Ninjago Dragons Rising theory!

Sourse dragon talked about this "cycle".

"Maybe we meet again at the end of this cycle"

Cycle can mean some kind of loop. That all of that already happen. Time loops aren't really new trop but i think it can be interesting and as I saw today someone talking about that Lloyd maybe will die at the end od Dragon Rising I just come up with another thing.

The end will be "end of this cycle". It will be the event that is reason of this cycle, being their end, marking it reset and starting new one.

It can be also that somehow the cycle will be broken, but I actually think not breaking it can be interesting but it's up to discussion.

Co now, what is "center" of loop?

I think the center is Lloyd. We saw his vision after first encounter with Source Dragon. The graveyard with ninja masks and sand. Sand is really made me think of destruction, the battles and this post-apo climaxes. I don't think we should take this scene as realism more like symbolism. All ninja will fall and world will become wilderness.

He showed him the moment where cycle is restored. Lloyd alone is quite powerful being Green Ninja and being able to connect with Golden Power (real power never really fade right?) And now we see he is able to use power led by source dragon. What we can assume isn't normal as he sayed it couldn't "change him forever".

So, this end is Lloyd seeing his family falling, (they don't need to die but he think that), and with his own power, creation and destruction, and energy of source Dragon recreate world to be again with his family. To spend time with them again, to not lose them. He kinda become the most powerful being.

It may be a little too much but it could also be why the other realm Merge with Ninjago specifically. Because there is the center of the loop, Lloyd. It all come back to him, and maybe some plan of FSM? Maybe he setup for something to happen but it back fire and left all realms in infinite time loop of creation and destruction?

Actually it would also fall with whole deal about creation and destruction because it would mean the world is destroyed to be create yet again.

I know It may be and most probably isn't the case. But I just wanted to share that. What do you think? I would love something like this to happen! (If not there are always fanfics....)

Im dubbing this the tigermom au, where Misako had a legit reason to leave Lloyd, and it was to put fear of god in the hearts of destinies writers the moment they hear the Garmadon name. (In the meanwhile getting stuck in a time loop/trap)

Honestly I just feel like she COULD be a really cool character, if her abandoning Lloyd with no fair explanation didn't weigh her down. She pretty effortlessly rizzed both sons of god, and is one of the few non EMs shown doing spinjitzu. Also was quite good at it, if we can believe Wu. Tho I think she could do a bit more sass. (She was sassy like twice, and I live for it. Also sassy Lloyd, but that doesn't belong here)

Here are a few scattered ideas:

° When she hears the prophecy, she realises the only way to save her family is to rewrite destiny. Good thing she knows where to do that

° Using her archeology/history background she begins looking for ways to move amongst realms

° She leaves Lloyd at Darkleys (only for a few weeks, she swears) temporarily. Why Darkleys? Well, he probably would be safer with his father idolized rather than despised (see the movie for example)

° I'm not sure of the deets, maybe Travelers tea or some other method, but she leaves for Cloud Kingdom (or perhaps Time blades shenanigans, but honestly, I want her to punch Fenwicks jaw trough his skull.)

° Not looking for a nice chitchat with the people who broke her family, she wreaks havoc amongst the denizens of CK, looking for two specific scrolls

° Eventually they kick her out with joined efforts, and she returns dejected. The worst she expected was Lloyd starting a Garmadon cult amongst the students, not her son all grown up, hanging out with a bunch of teens in pajamas.

° I want to make her showing up more impactful. I want Wu and the ninja to be surprised, I want her to be devastated when she puts two amd two together (she doesn't know about tomorrows tea, so it seems even worse). I want her to mourn the time lost, but still be determined to make it up somehow.

° Note, that while it's not nearly as bad, she still had the attitude, of fighting her way out of her problems over trying to raise Lloyd into not killing his dad. This could be a character flaw to explore, and it could make Lloyd more drawn to her, since her attitude is quite a bit similar to Kai's

Sidenote, I know that sounds like Maya over again, but it does't need it to be similar really. I like to actually make Ray and Mayas kidnapping make sense, with Krux knocking them out with the tea, kidnapping them, and THEN forcing them to stay with the "I know where your babies live" threat.

So while Maya was kidnapped, Misako would have left willingly, albeit, for longer than she meant to.

But let's get to the mom part shall we?

° Honestly, outside of making Misako more interesting, this is a bit self indulgent, because I think Lloyd should have a healthy outlet, since trauma dumping Akita is not really an option now

° Lloyd would be conflicted, not being able to hate her, but still, she was never there

° "You don't have to forgive me"

"It's okay, you didn't mean to..."

"But it still hurts doesn't it? You can let it out"

° I know, it's harder to manage more characters, but I want her to BE there for her son, also let's scrap Wusako, I wanna make her love Garmadon, to the very end, even if it's tragic.

° She won't leave when going gets tough, and she would offer her own fighting skills to help too

Just some fun extras:

° She showed up to the Monastery after some rumors about demigods living there, to examine the place. The spinjitzu brothers found her, she used some incredibly stupid pickup line with fingerguns, and procedeed to steal both their hearts

° She's got rizz that literally only works on these two.

° The spinjitzu brothers would stare down any EM who dares question her presence, and she fucking knows it.

° Will watch with a shit eating grin as Wu lectures, and Garmadon threatens the poor sap

° Since Maya is the overenthusiastic mom, I will make Misako the bad influence mom, who makes her son do dumb shit kids his age should do (and 100% joins in, cause, whose gonna tell her she can't?)

° Lloyd inherited his grandfathers hair, his father's eyes, and his mom's face.

° I just find it funny if Lloyd showed up to CK, and everyone was hostile/angry towards him. And Lloyd being Lloyd would assume it's about his dad, since it always is. Except not now.

° "YOU! I know who you are! You are that woman's son!"

° "...Yeah, he is my fa- wait, what?"

° "Hey, look, looks like your mom made quite a mess for ya"

° " Which only means even more people hate me so thanks MOM."

° Lloyd is the house cat, if he doses off on you, you are not allowed to get up/disturb him (I like to think it started when he was little, but since he is still the youngest mentally, it stuck). The ninja (and his family) strictly enforce this, even on random visitors who fall under the cat-curse. This is not even really Misako related just Cat Lloyd? Cat Lloyd.

° ... Also, I think he should have a ponytail. (Seriously, that hair would be realistically such a hassle while fighting. Pull that hair back, so you can SEE you dingbat)

Just... I mean, Lloyd and Garmadon are already cat coded according to the fanbase, why not give them a feral wildcat mom/wife? She will hiss at anyone who messes with them, don't worry.

It ‘‘twas I who came up with the Garmadon who ran the Eric Andre equivalent show in ninjago au. I say this fully unmasked now because I have no shame. (Also I may have binged some of Andre’s material earlier today) But uh anyways I got some more ideas for this

Garmadon has run out of fucks and he needs a hobby. Also he doesn’t want to just follow in the family business of being some sagely master.

So Garmadon decides to say fuck and it be a late night show host with heavy focus on absurd humor.

The public broadcast station has no standards and hey it’ll raise awareness and potential funding. They may also be intimidated by Garmadon’s reputation.

Listen Garmadon does have some funny one liner’s and dad jokes in the earlier seasons of ninjago.

Lloyd supports Garmadon’s insane show and helps write some of it too.

Misako was hesitant but eh if Garmadon wants to be a himbo and it helps him recover. Then why not and it’s funny.

Garmadon also yoinked Dareth as a cohost because he feels bad about burning the dojo and hey Dareth’s funny enough.

There’s this one prank Eric pulls on the subway where he didn’t get the job at Froot loops.

Garmadon is petty and Chen’s noodle house becomes a running gag on the show

Imagine you’re just an average citizen who just got off from your shitty retail job and you’re on the subway. Suddenly this immortal demigod just walks in a fucking black morph suit covered in like fucking instant noodles glued to it and a cone of shame.

Said demigod dramatically fucking announces that he didn’t get the job at a fast food chain. And decides to lay himself out as a human sacrifice to be consumed with warm noodles included.

There’s also a bit where Eric shows up to a McDonald’s as Ronald McDonald and pretends to fire people.

So just Garmadon showing up as Chen and doing the sketch.

Skylor loves the Chen’s noodle house jokes just because it pisses off her dad and it’s good press.

Skylor inevitably gets interviewed by Garmadon too.

Because Garmadon dying in this au would be sad.

Sorry this took awhile, I needed time to look up the clips you linked.

Skylor gets handed a (cooked) noodle crown during the interview. (since she is....the noodle princess) which she doesn't even hesitate to put on.

Garmadon keeps saying that he's sponsored by Chen's Noodle House. He's gotten sued over it twice, but he just keeps paying the suit and doing it more.

Cliff Gordon is interviewed. Garmadon spends the entire time talking over him. It starts as plausible interruptions or not realizing that he was talking, but gets more and more aggressive as it goes on. Cliff didn't actually managed to get out one single complete sentence.

Lloyd gets interviewed, and they just trash the set for the whole time. Making some small talk, but otherwise not talking.

Each of the ninja have done an interview actually. (Theirs were scripted, unlike the other guest stars.)

Zane's was just silence for the rest for the episode after he was introduced. Him and Garmadon nod a few times, and Zane shakes his head once. Neither move from their seats.

Cole and Garmadon take turns eating the crazier and crazier things while conducting an otherwise normal interview. Starting with Cole bringing a sandwich and Garmadon eating his mug. Ending with Garmadon eating Dareth.

Kai's is 95% a normal interview, but it ramps up very quickly at the end to them talking themselves into "joint suicide" with a stupid amount of fake blood.

Nya lights the set on fire after being ask to demonstrate her elemental water powers.

There are increasingly large and intrusive animals being released through out Jay's. Starting with a bee, ending with a dragon.

Pixal didn't show. She didn't warn Garmadon that she wasn't going to show. It was a real live reaction to him realizing she stood him up. (And him admitting she really understood the chaotic nature of the show.)

The ninja had to be called in to deal with the "live bear".

So I'm on a sudden kick with a Ninjago Percy Jackson au, so here are some ninja godly parents

Zane - Zane is a son of Khione, he has been at camp the longest due to a curse. He showed up randomly with no memory. He only gains it back in flashes, most of it is either future or the past. He mostly remembers a small boy, a lighthouse, birch trees, an ice ruler, and pure evil. The camp nicknamed the evil as the Overlord. All his dreams mean something but when it suddenly starts making sense he wakes up. He usually wears white cotton sweaters and he works full time at the infirmary.

Cole - Cole is a Demeter kid. Cole always knew he was a demigod, his father made sure he knew. He is the head counselor of the cabin and is loved by everyone at camp. He spends most of his time in the forges or helping the other kids. He and Zane are close friends.

Nya and Kai - both are Hephaestus kids but are also Poseidon legacies. Their mother's family was given the gift to control water and passed it to Nya. Kai got his father's powers. The two arrived at camp 6 months ago. Nya hates the forges and mostly stays by the lake and has gotten quite close to the Naiads. She is also dating Jay.

Jay - Jay is still in the works at the moment but he's either going to be the son of Zeus or Tempestas. He's also been at camp for a while.

Lloyd - Lloyd is unclaimed. He has been at camp since he was 5 after his mother, Koko went crazy. He always wanted to know about his father or aunt Misako. No one at camp knows his parent but they know whoever it is is a very powerful god.

Pixal, Cryptor, Mindroid - all of the children and the whole camp at first thought they were Hephaestus kids until they were claimed at the camp sing along. They are children of Hades. Pixal represents wealth and and metals while her brothers are the death part. Cryptor was so upset when he found out. The whole camp just alienated them. So Cryptor listened to the Overlord and started a war between the camp. Pixal is torn, she and her brothers had only gotten to camp 2 weeks ago, which side should she chose? She stayed at camp but snuck information to Cryptor, but she stopped when she started getting feelings for that Zane boy.

Wu - Wu is Chiron. I will die with this idea.

Cryptor and Mindroid won't be called that. I changed their names to Tory and Mindy (don't worry y'all he will be called min)

The three are also stuck in time, they ask about a childhood friend named Cyrus, the whole camp says he is the richest man in all of Ninajgo, the siblings are dumbfounded.

But to change the topic from all the Lloyd ship thingy that’s going on…

F U T U R E S H I P P I N G

Oh yes! I might be rewriting some headcanons but I love them so much and I just gotta write out how it’d be in my AU when I come around to it.

Once more, we begin with Acronix crushing on the inventor when he was kidnapped. It didn’t confuse him too much since he’s been with some guys before but none of them were really in for the romance. The only thing that conflicted his feelings was needing to go through with the plan with his brother and maybe he just buried it far beneath.

Of course he’s helping plan out Cyrus’s escape and they end up bonding over it. Cyrus is on his old spider mech chair and Acronix practically jams the auto pilot button while distracting the inventor with a short kiss. It’s a sad goodbye, but the plan still goes on which means Nix is lost in time for a while.

They reunite by pure accident and begin bonding again. Krux is happy that his brother found some joy outside of tech but he didn’t expect Cyrus to be Nix’s boyfriend. He confronts him about it but Acronix just shoots back with “At least I caught feelings talking with someone. You caught yours in the middle of getting fucked by an actual demigod. So, don’t you come at me about who I want and like when you don’t even know what you want anymore. Now excuse me, I’m going to meet up with him and hopefully he’ll help us find the Ninja to take little Wu back.”

Anyways now that’s out the way, I just want to think about the development they have together. It’s slow, sweet and fluffy. Cyrus is a literal boss of his own company and Acronix is the first to test any new tech products. He gives reliable advice to Cyrus on what to advance and what’s unnecessary. He’s just plain honest with him and Cyrus appreciates it.

Sin down below because I have no filter and I can’t be stopped:

And don’t get me started on the saucy sin with these two. Ah!

The first time was honestly nerve wrecking, at least for Acronix. He’s so used to one night stands just getting their fill and leaving, but Cyrus?.. He’s so sweet and he’s gentle. It’s just soft kisses all over and his hands roaming. Basically Nix actually gets worshipped and he’s so overwhelmed by it.

Later on, Cyrus sees that Nix is more energetic about the bedroom and basically he takes notes. Name what he’s noted and he’s got it. Positions? Kinks? How long he can last? The fact that maybe his restlessness was connected to his elemental powers? Favorite toys? Past flings? He’s got it all, even makes sure to avoid what he doesn’t like or makes them both uncomfortable.

When Cyrus can’t keep up some nights or needs to focus on work? Don’t get him wrong he loves Acronix but unfortunately he can’t meet some standards and he’s okay with it. He’s allowed Acronix to be more open with partners as long as they both were comfortable with it, which sometimes leads to Cyrus eventually joining in.

One partner was in fact Garmadon. Garm is a perfect example of a fling. He has experience, has the energy, and no strings attached. Yes his wife knows of his habits and they had a talk about it. How do you think he got to the city? She drove him there and they met up with Acronix and Cyrus. That’s probably when Cyrus brought up the idea of open partners. Acronix is embarrassed by Cyrus bringing it up but admits he likes the idea.

“We’re not looking for any adultery. It’s just I can’t keep up with him and I don’t have much to offer him in bed at the moment so.. I was thinking maybe on some occasion you can.. visit and help me tire him out?” “Let me talk to my wife about it.” “I don’t wish to put strain on your marriage.” “Oh don’t worry about it. He’s been alive longer than I have so it’s almost unfair to tie him down.” “Yeah but I need someone to help make decisions with me.” “I know you do.. Anyways I don’t mind. Besides it’s not like I’m looking for another kid anytime soon. I’m happy with Lloyd for now.” “So.. when’s the first visit?”

Did he take notes on Garm during the visit? Yes. Yes he did. Mind you, sometimes, Garm was in full monster form. Long forked tongue? Yes. Grabby claws? Yes! Horns perfect for grabbing? Yes. And if he has his Anacondrai tail? Then you bet Cyrus saw how excited Acronix was when he saw the double flesh staves. Cyrus mostly found his different forms fascinating. If Garm was still in Anacondrai form, I realize that there’s one for each of them and Acronix ends up dragging Cyrus in anyways.

And yes, Cyrus does put the notes to use and perhaps on the side, he makes some personal projects. They’re surprises for Acronix later and boy he’s happy when he sees Nix absolutely loving the toys.

And yes there is a safe word for when it gets too uncomfortable or overwhelming. It’s been used a few times but for good reasons.

Anyways, with the two of them, it’s an amazing time until Acronix sub-drops. Basically, his body by then throws away the high and the adrenaline which causes him to suddenly feel vulnerable to many negative emotions. Cyrus is scared, but he basically sticks with him and feels terrible for what Acronix is going through. (Honestly subdropping needs to be brought to light more often.) He provides some aftercare and gentle words.

The aftercare itself? Oh it’s absolutely mandatory. The process of it is needed, cause the aftermath actually can lead to injuries; mental and physical. Its a red flag if anyone says otherwise. Thankfully neither possess that red flag so that’s good. It’s so sweet and gentle. Cyrus makes sure Acronix is okay and they’re just laying there and cuddling for the rest of the night. And yes, when it comes down to it, it can go the other way around for Cyrus.

I really don’t understand why the aftercare isn’t talked about in relationships because it should be about love and not gratification. And the pairing just offer that kind of love to one another.

Oh and before I forget, yes. Acronix is little spoon and if you want sin added in, then he likes it when he can just slip Cy in and proceeds to grind on him... It’s a slow and gentle and they both enjoy the change of pace.

Lloyd loved going out to the park.

It had a beautiful little lake, with pretty fish swimming around, flowers bloomed everywhere and the birds would sing beautifully!

It was simply… peaceful.

The only problem is that it left him alone with his thoughts. And the only things that he’s been thinking about for the last couple years were depressing. His friends, no, his brothers, they were gone.

No, they weren’t gone! They couldn’t have been. He won’t loose hope! He’s going to find them. He promised himself that he would find Cole and that he would find Kai and everything is going to be okay. Everything will be back to normal and they will be happy. They will be a happy family again. He won’t break that promise.

Who was he kidding?

At this point Lloyd was sure that he was just repeating a lie, over and over again, just to comfort himself.

No.

Ninja never quit, he won’t give up on them, because they wouldn't give up on him. He won't give up, even if he wishes that he could. He wishes he would just accept it and move on with his life already, but he can't. Ninja don't leave friends behind.

This isn’t why he came here. He snuck out because he wanted to get away from all these thoughts… clearly it wasn’t working.

He decided that going on a walk might help. It doesn’t hurt to try. Nothing really hurt anymore, he just feels numb.

He was right, walking did beat sitting on a bench feeling sorry for himself.

He'd only been walking for a few minutes before he heard a voice behind him.

“Excuse me!”

Lloyd turned around to see a tall young man approaching him.

“I’m sorry to bother you but, are you the green ninja?”

Oh great, another fan. Lloyd didn’t really like being in the spotlight or interacting with strangers in general. Nonetheless, the man seems excited to meet him. He’s used to fans, they ask a couple questions, ask for a selfie and an autograph and are gone as fast as they showed up. Besides, he didn’t want to be rude.

“The one and only! How may I help you?”

“I’m just such a big fan! I’ve been admiring you for quite some time now!”

Lloyd decided to keep walking with the man following next to him. He has been sitting around enough. Besides, the man didn't seem to mind walking with him.

Something about this guy did seem fishy, but he was probably just paranoid. He has been quite paranoid since-

“Oh I’m so glad to finally meet you! You ninja are so amazing! I must have a lot of luck! First Black, then Red and soon Green!”

Oh, he met Cole and Kai before. Well, there goes any chance Lloyd will have a break from thinking about them. He should try to ignore the comment. It was rude of the man to say it, since everyone already knows they disappeared, but he shouldn't ruin the man's day with a rude attitude.

But the way the man worded it is quite strange. “soon green"? What's that supposed to mean? Perhaps he’s collecting autographs or photos with the team? Yeah, that’s probably it, some fans do that. But this man is just giving Lloyd such a weird feeling. Something is off. He should ask him to clear it up

“Oh, you’ve met them before?”

“Yeah, a couple years ago!”

“Did you get pictures, autographs?”

“Well, I have gotten many pictures over time!”

Over time? What does he mean by that? Is Lloyd overthinking this? Perhaps if he causally asked about it without it sounding too obvious?

“That’s nice! Making a collection?”

“Well, yes. I already have Black and Red, and I will soon have Green!”

“Um? You're collecting photos of ud? Would you like a picture with me? I can sign it for yo-"

“Oh, I don’t think you understand, I'm not here for photos. I mean can't have any photos of you looking like that. I have to make you look pretty for me first!"

Before Lloyd got the chance to ask him what that was supposed to mean, he felt a powerful grip around his neck. He tried to scream, but a rag was placed over his mouth and nose. It smelled funny, Lloyd knew too well that this would knock him out in a couple minutes. No matter how much he struggled, he couldn’t get the man off of him.

“Shhh, shhh, it’s okay Green, it’s okay!” his voice trying to soothe him sounded disgusting “don’t be scared, I will take such good care of you!”

Take care of him? What does that even mean? And was he culling him while trying to knock him out?

“You'll be such a wonderful pet!”

Pet?

“Oh you don’t have to struggle! You’ll just get tired pet! Don’t worry, I’ll train you to be calmer and obeying. Just like I trained Black and Red!”

He- he did what?

He took them. He’s the one.

Lloyd didn’t even acknowledge his kidnapper's words anymore. He zoned out.

He took them.

All he felt was rage. He didn’t hear the attempt to calm him, he didn’t hear the confusion, nor the sudden scream of pain.

No, but he did feel the cold darkness surrounding him. A shadowy fog coming out of his body. He felt pain in his entire body, he felt it changing, but he didn’t care. This man took away his brothers.

Koshiro didn’t worry when Green turned pale, he was about to pass out so it was normal!

But he did start to worry when his skin darkened, and he could swear Green’s eyes were red. He couldn’t get a good look because he suddenly felt a sharp pain in the arm he was holding Green with.

The pain made him let go. It made his vision blur and he collapsed. It was agonizing. Green would definitely get a stern punishment for this!

He was just about to get back up and yell at Green for daring to hurt his new master, but when he looked up-

The- the thing starting down at him wasn’t human. No. It was huge, with glowing red eyes, black scales, grey horns, huge jaws, standing on two big feet (claws? Talons? He wasn’t sure what to call them) with four arms- no two more claws and two wings.

It was- it was some kind of monster. Like a demonic dragon.

Lloyd wasn’t even sure what was going on. The man was now tiny, everything was, and he was frozen in terror. Good.

“Where are they!? Where are my brothers!? What did you do to them!?”

Silence. Everything was dark and silent.

“Where and Cole and Kai? Where. Are. They? Answer me!?”

The creature's voice was familiar. Green? It sounded like him, but- more demonic. How did this happen?

“I- I won’t say! You- you will try to, to take them from- from me! They’re mine! My pets! They- they- you won’t take them!”

The man was clearly not going to give an honest answer.

Well, it looks like Lloyd is just going to have to persuade him.

He raised his head and spread his wings. The darkness that surrounded him started to spread out around the two of them. Everything it touched- the grass, trees, flowers- withered away and perished. It slowly spread, careful not to touch the man. No- Lloyd won’t give him such an easy way out.

Soon the cloud surrounded them and it was pitch black, except for the red eyes and a tiny purple light shining from Lloyd’s chest. The light that slowly spread across his body. Across his chest, down his belly and back, all the way down his tail, up his wings, and slowly building it’s way up his neck towards his mouth.

It was a surge of destruction, fuelled by rage, a ticking bomb waiting to explode. He could feel the power building up, getting stronger.

All he had to do was open his mouth and he would be gone. It was so simple, yet he couldn’t get himself to do it. Not yet.

Koshiro was frozen in horror as the creature started to glow, inching closer to him. He knew this beast wouldn’t hesitate to end him.

If it did-

No!

His pets would be left alone! Without their master! No, he couldn’t let that happen! He had to tell this beast where they were. Yes, he would end up in jail, but he could break out and rescue his pets the first chance he gets!

“They’re in my basement!”

The beast paused, now standing still, the light no longer growing.

The light faded out completely, the only visible thing were the monsters glowing red eyes. It let out a horrifying chuckle.

“Thank you. But you didn’t really think you would get out of this so easily, did you?”

Before Koshiro realized what the creature meant by that, shadowy tentacles grabbed him and a purple light flashed and quickly found it’s way from the chest, up the neck and out of the beasts jaw.

He wasn’t sure what was worse, the cold from the tentacles or the heat of the destructive flame. The only thing he really cared about was what would happen to his precious pets now that he was gone.

Out of curiosity, what would the characters of Stargate be like if it was a Crossover with PJO and/or Shadowhunters? Like, are they demigods or mortals? Are they Shadowhunters or downworlders? What would they be like? (This is for any of the shows, doesn't have to be a specific one)

Mmmh, I mean, Shadowhunters is pretty quickly done - the whole Stargate thing is inherently military. So they are Shadowhunters. All the humans are Shadowhunters. Teal’c and the jaffa? Warlocks; the forehead symbol being their warlock-mark. Ronon? Werewolf, totally. Goa’uld are demons. Wraith are vampires. There, that was actually easy! ;D

Now, Percy Jackson and the Olympians!

For one, SG-1 would be the equivalent to the Greeks, while Atlantis would be the Roman camp. Obviously, they’d not take place in the US then! I love that Atlantis started out in Antarctica, so how about that? But, you know, for both!

See, now, let’s move the whole thing to Antarctica. Snow storms serve to keep humans away from camp, behind a layer of Mist however is the hidden camp. Camp Stargate. The Greek camp.

The Roman camp however is hidden away even from the Greeks, as it tends to be. It’s on the literal sunken city of Atlantis, beneath the surface. Hidden in a big air-bubble so the Romans can live there.

John Sheppard and Jack O’Neill as the big protagonists and their special canon DNA translates to special godly DNA too.

For John, that’s the ancient gene that leads to them even going on their trip to Atlantis - so linking him to Atlantis directly, meaning he’s a son of Neptune here.

While for Jack, I picked Zeus because of how Thor favors him. The lightning-connection. I didn’t want to go with Thor as his dad, because I like the buddy-relationship far more. So Thor just went “Aha, this lightning demigod from another pantheon is strong. I will aid them”.

And Elizabeth and Rodney are Greeks who come to live with the Romans, basically kind of like in Heroes of Olympus - they accompanied John Sheppard to the Roman camp after some problems. Since there are no Roman children of Minerva, so they’re kids of Athena.

Now, the jaffa are cyclopes - with the symbol on their foreheads being their real eye covered by the Mist. And Teal’c is, much like Tyson in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a cyclops child of Poseidon, which is why he is at camp, unlike his bretheren. Just imagine, monsters having enslaved cyclopes and them rising up with the help of demigods, who are at first as weary of them as the humans were of the jaffa.

Since Teyla and Ronon are decidedly non-human, I like the idea of them being merpeople, who encounter the demigods living on Atlantis.

I love Martin Lloyd because he’s fun so I like the idea of him being a satyr at camp, maybe the one who brought Jack to camp.

I feel the others are pretty self-expanatory - the doctors as children of Apollo, the traveling thief a child of Hermes. Daniel is, very clearly, Athena to me, while Sam is totally a kid of Hephaestus to me because she tinkers so cutely.

Damn, I really, really love this pitch now. Shame on you for making me think about this, e.

1) there’s a scene coming up in part 9 of Burnin’ Up that is just like oh my god, I can see this being an awesome scene in a TV show and I cannot wait for everyone to see it and see their reactions!

2) I’d love to write more for Lloyd, Jimmy and Johnny, I do have a series idea for Johnny but I just haven’t had the time to start it ��

3)I’d love to do something darker like a mob!au or fake dating series because that’s my all time favourite trope

4) I’m grateful that all my fics get any notes, but maybe The Demigod From Asgard series because its been something I’ve been working on for literally years and I’d love to see more people loving it 🥰

A White Actor Grows Some Bollocks - Quill’s Scribbles

You may recall that movie studio Lionsgate got themselves into a bit of hot water last week when they announced the casting of Ed Skrein as Major Ben Daimio in their upcoming Hellboy reboot. The problem was Major Ben Daimio is a Japanese character in the source material, making Hellboy the latest of numerous sci-fi and/or comic book adaptations to whitewash a prominent Asian character. I and many others made our views heard, voicing our strongest and angriest objections to this blatant bit of racist erasure (for whitewashing is objectively racist and totally inexcusable) just as we did with the likes of Doctor Strange, Death Note and Ghost In The Shell. But unlike those projects I just listed, the most extraordinary thing happened. Somebody listened.

Oh not the studio obviously. No, it was Ed Skrein himself. Realising the hornet’s nest he had kicked, Skrein actually announced via his social media accounts that he was dropping out of the role.

This open letter has received a positive response from fans and readers. Hellboy producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin made a joint statement in support saying:

“Ed came to us and felt very strongly about this. We fully support his unselfish decision. It was not our intent to be insensitive to issues of authenticity and ethnicity, and we will look to recast the part with an actor more consistent with the character in the source material.”

Even Hellboy creator Mike Mignola chipped in to offer his praise for Skrein’s decision to step down.

Now it would be easy to take a very cynical approach to all of this. Perhaps claim that Skrein only stepped down because he realised the damage all of this backlash could do to his career, but for once I’m willing to put aside my cynicism. I do actually believe Ed Skrein’s sincerity here. He seems to be genuinely apologetic, initially not realising the implications of what he was doing and now seems determined to make amends.

However I’m not exactly willing to praise him for his decision. At least not to the same extent others are. I can understand why people are praising him so heavily. This is an almost unprecedented move. Having put up with loads of A list white actors giving the weakest and most pathetic excuses to justify their own racist bullshit, the idea of a white actor growing some bollocks and actually stepping down from a whitewashed role purely on moral grounds is a novelty. He quit a tentpole movie purely because it was the right thing to do, and I am grateful for that. But can we try and keep this in perspective? This decision wasn’t courageous or brave. It’s just an actor turning down a role. A role that should never have been offered to him in the first place. While I’m pleased that Ed Skrein did the decent thing in the end, the fact is this entire situation should never have happened in the first place. Asian characters should be played by Asian actors. That should not be a difficult concept for filmmakers to wrap their heads around, and I feel I should point out I still don’t trust Lionsgate in the fucking slightest. Oh they’re going to cast a Japanese actor as Ben Daimio now if they know what’s good for them, but if Ed Skrein didn’t take the moral high ground, they wouldn’t have learnt a damn thing. Let’s not forget the studio’s initial response to the controversy came from this now deleted tweet from Hellboy executive producer Christa Campbell:

We don’t see colours or race. The slogan for closet racists the world over. 

See this is what so many white people in positions of power and authority within the industry need to understand when it comes to POC presentation. Being colourblind sounds good in theory, but in practice it can be very dangerous. When you make an actor’s performance or marketability the only criteria, you end up making stupid mistakes like this. When you racebend a white character, it’s fine. We already have plenty of representation, plus 9 times out of 10 being white isn’t actually integral to the character. For characters of colour on the other hand, you’ve got to take these other factors into consideration. Usually the culture of said character is integral plus it’s important for non white characters to be portrayed on screen not just for equality, but also for variety.

Recently I finally got to watch the Disney movie Moana, and I’m currently slightly obsessed with it. Not just because it’s a fun, smartly written musical with a great female protagonist, lovable characters, funny jokes and a heartwarming message behind it. It’s also because it explores myths and cultures I’ve never got to experience before.

Moana takes a lot of influence and inspiration from Polynesian culture and mythology, most notably adapting the stories of the demigod Maui (played by Dwayne Johnson). I have no idea how accurate this is, but I still loved it because it was something different. After seeing so many fantasy stuff like Lord Of The Rings and Game Of Thrones, which are essentially variations on Norse mythology, as well as the trillions of Christian inspired fantasy stories, Moana feels incredibly fresh and unique. I found all the stuff about Maui and Te Fiti fascinating, and I would love to see more movies exploring these Polynesian myths and legends. There’s such an incredibly rich vein of creativity you could tap into here.

Something else I loved about Moana was they actually cast Polynesian actors as the characters. I’ve already mentioned Dwayne Johnson as Maui. There’s also Jemaine Clement as Tamatoa the crab, Nicole Scherzinger as Moana’s mum, Jango Fett himself Temuera Morrison as Moana’s dad, Rachel House as Moana’s granny, and newcomer Auli’i Cravalho as Moana herself. This is why diversity is so important in films. Not only does it give actors of colour more exposure and allow new talents like Cravalho to emerge and flourish, but it also exposes general movie going audiences to stories and cultures we wouldn’t normally get to see. And that’s why whitewashing is so offensive. It takes job opportunities away from actors of colour and also causes creativity to stagnate. When it’s an Asian character in an Asian inspired story, there’s lots of different directions you can go. When it’s a white character in an Asian inspired story, there’s only one story you can tell. The outsider. The stranger. The foreigner to their ways. That’s not interesting. We’ve seen that done loads of times. Plus if you truly want to immerse the audience in another culture, isn’t it better to have a character that actually represents that culture rather than some white dweeb who knows jackshit about it?

Basically what I’m saying is we need more movies like Moana and less movies like...

No I’m never dropping this. Fuck this movie and all who support it.

So while I’m pleased that Ed Skrein decided to do the right thing in the end, I’m still going to judge this Hellboy reboot with the suspicion and scorn it deserves. Sure they’re probably going to cast a Japanese actor as Ben Daimio, but only because they have to now to save themselves from further embarrassment. It’s not because they want to. If it was someone like Scarlett Johansson or Tilda Swinton, the studio would still be sticking to their guns and trying to justify their racist bullshit. 

I’m glad Skrein managed to fix things and reveal A list white actors like Swinton and Johansson for the selfish, racist, privileged pricks that they are through his own selfless actions, but until the industry properly recognises that whitewashing is NEVER a good idea, nothing has actually changed as far as I’m concerned.

Welcome to ATIB’s first Top 2018 post! I know what you are thinking. More top posts about 2018… We all have to do it and I am behind on life so I apologise for that. So I thought I would pace my posts into separate genres and share them occasionally in the coming months so get comfy because I have lots to talk about. If you have already discarded 2018 and have moved on to the epic year of books that is 2019 then that is fair enough but have a little peek at my lists anyway just in case there was a book you’ve missed. I am starting with Fantasy because it is such a huge part of my blogging content. Plus 2018 was an exceptional year for fantasy and I can’t dismiss the opportunity to talk about it! Enjoy the list.

I haven’t really decided on a ‘book of 2018’ yet but a close contender would have to be Kings Of The Wyld. I’m not going to stop talking about it any time soon, no matter how sick people are of hearing it. It could be my favourite fantasy read of all time. Solid writing, incredible characters and a brilliant world to explore. Bloody Rose only expands that world even more and takes us on completely new adventures. Eames has stormed into the genre with passion and I can only say ‘Bravo’! I feel so old school 😀

Another book I can’t stop talking about. Welcome To Night Vale is something everyone must try at least once as there is so much to love about it. A podcast set in a weird and wonderful town call Night Vale. The town’s newscaster Cecil divulges town situations and events through his radio show (his voice is so satisfying) and it is incredibly bizarre and hilarious. The characters that populate the town are all interesting, weird and abstract. The show is probably the most quotable piece of writing I have ever experienced. I loved It Devours because it brought the idea of WTNV to the page in a way that the first novel struggled to do. It is a unique story set in the world of Night Vale and I was very impressed. It can be read as standalone and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a wholly different reading experience.

Joanne M. Harris has consistently blown me away with her work with Norse Mythology and The Gospel Of Loki was definitely the reason I got into the series in the first place. The Testament of Loki was a fantastic continuation of this iteration of classic Norse Mythology storytelling, tackling the epic event of Ragnarok. Introducing a new key character definitely made for some interesting developments and interactions as well. If you enjoy mythology then this is the best you’ll ever get!

Tom Lloyd is an outstanding fantasy author who has created an appealing and immersive world and just the right characters to inhabit it. Vivid and gripping storylines with individuals I enjoyed spending time with. I just wanted it to keep going and going. I was so happy to see that the Princess Of Blood was even better than Stranger Of Tempest as it makes the series even more worth picking up. I just found out that Book #3 Knight Of The Stars is out 27.06.19 which is too far away. Quicker please!

I know Blackwing was 2017 and Crowfall (look at that cover!!!) isn’t out till the middle of 2019 but Ravencry was definitely a highlight of 2018! I couldn’t not share this series as it is an accomplished and badass set of stories and Ed McDonald is worthy of our admiration. Galharrow’s story is a mighty one and the imagery and concepts explored in these books are outstanding. I can’t wait to get lost in Misery all over again in June!

Josiah Bancroft’s Books Of Babel series is absolutely superb. I have never seen such a fully realised and deep setting filled with more interesting characters than you could ever want. I am currently reading The Hod King right now and even this far into the series I am still blown away by how far JB’s imagination goes and where he is taking this story of rescue and transformation. If you pick up any fantasy series this year, let it be this one.

I have added The City Of Lost Fortunes to the list because it surpassed my expectations by so much and I can’t thanks Bryan Camp for writing the book that I wanted American Gods to be. This book is far from what it seems and I was lost in its pages for its entirety. I picked this up on a whim and I was rewarded greatly with a kick ass story about demigods, gambles with life and death, chaos and the grief of a city. A must read for all mythology lovers.

Imagine a Ninjago AU where Garmadon and Krux get married 😳

Oh my god. Yes!

I don’t imagine them getting married when they’re younger. I see it working if Garmadon and his wife basically divorced (cause Lloyd’s gotta exist somehow) and Garmadon’s heartbroken because of that but glad they did since it wasn’t working out anymore and they were having a falling out. It just wasn’t healthy to try to stay together.

Krux would just come into the picture and keep him from doing anything drastic. In doing so, they develop together, Krux brings up old feelings saying that Garmadon deserved better and Misako never stood a chance with him. Maybe they reconcile with each other, one thing leads to another, and well..

Krux: No.. we can’t.. Not like this. / Garmadon: Why not? / Krux: I know you’ve been lonely but I’m not looking to be your side piece where you rant on about your ex wife, dump your old feelings, and amuse yourself up until you drop me and move on to the next person again. / Garmadon: ... What if I don’t want to move on anymore? / Krux: That would be a problem for us. / Garmadon: ... Would you prefer us taking it slow then? / Krux: I already waited four decades for my brother, I think we can wait until we’re certain this is permanent this time. / Garmadon: Don’t have me waiting too long.

Do they have a fight/sparring session? Yeah except one time, Garmadon’s pinned and instead of being cheeky or anything, he’s laughing because it’s the most fun he’s had in a while. “What? What’re you laughing about?” “Nothing.. It’s just.. I missed you.” Krux didn’t know what to do cause he didn’t expect that from him at all and it just.. yeah the old feelings are still lingering and they show a bit.

Anyways, Krux may have had gentle moments before with him in their younger years, but.. not with Garmadon being this romantic and sweet. It just makes him wonder why Misako dropped this sweet demigod of a man. Of course he gets bitter at her for breaking the man’s heart when he didn’t deserve that.

Garmadon gets to listen to Krux rant all about his interests. It’s been a long time since he seen Krux that passionate about something he absolutely loves and even though Garm lived through some moments in history, he just finds himself adoring his passion.

Krux won’t admit it out loud, of course, but he likes it when Garm holds him and cuddles up to him. He gets to be warm and listens to the half Dragon-Oni man’s rumbling purrs against him. Sometimes he ends up falling asleep against him and Garm either naps with him or puts him in bed. (They’re tired. Let them rest.)

Whenever he could, Krux does some research on Onis and.. well he learns interesting things about them like them actually having both parts to easily transform into a person make it extremely convincing but he’ll bring that up to Garmadon later on the relationship how Oni are affectionate and maybe surprises Garmadon with a few things, but it nonetheless makes Garm happy that he’s putting in effort.

Who slips out an “I love you” first? I wanna say Krux, because it’s most unlike him to say that and Garmadon hearing that from him for the first time ever just catches him so off guard that he’s stuttering “W-.. what did you just say?”

Krux is trying not to trip over words after saying that “Now listen here Montgomery! I was just- Monty stop looking at me like that I did not- Back up- NO! No cuddling right now! Noo-.”

Krux ends up getting stuck cuddling him anyway and he’s so flustered but so happy... He even gets to hear Garmadon say “I love you too..”

Lloyd’s happy that his dad’s feeling better, even if it is oddly with Krux, but nonetheless he’s happy. Krux is even a good father figure to him and it works for the whole GarmaFam.

Krux actually, surprisingly brought up the idea of marriage to them since he still has a ring box with a pair of rings and they both clearly were happy with each other.

Garmadon: Were they for me? / Krux: No. I was moving on when I met someone twenty years after the first half of the war, but tragedy struck them at the worst time and well I never got to give these to someone so... perhaps you and I could wear them.. / Garmadon: ... Are you trying to propose to me, Kruxie? / Krux: Montgomery, don’t tease me. It’s been a while and the speech I put together wasn’t even met for you- Stop your stupid cute grin! I’m serious!

Do they get married? Maybe. Maybe not. It depends if they both want to. (Okay they definitely do. They, mostly Krux, just wanted to make sure they just didn’t want to jump too fast without knowing how high.)

And the night after the wedding? Well.. they already have experience with each other so it’s nothing they aren’t unfamiliar with even if one of them is nervous. (“I’ll be honest it’s been a long while. I might actually be rusty.” “Oh please you’re able to be flexible and energetic in a fight. I doubt you wouldn’t be the same here.” “Hehehe.. Kruxie... My Kruxie..” “Getting possessive of me now?” “Why not? You don’t like it?” “... I never said I didn’t.”)

Garmadon: So is it Krux Garmadon or Montgomery Saunders? / Krux: The Saunders name was a pseudonym for my persona. I don’t think Montgomery Saunders fits... / Garmadon: So Krux Garmadon then? I like it. It rolls off the tongue better. / Krux: Oh please you’re thinking of other things to roll off that tongue of yours. / Garmadon: Hehehe. Can you blame me? / Krux: Yes.
