Look at the effort by these VA’s in incorporating an Italian dialect/Mario’s accent.

What bothers me about Chris Pratt as Mario is that there is no effort from his part from what we have seen so far and it’s honestly what all of us expected. It’s just Chris Pratt voicing himself. With that knowledge, I now understand why he was perfect for A Lego Movie. His character is supposed to be the most boring, blandest, not worth a second glance ass character possible and they got that with Chris Pratt.

I mean, he wasn’t technically wrong but what a way to spin it. You know what I thought when I first heard his Mario? How the fuck did he white wash an already white character?

Where’s the accent? If he wasn’t going to do the Italian accent, why not the New York accent from The Super Mario Bros Show?

He is just flattening the media and making it unplaceable american.

UPDATE:

After seeing the new trailer, I now understand why Chris Pratt’s acting works for Illumination’s Mario.

Illumination essentially made their Mario as Andy from Parks and Rec, Peter Quill from GOTG, and as Emmett from A Lego Movie. Illumination’s Mario is literally an accident prone clumsy man child from the looks of the second trailer. A character Chris Pratt has been playing over and over.

Also, now that I’ve heard more of Pratt’s Mario and know what kind of character Illumination’s Mario is supposed to be, I don’t have as big of an issue with it as I did before. That trailer is amazing.

Still upset that they basically rewrote Mario as a clumsy bumpkin.

I'm so unreasonably emotional about how much the new people care about Gegg. Especially the French. They call him cute and smart and sweet. Multiple of them asked multiple times if he had any armor or protections. Offering him diamonds and listening to what he says. Baghera Jumped in front a Gun for him (so did ElQ, but i don't trust his intentions are pure). It's so genuinely nice to see after Gegg be treated like garbage by the English speakers (Calling him annoying, ugly, telling him to basically go kill himself). there's so many ~rules~ around fancy dinners, the courses, the silver you use, names for foods you might never have heard, and i imagine its far worse in orlais, where everything is over the top and meant to be seen and judged.

and josephine and leliana can navigate that fine, and depending on the inquisitor (especially trevelyans), i imagine they can handle themselves.

which leaves the last member of the leadership quartet, who spent the first 13 years of his life eating rural ferelden fare and then spent the next 16-17 years likely eating in mess halls between duties.

and how do you then represent the inquisition in a world where you are the outsider and everything about the world you are stepping foot in is meant to keep you and other commoners out? when this world is the one that plays with the lives of commoners like toys?

watching skittybitty's totk video for the 27864269th time and i STILL get jumpscared by the english voices, anytime anyone ever opens their mouth it just sounds like they took some random person they caught on the street to monotonely voice a line in one take, and sometimes one of them rly likes to pretend their are doing a voice but it just sounds like a little child imitating their granpa or someone trying to overact to their toddler, its especially sad for ganondorf, its hard to hear any of them for me but gan i start laughing and have to skip it bc thats NOT gan, thats me doing my worst evil guy impression, or zelda, thats not zelda talkign thats me doing a sarcastic uwu lil princess voice

to be clear, i have nothing agaisnt the people voicing them and i know people like the guy doing the gan voice but none of them fit at all and none feel like they are actually coming from the character, much more so you muting your TV and talking over the people on screen making shit up as you go for shits and giggles, i dont know what happened here, why are these SO bad, i listen to plenty of movies and games and whatnot in english and i only ever had a similar problem with the english voices of ghibli movies -though that could be bc im jsut so used to the german ones, which are fantastic- or maybe an extremely old game that was just weird on its own even

i take no pride in hating the voices, espeically knowing how badly voice actors are treated and often replaced with some shitty celebtrity, but i truly do not get why they are so bad, the voices themselves never rly fit, and even if it would be passable, they are all speaking in a way where it either sounds like they are some guy sitting next to you reading a line for the first time or overemphasizing so much it sounds like someone playing pretend with toddlers

and its not in an indie game where the devs did their best to voice people themselves bc they didnt have the money, this is nintendo, how is it still like that, bc even the ones returning from botw, are STILL just as bad, i dont know if that can all be the fault of the actors, its so weird to me

and it makes it even harder for me to believe that people take this game as seriously as they do or as emotionally affecting bc a, if not THE, biggest part of the fandom is made up of english speakers who would probably never even think about trying a different language

anyone who had been paying attention to the PSU foxes before kevin day joined the line would know that dan wilds and renee walker had fought tooth and nail to get that 1 & 2; it meant hard-won respect and bloody hands shaking in solidarity. but the 2 was only ever a number to renee; she knows that it doesn't matter what number she wears, she's still Renee Walker underneath. kevin day doesn't seem to understand that yet, and the boy has been through enough change. she will let him keep this, let him hold onto the smokescreen until he doesn't need it anymore (hello, deadliest piece on the board).

i wonder if renee told jean that when they texted, warming up and getting to know each other. i wonder if he knew he was safe with her because of how she had treated kevin. if he knew she would save him, or didn't even let himself imagine that he could deserve the same treatment kevin got. 1, 2, 3. i don't know if the number had as much of an impact on jean, but i do know he wouldn't have been able to recover half as well if he'd been allowed to keep 3.

he gets a new number that has a different meaning, because the trojans assign their numbers by position played. 29 means "backliner", not "perfect court". if he can shed the 3, the brand on his cheekbone doesn't feel so much like a life sentence. if jean moreau can be 29 instead of 3, he can be a trojan and not a raven. maybe he deserves softness and warmth, maybe he didn't deserve cruelty and pain.

29 is is freedom and 2+9(jeremy) is his future, but 2&9 kept him alive to see it!!!!
