thinking about lacie (as i often do) and how one of the only moments we get to see her outside of another character’s flashback is when oswald is traveling back in time to kill her. and she sees her brother, and knows that her death is going to result in him doing this. and she looks at oswald, as she looks at you, the reader, and she says ‘i’m sorry.’ lacie is sorry for being pushed to the decision she has to make, one that will cause countless deaths and the suffering of many, one that *begins the story of pandora hearts.* lacie is not cruel. lacie does not WANT people to suffer. and yet, lacie goes through with it, because it is the KINDEST action she can take here. it is the ONLY way that the story has a chance of a happy ending, and she is TELLING YOU THIS!!! in one of the only moments she is living breathing at the same time as the other characters!! as they themselves are breaking outside the narrative!!

I'm gonna say something that 90% of you will hate but it's what's on my heart—now that we've seen Pedro and Vanessa speak in every interview about how this couple is so passionately in love and dedicated to each other and have been married for decades—I wish we could let this be the ONE Pedro character whose fanfic isn't completely overwhelmed by x reader fic instead of even consiiiidering respecting and exploring his canon relationship 😔

Why has the EAH fandom felt so weirdly hostile these past few months?

i went into the itasaku tag and there's a lot of art of them with minato. (if you just went WTF WHY? it's because in the big favorite character poll that happened semi recently, they're the top 3 favorite characters.) anyway obviously i started to go "hmmm could that ship WORK though"

here is what i have so far

itachi and sakura accidentally time travel directly into the middle of the third shinobi war. this forces an unlikely team-up thing for survival.

i think itachi is so committed to his villain bit he would rather fuck himself over royally than team up with sakura. sakura is SLIGHTLY more likely to play nice but still needs dire circumstances as motivation. so maybe: they end up immediately in enemy territory with their konoha headband (sakura) and uchiha eyes (itachi) and become immediate targets. suddenly sakura is like "hey i need you to kill everyone" and instead of doing that itachi coughs up blood. she can point him at enemies though and he'll genjutsu them and that works great. like this

so sakura is like "okay i need your help as a more experienced ninja for my own survival" bc yeah sakura is a badass, but she's never had to go on the run before or fight more than a handful of ninja at once. meanwhile itachi is breathing better than he has in years after one (1) session with sakura and suddenly a temporary team up seems like a great idea. like yes he wants sasuke to kill him but in order for that to happen he needs to live long enough to un-time travel himself.

however. neither of them have any idea what's happening. they get into stupid nerd fights over details of historical events. they cite publications at each other. frequently it turns out both of them are wrong. they also argue over whether or not they should seek help from konoha

sakura: you don't have to TELL the uchiha you murder them all in the future???? just use your fancy eyes to legitimize being an uchiha so they believe us!

itachi: (silent internal emoting)

meanwhile jiraiya has picked up on the most INSANE rumors of a tsunade impersonator smashing forests and mountains and shit. she may or may not have an even worse orochimaru impersonator with her. jiraiya sends minato to investigate.

there's a lot of fanboy debate over if minato could beat itachi in a fight. and for the purposes of this fic, i'm going to say: yes, yes he can. and it's incredibly upsetting for both itachi AND sakura

minato, to sakura, while sitting on itachi: okay so if you ARE an impersonator, your tsunade costume is really bad

sakura: (TERRIFIED SILENT SCREAMING?)

minato: but your jutsu impersonation is pretty spot on.....?

minato: (looks down between his knees at itachi) did you do that with your..... sharingan....... mr. uchiha bastard?

itachi: (has never been more confused in his life. he's never lost a fight this bad. he assumed losing a fight this bad would mean he'd die. he's not confused about being called a bastard though. that just happens.)

then idk. maybe they tell minato they're time travelers and he takes them back to jiraiya. the mood is very "minato is strong and hot and friendly. this is both sakura and itachi's type they didn't know they had. but also. help."

jiraiya: hmmm well, this one's obviously an uchiha, but YOU need to prove you're really tsunade-hime's apprentice. tell me...... what are her measurements

sakura: (pulverizes a boulder with her bare fist) does that answer your question or should i demonstrate on something else ( :

jiraiya: wow it's a mini-tsunade no further questions!!!!

i think i want minato to be in the 18-19 range so it's right around the time of itachi's birth. they decide itachi and sakura shouldn't go to konoha to reduce time travel shenanigans, such as accidentally preventing their own births. it seems like itachi would especially be at risk for butterfly effecting himself

sakura: (thoughtful expression)

itachi: no.

sakura: i don't say anything!

minato: ???? aren't you allies?

sakura: inside joke :) don't worry about it :)

so minato ends up their konoha proxy. he goes and researches un-time traveling them and then shows up and acts.... really charming? like when minato tells you everything will be okay, you believe him. and he's SMART and HANDSOME and once SETTLES AN ARGUMENT OVER WHERE THE RICE COUNTRY CAPITAL, WHICH MOVES ON AVERAGE EVERY THREE MONTHS DURING THE WAR, CURRENTLY IS. he's not even condescending that they're both wrong. itachi keeps thinking about him wrestling him down into submission and he doesn't know why. sakura is rethinking her personal definition of "dreamy"

sakura after minato leaves: this is SO upsetting. he's not even my type. i like dark and brooding.

itachi: what

sakura: DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT

and theeeen...... maybe they both get so sexually frustrated over minato they have sex with each other, idk don't worry about it

e.g. i'm currently writing a buddie wip and the boys are getting drunk on tequila and eddie just posed the question to buck: which star wars characters would we both be? and now theyre going about making their comparisons in ways that show what each of them loves about the other and i'm tapping away at the keyboard, incredulous, like oh my GOD THIS IS GOLD while at the same time thinking OH MAN HOW IS HE COMING UP WITH THIS SHIT? Reading through QotD and this somewhat obscure Armand/Daniel quote is driving me insane. “Oh, we shall go to the stars together! Nothing can stop us.” THEMMMMMM 🩷 Right before the concert and all Daniel can think of is how in love he is.

ANON yes this line is so good!! And he's so full of love, he's bursting with it!

And it's even better when you remember that it comes on the heels of Daniel asking Armand if he's happy with how he turned out. Daniel is manic and riding the high of finally being immortal. It's Halloween! It's the night of Lestat's concert! Everything is a spectacle to him, the way the street lights glint off windows, the kids racing by in costumes, the sounds. He's elated.

But also, Armand had always vehemently refused to turn him. They had horrible, vicious fights about it. We don't know exactly why he left six months before this but it's a solid guess that it was because he was fed up with Armand not giving him the blood and (imo) hoping Armand would chase him and finally relent. Victory is his!

But he worries that Armand isn't happy with him. He's so all over the place and Armand is trying to usher them safely to the show despite the danger to their kind is facing. Armand is focused on the task at hand and Daniel needs reassurance that he is okay, that Armand does not regret it, that this is what Armand wanted.

And this is the line in this book that I wanted painted on my wall. I want it illustrated and framed and hung above my bed! Because it gets me every freaking time:

"I love it well enough the way you turned out," he had whispered with a sudden irrepressible smile, the warmth still there. "You're my firstborn," he'd said. Was there a catch in his throat, a sudden glancing from right to left as if he'd found himself cornered? Back to the business at hand. "Be patient. I am being afraid for us both, remember?"

🥺🥺 I just. Even now I'm tearing up a little because it's so sweet, it's a genuine moment of emotion from Armand, who is actually overcome with love and pride for Daniel, even amidst this chaos. And it seems that for the time being at least, that is all the reassurance Daniel needs.

We shall go to the stars together! 😭😭

God, they deserve to. I know they have a rough road, but I do firmly believe they had some really good times together in those first few years before things got really tense, and even then, they had good nights, good weeks, good moments until they finally split.

This is why I really hope they have a lot more fun together in the post-canon era, after they reconnect and rekindle that love we see here. Their love is so powerful and special. This is why I love them together so much.

So, ANYWAY...

I'm may be writing a fanfic about an alternate universe Agatha All Along where Sharon Davis never dies. I may be sitting at around 5000 words right now. I may have hyperfocused today. Anyway, here's a short chapter that will make very little sense without context, but has Agatha and Rio getting close. 🙃

Chapter 3 - Let my song teach you...

“After all these years, sweetheart.” The words were cutting, yet sultry. They danced upon the air like razorblades, each one ready to open old wounds with surgical precision.

Agatha found herself standing in the same room she had just been minutes ago. The same ochre couch, the same lamps, the same smashed turntable, but now everything had a pale green tint to it. The couch seemed less ochre in the light and more chartreuse, while the lamps produced no light at all. And then there was the body. Slumped neatly against the dry bar lay Agatha Harkness. One could say she looked asleep if they excused the large cauterized gash that ran along her stomach.

“I’m-” Agatha began.

“Dead. Yes.” The sound came from the only other out of place object, a single woman leaning against the piano on the far side of the room. In her right hand she held a dagger that she was absentmindedly digging into the piano’s finish, while her left held a small lantern that was giving off the green glow that tinted the room.

“He was never yours, you know,” the figure continued on. “To sacrifice yourself for him of all people, I didn’t think you had it in you.”

I have learned the lesson…

“Shut your mouth,” Agatha growled at the figure, her eyes still trained on her lifeless body.

“Such harsh words.” The figure slammed the knife into the piano. The blade stuck with a thunk, but left the piano singing an off chord filling the air with a chill. “Is that the thanks I get for giving you such special treatment?”

Of all that’s foul and fair…

“Special treatment?” Agatha finally turned her head to look at the figure. “You took him! You took everything!” Her hands balled into fists, her eyes misted over. “That’s all you can ever do is take!”

“I gave you time!” The figure screamed back at Agatha, pulling out the knife as the piano protested again.

Our love was forged in fire…

“You gave me pain!” Agatha spun towards the encroaching figure.

“That’s what life is, sweetheart! You think I enjoyed this!” The figure pointed her knife accusingly at Agatha. “I love you,” the words were soft, unlike the knife. They hung in the air like lyrics to a song waiting for the next note to catch up.

Water, Earth, and Air…

“I hate you,” Agatha spat back.

“If only you meant that,” came the figure’s reply.

Stubbornly Agatha dropped her eyes. “I need more time.”

The spell is cast…

“Well, I need a favor,” the figure said now inches from Agatha, her knife settling languidly against Agatha’s chin.

Agatha glanced up. The dark pools of the figure’s eyes caught her, trapped her, pulled her down into memories of nights long ago- nights where pain and pleasure came together like old lovers, twinned together in the throes of carnality.

How long it lasts…

“So?” the figure prompted.

I cannot divine…

“You want him dead.”

“You catch on quick,” the figure leaned in, the knife long since falling to her side. Her breath was hot, smelling faintly of jasmine and fresh iron.

The road is there…

Agatha leaned closer, tasting the mix of life and death hanging in the air.

“How,” Agatha murmured.

And so I dare…

There was no answer, just a graze of flesh against flesh and a familiar sharp weight falling into Agatha’s pocket.

“Sweetheart.” The words flowed against her skin like live electricity.

“Rio,” the word was like a spell, and with it the world came back into focus.

To risk this heart of mine!
