko and cried so hard she got sick. As soon as they were in the hotel she chugged a bottle of honey whiskey and passed out. She has not been the same since.

She HATES Jinx's music with like, a genuine passion. She will smack Jinx's hand if she tries to change her music. they are fighting like rabid dogs for who gets the aux cord

Caitlyn

Taylor Swift, Chappel Roan, Mitski, Kate Bush, The Cardigans, The Crane Wives, Sabrina Carpenter. Billie Elish, etc

She's relatively normal about music. Most of the time she just has white noise on whenever she's working. However, if she needs to do a long drive or something and doesn't want to listen to the radio, she WILL be playing all of Taylor Swifts discography

Shes not a Swiftie, but she listens to it enough that she got Jayce into it. She's way more a fan of her older music though.

Most of the music she listens to sounds like breakup music. Like it's always weirdly somber and full of anguish. She will also occasionally listen to a song about family issues and clearly not be okay.

Again, not really a music fan. However, this has not stopped Jayce from seeing her in her car scream-crying to Good Luck Babe. He is so worried for her and she just acted so calm after.

She thinks Vi has such unique tastes and will end up growing to like a lot of Vi's music too. Disgusting. I think they kiss during a Hozier song playing and everyone thinks they're disgusting.

Ekko

Tyler The Creator, Gorillaz, Poor Mans Poison, Los Campesinos, The Oozes, Pavement, AJJ, The Front Bottoms, Jhariah, Jack Stauber, Djo, etc.

The only one with objectively good music tastes in the entirety of this group. He's the kind of person to genuinely mean it when he says he listens to everything. The only music he doesn't really love is modern country, but he fucks heavily with almost everything.

The only artist that's super consistent and someone he actively gets excited for when there's a new release is Tyler the Creator. He enjoys music as an art form rather than something to just listen to, and he loves Tyler's vision and how he makes it an experience.

He listens to a LOT of Legend of Zelda soundtracks. If his favorite video game has a soundtrack he will have that on loop for days. His Spotify Wrapped is consistently fucked because of this.

He took Vi to the Hozier concert because she kept asking and he got into Hozier before she did. He has a video of her drunk-crying in her hotel bed about it. It was genuinely such a magical experience for them both though.

He got Jinx into Gorillaz as a way to try and get her to like. better music. And it backfired so bad. He's the one pushing her to like ICP.

Jayce

Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Chappel Roan, Charli xcx, Doja Cat, Kesha, Lady Gaga, Ayesha Erotica, Shakira, P!NK. etc

He got into Taylor Swift due to Caitlyn and now he's the bigger Swiftie. Genuinely has started collecting all her albums. He is so obsessed with her music it is a little concerning.

He will blast Juno by Sabrina Carpenter on full blast while working and it annoys the genuine fuck out of Viktor. He is not doing this to annoy him, he's trying to get Viktor to like his kind of music.

Vi has been begging him to listen to literally anything else. Viktor is also begging, but he's starting to give up.

He went to a Sabrina Carpenter concert with Mel and he ended up getting the fuzzy pink handcuffs and he will NEVER stop talking about it. He has them hanging on his wall alongside a picture of him on the screen.

Viktor

The Hoosiers, The Oh Hellos, American Murder Song, The Taxpayers, Poor Mans Poison, Orville Peck, Gene Aubrey, Johnny Cash, Hozier, etc

Again, objectively good music tastes. He tends to listen to old country or folk music. He likes a song that tells a story and has a lot of heart in it.

If you put modern day country on the radio he will die. If he has to listen to a "I LOVE BEER AND TRUCKS" song one more time he's going to throw himself onto the highway full speed. He despises that genre of music more than anything else on the entirety of this Earth.

He is also a huge Hozier fan, and has been since Take Me to Church blew up while he was in his religious guilt era. He went to the same concert as Vi but they didn't know they were there. He cried so hard at that concert he got sick. It was more than a religious experience for him.

He has been trying to get Jayce to listen to Orville Peck or Hozier for MONTHS. He's not allowed Jayce to play his music ever. It's working very slowly.

He thinks about Jayce while listening to Hozier and contemplates ending it all while Jayce is playing BRAT in the lab. Genuinely couldn't be a worse situation for him actually.

Mel

See, I know most will say she would have amazing music tastes but I can't agree. I don't think she cares. She listens to whatever is on the radio. Her Spotify Wrapped is consistently fucked because she uses her phone as a speaker at like parties or during long car rides.

She doesn't have a preference when it comes to music. Her liked playlist of songs is close to 500 and it's just whatever songs anyone has sent her. She will put it on shuffle and get Halls of Illusions by Insane Clown Posse back to back with fucking Someone New by Hozier. It's bad.

She is not paying attention to what she's listening to. She blocks it out so well that she can't really pay attention to it. If she's forced to pick music, it'll just be whatever Jayce has made her listen to in the past week and a half.

She went to a Sabrina Carpenter concert with Jayce purely because she saw all the videos and thought it would be fun. Her and Jayce were dorking out. She could not match his energy though, and she loves him so much but she is never going to a concert with him again.

Ohmy god hang on i was looking up the top 100 so i could look at them across the years and the default is obviously the current top 100 and i need to stress out of the top ONE HUNDRED songs. about a THIRD are taylor swift songs (32/100). only two of these are below the top 50 (51 & 55, so. barely.) Thirty Fucking Taylor Swift Songs are in the billboard top 50. all of the top 10 are taylor fucking swift. doesnt even matter what i was gonna say because literally any other variety of stuff being in the top 100 is better than literally a third of it being taylor swift

ok me finally exposing my opinions on taylor swift Bc i’ve been avoiding the topic for so long

i would not hate you! my best friend is a huge swiftie and i had my own taylor swift phase. she has some beautiful and soul crushing songs. my issues with taylor swift are mostly to do with the ethical implications of her monopoly on the music industry and how i think it’s impossible to get to where she is without exploiting people along the way. i also think it’s unfortunate that she has probably the largest platform of anyone in the entire world and chooses not to use it. and i understand that she is not a politician nor is she an activist, she is an entertainer. but historically entertainers who get even as close to as big as she is have used their platform to make some sort of statement, but her desire to remain bipartisan and universally appealing actually repels me a little bit because you never know where people like that truly stand. this is not to say taylor swift is the ONLY celebrity who i’m holding to these standards, but it just sucks that it would MATTER if she spoke about gaza or the abortion bans or what have you and she just doesn’t.

but at the same time i understand you would be hard pressed to find an artist who is doing everything right all the time. a lot of my favorite artists seem at the very least uneducated and at worst morally bankrupt. like i could talk about all the ridiculous bullshit lana del rey has said and done over the years and she still had a profound impact on my developing brain and genuinely shaped my life. the relationship between art and politics and the masses and celebrity is really complex. so is the idea of supporting the art but not the artist. i think at the end of the day we owe it to ourselves and each other to think critically about what we consume and who we support. my other best friend who is admittedly less of a swiftie than the former bestie mentioned still loves her music and he is the most politically aware and media literate person i know. he would agree that art is what brings us joy in life and if we cut out every single form of art from our lives that is interconnected with something problematic we literally would have nothing left—AND he can critique the way taylor swift utilizes her fame. what i absolutely cannot endorse is people blindly supporting their fav and digging their heels in because they want to believe they are a good person. that’s so dangerous and as long as you are able to see nuance and accept that your favorite artists all have flaws, and then go from there, that’s about the best you can do

Sirius: Claims it's Look What You Made Me Do and claims to be in his Rep era. Actually started listening during Speak Now and OG Better Than Revenge got him hooked. You Are In Love makes him cry when he's alone.

Remus: Avoided listening until folkmore, but heard the lakes and died at the poetry. Now a diehard Swiftie because of the 'poetic lyrics.' Heard Enchanted and cried because he thought of Sirius.

Peter: says he doesn't like Taylor but knows all the words 'because of his roommates.' Dances far too hard to Shake It Off for that to be completely true.

Lily: OG Swiftie. Had Debut on her iPod nano 1st gen. Heard Tim McGraw and loved it right away.

I think this links to smth that doesn't quite sit right with me (I think I've talked abt this before), how she dedicates the archer to the fans now that her and joe are over. there's nothing wrong with changing the meaning of a song/applying it to a different person, but I don't think its very healthy to dedicate such a deeply personal and vulnerable song to millions of strangers. it's essentially a 'will you love me at my worst' song and by worst she's to talking about sales or commercial success but very intimate flaws, and the kind of support that song seeks is one of a romantic partner or a close loved one, not from a crowd of people you'll never know even superficially. i don't know if its her who started this or the fans, but either way it only contributes to the toxic parasocial relationship, the archer is not quite in the same category as songs like change or long live

(for eg with atw10! she talks abt how the fans have changed what that song means for her which is much healthier because its about a group of people resonating so deeply with a song and its meaning, which transformed an otherwise rather unbearably painful time as just another chapter in her life)

as for her need for external validation, imo i dont think that's anything new like even in miss Americana, her response to reputation not being nominated for any grammys was that she just needed to create a better album. we see it in the intense commercialisation of her brand in the past 2 years, with taylor nations tweets/her social media marketing + pandering to gen z. she is no longer special or revolutionary in any way (even tho she used to be to a certain extent imo) because she now she's just catering to/adapting to what's hot and what's not. i think she desperately needs to stay at the top of the game, sales wise and public favour wise, to feel validated as an artist and person (even tho it is inherently problematic to tie one person's morality to the public's opinion of them).

(however, she's at a pretty interesting part of her career where instead of having to constantly justify herself, she's built a strong enough fan base to do the jumping through hoops *for* her, so she doesn't seem to care as much abt maintaining a positive public image. forget tree, her publicist(s) are the diehard swifties now lmao)

Note: Most, if not all, of these do not take place in the established universe of the show, this is purely for fun. Most are goofy and chaotic, but regardless, do reflect on their relationship. 

Both Andi and Don are huge fans of Stranger Things - and they often quote lines to each other for the fun of it, like “I am on a curiosity voyage, and I need my paddles to travel,” “You know that means you suck, right?”, “Mornings are for coffee and contemplation,” and calling each other mouthbreathers to make fun of each other. 

That being said, Andi’s favorite characters are Max (she finds it funny that her voice and Max’s are the same - if you know, you know 😌), Eleven (she audibly cheered when she heard “I dump your ass” in season 3,) Robin, Dustin, and Erica 

Donnie’s are Dustin, Nancy (mostly because she reminds him so much of Andi,) Max, Will, and Joyce (he’s a diehard Jopper shipper)

They have clashing music tastes - and will often debate what music is better. Donnie’s tastes are eclectic, ranging from classical music to hip-hop and hard rock. Andi is more focused; she loves indie and alternative pop and rock. They’ll have literal debates analyzing every detail of what they listen to - like the history of the genres, important figures, and how significant it’s been to the musical landscape. More often than not, though, the other boys and April will side with Andi, purely because Donnie’s tastes are so left-field. 

Their relationship is a mix of two different dynamics; the overly sweet couple that makes you wonder if they’re “goals” or are just annoying, and the sarcastic couple that can/will be mean to those around them - except to each other.

Andi’s personality type is ISTJ-T (Turbulent Logistician), while Donnie’s is ISFJ-T (Turbulent Defender)

It’s canon that they’re both extremely intelligent - and while it’s not often, they would sometimes have competitions and debates to see who is smarter. So far, they’re tied in debates (they’ve both won 3 each,) but Donnie is winning in terms of competitions, as he’s won 7 while Andi’s only won 5.

They often do nerdy things like read together and stargaze, but one of their best memories was raising a group of butterflies together - they were named Cornelius, Meredith and Oliver. And yes, both of them teared up when they were let go into the world.

Both of them are not morning people in the slightest. Unless the two of them have their preferred drinks immediately after going into the kitchen (Donnie his cup of coffee and Andi her tea,) they will scowl at anyone who tries to talk to them or groan at any questions asked of them.

(Because it's me,) Donnie would be a casual Swiftie - not a diehard fan, but likes the singles, and some songs off each album (though he absolutely adores folklore and evermore, and seven, the lakes, peace, ivy and coney island (especially when Andi learns the lyrics and duets with him) are his favorite songs.

To follow up, he's converting Andi into a Swiftie as well - her favorite albums at the moment are Red and Midnights, and her favorite songs from each are State of Grace and Paris (though she relates the most to I Almost Do and You're On Your Own, Kid)

They are fiercely protective of each other - and will likely kill anyone who messes with their partner. Andi’s more frequent in resorting to such measures, but when Donnie’s pushed that far, he’s more dangerous.

They have considered hacking into a national database - and threatened to do so on many occasions.

It’s rare that the two of them get into a fight, but on the off chance that it does happen, it’d be quiet, but intense - lots of glaring (mostly from Andi) and teary eyes. One of three instances will happen, depending on who was at fault.

If Andi was the one who was wrong, it’ll take a while for her to apologize - her stubbornness is cranked up to 11 in a fight. But eventually, she’ll trudge over and apologize, putting her arms around Donnie and explaining why she got so upset. 

If Donnie was at fault, he’ll grovel at her feet - begging for her forgiveness and doing everything he can to tell her that he was wrong for hurting her and that he’ll do anything to make it up to her. 

If both of them were at fault, Andi would request that the two of them just stay away from each other, and as much as it would hurt Donnie, he would reluctantly agree. They’d spend upward of a week away from each other - and then when the distance gets to be too much for them, one of them will text the other and whoever received the message will book it to where the other person is - either Andi’s apartment or the lab in the lair. 

Playing off that desperation of seeing each other, they can be quite clingy with each other. Donnie is more clingy naturally, but when Andi goes through something traumatic (which, spoiler alert, will happen in her story…multiple times,) she will cling to him like she’s gonna lose him if she lets go. 

Overall, while their relationship has a smidge of fairy-tale wonder to it, they have an undying love for each other that’s as real as anything - regardless of what (or who) tries to break it.

i think i finally had a breakthrough thought today on why most hardcore taylor swift fans i know react so violently and over the top aggressively to any ideation of “i don’t like her music” or “i understand why it’s so popular but i think it’s critically overrated.”

because f.ex. i am pretty insane and parasocial about the band ghost on the same level or worse probably as most of the swifites i’ve encountered irl 💀 but if someone says they don’t like ghost’s music, i get it. the voice is nasal, the lyrics can be silly and sexual and the music to the general radio/charts listener is quite heavy yet not heavy enough for many a diehard metalhead.

so!!! i think the key here is the type of parasocial relationship that is happening for swifties. in my obsvervation all the really intense swifites identify a lot with TS. it’s not an aspirational “i want to be her” it’s a literal “she is me.” which is also helped by her constant narratives of self victimization and being the underdog. so every single slight or dismissal that is said about TS is taken as a personal insult. an offense to the swiftie themselves. does that make sense??

So I have a weird situation and idk how to go about it? So like I'm not very open about me being a taylor fan, for no reason at all it's just something more "private", idk, never given it much thought, but all this to say a lot of my friends have no idea I like her music. Victoria had recently returned from Brandeis for summer break, at least, that's what my mom said.

The beach was nearly deserted, aside from blond and brunette leaning on a rock halfway across the beach.

Without another thought, I pushed myself to my feet, slipping my hand in the back pocket of my shorts, placing my phone in the pocket. She had cut her hair shorter. Her once shoulder-length brown hair had now been chopped down to her ear.

"Taylor's coming over for songwriting. Just thought you might like to know that," she yelled towards the stairs once she heard the creak and thumping of the old wood stairs.

Not even ten minuets later, a knock reverberated from downstairs.

"Victoria!" I yelled, hoping to have my voice reach her ears, but it fell on deaf ears. "Victoria! Porta qui il tuo culo!" Again, no response.

Another knock made an appearance.

I’m that anon and this might sound over the top but I genuinely feel so so so heard right now because for the longest time when I followed them their takes and the way Taylor just fully consumes their life made me feel drained. I remember always side eyeing how they would conveniently side step criticising Taylor whenever she would genuinely mess up like saying oh they’re not a part of that group so they don’t want to take up space but it’s like okay I get it, hell I can even respect that but why aren’t you reblogging posts criticising Taylor made by the people she has directly hurt from her actions then. the way that fans go into dissecting very minute details over there sometimes made me think of how inevitable it is for Taylor to not grow and change cuz these are the blogs that always filled up Taylor’s feed and realistically fans like this is what she’s exposed to and on a human level I can’t imagine being treated as if every minor action of mine is worth extensive praise. The mental development of a celebrity impacted by being placed on such high pedestals has always intrigued me. I won’t lie there was a time, whenever I came home from school I would sit and obsessively consume only Taylor content and would be very defensive over her in real life as well but ( and I’m not trying to be super judgemental here) I can’t imagine being that committed to protecting, coddling, praising and borderline worshipping somebody like that when I know that individual never even considers my existence for like a second, I genuinely can’t imagine doing this for years and years and never growing past it especially with everything Taylor has done.

So, I'd like to preface this with the fact that I'm absolutely a Can't Do Math Gay™ and math is basically my mortal enemy.

However, I spent entirely too much time the past few days using math to rank Fall Out Boy (and Taylor Swift) albums, based on song sorters you can do online that rank ALL their songs lol. A Swiftie tiktok is what sent me down this rabbit hole, and I'm gonna link that here because they explain how to do the math and I'm not even gonna begin to try to explain all that myself lol
