Last song: my spotify daylist this morning is playing a whole bunch of panic! at the disco so I don't know if I want to answer this one lmaoo but uh the last song played as I worked on this was "Nails for Breakfast, Tacks for Snacks". I've been listening to fob exclusively for a year but have been slowly breaking the curse with mcr and adjacent side projects. Currently watching: I just finished the new season Bridgerton so not watching anything really at the moment. Though before bed last night I put on Seinfeld as background noise. Lately tv has not been all that interesting to me. I have watched a bit of the Stanley Cup playoffs but I end up not finishing the games because I go to bed before it ends 😔

Spicy/savory/sweet: spicy!! but not too spicy that it hurts my tummy. I love thai food!!

Relationship status: single 💔 but I'm okay with it. I'm very independent and enjoy my freedom. That said, I'm not lonely. I have so many lovely friends (online and irl) that keep me busy 🥰

Current obsession: I've entered a new fob phase since June 2023. Tour/2ourdust has dominated my every day since last year. I've told friends the story of me getting back into fob. It's kinda long but basically I got back into the concert circuit after seeing blink 182 last year at MSG and was talking to a friend about the next shows we could go to, over brunch. she mentioned fob, and me, normal at the time, said oh I know them, they make bops, that could be a fun show. I didn't even know that there was a new album. I proceeded to listen to stardust and said I *have* to see fob live. Fast forward to today, I've seen them 9.5 times (the half time is the VMA taping from Sept loool). And now I'm reading rpf, which is definitely new for me. As a wee teen I was never into bandom/rpf but I love it now. And I'm forever grateful for the friends I've met along the way!!!

also I'm entering a 3rd mcr phase, and this time mega obsession.

Fell On Black Days

calloused fingers pushed tousled and messy hair out of bright hazel eyes. he was due for a haircut, but little things like that always seemed to slip through the cracks in between tours for jonny. haircuts, eating, sleeping... it was nothing new. he half puffed on a cigarette as he pulled a new string through the bridge of his superstrat. smoke curled away from his mouth, the cigarette hanging from his lips more than he actually smoked it. his mind was focused singularly on the task like it was a long forgotten ritual. he carefully and reverently twisted a tuning knob tight once the string was in place and those calloused fingers slid up along the neck delicately with a whisper of sound along the new strings. a practiced ear had it in tune and before he knew it, he was shutting his eyes and playing out riffs to a few of his favorite songs -- songs that he'd learned what seemed like eons ago on this very guitar.

it had been some time since this guitar had been handled. it was his very first. a black 1989 superstrat with a slightly twisted neck that he'd picked up in a pawn shop in the bronx when he was 16. it had been his prized possession. he was told it would never play quite right, and jonny supposed that might have been part of the reason he liked it so much. it was a little twisted and just a little broken like him. but the imperfections made it what it was and jonny's sentimental soft heart would never allow him to part with it.

he played unplugged and unashamed until the familiar scent of burning filter caught his attention. the rockstar wrinkled his nose and snubbed out the remains of his cigarette in the ashtray he kept by the window. he huffed out a soft laugh at himself. he didn't realize how into playing he'd been -- he couldn't remember the last time he'd gotten that lost in just the music. his leg was covered in ash and the shiny surface of his strat was freckled with it as well.

jonny lifted the body of the guitar to his mouth and carefully blew the ash off before he stood to go put it away again. he paused with the neck of the guitar in his hand, looking at the imprint of it of it that was left on the felted material of the case. he hesitated. it had been a long time since he'd played this guitar and yet he couldn't remember the last time he enjoyed just playing this much. when was the last time he'd played for just himself? when was the last time he'd played to just the stars or the wind blowing in the trees?

his phone vibrating in his pocket distracted him from his thoughts and if anyone had seen his face it would have been clear that he was displeased with the message that appeared there. a reminder from the very last person he wanted to see that he was expected to be in the studio for sessions and that he would see him there. he couldn't wait until his home studio was finished and he could send work over instead of having to deal with him on a regular basis.

the superstrat was carefully placed back in its case, clipped in and tucked away in a dark corner of his office space. it was protected and secured until jonny was ready to play it again. he lit up another cigarette more for something to do with his hands than anything and opened the doors to his balcony to get some fresh air. he passed by two lines already set up on his coffee table, knowing they would do nothing for him right now. he was already restless as it was. he didn't need a high to help him with that right now.

he couldn't help but miss the days when just playing made everything disappear --when playing could quiet the the mess of his mind. but things weren't that easy anymore. he wasn't 16 full of hopes and dreams anymore.

the peace he felt playing was quickly being replaced by the blackness; sticky and tar-like clinging to his heart. forearms rested on the railing of his balcony. instead of music the only thing he offered to the stars and the wind was an exhale of smoke and as he looked over the city lights it felt fitting. it was all he had left to give.

??: Haa? This is a scam, right? They’ve got to be manipulating the results behind the scenes.  

MC: (Is that Ushio-kun’s voice? .....Ah, I thought so.)  

MC: Ushio-kun? 

Ushio: Geh. Why are you here...? 

MC: There’s a store I like here...what about you? 

Ushio: Where I am and what I’m doing has nothing to do with you, does it? Are you infringing on my privacy? 

MC: S-Sorry. I’ll be off then.  

Ushio: Wait. I’m sure you have nothing better to do anyways. Aren’t you thirsty? 

MC: Huh? Well...now that you mention it, I haven’t had anything to drink yet so I am a little. 

Ushio: Then...cola, chocolate, and matcha—which do you prefer?   

MC: No way, are you going to treat me?  

Ushio: I am always under your care. So, which will it be?  

[Cola] 

MC: Then, I'll go with cola.  

Ushio: “Shouta’s Passion-filled Spicy Craft Cola”, yeah? 

What, so this means Chief’s oshi is also Shouta... 

MC: Eh? Oshi?  

[Chocolate] 

MC: Then, I'll go with chocolate.  

Ushio: “Sweetly Melting, Reito’s Popular Choco Milkshake”, is it. Huh, didn’t expect that.  

MC: What are you talking about...? 

[Matcha] 

MC: Then, I'll go with matcha. 

Ushio: “An and Kazari’s Double Heroine Matcha Latte ~Garnished with Candy Art~”, yeah? 

You have surprisingly refined tastes. 

MC: Yep, I feel like drinking some every now and then.  

Does this one come with candy as well? 

Ushio: ......It doesn’t matter, does it? I’m going to go buy it so twiddle your thumbs and wait here.  

MC: Ah, okay... 

MC: (Ushio-kun can be hard to grasp...) 

MC: (At any rate, this cafe is really bustling with people...) 

Female A: It’s no good~ They said today’s reservations are full and there've been no cancellations either. 

Female B: Seriously? I wonder if we’ll be able to make a reservation during the event period. Let’s give up on the food and just get drinks today then. We should be able to get take-out for the drinks at least.  

Female A: Yeah...Hey, if I order my oshi1’s drink, do you think he’ll come home after all?  

Female B: It’s random, so it'd be super exciting if a miracle like that occurred...! But wouldn’t you be moved if you ordered your ship’s other half or the rival instead and he still came out?  

Female A: True! It’d end up feeding my delusions...!  

MC: (I don’t really get it, but they seem incredibly excited... 

This seems like a limited-time cafe, so maybe there’s some kind of bonus with each purchase? If I had to guess, that’s probably what Ushio-kun's after too...)   

Ushio: Thanks for waiting.  

MC: Thanks...huh, wait? There’s two?  

Ushio: I felt like drinking something too. Now then... 

MC: (He turned around...and is clearly doing something secretly...) 

Ushio: Tch... 

MC: (He clicked his tongue...? I wonder what’s wrong.) 

Um... 

Ushio: You want seconds? 

MC: Huh? 

Ushio: If you’re still thirsty, they have a variety of different drinks—— 

MC: I'm happy for the consideration, but it’d cost money so this is more than enough.  

(I couldn’t possibly allow Ushio-kun to pay for everything either.) 

Ushio: ......ttle. 

MC: Huh? 

Ushio: It’s because this is....a battle.  

MC: Hm?? 

Ushio: There’s value in things you can’t buy with money...it’s just like travelling, don’t you think? 

Giving up just because it hasn’t come after a few tries, when you haven’t even done all you can....Isn’t that way more of a loss?  

MC: Y-Yes.... 

Ushio: That’s how it is, so just wait here.  

MC: ...... 

(He was so enthusiastic that I couldn’t turn him down...) 

(This is the fifth one...At the rate he’s going, we’re going to go through the entire menu...) 

(I know he’s buying the drinks because there’s something he wants, but...) 

Ushio: AH——! Geez! How many has it been now?! If this is how it’s going to be, I’ll put everything I have on the line to settle this...!2 

MC: U-Ushio-kun, I can’t drink anymore...my stomach is going to burst... 

Besides, the thing that you want is— 

Ushio: ...Washroom. Once I get back, we’re going another round. 

MC:  Eh, another round?! Wai—Ushio-kun! Hey, Ushio-kun! He’s gone...

Female A: If it's okay with you, would you be willing to give Reito...give that coaster to me? I’ll pay for the drink.  

MC: (It’s the person who was in front of the cafe earlier... I wonder if this person was also after this?)

Female A: That’s the character’s name! 

...I can’t believe you don’t know Reito, are you a bandwagoner? 

You aren’t qualified to have him, so I think it’d be better if you handed him over to me.

TL Notes:  

1. One's favourite (member of an idol group, character in an anime, player in a team, etc.) –Jisho 

2. 「こうなったら泣きのもう一発を…！」I wasn’t sure how to translate this but I believe it comes from「泣きの一回」, which apparently is a term used in sports when you’ve lost against an opponent and would like to request another match for a chance at victory. The 一発 that Ushio says instead comes from 一発勝負, which changes the phrase to mean “to bet everything on one final contest/bout for a complete reversal of the situation”.  

3. The urge to just leave this word as “omotenashi” is as great as the urge to leave “Chief” as “Shunin”. 

4. Likely short for “Pâtissier Battle”.  

5. The Sengoku period, also known as Sengoku Jidai (lit. ‘Warring States period’) is the period in Japanese history in which civil wars and social upheavals took place almost continuously in the 15th and 16th centuries. –Wikipedia

I'm going to be so real I do not understand tim & steph shippers who feel that Steph dating Tim again would save her character. You can make an argument that giving Tim a more compelling love interest would be beneficial for him! And you can at least make an argument that the fujo mischaracterization of Steph would stop. However she'd still, inevitably, be treated as a prop character/extension for someone more popular 😭 it also wouldn't make her appear in more books! Tim doesn't have many frequent appearances at the moment either! You can just say you like the couple and want them back together without acting like you have some kind of moral stance
