AntiReset (Taiwan Fri Viki/Gaga) ep 10 fin - Again there was overuse of previous footage and maudlin navel-gazing grief over something we knew was going to happen. So I didn’t really feel much emotional connection to the drama. 7 year time gap.? t was a cute reunion but the moral quandary never really got resolved. I don’t know how to rate this, I’m not sure I will ever watch it again, so that is a big mark against it.

There’s nothing objectively wrong with this BL except how upsetting it is because of the foundational pygmalion story - grown man falls in love with an android who is basically both his slave and, by maturity level, a child. Yet that premise is crystal clear from the get go, so we watch it eyes open. The actors are cute, the romance sweet, the physical chemistry on point (of course, it’s Taiwan) and yet I was left ultimately unsettled by the concept, content, and plot. 7/10

4/11 Gray Shelter AKA Gray Currents (Korea ????) 4 eps - SooHyuk is only just surviving and reunites with YoonDae, an old friend. They end up living together. One of the leads is played by Choco of Choco Milk Shake.

4/18 At 25:00, in Alaska AKA 25 Ji, Akasaka de (Japan Gaga - may not be global) 10 eps - Yuki lands his first starring role in a BL drama alongside superstar Asami (previously his senior at uni). Said superstar suggests they form a sham relationship until filming concludes. As they actually begin to fall in love, the spotlight begins to burn.

Seriously? You're killing me with these titles, boys.

4/26 My Stand-In (Thai iQIYI) 12 eps - adaptation of Chinese novel "Professional Body Double" by Shui Qiang Cheng. Stars Up (Lovely Writer) and Poom (Bake Me Please) directed by the same team as KP (not a recommendation IMHO - my biggest criticism of that show was the clashing directing styles). This one looks well complicated, lemme try: Joe is a stuntman for famous actor Tong. Joe falls in love with Ming but Ming sees Joe as nothing more than a Tong-replacement. After learning this horrible truth, Joe dies. Joe then wakes up in the body of another man also named Joe. He manages to rebuild the same life as before—with the same people eventually re-meeting Ming. Ming wants Joe back but Joe doesn't understand why. But Ming seems to know what's going on and wants to give him some kind of explanation.

I'm exhausted just trying to describe the plot.

When you agreed to accompany your boyfriend to a prestigious awards ceremony, you had no intention of sucking him off in the venue’s bathroom. The knock Charles used to long for comes just after two in the morning. He’s already in bed and contemplates ignoring the man he knows he’ll find, but his body urges him to slip from the covers and open the door.

Charles notices Carlos’ shirt first—hanging off his body, buttons undone to his navel, exposing a hard expanse of tan skin. His dark chest hair. Saliva pools under Charles’ tongue, and he curses under his breath. It looks like it was wrenched open by someone else. Someone who took everything from him this season. His fingers tighten on the door handle. He should turn him away. He should go back to bed. Alone. 

“Come on, Charles,” Carlos says, accent dripping in sultry tones. 

Charles takes in his former teammate’s face. He’s still standing there, large brown eyes looking even bigger than usual, dark hair tousled, full lips swollen. Kiss-bitten. He doesn’t even try to hide it anymore. A flash of white teeth. A ghost of a smile they used to share. 

Charles is weak and Carlos knows it. Knows he’ll step aside. His body moves on autopilot, allowing the man waiting outside to step over the threshold. Carlos grabs his waist and pulls him against his body as the hotel door closes with a deafening click. 

Charles stiffens when he smells Lando’s cologne on his collar. He wonders how Carlos left him. Asleep? Naked? Did he fuck him raw? Leave him messy? His eyes prickle. Fuck. He’s cried enough today—he doesn’t have any more tears. 

“Mon amour,” Carlos murmurs. The French sounds bitter and stilted, and Charles almost gags when his arms wrap around his back, trapping him. He’s already hard when his lips trace along Charles’ jaw. 

It doesn’t turn him on like it did before, and Charles pushes him away.  

“You should go,” he says, training his eyes on the carpet between Carlos’ shoes. They’re new Pumas. Red with gold stitching. A goodbye gift from his team. Charles can’t help but feel relief at the thought of next season. The absence of him.

“But I just got here,” Carlos protests.

Charles shakes his head. “You fucked him, and now you’re in my room, hoping for me?” 

Carlos’ mouth sets in a tight line. “It’s not like that.” 

Charles laughs, but it sounds like a sob. He doesn’t believe him anymore, doesn’t want to look at him or touch him, and it’s killing him. A year ago, they were fucking in his flat, watching telenovelas with French subtitles, feeding each other pasta. And now—it’s so far from how they used to be. How he used to feel about this man.  

“Please, I can make you feel better. You know I can.” 

Carlos steps forward again, fingers coming to rest around Charles’ neck, massaging the base, urging him to breathe. It’s familiar. Maybe he should just give in. Fuck his dignity—he lost it on the track today. 

Charles closes his eyes. Yes, please, he wants to say.

“That was a long time ago,” he says instead, squaring his expression before finally meeting Carlos’ gaze. He catches a flicker of pain in those dark pupils, but it’s gone before he can be sure.

“Once more then. For old time’s sake,” Carlos says. 

Charles’ vision blurs. One last time. He flinches but doesn’t pull away, fingers clenching at Carlos’ shirt. He should push him back, but he can’t. He’s never been good at drawing boundaries and sticking to them.

 Carlos kisses his temple, his cheek, his jaw. 

It’s supposed to be tender, Charles thinks. It feels like gunshots. He tilts his head anyway, mouth parting. He wishes he was stronger than his own lust. 

Carlos’ mouth is soft, his lips warm and pliant, and Charles can’t stop the shaky gasp wrenched from his throat when he tastes bitter salt and old champagne on his tongue. Remnants of his celebration with another.

He doesn’t resist as Carlos leads him to bed and peels his clothes off. Charles hands him the lube. He knows how this will end, but he continues to steer them toward it.

Carlos opens him slowly, and Charles wishes he would be rougher, meaner. He wants to fucking hate it.

“Did you use a condom?” With him tonight. It’s unspoken, but Carlos’ eyes flicker with recognition.  

“Of course,” he says.  

The admission makes Charles want to vomit, but he pushes aside the implication and rolls onto his back, legs spreading to make space. Carlos grips the back of his thighs, and Charles cries out when he slides home. 

“It’s okay. You’re okay,” Carlos murmurs, cupping his hips, thrusting deep. 

It feels good, and Charles despises the pleasure shooting down his spine. Carlos’ pace quickens as he drills his spot over and over. He knows his body well enough to stroke the places that drive him crazy. God, Charles wishes it hurt. He wishes it was awful. He’s not going to last long. 

“Fuck,” he says, digging his nails into Carlos’ ribcage. 

Carlos gasps in pain. 

Good, Charles thinks. I want to hurt you.  

“I know,” Carlos says

Jesus, did he say that out loud? He doesn’t have time to ask before he’s coming. Carlos follows suit. It’s much too fast for a pity fuck. His resentment returns, burning angrily in his gut. 

“I lo—” 

“No,” Charles cuts in, roughly shoving him away. He feels empty and wet. His body stutters from the loss. There would be no cuddling. No soft nothings. This was just a final transaction. 

“Charles—”

“I do not want to hear it. You got what you wanted. Leave me.” 

Carlos closes his mouth and does as he’s told. The severity in his tone must have done it. He buttons his shirt, properly this time, and pulls on his jeans. He gives him one more long glance before heading to the door. 

He pauses there in the frame. Charles watches his shoulders and back expand as he breathes. Broad and flowing into a tapered waist. He had always liked that about him.

Fuck. Is he going to say it? After everything? Is he going to selfishly ruin him for anyone else?

Carlos doesn’t. The handle turns, and then he’s gone. 

This time, Charles notes, he doesn’t look back.

hawkeye continues to just NOT pull without trapper here. the nurses are fully dismissing or ignoring his efforts, and honestly is he even trying that hard?? have we seen him get even one date?

i re-watched the pilot and the desk ep (for frank/margaret reasons DON'T JUDGE ME), and hawkeye and trapper LITERALLY end the pilot handcuffed together, and in the next episode talk about sharing a nurse. how am i supposed to take this???

speaking of nurses, you know that little 🙄 you have to ignore in 2024 whenever the women on m*a*s*h get called honey and sweetheart and baby on the job (though tbh i worked on a construction site and an ad sales office in the 2010's and got the same treatment -- but in the modern day it's done ironically babe)

BUT when potter calls margaret "good girl" after he gets shot??? total opposite feeling. i literally had to pause and take a moment. he's her dad now.

also when he tucks radar in???? everyone's dad actually

in loving memory of radar's other dad though, two important points:

how proud would henry have been of drunk & disorderly radar??

and henry's "i've always wondered if i might be radar's dad" bit is genuinely 900% funnier now that we know radar's mom looks EXACTLY like him.

i don't think i have ever circled back to talk about klinger, who became so so so awesome

it's so funny that in klinger's very first appearance and 30 times since then, he has been told straight up that wearing women's clothes will never work to get him out of the army. there's no explanation for his commitment to this particular form of passive resistance except that he genuinely loves it

the swamp rats built a still and klinger got a sewing machine and learned a craft. he's so good at it!! his looks are 🔥

i feel uncomfortable when i see him in fatigues tbh. it happened a few times in this disc and i would like it to Stop actually

2024 Election Special! 4 Election Themed Episodes Reviewed! (Comission for WeirdKev27)

Hello all you happy people! It's election day when this comes out and i'm okay. I'm fine... honest

Yup not the least bit worried that against all odds and increasingly deranged behavior a petty dictator is going to win the election, deport god knows how many innocent people, destroy trans rights and swallow democracy whole yup yup i'm... i'm.. fine. But I could use a break and had the idea with Kev to do a big election specail. And we'll be doing this every two years.. i'd keep it to four and skip midterms but in deciding what I was going to review we found a LOT. Election Episodes are some of the funnest episodes on tv and a popular as hell theme that can be done both to tie into a presidetnal election that year or just for funsies and can be done on so many levels. They can be a big subplot, as many a sitcom do, or in these cases an excuse for fun shenanigans and political satire. THey also provide a nice break.

So for your pleasure we have four episodes from the 90's that show both how politics have changed.. and how they somehow really, truly, depressingly haven't and need to. It'll be both a depresing look at how we got in the position where one of our options is a destructive tyrant, and a fun break from that possible nightmare scenario that I deeply hope dosen't happen and instead we'll all be celebrating Kamala's victory. So join me under the cut as I look at some classic cartoons and try not to get too depresed.

A Goof of the People (Goof Troop, Season 1 Episode 37) Good old episode 37.. in a row. I haven't watched a ton of Goof Troop but I like what i've seen and frankly when Kev told me what this episode was about after watching it.. I HAD to review it at some point. Trust me folks this one is bonkers in the conkers and it is glorious.

So right away a local factor from Slimeco is putting out enough polution to kill Goofy's garden and blacken the sky. When prompted by max to go give these fellas a talking to he meets the CEO , a sludge monster, figuratively and literally, Fenton Sludge who is livid Goofy would suggest he'd loose 3 cents of profit and throws him out.

The saddest part is the part about a ceo not doing the right thing because it'd cost pennies is entirely accurat... as is that most CEO's these days are captain planet villians. Even the ones in favor of the environment make threatning tweets abou ta presidenttial canditate or creepy overtures to someone already in a relationship under the misguided assumption endorsing a candiate is a come on.

So Max suggests his dad run for mayor. And I do love Max's position as hype man this episode: he can't do anything as a kid.. but he can convince someone he can and I love the faith he has in his dad: Goofy may fuck up just getting out of bed in the morning, but he's an honest kind guy who does the right thing and Max knows that and respects it.

So goofy runs for mayor and as a result we get a classic how to short, as he reads a book on it. Naturally with Corey Burton, who has kept the role of the how to narrator to this day, doing the narration. I forgot he did this as far back as goof troop but i'm greatful. Shaking hands, kissing babies insue. Goofy dosen't seem to get to the chapters on graft, dancing a little sidestep, or crushing your enemies and see them driven before you. He gets enough to be a compitent politican though.

Pete finds out about this and laughs it off.. till he realizes Goofy's anti polution platform is popular, and thus he can steal it and get a limo and wear hawiaan shirts and fancy top hats. He'd be a god I say A GOD.

Pete's Family isn't convinced since Pete removes smog regulators from his cars for no paticular reason, says recycling is for suckers and assinated archduke ferdinand. They buy his blantant lies about having decided to change and the race is on: Goofy VS Pete. Despite blatantly reading off a script Pete starts to gain traction, but Goofy's still ahead.

Sludge is angry and I love how over the top they play him: They lack subtley in thier anti green aseop but it's refeshing to see a ceo played as such a tounge in cheek hammy nightmare. His solution is bribes but Goofy is too clean. So he decides to lean on pete as pete just has that "takes bribes gladly" energy about him, which proper research backs up. I love the scene of Pete taking the bribes too, putting them in his pants and Sludge just telling him to have at it. Jim Cummings gets to have a LOT of fun this episode and makes me want to watch more episodes to see more of pete's antics on his performance alone.

So pete does a full 180, baby, and even does a hackneed political stunt diving into a lake to show it's toxin free and proven wrong. Oh if every republican doing a stupid stunt actually paid conseuqences for it. Goofy is still winning so Sludge goes with plan D: Frame him. If your curious plan A was do nothing and hop ehe looses, plan B was pete, and Plan C was : Find some dirt on him. But Goofy dosen'tk now what a prostitute is though i'm sure he'd be a lovely customer. Pay extra, complinment his escort, bring his own condoms, good at sex. I mean look at goofy. Goofy fucks. You know it, I know it, we all know this as a fact but no one ever talks about it and it's about time someone talked about it again.

So Sludge hides toxic waste in goofy's garage and Goofy has no idea what ot do. Thankfully sludge left a literal slime train and Max encourages goofy to go kick his ass. Sludge is ready to throw hands, only for a sludge monster to rise out of the barrels in goofy's garage, go to the factory and call him dada. Then goofy kills this innocent child with a jar of clean air he kept since he was a lad that was set up later but I didn't mention till now because shut up. This also cures sludge who agrees to stop poluting and open a ballet school.

So Goofy wins and while it probably never comes up again, is mayor for the rest of the serie sand for eons. The time of God Emperoror Mayor Goofy is upon us LONG LLIVE THE FIGHTERS

So this episode is very over the top and really fun. While the commentary on polution is about as subtle as a brick

The politics bit is savier, showing how politicans will gladly sell out their morals for bribes. It's not subtle about that either but in a time when Batman the Animated Series couldn't have the mayor be corrupt because THINK OF THE CHILDREN, the fact they got away with this is notable and it's cahtartic as special intrests have only gotten more brazen these days. A sollid episode that delivers some peak pete, a goofy villian and a how to short. Good stuff

All the Duke's Men (The Critic, Season 2 Episode 8) Onto the most obscure show in this bunch and one of my faviorite Adult Cartoons the critic, a short lived cartoon by at the time former simpsons showrunners Al Jean and Mike Reiss, before Al Jean would be god emperor of simpsons for a few decades.

The Critic is a show I loved, covered before but was reluctant to cover this time as between my valentine's special a few years back and now John Lovitz sucks a whole lot more, having gone full alt right and appearing on fox news. That said I realized watching this that while Lovtiz is a major reason for the shows success, he's not the only person and i'ts a deservice to all the other talented people on this show, who wrote it and made it to stop loving it just because it's stars an ass. I can sidestep that for rosanne, I can sidestep it for the critic. Jon Lovitz can suck but he can't make this show suck.

That said whlie I love the Critic on rewatch for this All the DUke's men is a wobbly ass episode. I remembered it for it's best jokes and Duke's run for president, which is one of the funniest thing the show did. I never really reflected on the fact it's weighed down with dated refrences, from Michal Dukakais to Ross Perot who they made funny regardless of the refrence before

It dosen't help the first joke of the ep is a lazy mashup of Risky Buisness, Interview with a vampire and rain man.

The episode starts strong with a simple premise: Jay, our titular critic, helps his son Marty win class president. I don't mind this as a launch pad and i'ts great for gags, especailly from the principal of Marty's School, a delightfully cruel asshole with a distinctive laugh.

The problem is the subplot overstays it's welcome, lasting for about half the episode despite adding nothing to the duke plot, which is more intresting and coudl've used more time. It got plenty, but this is such a choice premise I know they coudl've done more. Instead we get "marty's class dosen't want to work". We get some great gags out of it: like Golden Age Simpsons, even a weak critic episode is packed with iconic jokes. Jay assures his son a real politican dosen't goof off and eat candy.. only to think of regan

Thankfully we get way more of Duke Phillips jay's box. Duke is an egotistical southern billionare played wonderfully by the late charles napier. And yup an idiot bilillonare running for president for his own ego and power sounds familiar, and the sad part is Duke would still be a better president. Though i'm sure he'd also be good friends with Hannibal Lecter. The diffrence is even being a movie character, Hannibal Lecter could plausably exist in the critic universe.

While it starts a tad slow once we get to act 2 the episode picks up and dosen't really leave off. The final gag of marty's subplot is great, with him only able ot mak ea horses ass ("Your watching fox, give us ten minutes and we'll give you an ass"), that gets set on fire and destroys cats ("And nothing of value was lost") and once i'ts gone we get some really good jokes. Highlights, since it's so rapid fire include Duke promisnig a group of zombies "the most human flesh since rosevelt", finding out Doris, jay's makeup lady is there to find a husband, Duke finding out the irish can vote and rethinking his poster

And using the EVIL EYE on a reporter. While jay is initially happya s Duke's speechwriter, figuring he can use his powers for good he gets uneasy. This is proven right as Duke's vp candiate is Jay's father Franklin.

Franklin.. is the best character on the show. Duke is an easy second.. but Franklin is primarly there to be a joke machine. Mildly senile, Franklin's primary role is to get into weird shenanigans, from mistaking a scarecrow for Wilson from home improvment, to trying to pull a missus doubtfire to see his children more often ("You can see them anytime" "Well who wants to do that?"), gluing everything to a celing, makign the worlds first fishmobabywhilrmagig, dancing his his underwear and destroying genuica in a hellicopter with a small child. And that's just a small list of great shit Franklin has done. This character is comedy gold and I wish we'd gotten more seasons or more spotlight episodes

I also wish he was in this one more as I forget HOW late he comes in, only having a few scenes. However as typical for Franklin he only needs a few to kill it: i'm not exagerating when I say EVERY second this character is on screen is funny. He rips off his hair because he "won't wear this toupee anymore".. only for jay to point out he dosen't wear a toupee "I will from now on. He follows up a fairly witty defense of his vp run by putting a stocking on his head and declaring "now let's rob that banks", pops into position for the debate with a cartoony sound effect, and declares "As the first black female head of the ku klux klan i'd like to say america stinks!". Capped by Duke's response "This might hurt us more than it helps us." This is all in the span of about two and a half minutes and it is delightful.

The episode resolves wobbly as Jay is reluctant to fire his own dad and again I wish we'd had more time with this subplot. If nothing else than to get more of Franklin and Duke interacting as this is the only time they do all series and even then they dont' share one conversation.

The ending though is one of the funneist scenes of the show. It starts with an apocalypse now parody that while a bit fat jokey, still makes me giggle and I quoted it from memory easily with kev

You know with all the musicals based on movies these days I really would watch an apocalypse now musical. But it's comedy gold. Duke interupting the show and wanting Jay to fire his dad Causes Duke to fire him from his campaign and go rogue. Duke's whole speech is great from his horrible polices (Regan: Reganomics is making a comeback)! to one of my faviorite jokes in the series

Duke then goes to put on some leather and go get spanked, having sunk his campaign. If only he ran in 2016. If only.

All the Duke's Men is uneven as hell, but still has some of the series best jokes. Plot wise it's a mess, but joke wise despite some very dated refrence humor, it fucking nails it enough times to make up for it. THere are better episodes, but this one's still worth a watch. And to my delight I found out the series is now on Tubi. Tubi: Thank god you exist you beautiful free channel. I'm not even being paid to shill for tubi i've just grown to love it more and more as more and more shows with no other home get added.

A Head in the Polls (Futurama Season 2, Episode 3)

Honestly i'm happy to get the chance to talk about futurama more. I haven't gotten to a ton and i'ts one of fox's best shows and revisiting this episode, i'd never noticed how good this one was. This episode is DENSE with jokes. Futrama was at peak simpsons level of joke density at this point and it's glorious: The characters are settled so they can just rattle them off, starting with a scary door segment brilliantly spoofing time enough at last (A Twilight Zone episode I never really liked as the ending feels overtly cruel when the character at the center had done nothing wrong, but I like as a parody as it points out he could just lead large pring.. thene sclates it with him loosing his eyes, then his hands, then just falling apart and oh hey look at that weird mirorr.

Fry and Bender are sidestepping the ongoing election. And fry's incredibly stupid opinons on voting have aged like fine wine in a cellar paired with a very nice cheese.

Yeah given the sheer mind boggling number of people who are planning not to vote to stick it to the man and protest the fact VP Harris probably won't put pressure on Isreal if elected. Which is bad, not going to sugarcoat it. We need to put pressure on her if she's elected to make sure she actually does something. I can't guarantee that will do anything but you know what I can guarantee won't do anything positive? Not voting.

Yeah I need to take a second to talk to all of you who are planning not to vote like fry here. Short version:

Long version: There are millions of immigrants and trans people whose lives will be worse and have their lives and futures taken away if Trump gets elected. All of our lives WILL be worse under Trump. That's not an assumption, that's not me castrosphsing that's fact: Trump is loosing it, which is remarkable given he was always unhinged but apparently there is depths to which he can sink, calling hannibal lecter a good friend, dancing for forty minutes for no reason, shouting about eating dogs in a way that geninely hurt the community his running mate made shit up about and refused to take back, and plotting ot murder his enemies and drink their blood. He hasn't SAID the latter yet but you know he's thinking it an dyou KNOW he's one rally away from saying it. Even if he wasn't he's a vile racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, xenophobic, selfish, hateful, greedy, sad, spiteful hateful asinine creature a pupil with no scruples who knew better than the teacher and I've taken as much from him as any man can. We barely survived 4 years of him and millions didn't thanks to his turning COVID into a culture war. We will ikely not surivive a second trump presdiency that will last until he somehow blows the earth itself up or chokes on a chicken bone. Whichever comes first.

It's fine to be disapointed, it's fine to not like who your voting for. But not voting only hurts YOU and tons of innocent people your saying you don't give a shit about. I learned this the hard way: I voted third party pissed Bernie got edged out by the democrats in favor of someone who while not NEARLY as bad as trump, is still an objectively terrible person.. .and while I don't blame myself soley for Trump winning, I do still regret voting jill stein.. not helped by the fact it's very clear she sucks at this point but I digress. Not voting just to make a flashy point does nothing to actaully make said point as not enough people are going to risk another trump regime to be marytrs. Or as a wise asshole once put it

You probably didn't expect a strong rebuttal of "just don't vote man" assholes but my patience with them has worn out and it was barely there to begin with.

Back to the future, where not tolerating Fry's apathy, Leela drags him to a political convention showing off all the diffrent parties. This is a buffet of great gags starting with the presidental candiates both being clones of the same guy.

It's a gag that's aged shockingly well considering the current state of the Republican Party

As it highlights an issue I HAVE had with the democratic party: It's refusal to actually go as far to the left as it's constiuncy wants, trying to always pull more towards the middle. So the joke hits and makes this the perfect accidental metaphor for what happened to politics: the bland figures who always populated it tried to treat politcs as it always had: one party get sin power, the other gets in power, things shift back and forth, instead of "One party wants democracy, the other party wants a dictatorship". As a result a dangerous asshole marches directly into office... through the wall after killing several people.

Backing up we get a lot of fun sight gags here: There's the bull space

Good to see Bullwinkle surivived this long. I thought he was dead. The green party

Just.. never not going to love this pun. And even the antisocialist party which I'm sure is just tucker carlson's head ranting in a soundrpoof booth for several hours.

We get a fun gag with the non conformist party, but my faviorite here is the NRA, the national raygun assiocation which wants to end wait times for mad scientests and whose rep has mutated anthrax "For duck huntin" just the way he says it.

So Fry is at least intrested in politics when the plot pivots, bu tI like this opening set piece as unlike most simpsons-style opening set pieces, it comes back around. For now Bender finds out thanks to an alluminum mine collapse that the owner plans to pave over and get on with his life, Bender's body is now woth a lot of money. So he sells it.

The concept.. is so dumb it works. From Bender telling a dog that pees on him "You just lost forty dollars" after offering to pay it not to whiz on him (The confedence sells it) to his little car he drives around in, they find a lott tof fun shit to do with Bender as a head. I paticuarlly love him insulting everyone then having to ask someone to carry him to the head useum. I also love the head musuem having big named stars, character actors and tv actors... though the gag of their section being run down is one of those things that reminds you "OH yeah it's the 90's when this was written".

Bender runs into NIxon who misses his flebitus ridden body and Bender talking to the presidents heads makes him miss his own. I love his nightmare of binary and his fear after tha t"I saw a two"

A nice little thing I noticed this go round is that there is in fact a two in bender's nightmare

So bender goes back to get his body regretting it. And while the turnaround is quick. i'm fine with it. Bender had a nightmare, wants his body back, but it's already been sold. Simple, gets us along, and gets us to my second faviorite gag of the episode

That smash cut is so amazing. As is the fact it's just.. there. THey just move on with the plot with fry naked for a scene. Bender soon finds out where his body went: Richard Nixon. And look while this episode is great as is, this last act is one long excuse to let Billy West ham it up to high heaven as Nixon. They clearly loved his goofy impression of the goblin in the pilot and just let him go off. We get Nixon singing feed your head ("I'm meeting you halfway you stupid hippies"), saying i'm not a crooks head, he had to say the thing, and sweating on the debate stage as he's asked if he'd still candy from a baby. And is reminded he's under truth o scope, something I badly wish we had. I also love it going insane when he says "I certainly wouldn't harm the child". I'd also be remiss if I didn't point out the third best joke of the episode:

And just to prove their on a fucking roll , the next part has the gang sneak in to see nixon, which leads to the best joke of the episode, and one of my faviorites of the series, one i've played on a loop after rediscovering it. Unlike the others i'm not going to use morbotron for this one as while the gag would still be funny enough you REALLY have to hear Billy West's Delivery

Every part of this gag is perfect: Nixon calling Bender a "drugged up communist", the fact Checkers is also somehow in a jar and looks adorable and just how fucking angry he sounds. He is so livid over the slightest yelp from his good boy.

So our heroes have no choice but to break into the watergate. And the gag about "They give you a discount if you've been here before".. makes no sense. Nixon didn't break into the watergate. He gave his most unhinged minon orders to deal with the election and it spiraled from there. I would love to see G Gordon Liddy's head one of these days by the by. The man is more of a paranoid asshole than nixon and that's saying something: over the course of behind the bastards 6 party I learned he set himself on fire (Something I wasn't sure if Gaslit made up or not but nope) repedetly, constantly brought up the nazis ANY time there was a plan to a horrifying and comical degree, and spent a good chunk of time romaing around his neightborhood beating up teenagers. Like Nixon the man is both one of history's greatest monsters and a cartoonish weirdo we can point and laugh at.

At any rate our heroes ALMOST pull it off.. almost then fry gets caught in some magic tentacles and we get the most iconic part of this episode.

This is going to be trumps victory speech if he wins swear to god. Unless we can get Sir Anthony Hopkins to play Hannibal Lecter again long enough to get him to resign. They are good friends. Maybe even Brian Cox, he's just as good and frankly I don't think Trump's observant enough to tell them apart. Plus with Brian Cox he's strong enough to just whap him on the back of a head with a candal stick and tell him to fuck off the second his back is turned which solves the problem anyway.

Bender records all this because candiates were capable of being ousted for being blatant corrupt monsters back then

But as is the standard now Nixon.. still wins thanks to a giant kille rdeath machine. or you know appealing ot bpeoples most base instincts. Either way

And hopefully not a chilling vision of things to come. The episode itself is fucking great though: while the trump presidency helped it age gracefully it has good things to say about voting (ironically leela forgets to vote) how similar parties can be and the dangers of people like Nixon. It also has that naked jump cut, nixon yelling at a dog and going into people's houses at night to wreck up the place. It's a fantastic episode and one i'll defintely be rewatching again.

Season 2, Episode 20

So onto our only live action show of the special, and like animation we were spoiled for choice

Which is a valid stance and better than the republicans stance of "We want to tell you what to do with your body."

But Kev went with dinosaurs for reasons and i'm not inclined to turn down muppets, especially since we haven't covered Dinosaurs. I should do a block of those next year.

For those not familiar with it: Dinosaurs was a family sitcom following well. dinosaurs made by the jim henson company. It has a ton of great muppets, bodysuits and other good stuff and is esentially what if the flintstones were even more cyncial

Okay take about ten percent off Mark Russel's take and you really do have it. The show isn't subtle, but it is funny, and has great performances and I now want to check out more. If you want ot learn more Youtuber Jose has done a retrospective on it.

For now we're covering the election episode as Earl, the head of the house and your standard sitcom husband and Fran, his wife played by the late great jessica walter are taking their youngest child Baby Sinclair to get a name that's not just baby. I love how they lampshade it too: earl is morfitied it took them so long and fran recaps season 1 in pointing out why they've been too busy.

I do love how they build up dinosaur culture: while there are obvious anlaogues to us there seems to be uniqyue stuff baked in from what i've read, and this episode showcases it and sets off the plot well: the elder, basically president but in a more mystic way with a wizard robe and everything, picks a name. HIs name for baby is "Aaah Aagh I'm Dying You Idiot" Also he's dying. Sure i't sa concidence.

This name dosen't go over well with Baby. Which i'd care about if Baby wasn't an annoying catchprhase machine who should be left for the wolves. Or I guess this guy

So fun fact this guy also shows up in the opening.. and having not seen dinosaurs, I had no idea wha tthe fuck this thing was. I still don't but at least I know it's a recurring monster that's also some kind of demon that ate Earl and his son RObbie once.

So with the elder gone a dark force rises to take his place, JP Richfield, head of wesayso corpration and corrupt asshole played to perfection by Sherman Hemsley. While he'd love to just be elected elder, it has to APPEAR fair so he picks an idiot to run against him who somehow looks worse. Naturally earl gets the job and agrees to take a dive.

How he does it.. is shockingly funny. He sings how lovely to be a woman from bye bye birdie, a musical I dearly love> That song.. I do not. I mean Telephone Hour, You Gotta Be Sincre, One Last Kiss, Lotta LIvin To Do, all bangers but that one just.. isn't. Earl however fucking belts it well. The joke shoudln't work as it could easily fall into the trap of "GET IT A MAN ACTING FEMININE IS FUNNY AND WE'RE JUST A TENSY BIT TRANSPHOBIC". It does slightly, but holds up decently due to how much Earl commits to the bit and how fucking weird that.. that's what Jp Chose to have earl do, showing he both deeply loves bye bye birdie, that it exists here somehow, and that Earl also knows all the words. It hasn't aged perfectly, but Stuart Patakin commits to the bit and tom fisher in the suit gives the thing way more physicallity than I thought possible.

SO earl's family is naturally ashamed of him.. granted that's thei natural state but willingly throwing an election to a corrupt billionare is a bit far even for him. Thankfully he has a guilty nightmare that shows his family out on the street thanks to Richfield that turns him around. Dinosaurs REALLY said EAT THE RICH and tha'ts awesome. I mean they may of not sait it outright but they imnplied it hard in how the rich just want to make themselves and thei rbuddies richer and everyone else can go screw.

So Earl decides to genuinely run.. and by that I mean blather nervously to his interveiwer edward r hero, who interviews both candiates alongside normal dinosaurs anchor howard handupme, one of the best names in all of fiction. When that fails he's told by Robbie to just dance a little sidestep, and we get a great scene of earl just.. ignoring interview questions and talking about his children. Which is as hilarous as it is deeply sad that that shit works. I also like the headline afterword of they bought it.

Robbie has doubts and says a line that's just. so damn cutting and relevant "Winning an election dosen't mean your qualifeid to be president" Preach sister, preach. Earl has another nightmare and decides to tank the election.

The result.. is comedy gold as Earl fully comes out as a massive dumbass who is not qualified at all. Please don't vote for him. While RJ is pissed of that Earl accidently outs his election fraud. Edward R Hero laments that is this REALLY the best democracy can do? A choice between an idiot and a despot? Given that really was our choice four years ago, I can relate.

Thankfully the dinosaurs instead vote for hero, the world is saved and Baby is named.. baby while Earl laments he could do the job

This episode is solid. On the nose as hell but fun. I may of not had a lot to say, but I did enjoy this one and wouldn't mind covering dinosaurs again sometimes. It's got that muppet charm with an added bit of cynism tha'ts unique. It feels like a more succesful version of land of gorch: same ambition and adult audience (Though still watchable by kids unlike land of gorch), but with that muppet style

Episode Ranking: A Head in the Polls And the Winner Is A Goof of the People All the Duke's Men

Note that none of these episodes are bad. Their all enjoyable slices of election episode with some stuff to say. But they all also say the same thing: voting is important, and evil triumphs by good men doing nothing and poltiikcs has sadly alwasy been like this on some level the republicans just stopped putting up a pretense of giving a shit about basic decency. What is the event?

The event is an Itachi/Sasuke ship inspired prompt week with a winter theme.

Do I have to sign up somewhere?

No. You can create works and post works at your will.

Is this a low stress event?

Yes. No pressure. Just posting Itachi/Sasuke content for everyone to enjoy.

How did the event start?

The members on the ItaSasu Discord server decided on the dates and put together a list of prompts. Prompts were randomly chosen and their dates. Originally, the idea of the week was to have dark content (as is Itachi and Sasuke’s penchant), but we branched out to fluffier and less dark ideas.

Content

What types of media are allowed?

Anything you want to create is allowed. Fic, art, comics, icons, edits, moonboards, manips, headcanons, physical crafts, media, video, audio, etc.

What does “winter” mean in the context on this event?

Winter can mean anything from playing in the snow to braving the blustering winter winds. It can mean something fluffy and sweet with the characters coming closer together. It can be something bleak but empty. The winter can be a ruthless, harsh time of the year, and it naturally lends itself to dark or bleak moods or surroundings. Itachi and Sasuke have a relationship which hits these seasonal changes, so you can hit whichever side of it you want to tackle.

Do I have to use the winter theme in my work?

It isn’t mandatory to use a winter theme as a central focus alongside your prompt. But in the same vein as the theme, you can make your work completely winter-themed with the listed prompts so it does take place during the winter season, or you can give your work nods to a winter theme in spirit. We are flexible on how this is done and how you want to handle your prompts.

Are OCs allowed?

Yes. Put your OCs in your work in any way you want.

Are polyamory/threesome ships allowed?

Ships that have more characters involved with the Itachi/Sasuke relationship are allowed. Even with other characters involved in the relationship, Itachi/Sasuke ship content must be featured somewhere in the relationship dynamic.

Can there be background ships?

Yes, but Itachi/Sasuke ship content must have a role in your work.

Besides Naruto, can I include works with Boruto, AUs, or crossovers?

Yes, you can include them in your works, or other fandoms.

What will not be tolerated?

Hateful, offensive, or inflammatory content aimed towards other participants or the subject of the event. As long as content doesn’t bash or insult other participants for the content of their work (e.g. ships, characters, choice of tropes) and stays relevant to the atmosphere of the week, you can create for it.

Prompts

How many prompts do I have to use a day?

At least one prompt. Picking one prompt for each set of prompts is fine for your fanwork. You can combine prompts on each line or do them separately.

Can I do more than one work per day?

Yes, of course you can!

Can I mix the types of content I want to create?

Mixing media types for separate prompts, or for the same prompt, is fine. You can write a fic for one prompt and create art for another prompt.

What does Light, Neutral, and Dark mean on the prompt list?

In order to create the prompts, we decided to add three categories.

Light, the first set of prompts, is for prompts that have the potential to be sweeter or aren’t as dark adjacent. Like fluffy snow.

Neutral, the second set of prompts, is for works that can fall in between Light and Dark and have a more tranquil feeling. Like gray winter skies.

Dark, the third set of prompts, is for darker types of content or prompts which might lead to violent or NSFW content. Like long darkness and harsh coldness.

These are not hard and fast rules. Just the founding reason we created these categories of prompts. Interpret any prompt the way you want to interpret it.

Is NSFW or trigger content allowed?

Absolutely! Do what you want with NSFW tropes, kinks, or triggering content. We do not have specific content restrictions or ratings for what you can create, so any type of ratings is fine to create.

Should I tag my work for sensitive content?

We ask you to tag your work appropriately for content like violence or sexual themes across the platform you post your works on. Warnings for triggers and NSFW count. Redirect to other sites for NSFW content that can’t be posted on Tumblr, give warnings in tweets, or put cuts on content that might need a cut, etc. The ItaSasu Discord server has NSFW channels for NSFW content.

Does my work have to be new for the event?

Ideally, your work should be a new work for the event so your work can properly focus on the prompts we have provided here. All content should stand as a full work for the event and does not need other works for the content to make sense. However, if you want to draw inspiration from another work, you can use WIPs you haven’t posted yet or separate the entry into a unique and standalone work.

What can I create for the free day option for Day 7?

You can use any trope, kink, or idea you have in mind that otherwise appeals to you. This day is helpful if you aren’t interested in the other prompts on the list.

Where can I post my work?

Anywhere you want! Tumblr, Twitter, AO3, FFN, Dreamwidth, etc. You can add your works to our ItaSasu Winter Week 2023 AO3 subcollection.

Can I submit my work to the Tumblr blog?

You can submit your work on the blog. You may send a message to us after a day if we don’t post your work and make sure we received it, but we will do our best to post your submission as soon as we can. Submissions might close after the prompt week is finished and you won’t be able to submit anymore, so you’ll have to post them without submitting them if that happens.

How can I make it easier to share my work?

Tumblr: Long posts can go behind cuts so it’s easier to share it. Put event tags in the first five tags. Submissions with NSFW content in the post may not be possible to post on the event blog since Tumblr doesn’t allow posting NSFW content, so please host that elsewhere and share a link to that content.

Twitter: Put warnings of important content in the first tweet of your thread, or at least somewhere that can be found easily if you post it in another tweet.

General: You should have content tags in place that can be seen.Include links to your works or tags. Art can have crops if you want to exclude NSFW in an image, and fics can have descriptive information like a summary or notes.

First of all, SPOILERS FOR THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY SEASON 4! Kinda. It's an attempt at an alternative "what if" ending, but still. Also language, obviously.

Now, for my version I came up with at five in the morning. If y'all want to see a more detailed version, might make one if I'm given the time. For now, have this.

... ... ...

The Cleanse. Lumbering its way towards The Umbrella Academy to consume the last traces of Marigold and merge the shattered timeline once and for all. And Five, in every one of his infinite wisdoms, only has one plan.

5: "We need to sacrifice ourselves."

Luther: "Am I the only one that doesn't like this plan?"

Klaus: "Yeah, old Klaus might've been into that kinda thing, but I don't really vibe with the whole-"

Viktor: "I'll do it."

And this is where things change. This time, Viktor takes charge. With his power, he'll take everyone's Marigold and sacrifice himself. Everyone else can take the last train with Lila and Allison's families to try and escape to the new timeline.

Allison: "Viktor, we would never leave without you-"

Viktor: "Please. I'd rather not have all of us erased from existence if there's a chance I can save you guys."

5: "I'm staying as well. If you're dead set on doing the sacrifice play, then someone has to blink the others to the station."

Viktor: "Five, but-"

5: "I've lived a long life. I've lived many long lives. And if you have hope for them, Viktor, then... Then so do I."

With The Cleanse approaching, Five blinks everyone to the subway station to buy Viktor time. There, everyone says their tearful goodbyes to Five and Viktor as they all join hands. The show gets its poignant moment, as Viktor takes the last of everyone's Marigold...

Allison: "... I'm so sorry you left Canada for this."

Viktor: "I'm not. Guess I finally get to be special, huh?"

5: "You were always special."

Until someone interrupts, taking Five's Marigold as well as Viktor's.

Lila: "Sod it."

5: "AGH-! Lila!"

Viktor: "Lila, what are you-"

Lila: "You lot said I should save my family, yeah?"

Lila mimics Viktor's power to take the Marigold for herself, making sure Viktor and Five can escape with their family.

Diego: "Lila, you're insane! Our family needs you! I need you-"

Lila: "Our family's gonna be fine. They've got you lot in it. You've got this."

With one last kiss to Diego, Lila pushes the rest of the group onto the train before it departs. Lila follows the train as long as she can to say goodbye to her family. Then she blinks away.

5: "Diego, there's nothing we can do."

Lila faces The Cleanse with a defiant shout. To this universe, to every universe, to this abomination that tried to tear away the only things she'd ever loved in life.

Lila: "FUCK YOOOOOOOOOU!!!"

The timelines collapse back into their one true form, and on the 12th hour of the 8th day of August, 2024, absolutely nothing happened.

Pogo (narrating): "You might even say it was completely ordinary."

And The Umbrella Academy, for all the times these six siblings have been starting and stopping the end of the world non-stop...

...They really needed a day like that at long last.

... ... ...

And that's how I would've ended the show. There's a lot of other parts I'm sure others have ways to fix, but I think this ending is a bit more satisfying. I kept Lila's self sacrifice, I felt that moment was too good to waste, but added some depth to Viktor and Diego's parts in that scene considering their plots in the show gave them some focus.

Thoughts On 2023 Favorites

TV Shows 1. Good Omens season 2: Oops, I'm obsessed again. You can make the argument that a second (and PHEW eventual third) season was unnecessary, but I disagree. It was nice to get a season that wasn't so breakneck in it's pacing. Everything slowed down a bit and focused in on Aziraphale and Crowley's shenanigans. Which, let's be honest, is what the audience wants. That being said, I liked everything else about it too. A cute/silly plot, fun new characters, and a devastatingly sad finale that left me distraught. I could not have asked for more really. (Except more kissing. Please tell me there will be more kissing.) 2. Lockwood and Co: A spooky premise that probably took a lot of effort to appear even semi-believable [as a tv show]. Yet, it was pulled off with flying colors. It was also perfectly atmospheric and charming, so of course netflix canceled it. I plan on reading the books.

Animation (TV & Films) 1. Murder Drones: 2023 was a good year for indie animation overall, and out of all of them Murder Drones was the show to win my entire heart. Perfect setup for horror and YA spoofing, but also well written enough that I enjoyed the character focus and progression as well. I'm psyched for the final two episodes set to release in the spring. 2. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: If any movie of recent memory deserved a decent sequel it was this one, so I'm very happy it turned out as great as it did. One of the few comic-book films I bothered with in 2023. 3. Hilda season 3: Easily one of my all-time favorites from Netflix, so I'm beyond happy it has a great ending now. Gorgeous animation, a lovable main and support cast, and perfect chill vibes. Deserves a bluray release. 4. Elemental: Listen. Pixar's still got it this was so cute. You're forgiven for The Good Dinosaur Peter Sohn. 5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem: So much fun tho. Love the current creative trend in cg films happening thanks to Into the Spider-verse. Also, the No Diggity scene was incredible. The movie has an A+ soundtrack. Anime (TV & Films) 1. Trigun Stampede: So relieved this turned out to be great, considering the original is a favorite of mine. Not a easy feat in the age awful, cash-grab reboots. 2. The Boy And The Heron: Honestly? My favorite Miyazaki film since Howl's Moving Castle. Genuinely moving and left me misty-eyed. 3. Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc: This show is so pretty. Still surprised how well the series portrays it’s simple, compelling cast. Like it’s an effortless sort of thing (it’s not). 4. Suzume: Makoto Shinkai's last three movies just make me happy okay. Happy and hopeful. The best comfort movies ever. Video Games I have a steam deck now so you'd think I played a bunch of video games last year but, no. I didn't get heavily into much last year. Played some Hades though? Live Films || Note: I watched so many great classic horror movies this year that I had never given a proper watch. I would like to continue that this year!! 1. Talk to Me: Please make more horror movies Danny and Michael Philippou. This one was wild. 2. Dark City: The fact that The Matrix got four movies and this didn't get any sequels is a fucking tragedy. 3. Coherence: Love me a simple, creepy sci-fi movie with an interesting premise. Apparently, quite a lot of the film is improvised as well? That blew my mind. 4. Greener Grass: More films that just feel like one big Adult Swim skit please. This style of script is hysterical to me. 5. Caveat: This goes on my fave list simply for scaring the shit out of me lmao. Movies walk a fine line, when the intention is to make you uncomfortable for long periods of time. They risk being irritating instead of entertaining. Caveat had me shrieking at my tv (in a delighted sort of way).

"You have definitely got your looks from your father," Kylian grinned. He gently rocked the small baby; Isaiah Norman Mbappe was born three weeks ago, a healthy 7lb 8oz and already loved by so many people. The Frenchman placed a small kiss to his son's head, he didn't realise he could love somebody as much as he loved the tiny human in his arms. "Mummy will be home soon, I promise."

What was supposed to be a happy time for the new parents, was tarnished by the seemingly break-up of the couple. After the reveal of Molly and Kylian's affair, Rosalie fled to her parents' house, leaving her stranded fiancé and son alone. They hadn't spoken in two weeks; she would religiously video call to see her beautiful son, but there was no communication between the separated couple.

Kylian didn't know what to do. Of course, he missed the mother of his child, but he couldn't stop the growing anger building up inside of him. He was struggling to process how and why she had willingly left their newborn; as much as he loved Rosalie, he didn't know if there was any hope of continuing their engagement.

"Kylian," he turned around to face the owner of the voice. "How's the baby?"

"A handful but he's finally quiet now," he chuckled. He ushered Molly over to the couch and sat down next to her. "Do you want to hold him?"

He watched her eagerly nod, her cheeks turning a light pink. He widely grinned and placed little Isiah in the arms of his former lover. Molly tenderly traced a soft finger over his delicate cheeks. "He's beautiful Ky. You and Rosalie must be happy."

"It should have been you," Kylian interrupted. He pushed a few strands of hair behind her ear and kissed her cheek. He rested a hand on her thigh and gazed at his son, who's eyes were staring at the brunette. "He likes you," he whispered. "I meant what I said Moll, I wish it was you and I in this situation."

"Kylian, come on," Molly frowned. "I also meant what I said. Nothing is going to happen between us. I'll be your friend, but this thing we had, is over."

A week after Isaiah was born, Molly had gone to visit the happy couple unaware of the events that had happened. To say she was angry was a mere-understatement, it was the push she needed to finally end everything between the pair. Kylian hadn't taken it lightly, he was still completely in love with the brunette and wasn't willing to let her go so easily. It was when she mentioned about her growing relationship with Julian, their conversation reached boiling point. Hurtful things were said, things they both knew they didn't mean.

Kylian gazed at his son in his cot, then at Molly. "He's cute when he's asleep," she muttered. She felt the Frenchman's hands rest themselves on her waist, his breath etching closer to her neck. She twisted around and allowed them to be mouth to mouth. He pressed his lips onto hers with tenderness and passion, she wrapped her arms around his neck and allowed herself to deepen their kiss.

They kissed for a few minutes before she pulled away and rested her head against his. He traced a finger along her bottom lip and pecked her nose. "Why did that feel like a goodbye?"

"Because it was," Molly sighed. She kissed his cheek and collected her belongings, heading to the door. "It has to be," she wrapped her fingers around the handle and turned to face a star struck Kylian. "This is where our story ends; I love you, but I can't be with you. You are still my best friend and I will always be here for you, but that's as far as it goes. Goodbye Kylian."

The drive back to Julian's parents' house was silent. The German had taken a visit to his hometown for the weekend; making a quick stop at his family's house, he decided it was finally time to introduce them to the famous Molly Medina. But two hours into their trip, the couple were already arguing. Julian wasn't happy about the constant phone calls from Kylian, which made Molly angry that they were still arguing about a situation that had been solved.

"Can we go talk?" Julian leaned against the doorframe of the living room, gazing at the brunette, his eyes pleading. "I don't want to argue."

Molly sighed, she placed her laptop on the side table and turned to face the German. "It's your house," she blushed. She watched as he grabbed a hold of her wrist and pulled her upstairs. Julian sat down on the bed, he pulled Molly onto his lap, her legs straddling his waist. "I'm sorry. I know I'm a fuck-up, I hate hurting you. You deserve someone better."

He reached forward, placing a hand on her cheek. "Moll," he whispered, his eyes soft. "I don't want anybody else. I want you. I love you. Nothing is going to change that," he bit his lip. "I'm sorry I keep getting angry about Kylian, I just don't trust him."

"Do you trust me?" Molly spoke with a shaky voice, gazing at the handsome German from beneath her thick lashes. Julian felt his stomach warm. He didn't understand how after everything that had happened between them, he could only look at her with pure love and adoration. She softly pecked his lips and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. "I promise you it's over."

The footballer pushed the hair out of the brunette's eyes. "Of course, I trust you," he paused and bit his lip. "I don't want to be controlling and you can be friends with whoever you want, I'm just always going to be jealous and I apologise."

Molly pouted, then gazed at her hands that were now in her lap. "You don't have to apologise," she sniffled, licking her lips and tasting her warm tears. She observed as Julian tenderly traced a finger over her wet cheeks. How can you keep hurting someone who loves you as much as him? "Do you think we'll ever be able to get past this?"

"Yes," nodded Julian, gazing up at Molly. He offered her a charming smirk and pinched her cheek, lightly pecking her nose. "All I want is for you to be happy. Your happiness, is my happiness."

"How do you know for sure?"

"Because, mein engel: when two people really care about each other, they will always look for a way to make it work, no matter how hard it is," he gently smiled. It was clear that things between them would always be difficult moving forward; but no matter how often he thought of their future, the thought of a future where she wasn't in his life, was never an option. Julian picked up Molly's hand and intertwined their fingers, squeezing her hand. "As you see," he grinned, placing a quick kiss to her lips. "We belong together."

Hours later and the party was still going strong. It was the weekend before the start of the new Ligue 1 season and the club had thrown a get-together for the players and the staff; it was the first official outing for Julian and Molly, whilst Kylian was still estranged from Rosalie. His head was an absolute mess; he had a new-born baby to look after, a fiancé that didn't want to speak to him and a best friend that wasn't acting like a best friend should.

After Julian and Molly's discussion in Germany, she decided it was best to stay away from the Frenchman and she managed to do that with ease. But tonight, was the biggest test; they were both drinking, it was dark and Molly was wearing a skimpy number that even Julian was finding it hard to resist.

"Moll, you look..." his voice drifted off. "You look amazing, I'm so lucky."

"Thank you," she smiled. She playfully winked in his direction; she knew how much he wanted to reach out and touch and kiss her, but she was in a teasing mood tonight. "You look alright. I guess I'm kinda lucky to."

Molly bit her lip. It was clear that what she was about to do was a big turning point in her life. Three weeks after the PSG party, she was finally ready to answer give an answer to Julian. The German had spent the past twenty-one days restless and emotional, unsure of the answer the love of his life would give him.

The pair hadn't spoken; he had questioned, her mother and sister (who wouldn't give anything away), Freddie and Ruby (who acted as if they didn't know) and Kylian, who was furious to find out about Julian's proposal. He had called Molly countless times and only received a few replies, those being about his son.

But here she stood, gazing into the tired eyes of the footballer, ready to reveal her heart. She was hoping he would like her response, she knew the major risk she was taking and she was hoping it would pay off. "Can you just put me out of my misery?" Julian half laughed, his eyes threatening to close. "I haven't slept in three weeks and Poch is not happy."

Molly giggled and placed herself on the couch, crossing her legs and resting her hands in her lap. "Sorry," she mumbled. She watched as Julian sat down next to her, keeping an agonizingly small distance between their bodies. All he wanted to do was wrap his arms around her frame and trace kisses over her skin.

"Do you remember when you took me to that park for my birthday and it was because it reminded you of a memory from our time of knowing each other?" she questioned. She moved closer and intertwined their fingers, placing a tender kiss to his cheek. "I had no clue that you would become who you are now, the most important person in my life."

He watched as a single tear fell down her cheek, he delicately wiped it away and pecked her nose. "Sometimes I can't believe how lucky I am that you chose me," Molly whispered. The tears started to fall rapidly down their cheeks, slight laughter from the pair when they realised how emotional they both had become.

Julian took a deep breath and started to speak. "We've been through so much together Moll, but I never want to be the guy holding you back," he smiled. "I want to be the one by your side and it won't always be easy, but I want to do whatever it takes to make this work," he paused and pecked her lips, pulling her in for a tight hug. He cupped her cheeks and stroked her cheek. "Because that is what you do when you love someone."

Molly was sure that this emotion would last forever. They had been through a lot over the past four years and they still always found a way back to each other, no matter what the hurdle was. Julian knew when they first ended things that they would reunite; he had never felt emotions like he did with Molly, every day their love grew to a new strength. "So, the answer to your question, is," she brightly grinned. She stood up and walked together, towards the window, wrapping her arms around the German. She put a hand on his cheek, slightly tilting it towards her. She closed her eyes to compose herself, ready to speak the one word she had been wanting to say for three weeks. She had only ever had one answer; no matter what lifetime, what country, it would always be the same...

a/n: so that is it - it's OVER!!! but don't worry i have an epilogue.

i just want to start by saying thank you for following me with these two books, i have enjoyed my time writing them and i am very happy you are all enjoying them.

back to the story - now i know y'all were hoping for a kylian ending but i am sorry.. hey the book is a kylian/julian joint one ;-) but you never know... you know i like my surprises, so wait for the epilogue!

so the epilogue... it will have to be posted after i get back from my holiday, i might post something whilst i'm away. the epilogue will be a four-part story (followed with of course, instagram captions) this will fully round off the story and end it.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Deep Night (Thurs iQiyi) ep 7 of 8 - Love that they’re addressing being outed (not as gay but) as sex workers. Interesting twist, more classism than homophobia. The sides are FUCKING ADORABLE. Also we asked for a 3some and they sure as shit gave us one, dream sequence or not. Plus baby likes the idea. Everyone say "thank you Thailand." Bonus more lesbians and a lovely mother-son core relationship. I’m feeling spoiled by this show. 

Two Worlds (Thurs IQIYI) ep 6 of 10 - Love that we got the 2nd world romance at laso. I do like how well MaxNat do tenderness. I would call it their forte. Also if you love that picture perfect yaoi size-difference, its this pair more than most others. Max TOWERS over Nat and he's about 2x his weight.

City of Stars (Fri iQIYI) ep 12fin - It’s cute. They're cute. It was a lovely ending. 

Summation:

A solid little pulp about a closeted actor who falls for his nerdy next door neighbor and has to come out. Makes up for in earnestness and good will what it lacks in acting ability and chemistry. 7/10 

To Be Continued (Sat C3 Thailand grey) - I kind of love that the break up was miscommunication but all around a shitty first time, so common to many of us. And being too young to talk properly, or know what they wanted and needed from each other, for each other, or with each other.

“ I was a coward back then.” “ Are you brave now?”

Sure it was miscommunication but at least they were honest about it.

Achi was genuinely an asshole and I understand Ji's extreme bitterness now - his heart was broken because the friendship fractured and he was abandoned. Then the good kind of time lapse. All in all I quite enjoyed the last few episodes of the show. Mostly because it was better than The Promise. Which doesn’t take much. Still, by comparison I can only give it a relatively good grade (for a not re-watchable difficult to find pulp).

Summation:

A bittersweet reunion romance about a doctor and the superstar who abandoned him in high school, their reconciliation, and the enduring pain of first love. Including the, erm, actual pain of a first time. The honesty of the miscommunication in this pulp and the intimacy scenes elevates it, but not much more than that. 7/10

1000 Years Old (Thurs iQIYI) ep 10 of 12 -  They are too cute, with their little promised to die together. I’m still finding the majority of the show very boring, but I can’t discount the sweetness of the couple. Demanding vampire boyfriend is demanding.

Close Friend Season 3: Soju Bomb! (Weds iQIYI) - Finished and rumor is, it never improved and wasn't really BL.

Unknown (Taiwan Tues YouTube & Viki) ep 9 of 12 - I do love this show. How is it, in one episode, more gangster than all of KP or Kiseki? It was always gonna take A LOT for Q to come round but I do hope they resolve it soon. I'd like to see them actually happy for a bit.

Gray Shelter (Korea Thurs iQIYI) ep 3-4 of 5 - they act about 1000 times more like exes than they do like brothers, just saying. I get what’s happening, they’re each dodging around admitting that they like the other person and trying to force the other one to admit it first. So they push up to the line of threatening to leave but neither one can ever actually cross it because they don’t actually want to be apart ever again. It’s kind of fun to watch actually. All angsty bullshit, but hey, repressed boys be repressed.

Living With Him AKA Kare no Iru Seikatsu (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 2 of 10 - Awe K wants to be N’s bf so bad. All the hints are being dropped. But this is Japan, baby boy is NEVER going to get it without being kissed and sometimes not even then. I mean the Weatherman fucked his boy for years and it still didn’t, erm, sink in. Meanwhile, the classic Japanese version of a bespectacled wingman has entered stage right (never lose your childish wonder, Japan). It’s great, I utterly adore it. 

Blue Boys (Korea ? YouTube) 1 of ? No MDL link - on Sukfilm’s YT channel (along with a cute little GL) interesting short series that just happened out of the, erm, blue. Reunion of old classmates reveals that both are struggling with life, but back then the popular jock had a big ol' crush on the nerd. They go drinking and end up in bed - as ya do. This is Korea, so chaste kisses, but still GOOD START. (The GL is adorable too)

At 25:00 in Alaska AKA 25 Ji Akasaka de (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - Hum. It felt like I'd seen this all before and then Japan dick slaps me with a sex club. Say it with me everybody, "must you Japan?" Let's see how they do but I'm not impressed so far.

Love is like a Cat (Korea Mon Viki) eps 5-6 of 12 - Speaking of unimpressed. Geonu is definitely the best thing about this show. Which is saying something as he’s the idol AND such a minor character. NO SINGING. (Except Geonu, he can sing.)

Takumi-kun Series 6: Nagai Nagai Monogatari (Japan Furritsubs) eps 1-? of 10 - I may wait and binge it.

Lady Boy Friends (Thai WeTV grey) 16 eps - reminds me a bit too much of Diary of Tootsies only high school. Not my thing. DNF unless it turns a corner and is truly amazing.

Kiseki Chapter 2 (Sun iQIYI) 6 eps - It’s so boring DNFed at 2

4/25 Boys Be Brave! AKA Roommates (Korea Thurs Viki) ep 1 of 8 - Trailer Jung Ki Sub is Kim Jin Woo's slacker friend - and secret crush. So when Ki Sub crashes at his place, his heart tingles to be near him everyday. But as the short stay turns into permanent mooch, how long can Jin Woo keep his true feelings under wraps and hold back from confessing?

4/26 My Stand-In (Thai Fri iQIYI) ep 1 of 12 eps - adaptation of Chinese novel "Professional Body Double" by Shui Qiang Cheng. Stars Up (Lovely Writer) and Poom (Bake Me Please) directed by the same team as KP (not a recommendation IMHO - my biggest criticism of that show was the clashing directing styles). This one looks complicated, lemme try: Joe is a stuntman for famous actor Tong. Joe falls in love with Ming but Ming sees Joe as nothing more than a Tong-replacement. After learning this horrible truth, Joe dies. Joe then wakes up in the body of another man also named Joe. He manages to rebuild the same life as before—with the same people eventually re-meeting Ming. Ming wants Joe back but Joe doesn't understand why. But Ming seems to know what's going on and wants to give him some kind of explanation.

I'm exhausted just trying to describe the plot.
