I was watching some old clips of Raditz and I realized something interesting about this characterization. Yes, Raditz is immediately interesting because he's Goku's older brother, but he's made even MORE interesting in my opinion thanks to the brief characterization he's allowed to have.
Take his first lines to Goku:
Tumblr media
He doesn't immediately berate him for his failure to purge the planet, he takes a moment to muse on how much Goku has grown and how he looks just like their father Bardock. Keep in mind, Bardock wasn't even a spark in Toriyama's mind, so for him to have Raditz say this when he's supposed to be a throwaway villain shows an unusual level of fondness for family, especially considering what we later learn about Saiyans
Raditz, upon realizing Goku doesn't remember him, isn't just annoyed that Goku forgot his mission, but seems distraught that his little brother doesn't remember him.
Tumblr media
It's a small detail, but again, cements that Raditz shows an unusual level of attachment to family bonds, especially for a Sayain.
And then (and this is something important to keep in mind) he declares that he will find a way to recover his little brother's memories because Goku is NEEDED.
Tumblr media
His priority isn't to get the planet purged or punish Goku for failing, it's to regain the only biological bond he has left, however little of it there may be.
I find it interesting Toriyama wrote this piece of dialogue. It just seems odd he would write such layered dialogue to characterize a villain he always intended to kill off ASAP. I guess it was to play into the whole "subverting the brother trope" but still, it doesn't make the characterization any less interesting
When Raditz tells Goku how their planet was destroyed and how everyone died, he AGAIN emphasizes that this means their parents died too.
Tumblr media
Again, Raditz really seems to put value on his family. Note he says PARENTS not just father. Even Vegeta, for as long as we've gotten to know him, never talks about his father King Vegeta that much (if at all? He's thought about him, but not really talked about him) I find Goku's reaction interesting too, as if deep inside, despite not remembering Bardock and Gine, his heart still feels the pain of losing them. (Could it be possible Raditz noticed his reaction and took that as a sign that Goku felt the bond too, hence his following actions?)
Like @masakoxtra said, Bardock's line seems to be unusually empathetic for Saiyans. (He talks about it at 3:30)
youtube
Even Raditz, despite living his whole life under Frieza's boot and submitting to the bullying and callousness of Vegeta and Nappa and hardening his heart because of it, hasn't completely lost his sense of empathy, it's part of his nature albeit incredibly suppressed.
Raditz then has an unusually distressed response when he realizes Goku doesn't have a tail.
Tumblr media
He doesn't mock him for losing it or immediately gets disgusted by his weakness, he is outright horrified and then gets mad at Goku for letting others just remove his tail (From Raditz's perspective, It would be like if Goku just let his arm get cut off to fit in with a race of one-armed aliens).
Tumblr media
For Raditz, he views it as a form of betrayal, not just of his race, but the idea that his own brother would rather pass as a lowly earthling than embrace his own heritage (family being something Raditz clearly values) really gets to Raditz on an emotional level.
Now that I think about it, Raditz kinda goes through 4 out of 5 of the stages of grief for the brief time he's alive.
His first reaction is denial that Goku had forgot him and accepted life on earth, then anger that he would rather live as an earthling than be with his Saiyan kin, and then he starts the bargaining phase, trying to entice Goku with the idea of fighting saying that he's a Saiyan and it's in his blood.
When that bargaining doesn't work, he resorts to a different form of bargaining.
Blackmail.
youtube
Raditz steals Gohan trying to force Goku to join him. He tells Goku to kill 100 humans by tomorrow as proof of his submission, but pay attention to the wording:
Tumblr media
Raditz says "when you decide to join us, and you WILL decide to" that's how much confidence he has in Goku's devotion towards his son EVEN THOUGH Goku's a Saiyan.
Raditz doesn't have a shadow of a doubt that Goku will do everything in his power to protect his son, even if he is a weak crybaby. Saiyans don't typically care much for their kin as shown in several flashback material later on (in fact it's later explained that they'll completely disown and abandon babies that are too weak to be considered useful. They have a very Spartan-esque society).
But Raditz knows he can use Gohan as leverage because Raditz actually understands emotional connections between family members, something he would've likely valued all the more being considered weak himself.
Tumblr media
A lot of times people are able to use emotional manipulation because they either understand or were a victim of similar manipulation.
He then warns Goku that he might as well comply because everyone is going to die anyway, the earth being scheduled for purging. He hammers home the point that Goku's defiance is pointless and he really doesn't have a choice anyway so he may as well submit.
Tumblr media
But what Raditz is doing here is almost an act of compassion (for a Saiyan). The way he sees it, Goku will die if he doesn't comply, so joining them is the only way he'll be able to survive. If he didn't care about Goku's life, why warn him? Why give him a chance to prove himself?
In fact, why would Raditz need Goku to prove himself when he was willing to take him without that before?
This is just an idea, but could it be...because of his scouter?
Remember, his scouter was open the entire time so Vegeta and Nappa are listening in. If Vegeta was listening it, after hearing about Goku's weak power level and his defiance and kind-nature, Raditz probably knew Vegeta might just dispose of Goku when they returned, considering him a disgrace to the Saiyan race. So Raditz has to have Goku prove himself by killing a bunch of humans to show Vegeta he's worth keeping alive.
It's horrific in Goku's eyes, but to Raditz, the lives of a few humans is inconsequential compared to his brother. This again is why Raditz says Goku has no choice, Vegeta won't give them a choice.
This also might be desperation on Raditz's part. If we are to consider the opening of Dragonball Z: Kakarot canon, Vegeta and Nappa mock him, Nappa going as far as to declare it's why he's called "Raditz the Runt", apparently a knickname he's saddled with in the Frieza force.
youtube
Raditz, instead of responding angrily or protesting as most Saiyans would, bows his head and pathetically apologizes, promising things will be different next time, showing that not only is this bullying common, but Raditz has just accepted it at this point. The way Raditz treats Goku when meeting him may stem from this treatment, he's trying to sway his brother the only way he's seen, through brute force and intimidation.
But Vegeta, getting sick of Raditz's weakness, promises to kill him if he screws up again, and if Vegeta promises death, you know it's coming. Raditz, panicking as his self-preservation instincts kick in, mentions his brother, saying he can help make things easier, but really Raditz just doesn't want Vegeta to kill him. Even then, Vegeta scoffs "The fact that he's YOUR brother doesn't exactly fill me with confidence" It's possible that Raditz did actually forget his brother and it was only in his panic, scrambling mentally for any way to save his life, that in that moment of desperation he at last remembered Kakarot.
Again, if we are to consider this conversation canon, Raditz needs Goku to survive to better the odds of his own survival, it's only after he's in a pod heading to Earth that he has time to think about Kakarot and wonder why he hasn't tried contacting them after so long.
But back to the OG manga, After Raditz gives Goku his ultimatum, he says this:
Tumblr media
Again, he could've stopped at "I hope you don't disappoint me" but to follow it up by emphasizing it's for both his and Gohan's sake is noteworthy.
And even though Raditz clearly doesn't have much of a connection with Gohan as he does with Goku, I find this bit particularly interesting:
Tumblr media
He barks at Gohan to stop crying and states that he possesses the proud blood of Saiyans. Yes, he is annoyed by Gohan's crying, but he also feels that he's better than that since he is still a Saiyan and wants him to be strong.
I like to imagine that Raditz is repeating something Bardock told him when he cried as a child, it feels like a very Bardock thing to say.
I particularly like the english dub of this scene, Justin Cook gives such an interesting and tender delivery of the line.
youtube
Also I really like how Raditz pauses to look at Gohan before walking away in the anime, I like to interpret it as Raditz seeing a bit of himself as a child in Gohan, but quickly burying those feelings.
There's a little fancomic I found that really drives that idea home.
Tumblr media
When Goku and Piccolo show up, before they even fight, Raditz says this:
Tumblr media
Again, why warn Goku? This feels more like Raditz is still in the bargaining mindset, he's trying to get his brother to give up and now must resort to brutally beating him to get his point through.
And then followed by this.
Tumblr media
Remember, his scouter is open, so it's entirely possible he's acting ruthless and declaring they'll die so he won't look soft to Vegeta. I mean, he'd kill Piccolo without a thought, yeah, but Goku...? It may still be a bluff.
Plus, if he was serious about killing them, why stand around and let them plot instead of finishing them off?
The tail scene is where we see Raditz's cowardly nature on full display. But I think this moment really enhances his character because most Saiyans probably wouldn't beg for their lives, at least not to the degree Raditz is doing, they're too proud a race.
Raditz starts rambling about how he'd never actually kill his brother and his death threats were just bluffs.
Tumblr media
Yes, we know it's a ploy to get free, but could there be an iota of truth in there? The fact he could've cut off his tail but was waiting for Piccolo to fire off his second Makenkosopo shows that Raditz is a quick thinker and very calculating.
Plus he probably didn't want to have to lose his tail unless he absolutely HAD to.
Tumblr media
Goku was NOT stupid for letting go.
After Goku releases him, Raditz mocks his softness stating that he, a Saiyan-warrior wouldn't hesitate to kill their own brother, only to confusedly ask if Goku wants "a demonstration".
Tumblr media
Like, if he wouldn't hesitate to kill his brother, why is he hesitating to kill his brother?
Tumblr media
He's not killing him, he's torturing him, he could easily end it.
Remember that Double Sunday he shot off with ease earlier?
youtube
And of course after Raditz and Goku get turned into donuts, Raditz says one of the saddest lines in retrospect:
Tumblr media
Like, he is relying on Vegeta and Nappa to save him, believing that they'll value him as a Saiyan and bring him back because HE HAS NO ONE ELSE TO RELY ON.
Right before he dies, he's in a sort of stage 4 depression where he can't believe this is how his life is going to end, dying alone and disgraced on some backwater planet at the hands of his own brother, their family line coming to a miserable end. He's never allowed to come to stage 5: acceptance (which is often where the change in a person's perspective/character tends to happen) because he dies and is forgotten.
Another thing that makes me sad Raditz didn't survive is cuz he's the perfect medium between Goku and Vegeta.
Goku rejects his saiyan heritage while Vegeta clings to it, but Raditz feels like he could easily straddle both worlds. He'd cling to his saiyan heritage out of love and respect for his parents (He'd still call Goku Kakarot, not because "it's a Saiyan name" like Vegeta, but because it's the name Bardock and Gine gave, his reason a much more personal one).
However, Raditz would have plenty of things NOT to like about Saiyan society, especially with how he and his father were treated as low-class warriors.
Being on earth, surrounded by kind people who don't belittle him and show basic kindness and respect would quickly endear Raditz to earth (remember, Bardock's kin are unusually empathetic for Saiyans).
Plus, being around Goku, who'd no doubt encourage and be proud of Raditz whilst training, would do a lot to boost Raditz's confidence (Goku looking like Bardock a way to ease his yearning to prove himself to his father) and further make him enjoy earth.
I like to imagine that, while Goku always wears a training gi from earth and Vegeta always wears some semblance of saiyan armor, Raditz would probably have a saiyan breastplate resembling Bardock's (as a kind of tribute to his dad) and go with loose pants like Goku which is good for training, visually symbolizing his willingness to find the balance between two worlds.
If Raditz had survived in the canon, this could've played even further into Vegeta's sense of isolation post-Cell arc. During his whole Majin Vegeta vs Goku fight speech, he could've said something like "And imagine the frustration I felt, when the only other pure-blood of my race left, your brother, that low-level trash who'd trembled for years under my elite warrior might, not only obtained the power of a super saiyan, but deemed me, ME the prince of all Saiyans UNWORTHY of his time! UNWORTHY FOR HIM TO FIGHT!"
Oh, and...

Must run in the family.

An amazing soldier, but a dumb boyfriend
Like, on the field, fighting, he’s brilliant
its not to say he’d be a terrible boyfriend
im just saying he’d have no idea what to do half the time
like if ur upset he’s just like “um don’t cry 🧍”
*awkwardly pats ur back*
but he’s pretty much clueless otherwise
as you can tell in the series, he’s not good at processing his emotions
and if he thinks he can’t process his OWN emotions, just wait till he tries to process yours
ngl tho it would get to a point where he’s so good at understanding you and how you’re feeling that it’s like ‘stfu Eren you’ve got ur own problems’
like bros so invested in just TRYING that he pushes his own emotions to the side
on a random note
he snores like crazy
if he’s not awake that is bc if he’s awake he’s like being silly at fuckin 1 AM
either talking with Armin, or just yapping
or maybe practicing melee moves in the middle of the floor
or working out
Or snacking
you get the idea
hes also a chocoholic bye-

sweetest shyest pookiest gf ever
shes got so much emotional depth, but she has a hard time expressing it
but when she does
shell tell you the sweetest thing ever
or like give you the most thoughtful compliment you’ve ever recieved in ur life
and then she’ll get shy and run away
not only she’s like ‘omg why did I say that’
buts she’s also like ‘oh god I probably made them uncomfortable was that weird?’
and then u reassure her like ‘nah that was actually the sweetest thing anyone’s ever said to me’
and verbally she’s like ‘oh ok 🙂’
but internally she’s like ‘yay 🙂’
on a random note
when she’s nervous in public cos there’s a lot of people
shell subconsciously hold ur hand
it’s not like she’s like scared, bc u know she’s Mikasa
but big crowds make her anxious and the noise gives her a headache
so most times she just prefers hanging out somewhere quiet
like a boba shop or a library
And I also hc that she’s actually really good at drawing and has this sketchbook that she carries with her and draws in when ur at boba shops
And while you’d think it was full of quick doodles it’s actually all ART. (maybe I should do hc’s on each characters art styles if they have one lmao)

random hcs
he talks in his sleep
hes a thigh guy

but what’s weirder is when you wake up and he’s just staring at you
”hey”
and scares the shit outta you
like Jean he walks on the outside of the sidewalk unprompted
and he’s also a sidewalk karen
like if someone else is walking by he’s giving them a look like “try and move me bitch”
”you can’t”
My stronk scary boi
And because he’s old as rocks I also hc that he probably knits as a hobby
idk why, but I can absolutely see him knitting scarves and shit for Eren and the others (and u ofc)
like its winter and everyone is training and he’s out here passing out scarves he made 😭
Hanged like ”where’d you get all these scarves Levi?”

✦•······················•✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
AHHHHH
as a Hange Kinnie I’m not projecting whatsoever 😌
but they’d totally be clingy
in like the most extroverted way
yapping about you to everyone
till Levi tells them to shut up
They’re out there fighting titans like “you know y/n usually kills titans like this”
and Levi’s like “Y/N IS RIGHT OVER THERE”
Brings u pretty rocks
cant flirt to save their life but it’s the thought that counts 😌😌
random hcs!
asks the most random and way too personal questions
“I’m not gonna dignify that with a response” said a shocked and disgusted Levi
Hange absolutely points out animals they see
like, in the middle of a fight they’re just like “CAPTIAN LEVI Y/N!!”
and you both look over scared bc you think Hange is hurt
and they’re just like “LOOK THERES A SQUIRREL! 🤩”
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
𝐄𝐫𝐰𝐢𝐧
Tumblr media
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
we know he’s a gentleman
and I see so many ppl making him out like he’s “daddy”
to which I say
Nah
hes ‘father figure’ 😌😌😌
he’d actually be an amazing partner though
buys you flowers on a regular basis
dates might not be as often
hes a busy man you know 😏
but he definitely treats you to a date whenever he can
if you’re self conscious
no you’re not 😶
he’s got the most random, deliberate, sweetest, kick your feet and giggle compliments stored up for you
and he’ll tell you all of them if it makes you feel better about yourself
random hcs
another loud as fuck snorer I fear
but that’s heard on the occasion that he actually sleeps
bros obviously a workaholic so
he also forgets to eat
you and Levi have to remind him
when he’s not on the job and completely focused
hes actually kind of scatterbrained and loses random stuff like “where are my glasses” and they’re on his head 💀
he’s so old istg I love him so much

SMILING CRITTERS X BULLIED!READER
Scenario: you are friends with the smiling critters and one day, they found out you were being bullied (lets say there are (3) bully npc's in the cartoon lol)
These Cartoon counterparts seem to be a bit... ooc...
Warning: bullying, violence, "worst case scenario" added for dogday, craftycorn roasting, hoppy choosing violence and rejecting humanity, catnap being catnap, writing may be a bit sloppy and weird lol
A/n: this had got to be one of the most random ideas i had
DogDay
As the leader of the Smiling Critters and your friend, he tries to resolve this in a peaceful manner. He confronts the bullies with you tagged along and attempts to make them apologize to you and wants them to compensate by cleaning the school, canteen and the garden by a whole week.
Of course, the bullies won't do it, so he goes to the teachers to address the problem.
The bullies are punished and will have cleaning duties for more than a week.
Worst case scenario (because i wanted to /j):
If the bullies resorted to violence in an attempt to scare DogDay, he fought back and defended you. You ran for help but one got out of his reach and punched you, he bit the one/s he's fighting and rushed at your aid and barked at the bully. "DON'T YOU DARE HURT MY FRIEND AGAIN!!"
The bullies got scared and ran to the clinic but DogDay barked and chased them until they were punished by the nurse and teachers.
You asked DogDay if he was okay, he grinned at you with a thumbs up, saying, "Of course I am! I will never let anyone dim you down!"
You smiled at his conviction, you were happy that you had such a sunny friend.
Bobby BearHug
After knowing you were being bullied, she immediately went to confront them. You were so scared and you didn't want her to get hurt, but she reassured you she can handle it and winked.
Reaching the bullies' spot, she confronted them. The bulkies glared at you and you cowered behind the bear's back, "So i heard you were bullying my friend? You better pay for that. You must apologize to my friend, now" She hissed, crossing her arms. The bullies simply laughed.
Bobby didnt hesitate to punch the bully on his face. His nose bled. Bobby was a sweet soul, but she's a bear, a predator, a tough cookie to crack. "DO I HAVE TO REPEAT WHAT I SAID?! APOLOGIZE TO MY FRIEND. NOW."
The bullies apologized while trembling in fear. "You can go back to whatever business you are doing now," she said in sweetly, though, there was venom to it, "Dare try to bully my friend once more and I will make sure to tear your limbs apart, skin you alive and--"
You tapped Bobby's shoulder before she went on full detail. "Whoops!" She giggled, scratching the back of her head looking at you. "Now, GO HOME." She pointed out at them, "Please!" of course, she never forgets her manners. That's not very Bobby if she didnt mind her manners, even to her enemies.
KickinChicken
Oh expect this bird to not handle things peacefully, especially with you being hurt. You were away from him, doing your own things. He went to the bullies, but of course, he can't go alone. He knows he can't handle them so he asked DogDay and Hoppy to hop along with him.
Hoppy looked like she was about to murder someone... a baseball bat was with her. DogDay and Kickin talked it out first with the bullies. But when they wouldn't budge, Hoppy stepped in and handed Kickin the bat. "NOW, WHO WANTS TO GO FIRST?" He tapped the bat to his wing. DogDay was against it, but didn't protest, Hoppy was trying not to smirk at the bullies.
The 3 critters and the bullied were headed to your way. You got startled and scared but DogDay, Kickin and Hoppy immediately went to your side. "Now, APOLOGIZE." Kickin forced a smile at them, and they apologized to you.
After that, DogDay took them in for their punishment. Hoppy taked the bat back so that she can go back playing baseball with the others. You thabked Kickin for his action and he blushed, brushing it off as "nothing". You and him sat by a tree and watched the other critters play on the field.
Hoppy Hopscotch
"Wait--Hoppy!" Yoy tried to stop Hoppy from going to the bullies. But she immediately scolded you for being a coward for not telling her this, you explained they threatened you but she didn't listen. "THOSE MFS ARE NO MATCH FOR ME," she spat on the ground.
As soon as you twto spotted the bullies, she didn't waste any time and immediately launched her fists at them. Knocking them off guard. She didnt let any of them escape her wrath. And then she grabbed your hand to run and leave them alone in the open.
CraftyCorn
Crafty was aware of it. "Why aren't you telling me this? We're friends!" She yelled at you. You explained they were going to hurt you if--"Let's go to them!" Crafty smatched your hand and went to the bullies.
Before you knew it, you were corned by the bullies. Taunting and laughing at you two. At first, fear was on ghe unicorn's face but it immediately changed to anger. "You're bullying my friend! You know you shouldn't be doing that!"
"Oh yeah? What're you gonna do about it, horse piss? Your friend's quite a coward and seems to be undeserving to be here." One of the bullies taunted her.
"YOU INSULTING MY FRIEND SHOWS HOW MUCH YOU'RE SO INSECURE ABOUT YOURSELF, IT TELLS A LOT ABOUT YOU, YKNOW?" Crafty snapped.
"COWARD. UGLY. USELESS. TRASH. GOOD FOR NOTHING. YOUR BIRTH WAS A MISTAKE." She added. Then you two turned around and left, you can tell that crafty was so angry because of her trembling hooves. The bully targeted by Crafty's words cried while his other two friends mocked him for being a crybaby.
Moments later--"Ah! I'm sorry! I didnt mamage to make them apologize to you! Sorrysorrysorry--!" Crafty apologized to you. "No, no! It's okay, Crafty! What you said was way more satisfying," in all silliness, you stuck your tongue out. Crafty giggled and she went back to pher canvas, ready to paint another new piece,"oh? Whats that called?" You asked as she sketched out what seems to be shadows looming over a figure protecting a smaller one behind it, there were separated figures at their opposite side, seemingly the figure with shadiws protecting the smaller one from attackers.
"Oh this? I call it... 'Happy Snappy!"
PickyPiggy
Picky was uneasy that day. Ever since she knew you were being bullied, she wasted no time to gather all the trash and dump it anywhere where the bullies would have been to. "HEHEHEHEHE..." The bullies ended up getting scolded by the teachers for dumping 'their' trash around. Pickypiggy snickered behind a tree, watching them from afar. She was quite fast and undetectable.
The bullies bags' had trash in them, their armchairs full of waste.
Then she tricked them into meeting up in a corner, she had full trash cans up on the roof, Hoppy and Kickin assisting her. Then they dumped the pile at them. You took the chance to run and report it to the teachers.
The trio fist bumped in victory and Picky was grateful for their help. She went back to you as you told her the weird thing that happened to the bullies--while eating cookies together.
Bubba Bubbaphant
The smart guy of the group. He was devastated at the fact that you didnt told him anything about your situation. He confronted them in full glasses nerd mode on, you came up to him and told him not to challenge them any further. He ended up getting beaten up by the bullies, he wasnt able to fight. Good thing DogDay was patrolling the area nearbt you.
Bubba was sent to a clinic, but he talked to DogDay first for a special request.
The next day, "man, this room sucks." One of the bullies complained. "What are we doing here anyway?" One of them groaned. They were in detention for two weeks, "How are we supposed to go to our classes now?"
Just in time, Bubba walked inside the room, "Okay class, I'll be your teacher for the next two weeks." He sneered at them. The bullies groaned at him as he wrote down a hell of math on the board. "This is your punishment for bullying a friend of mine, bear with it, losers."
CatNap
And of course, CatNap. He was a sleepyhead of a friend, when he knew you were being bullied, he simply 'slept'.
By nighttime, he went one by one to the bullies' houses. Scaring them and making them scream so loud. He was giving them nightmares with the message of "VIOLENCE OR SILENCE?" This went on for a long time until they gave up bullying you and went on full silent mode.
CatNap still haunts them even if they stopped bullying you.

We all know Richard and Amsha were awful parents in DBIP, but here are some things that stuck out to me when I re-watched it:
(You may recognise this as a series of posts I made last year - sorry, I just found them and wanted to collect them all in one place! 😊)
1. Richard's insecurity over Julian's enhancements
Over time, I've come to assume that this was more in my head than in canon. But not, it's right there on the screen and it makes me furious. A long time ago, I mused that Julian's image of himself as "unnatural" might have come from the unknowing, offhand comments of playground bullies, but actually... from these conversations, I think Richard himself could well have described Julian's intelligence as "unnatural" during his childhood.
"We're not as bright as he is. We don't have your gifted intellect so we can't see the perfectly obvious." "You're so smart. You know so much that you can stand there and judge us. But you're still not smart enough to see that we saved you from a lifetime of remedial education and underachievement!"
He just cannot stand Julian being able to hold his own in an argument. His own intelligence is such a point of pride that he cannot allow his son to be smarter than him, despite him literally desigining Julian that way. He claims that genetic enhancements are nothing to be ashamed of - that, if anything Julian's "a little more" human for them - yet he's constantly putting Julian down for using his intellet in any way that Richard disagrees with. ("You could've done research back on Earth. I told you that five years ago." AS THOUGH JULIAN DIDN'T KNOW THAT.)
2. Richard's arguing tactics
It managed to surprise me, somehow, how it really is Richard instigating the arguments, with Julian making sarcastic reponses for as long as he can before he resorts to yelling. In both conversations, however, once Julian starts shouting it's made to seem like he's the one being unreasonable. And honestly, I don't think it's an overstatement to call it gaslighting.
In the first conversation, when Julian storms out, Richard calls after him "No, let him go. He can barely stand to be in the same room with us!" - implying that there's no good reason why Julian should want to leave (there is), and that it's Julian's fault for getting angry with them, rather than being based on their actions. He also repeatedly twists Julian's words, making them into attacks against him, implying that Julian is selfish and thoughtless ("We could go to prison, Jules. Have you ever thought about that?") in a way that's either completely unevidenced -- or, again, dismissive of any grounds Julian might have even if it were true. (RICHARD: You don't trust us? AMSHA: He didn't say that, Richard. RICHARD: No, but that's what he meant, isn't it? You think we're going to slip up, say the wrong thing, get us all in trouble.)
Later on, when they're discussing what they're going to do about the reveal, Richard tells Julian "You'd better change that attitude right now if you want to hang on to your career!" and "Well you'd better grow up right now or you're going to lose everything!". At this point, Julian's made it quite clear that he doesn't want to go through the courts, yet Richard insists on continuing to portray this as something Julian needs to do for himself, rather than something that Richard wants to do. And Julian calls him out on it -- "You mean, you're going to lose everything"... But how many arguments did he have to try to fight as a child before he learnt to spot Richard's blame is misplaced?
Other rotten implications in this scene:
the idea that Julian's being childish for taking the decision to resign form Starfleet rather than fight any judgement that came his way (it's not);
that even his "gifts" don't make him as clear-sighted and smart as Richard (gah, see part 1);
and through it all, again, that he's the one being unreasonable.
3. Amsha's manipulations
Oh, she's just awful. First off, it was really noticeable how much she forces Julian to hug or touch her -- the first scene in Sisko's office, in particular, when he's so clearly uncomfortable.
And then she tries to make herself into this mediator, but she's not a good one. She loves Richard -- she talks about his stacks of drawings like their endearing, she's very affectionate with him, and while she will say something if she thinks he's going to far, I don't think it's necessarily because she disagrees with him, but because she knows how he said it will send Julian away. But she also is, in a way, happy to make out that Richard is the "bad parent" to keep her position as the neutral, loving parent intact. She makes Richard 'apologise', she takes none of the blame for the genetic engineering -- once again, I am going to call this behaviour gaslighting. Amsha is constantly manufacturing this image of her own reasonableness and love for Julian as opposed to his father's tendency to fly off the handle, and this is supposed to absolve her of any reponsibility she has for neglecting Julain's needs.
In my view, Amsha only interested in making Julian return her "love" for him (and to a lesser extent, Richard's too). In that second conversation, she initially makes a small plea for him to "listen to his father" (causing Julian to physically move away from her hand on his shoulder) -- and then allows them to continue with their argument, until it gets to the point where Julian implies they're both unloving. Her anger clearly takes Julian aback; she's the one here who attacks his feelings as unreasonable and makes him back down into silence. And then her entire argument is all about her feelings. To paraphrase: "Watching you struggle made me feel bad."
Then she says this: "You can condemn us for what we did. You can say it's illegal or immoral or whatever you want to say, but you have to understand that we didn't do it because we were ashamed, but because you were our son and we loved you."
i.e: "I know you think it was wrong, and I'll even let you say that, but you are not allowed to think that we don't love you."
And if Julian has to believe that his parents' motive was their love for him, then, actually... is he really allowed to condemn them? Or is that just lip service, again, to make Amsha sound reasonable and accommodating?
4: Their 'apologies'
Both times after they argue, his parents then approach him to apologise/make amends. I've always previously assumed this was abnormal for them due to the situation, but I'm starting to wonder if actually this was quite a regular pattern that Julian grew up with. Both his parents clearly want to see themselves as "good people", and so I can imagine them feeling the need to make these lip-service apologies that --presumably, if he's made these same arguments to them before -- end up meaning very little.
Did he learn as a child that shouting was the only way to get them to listen, if only for a little while? Is he used to apologies lasting only for a short while before his parents return to the status quo?
There are imo a number of factors leading to his unusually impassioned defence of his father in the final scene, but I think this could play into it. Agreeing to go to prison is the kind of apology Richard can't just take back a few days/weeks/months later when he starts to remember how 'unreasonable' Jules was being and wonder why he agreed to it when he was in the right. I can imagine one of Julian's first thoughts being "what happens when he changes his mind?"
(Also, it has to be mentioned how shit an apology the first one was. "It's a stressful time for all of us and maybe I said some things I shouldn't have." MAYBE?? Fuck you. Really.)
[Heading towards headcanon territory: Amsha's behaviour, as previously discussed, is another reason why I wouldn't be surprised if the argument-apology model was frequent, because whether or not she's consciously aware of her manipulation, it's an excellent way to control Julian's feelings. It gives her the power of being the mediator; it puts Julian in the position of either accepting it and showing forgiveness, or sounding unreasonable. We never see his actual reaction to their 'apology', but we know they don't think there's anything too unusual about the hologram simply standing there - and Amsha feels quite at ease to reward her unresponsive 'son' with a kiss. Idk, but it seems like they expect Julian to reluctantly accept their apology, and even if he doesn't, they're now in position to absolve themselves of any reponsibility because 'at least we tried'.]
5: Their disregard for Julian's wants
I feel like the previous points have covered this to an extent, but there's a big one which, previously, I've managed to overlook.
At the end of the second conversation, Amsha, in all her reasonableness, finally seems to start listening to Julian. She's shared her feelings, assured him they love him, and asks him "What do you want to do?", to which he, of course, responds with a weary "Nothing".
AND THEN THEY COMPLETELY DISREGARD THIS.
AND THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE BASIS FOR JULIAN'S FORGIVENESS OF THEM?!
I mean, luckily for Julian, it worked out. But they had no basis to assume that Sisko could do anything, and they had no right to go behind Julian's back in the way that they did!
And this is something I've said before, but I also HATE how it's framed that Richard is going to prison "in exchange" for Julian's career. Why should Julian have to bear any of the responsibility for Richard going to prison, when it was Richard's choice to do something illegal that carries a prison sentence? But as it is, Julian would presumably be portrayed as unreasonable if, after this 'sarifice', he didn't forgive his parents and 'accept their love'. Gahhhhhhh. It's just another, horrible manipulation -- and while I don't believe his parents had that much power over how it played out, they must have been going into Sisko's office with some sort of similar agenda on the cards.
["He pleads guilty to illegal genetic engineering and in exchange you stay in the service."
Writing this post, and thinking about this quote, has started me wondering how exactly the conversation went down, because "I'll come quietly if you let him stay in Starfleet" isn't exactly a flex. Unless, of course, Richard has threatened to make this a very embarrassing, public, courtroom drama for Starfleet if the plea deal isn't made -- exactly the type of fuss Julian explicitly didn't want.
I know that Sisko's very good at making his case, and it might all have been his influence. But I can't help wondering if that was the only reason "Richard pleading guilty" would be seen as a good enough reason to acquit Julian, when whether he did or not, they now have evidence of his wrongdoing.]

Staring at the pile of rejected clothes by the foot of your bed, you groaned, burying your face in your hands. It was Saturday, and Karasu was supposed to be at your house in an hour, but for the life of you, you could not figure out what you wanted to wear on your date. It didn’t help that he was being so secretive about where you were going; when you had texted him asking about the dress code, he told you that anything was acceptable and then refused to elaborate. Apparently, according to him, you looked fine in whatever you wore and you were stressing out for no reason.
“Stupid Karasu,” you muttered, picking up your phone and deciding it was time for your absolute last resort. You hadn’t wanted to go to her, because if you asked for her advice, you’d also have to listen to the speech that would inevitably accompany it, but at this point, you were out of options. Before you could chicken out, you clicked on your best friend’s contact, video calling her and waiting for her to pick up.
She did so almost immediately, though she was very clearly in the middle of a workout, judging by her red face and the sweat dripping down her forehead. Recently, she was going through a phase where she spent at least half an hour on the treadmill everyday, and it seemed you had caught her at a bad time. Regardless, she grinned at you.
“Hey, Y/N!” she huffed out. “I was just about to text you, actually, so this is good timing.”
“Not now,” you said. “I’m having a code-red emergency.”
“What’s up?” she said. “Will going bowling with us and a couple of the guys later tonight help with it? That’s what I was going to invite you to. Don’t worry, Karasu already said he can’t go, so things won’t be awkward or anything.”
“Unfortunately, I’m busy tonight,” you said. “I’m going on a date — that’s why I called you, actually. I need outfit advice. I’ve never been on a date before, so I have no idea what to wear!”
“A date?” she shrieked before looking around, obviously embarrassed that she had reacted in such a way at her public gym. “I mean, a date? With who? Is it that guy I was telling you about, the one who thought he might have a chance with you now that you and Karasu had ‘broken up’ or whatever?”
“No,” you said. “Please, I have standards. You may think they’re absurdly low, but they do exist.”
“Then who?” she said.
“So, funny story,” you said, wincing and bracing yourself for the incoming lecture. “It’s actually with Karasu.”
There was a silence, but you knew that it was deceiving. It didn’t mean that she wasn’t going to react; rather, she was gathering her thoughts, processing the information she had received, and preparing her reaction.
“Karasu?” she said. “Like Tabito Karasu? Soccer player Tabito Karasu? Your ‘mortal enemy’ who you’re ‘so glad is finally leaving you alone’ Tabito Karasu? The one who you refused to talk to because you found him immature? You’re going on a date with him? And it’s tonight?”
“Spot on,” you said. “That’s why I need your help picking my outfit—”
“No, no, hold on just a second. How long has this been going on?” she said.
“Look, I don’t have time for this. He’s going to be here in an hour, and I’m just standing around in a bathrobe!” you said.
“Okay, show me the options while you talk,” she said. Figuring you weren’t going to get out of it, you flipped the camera so she could see the few choices you had settled on as you began to speak.
“One of his soccer teammates came to me on Wednesday and helped me realize what I had done wrong. Then he invited me to their game that evening, so I went to watch them. Once the game was over, I found Karasu and apologized to him, after which he asked me to go to dinner with him on Saturday — meaning, today,” you said.
“You’ve had plans with Karasu since Wednesday and you didn’t tell me? Also, option two is my favorite. It’ll highlight your figure the best, I think, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be super uncomfortable, and it doesn’t give the impression that you’re trying too hard. Perfect for a first date! Although, considering he’s only really seen you in the school uniform, I’m pretty sure anything you could wear would impress him,” she said.
“You make it sound like I lied to you about it! I just wasn’t sure if I should tell you or not. I mean, it’s not like we’re officially going out or anything. It’s just one date, and it could go horribly wrong. Most likely it will, considering how things between us tend to go,” you said. “Also, thanks! That one was my favorite, too, but I needed the second opinion, and I wasn’t about to go ask my parents for help.”
“Sure, anytime. So what, were you planning on only mentioning it after the fact?” she said.
“Pretty much,” you said.
“You’re so annoying. I need live updates as they happen, not days later!” she said.
“Okay, okay, I promise I’ll keep you posted from now on,” you said, setting your phone down so you could get changed. “Happy?”
“Super happy. I can’t believe you’re going on a date with Karasu, though. No, actually, I can, because I’ve been shipping you guys together from the start, but it’s unreal that you’re finally giving in and doing it! It’s like a dream come true,” she said.
“You’re seriously strange,” you said. “Like I said, don’t expect much. The most I’m hoping for is a free meal.”
That was a lie. You really, really wanted it to go well. You just thought that, if you squealed and gushed about it with your best friend, you would, in a way, jinx it. And you couldn’t afford that, not when you had only just gotten him back, so you did your best to maintain a nonchalant exterior, even though internally, you were freaking out.
“Uh-huh, sure. If you guys get married, I better be the maid of honor! I have such a good speech planned. You’re not ready,” she said.
“Yeah, I’m fucking not! We haven’t even gone on one date yet, why are you already planning our wedding?” you said.
“I’m a bit of a romantic,” she said with a dreamy sigh. “Hey, if things work out between you two, do you think that you can set me up with one of his soccer friends? Besides Karasu, there’s no one attractive at our school, and of course he’s always been yours, so I’ve never even looked twice at him, but I’ll really be jealous if you have a boyfriend and I’m all single and lonely!”
“Sure,” you said. “I’ll talk to him about it, though, you know, even if it doesn’t work out, you could probably ask him yourself. Aren’t you guys kind of friends?”
“Not close enough for me to ask him to set me up with anyone, and definitely not close enough for me to keep talking to him if he wrongs you in any way!” she said.
“What if I wrong him?” you said, only half-joking. You were more terrified of that, of wronging Karasu, than anything. After all, the last falling out had been your fault, and although he had assured you that he didn’t hold it against you, you still worried that you might one day say something that drove him away from you forever.
“Nah, that’s impossible. You’re always right, Y/N!” she said. “Don’t worry so much. Go have fun! Like you said, you’ll get a meal out of it either way. Whatever else happens, happens. How about this — tomorrow, let’s get brunch together. That way, if things go badly, you still have something to look forward to, and if they go well, you have someone you can ramble to.”
“That sounds good,” you said.
“Yay! Okay, see you then! Don’t text me too many details unless it’s an emergency; I want to be surprised tomorrow by the full story,” she said.
“Thanks for the help,” you said, blowing her a kiss through the screen. “Enjoy the rest of your workout!”
“Will do!” she said, hanging up and leaving you with just enough time to finish getting ready before Karasu was supposed to arrive.
When you got downstairs, the first thing your mother did was clap. This gained the attention of your father, who nodded at you in a crisp, paternal way which meant he approved but was too emotional to say it.
“You look beautiful, honey!” your mother said, pretending to wipe away a tear. “I can’t believe my baby is going on her first date.”
“It’s not that big of a deal,” you said, rubbing your arm. “Do you really think I look nice?”
“Yes,” your father said, pausing the soccer match he was watching. “What’s that young man’s name, again? Kimitsu? I expect him to come inside and greet us before taking you out, like a proper gentleman would.”
“It’s Karasu,” you said. “And no, why would he waste his time doing that?”
“Nowadays, the youth just text one another once they’ve arrived,” your mother said sagely. “I watched a video about it on social media.”
“That’s appalling,” your father said with a sneer.
“He’s not an appalling guy, father, it’s just more convenient that way,” you said.
“If he can’t even push aside his own convenience to do something so simple, then how can he be a proper boyfriend?” your father said. “You deserve someone who goes above and beyond.”
“That’s true,” your mother said. “But social conventions and whatnot have changed. You can’t expect him to do something he doesn’t even know that he should do.”
“He should’ve been born with the knowledge,” your father griped. You rolled your eyes.
“Father, please just give him a chance,” you said. “Anyways, it’s only one date. There’ll be plenty of time for whatever you’re talking about later, if it even progresses to that point.”
Your father opened his mouth, but whatever he was going to say next was cut off by a firm knock. Your parents exchanged looks before glancing at you in surprise; you shrugged, equally as taken aback as they were. All three of you crept towards the foyer, your mother shoving you forward and then drawing back to stand beside your father, giving you an encouraging thumbs up as you brushed yourself off and then opened the door.
Karasu was waiting there, a bouquet of pale pink and white tulips in his right hand. When he noticed you standing before him in shock, he blushed slightly, shoving them into your arms and thumping his fist lightly atop your head in reprimand.
“I brought these for you, idiot,” he said. “I hope you like them. I had my sister help me pick them out so that they were perfect.”
The thought of him going to buy flowers with his older sister was oddly endearing. Maybe it was the fact that he had gone to such lengths for such a simple gesture, or maybe it was the way he was standing so stiffly, like he wasn’t sure whether you’d be pleased or not, but something about the gift made you relax upon its receival. He was nervous, too; it wasn’t just you who was scared about messing up. You and Karasu, you were in this together, and you thought that it was a little bit easier to stomach if it was like that.
“They’re really pretty,” you said. “I love them. Would you like to come inside while I put these in a vase? If you want, you can meet my parents. They’re kind of intense, though, so apologies if they say something strange.”
“I don’t mind,” he said, stepping in behind you. Your parents immediately pretended like they hadn’t been eavesdropping, your mother busying herself with rubbing at an imaginary smudge on the mirror propped up against the far wall, your father straightening one of the paintings hanging by the door. “Hello, Mr. and Mrs. L/N. It’s nice to meet you. I’m Tabito Karasu.”
“Kimitsu, eh?” your father said, puffing out his chest threateningly. Unfortunately, given Karasu’s height and impressive musculature, it was incredibly hard for almost anyone to seem threatening compared to him; thankfully, Karasu did not point this out, only smiling politely and offering your father his hand to shake.
“No, sir, it’s Karasu. Like the bird,” he said. Your father shook his hand warily, and before you could die from the secondhand embarrassment, you escaped to the kitchen, pulling out a vase from one of the cabinets and filling it with water so that you could put the flowers in it.
“Looks like you’ve got yourself quite a catch there,” your mother said, joining you in the kitchen. “He’s handling himself quite admirably in front of your father. And he even brought you flowers!”
“He did, didn’t he?” you said, admiring the splayed out bouquet. “They really are nice.”
“He did a good job picking them out,” your mother agreed.
“Him and his sister,” you corrected her. She tilted her head.
“It’s nice to see that he values her opinion. That tells me that he’ll probably value yours, too, if things between you two ever get serious,” she said.
“They’ll never get serious if father chases him off right here and now, though,” you said, taking one last look at the flowers and smiling to yourself. “I should probably go rescue him.”
“Agreed,” your mother said.
You were expecting the worst when you returned to the foyer, but to your surprise, it was a heartwarming scene you walked in on. Karasu was leaning against the door, telling your father some story with great animation, and by the looks of it, your father was completely invested in the tale, his initially hostile posture replaced with his typical laid-back slouch. As soon as he noticed your re-entrance, Karasu paused, prompting your father to look over at you.
“Y/N!” your father said. “Karasu here was just telling me about how he started playing soccer. You didn’t tell me he was the captain of Bambi Osaka!”
“I didn’t think that it was relevant,” you said. In hindsight, maybe you should’ve mentioned it; your father loved watching soccer, and there was no doubt in your mind that he would’ve been much more receptive to Karasu if he had known that the boy was so talented at his preferred sport.
“We’ll have to continue this conversation at another time, sir,” Karasu said. “And please, if you ever want to come to one of our games, let me know. I’ll make sure you get good seats. Captain’s privileges and all.”
“Oh, you don’t have to do that,” your father said, though he was obviously delighted by the offer.
“I insist. Anything for Y/N’s family,” he said. You made a face at him behind your father’s back; when your father turned to look at you, you schooled your expression into a sweet smile, discreetly flipping Karasu off when he responded in kind and stuck his tongue out at you.
“Have a great time, alright?” your father said. “Don’t get back too late.”
“Text us if you need anything!” your mother said.
“Will do,” you said. “Come on, Karasu, let’s go, or else you’ll be stuck talking to my father about soccer for hours.”
You dragged him over to his car as he waved at your parents, who waved back. Only when the front door of your house was shut did you allow yourself to flick him on the forehead, causing him to whine and clutch the affected area dramatically.
“What was that for?” he said, opening the door to the passenger side and motioning for you to get in.
“You’re such a suck-up,” you said. “I can’t believe you talked to my father about your soccer journey for that long.”
“I want them to like me!” he protested. “Anyways, your dad’s a pretty cool guy. I can’t lie, I was kind of intimidated at first, but I think he warmed up to me in the end.”
“He definitely did, and you’re some kind of magician for that,” you said, still in disbelief that he had managed to charm both of your parents so thoroughly and in such a short time. “Also, flowers, really?”
“You said you liked them,” he said. “Did you not?”
“Of course I liked them!” you said.
“Then why are you complaining?” he said.
“I’m not complaining. I’m just taken aback, that’s all. Sure, I’ve never been on a date or anything before, but from what I’ve heard from my friends who have, the first ones tend to not be quite so…nice? Nice, yeah, I think that’s the word,” you said.
“To be fair, their first dates were probably also their first times actually meeting their partners,” he said. “On the other hand, we’ve known each other for years, so it’s a little different. More importantly, what do you mean when you say you’ve never been on a date?”
“I guess this is why you’re not number one in Modern Literature,” you said with an over-exaggerated sigh. “You see, when I say I’ve never been on a date, what I mean by that is I have not, in fact, gone on a date with anyone before. Should I explain it in simpler language so that it’s more on your level? Me no date. Me single forever.”
“That’s embarrassing,” he said.
“Okay, Mr. Playboy,” you said. “What, do you go on dates every weekend or something? Next you’ll tell me you buy all of them flowers, too. And here I was, feeling special.”
“Nope, I’ve never been on a date either, but it’s different,” he said.
“Why?” you said.
“Because I’ve just never asked someone,” he said. “I’ve liked the same girl since middle school, so I didn’t see the point in going on dates with anyone else. For you, though, it’s just because no one ever asked you.”
“How do you know I didn’t just reject everyone that asked?” you said.
“Did you?” he said.
“No,” you admitted. “No one asked.”
He snorted. “Like I said. Embarrassing.”
“Hey! It’s your fault, so quit it with the smug act,” you said.
“How is it my fault?” he said. “Oh, wait, is it because of the rumors that we’ve been dating for years now?”
“Yup,” you said. “People were way too scared of you to approach me.”
“Good,” he said with a smirk. “That means I did my job well.”
“Hold on,” you said, his earlier comment finally registering in your mind. “Since middle school? Who the hell have you liked for that long, and why didn’t you just ask her out sooner? It’s a little sad that you didn’t.”
“You’d think, given your grades, that you’d be bright in real life, too, but I can see that that’s not the case,” he said. “Obviously, I’m talking about you. Why else would we be going on a date right now?”
“Oh, right,” you said. “Holy shit. You’ve liked me for that long?”
He turned redder and redder with each passing second, his grip on the steering wheel tightening as he slunk down in his seat. You watched him in amusement, finding the shyness — which contrasted so harshly with his typically loud personality — to be sweet, in the same way a baby animal learning to walk was.
“Shut up,” he said.
“You should’ve said something,” you said.
“Considering how set you were on hating me, I don’t think that it would’ve done much if I had. Ironically, as hurtful as it was for you to fall all head over heels for that Yukimiya guy, it was the best thing that could’ve ever happened to me, because it somehow made you realize that you don’t absolutely despise me. I’ll have to thank him if we ever meet,” he said.
“You do that,” you said, reaching over to pat him on the shoulder. “Although, if you’re in the business of thanking people, you should reach out to Hiori first. He did you a favor, even if he had an admittedly unorthodox method of going about it.”
“He’s kind of an interesting little guy, don’t you think?” Karasu said. “Like, I want to study him and figure out how his mind works.”
“Aw, don’t be mean,” you said. “He was really sweet.”
“I’m not saying it in a bad way! Besides the fact that he pretty much hates soccer, which is ironic given that he plays for one of the best youth clubs in the country, he’s relatively harmless. It’s just that the way he goes about things is so peculiar, and I feel like I need to know what the thought process behind his decision-making is,” he said.
“That’s fair,” you said. “He told me he’s been observing you.”
“He tried to follow me home one day,” he said. “It was freaky. I thought I was going to get robbed.”
“No way! I thought he was going to rob me, too!” you said.
“Guess that’s an alternative career path for him, if being an athlete doesn’t work out,” Karasu mused.
“You’re horrible,” you said. “Maybe he has a rough home life and doesn’t know any better. You should be kind.”
“What? I am kind! I’m super kind! Why do you think he’s so interested in me? It’s because of the kindness that radiates off of me in waves!” he said. You glanced at him out of the corner of your eye in disbelief.
“That’s not kindness radiating off of you, that’s the scent of your hair gel,” you said. “Speaking of which, Karasu, I bet you’d look so handsome without it. Please stop. For me.”
“Just because you said that, I’m going to put on even more the next time I see you,” he said haughtily. “And for your information, it is hair wax. Not gel.”
“Right, because the difference between the two is astounding,” you said. “My deepest and sincerest apologies. I’ll do better next time.”
“Good,” he said.
“So,” you said after a moment. “Where are we going, exactly? You refused to tell me, so I had to make an educated guess with my outfit. I hope it’s okay.”
Luckily, the light turned red, so he could stop and look you over with a critical eye. He must’ve been satisfied by whatever he saw, as he hummed in approval and returned his attention to the road, just in time for it to turn green again.
“Yeah, you look pretty,” he said. “And I didn’t tell you because it’s a surprise. You’ll like it, though.”
“I hope so. I turned down a bowling trip for this,” you said.
“I turned that trip down, too,” he said.
“True,” you said. “Oh, wait, this is only tangentially related, but since we’re on the topic of our friends…are any of your hot soccer buddies single?”
“What?” he said, voice turning high-pitched momentarily. “Why would you ask that?”
“My best friend is in the market,” you said.
“I see,” he said, once again speaking in his normal tone. You blinked in confusion before deciding it wasn’t even worth questioning him. “Most of them are single, but they’re not the type I’d let within fifty feet of any girl I knew, so it’s your call whether or not that’s the kind of person you want to set her up with.”
“Absolutely not,” you said.
“I’ll keep an eye out in the future, though,” he promised you. “Wanna play music?”
“I can. What do you like?” you said.
“Anything you like,” he said. Not up to arguing, and also having a sinking suspicion that his music taste was probably something obscure and nigh-unlistenable, you decided you might as well put your own playlist on shuffle in the hopes that he at least liked some of the songs.
The two of you were driving for a while, mostly listening to the music you were playing and occasionally commenting on whatever interesting things you zoomed past. Sometimes, if a song you both recognized came on, you’d scream the lyrics at one another, each trying to outcompete the other for who knew the song best, but it was a lighthearted form of disagreement, more fun than anything.
In fact, you were actually sad when you reached the parking lot and he pulled into a spot, turning off the car and getting out so that he could open your door for you. You had enjoyed the drive so much that you had forgotten you actually had plans to go to dinner, so you could not help feeling a little disappointed — well, right up until you looked around at the scenery and let out a gasp.
The restaurant was by the ocean, and the seating was in an open patio, the ceiling lined with twinkling lights and flowers blooming in hanging pots. The tables were covered in white tablecloths, and the water was so close that you could hear the steady way it lapped against the sand, the soft hush-hush sound far superior to any random pop song you could’ve turned on.
“I don’t know what to say,” you said as you followed Karasu into the restaurant. He offered you his hand, and you took it immediately, your fingers fitting perfectly between his. “How did you find this place? I thought you hated the ocean.”
“Believe me, I do,” he said with a scoff. “Excuse me? We have a reservation for two. The name is Karasu.”
“Right this way,” the hostess said, beckoning you after her, leading you both to a secluded table in the corner, which was decorated like the rest with a candle and a rose in a jar serving as the centerpiece. You sat across from Karasu and accepted the menu that the hostess handed you, leafing through it and considering what you wanted to order.
“If you do, then why’d you pick here of all places?” you said.
“Because. Do you remember last year, when all of us were eating lunch together and we had that debate about what the best first date would be like?” he said.
“Vaguely?” you said, wracking your brain, trying to pinpoint the exact day he was talking about. “Oh, wait, yeah!”
It was uncharacteristically warm out, and so your friends had insisted on eating in the courtyard. Sadly, this meant that you had to beg Karasu and his group to let you sit with them, as they always managed to get the best tables before anyone else could. That day, it seemed that you were in luck — Karasu only glanced at you before nodding and telling you that it was fine if you wanted to join them.
Somehow, the conversation turned to dating and romance. One of Karasu’s teammates was going on a date for the first time, and now all of you were giving your two cents about what you thought the perfect first date ought to be.
“Definitely not a movie,” your best friend said adamantly. “You can’t get to know someone if you’re watching a movie the whole time. It’s totally unromantic and an absolute turnoff. If a guy asked me to go to the movies with him on a first date, I’d say no.”
“Harsh, but fair,” one of Karasu’s friends said. “Going out for coffee is pretty popular nowadays, isn’t it? It’s easy to leave, too, so if things aren’t going great, you can just pay and get out.”
“Getting coffee wouldn’t be horrible,” your best friend said. “Though I feel like it shows a lack of planning and effort.”
“I agree,” you chimed in. “I would like to go for a nice dinner. It would be really special if it was by the ocean — I mean, I love the beach, so I think a guy taking me there would show me that he’s really serious about me and pays attention to the things I say.”
“How would he pay attention to the things you say if you’ve never met before? This is a first date, remember?” your best friend said.
“I can’t see myself dating somebody without being friends with them beforehand,” you said, shaking your head. “I’d want to know what kind of person they are before ever agreeing to pursue something further. So, given that constraint, they should know things about me like my fondness for the sea, and if they don’t, then they obviously aren’t someone who I’d want to be with.”
“You aren’t even friends with any guys,” Karasu said, speaking up for the first time in that insufferable voice of his. You scowled at him; he grinned and held his hands up in the air. “Just saying. Where do you think this magical dude who knows you like the ocean and wants to take you to dinner is going to manifest from? Outer space?”
“I’m sure one day I’ll meet someone who fits my criteria, and then things will go splendidly. You see, for me, it’s a scarcity issue — there just isn’t anyone around here who I’d ever want to date, so I don’t even bother hoping it’ll happen,” you said.
“Nobody? There’s not a single guy at this school you’d go out with?” he said.
“Not willingly,” you said.
“Jeez,” he said. “Tough customer. You need to be prettier to have standards like that.”
“Ugh, you are just the worst!”
“You told me I wasn’t pretty enough to have standards as high as mine are,” you recalled. “Rude.”
“That’s the only thing you can think of? Really?” he said.
“Well…” You bit the inside of your cheek, acting as if you were fascinated by the menu. “I seem to have said something about wanting to go for dinner by the beach for a first date.”
“Mhm,” he said. “You said it would show you that a guy is really serious about you and pays attention to the things you say if he did something like that.”
“Are you?” you said.
“Am I what?” he said.
“Really serious about me,” you said. “Obviously you pay attention to things I say, but what about the first part?”
He furrowed his brow at you. “No, not at all.”
“Huh?” you said.
“I’m joking,” he said, nudging your leg under the table with his own. “Do you think I would’ve gone to all of this trouble if I wasn’t? Hurry up and pick what you want to eat. It’ll be so weird if the waitress comes and you don’t know what you want.”
You would’ve argued, but you were too busy feeling giddy about his confession, so you complied with his instructions for once. Karasu seemed surprised, so you shot him a smile over the top of your menu, earning you a blush which spread from his cheeks to his nose and the tips of his ears.
The food at the restaurant was as good as the atmosphere, and to your surprise, it was easy to talk to Karasu for the duration of the entire meal. You had been afraid that you would run out of things to say, but whether it was due to your shared history or Karasu’s naturally outgoing personality, you found that there was no end to the conversation.
When the waitress came with the check, Karasu immediately slapped his credit card on it, glaring at you so fiercely when your fingers inched towards your purse that you actually felt cowed.
“It’s really alright,” you said.
“I’ll come over there and hold your hands down if you try to pay,” he warned you, wiggling his fingers at you threateningly. You wrinkled your nose.
“If you’re going to be so stubborn about it, then fine,” you said. “Can we go down to the beach once she comes back with your card?”
“Do we have to?” he said.
“No, of course we don’t have to, I just thought that, since we had come all of this way, we might as well,” you said.
Karasu’s lips pursed into an uneasy expression, but he nodded. “Okay, we can.”
You beamed at him. “Thanks! I know it’s not your favorite, but I promise it’ll be fun if we go together.”
“Sure,” he grumbled. “Whatever you say.”
As soon as he had his card back, you left the restaurant behind, traipsing towards the sand until you were on the beach proper. The sun had set already, and the moon’s reflection on the water was like a silver blot, seeping into the sparkling waves and melting amongst the pinpricks of the stars. As you gazed out at the horizon, Karasu intertwined his fingers with yours, and when you turned, you saw that he was looking at you in much the same way that you had been looking out to the sea.
“I want to go in,” you said. “You don’t have to! I just want to dip my feet.”
“Alright,” he said softly. “We can do that.”
“Aren’t you afraid?” you said.
“Yes,” he said. “But I’ll try anyways.”
You smiled, kicking off your shoes and watching him do the same before he leaned down, refusing to let go of your hand as he rolled up the cuffs of his pants so that they did not get wet. Then, tentatively, he stepped forward, screwing his eyes shut as the tides splashed against your ankles.
“Why are you scared of the water?” you said, urging him deeper with a squeeze of your hand. He followed you willingly, though he did not open his eyes.
“I hate it,” he said. “I just do. I can’t explain why. When I was a kid, my sister took me to the pool and tried to teach me how to swim, but I cried and I cried, so she gave up. Pretty mediocre, don’t you think? But I can’t bring myself to get over it.”
“Do you think you’ll drown?” you said.
“Maybe,” he said. “Or maybe not. It’s the uncertainty that drives me crazy. When you’re in the water, you’re completely at its mercy, and I don’t like that. I don’t like trusting anyone but myself.”
Of course. The ever-independent Karasu, who was always so self-assured and arrogant…no wonder he hated the water. It was the one force which even he could not rise above, which could kill him if it wanted to, which he was powerless to resist. Being at someone else’s mercy went directly against his nature — so why, then, did he always give himself up for you? Why was he telling you this, when you could be quite sure he had never told anyone else? Why was he chasing after you as you pulled him further and further into an unknown territory?
By the time the water reached his knees, the currents swishing about around your legs playfully, he was all but trembling, though he did not otherwise protest. Working your hand free from his death grip, you waited for him to open his eyes, which he did with a swiftness that left you reeling.
He had an arresting sort of stare, you thought, especially in the moonlight — a kind of dancing wildness which defied explanation. There was not a trace of his typical mischief in his blown pupils when they landed upon you, only fear and awe in equal measure, mixing into a writhing shade as dark as the sky at midnight. An impatient breeze whipped against your face as he reached for you, and for some reason, that moment was what made you very, very certain that you liked him. You liked him more than you had ever liked anyone before. You liked him more than should be possible.
The tips of his fingers dug into your waist as he held onto you for dear life, and slowly, carefully, you allowed your arms to snake around his neck. Besides flinching whenever the water splashed particularly high, he did not move a muscle, though he swallowed when you leaned closer to him.
“Karasu — Tabito,” you said. “Tabito, it’s okay. Even in the water, I’ll be there for you. I was first in the class for swimming, right? So I’ll never let you drown. As long as I’m with you, nothing will happen. Do you believe me when I say that?”
“Yes,” he said. “I do.”
He was reaching his limit, though, and you could tell because he was shifting from foot to foot, eyeing the water warily, his jaw clenched at every ebb and flow. You nodded firmly and then twisted so that you could pick your way back to the shore.
“Let’s go home,” you said.
“Not yet,” he said. In an unexpected role reversal, he yanked you back, extending one hand to steady you when you stumbled and then, before you could comprehend what was happening, tangling the other in your hair, crushing his mouth against yours without abandon.
It was rough and tasted like sea salt, the way he kissed you, all messy and shaky and heady and furious. You were left breathless and clinging to him so that you were not swept away, his shirt bunching up in your fists, his hands roaming up and down your sides like a current.
“Now we can go,” he said, pulling away and flashing you that same cocky grin he always wore, though it was more hesitant than usual, which was either a product of the water’s presence or yours. “Yeah? I think I’ve had more than enough of the beach for the rest of this year.”
“Yeah,” you said once you had regained your wits about you. “Yeah, my parents, I don’t want them to worry, so we should probably — we should probably go.”
“Hm,” he said, resting his forehead against yours. “A couple more minutes wouldn’t hurt though, right?”
“No,” you said immediately. “Not at all.”
“Then what would you say if I asked if we could spend just a little longer here?” he said.
“I think I would say yes,” you said. “Yes. For as long as possible, I want to be here.”
“You’d say that to anyone,” he teased as you walked towards where your shoes lay on the dry sand. You shook your head.
“No,” you said. “Not to anyone. Just you.”
“Is that so?” he said. “Man. It’s hard to be around you when you say stuff like that. It’s hard to listen to, I can’t lie. If anyone else said something so overly sweet, I’d make fun of them.”
“As if you wouldn’t make fun of me,” you said.
“Normally, I would,” he agreed. “But I’ll make an exception this time. It’s our first date, after all. I have to act like a gentleman so you agree to go on a second one.”
“I’ll go on a second one,” you said. “And a third, if you want. A fourth and a fifth, even.”
“That many?” he said. “I must’ve done something right today, then.”
“You did a lot of things right,” you said. “It almost made up for the lifetime of assholery you have led up until this point.”
“I tried,” he said with a wink. “So. Where do we go next time?”
“How about you pick? You did everything I wanted to today, so it’s only fair if I return the favor,” you said.
“I’ll think about it and let you know,” he said. “Oh, and hey, Y/N?”
“Yes?” you said, looking up from where you were putting on your shoes.
“I didn’t mean what I said back then,” he said.
“Back when?” you said.
“Every time I called you ugly or whatever,” he said. “I didn’t mean it. You’re the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen.”
“I didn’t mean it, either,” you said. “You know, when I told you there wasn’t a single guy at our school that I’d go out with. Turns out there’s one.”
“Lucky fellow,” he said. “Getting to have the Y/N L/N as his girlfriend and all. He hit the jackpot.”
“That he did,” you said. “So I’m your girlfriend, then?”
His eyes widened. “Ah. I mean, only if you want to be.”
“Yeah,” you said. “I want to be.”
“Then I guess you are,” he said. You were planning on responding in a romantic way, but as you tried to come up with something to say, you happened to notice the time on your phone.
“Oh, fuck! My parents are going to kill me if we don’t leave right now!” you said.
“Not on my watch! I finally got you to be my girlfriend. There’s no way I’m letting you die now!” he said, grabbing your arm and taking off in a sprint towards the parking lot. You did your best to keep up with him, though it was difficult when you kept doubling over with laughter at his urgent pleas for you to hurry so that he didn’t lose any of the favor he had curried with your father.
Maybe your best friend hadn’t been so far off the mark, after all. Once you were settled in the passenger seat of his car, you pulled out your phone and texted her, knowing that she was probably waiting anxiously in her room for an update.
‘date went well. get started on that speech.’

How would konig react if reader left? like maybe without a trace n just disappeared cause she couldn’t anymore?
Hehehe... No one escapes König.
TW/CW: Can we just all agree that toxic!König is a trigger warning on its own from now on? I mean, it's the regular: stalking, harassing, sexism, potential killing(s)... also light angst (featherlight if you compare to the "cheating on König" answer.)
I mean, sure, he would be upset if he found out reader is trying to get away from him. He's not stupid. König knows he's built different (in more ways than one) and knows he will never be the man reader deserves. Still, he is fixed on the idea that they belong together. They are carved from the same tree. She is the moon to his sun, the light to his darkness. Wherever she goes, he goes. It should be the other way around, but if the woman of his dreams plays hard to get... Sure, he'll entertain her.
If someone approaches reader, König gets very territorial. Those poor souls get threats, maybe even some stabbing – this really depends on the situation. But if reader tries to detach or leave the relationship, he would observe this change in behavior with curious anxiety.
If drastic measures are taken and she tries to escape or make a disappearing act, König would simply do everything he can to find her. And let me tell you: this man can and will outwit anyone who doesn't share his background and training. So unless reader gets some actual, skilled, professional help from outside, she doesn't have much of a chance.
And when König eventually finds her, he would try to talk her back. Just persuade, persuade, persuade. Apologize if and when he has done something wrong. Shower her with attention and compliments and gifts. Beg, even – on his knees like a lovelorn knight. If reader says it's over and she doesn't want to continue the relationship, it would break his heart. But that would only last for a day or two. He knows who he belongs to and most of all, who belongs to him, so he would form a plan. König wouldn't get too discouraged.
He would simply draw his shoulders back and stay around. For years, if need be. After all, he already won her heart – he will do so again. He promised he would never let her go.
He would check up on her, be very suave and gentlemanly about it. Reader can always talk to him if she needs someone to turn to. They can at least remain friends, right?
If she answers his calls, he would at some point come over. Uninvited, yes, but just to pay a brief visit... See if she needs something. He is always willing to help should reader need something. A bookshelf needs to be assembled? He's on it! Reader needs a ride somewhere? He's already on his way. Whatever it is, he can do it. (He will show her how useful he is, verdammt noch mal.)
If reader tries to see others... uh-oh. König would start by threatening the possible candidates. No one would stay around for long to oppose this man. If they did, well, death sentence for them! Or at least a new hole somewhere. While he sort of knows that what he's doing is wrong, he also can't stand the idea of someone laying eyes, let alone a finger on her. He can't stand the thought of spending the rest of his life without her, because if she were to find someone new, someone better, he would watch that shit from afar and slowly break to pieces. And that's just not an option.
One slip of a comfort fuck, and she wouldn't get him out of her house. He would view it as a sign that you're back together again no matter what you tell him. Also, did I say comfort fuck? I meant mad, pent-up pounding that lasts the whole night. The sheets would be in shreds, reader would be covered in sweat and cum and tears and bite marks made in the heat of passion and frustration. The cuddles that follow nearly leave her bruised. König has missed her SO much 💞
So, the cocktail would be: hunting her down, harassing, stalking and "helping" her, bullying her dates... Our king would even resort to simping 🥺.
But König would only say he's in love. He will simply never find another you ❤️. (And you're not allowed to find anyone else either.)
He would view it romantic in a way: reader forces him to woo her all over again! As we already know, hunter/prey dynamics only give him a thrill. She must like the setting too. Why else would she do something like this? "Women and their games…" That would be his thought, accompanied with a shrug.

10 things I've learned about being a fanfic author over the last year
At the time of writing this post, I have been writing and sharing fanfiction for Jujutsu Kaisen for almost two years. This time last year, my in-progress longfic, Over the Threshold, started to gain popularity and, over the last twelve months, I think it's fair to say I have become somewhat of a BNF in the SatoSugu community... Sigh...
While every creative wants their work to be seen, there is a threshold (ha) past which visibility brings difficulties, and unfortunately I went over it (ha) in recent months. It has changed my fandom experience significantly, and not entirely for the better. While there have been friendships for life forged, beautiful memories I'll carry with me for the rest of my life, and more kind words and fanart than I can shake a stick at, there have also been opportunists, naysayers, and even outright bullies.
Seeing your name thrown around in fandom spaces with little regard for the real person behind the writing — for your character, for your circumstances, for your creative liberty — does force you to re-evaluate your relationship with your work and your audience. With that in mind, I thought I'd share the lessons I've taken from the last year as a fanfic author.
I really hope this serves as advice for any fanfic authors seeking more visibility on their work, and also generally encourages more thoughtful engagement with fandom creators. Let's go!
1. Writing for anyone except yourself is still a bad idea
That doesn't mean it isn't sometimes worth taking reader preferences into account. It's just about knowing when to disregard them. We write fanfiction for lots of different reasons that vary from fic to fic. Sometimes, making other people happy is a good enough reason to write a fic, as long as that's what you set out to do and you're under no illusions about that.
However, letting reader expectations creep into your approach to your other work in a way that doesn't serve your personal creative vision is a bad idea, especially because...
2. People disrespect fanfic authors even more than you thought
There are plenty of kind, supportive people in fandom. However, the unfortunate truth is they are vastly outnumbered by people who will gobble up your work without even taking a moment to say thank you for the meal and who will, in fact, demand more from you instead.
Trying to please entitled people who are impossible to satisfy, who bring nothing of value to your fandom experience, and who may even resort to bullying if you don't play by their ever changing rulebook is a pointless endeavour — so don't bother!
3. Your writing process is a constant work in progress
Because you are a constant work in progress. You can't always expect something that worked for you a year ago to work the same now. There are too many variables in play, not least your skill as a writer. If the stabilisers you put on last year are no longer helping, maybe it's a sign you don't need them anymore. Maybe it's time to take them off and try something new.
I am still planning a more in depth writing process post, but the simple truth is, my writing process can be summed up as...
4. Whatever works!
My main piece of advice when it comes to writing is always going to be, "at some point, you've just got to do it". Sure, there are tools and techniques you can use to aid the process, but ultimately it always comes down to you and the words.
There's no right or wrong way to write, and there's no point comparing your process to someone else's, because ultimately you'll do whatever works for you. Whether you're someone who religiously practises a warm-up routine before sitting down to write or someone who stares at the screen for two months straight before vomiting up a masterpiece whole (or someone like me who jumbles their way through with a slightly different approach every time), it's all good as long as it ends with words on paper.
5. Writing for an audience changes the game
For better and for worse! Having an engaged readership on a WIP has, on occasion, created unique and invaluable opportunities to elevate my work beyond what would have been possible by myself. I'm very grateful for the artist-audience dialogue that I know we all crave when sharing our work with the world but aren't always fortunate enough to experience.
However, being aware of your audience while writing also influences your approach in unhelpful ways, no matter how much you try to get around it. Ensuring that I maintain control of that dialogue (or, at the very least, a 50/50 back and forth) requires constant vigilance.
6. Community is a double edged sword
I think everyone in fandom is seeking community of one kind or another. Building a dedicated community around my writing and seeing real good come of it was an unexpected by-product of sharing my fic with the world, but a deeply rewarding one. However, communities aren't static and they require a collaborative effort to maintain.
Series come to an end, fandom trends shift, people move on. On the flipside, you build something so wonderful that others want to share in its benefits without contributing in meaningful ways. Seeing a community so closely tied to your work and your sense of self shift into something unrecognisable until you start to feel like a stranger in your own space is very hard. Furthermore, managing a community in a dedicated forum takes significant time and energy which could be spent writing, which is why...
7. The most successful fanfic authors are selfish
What I mean by "successful" is up to you. However, whether it's replying to comments, supporting fellow creatives in the fandom, or even tagging work for discoverability, some authors disregard anything that prevents them from getting words onto the page. Some people are here to post their shit and leave — and more power to them.
The more of yourself you offer, the more people come to expect until, eventually, the already generous act of writing thousands of words for your fandom becomes the bare minimum. This is often where the topic of "fandom etiquette" comes up, but fanfic authors are already taking on a disproportionate share of the burden simply by sharing their work in the first place. Anything beyond that is a courtesy we are not obligated to extend. We should thank authors who thoughtfully choose to extend those courtesies anyway, rather than vilifying them when they don't.
8. Guarding your enjoyment is paramount
If, like me, you're an author who does enjoy being an active member of the fandom community, then it's important to watch out for the myriad of things that can come between you and your stories. Fandom politics, or even just fandom trends, can have a huge influence on your relationship with the characters that originally inspired you.
However, what other people are doing with them doesn't need to have any bearing on what you choose to do with them if you don't want it to. Responding to fandom trends in your writing can be satisfying, but maintaining a degree of separation between wider fandom and the stories that really matter to you is crucial, I think. That being said...
9. Collaboration feeds creativity
Some beautiful moments have been born from throwing an idea back and forth with my fellow fans. Simple things can rapidly snowball into territory you would never usually set foot in, and expanding your creative horizons like that can only ever be a good thing! Being open with your ideas in fandom spaces is always a bit of a worry, but the reward for extending that trust far outweighs the risk in my experience.
Additionally, I think we get caught up in the idea of absolute originality, but if you're active in fandom, you're always taking inspiration from your fellow creatives. Freely crediting the people who have inspired me has only ever brought wonderful things my way, and I've even gone on to develop collaborative relationships with some of them. Fandom is more fun with other people!
10. But ultimately, writing is lonely work
No matter how many friendships you forge, you still have to retreat into solitude to write the damn story eventually. Writing doesn't lend itself to active human connection as much as art or music. You can chat to someone while drawing or play an instrument alongside another person, but when you're writing, you have to go it alone.
And the worst part? Even when you eventually share your story with the world, no one will ever care about it as much as you do. Writing is such a deeply lonely experience most of the time, I think — which is why it's so important to hold onto all the things that make it worthwhile.
And that's that! I have been stewing on all of these thoughts privately, but I wanted to share them in case they're of value to someone. I tried to keep it as measured as possible, but I acknowledge that I'm in a bit of a bitter headspace about fandom in light of the Discourse TM and subsequent harassment over Christmas.
I don't think it will stop me writing stories for this fandom, but I do think it will make me more guarded in my interactions with the wider community, and I think that's a shame. I joined this fandom as a fan first and a creator second, and I'm deeply sad to feel like some of the parts I used to enjoy most are no longer accessible to me.
This experience has certainly got me thinking more critically about the trend of fandom creators seemingly becoming more distant as they gain popularity. The word "arrogant" is often thrown around, but I think it's much more likely that taking a less active role in fandom spaces isn't as much a choice as it is a necessary measure for the sake of wellbeing and even safety.
Fascinating in a sort of sick way.

Let's talk about Yan! TWST!
The Yan that enjoys inflicting pain on you would be...
Tumblr media
Riddle doesn't see the charm of hurting you and so are his card soldiers. But, that doesn't mean Riddle will not hurt you dear, oh noooo, do you remember the time your guardian punished you with something that hurt physically? A pinch on your forearm or a smack by the ruler? Take that double-fold.
"Now now, what did I say about standing straight?" Riddle fixes your posture with his staff before eyeing you from head to toe, "I assume you've been good today, you are safe from the... unsavory punishment, I'd say."
Cater can understand the charm of it, I mean, he enjoys biting you every now and then playfully! Now Imagine what if he does it with a different intention, hm?
Trey is, hm, 50/50. Just like Riddle except that part of him secretly loathes the fact that he wishes he could do more for you but that won't do good. He is not supposed to act like this.
The ADeuce duo? They are wholesome babies who just sometimes enjoy bullying you, just sometimes! Maybe a poke and prod here until it suddenly escalates into something that actually hurts you. Will immediately realize that and apologize to you nonstop.
Tumblr media
Leona? You bet you got lots of bite marks and scratch marks! He treats you like his chewing toy and he loves it! Well, part of his sadistic side will sometimes take over and turn this into a much darker turn.
"Hey, come now, don't trouble me from having to find you, herbivore. Stop hiding unless you want me to drag you out with my fangs."
Ruggie and Jack don't really get it. Aren't they supposed to treasure and protect those who they love? Sure, the animalistic sides of marking might come every now and then but that's as far as it goes.
Tumblr media
Alright, the Tweels are right off the bat. Any kind of pain honestly, physically and mentally. You get the drill. "What do you say if we turn you into a literal shrimp? Maybe... bend your back until you look like one, shrimpy?" "Kukuku, that is a great idea though I am worried about the aftereffects."
And the person who would be opposed to this would be the Octopus, Azul.
He prefers his angelfish to be unscratched unlike those brutes after all (Though he understands why they love seeing your fear-stricken expression, it truly has its own charm.) "You two! Stop playing around and go back to work if you have the time to bother them! ... Hey, are you alright?" Azul will check on you and tend to any bruises they leave after they are gone.
Tumblr media
put that chain down! Real talk here though? Both Kalim and Jamil are on the same flavour but they leave different aftertaste.
Now I know Kalim is such a sunshine baby that is soooo sooo, free of threat and won't even have the thought of hurting you for fun. But what if he has no other choice but to do this...? Now he doesn't take any form of pleasure from this but what I'm trying to say is that he is not below from hurting you indirectly.
Take it when he feels the need to chain you down, should he let the others do this dirty deed or should he do this himself? The idea of someone else hurting you makes him sick but so does the idea of him having to immobilize you!
"I'm really sorry but I just, have no choice! I'll make it up to you, name anything you want and I'll give it to you in a blink! Everything... but leaving me... then I will grant it to you like a magic lamp..."
In Jamil's case though he just resorted to this method should his paranoia reach a certain extent. What if you leave him even though he hasn't done anything much for you at all? Should he charm you with his UM or... should he just straight up immobilize you and lock you away in the dorm, away from privy eyes? Or maybe should he shamelessly ask for Kalim's assistance in sending you to Scalding Sands for the time being?
"Rest assured, Najma will be there for you."
Tumblr media
The Hunter, Rook. Now listen to me, no he doesn't find any pleasure in the same way the Tweels do. Take him as a hunter, only wounding you to keep you immobile and that's all, he'd prefer to not wound you at all to ensure your beauty unscratched like a taxidermized animal!
The people who would go against this would be Vil and Epel! Come on now, really? He'd rather inflict emotional and mental pain than this! How is he supposed to cover the bruises, let alone if it remains as a scar?
"Rook! What did I tell you about not leaving any mark on them? Can't you just ever listen?" "Aha, I'm so sorry~! It's just that they have been hopping around like a rabbit so I had no choice but to treat them as one."
As for Epel, he just doesn't see the charm in causing any pain to his dearest darling at all. He prefers seeing you smiling and laughing rather than crying. Oh gosh, these sick fucks are questionable!
"Even so, you shouldn't retort to this method! Oh no... it hurts so much, right...?"
Tumblr media
Do not touch Ortho in the wrong way but damn this murder bot is on the loose. He will most definitely be doing the dirty job here for Idia like dude, he will stun you right on the spot should his system detect any suspicious movements and signs of doing something dumb.
Idia on the other hand is pretty neutral about this. Yeah, comatose, knocked out cold. Cool. You shouldn't have done that, noob, can't you at least make a plan that will allow you to evade Ortho's sight of view? Not like the phone he gave you will not save him from this trouble though.
"You thought you could sneak out of an enemy base camp that easily? You gotta at least watch the walkthrough from start to finish, anyway, off we go... to the enemy's underground chamber."
He'd prefer things to be as solace as possible so I think he doesn't enjoy partaking in this trope with these sadistic bitches. (He's just a silly meow meow after all)
Tumblr media
Lilia has a kink in marking you with his fangs and it shows~ That, is on the playful note, what about the much darker note? Moments when the fistfight you two share turns into an uncontrollable fight that allows him to cut you with his nails and punch you right in your guts, hard, until you choke out.
"Ah~? Sorry, did I go too hard? I forgot that your body is now just as fragile as a stuffed doll!" He'll shrug it off playfully while relishing in your state for a moment before helping you ^^ (Ah, he misses those good' ol days so dearly!)
Malleus, Silver, and Sebek though? They are shaking their heads at Lilia but can't say anything about it.
Malleus sees this as a way to keep you still next to him, maybe by spraining your ankle or slamming your head so that you are knocked out.
Silver on the other hand does not lay a single finger on you with the intention of hurting you, at all! Cinnamon baby! huhuhu.
Sebek? After watching Lilia and Malleus, he deems this to be some sort of disciplinary action! He takes pride in it while secretly pushing away the guilt of hurting you and the fact that he was enchanted by the teary sight of you.

HI GUYS!!! first ever tumblr post so excuse me if im being super super weird😭🙏🏻🙏🏻 but heres my bully oc AZIAA SULLIVAN! i swear i’ll make art w her on one of those bully oc templates soon im just a lazy fuck
uhh theres alot of lore for her, to keep it short shes a new student at bullworth a few months after jimmy arrived, shes japanese but the last school she got expelled from was also in new england, so bullworth is basically the last resort
shes pretty rich because her sister is a loaded bodyguard back in japan, and since that sister is her guardian, azia does get really super spoiled by her
soo azia started dating gary just before halloween without really knowing what she was getting into with garys lowkey unstable personality, especially since shes not exactly stable herself (i’ll have halloween art of them too in a bit!!) and their personalities constrasting eachother like that lead to alot of conflict that i’d have to make a whole post about just to explain parts of it😭😭
Shes diagnosed with bpd because of the past abuse she endured from her parents before they died. she takes medication for it, but since she also takes birth control the side effects really mess her up, which does explain alot about her
AGGHH SM MORE INFO OKAY so shes a manipulative little biatch acrually, using her looks and power alot of times with both men and women (in flirting or such) to get what she wants in different situations, which does get her in alot of trouble around the school, but since shes teamed up with karl from the prefects and gary too, she pretty much gets away with stuff if she tries hard enough
she has 2 other bully oc bsfs that she has her own little mean girls type of clique with (ily ava and mabel), after gary gets expelled and breaks the fuuuck up with azia out of nowhere, azia does get with one of those girls and then we have a little toxic yuri too in the story if it isnt already messed up on its own
SOOOO theres sm more stuff about azia that i wanna share but i have no idea how. pls tell me if ur interested in anything about her character or story or anything because i’ll spill about anything!! XOXO CUTIES💋💋

Mingyu- Seventeen.....Dark Side Tarot Reading
Tumblr media
As a Person
When I first tapped into his energy, I saw a scene of him having a complete tantrum. Screaming; yelling; pulling at his hair; just completely raging out. I also heard him say "fuck him! Fuck them! Fuck all of this shit!"
This makes me think that at a certain level of him being pissed off (which i do think takes alot for him to go this far), he can turn into a person that stops giving af about any and everybody. I don't exactly think he seeks revenge, but I do think he ends up wanting to take his anger out on someone or something. And he doesn't exactly care who/what it is. It's like getting so mad that you see red. This type of uncontrollable rage in Mingyu can be very destructive and just simply not healthy
He can be the kind of person to want success and money by taking shortcuts or not hustling as hard as others to get it. It's giving vibes of a person that would attach himself to nepo babies, socialites, and other well well off folk to get ahead. But I also see that in his blind attraction to just being in the presence of wealth, he could befriend scammers, criminals and people that lowkey get their money in more nefarious ways, while on the surface things look more legit. (This is an odd example but I'm getting reminded of how, in the past, corrupt South korean presidents would take bribes and gifts from big conglomerates like Samsung in exchange for tax cuts etc....). I can see Mingyu being this way if he falls too deep into chasing after the bag and keeping up with the Jones. His lesson in life will likely be "everything that glitters ain't gold."
To add onto this. He could possibly even get his friends to participate in these more sketchy business dealings( like promoting shady companies to fans) . Even resorting to peer pressure or guilt tripping if they were more hesitant to get involved.
Mingyu may weaponize his ignorance alot. I can see that in his love life, he could purposefully remain ignorant about things so that he doesn't have to put too much effort into a lover/partner. For an example, he could be dating someone and not know things like their birthday, important anniversaries etc.... so when these events arrive and he "forgets", he could just claim ignorance and be forgiven. "You know I love you hun, I didn't mean to forget, I just had a lot going on".🥺
Very manipulative person, knows how to touch at a person's heartstrings and weasel his way out of trouble.
Dark Things In love:
He enjoys the chase. Like a true aries man, he loves the chase. He loves the idea of wanting a person who doesn't want him. The dark side to this is.....Mingyu likes the fact that even when he becomes fixed on a person, their not the only one. He's like, " Yeah, I'm showering you with all of these gifts, love and attention, but I could be doing this to a million other women."
Mingyu likes arrogance in his partners as well (think Regina George) to the point of being kind of a bitch and low-key a bully. He likes that catty and bratty attitude, wants a partner that demands things of him (like commitment or loyalty), and doesn't concede easily. The only dark thing I'm seeing from this is that wanting this type of partner could lead to his connections turning into full out battlegrounds. Both parties are very stubborn, hotheaded, and in the mindset of "I'm right, you're wrong". He's gonna get what he asks for tryna wife up a Regina George.
Big Spender by Smiler and Lana del Rey is a song that fits this reading's energy

Sephiroth buys a Wii with Wii Sports. What goes on during the game when AGCSZ are playing together?
Things That Happen During Wii Sports, A List
• More specifically Wii Sports Resort.
• Cloud and Zack have the batshit insane idea of playing the swordplay duel blindfolded. They don't know where or who they're hitting, so Angeal ends up getting attacked by Cloud at one point.
• Genesis makes it all worse by narrating the duel wrong and making Zack think that Cloud is winning. Zack grows frustrated and attacks everyone in sight. They almost have to hold him down, but then he starts dueling with the wall so that gives them enough time to go grab a snack.
• Zack refuses to tie the remote to his wrist because it "throws off his game." Every time he plays bowling, he forgets that he doesn't have to actually release the ball, so the remote ends up being launched into the TV screen at an alarming speed.
• Already broke 2 TVs.
• Angeal loathes video game sports because he claims that going outside and playing the real thing is so much healthier. This means he also forgets that hes playing a video game sometimes. He plays frisbee golf, lets go of the remote and now there is a remote stuck in the wall of Sephiroth's apartment.
• Never have there been more arguments among a group of people than during table tennis. Curiously, Genesis’ breaking point wasn’t when Sephiroth defeated him for the 17th time in a row, but when Zack called him "Tenesis" right after his loss, leading Genesis to set the Wii on fire.
• Sephiroth bought another Wii.
• At one point security is called on them because the screams and fighting coming from the apartment during the group cycling tournament sound as if someone is being murdered.
• Sephiroth grows irritated at Genesis during archery, where he insists on quoting "the arrow has left the bow of the goddess" before every try, so Sephiroth bans him from using the Wii altogether.
• Somehow Genesis being told to sit out doesn't stop him from causing chaos. While they're watching Cloud skydive, Genesis bets Zack 1000 gil that he can't skydive from the 49th floor then and there.
• Angeal has to then grab Zack as he attempts to fling himself from the window.
• Angeal has a nasty habit of trying to coach and give his input during basketball. Sephiroth loses his cool at one point when Angeal is yelling at him to "DRIBBLE." Sephiroth unplugs the Wii and throws it out the window.
• Angeal is stunned at how petty Sephiroth is.
• Sephiroth buys another Wii.
• Sephiroth is enamored with the mother duck and her ducklings while canoeing <3
• Genesis gaslights Cloud into thinking there's more i points than there actually are during the island flyover.
• Zack has beef with the dog from dog Frisbee because Angeal loves that dog and Zack is jealous.
• They bully each other by making horribly inaccurate and insulting Mii characters.
• Sephiroth's favorite character is a cute Genesis Mii , but he's made his head 10x bigger and named him "Biblically Accurate Genesis"

May you bliss us with your angst ninja headcanons?
mainly kai pls
Sorry for the delay. You asked mostly for Kai's so I delivered. If anyone wants more hcs about the others I can work on it some time in the future (I also have more of Kai).
Now the hcs:
• All the ninja have PTSD from everything they’ve been through
• And abandonment issues
• Cole has an eating disorder and eats when he’s stressed, this is one of the reasons he is very insecure of his weight. People online poke at him for it
• Jay's terrified of losing his loved ones again because of him. That is another reason why he went absolutely crazy post Seabound, as he thinks it was his fault Nya had to resort to sacrificing herself
• He used to be bullied for living in a junkyard before becoming a ninja and that's why he was ashamed of it
• Zane always shoves down everything wrong that happens to him (e.g being the Ice Emperor for way too long to be ok about it) because he puts the team and their needs first.
• Nya has nightmares from the time she died in skybound but doesn't tell anyone.
• She had to keep her work and love life secret from her brother for fear that he would shut her down to protect her. Her fear persisted well into s1 and that's why she felt she had to hide Samurai X even from Kai
• Lloyd still admires his uncle despite his obsession with the green ninja (and all the neglect that came with it) because he's the only relative that actually took him in
• All of the ninja have at some point hidden an injury at least once. But Kai and Nya are the ones that do it more often (Nya specially when she was samurai X), and know how to treat mild wounds because of it.
• Kai and Nya do physical activities when they’re stressed or have emotions they don’t want to process. They can do their thing like Kai working in the forge and Nya doing mechanics but they usually train, however they can go on for hours (Kai has passed out a few times)
• Kai and Zane have a very poor sense of self. Zane’s comes from him not valuing his life and thinking he’s expendable since he can be rebuilt, ignoring all the trauma that comes from getting severely hurt or “dying”. Kai has problems seeing his worth as a human being because he’s never lived for himself; everything he does is for someone else and so he thinks his value resides in what he can do for other people.
• Kai is terrified of the idea of being alone, it’s his worst fear.
• He has THE WORST coping mechanisms and Zane is confused on how his body was able to go through all of them (Alcoholism, illegal fights, smoking…)
• Kai is an insomniac, he barely sleeps most nights and instead just waits until he passes out (He has very deep eyebags because of it but hides them with make up, covering his freckles too). He sometimes bumps into some other ninja at night since they all have fucked up sleep schedules.
• Lloyd also has a lot of problems sleeping because of nightmares and goes to Kai or Nya’s room where he feels safer (mostly into Kai’s). Sometimes they stay up at night chilling or they try to sleep. In those cases the nights with Lloyd are the ones where Kai sleeps the most because he feels safer too.
• Kai has chronic depression because of his fucked up childhood
• Lloyd thought he had depression too for a while but it turned out to be autistic burnout because of the stress of being the green ninja. But he can’t properly rest or heal from the burnout so he’s exhausted most of the time.
• When he’s stressed Kai forgets to eat and can go days with very little food because he’s used to it from being poor in his childhood.
• Genuinely forgot what it feels like to be a kid and have no responsibilities so it’s his personal mission to not let that happen to Lloyd. Kai would be devastated if Lloyd ended up like him.
• Kai sometimes feels insecure about his face scars and contemplates hiding them with make up.
• Kai’s touch starved but terrified of letting people in.
• He hides his negative emotions as anger and when the others try to reach out to him he pushes them away by getting angry at them until it's mutual and they leave him alone.
• Never told the others about what he did after Zane’s “death”. He fixed himself up, alone.

Hypocrisy anon here and I agree completely with your response, especially the tags.
I really hope a p:eg writer writes a fic about a Danganronpa character being plopped into Project Eden's Garden cause I feel like the dichotomy between them and the cast would be so good.
Like I could see the cast seeing Makoto as a complete anomaly with how optimistic he is even compared to Diana. With Hajime I could see many of the characters shunning him with Damon doing so too. Nagito and Kokichi I feel like would be even more wildcards than they were in their own games.
If Eva had been with any other group she either wouldn't have murdered or I think she would've won that Killing Game. The THH and SDR group were like so friendly and trusting of one another that each trial was a gut punch because they knew someone had genuinely betrayed them or felt like they had been backed into a corner into becoming one of the Blackened. (Aside from Celestia who was just straight up trying to win it lol)
I definitely think she would've won the Killing Game for THH if she befriended Naegi and still did her whole "I'm gonna frame someone else" plot. Only because I think Naegi and the others would have had too much faith in her T_T
Hajime had to vote for multiple people he actually liked so I don't think she'd have won SDR's Killing Game, but alternatively she wouldn't have murdered if she had a support group and seeing as the SDR crew were like legit besties even after the Killing Game, I could see her not resorting to murder.
V3 however, idk I feel like she would've lost. She'd have had to tell a lie so convincing that it'd trick the REAL Ultimate Liar, Kokichi Ouma and I just don't see Eva doing that. But I do think she'd bond with other characters in V3 because she wouldn't be the only person with an "unusual" talent. (That, and her ostracizing starts because she's the first to point out the naivety of believing no one would murder. The other crews I feel would've had more people who would've agreed with her openly rather than following some leader. That way she wouldn't be alone in her opinion, which sort of makes her spiral from the jump.)
Like Kirigiri and Byakuya would've agreed with her in THH, I can see Fuyuhiko and Peko backing her up on the whole "we really CAN'T trust people like that..." point, Maki and Shuichi would've also agreed with the idea of it etc...but in Eden's Garden the only person she had was Damon, and Diana agreed but not outwardly and she did just stay quiet for the most part T_T (i love Diana but I feel like Eva had a bit of a point, it's like when you're in a group of friends and they're bullying someone and you point out how they're all being kind of mean, but nothing happens bc you don't do anything personally to distance yourself from that kind of behavior.)
That, and the other crews didn't have a "leader" until like the very end. Sure there was someone to help lead the discussions of the trials, but outside of trials they didn't have someone who dictated what they did or when they did it etc. Like nobody was looking to Naegi or Shuichi or Hajime as leaders to make decisions for everyone. When Wolfgang was like "Just bring any suspicious clues to me next time Desmond" I knew that shit wouldn't fly if it was THH or something (Byakuya would've called him out on it so fast lmao)

Girlfriend-For-Hire ⭑˚🦋⭑ 𝟶𝟾
yandere!ocs x f!reader
yandere, reverse harem, yandere reverse harem, original characters x fem!reader, slowburn, slowburn yandere
Tumblr media
Hoping to try something new and earn a bit of money on the side, you join an app that lets people hire you for your dating services. The idea is pretty straightforward — you pose as the client's girlfriend for a brief period of time, and in turn, you receive payment. But you didn't foresee everyone getting so attached to you, and suddenly, they're no longer satisfied with a fabricated relationship.
previous | story masterlist | next
You honestly can’t believe how childish this bitch is.
Whoever her parents are, they must have done a terrible job of raising her, because you can’t imagine being a grown-ass adult and still resorting to what is basically playground bullying at this age. Seriously, isn’t she embarrassed? Doesn’t she have any shame whatsoever?
Actually, those are both stupid questions. Based on the shit-eating grin on her face, the answer is pretty obvious.
“So sorry about that,” Nadia muses. “Here. Do you need a hand?”
You watch as she reaches out to help you to your feet, but honestly, you wouldn’t willingly touch a scumbag like her even with a ten-foot pole. She’d probably just push you back over if you took her hand anyways. What an asshole.
“I’m fine,” you grit out, taking a moment to regain your balance and rise up. As expected, your tights have fully ripped at the knees. What a tragedy. After all that time you spent picking out a nice outfit.
Nadia presses a finger to her lips, visibly entertained. “Aw. You’re all dirty now. That sucks. But I bet a skank like you is used to being on her knees.”
You hear laughter, and it’s only then that you realize she’s brought along an entourage. Seriously, what is this, a reenactment of Mean Girls? You’re always baffled by the fact that certain women never grow out of their cliquey high school phase. She’s Callum age, which means she’s close to graduating, and she still acts like this? It’s truly revolting.
Honestly, the fact that Callum wants to get back together with someone like this makes it really difficult to respect him.
Speaking of Callum, it looks like he’s finished with his phone call, because he finally notices that Nadia and her groupies have surrounded you. He pockets his phone and walks over, furrowing his brows.
“What’s going on here?” he asks. “Did you and [Name] have something to talk about?”
“Oh, hi, Callum,” Nadia grimaces. She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and makes a big show of rolling her eyes. “Ugh. Why are you here? You’ve already ruined my mood.”
“Do I need your permission to go to a party, or what? I came out here to have a good time with my friends. Some of them are already waiting inside. And [Name] is…”
He drifts off near the end, gaze flickering downwards. You don’t realize what he’s staring at right away, but then he grabs you by the shoulder and blinks repeatedly.
“Whoa, what the hell happened?” he asks. “Your knees are bleeding. Are you okay?”
Oh. Are they?
You didn’t realize you skinned your knees along with your palms. Come to think of it, you do feel a bit of stinging, but you were too preoccupied with Nadia’s pathetic behavior to take note of it.
Callum’s relationship isn’t something you have much of a say over. It’s frustrating, but it’s the truth. Still. Just because he wants to get back with Nadia doesn’t mean you’re obligated to pretend like she’s some kind of angel. If she wants to play dirty, you’re more than happy to expose her.
“Nadia bumped into me earlier, and I fell,” you say simply. She glares at you, of course, and you flash her a sugary-sweet smile in response.
“Huh.” Callum takes a moment to consider your words, but it’s clear by the way his expression twists that he knows what you mean. “Wow, seriously, Nadia? You’re just gonna go around pushing my friends and shit?”
“I didn’t do anything,” Nadia denies. “She wasn’t watching where she was going, and she bumped into me. She tripped by accident. How is it my fault that she doesn’t know how to be aware of her surroundings?”
“It seemed pretty deliberate to me,” you shrug.
“Fuck you, bitch. You really like running your mouth, don’t you?”
You shake your head in disbelief. She must really underestimate Callum’s intelligence, because you doubt anyone would be convinced by what she’s saying. Especially since she looks like she’s ready to claw your damn eyes out.
“Man, you’re fucking crazy,” Callum sighs. He pats your shoulder and ushers you forward. “Come on. One of my friends said he can help us skip the line. He’s going to meet us by the entrance.”
He turns to walk away, and you follow him, plenty eager to leave this nasty situation behind. You cast one last glance over your shoulder as you leave, and unsurprisingly, Nadia is muttering something about you to her friends—something incredibly unflattering, no doubt. You even catch her flipping you off.
Some people are seriously unhinged.
Well, whatever. You’re not going to let this get to you or take it personally. She’s only acting out because she’s jealous you’re spending time with Callum, which funnily enough, is exactly what he predicted. You really don’t understand how she can possibly be upset when she’s the one that broke up with him, but you figure there’s no point in trying to wrap your head around it. Their relationship makes virtually no sense to begin with. It feels like they’re bound together by hate rather than love.
“Sorry about that,” Callum apologizes, flashing you a remorseful look. “It looks like you’re getting under her skin even more than I thought you would. This is why I don’t have any friends that are girls. As you can see, she gets crazy possessive.”
You press your lips together. “It’s okay. I mean, it’s not okay for her to be acting like that, but I can handle it. She’s incredibly childish. I kind of just feel sorry for her.”
“I wish I could’ve gotten her to apologize to you, but I think we both know that would never happen,” he sighs.
“Honestly, I feel like she’d rather die than ever admit she’s in the wrong.”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
He chuckles good-naturedly, but you’re hardly amused. Perhaps it’s unfair for you to get upset, but you don’t understand why he wants to be with her, even after he found out that she was trying to hurt you. It’s true that you and Callum don’t know each other all that well, and you’re technically only some random person he hired, but you’re kind of shocked that he would choose to be with someone who mistreats others. It doesn’t exactly paint him in the best light.
“So…” You pause, debating whether or not you should even ask, but you decide to bite the bullet and do it anyway. “I feel like… I have yet to hear you say anything good about her, and you seem opposed to a lot of the things she does. Can you help me understand why you want to start dating her again? It just doesn’t make any sense.”
Callum scratches his cheek. “I don’t really know, to be honest. It’s just something I’ve gotten used to. The thought of not having her in my life feels really weird, and I’m willing to bet she feels the same way. Like I said, even if some people in relationships fight a lot, there’s someone out there for everyone, and I think we’re the only people in the world who can handle each other. And just because we talk a lot of shit doesn’t mean we don’t care. She knows I’ll always have her back if anyone tries to fuck with her.”
You lower your gaze. As expected, you still don’t understand. It sounds more like they’ve both become codependent rather than anything else. You fail to see any genuine affection in this twisted relationship they’ve got going. You’re certainly not a relationship expert or anything, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that what’s happening here is wrong.
“Anyways, don’t worry about it,” Callum reassures. He pats your back and grins. “You’re doing great so far. She’s so jealous she can hardly stand it. I bet it won’t even be that long before she starts saying she wants to get back together.”
You shrug, very much over this whole situation. It honestly doesn’t seem like there’s much of a point in continuing to do this. Getting involved with Nadia is turning into a lot more trouble than it’s worth. Tonight might be the last time you help Callum out. Money or not, there are some things that simply aren’t worth it.
For now, you suppose you’ll wait and see how the rest of the night goes, then reassess how you feel afterwards.
“Oh, there he is,” Callum perks up. You’ve just walked past the long lineup of uni students waiting to get inside the frat house (all of which gave you rather nasty looks as you passed by), and you can see a guy standing around near the entrance, with his hands tucked into his pockets.
Callum walks up to him and proceeds to slap him across the back of the head.
Uh…
“There you are, fucker,” Callum grins. “What took so long? I tried calling you like a million times.”
The guy grimaces, massaging the sore spot on his head. “That was way too hard, asshole. I told you to stop doing that.”
“Aw, my bad. I didn’t realize you were such a delicate little flower.”
“Eat shit.” He jabs Callum in the ribs, then turns towards you and shakes his head. “I feel bad that you’ve been stuck with this idiot. He’s a giant pain in the ass. You’re [Name], right? He mentioned he was bringing a girl along, and I couldn’t believe it.”
“We’re just friends,” you hasten to cut in. It would be annoying if people got the wrong idea right off the bat, not to mention that Nadia would probably try to kill you.
Callum wraps an arm around your shoulder and chuckles. “Relax. I already told them that. They know I’m not interested in dating anyone besides Nadia.”
“Much to our disgust,” his friend scowls. “I’m Ezra, by the way. It’s nice to meet you. Even if you’re just friends, I’m glad Callum’s starting to hang out with some girls. Maybe you’ll be able to convince him to ditch that lunatic once and for all.”
“It’s nice to meet you too,” you nod. It’s a shame that he already seems to think highly of you, because you’re not even a real friend. You’re just bait for Callum’s ex-girlfriend to come back.
Man. When you think about it that way, it’s actually pretty depressing.
Ezra gestures towards the house. “Anyways, we can head inside. I already spoke to one of the frat guys, and he says it’s cool if you jump the line. Knowing the organizers definitely has its perks.”
With Ezra’s help, the guy in charge of letting people in steps aside and grants you entry. A lot of people boo you for it, and if you were in their position, you’d probably be kind of annoyed too, but it is what it is.
You enter the house moments later, and sure enough, it’s crazy busy.
And loud. And hot. Like, way too fucking hot.
“Smells like shit in here,” you remark aloud.
Ezra cracks a grin. “Yeah, it’s an unfortunate side effect of cramming so many sweaty assholes in one place. But don’t worry. Once you’ve had enough to drink, you’ll barely even notice it anymore. Probably.”
“Oh, joy.”
Callum and Ezra both laugh, and they stick close to your side while they push through the crowds of people. It’s been a while since you’ve been to a party on campus, and the last one you went to definitely wasn’t this big of a rager. You’ve always been a bit more lowkey, so this isn’t exactly your environment of choice. Normally, you and Ava stay home and binge movies together, or sing along poorly to karaoke.
Anyways, it takes a while to navigate through the chaos, but eventually, you find your way over to a group of guys—all of whom are throwing back drinks left and right.
“Yo, Callum brought a chick!” one of them exclaims. “No way! I thought you were joking when you mentioned it. Are you finally moving on from Godzilla?”
“That’s what we call Nadia,” Ezra explains.
You snort. “Yeah, that figures.”
“Guys, chill out,” Callum sighs. “[Name]’s my friend. You do know it’s possible for guys and girls to just be friends, right?”
“Whatever, bro. The details don’t matter. Just promise not to go crawling back to that crazy bitch ever again. She’s not good for you.”
“I can handle her,” Callum waves off, and his friends react by audibly groaning. All this negative feedback and he still won’t break things off with Nadia. He might seriously be a lost cause.
Ezra gently nudges you. “[Name], have you had anything to drink yet? Getting through this party sober might be pretty rough. Especially if we have to listen to Callum try to defend Godzilla all night.”
“Hey, I never defended her. I’m just saying she’s not actually as bad as you guys think. She can be chill every now and then. You don’t know her like I do.”
Callum claims to not be defending her, but he sure likes to make excuses. You suppose Ezra’s right. If you’re here, you might as well let loose a bit and enjoy yourself. You deserve to forget about school for a night and have some fun.
“They’ve got drinks over there,” Ezra gestures.
You look over at Callum, since he’s technically still your client, but he just smiles and encourages you to go along. His friends have already gone into full-on nag mode. You can only imagine how they’ll react when they find out Nadia is actually here.
Ezra grabs you an unopened can of beer from the fridge, and you tilt your head back, relishing in the feeling of the cold liquid running down your throat. It really is disgustingly hot in here. Probably because people are grinding all over each other nonstop.
“So, how long have you and Callum been friends?” Ezra asks. You watch as he takes a shot of some kind of hard liquor—you genuinely can’t tell what it is—then goes back to staring at you, completely unfazed.
“Not long,” you admit. “We just met around campus and started hanging out.”
“Do you guys have a class together or something?”
“No. We started talking when we ran into each other at one of the coffee shops.”
That’s technically not a lie, since the coffee shop is where you met Callum for the very first time.
“That’s cool,” Ezra nods. He reaches out for another shot, and just like last time, downs it without the slightest change in expression.
Jeez. Your liver hurts just from watching him.
“What about you?” you ask. “I only just started talking to Callum recently, so I don’t know much about his friends. Have you guys known each other for a long time?”
“Basically our entire lives. All the way back since elementary school. I swear, I just can’t get rid of that dude,” he sighs. “He’s lowkey obsessed with me.”
You chuckle between sips of your beer. Well, it’s nice to know that Callum has some solid friends, at least. If only he would listen to their advice and ditch Nadia. You’re positive he’d be better off.
“What are you studying?” Ezra asks.
“I’m in General Science. But I’m pretty undecided as to what I want to do. That’s why I took a pretty broad major, and a couple other sciences as minors. I feel like it’ll give me more flexibility when it comes to applying for jobs.”
“That’s cool. Yeah, I feel like specializing in more areas definitely gives you the upper hand and opens up more options. I’m studying Business, same as Callum. He totally heard what I wanted to do and decided to copy me, the bastard.”
Ezra shakes his head, and—much to your horror—decides to take another shot. Once again, his expression hardly changes. Honestly, you kind of have to respect it. It takes a certain kind of person to chug liquid poison without even flinching.
“You good with just that beer for now?” Ezra asks, raising an eyebrow. From his perspective, having one tiny little beer may as well be no different than drinking water, but you know your limits, and it’s probably best to take things slow.
“I’m fine,” you nod. “I’ll drink more later. I like to take my time.”
“Yeah, that’s fair. Well, we can always come back later. Let’s go see what the other guys are up to.”
As it turns out, the other guys have mostly split up. You spot a few of them trying their luck with some girls they met. Callum did say that most of his friends were single, after all, and everyone knows that a frat party is basically just a breeding ground for hookups. Messy hookups that will undoubtedly end in regret, but hookups all the same.
Some of the guys have stayed behind and are still laughing in their little circle, but you don’t see Callum amongst them.
“Where’d Callum go?” you ask.
You receive a few disoriented shrugs in response. “No clue. He was here just a second ago. I think. I’m not sure. I’m actually starting to get pretty drunk.”
“Lightweights,” Ezra scoffs. He nudges his chin in your direction. “Come on, [Name]. Let’s go find that dipshit. Knowing him, he probably got lost and is crying for help.”
“Sure,” you muse. “That definitely sounds like something he’d do.”
“What, you mean you didn’t know? That guy’s a total crybaby. Seriously, you have to take my word for it.”
You know that guys love to joke around with their friends, and from what you can tell, Ezra and Callum are definitely on good terms. It sort of reminds you of how you are with Ava. You’ve known her for ages too. It’s the kind of friendship that lasts a lifetime.
Ezra does his best to keep people from accidentally elbowing you in the face while you push through the crowds again. Almost everyone is sloppy drunk, some even to the point of nearly passing out. You’re willing to bet that Ezra’s had more to drink than half these people, yet he shows absolutely no sign of being affected.
“I knew it was going to be busy, but this is still kind of insane,” you admit. “I wonder how long it’ll take for all those people waiting outside to get in—”
“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me.”
For the first time all night, Ezra’s mellow expression has just done a full one-eighty. It has nothing to do with all the alcohol he’s consumed, but based on how disgusted he looks right now, you would think he just chugged a whole bottle of tequila.
And once you follow his line of sight, you realize exactly why that is.
“Well, looks like we found Callum,” you sigh.
He’s with Nadia. Honestly, it doesn’t even surprise you. His plan was to get back together with her, after all. It’s kind of crazy how they naturally migrated to one another, and it hasn’t even been that long since you got here. Actually, how did she even get inside so fast? Last you checked, she was near the back of the line. She must also have some connections. Or maybe she threatened to beat the shit out of the guy blocking the door. That’s the more likely explanation.
“This asshole seriously never learns,” Ezra mutters in distaste.
You stare at Callum. It’s true that he wants to get back with Nadia, but the conversation they’re having right now doesn’t appear to be amicable in the slightest. You can actually just vaguely hear her yelling, and that’s an impressive feat, since the music is blasting loud enough to burst your eardrums.
Trouble in paradise? No way. But they have such a healthy relationship!
You chuckle briefly, amused by the sarcasm of your own thoughts. Ezra, however, isn’t in a humorous mood.
He narrows his eyes. “Alright, fuck it. I’m stepping in. He’s out of control.”
You try to protest, but he grabs your hand and starts pulling you along before you can say anything. Seriously, you do not want to be here right now. It hasn’t even been that long since you had to deal with her antics. Ideally, you were hoping not to have to see her again for the rest of the night.
But it’s too late. Ezra is charging ahead at full-force, and at this point, you’re just along for the ride.
“Will you cut this shit out already?” he snaps, forcing himself in between Callum and Nadia. The latter openly gapes at him, of course, looking offended beyond belief.
“Ezra?” Callum blinks. “Yo, chill. Why are you so mad all of a sudden—”
“Are you seriously asking me why I’m mad? When you keep making the same shitty decisions over and over again?”
“Excuse me?” Nadia scoffs. “What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”
Ezra turns towards her, and it’s clear from the look in his eyes that he’s all out of patience.
“I’m talking about you,” he grits out. “You’re the shitty decision he keeps making. You’re like a fucking parasite, always sucking the life out of him. When will you give it a damn rest? Aren’t you tired of fucking with his head? If you genuinely cared about him at all, you would realize that you’re ruining his goddamn life, and you need to leave.”
Nadia clenches her jaw. She looks like she’s just about ready to explode, but regardless of what Ezra has to say, he still isn’t the person she resents the most in this situation.
The moment she locks eyes with you, that much is abundantly clear.
“Oh, fuck off!” she screams. “Why the hell are you everywhere I go?!”
You slowly back away from her. “Uh, you saw me go in the house earlier. Honestly, I’m not sure why you’re so surprised…”
You’re starting to wish you hadn’t followed Ezra. It’s clear that this is a recipe for disaster. If Nadia was angry earlier, now she’s basically livid.
You’ve seen enough trashy teen movies to know where this is going.
“Bitches like you make me sick,” Nadia seethes. “You think I’m stupid? Do you think I don’t know that you’re trying to get into Callum’s pants? Pretending to be his friend and shit. Yeah, right. You’re basically begging for his dick, and it couldn’t be more obvious.”
Ezra steps in front of you. His glare has since deepened tenfold.
“Hey,” he warns. “Watch your fucking mouth. I’m the one that has a problem with you. Leave her out of it. You’re embarrassing yourself.”
She ignores him, because already, she’s decided that you’re Public Enemy No. 1. Her jealousy and insecurity have completely clouded all sense of reason.
Taking this job was a massive fucking mistake.
“I’m gonna fucking kill you,” she says, spitting pure venom your way. “You stupid, disgusting bimbo. Do you think I’m kidding? Do you think it’s funny making a move on someone else’s boyfriend?”
You blink in disbelief. “What the fuck? First off, you broke up with him. And secondly, I already told you that we’re just friends, for god’s sake! How delusional can you be—”
The rest of the words don’t make it out of your mouth. Before you can even process what’s happening, there’s a sharp, ringing noise in your ears, and your vision blurs for a few moments, stunning you to silence.
It’s only after a few seconds have passed that you feel the hot, blistering pain on your cheek.
This bitch seriously just slapped you.
You don’t know how to react. Granted, it hurts, but the pain is nothing compared to the shock, not to mention the feeling of sheer embarrassment. Everyone is looking at you. The music is still blaring overhead, but Nadia’s manic state is enough to have drawn countless eyes your way. You know it’s serious, because even the people that are nearly blackout drunk have stopped to stare incredulously.
This has got to be a joke.
“You’re seriously fucked in the head,” you grimace.
And then you leave. You have to leave, because if not, you’ll probably lose control of yourself and beat the ever-loving shit out of Nadia. It actually takes all your strength not to retaliate right then and there, but through repeated, frantic breaths, you somehow manage to hold it together.
Just barely, though.
“What the actual shit is wrong with that maniac?!”
The second you step outside the house, you let out the loudest scream of your life. It’s so visceral that you didn’t even know you were capable of reaching such volumes. There are still some people waiting in line, and they all look at you as if you’re utterly deranged. At this point, you’re too fed up to even care.
Overwhelmed with anger and emotion, you drop to your knees and bite back another scream. As much as you resent Nadia for being a disgusting, pathetic excuse for a human being, you’re even more frustrated with yourself. You shouldn’t have gotten involved in this in the first place. Sure, the pay is pretty good, and you deluded yourself into thinking you would be helping Callum out, in a way, but you should have known from the moment you met Nadia that it wasn’t going to be worth it.
You feel outraged. You feel stupid. You feel like ripping your fucking hair out.
And to make matters even worse, the person who follows you out of the house isn’t Callum, but rather, Ezra.
“[Name]!” he exclaims, rushing over to you. He sees you basically curled up in a ball and biting your thumb, and immediately sits down next to you. “Holy shit, are you okay? I’m so sorry that happened to you. It’s my fault for antagonizing her. I didn’t realize she was already so angry with you, and I just made things a million times worse. Do you need anything? I’m sure they have a first aid kit inside the house, so I can—”
“Don’t. Just don’t.”
You furiously shake your head. Tears are threatening to stream down your cheeks, one of which is already starting to swell up. But no, you refuse to cry because of Nadia. You refuse to give her that satisfaction. The way she conducts herself is a fucking disgrace. She’s a grown woman who’s still got her head stuck up her own ass.
She may have slapped you in front of countless people and humiliated you in the process, but ultimately, you didn’t lose, because you didn’t sink to her level. You didn’t lash out and resort to the same miserable behavior. Even if you want to beat the shit out of her—dear lord do you want to beat the shit out of her—you’re better than that. You know you are.
And you’re also better than this crapfest of a job, which you’re sure as hell never going to take part in ever again.
“I’m so sorry,” Ezra breathes. His expression is laden with guilt, even though he’s not the cause of your misery. You made a poor decision and didn’t realize what you were getting yourself into. At least now, you know better.
“It’s not your fault,” you say, wincing as you cradle your throbbing cheek. “I… I should have just stayed away from her to begin with. I guess I overestimated what I was comfortable with. Getting involved with Callum was a mistake.”
Ezra gently places his hand on your shoulder. “Hey. I know it’s frustrating, but you can’t let her get in between your friendship with Callum. She’s always trying to control everything he does, and the people he hangs out with. She’s tried to get him to stop being friends with me too many times to even count. I know she’s awful, and I just can’t fucking understand why he always goes back to her. But please keep being friends with him. You seem like a good person. I think he really needs more people like you in his life, to help him realize that he can do so much better than that trashy Godzilla.”
You blink tiredly.
It wasn’t even a real friendship, though. He paid me to spend time with him. There’s literally no reason for me to keep doing this. And besides…
“He’ll always pick Nadia,” you mutter. “Even if she slaps me across the face. Even if she calls me a skank and says all kinds of horrible shit. I can’t be friends with someone who stands around and watches while I’m treated like trash. You seem like a nice guy, and I’m glad you’re genuinely trying to look out for Callum, but I just don’t think this is any good for me.”
Ezra’s eyes fill with sadness. You can tell that he wants to help Callum, in any way he can, but some people just don’t want help. They refuse to admit they’re in the wrong or try to fix their ways. It feels like that’s what kind of person Callum is. The kind of person that will never change.
So, fuck it. You gave it a shot. It was an unwinnable situation from the very beginning. You were just too naive to realize it.
“Again, I really am sorry,” Ezra mumbles. He hesitates for a moment, then reaches out to gently brush his thumb across your cheek. “Is there anything I can do? Are you sure you don’t need first aid? I just realized your knees are scraped up too. Is that also because of Nadia?”
You nod weakly. “It’s fine. There’s really no reason for you to apologize. You were just trying to intervene and help your friend. But either way, I’m done. Hopefully she’ll leave me the fuck alone now that I won’t have anything to do with Callum.”
It’s obvious that he wants to try and convince you to give Callum a second chance, but out of respect for your feelings, he holds back.
“So… you’re really leaving?” Ezra asks.
“Yeah. The entire night’s been ruined. There’s no chance I’m going back in there after what happened.”
“I get it. Which way are you headed? Let me at least walk with you,” he offers.
“Thanks, but I don’t live on campus. It’s no big deal, though. My friend and her boyfriend already agreed to pick me up tonight, so I’ll just give them a call earlier than planned.”
“You don’t need anyone to stay with you until they get here? It’s still pretty late. I’m just a bit worried about leaving you alone.”
“I really appreciate the offer, but I’m alright.” You offer him a weak, half-hearted attempt at a smile. “I think I’d prefer to be alone for a bit and cool my head. I’m still kind of rattled, and I’d rather not take my anger out on you.”
His head droops a bit. “Oh. Okay. I guess I can’t really blame you. Just be careful, alright? Watch out for yourself until your friends get here.”
“I will,” you reassure. It actually sucks that Nadia had to sour your mood, because Ezra seems like a pretty cool guy, and you would’ve liked to hang out with him a bit more.
“Would it be okay if I got your number?” Ezra asks.
It’s as if he’s just read your mind. You briefly contemplate turning him down, since he’s friends with Callum and you don’t want to get sucked back into this whole mess all over again, but it’s not like you can’t hang out with just Ezra.
“Alright,” you nod. “But I meant what I said earlier. I don’t want to be involved with Callum anymore, so please don’t push for it to happen.”
“I won’t,” he reassures. “I just think you’re pretty cool and I want to keep talking to you. Don’t worry. Nadia usually avoids me like the plague, so odds are you won’t run into her if you’re with me.”
You suppose one silver lining in this fucked up situation is that you might have just made an actual friend. That’s something to take comfort in, at least.
You swap numbers, and Ezra apologizes again for how the evening turned out—even though you keep assuring him it’s not his fault.
Then, you turn to leave.
“...[Name], wait!”
You’re already walking away, but a familiar voice makes you freeze mid-step. You can feel your anger flaring up again, despite your best efforts to stay calm.
Callum runs up to you, visibly out of breath. “Sh-Shit. I thought you already left. Listen, I’m really sorry about what happened with—”
“I’m fine.”
Your reply is blunt, and the cold look in your eyes is a sharp contrast to the words you just uttered. Callum may be an insensitive prick, but even he knows that you’re not actually fine.
Still, he must think that he can salvage the situation, because he chuckles weakly and scratches his head.
“Nadia went too far,” he admits. “I could tell that she was jealous of you, but I really didn’t expect her to react like that. She’s really bad at controlling her anger. I promise I had no idea she’d do that.”
“And that’s supposed to make it okay?”
You glare at him. The fact that he didn’t even try to step in to defend you already speaks volumes. You’ve only just met Ezra for the first time tonight, but at least he tried to put Nadia in her place, and he ran out after you immediately.
Callum doesn’t care about you. But you suppose you’re partly to blame, since you expected that he would have some standards. You realize he isn’t completely responsible for Nadia’s behavior, but how many times does she have to fuck you over until he realizes what an asshole she is?
You’re upset, and justifiably so. Callum will forgive all of Nadia’s transgressions, no matter how severe.
There’s no point in wasting your time on someone who will never give a shit about you.
“Just forget it. I don’t have the patience to keep putting up with this.”
Tears fill your eyes, and this time, you can’t quite seem to keep them from falling. It’s a mixture of shame and frustration. You just want to get the hell out of here and go be with your real friends.
Callum blinks. “Huh? Wait, what do you mean? I said I was sorry. I won’t let her do that to you ever again. From now on, I’ll make sure that I stay in between the two of you, so—”
“You still don’t get it,” you scowl, wiping your tears with the back of your hand. “I’m saying I’m done with this. You’re a shitty friend, and the only person you care about is your bitch of an ex. Stop wasting my time. I’m seriously not in the mood.”
You leave before he can think of a response, and the first thing you do is block him on the fake dating app. You don’t even want his money anymore. You can’t believe you were spineless enough to ever accept it in the first place.
Callum watches your figure fade into the distance, gaping all the while. He can’t seem to process what just happened. You were all having such a good time earlier, and now you’re saying you want nothing to do with him?
Ezra scoffs. “Man, you’re such a dick. Meeting Nadia was the worst thing to ever happen to you. Sometimes I can’t even believe we’re friends.”
Just as you did a few moments ago, Ezra walks away without looking back. Callum is left to stand there on his own, still struggling to make sense of everything.
“Me?” he mumbles in disbelief. “I’m the dick?”
He lowers his gaze to the ground. Something feels off, and it’s strange, because it’s not the first time Nadia has acted out in public. She’s always starting some kind of drama. It’s not even the first time she’s slapped someone. Back when they were dating, she got into full-blown catfights with other girls a few times, even resorting to scratching, hair-pulling, and all that other nonsense.
If he’s being honest, he thought it was kind of funny watching those crazy bitches go at each other’s throats. He didn’t really care much. He’s always known Nadia is a loose cannon, and somewhere along the line, he made peace with it. Besides, it’s not like she’s ever tried to stab anyone or some shit. She’s not that deranged.
That’s why it’s so weird. Seeing your teary-eyed expression, and the sheer look of hurt on your face… it made his chest feel tight. The discomfort is still there, even now.
Callum’s gotten annoyed with Nadia plenty of times before. She’s a pain in the ass to deal with, but she has some kind of hold on him that he can’t deny. No matter what happens, they always end up being drawn to each other, one way or another. If he fucks up, she’ll bitch about it, but ultimately, she’ll forgive him. And if she fucks up, he’ll do the exact same.
For a long time, he believed that was love. So then, why does he feel so shitty right now? Nadia is teeming with jealousy. His plan worked. It won’t be much longer before she says she wants to start dating again. He can feel it.
And yet, he isn’t happy.
What the hell is wrong with him?

Just a little stepdad!Betelgeuse and stepdaughter!Astrid idea/headcanon for you tonight:
Imagine Astrid came back with ghostly powers from the Netherworld after BJBJ, like we've been speculating here recently, and, with Lydia unable (or unwilling??) to help her navigate this one power in particular, she resorts to calling Betelgeuse for help. That power: remote possession of the living, just like the Maitlands did, and just like Betelgeuse did in BJBJ.
I can understand why Lydia would want Astrid to push this one down. One thing's a ghost taking over another person, but a living person making other living people move to her will? Kinda scary! It could go wrong in so many ways! Lydia would probably struggle to come to terms with it, at least for a while. And that's why this idea is so interesting to me, tbh! There's a lot there to explore: questions of morality, "just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should", etc.
Astrid takes no shit from no one, but she does have some students "bullying" her at school that get on her nerves. What other perfect targets to practice her new powers on? 😂 Imagine the chaotic duo of Betelgeuse and Astrid controlling the people who bully Astrid at school with their ghosty powers, both of them hiding in the bushes dressed in camo outfits, staring with binoculars from afar while their targets make complete fools out of themselves. Betelgeuse doesn't exactly have a moral compass to think "these are just kids, shouldn't mess with them like this", and that's exactly why Astrid thinks "yep, he's the only one who can really help me learn to use this power". Anyway, that'd be totally hilarious. Wait until Lydia finds out what they're up to. lol
No, but, hear me out, what if Astrid goes dark side with these new powers and THEN Lydia and Beej have to work together to get her back? And Beej almost sacrifices himself (or sacrifices something important to him... gonna have to think that one over, but hear me out), he has to sacrifice something and do everything he can to right this wrong. He did help Astrid out, and things went horribly wrong and it's mostly his fault. He goes above and beyond to save her and it finally shows without any doubt that his actions are not selfish; that he really does love Lydia and her family.
Anyway, going way too cartoon plot with this last part, maybe, but I love this idea. 😂
