The guy that hates physical contact is smiling as kohaku hugged him? Not only that but he also looked into her eyes tenderly? LIKE? The other girl going "it wasn't that type of hug" was just referring to the fact that they aren't gf and bf because technically THEY AREN'T and the one girl still assumed that they were. So when they got touch- feely and the girl covered her eyes thinking they were a couple(thanks to the kiss situation) the other girl calmed her down saying they weren't really a couple sharing a hug; but two people that care about each other hugging. While Senku did not return the hug because he is never/and has never been forward about that type of situation, Kohaku is the first he's smiles at, lets hug, and has had people wonder the state of their relationship when being hugged by. She is also the only girl he is close with, that has been hinted at having feelings for him.

The KISS

Sorry, No I get it. It was too soon for this to be a romantic moment. I get it. It was for the sake of comic relief. But if you pay attention. The context of the scene didn't necessarily have to be written romantically, NOT EVEN for the sake of the plot. Cause them kissing had nothing to do with the situation; BUT the mangaka STILL specifically chose to go THAT route with the scene. He, HIMSELF, chose to use a romantic excuse(even if a comical one) as a plot device to move the story forward. And on top of that made them kiss(even if they were both uncomfortable by it still at this point in the manga). With that, making Kohaku the girl he's closest to who he has had the most physical contact with and even shared a kiss with(even if it was just a chin kiss and they both were practically uncomfortable for being forced to do.). No but seriously, the mangaka using SenHaku as a plot device to move the story forward WHEN it is NOT needed should provide some insight of what he thinks of the pairing. Which is that: "it is fun to write about" and "he likes to write about it".

I like how he reponds with something that implies. "Maybe i'll blush later....not rn we gotta find a way out of here". Can we also take a moment to realize the mangaka/writter interrupted this moment before Senku could respond to the: "and the way i see it that is so very-" from kohaku? Subtle behavior on his part. Is there something on Senku's mind he doesn't want fans to know for the sake of avoiding ship wars? I wouldn't be surprised if this was what was stopping him from making the ship more explicit. Cause shippers get kind of crazy with the wars and MOST mangakas KNOW this and dont want that to affect the sales.

He specifically chose one of the most romantic tropes to draw them In? Sorry no. This has nothing to do with their dynamic; but he still drew them like this? In THIS pose? Mangaka definitely shipped them.

I don't know why people say this ship is impossible because Senku says he isn't interested in romance. Like he also hinted at the fact that he has sex drive, just not a crazy active one where he would attack a female for, especially one stronger than him.

And if you ACTUALLY pay attention every time that topic of romance comes up is not that he COMPLETELY dismisses it. It is more because he does not prioritize it or care to look for it, especially considering that he is so goal-driven. At the same time, it is already revealed that not everything he says(especially when it comes to relationships/bonds)does he mean. He only, like i said, likes to remain goal-oriented and doesn't want anything to distract him.

He also acted pretty detached towards his own father and rejected his overly affections of love. So much so, that Byakuya tried to adapt to his own love language of science. But at the end of the day,it is not that Senku is 100% against those concepts(of romanticized bonds) it is just that he finds them to be waste of time. But despite that, he is still human. He still feels despite how much he doesn't allow himself to do so:

And Riri herself pointed how Senku only acts tough and detached when it comes to relationships/bonds(when talking about his care for the village) but a part of him does care. This is because she is the only one whose seen him cry at his father grave, despite how detached he acted about his father dying at the beginning. But again, he remembered that he had a goal, and wiped his tears; because for him "there's no time for that". It's all about prioritizing his goals, especially when about science.

And there's ALOT of emphasis on THAT.

Even so, so many characters in shounen have ended up marrying/having feelings despite saying/or there being no indicator that they are interested in romance. It is a common trope of it. So even if it were because Senku is not into romance it wouldn't sink the ship. I mean look at Sasuke(another goal-oritented character) said that romance had no place in his revolution; but at the end of the day married sakura and even gave her a ring to ward off insects

[note: is important to note that sasuke was not rejecting sakura here. More like trying to convince kakashi that romance had no place in his revolution. Because he was goal oriented, like Senku(that and the fact that he was still struggling with his darkness). In fact Sakura said that she wanted things to go back to the way they used to be and he assumed that was romance, without anyone saying anything of that sort. And Sakura had already left it clear that she wanted team 7 back; but then sasuke mentioned romance lol]

Something else worth mentioning is the fact that Senku hates clingy overly-romantic girls or the girls that fall in love too fast with him, as we've seen him cringe or act annoyed with those type of acts. But still, he was able to manage to say something about a type, despite his dismissive behavior. Even tho it was just to brush the conversation off, the fact that he answered his type of girl with "someone that could bring him materials" and then calls Kohaku a lioness, and him as a scientist knows that usually a lioness is one to provide their mates with food from hunting. I don't know. It seemed like a sweet nickname to give her. Especially when in his time period, that type of nickname is considered flirtatious. What is more, is that he initially brought Taiju back because of his usefulness in strength(and the fact he knew he could trust him) & Senku himself noticed the exact same quality in Kohaku.

So someone that could fit his description of his type would definitely be kohaku and seeing that she is the girl who he is the closest, and HAS brought him materials before so i dont see why not. I mean he was already pretty impressed with her first meeting her. Even after having worked with her, he was still impressed by her strength, and doesn't stop talking about it:

There's also people who always dismiss Kohaku's feelings. I mean i think it's already pretty clear

And well he already fits the EXACT description of her EXACT type. So it is 100% safe to say that she has feelings for him. It may not be explicitly stated but it was just the right amount of sublte. Similar to Mikasa Ackerman/Touka Kirishima, whose feelings were never explicitly stated; but were always quite obvious. That was the type of subtlety the mangaka was aiming at. And i think there's a reason for that.

Because Senku hates fast paced relationships/love at first sight/mushy girls. Building Kohaku's feelings in a slowburn manner makes Kohaku stand out from all the other girls that have feelings for him/have flirted with him/felt attracted to him. Because, as i said, he doesn't like that kind of stuff. And since he is still sciency I don't think he would ever fall for a romantic type of girl; but rather a useful one that can serve as his partner. The way I see them happening would be by Kohaku being accepting of his anti-romantic nature, and Senku seeing her as worthy Mate that he could reproduce with so that the sciene can live on and keep developing. While he did teach Chrome alot, Chrome also says he wants Senku to live. I think he also meant it in a metaphorical way. Chrome, next to his other male friends kept pushing for or looking for an indicator of him feeling attraction for a girl/or at least want him to understand romantic love so that he doesn't keep downplaying the feelings that they have towards their crushes. Even Gen seemed pretty excited at the thought of him kissing a girl lol. So it's safe to say that the mangaka writing this was him rooting for the same thing for Senku; but not in the way that we exepect.

Again, if he ever did develop a relationsip with kohaku to another level. I dont think he would confess/or admit his physical attraction to her, if he did feel any. I think he would find himself content that he has found a useful girl, that can bring him materials, and doesn't ask much of him(in a romantic light). This would push Senku to allow Kohaku as his partner. I don't think Kohaku would mind it either as long as she knows Senku is willing to reciprocate in terms of just the right amount of romantic gestures/or sexual entanglement(when senku finds the time for her)

Because as he has stated he does not NOT have a sex drive(just not active) nor is he COMPLETELY against chivalry (which is rooted in romance).

So i think if he did develop feelings for Kohaku he will not do much to figure out the why and would instead only try to rationalize it by saying Kohaku is the perfect partner. He would agree to a wedding for the sake of his friends and act like he was peer pressured to doing it, and would probably ONLY compliment Kohaku's looks by saying something like "You know, according to the symmetrical proportions of your face, you'd be considered to be living up to the beauty standards of my time" and Kohaku would be fine with that thanks to the reassurance of her sister about how "he is not the type of guy to be completely against the tradition of bonds/feelings. He just doesn't prioritize them". So kohaku would be fine with that. Especially because she herself has been swayed by his way of living.

As long as she knows that Senku considers her his mate, partner, and important person, I think she'd be okay with that. Especially since Senku is logical enough to understand that he needs to put effort into the relationship with his mate. So he'd do soft gestures for her that will keep her happy in order to maintain their relationship, even if she doesn't ask for it. And that will be enough because by the end of the day that's what most relationships are, Senku just doesn't feel the need to romanticize them, unless it's for the sake of following through with a logical situation. And well him maintaining his relationship with Kohaku would be logical as it would avoid conflict and prevent him from seeking a mate elsewhere. We all know Senku doesn't like to bother with those things. He just goes with the flow of whatever is convenient.

I also think that even though he doesn't like physical contact he'd probably do soft things like touch her hand in reassurance,(he's held her hand), smile at her(as he has done so before), look tenderly at her with pride(has looked and felt proud of her) and lean on her when he is tired(they have leaned on each other metaphorically). Those would be indicators.of him caring for her, but he won't ever stop to think about them, even if his heart rate actually does start to raise he will only rationalize it with talks about "dopamine/serotonin" and Kohaku being his chosen partner; but overall, he'd be most ecstatic about having a partner by his side, and the fact that he cares for such partner. Kohaku won't ask for more and will come to understand that she has what any other girl has(when it comes to romantic relationships), and she SIMPLY has a partner that tends to rationalize everything and dislikes romance; but is willing to do it for the sake of logic.

So i watched the first half of ROTI! i don't have many thoughts honestly?

I don't care for Staci, i'll be honest. Her gimmick is repetitive and im glad she got booted first if this was the only thing the writters were gonna do with her. It would be funny if there was a grain of truth to her claims tho.

Dakota's pretty fun and i like the added focus on the interns this season, because let's be honest outside of one "haha the interns keep dying" joke in both TDI and TDWT there isn't much i belive? So yeah

also samkota's cute, idk what to say? God i wish the writters explored Dakota's character before the whole mutation thing.

Honestly all the ROTI girls are great, wish they got more than arcs about which boy they wanted to kiss because MAN ANNE MARIA AND JO ARE GREAT, Jo especially, she's currently my fav of the season. I wish they did more with both of them man!!! I don't like the jabs made about her appearence but i find them fine from Anne Maria specifically? Like yeah she would do that! I wish the girls were fighting for longer!

Dawn's one of the better characters but i wish her conflict with Scott lasted longer than one episode. Same with her friendship with B! What is it with Total Drama and throwing away interesting rivalries the episode they start at?!

B's fine i'll be real. I like how they don't actually make him speak! Other contestants do make jabs about it but like, they're teenagers, and one of them is from Scott and he's kinda shitty so it works lol

SPEAKING OF! Scott's pretty fun! He's not the best antagonist ever but he's fun to watch and that's enough for me rn. He's pathetic and shitty it's great

Team man is also fun, i like Brick especially. Don't like the frequency of the pissing himself jokes tho. Like, i get it! he's a military boy who likes fashion and pisses himself! Do something else!

I don't care for Cameron i'll be real. Neither for Zoey, i wish her flaws were explored more because dang she's judgy in episode 5!

I guess i'll talk about Mike here too? I think he's ok, but man i wish his alters were treated more like people. I don't mean the other contestants, i mean by the show. Svetlana's great for the small amount she's on screen for, and I like Chester and Vito more than i thought i would! Please show explore them a little more! (and, well, to state the obvious, don't call it mpd why did it call it mpd it wasn't even the actual term for it when the show was being written)

My least favorite part is the love triangle tho. It's suffering from a critical case of "Warrior's miscommunication": a miscommunication plotline that could be solved in a single conversation, but the characters involved don't tell anyone because we need to stretch this book to 300 pages! or in this case, the plotline to last the whole season!

I get Mike not wanting to tell Zoey because his whole thing is not wanting to tell people, and Vito not telling Anne Maria because he's fucking dumb and considering his relationship with Anne Maria wasn't in a position where he needed to disclose it, but LIKE!!! COME ON MAN!!! this could be solved so easily and they just,,, didn't. Also why can't Vito still date Anne Maria at the end he's his own person!

i'll be real i think i like the idea that Anne Maria and Vito are still friends they just make-out too, mostly because that's all they really do in the show (and also i like Jomaria more)

The challenges are fine? I think a couple are pretty good (the treasure hunt for instance) but a couple are less good? (the Obstacle Course is eh, i don't really care about the mine one) but honestly i wish they just executed a couple better. Like the Embarrasing questions, climbing the mountain, hell even the relay-race could've honestly been wayyy better than they actually were! At least they're camp related!

But yeah so far ROTI's pretty good, 6/10 with 8/10 characters.

For me Rita and Bellatrix are one of the best toxic couple to exist, they are both red flags and have very awfuls values, but they were here for each other when they needed to.

They met at hogwarts, they were in the same year and in the same house but never really talk to each other because when Rita was younger she had no friends. It's when they are in firth year that Rita became a bit more famous. She wrote an article about a teacher and because of it he was expulsed. Then during the summer break she wrote another article for a small newspaper but it was about Cygnus Black so the article was known in the wizarding world, it was scandalous. But Bellatrix didn't know who was the writter and didn't care she prefered working on Dark Arts. Then when they came back to school Bellatrix saw a young woman with beautiful blond hair and ask about it to her sister. Andromeda told her that the witch was Rita Skeeter, the woman who wrote the articles.

After the two began to talk, maybe they had one little fight about the article about Cygnus, and they didn't trust each other at all but they spend some time together and Bellatrix told Rita about things that no one knew for her articles and in exchange she had to tell everything she knew. They had no secrets (about other people's buisness). It was a sort of game.

They were flirting a lot and they had tension between them. The strated to kiss one day, mostly because they were drunk and Bellatrix jealous because Rita was with someone. They became friends with benefits. They made each other jealous with random people. They knew that the things that they had had to be secret.

At some point Andromeda discovered but never said anything about it.

After Hogwarts they still saw each other but not really often. Bellatrix was focused to join the deatheater and Rita wanted fame.

Rita was the one to annonce that Bellatrix is one of the deatheater after she got married to Rodolphus. (fav' headcanon about them) She did that for revenge and fame.

The two witches privileged their intrests before their love story.

At the end Bellatrix became more and more insane because all the people she loved were gone.

Deep down they knew that in this universe they are not endgame but when they were together, they could imagine what it would have felt like...

Episode 5 and final thoughts

This was the worst Episode because it completely overstayed it's welcome. The whole "spirit siren bullshit" was super useless if you dont fuse with the alien later on.

The Action scenes looked so bad. Susan never really tried to kill anyone. She was like the vault monster of this game, standing there until the player made a decision. The first Tales game did those scenes so much better.

The whole Doomsday Weapon thing was bullshit because, in the end, susan still fused with the alien, so why making the weapon in the first place? Lots of plotholes.

I did not get the best ending. Fran died but she has her sexy worker with her, so i guess she is happy. (I dont even know why she died tbh. It seemed super random and not because i made a mistake in the final fight. It felt like, she just decided to die or something) The vaultlanders minigame was cute but is basically just buttonmashing. Getting Jack at the end was cute tho.

• Final Thoughts •

The game was way too long. The writting was ridiculous at some point. Everybody lost their bananas during the tediore Invasion, 1½ Episodes later, everybody forgot about it and made TV Shows to earn money for a companyidea?

The music was badly chosen. Not one of those tracks will hit my Best of Borderlands Playlist.

The character arcs of Rhys and Athena were completely destroyed with this game. It's kinda insulting and i hope they never touch these two ever again because, nothing good will happen to them. This game proved it. Maybe it was good for Maya to die. She is now save from the writters.

We never saw Ocks friends again. Its like they never existed. Why do you introduce Daniell and the others if they dont mean anything at the end of the game? The original Tales game had me chose my Team for the final fight, so every character i have meet, had a meaning and place in the story until the very end ... even Claptrap had.

And what happened to the Tediore Team from the Borderlands 3 cut content? I loved those :( i mean these dumb bitches were funny once in a while, but the Tediore bros from BL3 are so much cooler ... we were robbed

But not everything was bad. L0u13 was great. Same goes for Brock and Super Vaultlanders Fan. I enjoyed some of this sitcom kinda humour.

I'm not sure what the issue is at Gearbox and writting good stories. What happened to the Team that made Borderlands 2? Guys if you need help, get better writters.

Not sure if this game deserves all the hate 100% it got. But its clearly not a 10/10. Not even a 8/10. It's an okay 6/10. Comparwd to the original Tales from the Borderlands the new game is just a 5/10. The writting is really that bad. Please fix this for BL 4.

I even think BL3 had a better story because, atleast, it had its flow.

So. Was thinking about the Magnus archives and Dgm and like... I gotta do it. Which character would be affiliated with which fear??

Allen is def a Stranger. He has a clown theme, he got masks, he's just a Stranger okay. Very good at faking being human but since he lived in a circus and then with his master, who is not a normal person (here it's because he's an avatar of the Desolation very touched by the Web but he's also weird in canon so...) he just didn't get that white hair isn't that normal for humans and realized it only after joining the order - and at this point he couldn't change it because people would definitely notice such a change and he doesn't wants to out himself as a Stranger cause the order is okay with avatars but he still doesn't wants to scare people (he's also very good at not being Uncannily Strange).

I don't think Kanda would be an avatar, but I do think he would be a entity's creation. Maybe a creation of the Stranger since he was someone else before being Kanda? Or the Flesh since he heals himself? Or both?? Some avatars of the Stranger and the Flesh tried to create hm invincible humans? And like. Technically it worked. But not like they expected. Also Kanda dislikes Allen at first sight because he reeks of the Stranger (which is. Normal. He IS of the Stranger, after all) and he doesn't likes Strangers because they remind him of the scientists who created him and also because they're FAKE AS FUCK and he just doesn't likes that.

Before doing Lavi I would like to explain my headcanon for the Bookman clan. It's not exactly a cult like the Lightless Flame but it's kinda affiliated to multiple entities : The Eye, because knowledge and recording history, The Desolation, because no attachments, no friends, no love, no heart, and the Stranger, because really a new persona and name for each recording that's very Stranger. Every Bookman and apprentice has to be marked by these three entities. They have means to gain some small powers from these marks (like Oliver saw the roots even before becoming an avatar) but not as much as real avatars. Becoming an avatar is really not recommended by the Clan because to record human history you have to understand humans and to understand humans you have to BE human so no to become a fear monster. Becoming an avatar of the eye is slightly more acceptable than the others cause it's about knowledge but it's still frowned upon and the Clan would watch these avatars very closely.

So Lavi is not an avatar but he's been marked by the Eye, the Desolation and the Stranger (also by the Slaughter cause of the bullet he took and really being marked by the Slaughter is kinda usual for Bookmen since they record WARS, they HAVE to be marked by the Slaughter at some point and anyway I'm pretty sure everyone in the order is marked by the Slaughter because akumas are obviously creatures of the Slaughter but later). He got some small powers from this, like from the Eye he got the capacity to remember everything he hears and see (he still had a very good memory to begin with but the Eye's marking made it REALLY good) also a sort of small compulsion that makes people more open with their secrets around him but it's really small. From the Desolation he got a bit of pyromania and a crazy flexibility, he may not be made of wax but it sure looks he is. Also he can see body temperatures with his right eye, like a infrared (?) vision? Can see people through walls, etc? From the Stranger he got a really good ability to create personas and he adapts to new names really fast. He can also know when people are lying but he's not sure which entity that comes from (I was tempted to include the Bookmen's sneakiness that we saw in like their first two chapters and nowhere else?? Come one it's super interesting?? Lavi is just super sneaky and I never see that in fanfics! Fanfics writters I am very disappointed) also like Kanda he would know that Allen is a Stranger at first sight, I mean Kanda doesn't really knows that Allen is a Stranger he just knows that he reeks of Stranger not that he is one but yes. Even without the Eye's influence the Bookmen are trained to recognize any avatar or marks, so yeah Lavi would know. He thinks it's very interesting!! Of course. He never met such a nice Stranger avatar, it's... *drum rolls*... Strange *badum tsss* omg he would make so many Stranger jokes around Allen... It has the side effect of angering Kanda even more. He's also very intrigued by Kanda since he never saw anything like him it's just all very interesting.

I don't think Lenalee would be an Avatar either, she's just... Not like that? But I see her being very touched by the Lonely since she got into the order, before her brother came, she was alone in this prison that made her fight and she was just alone. I think that without Komui's presence she would have been an avatar of the Lonely. Also she's very attached to her friends because sometimes she still feels the cold of The One Alone.

Komui and a lot of people from the Science department are either avatars from the eye or heavily touched by it. They all like to know things and discover new things and a few of them actively try to become avatars because eye powers could help them watch over the exorcists, like Knowing when they need help or Knowing exactly what kind of uniform they need. When you enter the science department you feel really watched but in a good, warm-blanket way?

So in the end only Allen, Cross, some other exorcists and some people from the Science department are avatars uh. I guess it wouldn't be good to be an avatar in the order cause you kinda feed from humans, the beings you're trying to defend against akumas? I guess you wouldn't really need to feed if you're an avatar of the Eye ; all the people in the order have a tragic story and I'm sure half of them are permanently afraid. You just absorb the fear around you, I guess? Being of The End would also not be bad, I guess? You're surrounded by death so... The Vatican would totally experiments on avatars uh. Oh thats' why it's bad to be an avatar in the order! If it's an exorcist, the Vatican can't do anything cause they're already short on exorcists, but if it's a finder ? Finder are - for the Vatican - unimportant, so you can experiment on them! Also they're just as likely to become avatars as anyone else in the order since they're very exposed to... All this horror. Maybe even more than the exorcists!

Also I see the Earl being something like the Distorsion but with multiple entities? Like uuuuh when he was human (?? Idk?? Let's say at the beginning of his existence??) he tried to do a ritual and got the right idea, he needed multiple entities to succeed but hm. It blowed up or something. Pretty sure he and the Noah are at least 30% Slaughter (with Skinn being 75% Slaughter) he would also be End (cause he bring back the dead) and Web (cause he manipulates Akuma and also people)? Maybe Desolation too... The Noah are at least clearly not of the Lonely. The Akuma are hm creatures of the Slaughter + End and when they evolve (when they're more... Clever) they become creatures of the Hunt + End? Here is my evil team organization. Remember the droog  and child evil team, I asked that. So here is my grunts for Team Myriad. These children are obsessed with fighting trainers and never talk at all. Speak in rhynmes or numbers. Well sometimes but not often. Are they friend or foe?

“These child like grunts have mysteriously appeared in the Galar region. Their motivations and faces are unknown. The thing they love the most is pokemon battling.” Utilize in  normal, fairy, psychic, and steel. But will use other types if they have to. 

So do you like this concept? Also any criticisms for my drawing or improvements. Like their appearance, looks, or design? Would this be an interesting team?

PS I wonder how the pokevillains  would react to this team. Intrigued or confused? Love your blog.

Anyways, I really like the designs you have there and I can definitely see the inspiration from the Clockwork Orange aesthetics there. I like that they don’t talk and use rhymes, this is cool dialogue. It is, to me, relatively hard to picture it in an official Pokémon game because I don’t think Nintendo would want it to look too creepy and I can definitely picture this content in a creepy pasta aesthetic that I... don’t think Nintendo would wanna approach. It would be doable, though. And of course, as fan-content, even the creepy pasta style or other horror-related styles are valid. Anyway, it’s a versatile concept that could be used in many ways from just mysterious to actually scary.

I really like the masks, at first I was a bit confused because I thought these were their faces, before reading what you wrote there, but as masks these are neat. Also they are something I can see Nintendo going for, I mean, they literally gave Allister a creepy mask so why not?

Overall, yes, I like it! The concept is neat! As a basic premise for a team that works well for me, even if their goals are unclear. You are basically making the “unclearness” part of the concept. Also really like how you wrote their description in a Pokédex-style, like... the text really reminds me of Pokémon stuff. :3

The only thing I’m still kinda curious about is how this could be developped in order to remain interesting throughout the whole game/story (if a game/story were to be made with it of course), because in terms of narrative, just “it’s a mystery” with no further development can become rather boring or repetitive, or seem kinda disconnected from the rest of the narrated events (depending on how it’s done). Also it could be a problem if the mysterious events are not explained *at all* in the end (half-explained and up to interpretation endinds are good alternatives in my view, but, at least for me, “we’ll never know who they were after all” tends to be a disappointing ending).

Basically, I like the overall idea you gave me, there’s nothing here that I think is a bad idea, but I would find it hard to use if I were to make my own story with them because of the problems above. Maybe you have all that in mind and you already have a superb story with them that works perfectly well, in that case, great, I just wanted to mention what I thought of the concept in practical terms as a (bad) fanfiction writter. XD

BUUUUUUT of course I’m not the executive producer of Game Freak receiving the concept for the next game that I should review or anything, so all this is irrelevant. Even if you didn’t develop their story any further, that’s totally fine. You don’t even have the obligation of thinking this through and answering these questions, you can definitely just make your concept and visuals and not actually use it in a game/fanfiction/comic etc, that is perfectly ok. I’m just a boring person graduated in Language Arts that will go and make boring analysis of stuff. XD

About the art... I think it looks really cute! I don’t wanna go and criticize stuff based on style, like “the heads are too big, limbs are too thin” or something like this, because this is just your style. It’s an aesthetic choice. I could say that the heads are larger than what they usually are in Pokémon games, but honestly, so what? You don’t have to emulate the Pokémon style in order to create Pokémon content. So yeah, you can play with proportions as much as you want and since the drawings seem consistent in terms of symetry and style, that’s just ok.

That said, my only criticism might be...

1. The female grunt’s legs seem a bit too long (even considering the stylistic choices, I’m comparing her body proportions to that of the male grunt). Basically, if you put that same lenght of skirt on the male grunt’s body, it would go down to his socks, but on her she still has the same amount of skin + socks + boots under all that, you see? So maybe make her skirt shorter or make her boots and socks shorter... Or give up on showing parts of skin. It’s easy to lose the sense of proportions under loose clothes like skirts, but if you trace the body silhouette under her skirt, that will probably become clearer. It’s always nice to try and make a full silhouette or skeleton before drawing clothes, in my opinion. (Also this could have resulted from the angle you took the picture! could be just a distortion on the photo that made it look different, so if that’s the case, ignore this XD)

2. This could be a stylistic choice too, but I’m gonna mention it just in case, the limbs look kinda “noodle-ish”. This can also influence your measurement of body proportions like “where exactly does the arm bend”, “where exactly is the knee”, this sort of thing... Of course, as I said, it could just be style, like Adventure Time, for example. They just have those noodle arms. But since I don’t know if that was a conscious choice or not, I decided to mention. Lots of people (including younger me) start by drawing arms (and hands!) as a “continuum”, so if the arms are streched, they are just one straight line from shoulder to hand (some people will even make it shoulder to fingers and put the hand in the noodle pack). And if the limbs are bent, the elbows and knees, fingers and wrists, fold in not very precise places. However, I found it easier to draw arms, legs and hands by subdivinding these limbs into smaller sections. It’s easier to keep them proportional and understand how they bend. You made their arms fully stretched in a way where elbows are not visible and, in the girl specifically, seem a little bit short? Again that can defintely be used as stylistic resource, so only consider this tip if you’re aiming for a more realistically-proportional style.

3. You may wanna make the male grunt’s feet a bit larger? Also they are inclined and I don’t know if that was done intentionally or not. (or if it was just the paper bending a bit when you took the pic).

I’m like... not a professional artist or a teacher or anything. I’ve literally never studied art, so when I give out these feedbacks, they are usually based on my own life-experience and what I’ve learned drawing. But it’s always hard to set the line between style and mistakes. I was once told that you must first learn the basics of actually proportional anatomy before you can start playing with it, so when people ask me for tips, I try to stick to the things I’ve learned myself while developing my knowledge in anatomy and proportions. Not that I am like.. an expert, of course. So yeah, basically, don’t take my criticism as the ultimate truth, I’m still just learning just like you. ^^

About suggestions and improvements: Maybe add something to their canes, on the handle part? And maybe adding detail to their boots... But only if you want to of course. Also, have you thought of eyelashes for the masks, like... eyelashes on only one eye or something? This wouldn’t be for the grunts because I think they look great just like that and are already complex enough, but you might wanna use that for admins or something? Specially if it’s eyelashes on the lower half of the eye.

I also would like to say that I couldn’t read everything you wrote, sorry.... I’m bad with handwriting! So forgive me if I said anything redundant that you had already put in the info. ^^

And finally... I don’t usually make reaction things in submissions, only during ask events, so forgive me for not giving you the villains reactions here. I hope you understand. ^^

Kind of a weird curiosity. But I remembers years ago when there was talk over what it'd be like if Allen had been a girl instead (I even read a girl!Allen fic about her time with Cross. It was surprisngly good. Probably because it had no shipping =p). For some reason I just start thinking about that topic again and I wonder how Allen and Lavi's dynamic would be? For the most part I don't see most of Allen's dynamics changing at all (except more (more) fanboys. Lol). But then I remembered Lavi -

2 and I think it's been pointed out Lavi treats females a bit differently. He doesn't seem to prank or tease them as much as the males (not that he's the perfect gentleman either. Komui Talks makes me wonder how innocent he actually is XD). Nor give them nicknames. With this is mind I wonder if Lavi would still act the exact same (chaotic prankster. Touchy feely physically. Retaliating over rough housing) or if he'd tone some things down but do other things more (maybe try to be more like a -

3 big brother initially if he kinda of bases off from Lenalee and Komui, w/o the complex, to get closer to a female Allen?). Lol, Idk. This is kind of more of a Lavi meta question since it's been stated Allen's relationship is utterly crucial to Lavi's character. Again, I'd be curious if a dynamic w/girl Allen would be slightly different or the exact same (in a you're an exception. And people bop him more because 'stop picking on a sweet girl' while Allen cackles menacingly from behind).

Oh my this is... interesting to think about.

I think it’s fair to start with... the fact that Allen was originally a girl. Or more- when Hoshino pinched the idea to Shounen Jump she made a one shot with a main character called Robin. Here you can find it. And Robin... was an akuma. A girl in a boy’s body. Long story short, you can read the one shot if you hadn’t yet - but ye that was originally the character we were going with.It’s to argue that it would make a point for Robin planned as a transwoman in those instances.

According to the Gray Arc however, when the series became serialized, her editors were against the idea, because “No one would care if a girl would be crying”. That’s litterally word for word the reasoning. So Hoshino had to scrap it.

and she mentions quickly that it was one of the reasons she had no idea what to do with Allen to start with. He kinda started with him being a revamp of her character. (What I admire a lot with Hoshino is how much Her Vision can be affected by little things? Like how Lenalee became an entiere different person in her head the moment her editors forced her to have her with long hair.)

There’s also the elephant in the room that considering the timeperiod it was originally written. DGM was originally published with some big name shounen, Shounen Jump had some control over some choices, would react to fan backlashes (Lenalee being forced to have her hair long again is among those btw) ect... I mean like I think people may take for granted that for instance, the Alma arc was a complete anomaly when it came out in 2009/2010. That it had like. Major effects on fanbases. I’ve seen so much dudebros yell at this arc while i was thriving my friend. And tbh before the Alma arc DGM was often lurped in the “basic Shounen” category. A lot of people argued about the tropes it had to follow or not, and if this sort of things had any impact on the writting of the manga earlier? I can see how things wouldn’t go smoothly.(The Alma arc rooted out all the bad dudebros i’ve known of though. I don’t even care what people’s reaction nowadays are to it, to me back then, from the experience i got from fandom, it was revolutionary when it came out.)

I’ve stired away sorry, but Lenalee also works better, bc I know Hoshino fought for the Alma’s arc and that her editors didn’t agree with the direction she was taking. But if you read some of the interviews of the Grey Arc specifically, you see that Hoshino was constantly told how to rewrite Lenalee to fit a male audience sort of. Her editor pushed her to have long hair bc “that’s the kind of idol he found cute”, there was a complete backlash when Hoshino managed to cut her hair, the fans supported the editors, Hoshino talks all about it with such a bummer because “her Lenalee” had short hair. (also during that specific interview her editor calls her a moron. Later on she got called very annoying for sassing her editors after they called her dumb when she had a writter block writting the 14th song, and she sassed them asking for help going “since you’re far more intelligent than me-”. And the editor failled hard, Hoshino didn’t even use his writting, and the editor insulted her for being bossy. Needless to say I’ve since then been filled with anger with how the early days of DGM must have been hard on Hoshino).

I’m forced to make this preface because I truly think it would have affected Allen’s writting had he been a woman. 

If i’m optimistic i would like to think that nothing much would change because Allen’s writting kinda transend genders. But If i’m realistic i know it wouldn’t have happened.

As for Lavi specifically (wouh 7 paragraphs in and i’m finally touching the point of this post) the thing is that he also has a soft spot for women. (I mean i personally would argue he describes Dug as “cute” far too much in his novel to be 100% straight but he at least show his attraction to women more easily in the manga). 

And ye he does tend to treat the women differently but he also doesn’t... have a lot of women to be around to. I mean Lenalee whom he respects (and can be worried Komui will kill him if he tries anything), Miranda that he kinda met at the wrong time? He was always so overly serious around her because he was griefing and we didn’t see him with her at all since he got better. Aside then from his occasional crushes, that he does let himself feel, he didn’t really have an opportunity to spend more time with those women.

My point is just that the women he had met don’t help us set up a patern about how he treats them more casually: in term of pranks for exemple. Like in the day-by-day, we only have Lenalee and Miranda, and pranking Lenalee would be really putting a target on him to be murdered by Komui, while I would argue that Miranda’s anxiety (and the circumstances in which Lavi met her) would make him go softer on her. It doesn’t mean we know for sure he wouldn’t tease a woman in his peer surrounding in others circumstances.

I would love to think he would make an exception for Allen if only because of the timing: He was still handling Dug’s recent death and I think even if Allen was a woman the parallelisms would be there for him to be bitter. 

I want to think that because of that Lavi would still have teased Allen normally like he teases guys. But it’s not impossible that he would have treated Allen differently.

I think eventually like... If Lavi recognizes his soft spot for women (that it is with his strikes and whatever) he might actually be more ready to keep a guard up around them? Like I personally think he has a major soft spot for Lenalee but it took eventually Allen shaking everything up for him to acknowledge this soft spot. That he would have otherwise just protected himself against.

That, the reason our Allen was so effective was that Lavi really, really didn’t expect anything like that. and I think expectations would have been his doom, and I am inclined to think if allen had been a woman, he would have had some expecations.

Regardless: The major plot points that changed Lavi’s mind on Allen were emotionally driven and would still have had the same impact had Allen be a girl, i’m convinced of that. 

So it’s only on how he would treat that Allen more casually. And tbh... considering how vicious Allen can be, I feel like if Lavi treated her “more softly”, Allen’s reactions would probably have ended up with Lavi going “nevermind she’s a prick” and tease her just like he teases our Allen. I mean just taking the Vampire’s arc, with a whole joke about when Allen got bitten and that Lavi was lowkey scared because of that that Allen would turn into a vampire- in the term of, Allen being a danger to him. And Allen therefore sassing him because Lavi was being a moron. I don’t see how the gender would have changed anything, and if Lavi did treat Allen softly “as a girl”, I think this sort of things would have stopped him dead in his track as in “ye no she’s a PRINK where is my sharpy i’m gonna draw on her face.”

But that’s wishful thinking. I honestly don’t know and I think a lot of this post is more how i’m tryng to reason it. 

I’m sure more people would be more able to pinpoint exactly the characters and how it would work. I think i can’t ignore what went down backstage in term of the women’s writtings  so i cannot help but let it affect how I would see the manga as written by Hoshino be affected by it. But also perhaps if Hoshino had managed to keep her female main character, she could have gone more “fuck you” to her editors and manage to flesh her out to a point where half of what i’m worrying about wouldn’t even matter. 

If we divorce the story from the backstage stuff, perhaps there would be a complete different take to have - and it’s cool if people get to explore it. I am just... not the one placed for that.

I used to be good at transformative media, like headcanons and fics, and let those a little take over, but I got kinda insecure of my interpretations so i started to rely on canon a lot more. I already get insecure when I push my interpretations of canon too far. So something that really get me out of my comfort zone is not where you’d find the best answers about that, i’m sorry. 

But hey i hope this ask made sense? If not for the second half, at least for the half where I mention the backstages issues.

Lesbian’s view on Cyberpunk’s Story

I think it it’s kinda obvious, but just in case: SPOILERS for the game Cyberpunk 2077

Ok, I’m probably LATE to this topic, but I wanted to talk a little bit of Cyberpunk 2077 and the romantic options you have playing as a character with female body/voice in that Game. I finally finished it last night, I’ve been playing it on and off over the past two months. 

For context, I love the universe of Cyberpunk, I used to play the pen and paper game back in the day, and the only part that didn’t really hook me was that the people I used to play it with were obsessed with the combat aspect (that, and the infamous dick implant). For me it was a super interesting world, concept, that had LOTS to say about our own world (and I’m mortified to say, got so many things right about were things are going, or currently are). So when the trailer dropped, I was hyped as F. The teaser trailer was great, it combined all the elements I loved, although I was worried that focused too much on the combat, but I had hopes.

Then the game dropped, it was a glitchy mess, and I decided to wait until they fixed it before giving it a go. And forgot about it, until two months ago.

Now, I loved the story overall, not happy about the “No ending is really a happy one”, but it’s thematic to cyberpunk, you never really win in that world. The corpos maybe, but not if you are an everyday person, much less if you are an Edgerunner. But there are some story elements and decissions that kinda annoyed me. So I’m going to try and describe what I felt from 2 important story elements: The Endings and The Romances.

The Endings

I’ll admit that I’m the kind of girl that does google the possible endings and decides which one she wants to experience, I know, I’m spoiling the surprise, but I like trying to aim for endings I feel are a satisfying closure for how I played the character.

And they all sucked. The only one I kinda liked (although, it has the ominous “months to live” part) was the Aldecaldos ending, and that one had an issue too, but more on that later. All of them came in two flavours: 

a) If you choose to live, because you want to continue your story, because you don’t want to die, then, you have endings that basically say: You’ll live, for now, but die a slow and painfull death. Your loved ones will see you slowly fade away and die.

b) You be a Hero, ignore the feelings of everyone around you about losing you, go in a blaze of glory, become a Legend.

And it kinda feels like it’s a sort of judgement on the writting team, like “Oh, you want to live, you coward?!?”. I know I’m probably reading too much into it, but it’s how it made me feel. Like they wanted you to see things Jhonny’s way and want to stick it to the man and be a legend.

And about Panam’s ending, there’s something that annoyed me about it. I wanted that final scene to be with my Love Interest (in my case Judy, but more on that later), but it kinda feels like the writting team decided that the Optimal Option was Panam, and you should have that beautiful moment with her, regardless of who you choose. Which is worst considering that with the unmodded game, only male body/voiced V can have a relationship with her. I wanted to have that final moment with Judy, but I only get to have a talk with her before jumping in the tank (albeit, a really nice talk, I’ll give them that).

And since we are on the topic... 

The love interests

I won’t talk about Kerry, because I didn’t play as Male body/voice V so I didn’t get the option (and to be honest, he’s a hot mess anyway haha), but about the other three main options, I have opinions.

The thing is, it kinda feels like the writters wanted you to fall for Panam. And don’t get me wrong, she’s cool and all, but the way my interactions with her went, I didn’t really like her in that way, it felt like we could be good friends, but she had character traits that I didn’t really like for a romance. So when during the mission when you are spending the night together, I didn’t even try to flirt with her, I knew in the back of my head that she was going to say “Not into girls”, but still, didn’t even try. We were good friends, and that’s it.

Then there was River... and I didn’t feel ANY attraction to him. It wasn’t only that he was a Very Manly Man (tm), but it kinda felt like he was written to be appealing to women from the point of view of a guy (”oh, let’s make him very family oriented, but with a tortured past, but with a good heart, but doesn’t play by the rules”), Maybe I’m wrong about him, but there was 0 appeal. And then that line.... the least romantic line in the planet to tell a girl how you feel about her. Again, no interest in him.

And then, there’s Judy.

Not going to lie, I have a massive crush on her haha. But because she felt genuine, she felt almost real. I have the strong suspicion that her dialogs and story were written by a woman, because there are subtleties that I found lacking on the other two options (and were the more obvious in contrast with Judy’s). She is empathetic, she cares in a more reallistic way. I dunno, maybe it’s a bias I have because I really like her, but every call or chat by phone with her felt like the ones I would have with people I know, while the other two options, felt... written. It really annoyed me that that final scene on the tank is not with her if you choose her. Yes, I did go through a LOT with Panam, but so did I with Judy. In conclusion (sorta) I could ramble on and on about these two topics, but at some point I have to close it. I was left with the feeling that this story was written with more focus on the Male body/voice V, and from a more male perspective. I know, I should be grateful that at least one of the characters at least felt as if written by a woman, or someone that at least knew enough women to write a real feeling one, but it kinda sucks, because Cyberpunk was always about finding your own path, not letting what’s stablished and what the corps say dictate what you do. That was the core of the game, the world is fucked, the game is rigged against you, but you will do your damned best to find your own path amongst all the bullshite.  I want to hope that for the incomming releases, both the “expansion” and the second part, they’ll get it better, not right, just improve a bit. I’m not TOO hopeful, but there’s that little part of my Cyberpunk fan heart that wants to believe it can happen.

Summary:  Shane was dead: to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that, to quote ‘the’ Charles Dickens with an emphasis on the ‘dick’. They didn’t tell you the great Victorian novelist was also a grade A asshole in high school but then again what do they tell you in high school? Shane Madej was dead, as dead as one disembodied soul standing seemingly above his own corpse probably can be.’

Commentary: holy shit balls y’all. this fic hits you right in the feels. whether it’s the style of the author���s writing or the slow burn that makes you beg for the two idiots to kiss. it’s an enjoyable story that everyone can enjoy that deals with heavy topics and sheds light on to them.

show me what i’m looking for by bodhirookes

Summary: Shane works at the university library and, somewhere in between fighting with Keith about everything and nothing, sharing contraband snacks with Sara under the help desk, and trying to avoid being killed by his take-no-prisoners boss, Quinta, he meets Ryan Bergara.

Cute, smiley Ryan Bergara.

Conspiracy theorist, believes that the Whaley House is haunted and that Amelia Earhart got abducted by aliens Ryan Bergara.

And Shane regrets hiding from Quinta in the History section because now he wants to kiss a ghost hunter.

Commentary: I got an update for the story a few weeks ago and I realized I subscribed to it and I never finished reading it. So I continued reading it and wow did I want to slap myself for deciding to stop reading this. It’s just amazing. And I’m a huge sucker for slow burn and this just screams slow burn. I’ve re-read scenes over and over again because it’s just that powerful. 

The Devil’s In The Details by chaoskiddeer

Summary: Shane had never thought too hard about taunting ghosts and demons. But it only takes one badly placed joke to invite in something that is better off left alone. His and Ryan’s comfortable friendship is going to be tested to its limits when a demon unleashes a storm of uncertainties into both of their lives. One thing’s for certain: Once the storm passes, his and Ryan’s relationship will never be the same again.

Chapters: 15/18

Commentary: holy crapola is this a good fic. I remember seeing this on my dashboard and setting low expectations for this fic due to the fact it seems like all demon!Shane fics are similar. Shane is the demon, Ryan finds out he’s a demon after a ghost or another demon tries to go after Ryan and so on (no hate though to demon!Shane fics). However, this is so different where as the demon posses Shane but however, Shane can control it and the demon can as well and I genuinely love it. And while it uses demonology terms and since I’m an atheist who has no darn clue about demons, the author explains to the reader about what the demon is and doesn’t like put paragraph after paragraph explaining what the demon is. 

Believer by cellardors

Summary: Some demons and otherworldly creatures love climbing up the power ladder. Shane is not one of these. He likes where he is (thank you very much) and has no interest in moving up. All he wants is to give his friend Ryan a nice birthday gift. So, naturally, everything goes to hell.

Chapters: 17/17

Commentary: so remember how I mentioned most demon!Shane fics go like “shane is a demon, ryan finds out and so on and so forth”? well while this is it, the thing that makes me love it so much is that the author has their own little twist to the same demon!Shane plot (again, no hate, just stating facts thats how it usually goes from what I’ve seen). an example being as mentioned in the summary, there’s levels. fucking levels, man. that make it so cool and (demon!)Shane’s stance on the thing helps the reader understand Shane’s personality a tad bit more which is helpful. also, there is a “villain” that was different than most fics and this is just such an amazing fic and wow I just love it.

Summary: Ryan loves a lot of things. He loves his morning jogs. He loves eating cinnamon buns. He loves watching the sunrise.

Then one day, he meets Shane — and he begins to love him too.

Chapters: 16/16

Commentary: I just recently discovered this work and boy do I love it! It has the right amount of fluff and angst. It’s not all fluff but not all angst and it has a cute little plot. I love angst with my entire soul but when writers put it in the same work every other chapter, I get turned off. Luxbuhree writes the angst naturally and it comes when you expect it to and not randomly and it’s just a sweet lil’ fic that has a happy ending.

Summary: He’s scared, because a gun is pressed up to his head and he’s at the mercy of a man with an eye for money and no conscience to stop himself.

But what scares him more is that he kind of wants him to pull the trigger, just to see what would happen.

OR: Unsolved is being canceled, Shane and Ryan are drifting apart, and Ryan doesn’t know what to do.

Commentary: hoooo boy, now these are all my favorite stories on this list. However, this one takes the cake. As you know, there is heavy angst in this story and it’s throughout and I pretty much just said that I don’t like a story where it’s all angst BUT the only exception being if it can relate to me. For example, I can’t relate (SPOILERS FOR BELIEVER JUST GO TO THE NEXT SENTENCE) to having my demon friend sacrifice himself for me. But I can relate to the fact where everything in my life is going downhill and it just kinda sucks cause you’re in that Hamlet kind of mood where you don’t want to die but you don’t want to live either. I feel like that’s what makes a good writer: having your characters having the ability to connect to real life situations or people for that matter because then it sends this feeling like “wow, I’m not alone” and in this case, it deals with suicidal thoughts and (gonna get deep yall) as someone who has struggled with depression for most of my teen years and suicidal thoughts, I felt alone and this fic just kinda makes me feel a little less alone and there was a comment from the writter stating that they too feel what Ryan’s feeling and it just makes it a nice feeling. However, I do wish there was an update but alas, all of us writers have an outside life.

Ok weird FTA lore…. well there’s not much I can say without spoiling a major plot because most of my little headcanons are about one subject in particular…

Ok here’s one thing I probably won’t write into the story: there’s a lady who’s a few months pregnant on the ship. It’s her first baby and she’s terrified out of her mind because she’s all alone. Her husband was a warrior, so was her father, her mother never made it to the refugee camp and the one friend who did died on the bridge. It’s just her and the little one.

She hasn’t told anyone on the ship of her pregnancy. She’s both kinda hoping it’ll ‘go away’ and hoping desperately that she manages to carry it to term. A living piece of her husband.

What she doesn’t know yet is she’s going to find a new family on the ship. Her roommate will become her closest confidant, one of the cooks is going to experiment ENDLESSLY to try and help her pregnancy cravings. The healer she eventually goes to is gonna make her laugh despite herself. When her son finally comes into the universe aboard a space ship, even the king will celebrate at the party and the prince will bless her son personally.

She will be loved and so will her child. She lost her home but she will find a new one.

Well, basically I had to go on a trip with his family because his dad is doing the job I want to do so he proposed to show me everything and the guy came along with his brother to see too. (1)

And for a hour, his dad had to do administrative tasks so the 3 of us were left alone until his brother went calling their mom. So the guy began talking to me and at a moment he asked me about the fact I was more distant. And I messed up. Saying I wasn't feeling confortable with him anymore (which was true) and that it was for the better. AND. He knew about my friend who's into him and he told me he knew why I was distant so lying to him was useless. (2)

So I explained to him that it wasn't that I was into him but me being close was worrying my friend. He litterally said "Bullshit". So I said "Even if i'm into you, it isn't going to work out. I don't like you enough to put my friendship in danger and we both know she's an amazing girl. Also you're going to the same university next year so give her a chance." So he confessed to me but we agreed to never talk about it again and we decided to stay friends. (3)

And that's how we ended every chance with had. Because I'm litterally going to live at the opposite of the country so I'm sure he will be better by giving her chance when she's few meters away from him. I know I did what is right but is it normal for me to be hurt by it because I swear I wanted to throw up when I told him to give up. Anyway, I hope you're doing well and take care ! :)

It was in chapter 12---Ahri found out the balcony locks were numbers to Jiyul’s birthday. When Ahri asked him what the passcode was, it made him think of Jiyul and in turn, place him in a somber mood so it’s why he was perturbed when she asked.

My first kiss was a little weird. I asked for it. Literally. "Can you give me a kiss?" But besides that it was pretty nice. Short and cute, a peck on the lips.

This is a question that I have been working on forever. I could go with something simple and rather shallow such as my eyes or my waist, or the fact that I have been told I am an amazing kisser, but the truth is those are things sometimes I don't like or refuse to believe. The one thing I've grown to love honestly and be proud about myself is the fact that I consider myself someone very trustworthy. I have lost count of the people who have confessed to me having told me stuff they'd never told anyone, and I believe that is something great.

About three weeks ago! My cousins were having an asado (argentinian barbacue) and it was freezing outside so I just stood by the fire and warmed up as much as I could.

I would much rather love watching a sunrise (and immediately go back to bed).

Usually I just shut myself down and try to avoid people to avoid getting them down too. I try to distract myself until it passes, I watch movies or series, read stories, write poems and the like. If I'm not feeling too down I either text a friend to dristract myself or I try to set up a meet up with them within that same day to go out and clear my mind a little.

Does it count if the one person involved is the one I currently have a crush on? Last year a friend of mine had gone to NY and halfway through his trip we began texting each other all day. On their last day his family had to rush to the hospital cause someone had tripped at the airport and broke their feet, so they lost their flight, but they were getting on another plane later and so they had to stay up until their plane came. I ended up promising I'd keep him company. In the end they didn't get any tickets until two days later, but that night we ended up talking until way past five a.m. (far later after they got the news they werent getting out of the country that night) just about everything. The main reason though: we had both agreed the best time to be up talking to someone is four a.m., we had an hour of difference because of time zones, so I tried to stay up until it was four for him too.

Commentary - Why is Spongebob Squarepants currently TERRIBLE

What the hell happened, man? I remember when old and young ones said you were undeniably the best cartoon ever, I remember when they said that you were an improved version of Rocko and Ren & Stimpy.

They used to put you next to icons like Spiderman or Superman, now you’re not what you used to be. What happened? I understand that when a new concept lengthens so much, it stops being what it used to be. But that’s not the problem, Spongebob not only is not what it used to be, it’s just terrible. First the biggest and the most obvious problem is:

Flanderization: What is Flanderization? It is the most desperate resource of every mediocre writter. When a series has been aired for years, and now they’re out of ideas, the medicore writter resorts to turning the characters personalities up to eleven.

I’ll give you an example of what Flanderization is. Picture that I created a character, Totu. Totu is a soccer fan, he practices an hour everyday and values his friends and family. When the show has been airing for 6 years, the original writter leaves and now the medicore writter makes Totu to have soccer as his main trait to the degree of playing soccer naked on his backyard, at dawn, eventhough it’s snowing; sending his friends and family to hell. If they interrupt his soccer practice he’ll probably beat them up, and it’s insinuated that he probably has had sex with his ball and you get the idea.

What it used to be a relative nice and relatable character, now it’s a one-dimensional character, whose representative feauture is Soccer and his hobby is so over the top that it turned out nasty and obnoxious.

Another example of Flanderization is that a character whose favorite food is pie. As the show keeps going, he becomes a pie obsessive. Everytime he appears, he has to do something pie-related. He goes to pie convensions, he wears clothes with pie pictures on them, and he only talks about pie.

To this point is clear what Flanderization is about, and how you noticed, a lot of sitcom series suffer from it. I guess many of you see how this fits perfectly with New Spongebob.

Spongebob, who was a naive, but smart kid, now he’s idiotic as Patrick. Being an idiot never was his trait, he was just naive. He was devoted to his work, because he was a dedicated and industrious person. Now there’s an episode where he falls in love with a fucking hamburger.

UGH.

He bothered cranky Squidward because of his naiveness and for the most part because he was asking for it before, now it looks like he’s in love with Squidward, he spies on him and even breathes heavily in front of him.

In another episode, Spongebob buys a new pet as company for Gary, that pet transforms into a monster and is about to eat Gary, when Spogebob arrives he nags Gary because he thinks Gary is bothering the other pet.

Spongebob wasn’t that stupid in the past, he was able to recognize danger and he even risked himself to save his friends. This is not funny, it doesn’t fit with the show’s humor. It’s sadistic and maddening to the point of satiation.

What’s with the emphasis in making the characters to act like sadistic assholes? What’s the point of it? Patrick also has his problems, he was an idiot before, he didn’t truly affect anyone. He said dumb things and did harmeless idiocy.

Now Patrick is a danger, he’s no longer an idiot, he’s an asshole.

In this scene Patrick is “helping” Spongebob pouring glue so he can be stuck forever. NO really, he’s actually “helping him”

Everything he does ends up in Spongebob or Squidward getting hurt.

“Hahahaha! How funny, his best friend did this to him” – Current writers.

Making emphasis on how doesn’t Patrick realize on the physical or moral harm he’s doing.

I’m not surprised that the Internet hates him so MUCH right now.

Or even worse, making emphasis on how he doesn’t give a fuck about all of these. New Patrick’s levels of assholeness are so high that many episodes can be considered he’s got a villain status since his only function is to torture the characters. And of course, getting away with it.

It’s not like the good old days where karma existed on the series and whose do bad deeds ended up paying the price. Now the point is that the assholes get away and the innocents end up paying the price.

Sandy of course, her only trait is science. Plankton to this point is now a buffoon that makes Mr. Krabs to look like the real villain of the show. Mr. Krabs’ exaggeration for money is so ridiculous that he chooses a few coins instead of his friends or even his own daughter. It’s not like in the past when he cared for spending time with his daughter, helping her on her prom or spending money for Mrs. Puff or worrying about Spongebob’s health.

No, now Mr. Krabs doesn’t give two shits about them and his fatherhood has been exterminated. Now money is more like a sick paraphillia for him. Squidward, well, he was an embittered individual, now he’s sank on depression and every one of his scenes are amazingly painfull to watch.

Yes, it’s not fake. They’re truly suggesting suicide in “Spongebob Squarepants”

Flanderization is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive problems with new “Spongebob Squarepants” but there are also other problems.

Bad Direction: Spongebob Squarepants’ soundtrack is one of the catchiest of any cartoon, however the direction nowadays are wasting its long music repertory to repeat them over and over again. It’s like they lost the rights of the music and they can only use four tracks instead.

What the flying fuck is that?

The habitants design are getting more stilted and humanoid

some of them don’t look like fishes anymore.

And in general, it feels like the show is not going underwater anymore. The references to maritime stuff are gone and instead of putting coral as trees, now they’re putting normal trees. Its sea vibe is absent.

On the other hand, the animation which is not bad, is no longer expresive or visually fun as it used to. They forgot the visual gags, and have replaced them with grotesque imagery and moments. The reason why Hillenburg wanted a storyboard and script based show, is because he wanted the visual jokes to well represented.

And the 3rd problem with this dog’s breakfast is:

Jokes are slow or they’re not even there: There are new episodes where comedy is non-existant and no joke is happening. Other episodes take their comedy on making Spongebob cry or making other characters scream. It’s not enough to say that it is not funny at all and gets so irritating, meanwhile the old Spongebob, you had joke after joke, with well-made dialogues and visual gags; here jokes take an eternity or basically they’re not present.

I won’t deny that the in the old Spongebob had kinda slow jokes too, but there weren’t moments were Spongebob started to count or cry for TWO whole minutes.

We also have to point out that the majority of its comedy is based on cruelty, grotesque and disgusting stuff, the old Spongebob had grotesque stuff too, but it wasn’t the focus point of every joke.

ALWAYS, but ALWAYS, the SAME THING: There are only three types of episodes in this shit:

 One where the focus is to torture a character, (especially, Squidward) and making emphasys on their pain.2)   An episode with a grotesque premise. For example: Spongebob getting pus out of his zits.3)   Plankton stealing the Krabby Patty formula.

Writers seem not interested to try something different. I kid you not that I can’t count the bazillion times that an episode ended in Squidward or Mrs. Puff getting arrested. It’s like the writers can’t think of a different wrap-up.“Oh, we tortured Squidward already, what else can we do? Oh, I know, arrest him for some stupid reason, that can be funny”To this point I’m 100% sure that these writers are apathetic of their job and they hate what they’re doing. And finally the last point and the one I hate the most:

The show reduced itself to be the most mean-spirited, unfair, crudest, cruelest, and darkest as it can be (Dark humour done wrong): Also translated to a Ren & Stimpy wannabe. Everybody in this show is trying to make miserable to each other. Everybody hate their lives, everybody are fucked up on the head,

And the biggest focus in the series is to make you uncomfortable with all the shit the characters has to put up with, now is seeing Patrick hurting Spongebob, seeing Squidward going through physical pain and punnishing the innocent. It’s like the show is trying to be a Ren & Stimpy wannabe.

In Ren & Stimpy, the tortures had to do with situation, here happen just because. Out of nowhere. Without a funny context in the situation. It’s just a show made for making the characters suffer most of the time. I know that Squidward suffered in the old episodes, but mostly was because he was asking for it.

He (Squidward) also had his glory moments like in “Band Geeks”. Now Squidward can’t sit down to relax because Spongebob and Patrick come to burn his eyes out, rip peaces of skin off, and of course ending up getting arrested or homeless.

I really don’t have nothing against sadistic humour, I think it’s funny in many series, but Spongebob Squarepants, whose humour wasn’t focused in that, and it had touching moments, it really feels forced and shocking.

The specific moment when the show started its decline was when “Good Neighbors” premiered. Like I said all the characters in the past had their well-deserved reward and well-deserved punnishment according the karma.

Now in the new episodes, Mrs. Puff and Squidward were in so many death-risk moments that they want to KILL Spongebob. It gets far from funny and it gets uncomfortable, disturbing and ruins the touching moments of the show.

“This is not funny, it’s INSANITY, it’s DISTURBING, seriously, this is not “Drawn Together” or “Family Guy”. This was supposed to be aimed to 8-Years old”

Meanwhile, in another dimmension

Like Mrs. Puff worrying for making Spongebob pass, Squidward felt sorry for making Spongebob cry or even Squidward cryied for Spongebob because he thought he was dead. And even when Squidward gave away his belonging on Christmas to make Spongebob happy

What happened to you, man? I used to be your fan, at the end there’s nothing else to see, another screw-up from Nickelodeon, and another show that doesn’t deserve new episodes, if the 2nd movie is either going to be good or bad, I really don’t know what to think, I hope I do, and it may be the finale, nevertheless, the damage is already done.
