Sporting Dynamite: The team making an impact

Goals at one end, fighting at the other. Sporting Dynamo play some of the best Sunday league football in Leicestershire. It’s their no-nonsense attitude however, that has put them in the nations spotlight. Yellow on their skin but red in their blood, Stephen Graham lives in this small town but it’s Dynamo showing why This is England.

Asked to describe the team, Club Secretary Harry Taylor said: “It’s took a long time to get to where we’re at now, but these lads play 2024 football with a 2000’s attitude, if you know what I mean. The beautiful game needs monsters and we provide exactly that.”

Last season saw Dynamo bring home silverware to the town of Ibstock, Leicestershire, for the first time since 2014. Even more surprisingly, they manged it on two occasions.

Leading up to April, they found themselves top of the league and a semi-final away from reaching the Arthur Moore Cup Final, in their way, Oadby Owls. 2-2 in normal time saw the cagey affair go to extra time. Oadby hit the woodwork twice before winger Giorgio Stylianou wrapped it into the top right corner sealing Dynamo's date with destiny.

The 28th of April would prove to be a day in the history books as a dominant 3-0 display, crowned them Arthur Moore Cup champions against a hardworking CFA (Community Football Academy) team.

A scent of a second piece of silverware in the Billy Walton cup spread like a virus on the fifth of May and as the sun set, Dynamo battled hard against Sileby Athletic. 1-1 at halftime meant everything was to play for but despite the yellow flares that engulfed the pitch, defender George Ludlam only saw one colour. Red. Shortly after Sileby grabbed a second, all but securing the cup. Dynamo defeated; despair drowned out the short-lived victory of the previous week, but all was not done.

Cup sorrows had to be paused as just 2 days after, Dynamo needed to defeat rivals Braunstone Athletic if they were to keep their league dreams alive. 89 minutes on the clock. 0-0. Up stepped Richard Lewis with a buzzer beater. Coolest man on the pitch. Keepers head in hands. Absolute chaos. One game to go.

A final day, nitty-gritty 0-0 meant Dynamo double dreamland, on goal difference, against all the odds.

“Since I came here in 2018, we've not had a team with this kind of ability so to have done it on the last day, after the trouble we had in the Sunday Cup, I think we deserve it” added Taylor.

A point deduction was given to Dynamo after tempers flared between the two sets of fans in the FA Sunday Cup against Nottingham based Poets Young Boys FC. They fell to a 4-2 loss, but this wouldn't be the last time they'd come across cup drama.

The 23/24 has brought new challenges as the team aim to add to last season's silverware.

“I could not be prouder of them for what they did last season, and neither could those who support them from the sidelines. This season's achievements again show the huge strides we’ve made as a collective.” Taylor said, when talking about how far the club has come, and he's not wrong.

The Dyna have gone unbeaten this season in the league and are well on their way to win The Alliance Football League once more.

Striker Kyle Jardine has been the shining light in his team this season and is no fool when it comes to providing in front of goal. 18 goals and 7 assists show why he's the truth. Jardine is garden in French, so it is no surprise seeing him move like the Boogey-man on oppositions home turfs.

Discussing his contribution to the team, Jardine said, “The numbers speak for themselves, 18 goals this season and over 40 for my Saturday team, it's no fluke, but that's my job and if we’re winning, I can see myself staying here for a long time.”

At 21 years old, the talent has played a crucial role and is far from done, most recently scoring in his Dynamo’s run in the FA Sunday Cup. In the round of 32 they came up against Royston Rovers FC and for the first time, their on-pitch antics would be made available to the whole world.

Tackles even Vinnie Jones would look away from. The monsters had arrived. A spill from a free kick saw Dynamo draw first blood as Jardine made no mistake converting.

Midfielder Jimmy Chandler entered the pitch in the second half, suspectedly biting an opposition player, turning the wrestling match into a hell in the cell. Dynamo struck once more, and it was none other than Chandler himself who sealed their fate.

An online video of the game went viral and displays the definition of a rough and tumble encounter, highlighting exactly why the nation lives for the rawness of Sunday league football.

The Following round saw Dynamo fall to a 4-1 defeat against eventual finalists Trooper FC, but spirits were high post match and showed just why they named themselves the best supported team in Sunday league.

There are somethings money simply can’t buy, and that’s heart. This SD is one even Mike Ashley couldn’t own. At the centre of their community, they’re no strangers to getting fans involved.

Sporting Dynamo organise a yearly, fan-favourite, bike-ride-pub-crawl for the team and supporters with money going to charity. Additionally, they have an annual golf and darts tournament at the local pub that welcomes all to get involved and it seems to have paid off with more locals coming to support.

“I think that's what sets us apart from many other teams, our support, and I'm sure the lads and Harry would agree. They play a big part in our success, so our victories are as much theirs as ours,” Jardine said, when talking about what makes Sporting Dynamo unique.

A push in attendance has also made more money available for the club, helping to refurbish the café and purchase an away kit.

Most recently Dynamo have landed in hot water once more following their semi-final in the Arthur Moore cup which was abandoned following a mass brawl between both fans and players. They now face potential expulsion from both the cup and league.

Taylor said, “We’ll see what our options are in the coming weeks, I hope we carry on, we provide a lot of joy for the fans”

The future for the club is unknown for now. Unfortunately, the football they play is not a problem, but their aggressive nature could prove them to be masters of their own downfall.

Thank you so much for this! Sorry about the angst and the Wayne centric nature of it. (There will probably be a part two at some point as well!)

There are exactly three things Wayne Munson knows to be true about the world.

The first is that he only has his job at the plant because his floor manager, a balding man with rosacea and a wedding ring on his swollen fingers, is still in love with his dead sister. The second is that thanks to that job at the plant, he nearly has enough money saved to buy Eddie the guitar he’s been raving about for his birthday. And the third, perhaps the saddest of all three, is that, despite Eddie being gone now for a month and a half, he still talks about him in present tense.

And you can call it the grieving process if you like. You can say that it’s a temporary thing. That, eventually, he’ll learn to stop saying that his nephew lives with him and, instead, say that he lived with him.

But Wayne wouldn’t agree.

See, he has done his fair share of grieving. He has outlived his parents and his siblings and most of the friends and lovers that he has ever been lucky enough to have. He knows loss like the back of his hand. But this… This doesn’t feel like loss. It feels raw and unjust and painful but it also feels wrong. Because he can still feel Eddie. Still hear the echo of his voice in the trailer and the songs he whistles on the porch. Sometimes he dreams of him and it’s not like any dream he has ever had. It’s vivid and real and he wakes up with dirt under his fingernails and the taste of copper in his mouth.

Because the dreams are always the same. His nephew is in the ground and Wayne has to dig him back up. It’s hard ground, so hard it rips at his skin as he claws at it, but he can hear Eddie calling for him through it. Can feel the tremors of him trying to dig his way out. The dream always ends just before he gets to him.

(Wayne stays awake for the rest of the night after those dreams. He bandages his bleeding fingers and washes the dirt away and prays to a god that he no longer believes in to make it make sense. He never gets an answer. Sometimes he wonders if he’d believe it if he did.)

Unlike the other mourners in Hawkins, no one brings Wayne food or condolences or a single fleeting moment of acknowledgment. The only visitors he ever gets are people seeking vengeance. They throw paint at his new trailer or smash the windows of his car or come in groups with bats and whatever other weapons they’ve managed to find on their way over.

So he buys another gun, something small that he can sleep with under his pillow, and he becomes accustomed to sleeping with his back to the door. He has a knife too, back from his hunting days, but looking at it makes him feel every bit the person they say he is. He keeps it in a box by the door and tells himself it’s only for life and death situations. The truth is that he’d probably not use it even then. That, at this point, he’s not sure why he’s even trying to defend himself.

All of this to say, he doesn’t quite believe it when he gets a knock at the door followed by a quiet voice explaining that they’re a friend of Eddie’s. “It’s me, Mr Munson. It’s Dustin. I gave you his necklace. I, uh, I told you that…”

He knows exactly who Dustin is. That day is etched into his mind so deeply that he will never be able to smooth out the lines. As unfair as it is to the kid, Dustin is synonymous with death in Wayne’s mind. But he was Eddie’s friend and Wayne doesn’t know how to say no to that. So he lets him in. He lets him in and he offers him coffee and he stands quietly while Dustin tells him everything.

And Wayne finally knows for sure then that he’s not losing his mind. That the dreams have always been more than dreams. That the blood and dirt and the ache in his chest weren’t part of his imagination.

And he knows, before the words come out of Dustin’s mouth, that Eddie is alive. In what state, he doesn’t know, but he is alive. In this hellish dimension. Broken and in need of help.

And here enters a fourth truth, perhaps the most important truth, that Wayne Munson would do anything for Eddie. He made a promise on the day that he was born to protect him with his life and he isn’t about to break that now. He would walk into hell to bring him home.

And that later night, he does.

After getting in a few minutes of heavily interrupted sleep throughout the night, I only realized Denki's alarm was going off after he started to stir, aimlessly patting behind him to try and hit his alarm clock. He slowly sat up a bit to properly shut off his alarm before burying his face back into my stomach. I went to move my hand from his hair, just for him to grab my hand and move it back to his hair.

"My love, we have to get up. If we don't then my Dad will absolutely come in here again." I felt him groan, holding me just a little tighter before he sat up a bit.

"But you're so comfortable and warm." He whined, pouting as he looked at me.

"I'm glad. But I'd rather have my boyfriend alive." I told him, cupping his face gently. He leaned into my touch and gave me a sleepy smile before he started looking concerned.

"You didn't sleep last night?" He asked gently, his eyes filling with concern.

"Couldn't really sleep." I told him quietly, feeling slightly ashamed admitting it.

"Maybe tonight you'll get more sleep." He hummed and went to lay back down but I tapped his cheek with my thumb.

"Baby, we have to get up." I reiterated. He sighed but agreed, slowly getting up and rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.

I slowly sat up too, soon after leaving his room to get my hearing aids and get changed into my uniform. On the way down to the commons, I crossed paths with Hitoshi and Izuku in the elevator.

Hey, you okay after last night?

I'm doing better. Did you sleep at all?

I'm not gonna answer that.

"Dad's gonna kill you." Hitoshi snorted but he still looked concerned.

"I'll live." I brushed off, gravitating to the coffee immediately.

"Tsukababes?" Mina chimed in, looking at me in dismay. "You didn't sleep?" She asked softly, concern ever present in her expression.

"I got a little bit of sleep. I'll be fine. Promise." I tried to brush off, knowing there was a small chance of her letting it go. She sighed but gave me a tight hug.

With a to-go cup of coffee and holding my boyfriends hand, we made it to class on time. Narrowly avoiding Iida lecturing us to get there as soon as possible.

"Tsukare! Don't think I forgot you!" Iida announced as he came back in. "I see those dark circles! Have you been getting enough sleep?"

"Hundred percent." I responded sarcastically, walking Izuku walk in nervously. "Hey, Zuku! Over here!" I called him over, hoping to get him away from Aoyama and it thankfully worked.

Class dragged by, I sat mostly still inattentive and mostly trying to stay awake.

"Woah, look at this. Mount Lady teamed up with Edgeshot! And Kamui Woods!" Denki exclaimed between classes while we all grabbed our hero costume cases, showing me his phone excitedly.

"Woah, really? I wonder what for." I responded.

"I think they're going by 'Team Lurkers'. I saw it mentioned in the news earlier." Jirou commented.

"There sure are a bunch of heroes teaming up these days." Denki said excitedly.

"Once we're pros, we should do some team-ups too!" Mina exclaimed. "Here's an idea!" She turned to Uraraka as they started walking out.

I reached up and grabbed my suit from the wall, waiting for my brother and Denki to grab theirs. I fidgeted with my hearing aids and after some debate, opted to take them out, a migraine hitting me like a brick wall.

Hey, you don't look so good.

I'm gonna be sick. I barely got out before walking over to the trash can and upchucking the bit of toast I had this morning.

I felt someone start rubbing my back and I could tell from the touch alone it was my boyfriend. I held my head in my hands as the pain started to travel, I haven't had one hit me this hard and this fast in a while. After a moment, I felt my brother start rubbing my back and helping me move, probably telling everyone he was taking me to Recovery Girl.

We walked the familiar path, I was barely coherent enough to properly walk with the pain radiating in my skull. I was soon placed on the cot, a few muffled voices talking around me but even that was excruciating and nauseating.

Migraine. Puked everything up, no gradual start. One of the worst ones I've had in a while. Pains an 8.

I managed to sign with my shaky hands. A cool, wet cloth was placed on my forehead and over my eyes, instantly relieving some of my pain. I let out a sigh of relief and held my head.

Thank you.

I sat there for about twenty minutes before I felt Chiyo tap my hand, placing something in a wrapper, presumably a granola bar, in my palm. Hesitantly, I ate it, knowing if I wanted to take my migraine meds, I would need something in my system. Another ten minutes of precautionary waiting while nursing a water bottle. My pain dropping down to maybe a 7 while I deprived half of my senses. Then I felt her place the medicine in my hand, I quickly took the pills that I knew were white and oblong.

Then the true waiting game started.

How long these would take to kick in.

I let my shoulders slowly relax, uncaring about whoever might come in. It was a moment of peace and quite, the pain being the only thing tethering me to the earth. I didn't know how much time had passed before I peaked through the cloth long enough to find a bin, thankfully she sat one within arms reach of me, to once again, let the contents of my stomach escape. She came over and rubbed my back gently before taking the bowl.

A few more minutes ticked by and I felt someone tapping my hand before gingerly lifting the cloth off my eyes. The blinds were drawn shut and all of the lights were off, making it mildly tolerable in comparison to how I felt in the classroom. Dad sat beside me, looking at me with heavy concern.

I love you, but you look like shit.

Feel like it too.

I was talking to the old lady. She thinks that with everything that's been going on and the lack of sleep you've been getting triggered it to be substantially worse and not give you any warnings.

I figured that was why. It's been a while since I've thrown up from one of these or it got to be this bad. Usually I'm pretty good with a preemptive strike to get rid of them.

You usually are. However this isn't the usual.

I know. I'm worried. I swallowed the lump in my throat and tried to figure out a way to take all of the heat off myself but still get my point across. I'm not doing as okay as I thought I would be. But I'm also worried about you and Pops and Toshi. I can see how much stuff is effecting each of you. And we all have our own stuff going on too.

We'll talk more about it later when you're not coming down from a migraine.

Okay.

I couldn't sleep. Just wasn't able to.

He nodded and ruffled my hair, flipping the cloth over to the cool side after a moment and just sat with me.

I sat up a bit when I saw movement in the corner of my eye, Yoru walking in sheepishly.

"Hey, kiddo. How ya feeling?" He asked as he made his way over.

"Getting better. What are you doing here? Did we have ultimate move stuff today?" I asked softly, the reverberation of my own voice felt painful. However it still wasn't as bad as earlier.

"Yeah. I was talking to your Dad. We figured that me and you could do some one on one training in the TDL with him to supervise." He offered and I nodded.

"Yeah. That sounds good." I mumbled, staving off the nausea resonating in my core. "Do you think Hitoshi can join us? Give you more of a challenge?"

"Sure. Let me know when you want to meet there for training, kid." I nodded and shut my eyes, slowly laying my head back again. Dad stayed with me for a little bit longer before going back to the class.

It took almost three hours for it to subside, but I was more relieved than anything that it didn't last longer like some of them. My brother met up with me at Recovery Girls office, bringing me a spare change of clothes to train in and texted Yoru for me. I stuffed my uniform in my bag, now adorning a black tank top and grey sweats and walking with my brother to the TDL. Denki joining us to watch, claiming that he wanted to see me spar since he hasn't in a while.

"You kids ready?" Yoru asked cockily and I nodded. "What are we working on today?"

"I want to work on my control with my capture weapon." Hitoshi said, making Yoru raise an eyebrow.

"Well as you know, we're supposed to be working on Ultimate Moves." He tried to push and I could see the irk mark forming on Toshi's forehead.

"I don't have one. I didn't work on any today either. I don't want to be a limelight hero, I'm going for underground. Like our Dad. They don't have ultimate moves that they call out." He responded.

"Fine. Yeah, work on control. I'm sure you could use it." Yoru said in a condescending, drawled out tone. My brother raised an eyebrow in defiance and sent out his capture weapon before the hero could react, having him trapped in his spot and firmly secured before he could think. "Shit, you sure are Eraser's kid. Got the same look on your face and everything." He sighed as he tried to squirm out of the cloth bindings while Denki stifled his chuckles from beside our Dad. "Okay, I yield, you can let me go now." The cloth suddenly fell limp and Hitoshi brought it back. "You're almost on Eraser's level with that thing. Okay then, Onryo, why do you want to work on today?"

"I want to work on using my Pin Point Accuracy without my glasses, in case anything happens where they might break or I can't use them." I said plainly, still recovering from the migraine.

"Sounds like a plan. I'll give you some vines since Cementoss isn't here to build you any walls." I nodded and got myself ready. He sent out a few vines and I found the spot, mumbling the name of the move under my breath. I cut the vine in half, but I was off by about two yards, a crack forming in the ground. "Damn. Seems like you picked up in it quick." I shook my head and crouched down.

"No. I was off about two yards from where I was aiming." I muttered, glaring at the dismembered vine.

"It's your first time really trying without your glasses. It's gonna take time." I sighed but nodded, knowing Yoru was right.

He sent out another string of vines, the two of us repeating the process for nearly forty minutes before I got frustrated and sat down.

"Why can't I get it?" I angrily mumbled at the ground. I've done this dozens of time in training, why couldn't I get it now.

"You have a mental block. If it gets any worse, you'll end up stunting how you use it altogether." I heard Dad say from across the gym. "Don't tell me you don't. I know you do. I've been able to see it for a few days now. We need to stop it before it gets worse. Break that wall in your path." I let out a huff of air and brought myself back into a crouch.

"Imagine it's like a sword making contact. You know your aim, you know where it'll land on the path it's swinging." Yoru suggested and I mulled it over, clearly getting lost in my head.

"Onryo." I heard Dad say firmly and I looked up to meet his eye. "Find a way to stop this block. What do you need to do?" I ran a hand through my dampened curls and thought on it.

"Yoru, hand to hand with quirks randomly thrown in." I finally said, feeling like I was at a last stitch effort.

"Fine by me." He said with a smirk. I stood up fully and stepped closer to him, waiting for him to make the first move.

He led with a kick that I easily rolled under, catching him off guard when I grabbed his ankle and brought him down. He rolled to the side and got back up, sending a punch my way. I blocked, ducking and weaving while still sending out blows. We each landed a few hits here and there, most of the time we dodged and blocked.

"Your Dad taught you well." He stated casually.

"I know." I replied, not allowing myself to get distracted. I sent a punch, knowing fully well he would catch it and he did. I took the distraction I made to send a kick to his side, watching him sputter.

"What? Showing off for blondie?" He asked through a wheezed breath.

"Not at all." I said before he went to send another hit. We went back and forth again for a few minutes until he tried to pull the same move on me. I caught his fist in my hand, and then his leg, pinning it to my side. I meticulously slid my foot behind his planted one and kicked back on his heel, pushing his hand backwards at the same time to make him fall. "That was showing off." I breathed out, watching as he coughed harshly.

"Again." I heard Dad say from across the gym. "You didn't use any quirks, go again." I pinched the bridge of my nose and nodded, as frustrated as I was, I knew why he was doing this and I would thank him later.

So we sparred. We sparred eleven times. Only once out of those did I use my quirk briefly while Yoru used his plenty. Then it happened. That magical movie-esque moment. I was in the air, Yoru taking advantage over a moment and flinging me up with a vine. I originally planned to come down with a kick, until my window of opportunity struck. He was sending a vine straight up at me and I clearly said the name of my move, taking Yoru's advice with the sword analogy and watched as the vine split almost exactly where I intended, only a few inches off. I landed in a small crouch, rolling forward to lessen the blow of the fall and straight into his ankles. He fell back and tapped the ground twice before letting his limbs flop.

"Dad! I did it!" I exclaimed, Toshi running over and giving me a hug.

"Shit, I haven't gone hand to hand like that in a while, you're out here making me look like a rookie, squirt." Yoru said. I laughed off his comment and walked over to him, reaching out a hand and pulling him up. "And where the fuck did these muscles come from? You're a teenager."

"A teenager in a superhuman society with pro heroes for parents." I shot back.

"I'm wiped out after that." He grumbled. "Hey, I'll see you next week, right?" I groaned dramatically and flung my head back.

"Yeah. And I have a surprise for you." I told him, watching him grow very confused very fast.

"It's your birthday. Shouldn't you be the one getting a surprise?"

"Trust me. You'll like this surprise." I told him. He shrugged his shoulders but nodded. He gave me an awkward side hug before leaving and I flopped onto my brother. "Hey, Toshi. I never got to ask you, but why were you giving him the evil eye during dinner a while back...?" My words trailed off as a certain rock caught my attention. "Dad?" I asked in a whisper as I slowly walked closer to the words written in french, engraved into a rock.

"Onryo? What's the matter?" He asked and I slowly sat down.

We need to talk alone. Maybe get Nedzu in here too.

"I need to have a word with Onryo, alone." He said firmly, waiting for Hitoshi and Denki to leave before crouching next to me. "Onryo?" He asked again.

"Call Nedzu." I mumbled, staring at the words in shock.

"What does it say?" Nedzu asked gently, staring at the rock beside me, Dad on my other side.

"Il faut se méfier de l'eau qui dort." I read off the rock. "Beware the water that sleeps or there is no worse water than sleeping water. Layman's terms, still waters may run deep." I said, swallowing the lump in my throat. "This isn't good." I whispered.

"It's a good thing you know french." Dad commented but I shook my head.

"Aoyama wrote this. He's the only other one in the class that knows the language. Or would be able to engrave it in a rock." I licked my lips nervously. "So much for sleeping tonight. It's a warning."

"A warning?" Dad asked.

"Yeah, it basically means it's the quiet ones you have to watch out for, a wolf in sheep's clothing situation." I confirmed. "That's the old meaning, at least. It's a proverb stemming from Latin, now it's usually used for something about placidity hiding a passionate or subtle nature. It used to refer to something else though, can't remember what exactly." I explained. "I'm worried."

"Understandably so. But try not to dwell on it." Nedzu told me. "We're on top of this and will look into why he wrote this." I nodded slightly but still stared at the words, racking my brain for what the old meaning was. "Tsukare. Don't stress yourself over it. We'll figure this out."

"I'm trying to remember what it was. Like, specifically. The synopsis was a warning. Similar to sleep with one eye open, know your enemy, everyone is a suspect no matter how they appear type thing. I just, I can't remember what it was commonly referenced to." Dad looked at me confused for a minute.

"You never fail to surprise me, but when did you learn about that?" He asked as he turned back to the french engraving.

"Sometime in junior high when I was learning french and spanish. Had a mental block on them for a few weeks, so I figured if I studied stuff about latin since it's the base language, it'd come easier. Didn't work, but read some cool stuff." I mumbled almost inaudibly, racking my brain for what the hell I had read.

"You're going to give yourself an aneurysm if you keep stressing over it." Dad stated in his typical dry sarcasm. I rolled my eyes but stared at it with just as much intensity. "You're not sitting here all night." He told me with no room for argument. "Go back to the dorms and get changed, you're staying the night with your Pops and I."

"I hate to come off as nosy, but is everything alright, Shouta?" Nedzu asked and I chuckled under my breath.

"No disrespect, but you loving being nosy. You have an intelligence quirk, it's what you live for." I told him. "I didn't sleep last night, so he probably wants me to stay the night so I actually sleep and he can erase my quirk if I have another nightmare where I wake up screaming."

"You'd be right." Dad confirmed and I nodded. "So go get changed." I groaned and stood up, taking my time to get back to the dorms.

"Tsukababes! Oh em gee!!" I rolled my eyes and checked my phone as I felt it buzz.

I felt my face light up a bright red and I shoved my phone in my pocket.

"I-I'm gonna go change." I stumbled over my words, earning a few giggles from Mina and a smirk from my boyfriend. My brother looked confused and I saw Aoyama trying to give Izuku more cheese.

I rushed around my room haphazardly as I changed into a baggy long sleeve and a pair of basketball shorts. I tossed my hearing aids on the charger and grabbed my laptop, putting it in its case before heading back downstairs. I set it on one of the tables and wrapped my arms around my boyfriends waist while he was brushing his teeth in the commons. He leaned back into me and tapped on my wrist, pointing towards Mina.

"Tsukababes! What happened to your leg?!" I could hear the very faint mumbling of her yell, clearly shocked. I followed her gaze down to my calf and realized what scar she was talking about.

"That's when Tsukare was a total badass during the licensing exams and ran a lady out of a collapsing building." Jirou added, coming up behind Mina and resting her forearms on her shoulders.

Izu. What happened?

We talked everything out and we're friends now! He said that he could realize my body wasn't made for my quirk, and he's just like me with his. His body doesn't have the right constitution for it either and he said he wanted to comfort me and let me know I wasn't alone.

I looked at Aoyama, analyzing him. I didn't trust him.

Hey, what happened?

Something's off about him.

Well, yeah, he's Aoyama. He sparkles, like, literally.

Not that, it's something else. I don't trust him.

I'm not saying that, you can be friends with whoever you'd like. I'm just saying my truth on it, I don't trust him.

Izuku nodded and Denki tapped my arm again. I dropped my arms and watched him walk to the bathroom before coming back without a tooth brush.

"Everything okay? Your Dad kinda rushed us out of there." He asked as he got closer to me.

"Yeah. Yeah, he uh, wanted to talk to me about my grades. He was worried that they're going to start slipping because of everything." My stomach churned as I lied through my teeth to him. He looked at me in dismay and I felt even worse. "I'm sleeping at my parents tonight, my Dad is basically forcing me to. But I'll text you, okay?" He nodded a little and looked sad. I gently cupped his face and pressed my lips to his, hoping to convey my sincerity and trust through a small action.

"Okay." He mumbled and pressed another kiss to my lips. I grabbed my laptop and saw my brother fake gagging in the corner before following me out the door.

I tucked my phone away and took off my shoes after walking through the door to my parents place, my brother hot on my trail.

"Can someone please fill me in on what happened earlier? Because now I'm even more fucking confused." My brother said immediately, clearly frustrated as he signed messily.

"Woah, back it up, what happened?" Pops asked calmly, trying his hardest to be the voice of reason.

"I don't know, first Onryo short circuited after training, then Dad sent me and Kaminari out of the TDL, Onryo told Izuku he doesn't trust Aoyama and then I watched him lie to Kaminari!" He said, clearly exasperated.

"Okay, let's sit down in the living room while we wait for your Dad. Sleepy head's getting out of the shower." Pops said soothingly, resting his hands on Toshi's biceps. My brother plopped his head on his chest and let out a full body sigh. "But why did you lie to Kaminari? Is something wrong?" Pops asked while looking at me.

"Because I didn't know how much I was allowed to tell him or anyone so I said Dad wanted to talk to me cause he was concerned about my grades slipping after everything that's happened and I didn't wanna say I would talk about it later cause I knew Mina would be relentless about asking what happened and I know it comes from a place of love but I didn't want to have her trying to figure it out." I explained, my words rushed and coming out in one breath. "I already texted Denki apologizing and explained that I can't talk about it right now cause I don't know how much I can even say and explained my reasoning and he said he understood and he doesn't fault me for how I handled it."

"Wow, I gotta say I'm not used to my teenagers acting like teenagers. So this is new and refreshing. You probably did the right thing, not the lying part, but communicating to him why you did." I nodded and plopped my head on Hitoshi's back.

8. Do you look up to anyone in your life?

My sister because she also was raised in the same way as me but came really amazing person and mother. She is really good in her career and family, she succeeded a lot in both(she is only 32, she has a husband and two sons, who loves and cherish her. she has bachelor and master degrees in geography. she is the second person in administration in her school. she is amazing teacher who is loved by her students). she is just amazing!!!!!! It's sometimes hard to have 10 years gap, but at the same time I'm happy I have such a gap with her because she taught me a lot

14. What petty event are you still embarrassed about?

as a kid I was really talkative but like never knew where to shut up. So I like embarrassed about all my childhood

19. Do you swear?

yes, on both English and Russian. and I even know some words on German. I mean it's in my blood. not that I swear a lot or in front of kids or something like that. but i can do it and sometimes i have periods when i just do it more constantly than not. also as a linguist i can tell that swear words are not such an "enemies". people created them for a reason as all other words. gave then emotional meaning and then made taboo themselves. if people would stop say it's taboo to say it and just use it as emotional words(because we need words like "fuck" to scream when we are in pain or just excited or smt like that) problem about swearing would be solved. such an emotional words helps us to explain out emotions, let them out. ofc you don't have to swear if you don't want to, but it's really not such a big deal

26. What does your favorite tattoo mean to you? Or if you had to get a tattoo, what would it be? Why?

I'm planning to have "Love me anyway" tattoo soon because i feel it too deep not to put it on my body(trauma from never being enough you know). then I also love two other quotes from 911 "if matter to you most is how other people see you then you haven't learned a dam thing" and "there's no locked rooms anywhere where with right tools and enough time you can't get into." first on pretty easy means for me "do not let others to say to you how to see yourself" and second one is like "never give up" but also let you know that maybe try other ways or tools and be patient if you really want to achieve it.

I also really wants to have bracelet tattoo with a pulse to remember that I always can do that I love till I'm alive and i should do WHAT I WANT (trauma speaking again). also i just want to show off this tattoo to my parents faces

When i was a kid, and mostly nowadays too, I prefer to be early, because you know anxiety and I just hate to be late. But sometimes I lazy and/or depressed and I stays in bed till I will come somewhere on time or even late

89. Do you feel too hot or too cold more often?

When I was a kid and even as teenager (less tho) I was mostly hot, except in teenage-hood (somewhere since 14 I had cold hands and sometimes cold foots on winter). Now after I lost weight and try to be more plant based I runs cold most of the year except late may-early october (even tho bad days with really cold rainy days happens)

Marriage. 89

Chapter 89: Fall Festival

After what happened at the Halloween party, Sharpner didn’t stop bring up how I should join the martial arts club. I kept telling him no, that I enjoy the debate club. I was impressed that Videl also join, instead of going back to the martial arts club. This month topic was based on the many different civilizations there were, and how they came together. A few actually caught my attention. Like the different barbarian tribes. The way the books describe these tribes sounds like someone I know.

After a long day of school and crimefighting, I made my way home. When I got home, I was greeted by grandpa, and my questions from earlier came up. After dinner, turns out grandpa was staying over for the weekend. The next day was Saturday. Mom went shopping with dad, and grandpa tried to spend time with us. That’s when I finally asked. “Grandpa, do know anything about the Mongolian?” he spit out his tea, and looked away. I was just about to ask more on the subject, till mom came home. So, I asked her the question.

“Yes. Actually, you can say that you and Goten have their blood running in your blood.” I then looked back at grandpa. “It’s kind of how you could explain why dad, and I are the way we are. Even though, I’m actually short, if you go by my mother’s side. Isn’t that what you told me, dad?” now I was left confused.

After grandpa explained that grandma was part of amazon tribe, before she ran away from home. So, if that’s the case, that would mean both my parents comes warriors. Dad is from an alien race, and mom is from an earth tribe. Later that afternoon, I called Videl about what I found out. I also build the courage to asked her to join my family for the yearly fall festival. She was shock who my grandfather was, also I was happy she said yes to the invite.

I can’t believe she got her dad to watch the boys. Also, the fact she’s making me go shopping with her. Especially after the fact, she was surprised that I sold a few animals, and wood. When I told her that, she got so excited, and suggested we went shopping. She soon after she made a few calls, and got me to wear something I haven’t in a long time. Casual clothes feels weird, and the look she gives me actually make my face feel hot. “Is my Goku blushing?” It just made my face hotter. Moments like this always remind me of the first time we went shopping.

As we take nimbus to West City, Chichi tells me how excited she is. I asked why, and she explain about the fall festival next week. “Oh yeah. We missed the summer one.” That’s when she hugged me tighter. “This will be my first festival back.” The rest of the trip was quiet, but I couldn’t help have a small smile. My first festival alive again, and with Goten no less.

While I follow her around the mall, I couldn’t help enjoy my wife’s enjoyment. Before I used to hate shopping with her, but now I just can’t help enjoy it. Seeing her go through the shops was a joy to watch now. The things I didn’t think I would actually miss; I missed the most. I even suggested a few things here and there. Which shock Chichi. “You sure the green would look nice?” I nod my head. Seeing her smile was just perfect.

Today was just perfect. Not only did Goku not complain about going shopping, he also help pick things out. I can’t believe it. He actually help pick out the perfect color for the family’s new kimonos. I even noticed a lot of females giving my husband naughty looks, and looking jealous of me. This felt nice. Almost like I’m showing off my perfect looking husband.

When we get home, Gohan asked questions. Boy, it’s been years that I had talked about that. I never really thought I would have to tell my boys, but it felt good. Once Goku helped me put what we bought away, I start to leave the room. I was going to head downstairs, to make lunch, but was stopped by my husband. “Goku, let me go. I have to get started on lunch.”

“Not until I get a kiss.” I was about to protest, till I saw the face he was giving me. I felt his thumb rub my cheek. “You look so happy today.” I couldn’t help blush, as I tell he’s the reason why. “No, I’m not.” I tell him that he is, and then I gave him a quick kiss. I tried to escape, and he holds my hips. He started kissing my neck. “Can I get another?” I couldn’t stop giggling at that. “Come on. Just one more.” I give him a kiss on the check. He lets me go, and I’m just left smiling as I went downstairs. The rest of the day went by smoothly. Videl even stopped by, to study with Gohan, and stood for dinner. Such a sweet girl.

This is going to be my first festival with dad. I’m so excited. After mom helped me, with my kimono, me and Goten were sitting on the couch for our parents. When mom came back downstairs, she looked so pretty. Usually mom always looks pretty, but this time she seem to be glowing. She was even wearing flowers in her hair. I never seen those before. Even Gohan looked impressed by mom’s beauty. Just then Videl came, and so, we all went to grandpa’s kingdom together.

I mostly stood close by to mom, but eventually I was allowed to go exploring on my own. There were a lot of fun games, and I even played with other kids. But as I played, I started hearing whispers. “Did you hear? He finally came back.” “I wonder why he stood away longer this time.” “I bet she finally had enough and forced him back.” “She probably finally admitted that she’s awful at being a single mother.” The grownups were even laughing. And whenever I tried to find out who was laughing, all the grownups had turned away.

So, I went in search of mom. When I found her, she and dad were on a bench. He was wiping her tears, and telling her it was ok. Dad looked very upset about something. That’s when I noticed that Gohan and Videl was also there. I walked over to Gohan, and asked what happened. “Nothing to worry about squirt. Are you having fun?” I told him yeah. Well, until, I heard grownups talking about someone. That’s when Gohan’s smile went away, and dad really looked angry.

“Goku, don’t. Please.” When I looked over to my parents, mom was holding dad’s hand. He was standing, and looked very angry. What’s going on? “Goku, it’s ok. Lets just enjoy the rest of the festival as a family.” He gave mom one more look before nodding. As we went back, dad still didn’t look relax. So, I tried to grab his hand. Lucky for me, when he looked at me, he started smiling. He then picked me, and we went to play games. The rest of the festival was fun. On the way back home, I had fell asleep in dad’s arms.

When we got to the festival, dad insisted that the girls go ahead of us. And that they should take Goten, too. I was going to ask what he was planning, when he suddenly dragged me along somewhere. We soon came upon a small booth, with cups stacked up. “Oh, I must be going insane. Is that really you, Goku?”

“Yeah. In the flesh. I see you still run this fun game.” They both laughed. Who was this guy?

“So, I assume you want to try your hands on getting this year’s prize?” The old man began to chuckle. “Well, I do have 7 years’ worth of prizes. How bout I let you take 7 shots. On the house.” He held a big smile.

“I couldn’t. Besides I’m not the one who’s going to be playing.” The old man looked confused, till he saw me. He then smiled, and placed 7 small balls on the counter. “Is it still 50 yen?”

“Na. It’s on the house.” Dad told him thanks. Then dad looked at me, and told me how this game worked. Before long I was walking away with 7 boxes. I was still in shock that dad made me do that. I was even surprised what the prizes were.

“So, that’s how you got mom the crystal flowers.” Dad was blushing as he nodded. “Thanks dad.” As we went in search of the girls, we couldn’t stop over hearing the gossip going around. These people still can’t say anything nice about dad, or mom. When I looked to dad, he showed signs of being upset. He then said that we better hurry, and find mom. I nodded, and we followed her ki. When we found her, Videl was holding her back. When I looked across from them, there was a lady holding her nose. You can tell she was bleeding. Oh boy. This is bad. Mom heard the whispers, or that lady got in mom’s face.

I then felt dad’s ki was raising, and when I looked next to me, he was flickering. Oh no. Not good. I quickly tried to help Videl, and got mom. Dad followed as I tried to find a bench mom could sit on. When we got away, was when mom finally started crying. Also, dad just went full on super sayian, and looked ready to go back into the festival. Not good at all. I had to quickly pull dad’s attention back to a crying mom. Before long, dad was trying his best to calm mom down, and that’s when Goten appeared. When he told us that he heard people whispering about someone, dad got upset again. Thankfully mom stopped him. Once everyone was calm, we tried to enjoy a bit more of the festival.

Afterwards, I was flying with Videl to her home. It was silent for a while. “I’m sorry about that.”

“About what?”

“What happened with mom. The villagers always used to talk about my parents. I actually thought they stopped after the cell games. Guess I was wrong.”

“Don’t sweat it. Beside that lady had it coming. Saying stuff how your mom is only dressing up, because she finally dragged your dad back. I actually was going to punch her.” We then both smiled. “So.” I looked at her. “Are you going to tell me what’s in that bag, you been carrying around?” That’s when I finally remembered what was in my hands. I felt my face start burning, as I tried saying how it was for her. We stopped flying, and she took the bag from me.

I felt my anxious as I watched her open the bag. When she pulled out the first box, I could practically hear my heart beating in my ears. When she opened it, she looked shock, then her face became unreadable. She then put it back in the bag. Oh no! Does she not like it? I started to panic, and failed to noticed that she flew closer to me. When I did notice she was super close to me, I could still see the unreadable expression. She really doesn’t like it.

When we finally got home, I placed Goten to bed. Afterward I met with Chichi, in our room. I was still highly upset on what happened. I just couldn’t believe it. The moment I walked into our room, I was greeted with arms holding me. I looked down and saw that my little wife was crying. I hugged her, and rubbed her back. I still can’t believe those people still talk bad about Chichi. Even worst that the boys were there. I started feeling my anger raising again. They made Chichi cry. They spoke badly about her around the boys. It always got me so mad when they did that around Gohan. And now they have the nerve to do so around Goten. I thought they would have stopped, especially how Piccolo stood up for Chichi. When I did it, nobody listened. When he did it, everyone went quiet for a long time.

“Goku.” I snapped back to reality, and looked to see Chichi looking up at me. “Want a snack?” I was completely thrown off by that. I said no; how I just wasn’t in the mood. She then looked even more upset. “I said. Do you want a snack?” Uh? I tried saying no again, only for her to start crying. I finally said yes, and we went to the kitchen.

Snack ended up being a full meal. She sat on my lap, and fed me. Every time I took a bite, she kissed my cheek. I also fed her, and kissed her cheek. It was a nice peaceful moment. Soon enough Gohan walked through the front door. He had a big smile as he walked to his room. Guess Videl liked it. After the food was done, I carried Chichi to our room. “You feeling better?” I told her yeah, and kissed her forehead. “We’re officially never going back there again.” I agreed with her.

When we got to our room, I was about to carry her to our bed, when she whispered that I should lock the door. Well then. I excitedly lock the door and asked what else she wanted. We ended up taking a quick shower together, before I had her all to myself, in our bed. As I loving thrust into her, she wouldn’t let my lips go. This was a very good ending to an awful day.

I can’t believe it. During the 7 years Goku was gone, nobody said anything. I did notice the pity looks everyone gave me. But I always paid no mind, as I made sure the boys always had fun. But the first festival Goku is back, everyone starts talking again. And one person had the nerve to speak badly to my face. Thankfully Videl was there. I know I was extremely upset, but when I saw how it affected Goku it made me feel even worst. Goku hates it when they talk about me, and even worst around Gohan. Not only was he tried to calm me down, I tried calming him down. But when Goten said that, it really angered Goku.

My dear husband. I’m so happy that Goten didn’t leave his side, as we tried enjoying the rest of the festival. But the moment we came home, I could tell it still bothered him. He went to tuck Goten to bed, as I went to undo my hair. When I heard Goku coming upstairs, I waited for him by our door. He tries so hard to make everyone happy, so I’m going to do the same. He’s so upset that he doesn’t want to eat. That just won’t do.

I finally got him to eat something. I was even sitting on his lap, as I fed him, and kissed his cheek. His mood was starting to improve. He even started feeding me, and giving me kisses. The moment Gohan came home, he was smiling, which made us smile. As we watched our son, make his way to his room, we couldn’t help smile at him. “Our little Gohan is growing up so fast.” I then felt a kissed on my neck. I looked to Goku, and he held the sweetest smile. “All thanks to his wonderful mommy.” I felt myself blush at that. I tried telling him that he also helped. “No. You did most of the work.” I shook my head and kept saying how he also helped. He then kisses my lips.

After we finished eating, I went about washing the dishes. Goku even helped. The moment felt super peaceful. I was quite happy, and when I looked to Goku, he looked happy too. “Almost feels like nothing ever happened to our family.” I then felt him kiss my forehead. “I sometimes wonder if this is what it would have been like if everything didn’t happened.” He then hugged me from behind, and kissed my neck. He sway us back and forth, and kept kissing my neck. It soon ended up with him carrying me, and sharing kisses as we made our way to our room.

Inside I told him to lock the door, and then we went to take a shower. Inside the shower he cleaned me. Well, not at first. But every touched was gentle, and the way his fingers worked me was madding. He was also nipping and licking my neck. Especially given extra attention to his mark. “I love you.” I told him I love him too. After the shower, we ended up on the bed, where he showered me with love. I didn’t want to let him go. As he thrust into me, I kept his lips to mine. The rest of the night was peaceful as we snuggle together.

She kissed me. It threw me off guard, but it made me so happy. So, she did like it. When we made it to her home, we ended up talking in her room. I don’t know how it happened, but I had in my lap as held her close. Holding her like this felt super nice. We were just talking about different topics, even about a project that was coming up. She would sometimes even kiss my cheek, and I felt my cheek burning.

When she kiss me again, I turned my face in time that our lips touch. It felt electric. We kept dropping kisses on each other’s lips. Soon our tongues dance together, and my tongue tasted all inside her mouth. When we finally parted, we were breathless. Plus, her eyes looks so dreamy, that I could just get lost in them. Without thinking, I pressed my lips against hers again. We kept kissing till we heard a knock at her door. We started to laugh, as I let her get the door. It was her dad, and I greeted him. He gave me a funny look, and then said I had to start leaving. I gave Videl one more hug, before I flew out the window.

As I flew home, I was so over the top happy. Not only did Videl like what I gave her, she also kissed me. Then we ended up having our first make out session. Today was full of so many emotions, but it ended on a high note. Once I was away from the city, I started doing summersaults in the sky as I continued flying home. “YAHOO!”

When I finally got home, I saw that my parents we downstairs, but I paid them no mind. As I basically skipped to my room, I couldn’t stop the smile on my face. Once inside my room, all I could think about was Videl.

Today’s reading from the ancient books of Proverbs and Psalms

for june 16 of 2023 with Proverbs 16 and Psalm 16, accompanied by Psalm 89 for the 89th day of Astronomical Spring, and Psalm 17 for day 167 of the year (with the consummate book of 150 Psalms in its 2nd revolution this year)

[Proverbs 16]

People go about making their plans,

but the Eternal has the final word.

Even when you think you have good intentions,

He knows your real motives.

Whatever you do, do it as service to Him,

and He will guarantee your success.

The Eternal made everything for a reason.

Even wrongdoers fit in His plans; troubled times await them.

He abhors arrogant people.

Make no mistake about it! They will be punished!

The penalty of sin is removed by love and loyalty;

and by devotion to the Eternal, evil is avoided.

When people make good choices, He is pleased;

He even causes their enemies to live peacefully near them.

Better to have little and stand for what is right

than to become rich by doing what is wrong.

People do their best making plans for their lives,

but the Eternal guides each step.

The king makes a decision under divine inspiration,

but he must never render an unfair judgment.

The Eternal requires that business be conducted honestly;

He wants fairness in all your dealings.

When kings commit evil, it is despicable,

because their thrones should be built on justice.

Kings admire those who tell the truth;

they adore those who set the record straight.

A king’s rage signals that people will die,

but whoever is wise will pacify him.

If a king is smiling brightly, life will be granted;

his favor is like a cloud swelled with the first spring rain.

How much better it is to receive wisdom than the riches of gold

and to gain understanding over some silver prize!

The highway of the just bypasses evil;

those who watch where they’re going protect their lives from sin.

Pride precedes destruction;

an arrogant spirit gives way to a nasty fall.

It is better to be humble and live among the poor,

than to divide up stolen property with the proud.

Those devoted to instruction will prosper in goodness;

those who trust in the Eternal will experience His favor.

The wise at heart have a reputation for understanding;

pleasant words make the lips more persuasive.

Understanding for those who have it is a spring of life,

but it is pointless to try and instruct a fool.

From a wise heart flow careful words;

wise words make the lips more persuasive.

Pleasant words are like a honeycomb:

they drip sweet food for life and bring health to the body.

Before every person lies a road that seems to be right,

but at the end of that road death and destruction wait.

People work to stay alive,

pressed daily by their need to eat.

Good-for-nothings conjure up evil ideas;

their conversations fuel destructive fires.

Perverse people stir up contention;

gossip makes best friends into enemies.

Violent people try to recruit their neighbors,

wanting to lead them down the vile path of evil they have chosen.

Body language can expose a person’s intentions:

whoever winks the eye is planning perversity;

whoever purses his lips is intent on evil.

Gray hair is a crown of honor,

earned by living the right kind of life.

It is better to be a patient man than a mighty warrior,

better to be someone who controls his temper than someone who conquers a city.

We may try to control the roll of the dice,

but actually, the Eternal decides what they will determine.

The Book of Proverbs, Chapter 16 (The Voice)

[Psalm 16]

A prayer of David.

Protect me, God, for the only safety I know is found in the moments I seek You.

I told You, Eternal One, “You are my Lord,

for the only good I know in this world is found in You alone.”

The beauty of faith-filled people encompasses me.

They are true, and my heart is thrilled beyond measure.

All the while the despair of many,

who abandoned Your goodness for the empty promises of false gods, increases day by day.

I refuse to pour out blood offerings,

to utter their names from my lips.

You, Eternal One, are my sustenance and my life-giving cup.

In that cup, You hold my future and my eternal riches.

My home is surrounded in beauty;

You have gifted me with abundance and a rich legacy.

I will bless the Eternal, whose wise teaching orchestrates my days

and centers my mind at night.

He is ever present with me;

at all times He goes before me.

I will not live in fear or abandon my calling

because He stands at my right hand.

This is a good life—my heart is glad, my soul is full of joy,

and my body is at rest.

Who could want for more?

You will not abandon me to experience death and the grave

or leave me to rot alone.

Instead, You direct me on the path that leads to a beautiful life.

As I walk with You, the pleasures are never-ending,

and I know true joy and contentment.

The Book of Psalms, Poem 16 (The Voice)

[Psalm 89]

A contemplative song of Ethan the Ezrahite.

I will sing of Your unfailing love, Eternal One, forever.

I will speak of Your faithfulness to all generations.

I will tell how Your unfailing love will always stand strong;

and how Your faithfulness is established in the heavens above.

You said, “I have made a covenant with My chosen one.

I made My servant, David, this promise:

‘I will establish your dynasty

so that you and your descendants will always be secure.

Your rule will continue for generations to come.’”

Let the heavens join in praising the wonderful works of the Eternal.

The holy ones have gathered, singing of Your faithfulness.

For there is no one above who compares to the Eternal,

not one of heaven’s creatures is like Him in the least.

In the council of holy ones, God is lifted high and feared;

His presence overwhelms all who are near Him.

O Eternal God, Commander of heaven’s armies,

who is mighty like You?

You are completely faithful; that’s why we trust You.

The ocean waters are at Your command.

When violent waves rise up, You still them.

You defeated Rahab, that ancient monster of chaos,

and left it lifeless.

You routed Your enemies and scattered them by Your great arm of power.

Everything in the sky above and the earth below are Yours.

The world and all it contains are Yours, for You created them all.

Everything was created by You—the north, the south—

the mountains of Tabor and Hermon echo joyously the song of Your name.

Your arm is strong.

Your grip is powerful.

Your right hand is raised up high.

Your rule is rooted deeply in justice and righteousness—

unfailing love and truth lead from the way ahead of You.

How happy are those who have learned how to praise You;

those who journey through life by the light of Your face.

Every hour of the day, they rejoice at the sound of Your name.

Long ago You spoke through a vision to Your faithful followers, saying,

“I have given help to a warrior;

I have chosen a hero from among My people.

I have found David, My servant.

With My holy oil, I have anointed him king.

My strong hand will stay with him and sustain him, regardless of trial or foe.

My mighty arm will be his strength and shield.

The deceit of his enemies will not outwit him.

The wicked will not defeat him.

I will pound his enemies right in front of him.

I will strike down all those who hate him.

My faithfulness and unfailing love will never leave him;

through My name, strength and power will be his.

I will extend his rule over the oceans,

his right hand will control the rivers.

He will cry out to Me, ‘You are my Father,

my God, and the Rock of my salvation!’

I will make him My firstborn;

no earthly king shall be greater.

My unfailing love will always be with him, protecting him;

My covenant with him will never be broken.

I will ensure his family’s future forever;

his dynasty will last as long as the heavens.

If his children turn away from Me and forsake My law,

if they refuse to walk according to My judgments,

If they disobey My instructions

and ignore My commandments,

Then I will use the rod to punish their sins

and stripes to deal with their iniquity.

And yet My unfailing love of him will remain steadfast and strong.

I will not be unfaithful to My promise.

I will not violate My covenant,

nor will I alter even one word of what My lips have spoken.

These words I have pledged in My holiness once and for all,

and I will not lie to David.

As long as the sun lights the day before Me, his descendants will continue to rule.

His kingdom will last forever.

His dynasty will stand firm for all time like the moon,

the faithful witness that stands watch in the night sky.”

But what now? You have turned Your back and walked away!

Your full fury burns against Your anointed king.

You made a covenant with Your servant, then renounced it,

casting his sacred crown into the dust.

You have broken down the walls that protected Your servant;

his defenses are reduced to a pile of rubble.

Strangers now plunder all that he has left;

he has become a laughingstock among his neighbors.

You have made his adversaries strong.

His enemies celebrate their victory.

You have dulled the blade of his sword,

and You have not helped him stand strong in the battle.

You have brought his days of splendor to an abrupt end;

You have toppled his throne;

it sits in the dust.

You have cut short the days of his youth

and have covered him with shame and despair.

How long must we endure, O Eternal One?

Will You hide Yourself forever?

How long will Your wrath burn like fire?

Remember my days are numbered.

Have You created the children of Adam to live futile lives?

Death waits at the gate; who can escape and live?

Does the grave hold exceptions for any of us?

Who can deliver us from the power of the grave?

O Lord, where is the unfailing love You showed in times past?

And where is the proof of Your faithfulness to David?

Remember how Your servants are ridiculed, O Lord;

how I carry within me the insults of so many peoples.

Your enemies are mocking me, O Eternal One,

mocking every step Your anointed one made.

The Book of Psalms, Poem 89 (The Voice)

A note from The Voice translation:

Psalm 89 begins on a note of praise and ends with a lament. The heart of this psalm recalls God’s choice of David as king and God’s covenant with him to establish an eternal dynasty (2 Samuel 7).

Listen, O Eternal One, to my cry for justice.
