Maybe it’s just me, but. When I’m reading something and am just flat-out enjoying it, like filled to the brim with glee at the author’s wording or characterization or imagination or ingenuity or pacing, I stop reading. I am so full of excitement and love that I have to stop wherever I am and pace around or do something because Words Are So Damn Cool I need to expend some energy or I’ll explode.

So is the love triangle in seasons 1 and 2 going to be a love pentagon with nya, jay, cole, zane and jess in seasons 3 and 4?

Something like that, but it’s less ~all romance~ and more ~everyone is feeling a lot of strong emotions at the most inconvenient times~. Mostly everything save for the Jay + Nya thing gets patched up relatively quick, though.

If you don’t mind mild S2/S3 spoilers (but they’re definitely not “light” spoilers either):

“Very Bad Things” happen to Nya in S2 that lead to Jay becoming overprotective and clingy over her. At first it’s very understandable, but it goes on for too long and ofc Nya has to put her foot down.

Nya eventually breaks up with Jay over it when it gets to be too much, on top of the fact that she wonders if they got together too quickly (which they did, but that doesn’t mean there was anything wrong with trying, as Kai tells them both). Regardless, Jay is utterly gutted about it.

Jay goes to Kai for comfort (where they hash out their own complicated dynamic with one another) while Nya goes to Cole, as he’s been a comforting presence for her in the past and she needs someone grounded and more serious right now.

However, Cole’s not in the best headspace for this, as he’s distressed himself with Zane attempting something with Pixal at this point (and Zane has already indirectly confirmed his feelings about Cole, but they do talk about it properly eventually. Communication saves lives!) But anyway, Cole appreciates the nice attention Nya gives him during a time where he’s feeling so low about himself and thus indulges (though it’s obviously not of a romantic nature…but remember that Nya is the only one not aware of this)

Whiiiiich begins to push Jesse a little (ha) over the edge because he’s been trying to be there for Cole during this whole rollercoaster and yet Cole ultimately turns to Nya to lean on, nor does Jesse appreciate the way Cole acts about the Jay + Nya situation (as Cole said the wrong thing to Jay hence their “fight” + is unintentionally leading Nya on a bit) or the Zane + Pixal one (Cole also says something out of hurt to Zane + is not being nice to Pixal) and calls him out for it (because out of everyone Jesse knows exactly what Cole is going through and that behavior ain’t it, chief)

And then Cole may or may not get hit with a very obvious brick of Realization that doesn’t get wrapped up until S4

Zane, meanwhile, is blissfully enjoying his budding relationship with a fellow Nindroid that gradually comes to help them both understand what it means to be mechanically human :D (Although, with evil Nindroids running around and the Overlord possessing a frightening individual, maybe Zane could stand to get his priorities straight snksnksnk. But on the other hand, when has Zane ever had the explicit chance to do something for himself? D’: )

AND all of this has a horrible secondary effect on Lloyd’s powers (as remember his element thrives on his connection with others, and now the Core Four is straight up falling apart and/or inadvertently ignoring him while they try to sort themselves out) which ties back into the main conflict of S3 which I cannot fully discuss yet but yes the romantic drama is plot-relevant and has a point but has way more realistic/understandable reasons for things happening instead of ooc drama out of nowhere for drama’s sake aaaaa

And we’re not going to space e-e

Seeing as how I’ve read some of your same scene different pov works— how do you like writing fics that go through the same events as another piece, but from another pov? Is it difficult to work inside the lines?

I used to read a LOT of canon-compliant mha fics where the only difference was like… Izuku can see ghosts this time (and has more obvious anger issues) so I AM very accustomed to fics that play inside the lines. Writing them is also fun. I have a very specific path I have to take (which definitely limits the yapping) but that opens up more room for internal monologuing. I don’t usually do it though
