ok my brother and I rewatched all the mission impossible movies and our new ranking is
1 > 4 > 7 > 2 > 5 > 6 > 3
2 is a lot more fun and good than I remember it being on first watch, and 5 was way more mid. Honestly 4 could take the top spot despite Jeremy Renner being in that one. There are a lot of fun physical props and gadgets and doohickeys in 4, and there’s a specific type of whimsy to the direction style that’s not in any of the other ones. You can tell the director had only worked on animated movies prior to MI4, there’s a specific type of fixation on small props and their specific trajectories and positions throughout each scene that is hard to describe but reminds me of how animated movies tend to be shot. Like there is a physical awareness of objects in space that makes sense for an animated director to have a preoccupation towards, and I think he pretty effectively translates those preoccupations to live action.
the first one has the Hollywood 90s charm, which is just firmly lodged in history now, like we are not getting that type of movie back probably because of 9/11. I kind of don’t really have anything to say about it other than it’s straightforwardly good and has some very funny horror-movie-style dutch angle shots in them. De Palma also uses split diopter shots a lot in that film, which I didn’t know much about but is basically when you split the lens of a camera to get two distinct focal lengths in a shot, but at the cost of essentially having a blurry line down the middle of the shot. It makes me wonder if that’s part of why they made the room Tom Cruise wires into all white, because they use a lot of split diopter shots in that scene and the white would conceal the middle blur well. Anywayyyy
MI2 is an undeniably John Woo movie, complete with motorcycle jousting and insane combat stunts, and also captures a bit of that same 90s charm. Also kinda don’t have a lot to say about this one. Nyah is definitely one of the best female leads in the series though, her actor is soooo good in this movie. Shame she never came back MI7 is also a pretty fun movie, you have now-geriatric Tom Cruise driving a motorbike off a cliff and fun car chase scenes. He is really hot in this movie also. And “evil AI that takes over the world” is such an awesome stupid action movie plot, especially because it’s not tied to the more rancid tendencies some of the other films have (eg with 6 explicitly being about an anarchist who wants to nuke the world after defecting from his country’s government, etc). Like it’s goofy enough to easily shut your brain off to and accept.
6 and 3 are arguably the worst, with 3 edging out the bottom spot because of the amount of heterosexuality in that one. It’s not at the level of the spn blurrywife, but it’s close enough that Julia (Ethan’s wife) can easily be categorised as a blurrywife, just a smear on the camera meant to move the hero along and then scream and cry when she gets captured (although Tom Cruise is very good at screaming and crying on camera). This is also the beginning of where they tank Luther’s character, he used to be this Gucci-wearing hacking wizard guy and by the end of the series he’s just like a guy who’s on the computer. Like after the third movie we don’t get a line from Luther anywhere as fun or charming as “that punk put a hole in my Versace!” Simon Pegg is fine. I have no thoughts about him at all, he’s the comic relief and that’s as deep as it goes.
6’s plot is hard to stomach, it has fairly poor pacing, and they basically waste the HALO dive too early in the film, so there’s not really any big tension/plot stakes associated with it. The final act is extremely good though, and upon rewatch I like Henry Cavill’s acting a lot more, which is why I think it should be ranked above 3. Also 3 has like no stunts basically ! It’s so generic.
what is funny is that MI tends to become more “interconnected” as time goes on wrt returning cast members, but it’s mostly only dudes with like one or two exceptions, so there’s the funny undercurrent of like misogynistic disposability of women leading to intense homosocial bonds between men because they’re the only constant in the story. Like it’s Ethan Benji and Luther and that’s mostly it, just three dudes having fun. Unfortunately the dialogue/banter writing between them tends to be quite mid-to-bad in these movies, so they essentially are just really long time coworkers who constantly almost die in front of one another.
I don’t think there’s a bad performance from Tom Cruise in these though. He says a lot of dumb lines and does stupid plot bullshit but he manages to make it work basically every time. He seems to have pretty good chemistry with most of the female leads as well, which is the only time where there’s interesting verbal sparring/flirting/characterological tension in scenes. And then obviously he does all those insane stunts, which is a significant part of how much we enjoyed these films. I quite like the way he portrays Ethan during them too, as like this dude who is perpetually pushed to the brink to do insane impossible shit and is basically always having a bad day because of it. it gives the character a really nice human grounding and makes the stunts feel more believable because the character doing them is having the worst day of his life the entire time. He also frequently fucks up, falls, misses ledges, gets hit and almost dies, smacked around, etc. very fun to watch, great balance of cool action hero and guy who gets the shit kicked out of him for a living
anyway these are really fun movies. I feel like if you needed to fill a weeks worth of movie nights with friends these would be really fun to watch. I had a great time yelling at the screen with my brother. A very fun drinking game also is taking a shot whenever Tom Cruise starts running in a scene. That dude is just fucking zipping around everywhere, it made me realise how rare it is to see actors run in films because he does it fucking constantly. And like not short shots either, there are takes where he’s running continually at full speed for like 45 unbroken seconds. I know also from watching some behind the scenes videos about how they did some of the stunts that he always does like 10 takes for action sequences so he’s running an absolute shitload. Anyway these movies are good

I FORGOT MALIA IM SO SORRY MALIA
hate when the fic is so mean spirited towards one character that it doesn't matter how much it focuses on my fave i absolutely have to click off immediately
#it's not her fault she became a series regular in season 4 😔#kira doesn't bother me but her lore is so absurd and her manicpixiedreamgirlness is off the charts they did not give her much to work with#malia makes me giggle and i love her so much. honestly hot take favorite stiles ship is stalia easy.#stydia happened so late i had warmed up to them as friends so much i didn't really like it and sterek has never made sense to me at all#stiles ship ranking. stalia stydia sciles. then sterek i guess. like i'll read an au if i really miss the show but it is a crackship 2 me.#rambling tags but it's MY 3 am post after a breakdown so i get to monologue about teen wolf ships if i want to!!!#stydia would have worked really well for me in s3 and i like a good fic for sure but when they became buds i LOVED that#felt more like growth for both of them and i really liked it for their characters it was more interesting to me!#i wasn't opposed to it when the ship became canon but eh it came too late for me!#stalia on the other hand...... came out of nowhere and they balance each other out really well i loved it#stiles is so riddled with anxiety while malia is so blunt and has such uncomplicated faith in him like she's just so real#and malia is confident in everything but herself while stiles always believed in her and balanced out her impulsivity#massive bright spot of season 4! it's partly bc they're probably my favorite characters to watch lol#pair the comic relief and make them care about each other.........#sciles i like bc the heart of the show is scott and stiles' relationship to me!!#the show is at its best when they're there for each other!!!!!! it's part of what makes 3b so good!!!!#scott grew on me so much over the seasons and i was so pleasantly surprised#i don't really feel like it's a super realistic ship but i really like it bc i really like them!#part of the reason i read it is bc i know the fic is guaranteed to like scott and i just want to read about the two of them lol#this post was originally about how if a stiles fic is mean to scott i literally do not want to read it at all#they're buds and reading two guys being friends (or more!) is so much more fun than thousands of words about how#stiles is the saddest most mistreated most neglected little princess in the entire world#uh excuse me. my wife is a bitch and i like her so much. put some respect on my boys name stiles is mean and scott is nice and it's the bes#scott ship ranking uhhhhhh sciles scira s2 scallison then s1 scallison. this one i'm less sure of.#i liked scira a little less on rewatch but again i think it's cause kira is like an anime character half the time and i noticed it more#then i guess scalia but as much as they had chemistry it still really wigged me out for both of them to be dating their best friends exes#the dynamic of being the ones to put each other first was cute but ehhhhh i couldn't really get past it#plus i never finished that season. stay safe out there.#allison ships. allydia allisaac (?) scallison#allydia is near and dear to my heart bc of my longass unpublished fic from last summer

Since you are taking questions what would be your top 5 QLs? Or even just five you’d personally recommend?
oooo gosh I always get so indecisive with top lists and am always influenced by the things I have most recently watched but I'll try my best
Unfortunately, I still haven't seen a lot of gls yet. I've watched my fair share of gl mini series and started a few full length series, but unfortunately it seems like the gls I am most interested in like to air during the times I don't have time to watch dramas (I actually only just recently got to watch a couple dramas after a couple months of being too busy). There's a lot I need to catch up on still! So apologies in advance but this list is just going to be bls. Catch me in the summer and I'll hopefully have found the time to watch some gls that I really enjoy!
anyways
Word of Honor
This shouldn't be so much of a surprise if you have read the tags of any poll I've reblogged with any character from this show (especially Zhou Zishu). I binged the whole show in a matter of days (mind you, that 36 50min episodes). Even though the show is censored, I'd make the argument that it's still queer. Even if you took the show on absolute face value, Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing are committed to each other for life and their only wish is to spend the rest of their days together. Like it's still queer, even if they don't kiss.
Anyways, I have been obsessed with this show since day 1. I've since fallen in love with the wuxia genre. I also love characters who are objectively horrible people. And I love the dynamic between Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing. There's a reason I've read like the majority of the fics about them on ao3. This show has a grip on me that will not let go.
2. The Sign
This show also captivated me body and soul. I loved every minute of it. It's like they made a show that appeals specifically to me. Phaya and Tharn are two of my favorite characters of all time. Phaya especially in the earlier eps won my heart with just how down bad and horny he was for Tharn. The special episodes made me realize that my ideal tv show would be a like 50 episode detective drama about their crew where they do case of the week stuff interspersed with fantasy and magic powers and whatnot and with a bunch of phaya and tharn making out and having sex thrown in. Like I would eat that shit up. I need more of them badly.
3. See Your Love
This is a recent one that I just watched! I hopped on a little late, right before the finale, and I had so much fun! I loved how they handled Jiang Shaopeng's disability and they managed to stick the landing so well! I know some people had problems with other bits of the plot and how they were resolved, but honestly they got the most important part right, which is what matters (and I enjoy some messy plot points that don't make sense mixed into my dramas). I LOVED the side couple. Wang Xinjia my beloved kitten <3. Anyways I really hope we'll get a special episode (maybe of Yang Zixiang and Jiang Shoapeng's wedding?)
4. Love for Love's Sake
I watched this drama last spring in one sitting while incredibly sick and it broke me. My process with this drama went "oh it looks like there's a new high school kbl out! hmm those usually aren't my preference but I'll guess I'll check out it's mdl page" to "oh shit? it's an isekai story? now those I love. I guess I'll watch it while I'm sick at home!" to "I am emotionally devasted." Don't know what else to say other than this is probably my favorite kbl of all time.
5. My School President
I haven't rewatched this series in a bit, but it holds a very dear part in my heart. I usually don't vibe with the typical high school fluff shows, but this one was different. I don't know why lol. I think all of the plot stuff surrounding Chinchillaz really reminded me of some of my better experiences in high school, which made me come to appreciate the characters in a different light, cause I really felt like my teenage self would have had so much in common with them. Then the romances were also good. Soundwin is still up there in my favorite ql ships. Idk man this show just hit the right boxes for me. It feels very different to gmmtv's other school fluff shows and I love it very much.

2024 in Films - Part III
I watched a lot of stuff again, some even for grad school.
August
Lola Rennt (1998) - banger soundtrack and editing
Vertigo (1958) - the most boring of the Hitchcock films I've seen so far
A League of Their Own (1992) - makes me want to watch baseball
White Men Can't Jump (1992) - did not expect jeopardy to be so important in this film, also loved the fashion
The Fall Guy (2024) - my mum loves the original series so we had to watch this and I had an amazing time
Blinded by the Light (2019) - the dialogue is strange at times but a banger soundtrack (obviously) and some amazing editing, very uplifting and I watched this on my flight to the US btw
Good Will Hunting (1997) - I watched this during my first week in Massachusetts before starting grad school here
Alien3 (1992) - this film says so much about gender, actually
Deaf Smith & Johnny Ears (1973) - taking lots of liberties with Texan history and also surprising homoerotic subtext
September
Causeway (2022) - a film that I originally only found meh but then kept thinking about all the time
Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979) - equally blood libel as the og with an added bonus of cycle of violence, might write an essay about this
Sleepaway Camp (1983) - another horror film that says so much about gender and I could write an entire essay about it
My Best Fiend (1999) - Werner Herzog must be studied under a microscope
We're All Going to the World's Fair (2021) - not as good as I saw the tv glow imo but asking some important questions about online communities and reality
Jacob the Liar (1974) - the film felt a little too empty but I also don't want to say something negative because I am still angry about a bad review I saw
Chris Grace: As Scarlett Johansson (2024) - absolutely transformed the way I think about stand up comedy
All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) - the old lie dulce et decorum est pro patria mori
The Shock (1923) - as ableist and racist as you expect from the 20s but with a great performance from Lon Chaney
Trap (2024) - I actually really enjoyed this, even though I was waiting for an even crazier plot twist
Don't Think I've Forgotten: Cambodia's Lost Rock and Roll (2014) - a documentary that nearly made me cry
Hudson Hawk (1991) - technically a rewatch but I need to speak my truth and it's that I like this film
All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) - I have so many issues that this would take an entire post or even conference paper
The Russians Are Coming! The Russians are Coming! (1966) - had me in stitches half the time, I love a good cold war comedy
The Bone Collector (1999) - spooky!
Monkey Shines (1988) - also horror and gender but also silly
Death in Venice (1971) - boring :/
October
UPSIDEdown (2013) - I watched this one twice, once with the director, also had lunch and coffee with him, I had an issue at first with how child protection service is portrayed but that part is apparently real, also he cast a neurodivergent kid, which is awesome
The Master (2012) - I love when men are also poorly trained attack dogs, also can you imagine sending that guy to the cult from Midsommar? Also still haunted by Philip Seymour Hoffman
Like Stars on Earth (2007) - neurodivergent kids need neurodivergent role models!!!
The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum (1975) - I have so much to say about this tbh
Farewell Disco (1990) - at first I found this kinda boring but then I was also enchanted by the inclusion of Sorbian culture
The Kangaroo Conspiracy (2022) - just read the books
November
Srikanth (2024) - fairly standard biopic, meanders a bit but solid soundtrack and performance
Innocent Witness (2019) - this one impressed me so much I recommended it to multiple people, also I'm an autistic person who is besties with my lawyer so bonus points for that, I could talk a lot about this too
Hunt (2022) - Probably less confusing if you know more about Korean history, fun plot twist and imo some homoerotic tension
Scarlett Innocence (2014) - tbh I didn't even watch the whole thing because I don't go for erotic thrillers, I just watched the scenes where Jung Woo Sung is a poor little meow meow
Inseperable Bros (2019) - some dialogue was a bit awkward but that might have been the translation, I like that this was about interabled platonic relationships
Remember You (2016) - the first plot twist is predictable as hell but the second one hit me in the face like a brick
The Childe (2023) - Kim Seon-ho has the range (creepy and babygirl) (covered in blood and coughing up blood)
The Good The Bad The Weird (2008) - not only the best western I've ever seen but also one of the best films I've seen this year at all
Sympathy for Mr Vengeance (2002) - very unsatisfying, but in a good way
As We Were Dreaming (2015) - the German answer to banlieu films, a film about the reunification of Germany from a different perspective than you're used to, despite living decades later and in the west I feel like I know these characters
Transit (2018) - the anti Casablanca, a double exposed picture of past and present, a Kafkaesque limbo of bureaucracy and loss of identity
Berlin Alexanderplatz (2020) - long, confusing, too smart for me and I still couldn't stop watching it. There's something very queer about this film too.
Wicked (2024) - I haven't seen the musical but went to see the film with my friend (and her family) and physically went 👀 to her every time something gay happened. I'm sorry I doubted you Ariana Grande.
December
Fly Me to the Moon (2024) - I watched this on a terrible transatlantic red eye flight and it entertained me. Unique concept but predictable execution
Debbie Macomber's Dashing Through the Snow (2015) - shout out to the Jewish biker guy handing out free puppies
Round and Round (2023) - Actually a really fun Hallmark holiday film?? And a nice twist on the time loop genre??
Wicked Little Letters (2023) - Very fun to watch on new years eve while tipsy

My favorite arthurian tv shows and minisiers (part 2/2)
(My favorite movies here)
More details under cut. Some of these I love, some are so bad so good, some are beautifully epic, some are just funny.
Kaamelott: French long running series about Arthur and his court. It started with very short comedic episodes and slowly stated to get into more serious events still keeping a comedic tone. More on how to start watching (for English speakers) here.
Merlin (BBC): Okay, this might have filled me with frustration many times, and it might be annoying (for me) in the way some stories were adapted (Morgana going evil, Guinevere and Lancelot) but I still love the first season and I enjoyed the fifth season a lot. Plus, Guinevere in Merlin BBC is probably one of my favorite Guinevere ever created, I just adore her. Not to mention that this show has take arthuriana from tv movies and turned into something marketable again, giving rise to a bunch of movies.
Camelot (Starz): Oh boy, so much potential and so good. Everything but Arthur and Guinevere, for me, is perfect. Literally delightful. The settings are beautiful, the story of Merlin and Igraine actually made me shed a tear, Kay is adorable, Gawain had the potential of being the first queer Gawain ever (I could feel it!), and Morgana was absolutely perfect. I truly believe that if they had cut Guinevere's story, and changed the actor playing Arthur this could have been our long arthurian tv show.
The Librarians: An extremely fun show with a Galahad living in modern times and working with the Librarians. While the arthurian elements are not a lot (there is Morgana, Galahad and some Lancelot), the show is still enjoyable for the self-contained adventures it offers.
Trollhunters / Tales of Arcadia: This animated series is not really an arthurian one, but it does have Merlin, Morgana and Arthur as main characters in the third season, which takes a more arthurian setting (it is called Wizards). I really enjoyed the backstory of Morgana, and in general even the first two seasons are quite fun for what they are.
Fate/Apocrypha: I admit I am not a fan of the Fate universe, mainly because it confuses me, but seeing Mordred in the flesh? I loved them. This one season anime does not have a lot of arthurian backstory for Mordred, but the show still manages to keep some of the angst and for me it was enough.
Arthur et les enfants de la Table Ronde: Probably my favorite animated arthurian show ever. The story is for kids, but it still manages to throw in some interesting twist, in particular related to Uther's cruelty/harshness and Morgana's actions. It follows a kid Arthur who is an orphan living in Uther's kingdom and going to adventures with Sagramore, Guinevre, Gawain, Morgana etc. It also has one of the few Morgause out there!
Cursed: Okay, hear me out! Is this show good? Not in my opinion. Is it fun? Yes, I actually enjoyed it. The Merlin and Nimue duo was an interesting take, Arthur's story was developing to be really good, Morgana as a lesbian? Yes, please. It was messy, but it managed to pull together even a final battle and give us some surprising moments so this is one of those shows I will probably feel like rewatching in the future (and buying the dvd if they sell it).

I love your art so much,, it makes me want to get into the transformers fandom!! ;-; ;-; where do I start though .. its intimidating
aw thank you so much!! and yeah,, i totally get how there's so much in transformers when you first look at it ;v;
the g1 cartoon from 1984 is a great place to get started if you want to get to know the original characters and setup, since pretty much everything after has taken some amount of inspiration from it! it's an incredibly 80s-feeling show, and i think it's good if you enjoy some lighthearted fun and a massive cast of silly characters !
or if you want something that has a more focused/serious tone, i think Transformers Prime from 2010 is probably one of the more beloved tf series to date, in terms of its writing, the depth of its characters and relationships, production quality and visuals,, and like.impact on fandom maybe,, definitely has huge rewatchability for me :)
personally, i was obsessed with the 2007 Transformers Animated cartoon when i was younger, so i've always had a soft spot for it ^-^ it took a very different direction from other tf stories and i think it's kept itself a nice little legacy for that, for its newer setting and design style especially, and i think it's a fun watch on its own if you've never seen anything else from transformers!
i hope if you do decide to check out transformers that you enjoy it!! these three are all family-friendly animated series that are relatively easy to find, i'm pretty sure they're all available in full somewhere under the official transformers youtube channel :)
though of course, if something else catches your eye, i say just go for it!! have fun :D
#the live action movies 1-5 from michael bay are prob the most mainstream but.i would not recommend them too much#hdgfjd sorry if this got a little long#;;-; me when im talking about transformers vs when im talking about anything else...#asks#tf g1#tfa#tfp

"Make it look like a freak lighting accident"
It’s been years since I’ve revisited Due South, but the @ds30below event sparked my interest again, and I decided to watch a few episodes with my bud @flownwrong to celebrate. We watched three episodes that stuck in my mind the most over the years after being absent from the show for so long: Bird in the Hand, Eclipse, and The Ladies’ Man, and I found all three to be a very rewarding rewatch, even though my memory of the rest of the series is a bit hazy.
Bird in the Hand:
When we started our mini marathon, I didn’t realize that this was the only ep of the three where Fraser’s dad plays a role, and I forgot how solid Pinsent was at pulling comic relief duty. The scene where he popped up demanding that Fraser murder Gerard immediately after Gerard was droning on about how Robert’s dogged nobility was his ultimate downfall had me rolling, as did the bit where he—probably correctly— asserted that Ray would shoot Gerard for him if Fraser really asked him to (aww). One thing in particular about his character that struck me while watching this episode were the moments where he actually interacted with the environment around him in a way that impacted people other than Fraser by implanting the idea to retreat in McFadden’s mind and having Gerard attempt to grab his hand while dangling in the air. In my memory, it was a lot more ambiguous whether Robert was actually a spirit or a figment of Fraser’s imagination, so that ended up being kind of a fun twist for me.
Since the other two episodes we watched were very Ray K centric, I’m glad we did one that had a focus on Fraser’s emotional state. The scene where he confronted Robert about stubbornly refusing help in life and said “I never loved anyone as much as I love you” while Robert was still trying to find ways to derail the conversation is a fan favorite for a reason; it’s a rare, intensely vulnerable moment for Fraser and I really enjoyed the way that Paul Gross pulled back from it a little. In another show with another character, it’s easy to imagine a scene like this being a more blatant, emotional showstopper, with the neglected son saying this in a fit of tearful anger that’s meant to make his father rear back in surprise. Instead, Paul Gross delivers the line in an understated way that’s almost more like puzzled frustration, as if Fraser is trying to piece something together about himself instead, which I thought was a really nice touch to the scene that made it feel very Fraser. I also love the cunning way that Fraser brought it back around just a few minutes later by weaponizing male emotional repression in order to freak out everyone else in the room and gain the upper hand (as well as have an opportunity to annoy Ghost Dad by calling him short) while also delivering some genuine truths: Gerard really did break his heart.
Last but certainly not least, I adore how Ray kept trying to take care of Fraser throughout the episode in his own grumpy, special way. Sure, trying to orchestrate some Fraser-on-Gerard police brutality didn’t end up being the most well received suggestion, but it’s sweet that he acted extra vengeful to make up for Fraser’s dutiful restraint. I also forgot that the “Mentally Deficient” sticker gag and the tape recorder conversation were both in this episode. The Bickering Married Couple vibes between them were always such a classic part of the show, so it was nice to see that on display.
Bird in the Hand really held up strongly against my fond memories of it, and I was a little surprised at how easy it was to slide back into this world and be immersed in it after being away for so long. Sometimes I guess you actually can go back home again.
#due south#ds30below#i will post my observations about Eclipse and The Ladies’ Man separately hopefully either tonight or tomorrow#but i had a blast watching all three#thanks alina!

twomp week : day 7
NOSTALGIC MEDIA CROSSOVER TIME!!! I have been so looking forward to this prompt. as I first put it on the list I knew that I’d be doing the first one of these, but upon sitting down to draw it I decided to do some more for the fun of it which is why im so late lmao
so, here’s Argos and Mr Plant drawn in my best approximation of the artstyles of shows I grew up on. all of these meant so much to me at one point or another and I still hold so much fondness for them :)
Monster High
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/336d925fde878cca5422e6ef6c29e6d1/22879cc9aa6babf4-ff/s540x810/f83e3b27228b336b039611c0e5e7a614bbf1c07f.jpg)
I cannot hazard a guess at how many times I watched Monster High growing up. I adored the webseries so much even though the episodes were only, what, two minutes long? and I watched pretty much all those original movies. you will never catch me watching the remakes cause you cannot improve on perfection.
anyway wouldn’t it be fun to see these guys at Monster High? I think Argos would thrive there. Mr Plant would probably murder so many of them for being overly friendly though. I also find the idea of him being Venus’ cousin or something so funny for no real reason.
Winx Club
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/178f52cbebef63aee49b20244d4febe5/22879cc9aa6babf4-73/s540x810/ea51f42a8a7cfb35b9349f28220074bdf9bcb21f.jpg)
it is an unfortunate truth that the guys in winx club just did not look as good. the girls all had their stunning fairy designs and each went through so many iterations of their powers and designs as they reached new levels and the specialists were just… the specialists. but i still had to draw Argos and Mr Plant in their style cause I was BESOTTED with this show for so so long.
I was so dedicated to watching this series that I woke up early on school mornings and annoyed my parents into letting me eat my soggy coco pops sitting on the sofa so that I could watch the episodes when they came on the telly. it was definitely worth it <3
X-Men
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/dd8e98c39a2e4dfc3fd2f2e81a540b18/22879cc9aa6babf4-7e/s540x810/e8cd81f7bdfb9a0e3b731df0a4b0cf7b35e7b0a9.jpg)
the abrupt shift from pretty cartoons aimed at preteen girls to X-Men is kinda funny to me but I was also in love with this series too. I’d watch it before bed most nights and I just loved it so much. I wanted to be Jubilee so badly (looking back on it now, as I am currently rewatching the series, uh… girlie was not having the best time but I just wanted to be around the X-Men who I adored and idolised) and had the BIGGEST crushes on Gambit, Storm and Wolverine (in that order). I’ve been saying Spiderman is my favourite superhero for years but I may have to change my mind to Wolverine looking back on things…
but yeah. Argos and Mr Plant. I can see them as mutants. I know the low-hanging fruit for Argos’ abilities is enhanced vision cause of all his eyes but I’m actually thinking he gives people visions or dreams (that can become obsessive) like the dream plant. as for Mr Plant, I am gonna be boring and just say plant-based powers cause it feels right for him.

Hii Hana!! (*^▽^)/~♡
I finally watched and read Moriarty the Patriot :D I managed to find time to squeeze in a few series (along with another Haikyuu rewatch because why not) during the few days of break I had left and the first week of the new semester xD
I'm glad you suggested that I watch the anime before the manga because after reading, I'm pretty sure I probably wouldn't have enjoyed the anime as much as I did if I read the manga first. I didn't dislike it, though. It was pretty good with the storyline they chose. I do prefer manga over it because of how much more in-depth it went with the story. Also, how at some points the story seemed to flow better in the manga because of how they introduced certain characters and situations beforehand, so in the future chapters the callback made more sense.
I wasn't expecting it, but Albert kind of grew on me. I didn't really think much of him during the anime, but in the manga I started liking him (especially post time skip). I still need to roll his character arc in my head to fully grasp his personality, but I really like his character.
I think I'll give it another read, slower this time, because I kind of zoomed through the manga in the first go :') But it was a fun read. I had almost forgotten I once added it to my list so thanks for reminding me about it!! <33
Hiiii Soul 💞🫂💚
YESSSS YESSS IM SO GLAD 💞💞💞💚💚💚
So happy you loved Moriarty the Patriot 🫂🫂🫂🥳🥳💚💚💞💞💞
(Haikyuu rewatch is always a must 💞💞💚💚 one of my fave comfort shows next to ccs and yyh)
Yesss I agree. I love how the manga doesn’t hold back and goes darker and more detailed in its execution. I feel that was one of the set backs in the anime. They couldn’t go all out. Did you get a chance to see the OVAs?? I’m sure you’ll love them!
The tea party is so funny!! And… cough, they also adapted the hot springs scene 🥰🥰🥰
Ohhh Albert!! You know I’m not surprised that you like him?? He kind of reminds me of Suo!! 🥰🥰💞💞
Both are secretive, hides their emotions, protects their loved ones, can easily navigate social settings and people, has a ‘smile’, will sacrifice themselves, can fight, etc.
They could be practically twins 🥰🥰🥰😂😂 He screams “Soul’s” type 💞💞
I’m so happy that you enjoyed it so much 🫂🫂💞💞 I need to give it a reread too, it’s been so long and I know the author just started part 2 arc so it would be a perfect time to do it. (<- been saying this for months lol)
There’s also light novels and a manga based on the light novel that you can read too that you might enjoy 💞💞
The light novel can be found here
And you’re welcome 💞💞🫂🫂 I’m so happy I could introduce you to the series 💚💚 found family is one of my faves 💞💞🥹🥹
Cough cough more found family genre can be found in the hit mobile game twisted wonderland cough cough AHSJJDJDD
#answered#🌺soul🌺#I love moriarty the patriot#it has such a soft place in my heart#the characters and lore is so so good#i recommend to to anyone who loves the ‘villain’ side#or more of a darker tales#but also one of healing and love#and found family#ahhhh I really need to reread it again 💞💞💞💚💚💚

look at this thang i was tagged in and actually ended up doing:] thank you dear @cannibalismpdf what a treat this is.
i did not keep track of most of these on letterboxd since i actually only started using it a couple of weeks ago, but i dug into my brain for this and am happy to say i watched more this year than i thought i did. and all of these i watched for the first time besides paranormal activity, but i first watched it as a little baby so it doesnt really count (even tho ive always had a clearer memory of those movies than most things) ok anyway ill keep the rest short simple and sweet
top 9 movies i watched this year:
good time (2017) - watched this january '24 after getting really into the curse, dont exactly remember what i was doing or where i was when i watched it. i do know that i rewatched it almost immediately after w my sister. just an overall good time 🤙
biosphere (2022) - watched more recently, and again rewatched almost immediately after but this time with friends who love to put up with my little movie moments. verrry silly and also lovely to see pregnant mark duplass whenever possible
hellraiser (1987) - yes yes this should have happened sooner but i also believe i watched it at the right time. one of my dear friends favorite movies and i am now blessed to understand why
funny games (2007) - okaaay now i watched this like 2 weeks ago all thanks to a wonderful recommendation from a lovely and sane-about-naomi-watts individual and it was all downhill from there. or like a lift off from there honestly. the movie itself is great i am a sucker for the inescapable and the doomed. very raw. now i especially love a man in this movie who is sweaty bloody crying and whining up a storm. when hes not like. on a boat with his son.
paranormal activity (2007) - i was going to put paranormal activity 5: the marked ones instead since i did in fact give it half a point higher than the first one, but its fine it all ties together. me and my sister actually watched all movies in the series (besides tokyo night) so that we could watch meatcanyons ranking of it and god. so much alcohol. wonderful movies wonderful times. this is one of those movies ill probably think abt on my deathbed
trap (2024) - fun movie! i absolutely enjoyed the first half, the setting of an arena concert was like the best part of it, so i was kind of sad when suddenly theres like... vans and homes 🙄 coulda been cus i was still on a concert high
the cook, the thief, his wife & her lover (1989) - wonderful disgusting movie. something i will need to rewatch again and SOON
late night with the devil (2023) - had to replace iwtv bc i for some reason forgot about this movie. how im not sure, considering this is probably my favorite movie i watched this year.
rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead (1990) - dont even try to talk to me abt this movie rn
well that does it. arent ya glad i didnt list all the tim roth movies ive already seen but have watched over and over again and could probably talk abt for hours if allowed the time and the right kind of attention. and i suppose the conclusion is i just really love to watch movies with loved ones. i guess ill try and tag some people now
@frmulcahy @confinesofmy @barryhbo2018 @unprojection @creepmovie or anyone else who would like to. sorry if u have already done this or hate to be tagged but hello anyway :]

oh I am interested to ask if you had any spoilers when reading/watching mdzs the first time? especially did you already know _the thing_ with nie huaisang like you did with junwu or not?
also as I already said I really love your art your style is absolutely perfect >>>>>
Okay second query first THANK YOUUUUU I am so . Ahwhwhdhegegeg ;w; tht my Images are well received in the world
And first query second: I didn't! I went into CQL pretty much entirely blind –and really bc I knew it was in Mandarin and my friends were doing a watch party so I was like Oh I'll hang out and get some listening practice in! – and I had some REALLY good experiences for it. I did not even suspect the Thing with NHS and the friends I was watch partying with had a BLAST about this it was so funny reading the thread rewatchers were talking in after we finished the series bc I immediately LIKED NHS and I was going Omg yay NHS my perfect meetup boy right up until the Reveal during which I was like OH MY GOD???? MY PERFECT MEETUP BOY!!!!!!! and by god I've been Xiyao posting too much I need to NHS post again I love that guy so MUCH he's a solid favorite character contender and the first I recognized
The only thing I was ~spoiled on was Meng Yao getting a new name bc one of my friends slipped up and called him JGY once and I saw it before they edited the message, and that's only a spoiler in CQL (though tbh I prefer the pacing of how CQL introduces you to JGY, hot take; it's probably in solid part because I was show-first and am just biased toward the thing I knew first, but also the thing is . It was SO fun to meet and get attached to Meng Yao and then see him do more and more fucked up things and go UM . WHAT THE FUCK. literally Lan Xichen simulator)
More fun things from watching CQL blind
I fully bought the core misdirection, in part because I was kind of confused as to what was going on the whole time
When we started I was like "this is fun and charming! I like these characters and such I'm interested in seeing where this goes, though this isn't Seizing me like a new Thing or like Hannibal did it's not lifechanging" And then we got to Lotus Pier arc, and for like three days of episodes in a row (we would watch 2 eps a day) I cried every single time, and then I was like HEY GUYS... I THINK THIS IS LIFE CHANGING NOW
When we finally got out of the time skip I did some speculation as to who died and in fact called that it was Nie Mingjue because in terms of status quo changes "NHS is sect leader now" would function and give NHS something to do that he didn't have otherwise and NMJ was the most narratively killable
After WWX got stabbed at Carp Tower I was genuinely very afraid for a second that she was going to actually die for real, and my friends were like THIS IS A ROMANCE THEY HAVEN'T EVEN CONFESSED?? and I was like YEAH BUT WHAT IF THEY FINALLY CONFESS AND SHE SUCCUMBS TO HER INJURIES IN LWJ'S ARMS OR SOMETHING!!! IT'S SAD AND I'M SCARED??? and had to be assured that it's in fact not the kind of romance where Anyone Can Die™ and happy ending for the main couple is genre guaranteed. But there's a canon divergence idea for you
Before we watched the finale I speculated FURIOUSLY as to who was going to die. Hang on lemme get screenshots
I also remember saying something along the lines of specifically "I'm scared that Jin Guangyao is going to merc Lan Xichen and NO ONE is going to be happy about that, least of all Jin Guangyao" but I can't find it. Kind of yuri of absence about the actual Xiyao ending. Sorry I'm frenzying I just checked the clock and I have an hour to eat breakfast before we watch the finale
Bonus:
#IK YOU DIDN'T ASK ABOUT THE REST OF THIS BUT IT WAS RELEVNAT AND ALSO I'M ABOUT TO WATCH THE FINALE!!!!#anti Vwoop forcefield#<- TODAY WILL BE THE LAST DAY WE TAG THINGS WITH THIS

In relation to the post I reblogged...OTP prompts Vijinx edition.
This is just for fun and my favorite interpretation of these guys, keep that in mind and if you have your own feel free to add it or join the fun and make your own! I'm going to write bad, I'm going to write sloppy 👍 It's a long list guys.
For clarity when I use Jinx I'm referring to any version of her where traumatic events have happened that makes Jinx into who she is. When I use Powder I'm referencing any version of her that had the support, love and circumstances to heal and be healthy. They're the same but different people you know, nature vs nurture and all that. 🤝
Upon rereading, there are nsfw questions I answered as a heads up.
If you see spelling and grammar mistakes no you didn't (sorry and also if you point them out I'll fix them and! Appreciate it)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/db4ce725d5735fd976afca0d60613a2a/41fb3169ba1807ce-8a/s540x810/b68f16a075b743f3aac5e99ff61d4ba1d69b640c.jpg)
1.) Genuinely they're probably both dogshit at cooking but Jinx might be a sleeper agent here. She could be a good baker and specifically better than Vi but Vi has mean grill dad energy. More than anything though they both have flop energy. They would learn the basics together and specialize in max. 5-7 specific recipes apiece that the other likes and they enjoy.
In a moment where they both have the space, time and peace to actually cook a meal...I think it would be Powder, Vi, and then Jinx in that order.
2.) That being said Jinx is definitely waking up at 2 AM to cook some kind of midnight snack. A midnight gourmand if you will. In these moments she both comes up with the most disgusting combinations and, rarely, inconceivable combinations that come out as delicacies.
3.) Jinx is definitely into PDA. All kinds and at any time. I really can't see her caring who does and doesn't see. In moments of jealousy or in new locations where no one knows them Vi would definitely be into it and reciprocate. Jinx would obviously initiate the most because of that. I think with Powder it'd be even between her and Vi in any scenario and both would get mushy when the other starts.
Picture a vacation on an ocean side port city, the second day into the trip after unpacking and adjusting to the newness of an unfamiliar and exciting place. They've already picked up something for breakfast and a local place to visit. They take a break in a rest area halfway to their destination set aside for people climbing the mountain the town sprawls across. Blocked from the stairs around a rock wall is a bench and a set of rails wrapping around the small ledge.
Jinx leans on the rails, Vi comes up behind her to wrap her arms around her waist and lay her head on one of Jinx' shoulders. Jinx places a soft peck on her cheek with nothing but soft love in her eyes as she turns back to watch the sun finally rise above the mountain peaks for the day. They stay like that, wrapped up in each other, lightly playing with the others hair and clothes and soaking in the morning rays for as long as they can stand.
4.) I can't think of any specific show (because I don't watch that much stuff) but I can really see them being into weekend watching some corny action style series with lots of explosions and "cool" guys. I think they'd love watching and rewatching the John Wick series and Baby Driver. Their weakness they'd never admit to each other, but it's so obvious, is loving romcoms. Princess bride is one that comes to mind.
5.) Vi is definitely the cheesier of the two and while Jinx/Powder gives her shit for it and teases her she loves it, and loves that Vi loves her like that. She thinks it's endearing, she does get embarrassed if Vi does it where others can see though and Vi definitely digs into that readily. It's rare she can embarrass Jinx so she takes full advantage when she can, especially in such a harmless way.
6.) They'd both be late for things, maybe not all the time but most of it. For Vi it's a comedy of errors that are never entirely her fault, something always comes up. For Jinx she gets lost in her own head/is bad with time management and/or doesn't care too much about it unless it's with someone she loves like Vi or Ekko. Even then she'd still probably be a couple minutes late. Powder is on time tbh I think she has the skills and luck to manage it. She's got her system down pat.
7.) Jinx is by far the clumsiest of the 3 for funny comedy reasons. Having shimmer in your blood probably isn't always convenient or productive for balancing. I'm thinking of the fight scene with Smeaches guys and her tripping on the octopus among other moments. Vi is fit and has the muscle control to stay upright most of the time and catch herself. Powder is just more careful than all three and rarely puts herself in situations where she could slip up.
8.) Vi is an old man. She's neither a night owl or morning dove she sleeps in as late as she can and goes to bed embarrassingly early. She would lean closer to a night owl if I had to choose, for late night outings at bars with friends if nothing else. Working out and staying fit helps her keep a regular sleep schedule for the most part.
Jinx/Powder are 100% night owls. There isn't anything quite like the midnight inspirations amirght guys? That sudden spontaneous energy and river of ideas and inspiration right when it's time to go to bed are hard to ignore.
9.) Purely for who they are and their hobbies/strengths, Vi would pack the lightest. Prison habits and not having stuff in general definitely helped Vi figure out necessities. Jinx and Powder being tinkerers and builders, I can't see them having anything less than at least 2 backpacks full of stuff at any one time. If they had to leave-leave, not just move around for the day or a week, canon wise they're all pretty light packers.
10.) I see them having too different of schedules from each other to make sure the other doesn't forget anything. I CAN see Vi leaving things out for Jinx/Powder to take with them for the day like warmer clothes if the weathers shit or some treat she picked up the day before. If they go on trips it's definitely Vi keeping the packing list short and efficient though lol. And making sure Jinx/Powder don't for get their phone charger or wallet equivalent to whatever she'd have. You know, I think Vi might just carry all their shit in her personal bags or pockets.
11.) When Vi leaves things out for Jinx/Powder she'd definitely add little notes. Suggesting plans for the evenings when they meet up and/or little love/appreciation notes. Jinx would leave as many notes as she could anywhere she could theoretically put a note on. The contents are just about everything and anything but mostly little love notes. Powder would leave notes irregularly I think, for special events she plans or on days she thinks Vi needs a little pick me up.
12.) Calling and texting oh man. I think they'd all prefer calling, it'd be easier for Jinx and Powder to talk with Vi while tinkering and Vi is sappy and just loves hearing their voice. I just think it's funny to make Vi an old man about stuff but she WAS in prison for like 7 years and I don't think texting or phones were a big part of her education. Jinx would overtext like crazy and sometimes the radio silence on Vis end would bug her until they talked it out.
It wouldn't be on Vi's mind to check her phone throughout the day unless she had a moment of down time. When she finally checked her phone there'd be 20 texts from Jinx.
Powder is worse than Vi about texting, irregularly, when she's really deep into an idea she goes hours without picking up her phone. For the most part she'd be pretty on top of texting and while she could rival Jinx' texting habits she filters herself a little to give time for Vi to reply. I think that's why they would all prefer calls, calls make themselves obvious and intentions/meanings and clearer over the phone. In the end they'd accept that when they're apart and they need the other they'll just call.
13.) They'd stay at home and go out equally! Date nights inside just hanging out, cooking and watching shitty tv together. Going out on the town and ripping it up is an every other weekend, if not once a month ordeal lol.
14.) If Vi has had a long day, it'd take heaven and hell to keep her awake for an entire movie at the end of the night. Jinx/Powder don't mind these nights too much. A sleepy and soft Vi is always a treat even if they have to wake her up to get her to bed.
When Powder/Jinx has too many late nights in a row they're out like a light within 20 minutes of the movie, it's almost predictable at this point. Has Vi used this to get them to have a regular nights sleep? Maybe. She has a suspicion they've caught on already and if Jinx/Powder end up falling asleep curled up on Vi everytime. Well, nobody is going to snitch.
15.) It would be so easy to say Vi cries at movies that aren't sad but it would definitely have to be Jinx. Her perception of reality isn't quite the same as most people's. There can be something so incredibly distressing and sad about a tin-can accidentally getting knocked off a counter, with the right lighting and the right music, that nobody but her seems to understand. Depending on the moment, Vi will sometimes rib her about it but she mostly takes it in stride even if she doesn't get it.
16.) Jinx tries to hog the covers but not even the shimmer in her blood makes her strong enough to wrestle them from Vi. Jinx/Powder always, somehow, getting completely covered by Vi and the covers anyway. If Vi is asleep near them there's some kind of homing system in her that finds them everytime. The only time this isn't true is if Vi is the one being held, little spoon or any other position
.
17.) Vi is way more competitive. No one from the outside looking in could judge who was more competitive. They both know Vi can't say no to a challenge even if she doesn't win every time, Jinx/Powder always give her a run for her money. Jinx/Powder likes that Vi can win against her though, when it's things she finds hot. Other times it's flat out frustrating and sometimes embarrassing.
18.) We've all seen Vi when she's drunk lol. She's touchy, emotional, and a bit looser with her movements and just existing in general. I would not say she's an angry drunk because if I had that rat guy dancing up on me after a lesbian situationship break-up, after fist fighting, in an overstimulating bar, I'd probably also punch him. She's normally soft when she's sober, when drunk she can be even softer to the point of mush at home.
Jinx/Powder. My girl drunk is a wonder. There's 2 scenarios if she can even get drunk with the shimmer. The first is she's incredibly useless and giggly. She may as well be dead weight and has to be lugged around everywhere even if she has control over her limbs. She is incredibly touchy, you can imagine being toted around isn't the worst thing to her. She's in surprisingly good graces and doesn't like to get drunk in public like this.
The second scenario is that she's motivated as hell and has the confidence of a god. She's never made more things in her life but in the morning when she wakes up she can't even understand them. They do work perfectly but what they're supposed to do is an unsolvable mystery. She's all over the place bouncing from wall to wall, an unmitigated whirlwind.
19.) Their biggest fight has to be just, I think with most people, misunderstandings. With the mental health of both of them they both have needs that aren't always clear, to others or themselves. Vi HAS to have trauma from her life, in the very least she's still recovering from the prison system and not even counting the unprocessed grief of what happened before and after prison.
Jinx did a lot of fucked up things. For the both of them this would be a major thing they'd have to work through together. Both how Vi views Jinx and how Jinx views herself.
20.) Wouldn't it be funny if Vi brought home a stray cat and Jinx/Powder brought home a stray puppy at the same time? They're both being cagey about something and the other can't figure it out, they suspect the other already knows about their adopted animal. It turns out they're both idiots and reveal them at the same time, only to laugh and keep them both.
They reminded the other of each other 😔. Stink Maw would be a really, really good name for a dog is all I'm saying.
21.) The time differences in each other's schedules was something they both had to acclimate to for sure. There is enough space in their shared apartment for them to figure out how to prepare for the morning and work on late night projects without disturbing each other. They figured out a system that works through many lessons learned and conversations had.
Vis biggest learning experience is what Jinx/Powder needs for their mental health. It isn't always easy and it isn't always straight forward.
Jinx and Powder had to learn the other side of that and know when to ask for things/communicate what they need. They both continue to learn and build patience, understanding and love for each other in this regard.
22.) Jinx and Powders love language would be touching, gifts and making time for Vi. Jinx' looks a little different than Powders for sure, it's louder and more boisterous. Unpredictable, it could be something small and thoughtful or something wildly impressive and grand. No matter what it is it always sweeps Vi off of her feet, sometimes literally lol.
Powder's could be described as consistent, thoughtful and sometimes silly but the size and scale are relatively the same every time. Sometimes it's a planned date night at the house with Vis favorite meal cooked, sometimes it's a bath drawn ahead of time for a night of recovering and decompression before Vi even gets home.
Vi's love language is touching, little touches and kisses. Acts of service and little, daily tasks that need to be done regularly but she takes care of it and enjoys doing it. Not only for the feeling of accomplishing things and running a well maintained ship but because she knows Jinx/Powder won't have to worry about it. One less thing on their mind if it was on their mind in the first place. Vi knows they can neglect basic care sometimes Jinx more so than Powder. Vi would include them in some of the chores to make sure they were part of the household, and to give them the opportunity to add in their own flair and taste.
23.) Given the circumstances, Jinx/Powder would initiate cuddly more but not by a wide margin. When the time makes sense I don't think you could keep them away from each other. Considering their history, they'd eat up as much physical reassurance that the other is there in the flesh as possible.
24.) Personally I love the idea of Vi being the protector, the big spoon if you will. Most of the time this is true but on the not-quite rare but uncommon night Vi is the small spoon. Jinx/Powder need to be able to protect Vi too, to comfort, reassure, and love her. Vi deserves the space to be held, and to be small, and to rest and let her guard down.
25.) This one can go in for way too long. Vi loves that they're so smart, she would kill to be able to see the world from Jinx/Powders eyes because she knows it would be like seeing a galaxy in high definition for the first time. She'd love the opportunity to see inside their head a little more intimately. She loves when they find something they love, how they get to be soft and unguarded. How they act around kids and how they seem to be on the same wave length. She loves their tenacity, to create and deconstruct something until they fully understand it.
Jinx and Powder love how soft hearted and kind Vi is. How strong she is both physically and emotionally, she keeps getting back up no matter what hits her. They both love and hate how she never, ever gives up on something she truly and deeply loves. She loves how cool and intimidating Vi can be, how big she can make her presence and on the other side of that coin, how lame and corny she can be just for them.
26.) JINX, Jinx/Powder easily. Vi thinks she going to get road rage one time only for Jinx/Powder to jump in before she can even think about what to do. They're rolling the window down, they're calling them every name under the sun, they're flipping them off and reaching over Vi honk the horn. Vi is mostly embarrassed if not a little frightened and a little turned on.
When they have to drive, Jinx is rarely behind the wheel. She knows Vi doesn't like her driving, and has openly said that in different words and that works out just fine with her. Driving is boring and yelling from the passenger seat is much more entertaining and she gets to be the DJ.
Powder's driving isn't great but it's good enough compared to what Jinx' would be she does some of the driving between the two of them. As crazy as she is with road rage she only changes her driving style a little bit, unnoticeable to anyone else on the road. Vi can see it and it cracks her up, it's never enough to be unsafe but just enough for Vi to see what she was going for.
27.) The most risky place they've had sex is in Vi's office during working hours, with clear glass windows and no blinds or curtains. It's a small workplace, towards the end of lunch. They had just finished redressing and fixing each other's everything when people started walking back in. A rival to that is behind the back of the curtains of the innovators competition, right before Powder was set to present her entry for the year. They may have cut it a little too close to the opening, there may or may not be rumors of Powder having a mystery girlfriend going around.
28.) Jinx/Powder is the food stealer. Easy. Vi orders extra food specifically for them to steal it from her. There's an allure to stealing food from Vi that Vi uses to her advantage to feed them. Sometimes Vi steals a bite or two from Jinx/Powder to even it out. Plus Jinx/Powder always order far more adventurous things than Vi normally would for a meal. This way she gets to expand her palette a little too.
29.) Their first date is an accident. An accident in the way that neither of them really realized it was a date until well after the fact. It was a normal outing for the both of them, normal for going out on the weekend to a newly opened sit down food cart/stand that promised to blow expectations out of the water. In the very least for the first or second week of being open.
Vi and Jinx/Powder knew to jump on early openings to get the best version of anything they had to offer. It was rare businesses like that stayed good for longer than a month. To take full advantage of the novelty of the situation they both put more effort into their usual outing attire. It just so happened that when they both did it, unplanned, that they looked like any two women out for a date night on the town.
When it comes up they both still laugh about it and look back at it with utter fondness. The way they acted bashful and giddy for no reason other than seeing each other in date-level clothing. Vi holding the curtain aside as a joke shared between them at first, sarcasm shifting into adoration when Jinx/Powder smoothed her hand over Vi's arm guiding her into the cart. Jinx/Powder holding Vi's arm from the entrance to the seats.
Both agree, they were too lovestruck and in denial at the moment to put a name to it but it was undeniably their first date looking back.
30.) I think the classic names they have for each other are nice. Pow-Pow, Pow, Vi. I did see someone have Vi call Jinx J and honestly I think that's really cute and I'm sticking with it.
31.) Their anniversary would be really intimate I think. They'd go to work, go do their chores, make sure everything is buttoned up and taken care of for the day. More so and with enough care that people notice it every year, they never tell anyone what the day means or what it is so anyone's guess is as good as the others.
When they finish everything, they grab each other and head to the top of the roof of their shared apartment. Not regularly accessed and near impossible for anyone not familiar with the parkour required to navigate Zaun, ensuring privacy for the evening. Extra blankets, snacks and some pillows for soft padding to lie down on, where they spend the evening and into the night enjoying each others company.
Talking about whatever they want, how the other's day went, and imagining a trip far away from the twin cities. Jinx brought sparklers, quiet and impressively brilliant for how small they were. A private show for the both of them to celebrate finding their way back to each other time and time again.
32.) You couldn't separate the two of them when they have a moment alone together. They can be apart, they aren't reliant on each other as they've proven very violently, with great effort that they can be independent. With all the reconciliation, work and effort, time and love that they've shared and put into healing on their own and finally back together they are going to put it to good use.
The time separated did them both good, they are loathe to admit it but realistically they needed the time apart to grieve all of the loss they experienced. While they couldn't do it together, they can appreciate and celebrate the other now and in the moment.
And that moment just happens to call for always touching the other, holding hands, being Vi's human backpack or front pack. Vi receiving a soft and loving shoulder and back massage, having her hair played with and combed through. You name it, they're doing it at any moment they can spare. Usually and almost exclusively in their shared apartment where their guards come down and no one bothers them.
33.) I don't think they get married! They might get each other rings, they might have an extra special day, they might even say vows in their own ways. Hushed, sincere and soul deep promises made during late nights.
I don't think they ever get married officially with paperwork or witnesses, or a celebration or anything. I don't think they'd even put a name to it, they would just know. They wouldn't need anything like that for each other, they never had.
I don't think Zaun had a big wedding culture, frankly. Seeing people together for life in whatever way made sense for them is just reflected culturally in both of them.
34.) Powder can be pretty easy to cheer up most days, some well thought out treats and attention spent on her usually peps her back up. On harder days a shoulder to lean on, a grounding arm around the waist, an open ear and longer, private moments spent together are what she needs. And rarely, ever so rarely, she needs some time alone to deal with her demons in as much peace as she can get.
Vi is pretty similar. Probably minus the treats but attention and reassurances go a long way with her on bad days. Quiet time to decompress and to hold or be held and ground her in the moment are what make bad days better. Other times having Jinx/Powder cheer her on or silently but supportively watch her go a couple rounds with her boxing sets takes the tension out of the day and anxious energy out of her body.
Jinx, like the other two, has different days with different needs. Silent days are hard, because Vi has a better understanding of the weight that Jinx carries with her and that Jinx is the only one who can fight her own battles when they're in her head. The only thing she can do these days is give her what she needs and what she asks for within reason. Usually it's simple things that help her take care of herself like water, basic food and some time together on the couch in relative silence.
On days she's down right angry Vi will set her up with her training equipment if she isn't feeling like punching things. Unsurprisingly, when you're used to just blowing shit up to release tension you still need to get that explosive energy out one way or the other. This was what they found accessible and worked well, mostly, on days like these. Sometimes, on days it just doesn't work, Vi will help Jinx find a good spot with all the materials she needs along the way to blow up some shit in the fissures. These days are far and few between, and they're work shopping scenarios she can do this more regularly with more productive results.
35.) We get a pretty clear picture of what Jinx/Powders taste in music is. I couldn't put a specific name to the genre but it's pretty cool music. Rock? Pop? Indie x genres? All three and something altogether different. She's added some different genres peppered in but they're relatively obscure and can best be described as noise lol.
Vi would like classic, annoying workout playlists lol. Thinking YouTube playlist "Top 100 workout songs of all time" kind of shit. She's not pigeon holed though, she also likes dad rock, shitty pop songs, some cheesy ass country songs mixed in along with some bangers like old town road. She's a women of culture and Jinx/Powder flips her endless shit about her music taste. Endearingly of course, she can't listen to those songs anymore without thinking of Vi.
36.) I've been loving these questions because it isn't who is the most of anything with these two. They're both equally protective, it looks unique for each one.
37.) Oppenheimer vs Barbie. I still haven't seen either one so I'm taking a shot in the dark. I think they'd both want to watch both for a lot of different reasons. Women are the primary reason for both movies and both ladies. Based on reviews I'd say they would both prefer Oppenheimer but would still like moments and make references to Barbie scenes for fun.
They may or may not have Barbie themed halloween costumes, there's so many to choose from who's to say.
38.) Oof. They'd be so good with kids but would they choose to adopt one is the real question. Could Jinx ever, ever overcome the feelings of personal fault for Isha's death? People can argue all they want until they're blue in the face on this one but! It wasn't Jinx's fault Isha died, even if she still holds on to guilt for it.
Maybe the cat and/or dog would be a good start. To help Jinx see evidence that she isn't a Jinx, that not everything dies because of her existing around them. Instead, with better circumstances, a better world and a safer environment things thrive when she is around. She makes things bloom, she bursts with color and life that only she can show people and it's infectious. I still don't know if they could go through with it on purpose or if a kid falling into their lives again like Isha did would be too much for Jinx.
Maybe it would have to come from Vi in the way the kid would have to fall into Vi's life, on Vi's time. She introduces and brings the kid into both of their lives, with some weight taken off Jinx because the kid isn't Hers yet it's Vis. I can't imagine it would be easy, Vi couldn't give up on the kid and Jinx would never ask her to. It would take time for Jinx to come around, to take them in as her own kid again. She'd love them all the same but putting that hurt to rest would be hard and take time.
39.) LOL. Uh yeah they'd get along with each other's families for obvious reasons because they're kind of gone in one universe and they are each other's family in the other. It begs the question if they would ever be out about it with their alive family though.
Weirder things have happened in Zaun tbh, weirder things have happened in the world. I'm not about to come up with real world defenses here. After all the absolute shit they've been through together, the time spent growing up apart from each other independently, and their ages at this point I think they would eventually tell people.
One by one and privately. It's never a big thing but slowly, ever so slowly they let everyone they deem important know. You can guess there are parties completely unsurprised by this. There are many they don't tell.
40.) Vi shops for gifts for the holidays well ahead of time and they're normally smaller things but meaningful. She isn't rich but she is thoughtful and in addition to the gifts, if there is something she can do for people, fix something, or spend time with them she makes plans as a gift. If there isn't anything obvious to give or help with she can get a little stressed mainly because that person is Jinx/Powder.
When she already spends time with her and fixes everything when it breaks ASAP she doesn't know what else to give her. She always figures something out, Jinx/Powder helps her figure it out of course, but it ends up working out.
Jinx/Powder always, ALWAYS manages to be the best gift givers. They have an uncanny way of remembering or knowing what people mentioned wanting or needing. She also isn't rich but she is artistic and innovative, if she can't make it, create it or fix it she finds a way to procure it.
She still hasn't lost her tricks of the trade from Zaun and if there is an...unagreed upon trade between her and a shopkeeper when they aren't looking...well. No one is any wiser to it, it might be because the shopkeeper was in need of such a thing anyway.
And!!!! Woof!!! That's it guys. If you made it this far thanks for reading my scrambled narrative and thoughts. If you have any of your own ideas feel free to discuss, jump in or comment. I love reading peoples own interpretations of things and it adds to the creativity of it all.
#vijinx#so first off#I know its MOURNING dove before anyone jumps in#but it was too good to not use morning dove#vs night owl#secondly I am NOT a writer#by trade by choice by anything and I hope it's both not too obvious and also very obvious#im tagging this for people who have it black listed#im trying to respect yall!#incest tw

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising (2019)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ad15a7e1cfaad9a0621e74f44448981a/db13cc224f070544-95/s540x810/b4fd539aa95483bffe961773f53b3cd518beca78.jpg)
THAT'S IT THAT'S THE MOVIE. Midoriya realizes the Shimano siblings are in trouble and is like 'oh no, the babies!!' Meanwhile, the pro heroes realize 1-A are in trouble and are like 'oh no, the babies!!'
Devastated to report that I am officially out of new-to-me MHA movies to watch, delighted to say that I could see myself rewatching any of the four in the future--these were a lot of fun, relatively self-contained, & super low-stakes! I think World Heroes' Mission remains my favorite, followed by You're Next, Two Heroes, and finally Heroes Rising, but as with most things in MHA, it's not because I didn't like Heroes Rising--I just liked the other movies even more.
I really enjoyed the opening scene of this movie; I had no idea the League were going to appear at all, and I've been missing them at their most chaotic recently so it was a really nice surprise! (Although seeing Nine in his creepy little tube was chilling knowing what's in store for Shigaraki in the not-too-distant future 😬)
Rock Lock slay 💅
MAXEY WHITEHEAD JUMPSCARE?? Her voice is so distinct--I spent the entire movie like 'Al???' every time Katsuma spoke. My Hero Alchemist. FULLMETAL ACADEMIA.
Actually, a lot about this movie felt oddly reminiscent of other series--some of the character design was giving Pokémon; the fight scenes were giving DBZ; and the two siblings living largely-unsupervised in a quiet countryside community, the older of which is a bit aggressive and the younger of which is voiced by Maxey Whitehead, was giving FMA. My Fullmetal Pokémon Academia Z.
As usual I found 1-A very endearing throughout. Their little hero agency. Their Hero Jobs™. Finding lost pets and helping farmers and acting as lifeguards at the beach. I think having Aizawa point out that being a hero is about more than just villain fights & big flashy rescues was nice, especially when he went on to talk about how important it is to get to know and build trust with the people you're helping. Also, I was just really excited to see Aizawa in the movie, even if it was for like. Three scenes lol.
OKAY. SO. I will be the first to admit that I occasionally need to watch something twice to understand what's actually going on, which I think is especially fair in a movie like this where so much is explained through brief, broken-up flashbacks. I will also be the first to admit that I don't understand Many Things about Garaki other than I Hate Him, but most especially his plan in this movie. Like. Was Nine essentially just another High-End Nomu to him? Was he a test dummy for Shigaraki's later transformation? Giving some random guy who also happens to want to take over the world All For One's incredibly powerful quirk seems like a risky move, and sure, it worked out for the League because Thing 1 and Thing 2 did a little power switcheroo and took care of the problem for them, but if they hadn't... what was the plan to deal with Nine? Garaki, never mind the rest of the League, could not have been stupid enough to think he wouldn't eventually betray them, especially after their experiences with other villains like Overhaul, so what gives? I know that the answer to these questions is probably 'it's not worth thinking about because it doesn't actually matter to the overall story,' but that's my secret, All Might. I'm always overthinking.
I was also super confused about whether or not Nine was called 'Nine' before he was given the ability to hold nine quirks. It seems that he was? Either way, I think it was interesting that the ninth wielder of OFA had to fight a guy called Nine who kinda looked like Yoichi in some scenes but had literally nothing to do with him lol.
I DID KINDA FEEL BAD FOR NINE NGL.I have a soft spot for characters with powers that hurt them, and at least he didn't actually kill the people whose quirks he stole. Like, yeah, he was trying to take over the world, but he could have also started murdering way sooner. And his final scene? I knew what was coming, but it was still an 'oof' moment even though every time Shigaraki does anything ever I go 'go little rockstar ⭐' in my head. The flowers were a cool artistic choice also.
'That form! He reminds me of Amajiki!' Somewhere Tamaki just doubled over clutching his chest.
Todoroki slay 💅
To the surprise of absolutely no one, I was delighted that Hawks was in this movie. I may have more thoughts in the future about the Commission sponsoring the program that put 1-A on the island, but for now, Heroes Rising gave me one of my new favorite two-second MHA scenes ever. I really loved how Hawks & Shigaraki were kind of investigating what was going on from opposite sides and with different information, and that moment when Hawks was standing on the street and Shigaraki was watching from above?? Hello???? That scene was included for me specifically so I would have at least one thing to go slightly and slightly-unnecessarily feral over, ty Heroes Rising. Every day I spin those two around in my head like a Skip-It that keeps whacking me in the mental ankle.
Sero slay 💅
There was a lot of 1-A tackling/lassoing/otherwise yoinking each other out of danger in this movie, it was really cute.
NOT USING KAMINARI AS A LIGHTNING ROD.
I mentioned this but. The DBZ of it all. That last fight with Nine was so bright and fast-paced and flashy I had a little bit of trouble following it, but it was still really fun to watch.
This isn't really a criticism, but I was So Sure that Mahoro was going to use her quirk to create an illusion of Katsuma as a last-ditch effort to distract Nine that I was genuinely surprised when that didn't happen.
Hawks continues (or I guess begins) his tradition of barging in at the end of the movie in search of his baby emo. He really said I will dig Tokoyami out of this collapsed cave with my bare hands. Insert the 'I'm a mom making a difference' meme here, etc. We actually had a couple of heroes show up to Find Their Mentees Specifically, including Queen Ryukyu, which was also very sweet.
SIDE NOTE: DID ALL MIGHT PARACHUTE IN? IS THAT WHAT THAT BIG RED THING WAS IN THE BACKGROUND??? I Love Him So Much.
Aizawa being Right There when they dug the rest of 1-A out from the cave-in 🥺 After the training camp and now this, he's probably never going to let them within a fifty-mile radius of a location that looks like it could be a summer camp ever again.
I'm obsessed with Midoriya being like 'All Might will be okay with me giving OFA away because it's you 😌' and All Might being like 'You gave OFA to... him?' and OFA being like 'You most certainly did not 😌' OFA truly the most 'no <3' quirk of all time. Iconic tbh.
#this is SO LONG but i am still somewhat under the weather#& i just wanted to brain dump about this before i forgot anything i wanted to mention#i probably still forgot things i wanted to mention#ANYWAY IT WAS FUN#mha heroes rising#liza watches mha#liza blather#i will schedule this for sometime that is not 11 pm

A few years ago I did a full-length version of this tag, which I thought would be a fun thing to revisit for this NYE! (You should do this too, if you feel so inclined! count this as me tagging you.)
share your favorite memory of this year.
I can't really tell you anything but multiple flashes that I hold close to my heart-- my mother sitting up in bed laughing over something I said about my brother, my whole family dancing at my brother's wedding hand-in-hand, one of my friends saying wistfully it was so good to hear me & my teammate's voices on the phone, me driving home the first evening it felt like fall and watching the leaves swirl around the street, me seeing a tiger (!!!) in the spring. A beautiful year, if a hard one!
2. what was the highlight of your year?
Most likely my brother's wedding! It tinged the year in such a golden light.
3. list the top five books you read this year.
In no particular order (except for the Q love u Q), The Q, The Carrying, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating, and the entire Frieren series tbh.
4. list the top five movies you watched this year.
Past Lives (movie of my HEART), Twisters, Miss Potter (my first rewatch since childhood and 😭😭), The Fall Guy, and tbh Return to Me (I think of it often!)
5. list the top five tv series you binged this year.
Hmmmm....this is always difficult! I would say, Abbott Elementary (my beloved), Psych (extra points for watching with my brother), Summer Strike (peaceful show of my heart), ??????, I rewatched Makanai which I love dearly but I swear I cannot remember off the top of my head anything else I watched, liked, and finished.
6. what is the one new thing you discovered this year (could be a place/hobby/song etc)?
I started learning SQL and that somehow to me was such a joy! And after reading The Hurting Kind book Ada Limón finally got into my heart for realsies this time and I think that's magical.
7. top three albums that you played this year?
I think I'm going to do a ranking on all their own, but peeeeersonally I think the albums that most were There for me were Charm by Clairo, Vertigo by Griff, Positive Spin by Gretta Ray. (Honorable mention to TTPD that has been with me through it all, it just feels too vast for me to really put a pin in it for just this year, you know?)
8. your spotify wrapped #1 song
These Walls – Dua Lipa, which I don't fully know what to say about it except that the shiny sparkly sound somehow makes me feel so bright and emotional at the same time.
9. your spotify wrapped top artist
Taylor forever.
10. your personal song of the year.
It's not even from this year! But You've Already Won by Gretta Ray song of all time to ME. It can simply hold a whole life in its hand and I love that so. Also a little shoutout to Down Bad which can still make me cry 8 months 10,000 listens later.
11. what is an achievement that you are proud of this year?
not necessarily any singular achievements. I'm proud of how much time I've spent with my mom, I think. I'm proud of how much I've grown in regards of my work. It's been a year of quiet (if grueling) growth and I'm proud of that.
12. what are your goals for the next year?
My goals? I think mostly that I'm setting some writing goals (daily journaling, quarterly chapbooks, 20k of a book draft) and I want to pick up boxing again as I've let it lapse this month.
13. any three book releases you are excited for next year.
I'm soooo out of the loop here, alas. There's new Maggie Stiefvater that I will read, there's new Emily Henry I will probably read.
14. any three upcoming movies/tv series that you are excited for next year.
tentatively excited for new Superman, tentatively excited for second half of Wicked, always excited for more Abbott Elementary.
15. if you could change one thing about the past year what would it be?
very little! I had to go through it to come out of the other side of it. (And when it shines out it'll shine all the clearer or something of the sort.)
16. did you manage to stick to your new year’s resolutions this year?
Not even a little! I was going to use this year to try to draw something every day, which I failed horribly at, but I think that's only to be expected. Still, I want to use my resolutions to create more little spaces of FUN in my life again. I've missed them horribly.
17. do you have any new year’s resolutions for the next year?
My only real, true type of resolution is simply to have FUN. While I've still had lots of big, beautiful joys this year, I've not delighted as I ought to, and I want to bring that part of myself back. Learn some new dances, learn to make sourdough, things along that line. Just get back into the motions of living and find myself swept up by the verve of it all. That's my one bit of resolve.
18. favorite meme of the year?
I could not tell you the name of a meme right now if you told me my life depended upon it. I love the bit we have of using substitutes because we don't do suicidal ideation anymore here babes. I love the resurgence of the children's hospital red meme.
19. which month was the most fun this year?
The most fun?! I mean, probably...October? It's hard to tell because there were challenges in so many! But I laughed the most in October so it must be then.
20. if you could tell yourself something at the beginning of this year based on what you know right now, what would it be?
I mean...I think more than anything I'd just want to reassure myself of the past that it's really, really okay, and you have more strength and power within you than you might think. Also, even though it sucks and it's uphill work, if you want this to be a place full of love you have to be the one to put it there, you can't just luck your way into it, you yourself have to put your heart on the line and become love itself to the people you're given to care for. And that's something wonderful to take part in!
21. favorite viral trend of the year?
I looooove the international Mikus with ALL my heart. They're what make life worth living 💛💛
22. list any three new things you learned this year (could be recipes, a new skill, etc.)
This is the hardest thing for me to recall. I learned how to make arrozcaldo at last? And I started learning SQL as I said. I started properly, FINALLY learning the different forms of poetry at the beginning of the year (I know, I know, I'm shamefully self-taught) but a lot of it has fallen out of my brain. I need to set it more in my bones, I think.
23. how would you describe your year in a word?
Enduring, is a good one I think. It's been quite a year for gritting my teeth and bearing it, alas. But it's also been a year of fruitful, beautiful friendship and fellowship, a year of becoming greater company to myself and to others. Luminous would be another fitting word, actually! There's been a lot of beauty and grace granted to me, and I am very, very grateful. There's something bittersweet in leaving behind any year, and this year just as much as any! I'll never live it again. But I can live a new one, and that's just as magical in its own right. I hope I'm brave enough to meet it!

Saying that No Game, No Life is wasted potential isn’t a particularly new take, but still, I can’t help but to think about it. When I first watched it, I honestly didn’t notice how weird it is, how shock-full of invasive fanservice it was, just that it was colorful and had an engaging plot – I only learned of that when rewatching clips and I honestly can’t understand how I just not noticed those things at all and that makes me wonder how much of it is the editor’s demands or the author decided to put there (because, in order to sell, there needs to be a bit or a lot of otaku pandering).
In hindsight, Sora and Shiro were really different from other isekai protagonists. Most of them were really “normal people given powers, reflecting the average audience of these works, with varying degrees of success. Sora does seem like the standard isekai protagonists at first: people who feel they don’t fit on Earth and would be glad to turn their virtual escapism into a real one.
But, the more you watch, the more you realize there’s nothing normal about these two: they’re both batshit insane. They don’t concoct crazy plans because the situation demands them to, but rather they’re the ones pushing forward those crazy plans, they’re the ones betting everything on the table in order to win a game. And, above all, they want to have fun doing it.
Tet didn’t just bring them to the new world, but he spirited them away. Before the term “isekai’d” was popularized in anime fandoms, the term was “spirited away” (just like the movie) when a god or entity decided to take someone from their world into a new one; there are hundreds of stories like that in many cultures before isekais. Tet saw them as perfect for his plans and thus he didn’t give them a lot of say.
And it makes me wonder what made Sora and Shiro reject their world so deeply, before being spirited away. They are in their own room playing games and criticizing real life for being such a crappy game. They probably were into e-sports or something (which, given their ability, wouldn’t be a big problem), and that would explain how they could afford all that stuff and why they are so attached to their stuff, that's all they have besides each other. I remember there was a flashback with their parents or guardians just walking past them and I think that’s a great example of minimalism – it teases you into thinking what actually happened, but that’s the only it’s needed to explain their perspective: no one really likes them in Earth. Maybe they tried to make friends and couldn’t, maybe everyone looked at them for being different. This makes plausible why they just stop working when they’re separate (something the anime never had time to explore, but I’m sure it would play a role in the later game).
Also, one thing that attracted most was that the author (Yuu Kamiya, or Thiago Furukawa Lucas) was born and lived in Brazil for most of his early years, before moving to Japan. As a Brazilian, I always thought that to be amazing, because I can see some “Brazilianity” in NGNL. I mean, I hope I’m not seeing things that aren’t there, but an author adds the flavor they grew up with consciously or not. Sora’s “I love humanity” shirt reminds me of the catchphrase “Sou brasileiro e não desisto nunca” (I’m Brazilian and never give up) and even the Brazilian method of resourcefulness (called “jeitinho”, check r/ItHadToBeBrazil and you’ll get it), which might be a component on how Sora and Shiro act in their crazy plans. It makes me want to try to read isekai not as an escapist fantasy, but rather as a metaphor for immigration.
The series also has a degree of deconstruction: Tet rewrote the rules of the world to avoid that catastrophic war and centuries later it feels like the inhabitants of Disboard learned nothing, there’s still racism and high demands for war, and humans are an endangered species. So, he needs Sora and Shiro to break through this probably teach a lesson, so that they can unite all the peoples of Disboard in the best game ever against Tet.
But I don’t think we’ll ever see that. The jeitinho has a dark side, represented by the saying “Pra Deus, até faço gol de mão” (I’ll even score a goal with my hand for God), and a Brazilian can understand how it applies here. Kamiya got involved in a plagiarism case and I’m not sure if his reputation rebounded or not. Either way, I have to admit I haven’t followed the light novel’s updates since a bit later after the anime ending, but the fact no one talks about it means that I guess we can only expect the worse.
Either way, it’s been over 10 years since I watched NGNL and it was something that really let a mark on me. I honestly think isekai opens the possibility to explore so many questions and scenarios. Even if NGNL recycled certain very very questionable tropes and pandering, I do believe it did try to do something different and fun with it.
