HII ok so i have no fic recs as of rn (😔) so i'll have to stick with headcanons (also sorry it took me so long to answer this, i haven't had any ideas lol)

these three are so damn judgy. every party or whatever they're invited to ends w them standing in the corner gossiping about people

constantly taking in strays. it's a miracle luna is the only kid in their household.

LOTS of cuddles, these three are very codependent

can't think of anything else so moving onto partners... it depends very heavily on who the partner is imo so i'll do a few different people

first of all ginny since that's who you asked for, also bc i can be partial to linny occasionally

so i already said in one of my other posts about rosekiller raising luna (i think it was from an ask from you actually lol) that evan and barty give a shovel talk to luna's partner(s) and ginny's the only one who isn't scared

like nah this girl finds that shit funny. barty loves that for her

evan is a little uncertain about her but he's uncertain about everyone

(the chance luna's partners will be murdered by her parents the second they do something wrong is low but never zero)

they don't directly tell her who harry is when she goes to school (i mean, ofc she's heard of harry potter, but yk... in relation to her bedtime stories) but she figures it out

they make sure to tell her to treat harry like a normal person since they know most people won't

this mostly goes well except for the initial confusion + minor crisis harry has when luna starts telling him about jegulus lol

molly makes them weasley sweaters and insists on personally delivering them every year. nobody knows why she starts doing it, and she always excuses it as simply looking out for the neighbors, but really it's bc she knows what it's like to lose people to war. she lost her brothers, but barty, ev, & luna lost everyone

molly becomes best friends w barty and evan. luna loves her sweaters and if kindness wasn't enough of a motivator to keep bringing them, luna's smile is

luna hanging mistletoe all over the house for barty and evan

she gets a forehead/nose kiss every time she walks under w one of them

when they get bored they have competitions to see who can mkae the worst smoothie with what they have in the house

Hello! I recently found your account, and I went on scrolling down and down...and now I hope you know how grateful I am. Thank u- Merci. About 90% of the content you share here has made me feel so much better. I realllyy hope wonderful things happen for you. I've been a fan of hp since 2001, but I'm not really a social media person so I haven't been active in the fandom. I had no idea what was happening here until recently..two months ago to be exact (other details are not important) and omg.. I ended up in a discussion with some I think, new fans. tbh I thought, "Great! I'm good at this, I read all the books more than once Let's talk :)"  and omg their very first question was "What do you think about Regulus?"

I was like, "Who?" *dying from secondhand embarrassment bc It turns out I'm not that good at this

but as the discussion continued, I became more and more baffled bc "Why was everyone talking about Barty, Evan, and Regulus? who is daddy Remu? and what do you mean people ship James Potter with R.A.B.? What?"

I swear for a moment I thought "Did the writer publish a new book? Did I miss something? " tbh, I respect everyone's opinion it's none of my business but I'm still shocked. The only thing that bothers me is everything that happened with this new Wolfsar

omg, for most fans around my age (or at least people I know), Sirius was the complete portrayal of a bad boy- a rebel, with boots, tattoos, a leather jacket, and a fucking motorcycle. so this new Sirius is like a stranger to me, and that's okay. Mein issue is kinda with this new Remus T T my beloved .

They (the fans I was talking with) told me Remus is "tall, so handsome, SO strong, and hot-headed person because,  yk he's a werewolf." I was like "hot headed? excuse me?" I tried to explain to them that Remus being a werewolf is a metaphor for illnesses like HIV, it's not some superpowery gift.  they didn't believe me, but then they literally looked me in the face and said, "Then why would Sirius like someone like him? He's poor, short, and ugly." I swear I wanted to cry right then and there.

What is this mindset that makes some people think that a person should be, Idk, hot and flawless to deserve to be loved? Yes I don't think Remus is tall and super hot and perfect and isn't it fine? and I am 100% sure he's so beautiful. not like Sirius ofc but he has this "warm, cozy, and soft" sort of beauty. and I don't think he was a coward (ok maybe he was a liitle) but I guess it's easier for us, humans, to take the worst or weakest moment of a character and amplify it until it defines them entirely. and omg I'm so sorry for my rant and my bad english. but once again thank you for your beautiful soul <3 thank you

Hi anon! I, too, am baffled by the recent obsession with Regulus in this fandom. I think Jegulus is fine as a crack ship, but it has become so mainstream that many fans have just gone ahead and canonized it to the point that you'll be vilified for not accepting it as canon. I underestimated how popular the "best friend's brother" trope was, apparently. I also think it appeals to many fans as a Marauders Era version of one of the most popular ships of all time, Drarry.

This new version of Wolfstar is my biggest complaint with today's fandom, too! I get that the Marauders have very limited canon information and therefore we have more creative freedom to flesh them out, but I really believe that it has gone way too far. Sirius and Remus in today's fandom don't bear any resemblance to the characters they're based on. Remus is just a generic alpha werewolf OC and Sirius is his generic himbo femboy love interest OC. They don't even share a physical description with their Canon counterparts, and their personalities and character traits are so far removed that I can't even fathom how we reached this point as a fandom. How can you claim to like these characters if you have to change everything the source material says about them?

You're English is great, by the way! I completely agree that Remus has a cozy-and-warm sort of beauty. He made a point to distance himself from the stigma surrounding Lycanthropy because it was the focal point of his shame and self-loathing. And I just adore Wolfstar's dynamic from this lens, with the intimidatingly beautiful, confident, headstrong Sirius Black, who could have his pick of anyone he wants, choosing this ordinary guy because he's cozy and soft and it's exactly what Sirius wants after surviving the harsh ideals and abuse of House Black.

Oh my goodness. I love Outlander (I can definitely see the Jamie/Claire dynamic pairing well with the Marauders ships too) and this song... I am in tears. Literally speechless, so I'll type instead.

It works on two levels. There are the characters and their relationships with each other, and then there is the relationship between the reader or viewer and the work. I once saw someone refer to reading Marauders era fics as going home to be with your best friends. *SOB*

I get everyone ships differently and that is wonderful. I can read other ships and feel decent about sweet stories. But Jegulus, Wolfstar, the Snily dynamic I headcanon (I know most people don't agree with this one, that's ok), and Drarry (dare I even mention Rosekiller making it in there...), they are eternal. They are the end all be all for each other. They are all I can write because I write very emotionally, and I connect with all these pairings in my soul. They are all different but there are common threads and they are just so beautiful!

They are home to each other and to me.

PS The song in the background is called Home by Dotan and I just added it to my Jegulus playlist.

PPS Rosekiller is a more fringe ship, and I didn't get into it until recently. It is often looked at in a lighter, humorous, RIDICULOUS way. And I want to say there is something real there. I have an endgame vision for them which involves afterlife Regulus, James, and Evan going to retrieve Barty's lost soul from essentially hell. The place where your soul goes when a dementor sucks it out. Has anyone already written this? It gives me chills to think about.

hot take no one asked for: atyd is way too canon compliant for the marauders fandom

ok first of all i'd like to clear up some things. i know many people love it, it's a very very important part of the marauders fandom and it's very well written. no hate to enjoyers OR mskingbean89 (whom i respect very much, thank u). the wolfstar is definitely GOLDEN and the jily is adorable. this is a very personal view that i have been thinking about, and felt like sharing. also note that i dropped the fic and only got up till, like, fifth or sixth year

there are multiple things which id like to list from the fic that makes me not like it very much as a person with a lot of marauders hcs that are very much not canon compliant, and that feel like the author is writing from a very 'just entered the fandom cuz of wolfstar lol' understanding. again, absolutely NO hate intended, and ik the writing does NOT indicate how much the person understands about the fandom. also, understanding doesn't matter!! everyone who's part of the fandom is part of the fandom, and that's that.

keep in mind that these are things that I PERSONALLY hc. nothing is canon here in the marauders era fandom and if it is, it smells terrible and as such, everyone will have different ideas

also, while i'm at it, i'd like to compliment some things rq. remus portrayal and character development - PEAK. beautifully written. explanation and portrayal of mary (who's character i didn't really understand before reading atyd) - AMAZING. the relationship between the black brothers also made me cry (THE LETTER SCENE?!?!?! YALL KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABT). also grant is my bbg

here's the list:

hufflepuff dorcas (who also dated pete???) (i hc her to be slytherin and also part of the skittles)

no dorlene (a ship that's basically slightly less popular lesbian wolfstar in terms of how many ppl add dorlene to their stories (a lot))

shy marlene (whereas marlene is usually depicted as very bombastic and explosive and also very much gay). actually i liked this portrayal of marlene which was very well written and also adorable but... idk i don't see marlene as a shy girl

no evan rosier/pandora rosier/(slytherin) dorcas? only barty and regulus (so basically, no slytherin skittles/royal court/pantheon)

on that note, obviously-mean reg? (as in, instead of quietly sneering at people like many of us hc him, he outright shames ppl for being gay) (also i didn't mention barty cuz we all know barty's a little shit)

very toxic sirius (who ignored reg just bc he was sorted into slytherin, who fwb with remus and acted like it was normal and straight (guys fwb w a guy as a giy id bery much not straight), who didn't do much but fuck girls and cheat on them, who was outwardly jealous and mean to christopher, who acted weird and badmouthed grant after learning he and rem used to be tgt)

sirius hating pete (although this makes sense and is a common viewpoint of the harry potter fandom especially that pete is annoying or unlikeable, it feels rly rly cruel and makes sirius even more unlikeable imo cuz WHAT did bbg do to u he's js a kid he hasn't killed no one yet?)

all of these points show that mskingbean89 doesn't seem to pay much attention to characters (or more specifically, the fanon interpretations of characters) other than wolfstar and jily. many of these are key hcs that can be found in 75% of marauders content at least (example, dorlene) and the hcs they have seem straight out of hp (the books). ONE MORE TIME FOR THE PEOPLE AT THE BACK: THERE IS NO ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH THIS. i just personally don't see much of the content i love of the marauders characters (although ik that isn't the point of atyd, as it is wolfstar-centric)

ok that's all i got ty if u read this. pls do let me know ur opinion abt atyd! its def one of the pillars of the marauders era which many people use as canon and i don't mean to offend anyone in any way w this post. just an opinion

umm so first there are many variations of rosekiller, more than any other ship imo so im just gonna talk about mine??? my rosekiller are like complete opposites but then you look closer and they're still complete opposites but in the other direction like.....they're what the other thinks they are. as in evan thinks he's not like barty but he's more like barty than barty is and barty thinks he's not evan but he's more evan than evan is. they're obsessed with each other. like unhealthily so. its a sickness, almost. they keep it under wraps, but there's this pull between them, a string of energy that connects them with the blaze of a thousand suns. its electrical, leaves them feeling insane rolling around in bed unable to sleep. imma put a keep reading cause this shit got long

barty is an intellectual. he's an alcoholic. he LOVES poppers (the drug lol), keeps a Rush labeled bottle with him at all times, sniffs it whenever, wherever. like he'll be sitting in the subway and just bring it up to his nose. he likes sweet things. eats sour keys like there's no tomorrow. he's really into music like its his whole personality. everything he wears and does is consciously curated even if to other people he looks like a dirtbag. he makes people think he sleeps around but really its just a carefully constructed image so he can be left alone to be a rotting decrepit being. god complex but is unaware of it. he thinks he's soooo sexy but its a coping mechanism for the inescapable self-hatred he feels for himself. he's flirty but kinda awkward with it like its almost forced because he thinks of everything he wants to say before saying it so he never comes off as uncool or bothered. he doesn't really exist to himself. when he looks in the mirror for too long, he dissociates. he doesn't think of his body as a body its just a vessel he can shove things into and see what happens. he's a science experiment to himself, which is why when he meets evan he becomes irrevocably hooked, cause finally someone else sees him as that too!!!! yay!!!!

speaking of evan. my evan is tricky cause im still getting to know him. i know he has a giant fish tank with only one beta fish in it. he gives it the best life. he sees people in colors, he hates impurities, dirt, dust, anything like that. he doesnt like the texture of dirty (except barty hheeehhoooo). he keeps handcream on him at all times and various medicinal packets like aspirin, cough drops, acetaminophen tablets, etc. he's always got an earphone in, for sure. listens to gay shit like depeche mode and pet shop boys with a deadpan expression. his eyes are often expressionless but he feels everything so much it makes him gag. sensitive to the bone. can read anyones energy within two seconds. he's very decisive. like he'll look at someone for five seconds and be like yeah ok i like you. loves nobody but his sister and his fish. evan is also bent on domination. he likes to control situations and he's not afraid of doing so. not in any manipulative way no he'll just be like "you're gonna do this and this will be the result."

Okkkk so half canon compliant walphemia au

So walphemia we’re together in hogwarts but at the start of sixth year Bugs and Orion learn that they were going to get married after graduation but Wally wanted to keep it a secret (yk bc of Effie) so they did. after graduation they just both ghosted everyone and get married. (bc they thought it would less hurt that way) Monty, Lyall and Effie learned it in the daily prophet. And they were really chocked and felt betrayed mostly Effie.

So years pass Effie falls in love w/ Monty and Lyall w/ Hope (lyall and monty were tgthr n had an healthy brake up) so eventually James and Remus came in the picture so does Sirius and Regulus on the other side. the kids go to hogwarts they met and befriended (BUGS IS A GOOD MOM) so when Sirius went to Potters for the first time Effie was so chocked she almost cried so did Wally when she met James. They both eventually find a way to not see each other bc they knew they wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Years pass (again) and jegulus/wolfstar eventually happen. AND that’s at one of the wedding that Walburga and Euphemia met again for the first time after years (26 maybe) and yk they’re not in love anymore…but they still hold a big place in each other’s heart. So they just befriended again and became besties !!!! (total menace duo)

So in the end Harry and Ted got to grow up with they’re grandmas Gigi and Fifi

i’m obsessed with her? she’s one of the only golden trio era characters i want to write. i love that her whole canon personality is just “being mean” because it’s so fun to play with and add more to. but im also new to the pansy obsession sooo.

I watched the F*ck It list on Netflix the other day and asldifhl  then it evolved and fused with my mild Black Zabini obsession

• Regulus is a 2001 baby • Sirius is born ‘99 (and suffers from the “who let the toddlers out of kindergarden??” syndrome, like we all pre-2000s do) • at school they’re 2 years apart too • Sirius runs away to live with the Potters at 16 • Regulus is under a lot of pressure to be Perfect(TM), his parents pushing him to outperform at every turn •   he has perfect grades, is fluent 4 different languages, codes in 4 computer languages, signs up for the best prep courses there are, plays cello, piano and saxophone • has close to no time for friendships and absolutely zero time for romance  • he’s friends with Barty Crouch Jr. and Everette Bones from his year and keeps in touch with Isabella Zabini who was a few years older, already graduated and married • is accepted by 7/8 universities he applied for, and for Harvard he’s just below the cut • his parents are Bragging to all their snobby friends and he’s just tired and embarrassed • he sneaks out for the graduation party and is having a good time until Everette comes running to him that there is a Problem • they were going to give everyone straight As as a little good bye gift but Barty managed to break the gas pipe • they try to fix it before Regulus’ realises the danger is getting too high and gets them the fuck out... and the school explodes • Regulus is the only one caught on security cameras • he takes the entirety of blame, says he had no accomplices • he’s expelled • his college applications (except for Harvard) are rejected • his parents are furious and trying to salvage the situation • Regulus is Done • he sends his friends a 10 minutes rant on how SICK he is of the expectations, how his life had been planned for him from day one and he’d never done anything for himself or by himself, that his parents are paving the way for him but he doesn’t even know where he wants to go • “You have to study hard to be able to do what you want in life! Bleh” • He accidentally posted it publically and not privately for friends only • By the time he woke up, he was viral • he had like 50 texts  from everyone and a missed call from Sirius • he turned his phone off and went out to avoid his parents • he went and assisted Barty with vandalising Barty Sr.’s car as a revenge for being a shit dad • another day they went into a music store for Reg to try the electric cello and caused a spontaneous Queen concert • he started getting offers to wear merch n stuff • because of the Fuck It list movement the high school refuses to let him graduate. His parents are furious but he’s almost relieved that he cannot possibly be forced back on the track of his previous perfect life • he gets a tattoo because he can • his parents pull some serious strings and Harvard is willing to take him if he writes a nice grovelling essay • he agonises over it for a few days, then writes a very polite “Sincerely, fuck you” and hops on Isabella Zabini’s (first) husband’s ship she inherited and they fuck off for a road trip... to Italy • BONUS SUBPLOT of Walburga and Orion getting Regulus a pardon through Tom Riddle • Regulus finds the emails of Riddle accepting his parent’s bribe on Orion’s laptop • does some digging and hacking • chats up Bella who had classes with him • and finds out Riddle is the leader of a local KKK branch, a cult-like organisation called the “Death Eaters” • and also slept with Bellatrix (he needs brain bleach. so much brain bleach) • fucks off to Italy and from safety of Toscano sends all his research to Sirius who is currently studying at Police Academy with James • and then publishes it on his Insta when he gets a rage-ful message from Sirius that his supervisors refused to investigate when he showed them

• he could live with Isabelle but he wants to try living on his own  • ends up rooming with 3 other guys, all uni students • he’s got 18 years of savings because he never needed to buy anything • his YouTube channel makes more enough for him to pay rent too • he’s learning practical life skills like doing laundry (”Dark pile, white pile,” *lifts a black and white striped Tshirt* “...the nope pile.”), ironing his clothes (”It’s so warm? I like that.”) and cooking • he has an entire cooking series, gets actually really good at cooking and baking • he’s catching up on all the teenage experience he’d missed out on too • gets a few modelling gigs and realises he quite likes it • becomes the most fashionable mf under the sun • clothes, shoes, jewellery, make -up, he’ll model for it all so long as the brand isn’t fishy • through Isabelle he gets a minor role in a fantasy tv show for children • his character (the evil queen’s right-hand man) gets so popular he joins the main cast • his character has a horse and Regulus FALLS IN LOVE with horse riding and Antonia the horse both, so much that he learns how to groom her and eventually buys her • takes the tests he needs to graduate Italian high school and applies to an IT uni • When Isabelle’s husband dies while she’s pregnant, Regulus steps up • moves in with her and holds her hair while she throws up and researches pregnancy so thoroughfully he gets himself a birth-assistant degree • he’s baby Blaise’s godfather • even when Isabella remarries Regulus stays • the press starts calling them “The Black-Zabinis” • Regulus is aroace and enjoys the lack of sexual advances this gets him • they travel around for Issy’s job and marriages, France, the US, Iceland, he adored New Zeland wants to live there permanently one day • comes to his parents’ funeral • Sirius didn’t and that’s okay • Blaise is enrolled to Hogwarts  • same class as Harry Potter • Regulus and Sirius meet first time in years in Dumbledore’s office because Ron got in fight with Draco and Harry with Blaise tried to tear them apart • Reg who’s jat-lagged cracks a joke about family reuniations and how they have to do this more often • and they do

- in 6th year youve been friends for 3 years

- its one Halloween after the feast and ur headingback to ur dorm, but a bunch of 7th years cut u off

- they start insulting the marauders, lily, molly,Alice, frank, xenophilius and ur hufflepuff friends. u try to defendthem. 

- they surprise u with a petrification spell andproceed by beating u black and blue. Regulus is there too, and forced to joinin. 

- they leave u freezing on the floor, but reg comesback to check on u every now and then

- eventually Sirius actually gets worried when he seesu not moving for about 20 minutes

- the marauders to the rescue!!! 

- they take u to the hospital wing and Sirius iscarrying u bridal style!! 

- u murmur a i love u into his neck, prayingthe others didnt hear (remus did. he hears everything. damn werewolf.) 

- a day later hes escorting u to every class and evento ur dorm

- u force him to talk to regulus and tell him that hechecked on u

- finally, he does

- afterward, he comes to u and just breaks down

- “thank you thank you thank you”

- ur heart breaks as he pulls u into a hug andjust….sags against yu.

- in the next days ur very quiet around everyone andwhen people ask why u just say:

- “people.”

- this practically kills Sirius.

- he finally coners you in the hall and is like

- so this happens:

okay so the most popular ship is wolfstar, between remus and sirius (wolf bc remus is a werewolf and star bc sirius’ name is from a star or constellation or sm, i think the dog star, i cant remember)

pretty much everyone in the marauders fandom ships wolfstar, there’s very little shipping discourse there

james is shipped usually with either lily (bc of canon) (their ship name is jily) or regulus (ship names are jegulus, starchaser, and sunseeker)

some people also ship jegulily (polyam ship between all 3 of them)

personally i’m a multishipper and ship all of those, although i usually ship lily with pandora (i’ll get to that) so i tend to ship jegulus

dorlene - marlene and dorcas (i love this ship)

Super random ask here, but, if you were to do a live action take on Harry Potter (like the movies but with less missing-the-entire-point-of-basically-everything), how would you want people to do it? Like, tv show or movie, what would be different, what would be in it and what wouldn't be, ect.

Ohhhhhh man, I hope you wanted a super long answer cause that’s what you’re getting.

First off, definitely tv show. I think it’s been proven that a movie format doesn’t work. So that being said and keeping in mind that I have limitless budget:

Each book gets one season, though later books (i.e. OotP) could get split into two seasons

It should be treated, particularly in the early seasons, more like a mystery series rather than an action/adventure. The first four books all read far more like whodunnits with a magic spin than high fantasy. You have the mystery of the year, the cast of suspects, and the protagonist attempting to figure out the truth all with his own luck, skill, and whatever friends and allies he’s got picking up clues along the way

Things like height and such in regards to actors (the child actors in particular) isn’t an issue, but things that can be controlled i.e. Harry and Hermione’s hair, Harry’s eye color, Voldemort’s eye color, Snape’s general grossness, will be followed to the letter.

Lucius is not shown abusing Draco to garner the latter sympathy, as the whole point of the Malfoy family is that no matter how shitty they are to everyone else, they love each other

Everyone in the Marauder Generation is cast age-appropriately, this means early twenties James and Lily, and mid-thirties Sirius, Remus, Wormtail, Snape, etc

Marauder backstory isn’t inexplicably left out of the Shrieking Shack scene

And Remus is depicted as being James’ friend, not having this weird obsession with Lily. That’s Snape’s job

Snape’s memories are shown IN FULL i.e. calling Lily a you-know-what, his and Petunia’s interactions, his jealousy and attempts at policing Lily’s actions with lines like “I won’t let you”, trying to laugh off being friends with future Death Eaters who perform Dark Magic on their classmates, begging for Lily’s life but not James and Harry’s, “you disgust me”, ripping a Potter Family photo in half like the dick he is, NOT including that stupid non-canon scene of him showing up at Godric’s Hollow (which would have really implicated him as someone Working With Voldemort lbr)

All the Marader stuff should really be filmed at one time so the actors don’t randomly age or the set looks different or what have you. Film everything needed at one time and then include each part where and when you need it in the show’s run.

Characters don’t appear in one season and then disappear despite being in multiple books i.e. Dobby, Rita Skeeter, Fleur, Percy

No telegraphing the plot twists i.e. the Barty Jr. reveal (I’m sorry but whatever that director told David Tennant...was not good. Also he needed to not be shown as alive before the reveal because it messes everything up and askjfdhsakdfaljfhasdjf)

Consistency in how magic is performed i.e. spell names being used, not every spell being a bang and a flash of the same color light, Avada Kedavra killing people the exact same way every time (can’t believe I have to say that)

Characters and sets don’t get random makeovers halfway through i.e. Flitwick, Dementors, the Fat Lady getting a new dress (she’s a painting??) the placement of Hagrid’s Hut in relation to the school, that bridge popping up out of nowhere in movie three

Relationships are depicted WITHOUT BIAS and WITHOUT DIRECTORS’ OR WRITERS’ SHIPPING PREFERENCE (you’re here to adapt, write your own thing if you have such a problem with the source material that you can’t do your damn job)

Characters aren’t given wildly OOC lines i.e. Ron stand up for Hermione against Snape instead of agreeing with him, Harry isn’t all “but I am the chosen one”

Snape’s treatment of the students isn’t watered down or made family-friendly

Hermione and Snape aren’t constantly whacking Harry and Ron with books and shit, and it isn’t played for laughs. Why was it played for laughs??

Ginny snapping Harry out of his funk in OotP with some cold hard truth and logic is in there

As is the chocolate Easter Eggs/library scene

Wizard robes look like wizard robes. They like a healthy breeze round their privates, thanks.

Kingsley, the Patil twins, and Cho aren’t suspiciously singled out for depicting in stereotypical “other-ing” robes

I realize including every little detail is unrealistic, but just some of the in-between times of Life At Hogwarts would be nice

Sirius does not “Nice one, James!” at Harry before he dies because he actually can tell the difference between his best friend and his godson

Sirius talking to Harry, Ron, and Hermine in the mountain cave above Hogsmeade plus his sheer joy at getting to eat chicken instead of rats

Moments like Luna coldly reacting to Hermione snubbing the Quibbler are left in to show she’s not just 100% quirk

S.P.E.W. is most definitely a thing

Dean and Seamus are together by the end

Neville’s parents are shown instead of just being told to us

Teddy Lupin, and Harry being named his godfather, are actually shown

Fawkes’ lament and Dumbledore’s funeral happen

The Other Minister scene happens

Quidditch and the importance it holds to character journeys like Harry, Ron, and Ginny, gets left in

The Whomping Willow Prank is depicted in its entirety, with possible consultation with JKR on how it started, but most definitely including the bit about James saving Snape’s life

A lot of things that are told to us in the books can instead be shown via flashback to make it more visually interesting

Current events that are told to us in the books, particularly the DA in seventh year, would also be shown instead

Dudley’s redeeming moment isn’t deleted

The Dursley’s are actually at the beginning of each year like they should be

the Hospital Wing scene at the end of GoF is depicted, including Sirius as Padfoot sleeping on Harry’s bed to comfort him, Fudge and Dumbledore’s fight (thus properly setting up the next season), the restart of the Order, Mrs. Weasley hugging Harry “as if by a mother” and Harry desperately trying not to cry 

Umbridge ousting Hagrid and McGonagall taking four Stunners to the chest while defending him

Harry’s breakdown in Dumbledore’s office after Sirius’ death is done right

Harry hearing both his parents’ voices when the Dementors are near (and also feeling torn between wanting to learn how to repel the Dementors and wanting to keep hearing his parents)

The Potters’ deaths at Godric’s Hollow is shown in entirety (and Lily isn’t inexplicably wearing two completely different shirts because they spliced flashbacks together with no regard for consistency)
