i kinda don’t get people who characterize maccready as like… secretly generous, or having a heart of gold or anything. like don’t get me wrong i don’t think he’s downright malicious or anything, but the dude is absolutely a selfish jerk once you get past the charming facade. that’s the part that’s compelling!

like, he’s nice enough and open enough with the player once you get high enough affinity with him, but his reactions to player actions still point to him being a jerk overall. the sosu just happens to be in His Circle of people he can be vulnerable with. that includes you, his son, and maybe daisy. everyone else can kick rocks, the same way it was in little lamplight

he HAD to grow up with that kind of “us vs the world, every man for himself” mentality in the capitol wasteland. doing so otherwise gets you killed or taken advantage of, which is just protracted death anyways. having grown up in a place where slavers run rampant, people are all pushing each other further down just to boost themselves up and live one more day, and it’s literally impossible to make renewable food sources because the ground is so poisoned i genuinely don’t blame him for ending up a little tight fisted. the fact that he was the mayor of little lamplight just meant that he ended up being able to accept a few people as His To Protect instead of being a total lone wolf.

the way he reacts to the players open generosity isn’t just for show, he Actually Dislikes when you give stuff away without expecting anything in return. you might need that thing and now its just gone!! that person might see you as a sucker! you give an inch and they’ll take a mile! and it makes sense for his character to be like that considering everything. i don’t get why people want to change that into him just being kind of tsundere.

i understand that having your babygirl blorbo comfort character be a canonical asshole in ways that aren’t just kinda charming can be offputting, but like…. the way he treats the sosu is a very notable exception to the rest of his life & it’s a much more interesting dynamic imo. especially if you’re playing a goody two shoes martyr. but that’s just me

There is currently a rather large discussion ongoing about the RW fandom behavior, drama, etc. I am not going to talk about the specifics of whats happened for a number of reasons. But what I do want to say is that if at any point you've harassed people over it, whether that be through anon asks or public posts- you did nothing but damage the ability for people to correctly process what is happening. You contributed nothing but harm to an already delicate situation. It does not matter what "side" you were on and I will not tolerate further interaction with me or my work if I found out you did such. If you let your personal hate for anyone boil over into threats, wishes for long term harm and petty comments meant to contribute nothing but slander or mental distress for the individuals involved who were already distressed (or acting irrationally) you did nothing but make it harder for people to process their emotions, thoughts and behaviors constructively. Regardless of who you think was in the right, who fucked up, whatever. It doesn't matter if they deserved it, or earned it, or if its an eye for an eye. Its difficult enough as it is to think clearly when presented with any kind of stressful situation and heckling people does nothing but make it worse and harder for them to explain themself in any capacity. I don't want you anywhere near me if you think that is an acceptable way to act.

I feel like booktok ruined yall. I understand the disappointment when it comes to Tenko rn, I’m disappointed too. But bnha isn’t any of our stories to tell except for Horikoshis. I feel like most of you care more about being right than you care about what might happen next. Yes, these last couple chapters have felt rushed and we haven’t gotten much from Izuku on a lot of things that should be addressed but I don’t think enough people are considering the possibility that it may be intentional.

Deku is an unreliable narrator and we haven’t gotten his introspective on anything for like 200 chapters. Why is everyone so surprised that we’re not getting anything now? He’s literally always been like this and I don’t understand why people think that’ll just change at the drop of a dime. His entire character is supposed to be a parody of what a shonen mc is supposed to be like. ‘Talk-no-jutsu’ doesn’t exactly come easy to him. He has flaws and doesn’t know how to express himself effectively unless he feels like he absolutely has to. I’m glad he’s being thrown back into normalcy because I feel like since he won’t have much to take his mind off of everything, he’ll be forced to address the things he hasn’t yet because the bottled up emotions will just be too much for him.

I’m sure Shigaraki will be addressed again and we might even get a My Villain Academia sub arc/callback.

Also, what’s with people’s obsession with fake outs? Is it really that serious? It’s not like a book where we get to read an entire volume at once, it’s a chapter by chapter manga. We can’t expect someone to come back the very chapter that they seemingly died. Also with Deku’s flashback this chapter, I can’t help but have hope that there was more to their conversation than what was shown.

Why do I feel like I’m the only person that has a little faith left in hori? This story isn’t here for us to grade…

Rhea knows what the "relics" are, and much like she says in Nopes when fighting alongside a descendant of the Elites, if they use their powers with/for "good", then it's not a sin.

We can surmise* that Rhea knew what Sharon the Nabatean, turned into the Lance of Ruin, would want, like "help those people" so if Sharon and her powers - even if they were desacrated in the worst way - are used to do/protect something Sharon would herself do/protect, then it's an "acceptable" use.

something like "not only the will of the wielder" is important, but "the will of the person who was turned in this weapon".

There's no revelation about Sharon the Nabatean, Blutgang is just a tool, a sword that was maybe made with evil intentions, but ultimately just a mere sword, like Mareeta's blade.

In a series where some characters are berserked/weaponised against their own will (witches, feral ones, berserk people, etc etc) FEH refusing (but it follows the source material here!) to point out the "origins" of the relics is completely bullcrap.

We're on "ah yes, Ashnard has a big wyvern, doesn't he?" levels, without anyone to tell us that, no, this is no wyvern, but someone turned in a weapon against his will who had a name, a family and, in general, a history.

Imagine the Tales Series, where Lloyd never muses about the "shiny rock" he has even after he learnt that this shiny rock is basically what remains of his mother, or Genis not having his "I don't want to use this" moment when he has to use the shiny rock that used to be Marble - or a Destiny port where Stahn and his pals would only see the Swordians as, swords, and not as people they want to help.

That's basically Fodlan - you're not supposed to give a fuck about Marble, Anna, Dymlos or even Rajaion, they're just neat accessories/power ups, and that's all.

dw is a mid kid's sci-fi tv show and it's quality level has been mostly entirely consistent (mid, basically, with the occasional very good episode to balance out with crimes against humanity it sometimes produces) the whole reboot, and anybody acting like the Only thing going into peoples opinions of the characters are writing preferences are either Deeply naive or are trying to hide something they know people will not take kindly to.

as someone who isnt super excited for sotm for certain reasons I am really glad that like. it's clear that since ruin theyve been setting up for carnival and sotm IS carnival. so now that carnival is finally coming out, afterwards theyll be moving on to other plotlines since the main villain stuff is sorted out

I'm just rlly happy to finally see a clear direction for how the story is gonna be playing out with like "okay these games were leading up to this so after this will be open possibilites" instead of like. absolutely no info about each upcoming game and being left guessing before it releases and just having to wait and see what's in it and if anything you're looking forward to will be in it

it feels like they have a plan and a solid direction for what they're trying to do and after carnival releases thatll be all that buildup coming to fruition. & we already know from the Scott interview that theres another release 'beyond sotm' that's 'super exciting' so maybe thatll be focusing on another big currently untouched (which is basically all of them) plotline, or even the big campaign game that dawko has been calling security breach 2

On the topic, I think Rise does a wonderful job of displaying the sensory needs of neurodiverse characters because they don't limit them to one extreme or the other; another reason why their portrayal is so wonderful.

Donnie probably shows the most examples of this range, for obvious reasons. He doesn't like unexpected stimuli—and that can be something as small as unexpected touch. He has a preference for his flavorless juice. His lab, from what I've been able to glean, appears to be lit mostly from the glow of his computer screens or his tech. Otherwise it's usually kept rather dark.

On the other hand, Donnie loves noise (as long as he's in control of it, of course). He blasts techno music until it's impossible to talk without shouting. He falls asleep to Shelldon's affirmations: also absolutely blaring.

As for Mikey, this one's a lot more speculative lolol. We see a lot of examples of him seeking out sensory throughout the series, the most memorable for me personally being when the boys are interrogating Warren Stone and he's just. Playing with absolutely everything on the playground, rapidly switching from one thing to the next. But for someone who loves runs around—and very much enjoys doing so—it's a bit surprising to me that he so willingly rides Raph's shell so much. I could see that being his safe space of sorts, for when things get too exciting and Mikey can feel it starting to overwhelm him. Just an area to take a breather.

It's wonderful to see both because it allows the characters to have sensory needs without it becoming a one-dimensional gag. It's no longer a trope, but rather an aspect of their identities. Yeah, Donnie not always reciprocating affection can be made funny. Yeah, Mikey not sitting still can be made funny. But the joke is never the character themselves because they focused on writing a complex, actual person; not the simplified, easily-digestible idea of a disability.

like he cant be a nosferatu because while a nosferatu's appearance can change over the course of several days its an extremely painful experience, so he wouldn't have looked normal in ep 1 and then look. as monstrous as he is in ep 6

so obviously he's become this man made creature, but i'm really curious as to. how he got like that. like complete human/kindred experimentation, i feel like this is def up nosferatu and tremere alleyways (in terms of what they may do to others, im also thinking malkavian or toreador) but it's been a while since i've looked at some of the clans.

also the whole into the back of the head? is very reminiscent of the unseen ones whole lair deal? but i could be wrong.

i'm also still listening to the episode so who knows.

i gotta be honest, while i loved dungeon meshi and i'm glad it had this effect for other people, i definitely do not have the 'senshi in my brain has inspired me to eat better' effect. senshi in my brain will be like 'you should have a balanced and nutritious breakfast' and my lazy ass will be like 'okay but: the instant gratification of eating like 5 cookies'

however, LGR's cooking channel DOES make me want to make sandwiches.
