Friendly reminder that people can do whatever the fuck they want with fictional characters because they are, in fact, fictional, which means they are not real.

We're all basically playing with dolls. And if someone's playing with them in a way you don't like? You can this simple and easy thing called blocking them. Or blocking a tag. There is no need to whine and cry about how xyz people are "ruining" a fandom for a ship or how a fandom has a "problem" of having xyz. Like. C'mon now.

I think in recent years there's been a big issue arising in fandoms since corporations started sanitizing the internet for more ad revenue: instead of letting people have harmless fun playing with dolls, people are now instead choosing to try and oust those people from playing entirely due to it not being "morally correct".

And that is, quite frankly, stupid. Imagine going up to a horror novelist and saying they shouldn't write their novels bc it contains morally dark/gray/bad things.

Imagine saying someone shouldn't play a video game and should feel gross playing it bc it has a bunch of dark/taboo topics.

Imagine going up to someone exploring dark/taboo materials in safe, creative ways and saying they should feel disgusted for that.

That sounds dumb, yeah? That sound ludicrous, yeah?

Then why are we attacking other people for morally dark/taboo ships, hcs, and content in their own works? Why are we calling it a "waste of potential"? Why are we calling it gross and bad when it isn't hurting anyone?

Listen to me. We have GOT to relearn to be harmlessly uncomfortable. We have GOT to relearn tolerance for things we do not like. People shipping or having hcs of xyz is not ruining fandoms. The purity culture of not letting people have fun in their own corners is.

Saw someone complaining about the “fortnite-ification” of Dragon Age cause the humor was inappropriate for dark fantasy in the tags as if this isn’t the game with “swooping is bad” and “think of the mayhem” and nugs with wings on catapults.

Like seriously in the first game there was a random encounter where Ma and Pa Kent discover SUPERMAN. This game has always been rife with silly references and corny banter sit down.

Y'all seriously need to stay out of relationships if you think what Rook is doing is in any way shape or form love and not blind toxic obsession. His dream Vil has no personality other than blind adoration of Neige. Even his uniform isn't customized at all. He would lay his life down for Neige and that is the only thing that matters about him. Rook's ideal version of Vil is one who isn't a person but just an accessory to another being he doesn't see as a person either. It is incredibly toxic and unhealthy and I wish y'all realized that.

And Vil calling himself ugly and disgusting for having negative feelings and intrusive thoughts – an idea that Rook planted into his head – is just as toxic. Feeling bad about a genuine injustice committed against you isn't ugly and isn't disgusting and it doesn't define you as a person. Vil shouldn't be calling himself that just because Rook refuses to see him as a person instead of a perfect ideal that gets "sullied" by having negative emotions.

We need to stop this man. If that means making a pragmatic move and voting for someone you detest on some issues but who is not going to assign humans serial numbers and round them up into detention camps bloodily---fucking pinch your nose and do it.

Answering those two together cause is usually the 'mean lesbian aoi' crew that does this. They give me the same "i don't give a fuck about canon I'll just live in my fantasy and be disrespectful to everyone that doesn't like my delusions" vibes.
