The way Luz's thank you drawing got rejected by the person it was for when she thought she finally found someone who wouldn't make fun of her for her eccentric behavior, that she is worthless..and then the drawing does get recognized, that it's beautiful and why would it get thrown away. She was finally understood (I am in shambles help-)

So let me get this straight:

Hollow knight is about the journey of a small creature possessing the corpse of a god's discarded child, and the character arc that unfolds as they realize they're more than the path they were set to take, eventually defeating the corruption instead of merely postponing inevitable destruction.

Rain world is about the journeys and experiences of many small creatures sent by a bunch of gossiping computers, and the efforts to help stop the destruction caused by a corrupted god that unfolds over hundreds of years, all to postpone his inevitable death.

fionna's world being represented by a dandelion makes so much sense ... they're weeds. yet people make wishes through them, changing their whole meaning from something meant to be destroyed to something hopeful.

dandelions are also resilient and it makes sense that something associated with them would. you know. perservere despite the destruction caused by the scarab.

but ultimately i think what REALLY made me tear up over this is that dandelions are really boring plants. when you're a kid you blow on them and make your wish but they're not eyecatching or anything but still, fionna's final wish was for her old world to still exist as it was when she left it (> plain and simple. boring even).

like the moment she realized she would lose her friends, and that her friends might forget each other if the world got its magic back, she immediately decided she didn't want it and I think that ties back to the dandelion metaphor so well... like, do you really need magic to be real to find it everywhere? or can you turn something boring into something magical?

There's a lot of posts about Kiriona Gaia and the state of her body, but something that I haven't seen but I can't get out of my head is how the functionality of it must be absolutely awful for her to exist in.

Gideon used to exercise A LOT. Throughout GtN there are a number of passages where Gideon is shown to work out for hours, even to near exhaustion. This isn't just to maintain her physique, she does it to pass the time and probably to give herself a bit of a serotonin boost when the spank mags aren't cutting it. She's used to the aching of muscles, sweat dripping down her face and her pulse pounding in her ears, this is where she thrives.

So how dysphoric it must be to not only look in the mirror and face your own corpse, but you can't even feel the beat of your own heart. That is going to be so much worse for someone who regularly pushes themselves to their physical limits. She could probably do press ups for a week straight and feel nothing from it, no strain nor benefit, so what's the point? Her main coping mechanism is rendered practically useless and, even worse, has become a painful reminder that she is no longer really alive and her body has been altered.

The one thing Gideon had control over was her own body and that was always under threat of being commandeered by necromancers, but she always thought they would just take her bones, not entrap her in a prison of her own impenetrable flesh. So yeah, the teeth wounds are pretty horrifying, but I imagine for Kiriona that's not the worst of it.
