I woke up from a nap and was bored. Anyways, here's a little yap session about why I'm a proshipper in case anybody was curious.

Remember - if you know this is going to make you mad, don't read it. Please save not just your sanity, but mine as well

I got into fandom at a young age. This is because one day while my mom was setting up her studio, my dad mentioned to me that he used to watch Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z as a child. While I never watched DBZ (and I don't plan to), I did read the manga for SM. Through this, I got into anime, and after learning about Love Live, I got into fandom.

I was really young at the time, so young that I wasn't really allowed to explore many fandom spaces. You know what I had? Youtube - and I took advantage of it to hell and back. Then, in 2019, i got into Danganronpa, which was where everything began to spiral.

I downloaded tiktok, and I obviously wanted to interact with like minded people. Eventually, 2020 rolled around, and with that, covid. Fandom became something larger in my life, something I turned to in order to cure my boredom. Naturally, I learned about proshippers, and I was taught they were bad. Unmentioned, but by this point I was 11, and little 11 year old me was aware that incest and pedophilia are bad. I thought proshippers, therefore, were also bad and would cause harm. It was something I blindly accepted for years, because if it's bad in real life, it must be in fiction as well. I happened to forget something crucial about my childhood, however - I loved horror.

This really hit me one random day at lunch (second time something that determined who I am as a person happened at school lunch, which is an odd coincidence) in eighth grade. If I'm a huge fan of horror, but I'm still disgusted by real acts of murder, why are proshippers any different? Despite my hatred for proshippers, I made the decision a few months later to look at proship tumblr. I'd go back, day after day, and I eventually found out that I got it all wrong. Proshipping was something that I actually agreed with! Mind your own business? Censorship isn't acceptable? Fiction ≠ reality on a 1:1 basis? The more I looked, the more I thought, and the more it made sense to me.

I eventually created this blog, and I don't regret it. In an odd way, proshipping has made me happier, and it's led me to realize how miserable fandom nowadays truly is. I admit, I'm still learning and coming up with my own opinions, some opinions that may be quite controversial for the proship community; but even then, I'm still happy that I found such a loving and positive community, filled with people who are unapologetically themselves.

(that's just proshipping. comshipping is another story)

I'm really starting to hate the proship community. I am a proshipper. I was raised as one. My mother was in fandom. She taught me to ship and let ship. I literally grew up listening to her excitedly talk to her friends about mpreg.

And maybe I'm in the wrong corner of the proship fandoms.

But holy fuck what I am seeing of the community is annoying. All they do is bitch bitch bitch about antis.

That's all I see. There's no actual positive proshipping discussion. Nothing that adds any value to the analysis of what the content of these ships are.

It's always just screenshots of some anti nonsense that adds fuel to the fire.

It's giving energy to a conservative subset of fandom. It's feeding the trolls.

I'm so sick and tired of both sides but at this point the proshippers are just as bad as the antis.

You're all a bunch of goddamn children. Please just shut the fuck up.

Stop screenshotting the antis.

Stop responding to their anons.

Stop calling them out.

Stop acknowledging their existence.

This insistence on fighting for who has the biggest most morally superior dick has eroded any real and meaningful conversations. And honestly? That means the antis are winning. They're succeeding in their mission to tear the proshippers apart.

Literally one of the single best things you can do is block antis. There is literally no scenario for it in which you lose.

They do not get to see any of your content. It protect you AND them, because why would they want to see your content unless they're intending to deliberately expose themselves in order to cry wolf or attack you?

You can't see their content. You get your tags and pages full of lovely anti-free content.

They get to sit in their own little cesspit full of other antis and content they're comfortable with. They only get to talk to other antis and have their content seen by other antis.

With the new year officially being here, I think it's important that I say something.

To whoever is reading this - I'm proud of you. This could've been the best or worst year of your life. You could've moved on from something terrible or fallen deeper. You could have changed your entire mindset. The you exactly a year ago could be overjoyed or absolutely horrified at how your life has gone. No matter what, I'm proud.

You did what you had to in order to survive. Sometimes, we have to be alive before we can try to live.

Even if you wanted to give up, even if you were like me and you did give up. Maybe that attempt made it to the hospital, maybe you relapsed into a terrible coping mechanism. It doesn't matter, because that doesn't change the fact that you're still here and continuing another day. I know firsthand how hard that can be sometimes.

The new year brings so much positive energy into our lives. Whether you believe in that or not, try to remember that you have an entire lifetime to accomplish everything, not just a year. Figure out where you are, and go from there. Whether 2024 was amazing or not, whether the year started good for you or not, you have time. You're alive, and you made it; and if that's not something to be proud of, then I don't know what is.
