I have finally finished 2.4 and oh my GOD watching Dan Heng be so protective of his friends nearly killed me, MY HEART.

And yes, the cutscene where he pushes the trailblazer out of the way and even cushions their fall with his own body, but I mean even before that! When he was already trying to protect them and March 7th from Feixiao and Lingsha!!

Because if you watch the dango trio throughout the main quest, you'll notice that they often position themselves in the same way, which is a detail that makes me super happy that Hoyo thought to include- when the three of them aren't evenly spaced, March 7th and the trailblazer tend to gravitate towards each other and stand very close together, frequently side-by-side. And by comparison, Dan Heng usually stands slightly away, and often even slightly behind them, where he can pull on their leashes to wrangle them keep an eye on them.

This is probably a habit learned through experience, since March 7th said during Belobog she is the "queen of unannounced disappearances" fjdksajfkldjsak

And of course at least a little bit of it is just done for like, aesthetic purposes. It's a video game. Things have to look nice for the player. The trailblazer and Dan Heng are the same height, March 7th is a bit shorter, and Yanqing is even smaller. It makes sense to have the trailblazer and Dan Heng stand on the ends, with March 7th and Yanqing in the middle, it just looks nicer and more balanced that way. But still! Even when they're accommodating for Yanqing in this quest, they still all arrange themselves the same way, almost every time!

But this changes after Dan Heng and Yanqing become suspicious of the visitors from the Yaoqing.

The dango trio still stand around relaxed and in their usual manner when they go to the artisanship delve and meet Skott,

but Dan Heng takes notice of Lingsha when she arrives, and he and Yanqing mentioned her specifically when discussing their worries.

Yanqing worrying so much about Jing Yuan got me right in the heart, he's such a good boy WEH

And when the four of them go out to the alchemy delve to meet Lingsha for tea, the pattern breaks. Suddenly Dan Heng is standing right up front, and even walks in and enters the scene before March 7th and the trailblazer to get to Lingsha before them. He stays a step in front of them the whole time, too.

And then when Dan Heng and the trailblazer have to go be interrogated by Feixiao! The same deal! Dan Heng walks in ahead of them and stays in front of them! Noticeably so! Enough that even Feixiao takes note and voices it!

Dan Heng is so so fiercely protective of his companions, and I love it, I adore hyper vigilance in the wake of trauma like this, I'm so excited to see what else he does in 2.5, I hope we either get to see him get fucked up or the trailblazer gets fucked up in his place, I wanna see them run through the meat grinder!!!

Feyd has always hated physical touch. The kind of intimacy that one would share with their lovers. He felt himself shiver in disgust at the thought of being emotionally intimate with anyone or anything, really.

He never allowed his harpies/concubines to caress him in a soft and domestic way. It made his stomach churn, and he always threatened to slit their throats if their hands lingered for even a second too long.

He never wanted to be hugged by his brother and certainly didn't want any sort of touch coming from his uncle.

Sure, he would play with the slave warriors in the arena, and he let the servants apply paint onto his skin before every match. But he didn't tolerate any of that romantic intimacy.

Feyd-Rautha did not need to be vulnerable with anybody.

That was, until he met you; his arranged wife and daughter of Leto Atreides. You completely fucking bewitched him.

You were the sweetest thing he's ever met. Shy, a bit awkward and with a kindness he's never seen on other people. But you were not a delicate flower. You've been through many things. You were fierce when you wanted to be, yet decided to stay kind.

You had a weirdness to you that you only ever expressed when you were with your family; a weirdness that only ever came out with the people you trust and love. He was, unfortunately, not one of those people.

He only saw glimpses of your personalities, a small crack of light in the many walls you've built to protect yourself. He never knew that he would soon be the one to desperately want to see you. The real, true, and beautiful version of you and not just the quiet, nervous, and grieving version that is shown in the Harkonnen palace.

It made his heart squeeze, and his stomach churn. He absolutely loathed the thought of you being terrified and depressed. Yet it made his heart and stomach drop at the thought of himself being the cause of your miseries.

Yet the tension was still strong between you, and you didn't dare speak a word in fear of upsetting your arranged husband.

Of course, being arranged husband and wife, you had to display little acts of affection to prove that your marriage wasn't weak or easily broken. From time to time, you would hesitantly squeeze his hand and place a small, shaky kiss on his cheek; hoping this would satisfy the public and wouldn't make your arranged husband want to slit your throat.

Feyd-Rautha never thought he would completely melt to such small acts of affection.

Every small kiss, hand brushed against yours, every moment where you would lock eyes-Feyd could feel his heart beating a little faster as his lips would part in a silent hitch of his breath.

Over time, he believed he wouldn't be able to take it anymore; Feyd needed to experience the soft, sweet touch of your hand caressing his face, the honey-like taste of your lips against his and the warmth of your body tangled in his own-

And it wasn't just the physical touch, either. He longed to have silly conversations with you and to hear the music of your laughter dancing like a melody in his ears. He wanted to see your bright, warm smile shining when you saw him; he wanted to learn every habit and detail you had and write gospels about it and put them into the Harkonnen history and culture.

He fucking hated the fact that you both slept in separate bedrooms. The only reason he allowed it was because he valued your privacy; but that didn't mean he wanted to break through those doors and hold you in his embrace until he couldn't anymore.

You were the only thing that would plague his mind every second of the day and entirety of the night. He only cared about you; you and you only.

Feyd-Rautha would dream of you, dreams that would feel that they could make ones heart burst with light and love. He soon dedicated every kill to you; a promise that he would return to you safe and whole no matter if he fought a slave warrior or a soldier.

You were praised and worshiped without even knowing it.

You had him completely wrapped around your beautiful finger, yet it was almost laughable of how you didn't seem to notice-or care, in fact.

You still feared the Harkonnens, even your betrothed husband. And you had every right to, Feyd was not delusional. Yet, that didn't mean he didn't feel his heart being stabbed every time you scurried in the opposite direction whenever you caught a glimpse of him.

Feyd-Rautha believed he was falling completely in love with you, everything about you. Soul, body, mind, and all. He would kill for you. He would kill himself if he even thought of laying a finger on you. Yet you still feared him and were too deep into your sorrows to realize this.

But that was alright, he didn't mind waiting. Even if his mind and heart were practically screaming at him to tell you what he truly felt about you, but sadly, he would have to wait. He hated waiting.

But for you? He would wait an eternity. He would wait and count all the stars and the planets as his love grew for you every moment of the day and night. So that when you finally opened your heart, he could overwhelm you with the infinite love he had for you.

Perhaps Feyd-Rautha's love for you would be enough for the both of you. And that would be alright.

Every waking moment, he feels like he will die if you do not tell him you love him back.

you’re the only person who ever sees gojo with his mask off. 

when he walks through the front door, you notice the happy go lucky expression on his face fall immediately as the muscles finally relax, like the effort to keep them in place is exhausting on its own. the corner of his mouth perks up in the smallest grin, and relief washes over him when he makes eye contact you. he immediately swoops in for the biggest, warmest hug and his fatigued voice drops an octave as he mumbles a hello into your shoulder. he’ll snuggle up right next to you when you’re in bed, nuzzling his nose into the crook of your neck with his arms entangled around your waist as he lays his head softly on your chest. he closes his eyes and relaxes against your touch when you play with his hair, gently breathing as he gradually drifts off into sleep.   

yes, he can be goofy, and idiotic, and too loud, and overly dramatic, and childish...but he desperately craves these quiet, peaceful moments with you.
