I’ve seen people side eye sctir because of the confinement/possessiveness/taking Yoojin’s right to decide for himself but I feel like the story has repeatedly made a point that it’s Yoojin who isn’t normal. Song Taewon’s arc itself is for this purpose. Yoojin is self-destructive and insecure, struggling to see his own worth. He sees himself as someone selfish and unworthy, so he is trying to stand with beings who are on the level of demigods. He is driven by guilt, and only Yoohyun understands this (and later Sung Hyunje) because it was him who “made” Yoojin like this. Naturally, this doesn’t mean Yoohyun is right either. He is going about it the wrong way. But when you’re a fire incarnate who does not process human perceptions the same way, forcing yourself to live against your nature, that is pretty understandable. Yoohyun cannot provide the kind of help Yoojin needs.

But Sung Hyunje can. Not only can he but he has Yoojin’s trust. Yoojin believes Hyunje when he says Yoojin has done well to raise his brother. Yoojin feels empowered and full of worth around Hyunje.
