At first, when watching The Apothecary Diaries, I didn't really want Jinshi and Maomao to be together. I mean, I wanted them to be, but since Jinshi was obviously so much more in love than Maomao, I did not think that it would seriously work out. However, I’ve changed my mind. As I haven’t actually read the light novels yet, some of the information I’m going to use is based on what others have said, and I can’t really confirm 100% if it is true, but since these are discussed somewhat in the community, I feel like they are.

My top reason for thinking they are good together is the fact that they pay extra attention to and look at each other more than others. In Jinshi’s case, he is known for being immensely pretty, but because this is the only thing people look at when it comes to him, it causes him to have an inferiority complex about all of the other skills that he does possess. It also does not help that he is surrounded by anomalies of people who have super strength or are insanely smart, so he feels hopelessly average in comparison. Because of this, when he met Maomao, he thought that she would be the same—someone captivated by his beauty who does not see the real him—but it was the complete opposite. His beauty does not hold worth to her. While she obviously finds him attractive and is probably still attracted to his physical body, his worth to her comes almost solely from his personality. The times in the anime that we see best that she is VERY slowly falling in love are times when she mentions him behaving differently or behaving more like himself instead of the persona he puts on daily. She does find Jinshi annoying a lot, but she likes it when he is more youthful and less eunuch-like.

When it comes to Maomao, I remember that in an episode of the anime, Maomao mentioned how she knows she is hard to read. While Jinshi cannot read her, he still tries. Jinshi never backs down or gets put off when he doesn’t understand her apparent logic; he mostly just trusts her and her judgment. He is incredibly patient with her and honestly does not try to rush things (it is KILLING ME). He is extremely worried about her well-being and making the choice that she wants, not what he wants. It is like when he dismissed her from her job in the first part of season 1. He dismissed her even though he had the power to obviously just not do it but also to just kind of make her work even if she thought it was miserable in the rear palace, because I fear that’s what at least half of the men back then would have done. But even though at this time he had a rabid crush on her and knew he was going to be miserable like he was with his toys when he was younger, he did it since he thought that was what she wanted. Another thing Jinshi notices a lot is her injuries. After, I assume, the third time of someone noticing someone else constantly getting hurt but still either waiting to get help or just not getting it at all, most people would give up. Most people would not jump off a wall and carry them bridal style to the infirmary the sixth time, but Jinshi still did, and he did it with urgency. Every time she gets hurt now, he is always panicking and doing the most he can to help, even if it's most times him just screaming. He never gets tired of her and always wants to be around her at almost every moment.

I want to get the manga volumes and the light novel so badly, but I literally have a 50-bullet-point to-read list that just keeps growing because I’ve been stuck on Crime and Punishment for the last two months. But if anyone has some show ideas (they don't have to be anime) that I can yap about and make my brain work overtime, that would be very helpful.

The server wasn’t meant for public in the first place.

It was just something quick Johnny made just to have a little corner to hang out when they were on leave.

They rarely used it at first, finding no reason to communicate outside of work, they were busy with their own life anyway.

That was, until Johnny started sending pictures of literally anything in his daily life. It started with scenery, dogs he saw during walks, and selfies. Soon enough, Simon joined in with his own blurry pictures, then Kyle’s award-worthy photography, and John who sent the most normal pictures of some nice views worth sharing.

Eventually, interacting through the server became so regular that they started using it when they got back on base too– They never talk about something confidential in it of course, they were still professionals after all.

The gaming session was Kyle’s idea (Well, actually it was Johnny but he couldn’t convince them to play among us), they started playing various FPS games before settling for the popular one.

Kyle played casually, Johnny played competitively (and sucked at it compared to the others), John played it rarely but was pretty decent at it, while Simon was effortlessly good at it (Which he was so smug about).

The members consisted of people they knew from their jobs, so imagine their surprise when there was a notification about a new member.

Harry can be oblivious and clever. In fact, knowing how much he doesn’t know about the magical world is probably a pretty good indicator that he is pretty clever. A lot of ‘smart’ people have a hard time admitting they don’t know something.

Either you can approach that problem the way Hermione does by reading everything you can find on the subject and hoping it’s all accurate and up to date and comprehensive, or you can take the Harry approach and lean on soft skills and be like ‘you know what, I don’t know what this stuff is, but you know who will, my friend Ron who grew up around it, Ron what the fuck is happening?’

Alternatively, you can be the sort of clever but oblivious that falls into the street vs book smarts dichotomy a bit better. Harry can be objectively good at chess and have a natural aptitude for DADA and pick up other disciplines like Potions super quickly once given more accurate/thorough instructions like he gets in HBP from his potions book.

He can also just be a bit of a dork, someone who didn’t really have the chance to develop social skills with people around his age until he started Hogwarts thanks to the Dursleys so he is oblivious in the sense maybe he’s a little too trusting of his new friends being 100% right and not trying to mislead him for any reason (see: Hermione having to spell out why Romilda’s crush might actually be dangerous seeing as she’s looking into love potions, his comment about wanting to go to Slug Club holiday party with ‘someone cool’ and consistent bad date etiquette with Cho or Parvati because he doesn’t 100% know what he’s supposed to be doing, and his issues with understanding and processing his own thoughts and feelings a lot of the time whether that’s angry outbursts or his genuine confusion around Ron’s feelings around jealousy regarding Slug Club/Triwizard Tournament/Hermione on the run).

Or maybe he doesn’t trust anyone at all and is incredibly hyper vigilant after years of abuse to the point it’s actually a bit overstimulating to be around big groups so of course he doesn’t pick up on little social cues all the time because he’s busy watching the door to see whether whatever made that loud sound in the hallway might want to take a swing at him (see: Harry explicitly talking on several occasions about how he doesn’t like all the attention and wants it to stop during the Triwizard Tournament/6th Year, hesitancy about teaching the DA because he doesn’t feel like anyone is going to want to listen to a crazy guy, the way he seems to often position himself facing doorways when in groups).

Honestly, it can be (and there’s a canon argument that it is) all three. Harry can be very clever, have natural aptitudes for certain disciplines, shows interest in learning about a variety of subjects, clearly picks things up quickly academically in certain subjects. There are also some things he objectively doesn’t know (I.e. Wizarding traditions), or certain subjects he objectively doesn’t like (I.e. History of Magic), and at least some of the time he shows curiosity towards new areas of learning. He can also be a complete moron socially, whether that’s the way he handles his whole little kind of relationship with Cho or the way he clearly uses sarcasm to avoid actually dealing with his feelings a lot of the time. And of course, he’s also got a hyper awareness about him that there are people trying to hurt him, he does put people in danger with proximity at times, he does feel responsible for protecting his friends which includes very much the perceived need to distance himself from them at times, and makes him a tad inclined towards being out of the loop.

I need an argument to prove that Harry Potter is NOT a 'himbo jock'. I actually hate that trope so much and even more when it's shoved onto him. This dude likes playing Quidditch, likes the sportsmanship, but doesn't care to follow up on official teams. And he's so clever. People who said Harry is oblivious and nothing else damaged his reputation forever and it makes me so sad

According to Style his boyfriend always seems to have someone after him who wants to kill him (I mean, he's not a wolf like a certain sour wolf, but he is a sour killer who kills 'bad people' and his dangerousness lies in what he is and does that puts the lives of the people he loves at risk, which is why he constantly tells Style that he wouldn't blame him if he left him, that he would prefer it that way, for Style's safety) But Style always ignores what he says and instead, Style says that if Fadel is going to put himself in danger, then he will go after him

Okay, there's more, but I actually did this a bit out of order, because I literally finished the series yesterday, and I wanted to share these observations with you as soon as possible, sorry for the mess of my post, but I think you get the idea.

How each of those five sages took one part of Wukong in the form of a relic... And how the destined one gathered each part of Wukong (like Hyakkimaru from Dororo lmao)

The destined one already had his looks and if you play it right, his mind, then he took his five senses, and then he was supposed to fight WUKONG'S CARCASS which is macabre and fucking metal, and THAT STUPID CARCASS WAS SO FUCKING HARD TO KILL??

It makes us see just how stupidly powerful Wukong really is. How even his fucking corpse would beat the shit out of anyone, I truly believe even his broken shell could defeat Erlang. And that just confirms that Erlang and Wukong truly had a pact to kill Wukong in order for him to reincarnate in the future and finally be free from heaven's claws.

It's sad to think the great sage accepted this fate after centuries of mischief and adventures because he knew that death was the only way to get rid of the golden headband plus heaven's ever watchful eyes...

And just how fucking sad is that??? BUT ALSO CLEVER? He's so fucking smart he knew those who betrayed him (Bullking, Yellow rat, even fucking Erlang who he had agreed to help him on this...) would take a part of his power. He KNEW that it would be hard as shit to kill each of them and gather the relics, he didn't want to make it all easy for the destined one, he wanted his reincarnation to have the BALLS and the SKILLS to become HIM, not in reverse, Wukong is not the DO, the DO is meant to become Wukong, he is meant to forget the person he ever wanted to be or already was and actually become the great sage (which is a bit cruel...).

As the years went on, James started to stray from his unholy thoughts about the younger boy, and began focusing on a red haired girl, Lily Evans.

Lily was everything regulus wasnt, a wonderful girl with a heart of gold. She was smart, everything anyone had ever expected from their starboy. So James ran with it; but the problem was that lily didnt want him.

He was always there, and James tried to talk to him, but Sirius had been clear on the marauders rules.

A figure sitting dangerously on the ledge caught his eye in an instant; was that really Regulus Black? It was fate really, James thought to himself. Everything brought him back to the slytherin, however hard he tried to get rid of his unfaithful thoughts, he just couldnt. Regulus wasn’t convenient to James, but he loved him either way. Well he thought it was love, he hadn’t had much experience with romance, he was always too busy for anybody.

James didnt know if it was love- to him, the younger Black was perfect in all aspects: smart, funny? cunning, and beautiful.

It was impossible not to like him, Regulus was perfect. Everything about him, from his neatly styled hair or his cold eyes that never warmed up. The way he walked and talked and laughed with his friends. Oh how James desperately wanted to be the one to make him laugh, to make him cry tears of joy.

“Sirius. Just think of Sirius”, James mumbled to himself, yet his affirmations had no affect on his unknown feelings for the boy. Sirius was always James’ but his heart was so big, why couldn’t he just have both Blacks?

Suddenly, Regulus turned around and registered that James was there as well, invading his space and making him slightly uncomfortable. Their eyes locked and James was finally able to see his pearly eyes in the moonlight, they shone bright and glistened with James’ reflection.

“Your beautiful in this light” James took the risk, and hopefully he would be rewarded for it this time.

Regulus’ heart skipped a beat, no way in all heavens and hells that James Potter just called him beautiful? But thats what he did isn’t it, passed out compliments as if it were the simplest action in the world.

“Is that what you tell Evans? Ironic isnt it Potter”

“No- I just wanted to tell you what i thought” He knew he had messed it up. He spoke too soon and ruined whatever they could’ve had before it even started.

James was so bright and lovely, the sun shone though the gaps in his teeth and the pupils of his eyes. He was the sun incarnate, yet he still let Regulus shine in the dark.

And thats what he would do- let his crush on Regulus shine in the dark, but he would hide it during the day. He didn’t have to, he knew all his friends were accepting, particularly of Sirius and Remus’ pending relationship.

“Thats wonderful” James whispered in awe as he knelt beside the Slytherin. He took a shaky breath in, and his nose filled with Regulus’ scent; Mint and parchment paper. A faint smell of smoke, smoke that felt like home. So thats what James smelt in his amortentia earlier in the week.

I've heard that the writers chose to make Chakotay so desperate in Coda because it was a safe area to show his feelings for Kathryn, and that makes a lot of sense. Coda just boggles my mind, but here goes. What was real and what was Kathryn's imagination?

Real:

He's trying to revive her.

Then he uses a hypospray on her and she wakes up.

And this is also real, she really wakes up, first because there is no cut from one scene to another, he stops the resuscitation and then takes the hypospray, and she is not watching, she was unconscious at that time.

So this actually happened:

Chakotay tells her that he's going to get blankets and that they need to contact Voayger. See how this scene is rich in detail and emotion:

And then we have this shot of him running, but there's no one watching. If it were a hallucination, she would see him running, but the image is captured from above.

Hallucination:

When he comes back and talks about the burns in the case, she is already sitting down, this part is probably just in her head, because that is where she enters the cave and the time loops start afterwards.

And then we have them returning to Voyager and I believe that at that moment the alien started having trouble convincing her that everything was real, because the Doctor starts talking some nonsense, like for example, the fact that she contracted phagia, she ends up refuting everything, and the alien starts to get desperate and without options.

So the alien resorts to something more realistic. Back to the accident. And we have this scene:

Then we have a flash, clearly showing the change of scene.

And this scene is real:

The alien wants to make her believe that she is dead and is a spirit, so he shows her the real scene.

At this point, actual communication with Voyager occurs:

And there's a very important clue in this scene that gives it away as real. Tuvok says that the transports have crashed, and at the end of the episode, we see Tuvok and the Doctor on the planet trying to revive her, but they don't take her to Voyager because the previous statement was true. So that part can't be a hallucination.

Hallucination:

Honestly, this alien is not very smart. He shows her that the transports are down, the scene cuts and she is already on Voyager. Total inconsistency.

And then Chakotay just walks out of sickbay and he was super calm at her wake, whereas moments before he was desperate and crying.

And then we flash again, which cuts to a real scene:

And further ahead, another flash, showing another real scene:

One last flash and she finally wakes up, after literally sending the alien to hell:

And then she and Chakotay walk out hugging each other like this:

And then, you know, he gives her a flower and they go on a date on the holodeck:

I also started Fri//eren back in January; I just haven't found time to get back to it 😵‍💫)

I did finish Cher//y Magic! 🍒 (Though if you're sending me this message, I feel like you probably have already seen it around?). It's such a cute, fluffy romance/slice of life, that—despite its fantastical premise—is actually quite grounded, imo... a very cozy watch overall <3

I've also been wanting to watch Shi//guang Dai//liren (Link Click) at some point! I was also talking about watching Sa//saki to Mi//yano with a friend (if you're reading this, hi!)

we need more representation in media for people who are just dogshit at improvising snappy one liners. too many characters these days can come up with the smartest funniest thing to say in any given situation with zero rehearsal or hesitation and it's just not realistic. we need more guys who say shit like "yeah, well, um, how about you, uh, suck my dick?"
