#i get my influencers from youtube and it's just makeup and skincare and again some vegans

omg at first i read "if you had thousands of followers you could become an influencer" as "a thousand followers" and i was like 😂 no you could not 😂😂😂 by today's standards you'd probably need closer to a 100,000+ (depending on the platform) but i guess that technically counts as "thousands" 😅
#i don't follow a lot of influencers on instagram anymore so idk about there#it's like pretty much just veganfluencers and i have yet to see a brand deal#afaik you need like millions on tiktok but it's easier to get a ton of followers on tiktok so it kinda counts as thousands lol#i get my influencers from youtube and it's just makeup and skincare and again some vegans#and those also need millions before they get brand deals#(i don't see a lot of vegans pushing products for money)#(their own cookbooks don't count)#anyway. this was a tangent that went on for too long#ptl liveblog#my caps#shoutout to me for not watching this first thing in the morning#and for knowing that i should eat and get at least some things i want to do out of the way because this could easily become my whole day#......i still have to write though i'm already severely behind

How to Glow Up for School
Got an ask for tips to glow up, thought I'd make a separate post for it too.
⭐Workout⭐:
There's no rule that the gym is the only place to workout.
Youtube videos: There are tons and tons of great workout videos from people with a large following. My favourites are Caroline Girvan, growingannanas, Pamela Reif and Madfit. Go get sweaty!
Makeshift weights: You can water bottles filled with water/sand as weights or buy ankle weights to put around your wrists as you get stronger.
Run: This is an amazing source of cardio. I gave up a while back on this because I detest running, but it really does work. Plug in your headphones and go for a run in nature.
Dance: Dancing is a really fun way to workout. Try Zumba, hip-hop or K-pop routines. Hell, even Just Dance has some good ones. Join a class if you want to stay accountable.
Let me know if you want me to drop my workout routine too
⭐Diet⭐:
Honestly, I can't give much advice here, because I'm not qualified enough. Go to a nutritionist to see if there's anything you can do. If not, eat plenty of protein and fibre, limit your junk food intake and drink lots of water. Make lots of salads and fruit bowls. Overnight oats are healthy, filling and delicious.
What I like to do, is eat everything in moderation. Say I've had a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner. I won't deny myself a nice bowl of ice cream (again, not a sundae, the key is moderation). But if I've had greasy food for lunch and takeout for dinner, I'll probably settle for fruit instead. Know that you can eat without punishing yourself, but remember not to go overboard. Food is fuel, remember.
⭐Other tips⭐:
Skincare: Don't make it too fancy. I know influencers and the like have those weird 15-step skincare routines, but it isn't necessary. I use the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and the most basic Cetaphil face lotion I could find along with an organic lip balm my mom buys. It works like a charm and its not too fancy. I also take an ABC smoothie (Apple, Beetroot, Carrot + some water.) This is such a game-changer.
Abundance mindset: I like to think of the universe constantly working in my favour. It's always looking out for me, and I'm the luckiest girl in the world. What you think is what you attract. If you think negatively, you will begin to see only bad things around you. Stay positive.
Wardrobe: Go thrifting, or DIY some old clothes. Pinterest has tons of amazing ideas. Paint your T-shirts, dye your skirts, make cute jewellery at home. There are no limits.
Makeup: I don't recommend it honestly. I'm more or less anti makeup to the point where I only own two pieces of makeup(eyeliner and lip gloss) and even those are used sparingly. Don't get used to your painted face. Your natural beauty is beautiful; and should not be hidden. There's something so amazing in someone who is confident in their own skin. Own yourself, and people will love you more for it.
Hope this helps you become the best version of yourself. Baby steps to your goal, okay? This takes time and with consistency, you WILL get there. Stay lovely. xoxo

'A Perilous Journey' liveblog!!!!
GOOD MORNINGGGG its season two timeee!!!
I decided I'm watching episode 1 now, and episode 2 in a few hours. My shift starts weirdly late in the day so it works out.
As always, spoilers below the cut!!
Before I even get started I love how this episode is called a perilous journey. It's not quite the book title but damn near close 😂
0:10 ITS A RECAP BAYBEEE

4:06 is that supposed to be a time magazine dupe
4:06 I also think its hilarious that Curtain's original plan was to take credit for solving the emergency by just. mass brainwashing. good plan there bud, very sustainable
4:06 but like isnt he wanted now??? Isnt that a thing? In the books the government was actively looking for him so tf is this
4:14 THE OPENING IS BAAAACK
4:14 "skip opening" how insulting. No
4:42 THE SHORTCUT!!!!!
4:50 who decided to make Constance's screen an arctic clown ship 😂😂

5:50 fucking god complex strikes again
6:01 he looks like he's wearing a straight jacket on that back cover. Probably appropriate considering he's uhhhh Like That
6:20 god I hate him. Stop being manipulative challenge (impossible)
6:26 YES ABSOLUTELY sadness, anger, frustration, anxiety, all of the shit makes happiness stand out. Without the struggle our lives would be shaded of grey because happiness wouldnt be distinguishable
6:43 why does this sound like homeopathic medicine
7:03 is this like a weird TV hypnosis thing. Is he doing the fake happiness thing on her without her consent

7:15 Rhonda as usually you look fucking fire

9:24 GRUMPY MAN IS GRUMPY
9:37 calling Nathaniel "some guru with all this influence" REALLY makes him sound like he tries on makeup products and does skincare routines on youtube 😂
9:41 "we seem pretty safe" oh babygirl if that's not the nail in the coffin
10:05 they really nailed the "local man does something weird" vibes in this scene
10:17 dont tell me it already happened. Oh no
10:27 OH SHIT THERE IT IS
10:39 oh my gosh he's such a DADDD.
10:45 "a tiny go bag or gorp". I love him so much
10:54 HE WITTLED IT FOR THE BUCKET STOOOOP
11:03 AND THE DEPENDENCY ARC CONTINUESSSSS
11:10 "it's my job to take care of you also. Additionally." He understands she's been on her own up until this point and acknowledges that she can handle herself, but also that she's a kid who needs help just like anyone else. CRYING.
11:15 she didn't even put it in the bucket, just her pocket 😂😂 she's so reluctant to accept
11:25 MILLIGAN PLEASE GET A BUCKET HAHAHA
11:30 okay that truck is incredible LOL
11:40 .....why would you do that to a grapefruit. What did the grapefruit do to you huh

16:18 and here it is, the kids have been told no, so they will find their own way
16:41 oh shit, they have a short timeframe then
16:47 I cant tell if this is manipulative or Constance not being able to contain herself. Like I doubt she would do this in front of the others but she's already shown she trusts everyone more than she lets on, soooo
17:09 is this Constance's room??
17:16 HAHA I KNEW IT she DID hug Rhonda to get something out of it

33:18 parents. PARENTS. Also this kind of is like Reynie although Miss Perumal has never seen him in an active life and death situation like this
33:23 Rhonda is once again the voice of reason
33:27 "they believed us" AWWWWWW
33:45 shit is it already over??? Damn those are some long credits then
Wow, that was really good. The kids met back up, they had an awkward start but fell into that familiarity almost immediately. The parents were very parental. Although in hindsight, Sticky's were pretty much absent. What the fuck's up with that??
And the biggest tragedy is that there was no "roll credits" moment. They didn't namedrop the episode title 🙃 please bring that back in the test of the season I loved that so much
This took a lot longer to do than I thought, so I'm waiting to watch episode 2 until later tonight. I cant wait to talk about it with y'all!!!

TT didi, aapse sasti skincare tips maang sakte hain please? Sorry aapka blog stalk kiya thoda sa (bahut sa) Thanks :')
Henlo!
Definitely maang sakte hain ji! I don't know your exact skintype so imma give you some general tips ok?
My primary advice is ki don't get influenced by these million step routines that people are doing on insta and youtube. These are not sustainable, and mostly unnecessary. A simple and consistent routine is best. Wash your face in the morning, put on some moisturizer and SPF, the makeup you want, and then wash it off the moment you get back home and moisturize again. Raat ko kuch meds/serum/oil waghera lagaana ho toh that, right before bed. Do a mask and exfoliate once a week. Basssss. Less is more.
Drugstore products are justttttt fine. Dunno if you’re in India or anywhere else, but Neutrogena has good stuff wherever I’ve been; I especially like their Hydroboost range. Other desi brands I like are Lotus Herbals, Khaadi, Himalaya, Plum Goodness. I have my eye on Dr. Sheth’s, Dot & Key, Juicy Chemistry, and Neemli as well. Your local chemist will also have a ton of products that aren’t fancy or branded or anything, but have the active ingredients you need (like Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, anti-acne meds like Retin-A, Adapalene, Benzoyl Peroxide, etc.) They have some good saste SPFs as well!!
Don't go crazy with exfoliation. I speak from experience; I went and bought one of those face washing brushes and gave my perfectly fine skin a case of adult acne that took 2+ years to properly clear up (coz I wrecked my skin's natural barrier.) Those brushes are mostly for people who wear a heavy amount of makeup and need to get it off thoroughly. If you have a simple bb cream + kajal type of makeup routine like I do, just washing your face with normal facewash, and exfoliating your face once/twice a week is more than enough.
I'm a big fan of natural remedies. My go-to face mask is bentonite clay (Aztec Secret - half a kilo for 500 - 700 rs lasts like a wholeass year) and neem powder with ACV and a few drops of tea tree oil. I mix up rose water and glycerine in a spray bottle and spritz my face with it every now and then to keep it hydrated. If I ever do need to remove heavier-than-average makeup that I've worn for an event, then I mostly use coconut/olive oil coz I find it works better for me than store-bought makeup remover. Wipe all the makeup off, and then wash with normal face wash, and done. Rosehip oil at night makes your skin nice and glowy. Try Jojoba as well. (But for the love of god, do your research well before applying anything. Just coz something is natural doesn’t mean it’s harmless. Do not use harsh stuff like lemon/baking soda or scrub hard with sugar on your facial skin, coz it’s gonna wreck it!!!!!!!! Patch test everything!!!!)
Drink a tonnnnnnnn of water. I’m the worst person to give this advice coz I’m hella dehydrated all the fucking time, but do as TT didi says, not as her dumb ass does.
Don’t touch your face. Just don’t. I’ve been following this for fucking yearssssssssss now, even pre-COVID. The less you have things in contact with it, the better. (It makes my mom super mad lol, coz I don’t let her touch/kiss my face anymore.) Tie up your hair off your face, change your pillowcases, and disinfect your phone regularly (or better yet use headphones, instead of pressing it up against your face.)
Don’t get toooooo fucking hung up on skincare. I’m guilty of this as well, to the point where I used to OBSESS about each pimple and mark I got on my face and bemoaned it as if it was the end of the world. Now I just dab some meds/tea tree oil on it and leave it the fuck alone. Skincare is yet another thing that’s been weaponized by social media where you feel like a failure if you don’t have perfect, flawless skin. But that’s not realistic AT ALL. Follow influencers who show their skin with acne and pigmentation and fine lines and all, to normalize what NORMAL HUMAN BEING SKIN LOOKS LIKE.

PART I || PART II
PART III of X

⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⋆⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶
“This is a really nice car,” Wanda commented as she settled into the passenger seat.
You had picked her up in the morning. You thought she looked cute because she was still clearly a little sleepy. She grumbled about not really being a morning person, and you had to chuckle quietly as she squinted at you.
You both had gotten coffee and a to-go avocado toast before hitting the road. You wanted to get Wanda there a little early so she can time to get ready for the photoshoot. You didn’t think she needed much done though. She had a natural dewy look to her skin and clearly took good care of herself.
“It better...I spent over $200,000 on it. It’s my baby.” You say, grinning as Wanda laughed.
The ride was pretty good. You felt like Wanda needed some time to fully wake up, but once she had gotten a quarter way into her coffee, she seemed to perk up a little.
“So what is the work thing you’ve got in the Palm Desert? You sure it’s okay if I show up too?” Wanda asked, adjusting her sunglasses on her face.
You nodded, leaning on your car door as you kept one hand on the wheel. “Yeah, it’s just a get together for this kid’s birthday. There’s going to be a lot of people there and free booze.”
“What are you exactly going to be doing there?” She asked with an eyebrow raised.
You turn over to her, smirk on your lips. “Guess you’ll just have to come and see.”
Wanda laughed, pushing you lightly as she shook her head. You turn your head back, plugging in your phone into the aux chord to play some music. An old song you produced and wrote started playing. Wanda hummed excitedly as she put her coffee cup back down and turned up the volume.
“Oh my god, I love this song,” she said, closing her eyes and moved to the beat of the music. You had to refrain from laughing because it was now more apparent she didn’t know who you were at all.
“You like Lady Phantom?” You ask her. Wanda opens her eyes and grins as she nods.
“Yeah, her songs always get me into a dancing mood. I love the remixes she does too. I tried to look her up recently since she started blowing up, but she doesn’t take photos or do live interviews. The only photos I could find were her in sweaters with the hood and mask on. Even her official Instagram doesn’t have any photos of her. I’ve been trying to get tickets to her show, but lately, they just sell out so quick.” Wanda looks slightly disappointed, and it takes everything to not reveal right then and there that you’re Lady Phantom
“Don’t worry...I’m sure you’ll get to see her live soon.” You say, encouragingly.
⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⋆⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶
When you arrived at her photoshoot, Wanda insisted that you come and sit. It’s fine as long as you’re not taking pictures or recording. It’s also not a secret that Wanda is a spokesperson for this brand.
She goes away to do her hair and makeup, and you’re left sitting in a chair near the set.
Movement by the side of your eye catches your attention, and you look over to see the photographer coming onto the set, and you recognized him. You had briefly met him at one of the parties David was hosting, so he knew you were Lady Phantom. He was a big fan of David’s work.
Isaac was his name, you think.
The photographer turns, catching eyes with you briefly, turning his head back but then whipping over again when he recognized you. He ditches whoever he’s talking to and walks his way over.
“Oh my, what are you doing here?” He exclaimed happily, and you stood up to give him a quick hug.
“Just here accompanying Wanda,” you say casually.
“Oh, you know her?” Isaac asked. You nodded.
“Yes, we just met recently, but I do absolutely adore her. She’s fascinating, don’t you think?” You say, your words hinting a deeper meaning underneath.
Isaac nodded carefully. “Yes, there’s really no one better than her for this. I’ll make sure she has a good photoshoot today.”
You give him a nod in thanks with a smile. He’s about to leave when you call to his attention again.
“Wanda doesn’t exactly know I’m Lady Phantom,” you say.
“Of course, I’ll be discreet.” Isaac nods quickly.
After he leaves, it’s about another half an hour before Wanda comes out and your breath hitches slightly. Since it’s a skincare brand, they wanted Wanda to have a more natural look to her skin. Her hair is mussed carefully, and she’s wearing a silk bathrobe for the shoot.
“How do I look?” She asks you, twirling around for you and her bare thigh flashes you.
“I’m in disbelief,” you say with a smirk, “I might have to switch skincare brands.”
Wanda laughed, bumping her shoulders with you lightly. “I’ll have you know, my genetics are just this good too.”
You roll your eyes at her playfully. “Alright, alright, all hail your genetics. Shoo, miss perfect, your shoot is about to start.”
She sticks her tongue out at you before jogging off.
The shoot was going well. You were enamored by how she could turn on a switch when she was working. They managed to shoot a quick 30-second ad and finish the photoshoot in 4 hours.
“Good work today, everyone!” Isaac said as they were finishing packing up. Wanda finished changing, and you were going to grab some early dinner before heading over to the party.
“Wow, I have never had such a great shoot before. I feel like they were super accommodating for me.” Wanda commented as you both were seated at the restaurant.
Isaac had shown her every shot and asked for her opinion on nearly everything. There were a couple times that Wanda said she thought she could do a photo better or a scene better and Isaac let her do it.
You shrug, smiling at her. “You are their spokesperson.”
You talked about her photoshoot for the duration of the meal. You had given your opinion in certain areas, which she did take into account.
You looked at your watch and hummed, wiping your lips and called your waitress over.
It was the evening now, and you needed to make to the party soon. You put your card on the bill and Wanda is finishing her last bite as she makes a sound of disapproval.
“No, you paid for my meal the first time we met! Let me get this one,” Wanda says trying to grab the bill, but you quickly pull it away and have the waitress take it to run your card.
“It’s fine, Wanda really. It’s the least I can do since you’re going to be stuck with me here until tomorrow.” You tell her, and she rolls her eyes.
“You say that like it’s a bad thing! You totally saved my ass today for the photoshoot and taking me to get free booze. Ugh, fine. But the next one is on me!”
You put your hands up to mollify her, and the waitress comes back for your signature. You sign the bill and usher Wanda into the car to get going.
You pull up to a mansion that’s gated. The guard looks at you, and you flash him an invitation card. The guard nods and opens the gates.
“Jesus, you really were not kidding when you said he was a trust fund kid.” Wanda whistles.
You snorted in response. You drop her at the entrance where there are people already.
“Why don’t you head in first? I need to park the car, set up some stuff, and find the birthday kid.” You tell Wanda, and she nods.
“Hope you can find me in this mini island,” she says, and you laugh.
You park your car in his underground parking (seriously, what does his family do?) and text the kid that you’re here. He comes to meet you, helping you with some of your equipment.
You make small talk, and he doesn’t seem like a complete dickhead, just very privileged. You’re not set to play until later in the evening, and you told him that you would only be playing for two hours. The kid waves it off, saying it’s ‘totally cool’ as he’s scheduled some other DJs to come play before and after. You were just there for the prime time.
He leads you into the kitchen to let you know to get whatever you want and to come to prepare whenever you thought was appropriate. You thank him and wave him off. You look around and grab a beer bottle because you didn’t trust the open fruit punch bowl.
You walk to the backyard and see the stage set up with someone already playing. You didn’t recognize who it was, but the beat wasn’t bad. You see a giant pool and hot tub with many people around it. There are a couple of grills out, and you see what you assume would be catering.
Looking to your left, you immediately spot Wanda and a small crowd around her. It seems like there were a couple fans and followers who were at this party and recognized her. She was basking in the sun, chatting happily with some of the people surrounding her. You leaned against a ledge, just watching her as you drank from your beer.
She spotted you from a distance, throwing her hand up in the air and waved you over. You smiled, getting back up and walked your way over.
“There you are! I was beginning to wonder if you ditched me,” she said playfully with a smirk. You laughed and shook your head.
“Wouldn’t dream of it. Just watching from the distance as you interact with your adoring fans,” you say, and pink hue blushes over her cheeks as she slaps your arm lightly. You grin at her and grab her hand to start pulling her away.
“Alright, alright, she can sign autographs and take pictures later, I gotta borrow her.” You tell the crowd who groan lightly in disappointment.
She’s laughing when you finally pull her to the bar, ordering two drinks. She sips it and hums happily.
“Oh, tastes good. I love fruity drinks.” She says and takes another sip. You take a sip of your own drink and lean your head against your closed fist on the table.
“So, we are here at the party now,” Wanda says with a raised brow. “Can you tell me now what you’re doing here?”
You shake your head languidly with a grin. “Nope, I’m still technically off the clock. Let's enjoy ourselves because we’re going to be here for a while.”
Wanda makes a sound of disappointment when you don’t tell her what exactly you’re here for but nods nonetheless. She orders a couple shots and you both down them back like pros. You both meet some guys and girls who you drink and dance with.
Wanda’s laughing as she dances, grabbing your hands as she twirls around and stumbles lightly into you. You’re careful about wrapping your arms around her as you steady her.
A couple of hours have passed, and you’re both just having a blast. Trust fund kid does know how to throw the party as he also has activities, games, and performances there. You take Wanda over to a table and grab her some water and walk over to the catering to get her some food.
You place the plate down in front of her, and she munches happily on the food.
“Hopefully that will sober you up a little. Can’t have you completely checked out when I’m working.” You tell her. Wanda narrows her eyes at you again when you say that.
“Are you going to tell me now?” She asks, and you laugh and shake your head. You spend the next hour getting Wanda to sober up, and it’s working pretty well. It seemed like she just needed to eat. You both meet up with some of the people you’ve met over the day, and they’re standing at the front of the stage.
“Hey, there you guys are!” One of the guys say. “Thought you were going to miss it. The birthday boy has been telling everyone he’s got a huge surprise soon. A little birdie told me he was able to book a famous DJ.”
Wanda turns to you to see if you know anything about that, but you just shrug your shoulders at her. You were supposed to go play soon, so you needed to leave.
“I’ll be right back,” you whisper in her ear, and she nods, turning her attention back to the group.
You hurry on back to the stage and check that everything for you is set up and ready. Your bag is set up on one of the back tables. You open it and pull out your signature mask and put it on.
It was what made Lady Phantom so intriguing and why there weren’t too many photos. You stood at the edge watching as the birthday boy came onto the stage, mic in hand.
“Thank you all for coming tonight, I hope you’re having an amazing time!” He shouted into the mic, getting screams of approval in return.
“Well, the fun isn’t over yet. Tonight, I’ve got a special guest to come play. MAKE SOME NOISE FOR LADY PHANTOM!”
The crowd erupted in excited cheers as you came out onto the stage. The crowd is chanting your name, and you grab the mic.
“Let’s get this fucking party started! This set is dedicated to a friend I just recently met.” You look over to Wanda who has her jaw dropped as she looks at your in disbelief. You send a wink over to her and start playing.
Once the initial shock passed, Wanda just shook her head and laughed, dancing to your set. You couldn’t keep your eyes off of her as she danced to your music and it was like Wanda knew that.
She swayed back and forth, grabbing the end strands of her hair as she bit her lip smiling at you. Your pupils dilated, drinking her in, and you had to tear your eyes way to concentrate on your set.
You played the rest of your set, eyeing Wanda occasionally, smiling when she seemed in her own world, dancing on her own to your music.
She looked hypnotic, and you couldn’t wait until she was yours.
⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⋆⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶
You and Wanda decided to call it a night after you finished your set.
You told the trust fund kid that in addition to being paid, you needed a secluded room to crash the night. The last thing you wanted was to be around passed out strangers. So, the kid gave you the corner room with a king-sized bed and balcony.
You were glad you got this room with Wanda tagging along. She was a little tipsy, but danced most off it off, and was now just tired. The balcony had a low sofa with pillows and blankets that you were both sitting on, chatting quietly.
“I can’t believe you didn’t tell me you’re Lady Phantom! I must have seemed so silly when we were on the way here.” Wanda nearly whined, pushing your shoulder.
You laughed, leaning back against the sofa. “You can’t just name drop yourself, that’s weird. I was super flattered, don’t worry.”
She’s about to say something else, but your phone starts buzzing out of control from texts.
You pretty much ignore it, knowing it’s your ex-girlfriend and Wanda just stares with you. When the phone starts ringing, she raises her eyebrow at you. “So are you going to get that? Seems important.”
She asks as your phone repeatedly goes off. You can see from your peripheral vision that you’ve missed 4 calls now.
You shake your head, “Nope. There will be many regrets if I pick that up.”
Wanda’s brows furrowed together as she picks up your phone as it continues to vibrate. Then more texts start to come in. “Who is it?”
“Oh, wow,” Wanda comments, realizing it’s your ex-girlfriend and you chuckle awkwardly.
“Yeah...I broke up with her about three weeks ago. She pretty much does this every day.” You say, offhandedly. You can’t blame your ex, though. You had pursued her for months, showering her with gifts and your attention. You took her to party events and let her meet some of your acquaintances in your business.
You made her feel special.
Then as quick as you did, you started to distance yourself a little. Gave lingering looks at other girls when she was looking at you. You didn’t stop other people from flirting with you.
And when you thought she had enough, you went back to making her feel like she was the center of your universe.
And when she started to constantly ask where you were and who you were with, becoming insecure. And when she started to beg you, you were disappointed.
You realized she wasn’t any different.
So you ended it.
“Wow, bad break up?” Wanda asked, almost surprised your phone was still ringing in her hand.
“I guess so,” you shrug. “It just wasn’t working out. Sometimes, people just aren’t what you think or hope they are.”
Wanda watched as you leaned your head against your fist tilted to the side.
“Doesn’t this get overwhelming to have her call you and message you this many times every day?” She asks, and you shrug. It didn’t bother you that much. There was some satisfaction to see what she had become because of you, and you knew it would eventually stop.
“Not much I can do,” you tell Wanda. “If I pick up, there will be screaming or sobbing, and I’m not good at either.”
Wanda gives you a mischievous grin, and you look at her curiously.
“Do you want me to make it stop?”
You eye her, almost suspiciously but she only grins wider.
“Alright, if you can.” You challenge her. You’ve had David in the past pick up your calls from exes to tell them to stop calling, but it hadn’t worked. David ended up getting an earful himself or had to spend hours on the line with basically a stranger to comfort them and stop their crying.
A glint flickered across Wanda’s eyes, and she picked up the call on put it on speakerphone. You watched in curiosity and fascination with what she did.
Her breath hitched, a barely audible gasp. She moaned lightly, and the sound made you tighten your fist slightly.
“Mmm, h-hello?” Wanda answered, breathless, and stuttered a little.
The line was silent for a moment.
“Um...who is this?” You could hear your ex-girlfriend ask confusedly. Your ex then said she was looking for you.
Wanda grinned at you for a second before going back to the call.
“She’s...oh...she’s kind of busy right now.” Wanda moaned a little more loudly this time, and you felt your gut clench, your body.
“Busy doing what?” Your ex demanded. Wanda wickedly smirked as if she was just waiting for that line.
“Busy doing me. Don’t call again.” Wanda taunted, her accent just doing wonders to your libido. She hung up, cackling and you couldn’t help but laugh along. You shook your head, grinning the entire time widely as she gave your phone back.
“You are a wicked, wicked lady,” you tell her and she sticks her tongue out at you as she scooted closer to you.
“Well, she’ll unlikely call you back after that,” Wanda pointed out, giving you a smile that said, ‘you’re welcome’.
You just continue to grin at her and compliment her, “it was an Oscar-worthy performance.”
Wanda actually seemed surprised that you said that, a light blush dusting her cheeks.
“Really?” She asks, in almost a demure way you weren’t used to. You turn your head to her, giving her a soft smile.
“Yeah, why do you seem so surprised? You’re pretty amazing. You’ve built your brand online, you did a photoshoot for Biologique Recherche today. Lady Phantom says that’s pretty cool.”
Wanda stares at you, her smile widening as she leaned back into the sofa, grabbing a pillow.
“Can I tell you something?” She asks, looking up at the stars. “I mean, you can’t say anything yet, I haven’t even told Vision,” Wanda says, a little seriously.
Your eyebrow raises, curiosity piping if she hadn’t even told her fiancé.
“Well, considering you’re keeping Lady Phantom on the low, I suppose I could do the same,” your tone was a little teasing. She’s about to hit you with her pillow, but you block it.
“Well...I want to expand a little more. I don’t want to be just a blogger and social influencer. I...want to become an actress.” She says, looking wistful.
You take in what she said, turning your body to face her as you sit cross-legged.
“Okay, well, do it. I’ll be sure to buy at least 10 tickets at the opening of your first movie.” You say finally. She looks at you incredulously.
“What? I mean, you think I could do it?” She asks. You’re wholeheartedly confused to why she’s even asking.
“Of course! If you just had an Oscar-worthy performance. I imagine you’ll need a storage room for all the awards you’ll win for real movies and TV shows.” You grin at her, and she just smiles at you in a way you haven’t seen before, and you realize you’re uncovering other sides of her. She thanks you sincerely, putting her pillow in your lap and leaned down to put her head on top, facing the outside.
“So,” you softly said, resisting the urge to run your fingers lightly through her hair. “Why haven’t you told Vision?”
Wanda shrugged lightly. “I don’t know. Ever since I started to take off on Instagram and YouTube, he’s just been a little weird about everything. Don’t get me wrong, I think he has an amazing talent.”
You’re a little depressed when you heard her say that, just because she likes Lady Phantom too, and you refused to be in the same talent category with Vision.
“But he just...I don’t know, thinks that whatever he’s doing now is enough.”
“And you don’t?” You asked softly.
Wanda just shrugs again. “I suppose I am more unsure of what it is that Vision truly wants.”
You let the conversation die, not wanting to probe deeper into what Wanda feels about Vision, mostly because you don’t want to push too far. Patience is key.
You start to hum Riptide by Vance Joy, and Wanda hums.
“That’s my absolute favorite song,” she tells you. You stop humming to look down to see Wanda’s eyes closed and she was drifting to sleep. You wrinkle your nose, looking over to the bed and sigh. There was no way you were going to be able to move her over there with her lying on you like this. Instead, you lean over her, trying to reach the blanket, just barely grasping it. You drape it over her body and sigh softly to not wake her.
You leaned your temple against your resting fist against the sofa as you looked down at Wanda who slept peacefully.
You kept reminding yourself that patience was key. It takes time to form genuine connections, to make someone feel special. It would be your actions that would make Wanda come to you.
You thought about Vision briefly, tapping the sofa with your other hand.
You replayed the conversion of Wanda telling you about how she hasn’t told him about wanting to be an actress.
It was evident that Vision was insecure about Wanda’s success and fame.
Perhaps getting him out of the picture would be easier than you thought.

When Wanda woke up that morning, she found you sitting at the table on the other side of the balcony, coffee in hand, and on your laptop.
“Ugh,” she groaned, wincing at her hangover. You turned your head over at the sound and smiled sympathetically at the girl. You got up and walked over with some Advil and coffee you had gotten her.
“Here, I got your coffee order. I have breakfast for you too.” You give her the pills, and she hums appreciatively when the coffee hits her tongue.
“What’s for breakfast?” She mumbles, sitting up all the way, running her fingers through her hair.
“I got you a cream cheese, avocado, and egg bagel.” You help her up to the table, and she sits down with a huff. Once she takes a bite off food, she groans in satisfaction.
“I love you,” she says, and you’re sure she’s just saying that but you smile nonetheless.
“I think you mean you love the bagel. I’m going to give you a minute with it and pack up. We’re hitting the road soon, so do what you need to do before we go.”
The ride home went without a hitch. Once the Advil kicks in and the food settles, she’s more sociable and asks you more about your work. She asks what upcoming gigs you have. You tell her the small gigs you have set up but hold out on Wasteland. You’re in the middle of getting Artiste tickets for her and a couple extra in case she wants to bring anyone else.
When you drop her off, you see another car parked in her driveway.
“Oh, Vision is finally home,” Wanda comments. You don’t say anything.
“Did you want to come in?” Wanda asks you as she turns to you. You shake your head.
“Maybe next time, I’ve got some things I have to do.”
Wanda nods but purses her lips. Her eyes then widen.
“Oh! I just about forgot. Are you busy this weekend? You should come to my friend’s party. She just got a new job, so one of my other friends is hosting a party of her.”
“You sure?” You ask since it seems like it’s going to be an intimate gathering for a celebration. Wanda waves her hand to say it’s not a big deal.
“Yeah totally, I texted them already how we met and how you saved my butt. They want to meet you.”
You nod your head and smile.
“Alright,” you tell her with a smile. “Text me the address and time.”
Wanda nods and gets out of the car.
“I’ll text you later. Let’s lunch again this week.”
You nod again. The door opens, and you see a man with blonde hair walk out, curiously looking at you. You eye him, turning back to Wanda, winking before driving off.

i unfortunately (due to, am broke) am going to be in the market for some new powders in a few months! powders are cool because i use them up--amazing, the panners were right. so here is a post on my powder usage. (for newer followers interested in makeup talk: i do not wear foundation but i do conceal pretty much every time i go out, i have only mild dark circles with significant variation on account of i sleep only sometimes, and okay-to-normal dry skin that is finicky and about which i am reasonably self conscious. i’m a dry in a dry land.)
i cannot say i have ever purchased a setting or finishing powder in my life, and it has only been a year or a year and a half since i have been using either regularly. powders made their way into my daily life because youtube rotted my brain about how much i have to do to my skin, but it’s interesting because my increase in powder use coincided with a sea change on youtube (at least among the marginally-hip youthful medium hurus, who i follow a lot of), a move against powders in favor of dewier low-coverage looks that wear away naturally. i have not found that powder usage impedes these qualities in my own makeup use, and while i respect the techniques of these hurus (and implement many of them) i characterize this as one of many subtly homophobic beautube backlashes going on right now. i do not necessarily find that powder intensifies the condition or appearance of dryness, and i do not experience cakiness. i am, like everyone under the influence of the huru brain worm, at least a moderate user of oil or glycerin based “setting” sprays. i like the versatility of powdering, and i find powder particularly useful for keeping my watery eyeballs from ruining my whole face. i do not do anything difficult or strenuous ever, but i do expect the upper half of my face to hold its makeup for the duration of whatever it is that i wear it for, and i always find that my makeup looks okay (slightly smudged and faded but acceptable) at ten or twelve hours. this is one benefit of not wearing foundation.
here is an overview of the powders i have had and what i’m looking for:
tarte’s “smooth operator” amazonian clay pressed setting powder. i have had this for years. is it a mini, or just small? where did it come from? i think free with something, years ago. can i tell you what kind of good skin privilege i had? when i got this--YEARS ago, five years ago??--i wasn’t precisely sure what to do with a “setting powder.” i was very makeup literate about everything except for doing things to your skin, because i never did anything to my skin, either because it was perfect or our culture was less hellish (a little of both). it is just lucky that i ended up purchasing the concealer that is supposed to go with this item that i had acquired for free. they work beautifully together and used wisely i never experience anything like creasing, cakiness, migration, transfer of eye makeup including mascara. not ever, nothing like this. this concerns me, i am worried that i have gone and gotten myself reliant on an expensive powder. and it turns out that high end powders are expensive! (the concealer, which i cannot imagine using up in two years, is $26 and i got it during the sale, the powder, which i would imagine would last me the same amount of time, is $35). as a non-foundation wearer with skincare literacy (no offense rich girls who buy vitamin c), i am not accustomed to spending that kind of money on a “practical” item, only fun color cosmetics, or perfume, either of which would last me typically my entire life. lipsticks, blushes, highlighters, maybe a palette, etc. i would be tempted to buy this powder again, however the drive to educate myself on the world of powder is telling me not to! so i will not.
a loose silica hd powder from modelco or city colour or jcat or something, i am not going upstairs to check. i am not going to use this item up anytime soon, but i do like having it on hand. it came in a subscription service back when i did those. i do not believe that just a silica hd powder is the kind of product you need to invest a lot of money in, flashback or no. i am not precise enough in application to use this powder on my undereyes--i tend to sweep it into my eye wrinkles and then i get eye crease flashback in mood or retail lighting (the only kind of atmospheres i am ever in). i am unsure whether i would have this issue (being unable to get away with imprecise dusting) with other loose powders for the undereye, and i’m curious to confront this problem! i can lightly pat and then lazily dust around my eyes with a pressed powder because it is not as airborne. but is this lightness a problem with all loose powders, or just the cloudy silica ones? unsure. i’m overall not worried about facial flashback if i were to set my cheeks or something with this, because my skin is already quite literally flashback colored, so who cares. but there is nothing elegant about this kind of product and i do not need it.
this pressed color correcting powder palette from elf. wow i have had a journey with this item, which i have had for years! i got this because lucas s*******ed it for me one year. he would always choose the weirdest things! he is still like that. i had no idea what to do with this--and i still wonder about such a product. for a long time i believed pretty strongly that your color correcting product should be your cream base product, combined with a translucent or skin toned powder. but the yellow and green in here have been very useful to me, once i figured out what to do with them, so i was wrong. the yellow is an adequate undereye powder when my purple is more pronounced and i’m using a less-yellow or low-coverage undereye concealer, such as today! i really am a believer in the low-coverage but quite-yellow undereye for me (color correction instead of coverage), but with this powder it is easy to go overboard and become noticeably yellow, so i have to use restraint. i would be interested in trying a pale yellow pressed powder from the drugstore to replace this one--i will not buy this product because i have never used the blue or the pink. (when yellow and green are used up, i will probably mix them together and try them as a spot setting powder, given that my natural tone is “pink and blue” anyway.) i think i will probably buy something like this essence banana powder--people say they love essence powders. it may be a little warmer than what i’d prefer but for the price it would be worth it. there is also a banana powder backlash on the wind that i disagree with! overall a color correcting backlash that i find misguided and racially concerning! anyway, it’s the green in this elf product that i have loved. i heavily conceal my jawline with concealers that fix + powders, to cover redness that is just the color that i am there, and to lock it in place because i touch my face a lot. i like this area kinda blanked out to heighten the impact of blush. i do a similar thing to my upper lip area when it is all inflamed, as it has been. a pale green powder is very good for this and i would like to buy another one--cheap is fine because i do not need any kind of elegance here, as long as it is pale. this looks just perfect and if it is that price in store i will pick it up soon. i also like to use green-leaning pale concealers for this purpose, but that is another topic for another time!
the bare minerals mineral veil, i think it was. i had a couple of minis of this that had been my mother’s, and i finally used them all up, as finishing powders. this was just okay, but i am VERY into finishing powder techniques for my personal face, somewhat like this. i am very interested in using a probably-too-illuminating powder all over my entire face. perhaps even to set my undereyes, like jaclyn hill does with lancome absolue peche. people still call her insane for doing it but i think she is brave and can i tell you how badly i want that powder?? badly. the unfortunate thing is: what i need is a luxury--like, not even high end, luxury--finishing powder; and loose powders get used up so quickly... like, i cannot even allow myself to try the hourglass loose setting powders because i know i will love them and they will own me for life. but when you look at it like that, maybe i should finally get my dumb ass the ambient lighting powders? i would absolutely set my undereyes with them like a fucking despot vampire king. it would really work for me. so yes i definitely need to get my hands on absolue peche and figure out which ambient lighting powder i’d need :[.
okay! so what’s the deal about loose vs pressed powders? like i said, a lot of the hurus are going powderless now just as i’m getting serious about subtle powdering, but even other huru/muas i usually take advice from are swearing by loose powders when i’m into pressed powder! what’s the truth? what is good? powder me

The East to Western Movement
Growing up in a Filipino household, I never truly noticed the amount of Eastern Asian culture I was surrounded by. I was so used to watching anime before and after school or eating Asian foods my grandma cooked or bought from the supermarket down the road. It was not truly impactful until I was exposed to social media for the first time when I was 13. The impact of social media on the spread of international media is immaculate, as I watched throughout the years this spread of Eastern Asia taking over my news feed on Facebook and Twitter, to the point where it has almost become a social niche. Ranging from media to electronics to becoming so widespread that the Asian culture has become a fetish and aesthetic.
Above image
The United States have always had an upperhand in media market, but in the last couple of decades, Asia has been trying to overcome and even challenge the west. Asia has one-seventh of the world’s population, yet they control two-thirds of the world’s total information control [here]. For example, a large breakthrough for Asian media is the growth of Japanese animations for the last couple of decades, specifically since 2013, where contracts from surrounding countries, including the United States, to own the rights to stream anime in their country has grown a tremendous 172% [here]. This is due to the influence of social media. Constantly, videos and pictures are shared, reviews bring certain shows to the top of the list, and friends bond and recommend shows to each other. It is a constant flow of exposure, which what has made mainstream animes, such as Naruto, Attack on Titan, and Dragon Ball, so popular to the point where anime conventions have become an event where thousands of people all over the country attend. San Diego had about 130,000 in attendance in 2017, with an economic impact of 140 million USD [here]. Of course not only Japanese Anime is the only thing given credit, as other popular U.S. shows and comics are included, it plays very big part. Just a couple weeks ago, I went to a local convention called Saboten where I watched several people dress up as their favorite character, including my best friend, and even spent more than I want to say on merchandise and posters (as you can see, my wall is growing in size).

This popularity in anime has led to mascots and video games that have taken over the gaming industry. Pokemon has always been popular since the release of the game, making Pikachu an iconic mascot that even non-fans can recognize. This and Super Mario led to Nintendo’s worldwide popularity. Nintendo’s global net sales are an astonishing 9.95 billion USD and 75 billion USD in the global video game market, the U.S. being the largest share of Nintendo’s revenue (https://www.statista.com/topics/2284/nintendo/). Nintendo games have become a fan favorite, Pokemon and Legend of Zelda being big parts of childhoods. I have not met a single person, online and off, that don’t know or did not enjoy these games. There is also the influence of video games and anime on art, specifically fanart as seen on prints sold at conventions. Even my own art is heavily influenced by these, as I enjoy drawing my favorite characters from my favorite shows and games. This, in turn, causing my art to reach 300-400 notes on fanart on tumblr. This would not have been possible without the help of countries being connected through media and the internet in general, and that has only grown as technology has evolved altogether. A message and a post can spread within a matter of seconds all over the world. Without this, we’d be missing a part of our childhood.

This can also be said about Asian film and media. Although not as popular as their anime counterparts, dramas and movies have been moving up, perhaps due to their storytelling that almost emulate those cheesy romance scenes you see in anime, or their stunning videography that make them so appealing. This can be seen specifically in the Korean industry, as movies like Train to Busan, A Love So Beautiful, and Descendants of the Sun, which are seen to be trending on Netflix. Usually, Asian dramas are typically shorter in length, so a lot of viewers tend to go towards them. This can also be seen in the popularity in some animes, which are shorter and usually have a interesting and flowing story line. The U.S. has also been introducing Asian actors and all Asian cast films into Hollywood, something rarely if ever seen before. Movies like Crazy Rich Asian ended up having a box office success of 76 million USD, and To All the Boys I’ve Loved before with an Asian female lead soared in popularity, but this wouldn’t have happened if not for the social media spread of Eastern Asian T.V. into Western media. Asians have always been cast as the nerdy side character or a comedic relief in sitcoms, yet in these films we see them portrayed as something more than that, someone human and not a martial artist specialist. This is important for young Asians in the West that don’t get very much representation in western media, making them feel left out, unattractive, and confused. Fortunately, this Eastern takeover has made Asians out to be more than a fetish dream, something we will get to more about later.
The U.S. has been seen making remakes of shows and movies like The Good Doctor (same title) and Boys Over Flowers (Between Boys and Friends), and upcoming is a remake of a popular Korean variety show, King of Masked Singer. Variety shows are popular for their ability to bring on famous pop singers and actors to learn more about them and make them seem like real people, rather than the pedestal they are put on here in the U.S.. King of Masked Singer is particularly popular for taking Idols and other popular T.V. persons to show their voice and talent, rather than their looks. This is important because of perfection that is portrayed in media, such as in music videos and T.V. shows. They are to be pure and without fault, making the idol status something to be sought after by not only young adults in eastern countries, but also now in the west as the spread of J-Pop and K-Pop has grown tremendously.
Above Image
K-Pop boy band BTS (as show above) and girl group BlackPink has hit the Billboard top 100, with BTS currently at 81 with their new hit “IDOL” ft. Nicki Minaj [here] and BlackPink formerly at 55 with their single “Ddu-Ddu Du” [here]. Though, many idol groups aren’t far behind this peak, like TWICE and EXO and many more climbing their way up with millions of views on Youtube. This increase is most likely due to that challenge of western standards, with many songs emulating pop genres and simplistic beats and twisting it into something catchy, almost hypnotic. You’ll hear many songs incorporate several genres into one, such as pop, rap, and even rock. Along with this is how flawless an idol looks in their videos, their skin seemingly free of all blemishes and fashion that isn’t something ridiculously over the top or painfully simple, but fashionable and wearable. It’s as if these idols are perfect, which is desirable for many young people. Who doesn’t want to seem perfect?
This ideal in looks has turned Asians from being seen as ugly and undesirable, to gorgeous, cute, and natural. This, in turn, going again that human standard I was talking about before. Soon, people began to ask how they keep their skin like their favorite idols, what makeup they use, and how their hair is cut. Unfortunately, the pedestal the west puts their stars on are nowhere near the God-level the east puts their idols on currently, no matter how many variety shows they are on. This human-like quality is being drowned out by this impossible standard of beauty and personality set by none other than eastern media themselves. Eastern Asian beauty products have had a huge impact on how the west does their skincare. Even large sellers, such as Sephora and Ulta, have a section on their website dedicated to Korean skincare. Even I have put Korean and Japanese beauty products into my daily routine, in order to achieve that perfect skin they have (as seen below) and I have to admit, they are working so far, but it really strikes home as I am writing this that perfection is really what we are looking for in today’s society and it’s very difficult to escape.
Above Image is Mine
This has also hurt the idea that fetishization of Asian culture has also gotten worse, much worse. For years, Asians have been seen as the perfect little wives, shy and obedient. Older white men in the west have turned to dating sites and other sites to look for a Asian wife to marry, but just Asian. As you can see in this short trailer for the film “Seeking Asian Female” by Debbie Lum, the “market” for Asian women is large and has been ongoing for years upon years, especially when the internet really took off. “Asian” has become a tag on pornography sites (along with other races as well, but it is dehumanizing to depict a race as a fetish itself). The perfection of women and men in Asian media has grown this over the past decade, as men and women alike have only wanted to date an eastern Asian man or woman because they “look the best”. Users on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram exposed to Asian media are known for using Asian people to fit their “aesthetic”, or even going as far as wishing and lying about being Asian has become the norm. The Asian culture has been boiled down to nothing more than simply… an aesthetic and a fetish. “When you generalize a specific race or group of people, you deny each and every one of them their individuality and their right to be who they are.” (http://beyondhallyu.com/k-pop/i-love-korean-boys-the-problem-of-fetishization/).
Yet, the east to west movement has opened up this opportunity to change this, as can be seen in western media movies like To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and Crazy Rich Asians. The people in this film are not perfect, far from it. They are shown as humans unlike the crazy high standards held in Eastern media itself. This would not have been done without the spread of eastern media to the west. Especially in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, there is no emphasis on the lead’s race, she is simply a normal girl in high school falling in love.
While this widespread media exchange has had it’s ups and downs on society as a whole, I think we are getting to a place where acceptance is the goal. Social media is a place of opinions and has the potential of creating an entire social movement overnight. The East to Western movement has been on the move for decades, but it is coming to fruition now and creating a change in how the West perceives the East.

FAS3002- Lifestyle
As we are coming towards the end of this course, this being the third project launch, I am determined to keep my standard of work high aswell as being open to new skills. I believe this course isn't independent this time around enabling me to share ideas with other students. The aim of this course is to create a brand based of trend research and present this brand to the class. It is important when creating this that we convey how the shifts in the world currently has impacted the fashion industry. This will be very interesting to cover given the global pause on normality. I think I would love to include something like this in the work I produce within this module.
Before starting the week again, we were set with an activity to complete prior to the module launch. We have been asked to research two or three brands which we find inspirational and to analyse the brand and its intentions with a customer. It took me some time to find brands that not only interested me but also reached a different target audience so I could differentiate the brands. I decided to look at the brands The Ordinary, Tesla and Etsy as these all have different messages and identities to the shopping world. Below I have discussed the different answers which we were asked on Moodle.
1. The Ordinary Skincare
quote: “Everyone ages, everyone gets their fine lines and wrinkles, and at the end of it all, we own it! We want you to own your skin and feel confident no matter what stage in life you're in. You're never too young or too old to be bold.”
What is the Brand’s Identity? -Their main focus is to deliver the best products for a persons skin. They don't spend too much money on their aesthetics and product designs as their honesty and integrity is was draws a customer in. they cut straight to the point with their products explaining what ingredients are in the bottle and why they are beneficial. I like this brand as they don't add any fragrances or other sort of junk which you could find in other products, as a customer myself they are perceived as genuine towards looking after their audiences skin. Below is a description of their narrative which I found off their website.
“The brand was created to celebrate integrity in its most humble and true form. Its offering is pioneering, not in the familiar technologies it uses, but in its honesty and integrity. The Ordinary is born to disallow commodity to be disguised as ingenuity. The Ordinary is "Clinical formulations with integrity"”.
Product - The ordinary sell a range of different skincare products and makeup such as cleansers, direct acid serums, hair care products, oils and sun care. This brand interests me as their intentions are so pure which I wish could occur with every brand. The general pricing of these products differ from £3- £30 maximum. this widens their target audience as this is quite affordable for skincare. I discovered this brand when a skin care influencer called SkincarebyHyram on YouTube rated these products and recommended some of their products. There wasn't any ad agreements which happens often with influencers, but these intentions were pure which caused a lot of these products being difficult to by as they were so popular. The iconic items would be the Niacinamide and Zinc serum and the AHA blood face mask. These products received many good reviews and I think represents this business.
Price - As their items are cheaper than the standard range of skincare which could be £30+, I was doubtful with were they sit in the market. However coming across multiple articles explaining the most popular brands, The Ordinary was always in the top 5 answers. As every other brand they have competitors which are specific to their business. As this brand is organic, it reduces the amount of other brands they have to compete with. Their competitors are brands such as Revolution skincare and The Inkey list which advertise their products in the same way as this brand.
Place - This brand sells in a range of different places. They have their own website which you can buy online but they also have a small amount of stores across the country. Majority of their products are placed in department stores which is where I found the brand. This is probably the most common place for their products to receive sales.
Promotion - As discussed earlier, they don't advertise their products as much as other brand would. Keeping things as minimal as possible with the standard white and black designs so customers can gain knowledge of the products rather than liking the smell or colour of the product. I think they are very smart with this as most brands have developed a new way of promoting their products with bright colours and other forms of marketing which could interest a customer however The ordinary strips back all of these techniques and uses its products ingredients and intentions as a way of promotion. Below is an example of their honesty which I believe is a good way of promoting their brand.
“The Ordinary, are free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, animal oils, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury, oxybenzone. If you have questions about any ingredient that we use, please reach out to us and our lab will provide a response. DECIEM does not test on animals and does not pay others to do so. For this reason, none of our brands are sold in mainland China since such sales require animal testing for registration purposes.”
Customer - I think that their target market is widely diverse due to the range of different products. Each customer has a clear intention when buying these products whether that's heathier hair or to healthier skin. I have noticed a lot of young adults use this brand as they are good products to reduce certain skin conditions which are common for this age range such as acne. I would say their audience is mainly 16-30 year olds however it wouldn't surprise me if their audience was wider than this market.
2- House of Sunny
What is the Brand’s Identity? - House of Sunny is a fashion organization producing womenswear. Majority of their clothing range are bright colours I barely see many dark pieces making this aesthetic very uplifting and ideal for the summer. despite this they state that their pieces are “Designed for an easy everyday, each product is carefully crafted to become the perfect addition to elevate any wardrobe which can transition through the seasons.”
Product - Majority of their key stock is their patterned knitwear and dresses but they also sell tops and other womenswear. Their key pieces would most defiantly their patterned knits both being cardigans and jumpers, I gained a personal interest in these pieces as they require so much more attention than a standard block knit. Their iconic item would be the Hockney dress which was grew popular when worn by the supermodel Kendal Jenner.
Price - As their brand doesn't aim to be fast fashion and doesn't create a mass amount of products, their products are much more sustainable and are on the higher end of the market. I don't know if this price range is expensive or we have just been accustomed to unreasonable and cheaper products. I think these pieces value the price they set when I read their intentions on their website. Their knitwear range from £80+ and similar with other products. I haven't seen any of their stock go over £100 despite this. Majority of their pieces are set at the same price.
Place -When researching, I didn't realise they sold their products in online department stores like ASOS and Urban Outfitters. They don't have any physical stores and all of their brand is based online which is a much more achievable way or selling clothes due to the current up rise in online shopping.
Promotion - Like majority of their womenswear competitors, they use social media as a main contribution to reaching their customers. As this is online it is important they do this successfully to achieve a good amount of their target market. With the help of ambassadors, influencers tagging the brand when wearing the clothing and other marketing techniques, they reach new customers, like me, often. I also believe they pay for social media adds based on demographics and the activity of a persons social media data.
Customer - Being a womenswear shop I should assume their audience consist of women however with new society norms, I would say this brand can be unisex also. I also think the demographics might be of a younger audience being they are online. Also because they aren't a fast fashion company they aren't as well known as easier to find if someone was browsing on the web. I think a younger audience are more likely to come across this brand as they spend a longer amount of time shopping online than an elder may be. Despite this I think House of Sunny don't cancel out any specific characteristics or data of a customer making this brand diverse and suitable for anyone who likes their items. This approach to fashion and their overall message is what I find inspirational about this brand which is why I wanted to research about it.
3- Etsy
What is the Brand’s Identity? - Etsy is a online marketplace website and app focused on handmade or vintage items and craft pieces sold by small business. These items fall under a wide range of categories, including jewelry, bags, clothing, home décor and furniture, toys, art, as well as craft supplies. This is a great place for starting business to sell products which may not be as reached if it was elsewhere.
Product - As this is like an amazon, selling many brands, there isn't any key prices as it depends on the sellers price range. However based of what majority of my history of the site I would say the price range is reasonable being £10+ with the products I buy. This could be things like personalised gifts or handmade accessories. I would agree in saying a lot of the key items would consist of personalised items and illustration designs.
Price - As said before their price range is quite diverse, I would consider this as an advantage as they are able to attract a different class of people which more department brands might not be able to achieve. Despite this the website receives a certain percentage of the fee a business would make on their site as they are advertising it to an extent, which could cause a brand to increase their product prices so they can receive more profitable income. I would say their competitors would be Depop, Ebay and Amazon as they all allow the public to sell particular items for customers.
Place - This shop is completely online and is also accessible through the app for an audience who use the site much more frequently.
Promotion - Personally I don't think Etsy itself uses many promotional techniques as they aren't selling anything however they may have some marketing techniques which could reach a small business owner and interest them in wanted to sell their brand on the site. I think the relationship between Esty and their own customers being the business owners need to balance each other well to achieve successful promotional techniques. For example a business owner would promote their products well in which they say where to find their products, being Esty. this not only engages the customer too look at the brands products but they are now on the Etsy site so they are most likely to look at other items on the site aswell or even interested in selling their own range of stock aswell. I think this is smart way of advertising their brand and what makes Etsy so successful.
Customer - As their price range consists of both expensive and cheap items the brand reaches a wider audience. The businesses which use this website differentiate from one another creating a wider audience. for example one business may sell building tools and another may sell personalised jewelry which brings a range of different customers to the site. Overall I think this organisation is a very good space to enable businesses to grown their own platform and enable them to create their own brand aswell as profiting from their income from the purchase of their products.

Hi again!
As I promised you long, long time ago, I am going to share you my story: experiences I went through during my very first work in Jakarta couple months ago. I took notes last time --just so you know, I am no longer working there but I think it might still be worth telling. Whether later you’ll get inspired or fall asleep, here you go.
Pic source via Google
I had notes taken in August 2017..
My very first job after graduation
Here I am landed in one media agency in the capital city of Indonesia. In the world that I’m living in, I was not familiar with the existence of ‘media agency’. And now I am working as a media planner. It started last September in 2016 when I came to one of this job-opening event held in Kuala Lumpur. I entered the room with my head full of thoughts of which table and company should I first come to. So I decided and came to this table. I then handed my CV as the person in charge during that day started to conduct the short interview session. It went well, except that I didn’t know how to answer what that company was about back then. But days after that, I got a call and informed that I got accepted to do the three-months internship with this agency.
What an experience! I didn’t fear anything back then as soon as I introduced myself to everyone in the room. Everyone seemed pretty busy and still, I didn’t get any single clues of what might happen to me after that. Days passed by as I went through all the responsibilities and job desk, I realized I didn’t prepare myself enough to enter this job. I never actually majored in marketing or advertising, and it had been ages since I use Ms. Excel. I thought I will learn a lot about digital marketing but what I did back then was nothing more than technical works such as chopping the newspaper every morning (that was how one the colleagues kept teasing me about to describe the ads tracking activity). Another thing was to bring the wasted paper into the paper shredder machines or sometimes just typing out the notes that I wrote down during the meeting session with random vendors.
Aside from that, the job was pretty much related to media studies I learned at Universities. From all the confusion of those new things and deadline, works thrown with instruction but no guidance –I held myself back, inhaling, exhaling, and I came to the realization: Life before AND after University? They are two different things. I had no choice than to learn it by myself or ask people around whenever they’re not busy with work. Three months passed and slowly, it started to make sense to me, how the company evolves and how the work flows, and each of everyone’s responsibilities in the room. In my last day, I got this empty feeling of not learning much about digital marketing and advertising, but I must admit, it’s a new world to me and such a short of time to get to know it makes me feel like losing.
Living in Jakarta for the first time
As I was still craving for the experiences, I decided to move out from Kuala Lumpur and apply to the same company, with its branch located in Jakarta. The feelings were still going on and off inside me, my brain couldn’t function enough the day I went to the office and met everyone. At that moment when I shake hands with them, I wasn’t so sure if this is what I actually want to do forever. But I know that I really want to learn and this company gives what I expect it from the start: transfer of knowledge and connection. And it is something priceless and valuable. I mean, I could have just read all those books about advertising or any online references of media planning, but it never makes sense to me. I had to actually learn it by doing it.
In my case right this time, I am currently not only experiencing my very first workplace after graduation, but also am trying on living in the new environment. New city: Living in Jakarta alone for the first time. Aside from the traffic jam that keeps giving me headache day by day, adjusting myself to surroundings never felt this exciting. With the friendly people around –greet and guided me in between their little free time of the works, I could feel the warmth around this new family of mine. I feel grateful.
Working in beauty industry nowadays and #SocialMediaUse
I used to think makeup is just one thing for women that need to cover their flaws, nothing more beyond that. I used to think we shouldn’t be bothered to talk much about it since beauty comes from the inside, remember? I was like: I bet there will not be much of things to say about makeup other than the variety of its colors and its function to colored the lips and cover the pimples. The thing that I didn’t know back then is, the beauty industry covers a lot of different topics. During the meeting, we always came up with the whole plan of how we promote and create awareness of the product existence to the market in so many ways I could never think of. It never occurred to me at first on how women think red lipstick can brighten their day, until I got involved in the team to create the idea itself and come up with a plan and strategy on how to plant it in the audience mind, by utilizing the social media and the influencers.
The role of social media influencers are so much important for the industry, with their communication to their own audience is so impactful and beneficial. For some of them, especially the makeup artists and the beauticians, I think they have the potential to create their own economy in a world where improving your appearance never seems to hit a recession. Interesting, right? What comes to your mind when you watch those beauty gurus on You Tube? Was it simply just because they look pretty -it entertained you? That’s one enough reason where the makeup and beauty industry fill in that confusing gap and get something out of this phenomenon. Well, this is not breaking news, but I guess not many people out there are aware of this fact, especially when the outcome is: they eventually go to the department store and buy the product.
The beauty field is filled with many chances to meet and work with fascinating people. I can see that from the past month I experiencing working with client and all agencies, most of them that choose a career in beauty come from a creative and artistic background. Makeup, skincare, hair, nails, are all areas that promote the creative process, and sharing my ideas during the meeting with all of them, it really takes my creativity to a whole new level. Or at least I could say that, I get inspired –in so many ways.
I used to judge people that involves within the beauty industry and how insignificant are those things in life. When it actually takes such long time and big efforts to come up with one plan just to launch one single product. It takes more than one creative ways to use the social media as the platform to influence the target audience in the market. As it is bad enough to know that a lot of people nowadays spend most of their days going on Instagram and browsing random things on You Tube, it is a good opportunity for them to do business, even great to advertise themselves with the free platform provided online. This reminds me of the topic of final year project that I did last year, to get to know how young adult female perceive the content of those video blogs. Whether the industry wins the heart of the audience and succeed to make them buy the product, the very important fact is that how media platform becomes a powerful thing to influence and control the decision of the market. Powerful enough to create the perception and control the decision of the market. Again, this is not new information.
In the other words, I learnt social media at this company. I learnt digital marketing and how good I am with ppts + Ms Excel at this company. I learnt how to get work done at this company. And most importantly, I learnt how not to judge a book by its cover here.
So, should I start Vlogging?
After a long day at work I stayed up late into the night pondering the question ‘what would I like to do in life?’ The concept of Key Opinion Leader (KOLs), those who performed online and attracting lots of viewers has been around for a while. It brought my attention since long time ago by seeing those influencers that promoting the best beauty product to the audience. I embraced the idea immediately and since this plan has always been in my bucket list –to be someone that can inspire others, I decided that I want to be an influencer too. One of the near future resolutions this year is one to build my own channel on YouTube. I’ve always wanted to be on the camera and telling story to others, so that people in anywhere and anytime get informed and inspired by the stories that I tell. The other things I need to do before I die is to publish my own book, and to travel around the world and completing my mission to visit all continents.
And evidently, as Indonesian internet advertising market is showing the stronger growth from time to time, I think it is very smart for all of us to actually produce something instead of only consuming, by using the free online platforms to express yourself, creating awareness and positive impact on those potential audiences, and better –to make money out of it. Coz, why not?

A Top Influencer Manager Shares Her Beauty Secrets
Brunela (@BruCampi): a 27 year old Brazilian-Italian living in London, who is a Campaign Manager at Influencer. Yes that means rather wonderfully she does make a living watching a whole lot of Youtube videos and putting her thumbs to good use on Instagram. Much like her job, Brunela has a cool and slightly unusual approach to beauty products; including no less than three highlighters in one application and skipping facial cleanser in the A.M and a no mascara rule... "I am obsessed with all things fashion, makeup and skincare so writing a bit about my favourite beauty products and why I like them felt like the most fun thing ever, so do forgive me for writing more than my fair share of words.
Living in Brazil for the vast majority of my life - the part of the country where I grew up in (sea-facing southeast, and no, not Rio) has an average of 13 summer months a year - I exaggerate, but you get the idea and as such my skin was very oily. As such I spent my teenage years religiously washing my face in an attempt to make it a little drier. I mean, come on, a "glowy" complexion wouldn’t work all too well with my early 2000's heavy black eyeliner, now would it? Since moving to the UK, my skin has shifted completely from very oily to combination, and now it can be dry during the colder, winter months (my 15 year old self would be shocked). Such changes, combined with growing older and my maturing skin, have helped me to establish the skincare and makeup routine I have at the moment.
I don’t typically wash my face in the morning, so after my shower I just use my toner (it varies from La Roche Posay Effaclar Exfoliating Lotion, Pixi Glow Tonic or Acqua Alle Rose Roberts Classical Distilled Water - I love them all equally) and then I apply La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Gel Dry Touch Cream with SPF50 under Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre. I always use the sunscreen under my moisturiser because otherwise the clash of textures ruins my make-up.
I wear foundation everyday - MAC Face and Body Foundation; I like my skin to look like my skin but slightly better and this does exactly that, with a dewy finish that I love. I couple this with NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer (I've had mine for almost two years now and it is still going strong. Next I apply two creamy highlighters with my fingers: NARS Copacabana, quickly followed by MAC Cream Colour Base in Shell (Glossier Haloscope could never - sorry not sorry!).
I like to team MAC Bronzing Powder and NARS Dolce Vita as a blush - Dolce Vita is a few shades deeper than Orgasm and as such perfect for medium/olive skin tones, it just so happens it’s my favourite blush ever. I go strong on my cheeks because I rarely bother with eye make-up; often it is just a slick of Charlotte Tilbury eye pencil along the lash line. Right now I’m going through a mascara ban throughout the week, Jeanne Damas got me into the eyelash-curler only look and I’ve been loving it. If I am using mascara, I will always go for the Lancome Monsieur Big Waterproof Mascara - it is the only one that holds my lashes curled for the whole day. I finish my look with a little of NARS powder in Flash (I do not recommend, I am only using it as it was pricey and I want to use it up, rather than waste it) and the Becca Highlighter in Moonstone, which is dreamy. Yes, I will leave the house at 8.30AM with three different highlighters on my face and zero shame.
My night time skincare routine is one of my favourite bits of the day: I remove my makeup with a balm cleanser (often the Body Shop Chamomile one or equally coconut oil does the trick) then I use
Sensibio by Bioderma Mild Cleansing Foaming Gel (which is lovely and gentle), followed by my toner again. I rely on a few moisturisers, sometimes old school Nivea, y'know the one that comes in a tin? Or it may be Avene Hydrance Hydrating Cream teamed with a sheet mask - it really just depends on how I’m feeling. I like to with face massage every now and then but not with a Jade Roller, rather I just use my hands with some movements I’ve picked up from this video (it is in Portuguese but you can mute and still easily pick up a few steps).
I'm not overly fussy with my hair-care, it really is as simple as whatever Shampoo is available and then the Klorane Dry Shampoo for my fringe. My skin may not be oily anymore, but hair sure is. It goes without saying that I am not dermatologist nor a make-up artist goes, everything I know has come from trial and error and getting to know myself - which comes with age and experience. However if I can pass on one universal and easy tip, it would be to please wear SPF on your face - 50-something year old you will thank you!" - @BruCampi

So I’m gunna answer u like this so i can find this easier later :0
First some advice for looking for tutorials since I don’t watch many youtubers that do super basic tutorials.
- “lazy day” “fast” “five/ten/fifteen minute” “no makeup makeup” “everyday” “basic” tutorials and routines are good for watching people do simple stuff.
- “get ready with me/grwm” is a good way to watch someone doing a good portion of their makeup in real time and usually they tell fun stories while doing it.
- “brown girl/black girl friendly” routines and tutorials are a good way to get past all the white girls if you’re not white.
- try adding “affordable” and “drugstore” to any of these searches because beauty youtubers are notorious for using high end and even luxury stuff in their tutorials.
Youtubers that I really like watching for inspiration
- Drac Makens she’s very alternatively inclined
- Graveyard Vomit hes also very alternatively inclined
- Jackie Aina she’s very glam but she’s on of the bigger makeup channels and she has the money/pr influence to do a lot of review videos
- Madeyewlook and Madeyewlook Twice her main is mostly body painting and her second has some more basic how toos on it
- Meaghal and Natasha both of them are more focused on editorial looks but they both stick to basic foundation routines and they do shorter videos
- TotalMakeupJunkie101 she does A Lot of review videos and is more glam
- vintageortacky shes also pretty glam and i love her skincare videos (skincare is very important to a good base if you’re into foundation)
I’m going to go over some of my own advice too.
- Don’t rush yourself, try one type of new product at a time so you don’t end up getting overwhelmed.
- If you decide you don’t like wearing something that’s considered a part of a “basic” face don’t! If you come back to it later to try it out again you’ll hate it a lot less than if you just kept wearing it while hating it.
- Build up to what you want from your makeup at first, it’s a lot easier to build up makeup until you’re happy with it than to start all over again and feel frustrated with it.
- Sometimes you’ll find something uncomfortable to wear even if you enjoy the way it looks. I still find mascara and tight lining uncomfortable but I adore wearing it.
Hopefully this is helpful!

New makeup is constantly coming out and I’ve been seeing a steady stream of sneak peaks for products being released this spring and summer. While I talk about the things I want all the time, I thought it would be nice to share what I don’t think is worth it. I got this idea from Nicole Cutler’s Eyeing But Not Buying series on her Youtube channel. My favorite accounts to follow to get information on upcoming makeup releases is Trendmood1 and MakeupCrayz on Instagram.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Marc Jacobs O!Mega Coconut Bronzer / Marc Jacobs released this bronzer a couple years back in drool worthy packaging with a coconut scent. Now it’s back again and while I really want to go get it, I’m not letting myself. My face powder drawer where I keep my bronzers and blushes is way too full. This would be a beautiful gift for someone!
KKW x Mario Collection / While I picked up the palette from this collection (review coming asap!!), I skipped on the lip products. The packaging and colors were not appealing to me and looked a little more orange than I usually go for with my nude lipsticks. The gloss Super Nude was pretty, but I just don’t go through glosses quickly enough to justify getting another one. None of the reviews made me want to purchase them either.
Urban Decay All Nighter Powder / If this is limited edition I’ll be getting it. Otherwise, I need to get through a few more powders before getting this one. There are not a lot of powders that I know of that are designed to be long wearing. Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray is great so I have high hopes for this one!
Tatcha Silk Canvas Protective Primer / Everyone and their mom on Youtube has been using this primer nonstop. At first I was intrigued but after seeing a review of it from Musings of a Muse I decided it wasn’t worth the hype. Tatcha’s high prices turn me off and seem overpriced for what they are.
Sunday Riley The Influencer foundation / It’s always interesting to see what a brand will release when they are branching out from their main skincare line up to start doing makeup. This doesn’t have the best reviews so I’ll be skipping this one. I would love to try their skincare options though!
Sol De Janeiro Glow Oil / This glow oil was announced right around the same time that Fenty Body Lava was released. While they’re both beautiful products, I kind of can’t believe that body glitter is being produced and consumers are eating it up. While I love my skin to look like the bronze glowy hydrated sparkle that these give off, I’m sweaty and sticky enough in the summer without adding an extra layer of oil. Between the Fenty and SDJ offerings, I’d definitely go with SJD Copacabana for the beautiful Brazilian Bum Bum Cream scent.
Colourpop x Shayla / This collection and the promotional images for it look stunning. I love Shayla’s videos and her makeup style in just about all her looks. There are rich tones in the eyeshadow palette, bold golden bronze highlighters, three Lux Lipsticks, and a pretty gloss. My first thought when I say the palette was GIMME but I honestly don’t think I would reach for it that often. It looks like a great array of colors though and is definitely wearable. I love that the collection has options for deeper skin tones, especially the highlighters. C’mon Sis looks like a beautiful lipstick that I would totally pick up if I didn’t have a dupe. I haven’t tried out their Lux Lipstick formula and this collab makes me want to get around to it!
MAC / Everything from the Strobing collection looks stunning. Personally I can’t look past the idea of getting MAC Fix+ (or a more affordable option) and just dumping in some pigment like people have been doing for ages. If you’re into this product, check out the Sephora Collection Perfection Mist highlight as an alternative. One that I do have my eye on is the Iconic London Glow Prep Set Glow spray. It half way fulfills my need for a spray on bronzer… still upset about Sephora Collection discontinuing theirs. Mac also came out with a nice addition to their line up with the new shades of Strobe Cream. I’ve had a few samples of the strobe cream and love it as a glowy makeup base. If you have dry skin I think these are an awesome primer.
As far as the MAC x Patrick Starrr Collection, while the products are beautiful and I love the colors they chose, I haven’t been wearing many purple and magenta lipsticks for awhile now and am covered in the eyeshadow category for those with my Viseart Dark Mattes palette. I love Patrick though and I still kind of want to get his powder from his first launch with MAC one day.
Lastly I just wanted to say that I’m so happy they finally added Whisper of Gilt to the line permanently! It was getting so annoying having it flicker in rarely with limited edition collections.
That’s all I’ve really been eyeing as far as I can remember at the moment. I hope I didn’t come off too negative with some of these. They would be great buys for many people, but not for me. If you’ve tried any of these or are looking forward to them, I’d love to hear how they worked out for you. Thank you so much for reading.
-Kim

The BEST of THM 2017 + What’s Coming Up in 2018
It’s crazy to think that this is the last post of 2017! It’s been a wonderful year and a tumultuous year. It’s gone by at lightening speed and crawled by at times. It’s been deliciously sweet and scarily overwhelming. But all in all, it’s been another year for the record books!
In case you’re unfamiliar, each year I do a recap of the top posts of the year based on your favorites and my favorites. For past year’s posts check out: 2013 | 2014 | 2015 | 2016.
This year I decided to break it up into two posts: travel and everything else! My Best of THM Travel 2017 went up last week and today’s post is a recap of everything else + what’s coming up in 2018. If you’re also curious to see the behind-the-scenes of blogging as a business, check out my THM Business Recap as well.
I’m also sharing my Top Favorites of 2017 on my YouTube channel. Every month (with the exception of one!) I shared my favorite health, wellness and green beauty products so I decided to round-out the year with the best of the best. It was so fun putting this together!
youtube
,?center>More thoughts on everything below so let’s just jump into the post. Here is The Best of THM 2017!
YOUR FAVORITES
1. How To Make a London Fog – This was your favorite post of 2017! I love this recipe and it also reminds me of home even though I still don’t have confirmation if the London Fog is a Canadian thing?!
2. The Engagement – No surprises here…besides my own surprise! This was such a special moment for me and C and while we didn’t capture it while it was happening (I love that it’s special to just us!), I was thrilled we could share in the celebrations with you.
3. Easy Veggie Egg Bake -My go-to potluck dish! It’s literally the easiest thing to make and especially great for big holiday gatherings…Christmas breakfast anyone?!
4. The Best All-Natural Products for Acne-Prone Skin – Lots of green beauty and skincare talk went down this year! To all my falks struggling with acne, I feel ya! Plenty more skincare talk to come in 2018.
5. Vanilla Bean Chia Pudding – Simple recipes were the name of the game this year, and this easy vanilla bean chia pudding was no exception.
6. What I Wish You Knew About Sponsored Posts – Besides our engagement post, this was actually my favorite post of 2017! It certainly ruffled some feathers, but it also provided a level of transparency that is so needed in the blogging/influencer space.
7. 8 Healthier Store-Bought Snack Bars – I cheated on balls in 2017 and shared my favorite store-bought snack bars. Yo girl doesn’t always have the time or the desire to make everything from scratch so sometimes store-bought is best!
8. To The Woman Addicted to Working Out – In many ways, my history of overexercising and disordered eating feels like a thing of the past, but this year I explored what it actually means to be recovered and to thrive!

MY FAVORITES
1. The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies (gluten-free!) – When it comes to cookies, 2017 was a good year but I have to say that these cookies come out on top! I was afraid to post them because I worried about how you’d react to the butter and sugar and all that but man are they healthy for the soul!
2. Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Farro Salad – C said this is his favorite recipe of the year and I have to say that I totally agree! We’ve been eating this non-stop for the last few months and it’s been my go-to for all events and potlucks. It’s really a crowd pleaser.
3. Things I’m Afraid To Tell You -I was so scared to share this post with you because I felt so awful for keeping so many secrets from you. In the end, I’m glad how it all played out and am happy I took the time to sort out my feelings before sharing such big news with you. Thank you for being so supportive!
4. Our Engagement Photos and Wedding Planning Update – I’m still in awe at the amazing pictures Bettina was able to capture in our home and hood. I feel so lucky to have such a dear friend who is also an insanely talented photographer. C and I love you B!
5. What is an Emotional Support Animal? – I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expected the flack I got for this post and perhaps should have prepared myself more. In the end I think it ended up being a productive and helpful conversation and I was also blown away by how many of you reached out with support. Thank you!
6. Why I Won’t Be Losing Weight For My Wedding – while I’m not sharing much regarding our wedding, I did want to share this. I will not be losing weight for my wedding and I don’t believe you need to either.
7. How To Greenify Your Makeup Bag – More than anything else, I get SO many questions about green beauty and where to start. This post was written for anyone who is just getting started on their green beauty journey and I’m thrilled it’s been so helpful for many of you.
8. My San Francisco Apartment Tour – Only took me 9 months to share! Now that the apartment is done, I feel like I want to decorate it all over again, but for now we’re relishing in its completion and I was so happy to share it all with you.

COMING UP IN 2018
Whew! That’s a lot of posts and content. Clearly it’s been a great year! At the same time, I’m also very excited to kick off 2018 and start exploring some new topics and jumping deep into some old ones. In terms of posts, you can still expect a lot of healthy recipes, green beauty/skincare and self-reflection posts. A few other topics I want to explore more in-depth are: mental health, work-life balance and stress-management. These are all topics we’ll be chatting more about on the podcast as well.
For video, I’m hoping to do more “vlog-style”content as well as providing more recipe videos for you. I have so many delicious recipes that I’d love to create more videos for to make them easier to understand and follow. In addition, I want to do more DIYs to show you guys how to make more household and body care products. I feel like I’ve gotten a bit lazy this year and deviated toward store-bought brands instead of making my own. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE all the products I share, but I know they aren’t always accessible to everybody so I want to make sure there’s options for everyone at all levels of accessibility and price points.
Beyond that, I’ll be slowly down the global travel (besides one exciting trip in January!) and spending more time in San Francisco, exploring our home. I find myself craving more local adventures and challenges and I’m excited to see what comes my way.
Stay tuned for more events (don’t forget to join the events list!) both near and far and one VERY exciting event coming in the Spring. I cannot wait to share the details with you!
* * * * *
I’ll be taking a much needed vacation until the New Year. There won’t be any new posts, videos or podcasts until 2018 and while I know you guys certainly aren’t sitting around waiting for me, I just wanted to give you a heads up! I also hope that you can all find some time to take a break and enjoy time off with your loved ones. I know the holidays can be very busy and overwhelming at times so don’t forget to carve out a little R&R for yourself.
I’m so incredibly grateful to be able to call THM my job. It’s been an incredible 5 year adventure and I couldn’t ask for a better tribe to come along for the ride. I know I say this all the time, but I truly am so grateful for all of you. In many ways, THM feels like a collaborative process and I love that we can work together to make the world a healthier and happier place. So much love to you all and wishing you a very happy holidays! -Davida
What were your top favorites of THM this year? What do you hope to see more of in 2018? Podcasts, videos, posts??? LMK!
