So... I somehow endet up in the DC x DP fandom on Tumblr and I don't know how xD
I wasn't in neither fandom before this, it just happened and know I am obsessed.
I'm stumbling through the prompts and fanfictions without knowing half of the characters because I watched Danny Phantom ages ago and have just the bare minimum of knowledge of the DC universe.
But dang... I love it here non the less x3

Little Stan getting manipulated by Bill has excellent angst potential but consider.
Stanley just, keeps tricking Bill. Because Bill would definitely massively underestimate Stanley and how far he’ll go to protect Ford (like in the actual show). We also know Stanley has the street smarts between the twins and could absolutely tell Bill is full of it.
And because Bill would absolutely loose his mind if he kept getting foiled by a snot nosed eight year old that isn’t even supposed to be here
I like to think that he doesn’t even try that hard he just does not even care about bill
#I saw someone saying that ford calls bill this master manipulator that uses mind tricks to get his way#but ford is just socially inept and desperate for validation from his muse that he just#falls for it insanely easily#ford and fidds being all like “BEWARE BILL - HE’LL TRY TRICK YOU!! HE’S DANGEROUS!!”#and little Stan is confused like “you mean that guy who tried to convince me to sell you out for like knowledge or whatever?”#remember - Stan is literally the one who tells dipper how to defeat Bill in their first fight with him#he’s also the one to finally beat him at the end#and the only one NOT to make a deal with Bill#I reckon even as a kid he wouldn’t give his brother up for anything.#my art#ask#twins in time au#stan pines#stanley pines#bill cipher

getting older can be so amazing? you get more familiar with yourself. learn tips & tricks for troubleshooting your own brain. trial & error helps you build routines that minimize discomfort, maximize reward. your preferences/interests don't get set in stone, but you do find out which ones are going to stay with you in the long-term, and which ones are fun but transient joys to appreciate in the moment.
you learn that the world is so much more complex than you were taught, and that that's okay, and that there's an endless supply of things you can learn or watch or experience or think about if you want to. if you're lucky, you loosen up, stop putting so much pressure on yourself. if you're lucky, you learn to recognize that negative inner voice, and whack it with a baseball bat until it hushes up. if you're lucky, you learn to treat yourself gently, not because you are fragile but because you are worthy of gentleness. (i hope you are lucky.)
and some things will change. some things will get better. some things will get good. and maybe you start to recover from the dehumanizing stress of childhood/education. maybe you learn the power of your own autonomy. maybe you learn how to walk away from bad situations (which is a superpower even if you don't realize it yet). and you get to choose your own clothes. and your own food. and which relationships to pursue! and what you do with your free time. and with your life (but don't worry you get to choose that gradually). and that's crazy! and sometimes scary. and extraordinarily, indescribably precious.
#not a shitpost#and as long as you are alive there will be another good moment waiting for you in the future#the profound joy of your favorite foods#the incalculable luxury of waking up and lounging in bed and falling back asleep#a cold glass of water after a walk in the hot sun#petting an excited dog. a cat rubbing up against your ankle. the sight of a confused chicken#glorious these beads we string together to form our own existence#getting older means time is passing. and i hope you are passing that time in ways that make you happy#i hope you have so many moments of joy that they can be as easily counted as drops of water in the ocean

I think it’s so ironic that the Pony Express escapes a lot if not all blame in discussion. I can’t even say I am excused from it but it’s just how hard people circle back to the characters alone without considering the environment they were made to be in.
Why would they design a ship where only two of the rooms lock? Not the bathroom? Not the sleeping quarters? We assume that all the companies in the universe are this shallow and careless to their workers but we explicitly know the Pony Express in extra vile. They are fed processed slop pack they can’t even really cook and the ration of those pack is meager at best. They hired and made people with a plethora of conflicting demeanors and beliefs work together on a mission where cohesion is important if not an outright necessity and punish them for not being happy about it. There’s no social protocols, not chain of command other than Captain’s word/choice and the only way to enforce that is with a literal firearm. They don’t allow them to celebrate freely and even took away leisure activities that would make them less stir crazy. They are only allowed a few hours of sleep despite their being no other real responsibilities or work on the ship, no matter the position or its importance. With any crew, with any level of synergy, this was a powder keg waiting for a spark.
I’m not saying characters that made mistakes didn’t make huge ones, but I think part of the horror is that at least for some (this is targeting Jimathan) those mistakes are partly made by a force of the hand. There’s a running theme of lack of choice and being forced into something and the very nature of how The Pony Express expected them to function plays a big part.
#like even I forget that all actions taken in the game were people trying to remain in protocol outside of Jimmy#Anya couldn’t have jus stolen the scanner and got the gun cause she’s a sensible person and knows she’d be in legal trouble#or get everyone’s credits docked or just hoping that there’s some chain of command for this sort of thing#Daisuke only really acted in accordance to his direct superiors because he’s an intern he wouldn’t know the first thing about protocol or#what to do in any situation. like this is essentially implied to be his first real job#Curly may be the captain but he still has to follow rules and procedures and we see with the letter the Pony Express likely has very shady#and shitty ones. he gives the best not depressing or totalitarian options he can otherwise everything is just his word which aren’t even his#or like him just asserting his position with the gun which he wouldn’t do#Swansea follows the book begrudgingly because he’s trying to stay right and not fall back into who he once was#I feel like it’s not incorporated nearly enough that the environment they were dropped into heavily affected their actions#say there was a single person higher than Curly or a plan of action when a crew member is considered a danger to himself or others#I think it’s fascinating how people will stick to protocol and break when they get scared or to their limit#cause the game shows how normalcy deteriorates and I think discounting what the characters where put through by the company takes a way a#real and scary aspect of what happened to Anya because as a friend Curly didn’t do enough for her at all his comfort was there and he#appreciated but it was a distracted sort of care but as a Captain he didn’t protect her but he’s was a Captain of the Pony Express like what#if they told him to wait to? he still should’ve done something because Anya was actively suffering and Jimmy should’ve been reprimanded but#he’s a captain with orders like the Tulpar isn’t his ship in the same way like#god I wanna explain this in a way that makes sense but the Tulpar is like designed to breed animosity and work on the bare requirements one#needs to get things done that’s not how people work and if anyone deviates or interrupts that it literally has nothing to handle it#it becomes clear that if any social unrest happens why they just say fuck it and give the Captain the gun because if something happens the#blame can easily be placed on the person they put in charge despite what they put them#in charge of like this is just like work place harassment irl because often the perpetrators are not punished but the supervisors for not#stopping them with meetings or cuts or whatever but the environment the company fostered is rarely fixed or blamed#like why was this allowed to occur? and honestly that is because Jimmy did what he did#ask me about this if this is confusing cause I worded it crazy#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#the pony express

HELLO MIRACULOUS FANDOM
if u are part of the miraculous fandom PLS DO NOT SCROLL PAST THIS.
I'll try to keep this message short enough, but if you don't want to be really confused in season 6, READ THIS. (and yes there will be pictures)
Do you remember the episode Representation? Of course you do. It was probably one of the best episodes imo. We got some feligami, adrien fighting his father (only to end up in solitary confinement afterwards but forget that), and, of course, confirmation to a very popular fan theory.
HOWEVER. that fan theory is something I need to talk about.
Don't worry, yes, I still do believe that adrien, félix and kagami are all sentis, that is not what the purpose of this message is. Please keep reading.
do you remember him? yes. this is félix. impersonating his shitty father, colt. in this scene , 'colt' is using the peacock miraculous to create a son.
in this scene, the amok is very clearly going into the ring félix has on at all times.
But what, in the entire representation play, has not been shown once?
Émelie using the peacock. Émelie putting the amok into Adrien's rings. Émelie creating a son.
This play is Félix's story, not Adrien's.
Yes, adrien is a sentimonster, but that was never shown here once. Yes, there were peacock feathers in the background of Émelie being pregnant, and yes, Gabriel called Adrien a miracle.
But those were just hints for the audience.
In this scene, here is what 'Gabriel' was saying.
After much study, I have discovered a solution for you and your wife.
This is making it sound like he has just now discovered the peacock miraculous. We as the audience, of course, know that he's lying.
But who was this play meant for, other than us as the all-knowing viewers?
Marinette Dupain-Cheng. The only in-universe audience member. And let's not forget that this is her very first exposure to the Agreste and Graham de Vanily family history and the senti lore. She doesn't know what we do.
Marinette, upon hearing Gabriel's lie, had no reason to believe he or émelie used the peacock to create Adrien. Marinette, upon hearing Gabriel's lie, had no reason to believe that after Colt created félix, he stole back the peacock miraculous. Marinette, upon watching this play, had no reason to believe that Adrien is a sentimonster, or that the Graham de Vanily rings are significant in any way.
"But then why did she give them back to Adrien?" It's what would have made him happy. It's what Gabriel wanted. It's the last thing she could find in there that Gabriel owned. It's the last known piece of the Agreste family.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng has no reason to believe that Émelie used the peacock. In fact, Émelie only appears in this play four times, once as the curious princess, once living a bohemian life with the tailor, once being pregnant, and once giving birth.
And the Graham de Vanily rings? Only when her parents attached them to her necklace, and then as she was getting married! Marinette thinks those are just simple wedding bands, like her parents'!
And now, to recap, this is what everyone knows:
Us, the viewers:
Adrien, Félix, and Kagami are sentimonsters. Gabriel found the miraculous while in Tibet, along with the butterfly. Then, he gave it to Émelie, and she used it to create Adrien, putting the amok in the wedding bands. Afterwards, Gabriel gave the miraculous to Colt, who made Félix, as shown in the play. And, somehow, the peacock found its way over to Kagami's family (possibly her father?) who used it to create her, and put the amok in the ring she wears.
Marinette:
Félix is a sentimonster. Gabriel found the miraculous somewhere (probably Tibet, as that's where it was lost, possibly along with the butterfly). Then, he gave it to Colt in an act of sympathy (strange, those must have been nicer times), but of course not without making a trade. Afterwards, Colt used the peacock to create Félix, and then somehow Gabriel got it back and used it to become Shadowmoth.
Marinette doesn't know that Adrien is a sentimonster.
Reblog to spread the word.
#Okay in retrospect she COULD know that kagami is one#'a girl like him'#but she could also easily chalk it up to them both being socially awkward#Anyway! Please reblog this! I feel like everyones misinterpreting this play#and getting what WE know mixed up with whatever MARINETTE knows and was told#Not that im mad at you! ai coleman and transmasculinity: (don't) let rage consume you
now that i've reread dorohedoro, i can more clearly articulate my thoughts about ai as an allegory for transmasculinity (initially mentioned in the tags on this post).
i want to start off by saying this is not a post about looking for 'evidence' that ai is a trans man, nor is it a post focusing on what hayashida 'intended' to do with ai. while authorial intent is important, it is not the end-all be-all of literary analysis; allegories do not have to be intentional or 'perfect'. this post seeks to explain how reading ai as a trans man can enrich his character, regardless of intentionality or canonicity. with that out of the way, let's get started! (spoilers through the end of the manga under the cut.)
the thing that really solidified this reading for me was how ai talked about his life and why he wants to become a sorcerer. ai sees becoming a sorcerer as 'gaining power' or privilege, and he feels that the only way for him to do so is to change his physical body. he wants to become a sorcerer to become someone totally different, erasing his old identity; in his opinion, there is nothing for him in a life as a human, only a sorcerer's life is worth living.
ai's goal of 'becoming a sorcerer' is not just to change his body, it is to change his body and gain the abilities or 'privileges' that such a change entails - it is in part about external validation, especially from the sorcerers that oppress humans. this is a very straightforward way of depicting negative perceptions of transmasculine transition: the transmedicalist belief that medical transition is the only 'valid' way to be trans, the transphobic view that trans men are women 'gaming the system' to 'gain male privilege,' and the idea that 'erasing' one's past identity as a woman will award them male privilege unconditionally.
in reality, though, transition is powerful because it is an assertion of ownership of one's own body, and i think this dissonance is key. this is not something that ai recognizes as 'valid.' you could even say ai wants control over how he is perceived and he thinks becoming a sorcerer will give that to him.
so, ai compiles and develops the research for this surgery on his own, reflecting the ways trans people often have to advocate for themselves in medical contexts.
after kasukabe completes the surgery, ai survives! the recovery period is long and brutal, but ai seems to be completely fine. except . . . kasukabe later goes on to describe that ai was 'different' - he's presented as violent and unstable. this is reminiscent of how, especially after beginning medical transition, transmasculine people are often characterized as more dangerous, aggressive, or emotionless, even by the doctors that are supposed to care for them.
even after becoming a sorcerer, ai doesn't get the privilege he wanted. he's essentially clocked by other sorcerers, because he can't produce smoke, and then they kill him. he doesn't 'pass' as a sorcerer successfully.
in this reading, hole could be read as trans rage: at ostracization, at lack of acceptance, at the unjust hierarchies that plague society - especially capitalist society - at assigning value to and making assumptions about people based on aspects of their physical bodies that they have no control over and that are difficult to change. ai's body being puppeted by hole could represent both how masculinity is associated with violence, as well as the expectation that trans men need to be the 'protectors' of other queer people due to their supposed access to male privilege.
this is why caiman's acceptance of ai, aikawa, and kai is so important; it is an assertion of ownership over his body and identity, regardless of how others perceive him. he doesn't need to ignore or forget his fear and desperation or his rage. he was a scared kid, he was consumed with anger at the way the world treated him, and he can - and in fact he deserves to - live a happy life where he is loved and cared for.
caiman's eventual status as a sorcerer is conditionally granted to him by those who have that privilege, it comes at the cost of his 'true' face, and it will be lost. this mirrors how access to male privilege for trans people is also conditional, requires denying facets of one's identity, and is fragile - subject to being revoked at any time.
after defeating hole, caiman ends up right where ai started, but his circumstances are not identical. even if the physical location of hole is the same, it has changed. caiman kept his face, but now he knows who he is and that he doesn't need external validation of his worth and identity.
ai's story - caiman's story - is about coming of age in a society that systematically treats certain classes of people poorly and about struggling with and accepting one's identity. obviously these experiences are not exclusive to transgender people; however, the ways in which dorohedoro discusses and portrays the body and body modification in my opinion easily lends itself to trans readings, and i find this reading of ai's struggle to be particularly compelling.
#i know that second paragraph sounds extremely twitter-brained but ive seen some people get veryyyy aggressive when you just. point out that#sometimes characters have (sub)text that easily lends itself to a trans reading so i just wanted to state it upfront.#also ik there is some overlap w 'trans man' and 'transmasculine' but it's a venn diagram not a circle so i tried to be very precise#w the terms i was using but im sorry if that makes it more confusing 😔#i hope this was explained in a way that was kind of coherent... i fear this post may be hard to understand#L.txt#dorohedoro#dorohedoro analysis#ai coleman

Fire the headcan(n)on: Problems with long-term management of biotic resources for maximum strategic potential in the Alliance military
It is obviously not ideal* for a ship's CO to be running risky ground missions, but the issue demonstrated by Commander Shepard actually brings to light a larger dilemma that's been discussed within the upper echelons of the Alliance military for years. Biotic personnel are a huge asset as front-line troops, and any still able-bodied biotic moving off the front lines is considered a net loss. This poses a potential retention problem, since the usual route for advancement would remove them from where they're considered most valuable.
A trail of internal communications dating back over a decade (recently acquired by Westerlund News) documents how the Alliance instructed recruiters to push biotics to enlist (with exorbitant sign-on bonuses) rather than attend school for a commission.
It's worth noting that when faced with a similar recruitment-and-retention problem for pilots, the Alliance chose to offer commissions, while technically-skilled Specialists can be brought in as officers or warrant officers, depending on their pre-military career and level of education.
Alliance military doctrine suggests preventing a "Shepard Problem" not by restricting a biotic CO to their ship, but by making sure they'll never command a vessel in the first place. If at all possible, biotic personnel should not be given the opportunity to advance to senior command positions until they are physically unable to serve on the front lines.
*Understatement
#exposé!#Who the FUCK let Shepard get a commission?!#someone screwed up#this will either get no traction or someone who actually knows military shit will rip it apart#but since militaries use very similar words in different ways all over#I shall claim genuine confusion#and point at Bioware's utter disgrace of a rank system#I do like the idea that biotics are a unique 'problem'#because they're not easily replaceable#and their skill requires actually BEING there#Mass Effect's canon ranks are a MESS#don't get any fic author started#many people have tried to fix them#many have perished in the attempt#mass effect#fire the headcan(n)on

i do have to confess that one of my favorite jack spot dynamics to rotate in my brain is jack being a few years older than spot and knowing him in the refuge/as kids and spot having a Massive crush on him and being extremely pissed about that fact years later when they re-meet/reconnect. he doesn't have a crush anymore he's just angry that it ever happened. jack wasn't a jerk and was in fact completely oblivious to it so there's no reason for spot to be so peeved but he's steaming at the ears every time he remembers being infatuated with jack kelly.
#race thinks it's the funniest thing ever in the entire world#newsies#spot conlon#jack kelly#i like the idea of spot and jack falling out of touch or w/ever (talking modern au now ig)#so when race introduces his new boyfriend/fling/situationship jack is like :))) spot! i know you!#and spot is like >:(((( fuck this.#and then they don't get along for a while because spot is peeved and jack is confused and annoyed and frustrated and race is like ???#when spot finally forces himself to explain everything to race race tries (and fails) to not laugh his ass off it#he wouldn't tell jack bc that would be breaking spot's (hard won easily lost) trust but he is like Please can u be friends

S4 WHY ARE YOU SO GOOD AND WEIRD
I love the fourth season. It does so many things right. But also. …it's kinda a mess.
Like a very pretty mess. But a mess. And I could write a wholeass essay on it. Don't feel like it right now.
I will say this one thing now though: it has always confused me how of all the seasons, S2 is the one that really explores being a kid in an apocalypse without really an adults to guide said kid, and not…S4?
Sure, there's adults in S2, but Clementine is stuck in this weird grey zone where she can't really rely on them, and has to be her own adult. And this does include Kenny, depending on what people choose to do, and what they interpret. Because he was easily just as bad given the specific scenes. Better, given other scenes, but the bad was…really bad.
But then there's S4. And like, yeah sure, the schoolkids are there to represent a healthy but struggling community—in that there's things to work through, but they genuinely care for each other, and they do whatever it takes to survive, regardless of what they think a "liability" is.
But like. The season never really explored the extent of what being abandoned by adults really would imply??
Like why is S2 the only one where exploring substances as a kid is a thing? Clementine can smoke and drink there, and that's with adult influence. Whereas with S4, nothing. Even though the fishing shack looks like it's a hotspot for booze.
I dunno if I'm making sense. This is why I generally write essays and not splurge on a post. Lol. But. I just. I just wish S4 really explored what the adults leaving did to those kids, man. Beyond what the season did.
S4 in this regard just felt like they knew what being a troubled kid implied, but they actually never wanted to depict kids doing more adult things, other than survival, even though Clementine 1) could've smoked and drank before because…the adults around her were…hmph, and 2) she is literally raising a child on her own. Like it beats around the bush but in a weird and obscure way that I don't have the energy to pick apart.
I just.
#volt's shit#twdg#the walking dead game#twdg 4#twdg clementine#twdg violet#twdg louis#twdg marlon#twdg brody#twdg tenn#twdg mitch#twdg willy#twdg ruby#twdg aj#i 100% know i didn't get all i wanted to across but im just pooped#but given the major fic im writing for the fandom this is something i think about *a lot*#like i get it they're kids still#but the reality is without a structured society kids are *easily* roped into the same environment that the adults are in#which like no shit just look at clementine#but it's her character which confuses me because telltale *has* illustrated what a kid without guidance does#and what happens is they explore things wayy too early and get to the point where they shoot someone at a bar over “business adulting” stuf#on accident but still she landed her ass in airport jail#i just dont get why the schoolkids didnt get the same treatment?#obviously the game doesn't just ignore it but it does beat around the bush in a weird way
