absolutely loved the breakdowns The Wrap did for the first two episodes of Agatha All Along i swear 😭 for one i love to hear Jac talk about her creations and it's a delight to know what went on in her mind and what was her creative process like when she made Wandavision and now A3. she is absolutely brilliant, smart, witty and has a vision few in the industry do.
[can i also say how much i loved her indulging in theories and giving us Wanda truthers hope like she isn't one herself. this woman knows how to set up chaos and anticipation like no one else]

Countdown to Agatha: Darkhold Diaries: Day 633
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is something so so chaotic yet elegant about the choice of this hairstyle for Agatha. I’m unsure of if it’s a wig or not - but either way the hair is beautiful (hats off to the wig/hairstyling department).
The center part with a loose, top knot with a small twist sets her apart from all the other witches thus far in the series: Wanda, Evanora, and even Agatha herself. All whilst in their full witch regalia had free flowing hair - adding dynamic movement from the forces of magic and flight. This new bun might imply change and adventure as she needs to tame her mane for logistical purposes. But yet, it is still unable to be tamed, still a presence and weapon of power from whatever angle she faces. Her facade of power.
TLDR: The new hairstyle refreshes Agatha’s look whilst maintaining her hair as a key part of her character design and presence.

Friendly, good natured reminder to the lesbians, as it looks like tonight will be a Wiccan backstory episode.
Tumblr media
I love you, I’m with you, and Agatha x Rio will get their turn.
But Billy is a big deal, he’s headlined Marvel Pride literally every year since its inception, and it was horrific what Multiverse of Madness did to him (going from the “love is for souls not bodies” WandaVision ethos to “two of Marvel’s only queer characters exist exclusively in the imagination of the mentally ill woman we’ve now decided is homicidal and suicidal” 🙃).
He needs this moment. Wiccan x Hulkling (Wiccling), Marvel Pride & yes, Wanda—who was also blatantly character assassinated—they need this moment.
Before Jac Schaeffer has to hand them off to another writer (again).
We shouldn’t be in this position: Where Jac Schaeffer has to join the likes of Allan Heinberg, Anthony Oliveira, Tom King and Steve Orlando as Wanda’s cleanup writer in the MCU—battling Michael Waldron and Sam Raimi the way they have long done battle with misogynistic comics writers, like John Byrne and Brian Michael Bendis. Her colleagues should’ve treated WandaVision as the precious gift it was, not left her an editorial mess to clean up.
But this is where we are. Billy, Tommy & Wanda didn’t deserve to be discarded—they deserved proud legacies as representation for the women, people with mental health struggles, and queer youth who look up to them. So she’s fixing it. Then, she’ll get to the lesbians. Have a little faith and
Let her cook.
(And enjoy watching one of my all-time favorite characters step into his own!! Wiccan is a Gem 😊💙 & he supports the lesbians as much as you do, trust, lol.)

agatha finale rant
so I’ve been seeing a lot of people complaining about the finale of Agatha and I wanted to give my two cents on their main points:
1. “they used agatha’s show as a way to promote a man!!” well yes! that’s how marvel tv works im afraid. or any tv, really. wandavision was used to introduce agatha and monica, which led to their projects in the mcu (aaa, marvels). agatha introduced billy, leading to his future in visionquest or his solo series, which will introduce tommy and vision, which will lead to children’s crusade to reintroduce wanda. this is common for any tv show, but especially a big, connected franchise like marvel. i find it so concerning that even after all the promotion that showed us billy and agatha as co-leads, people were STILL shocked when the finale sets up a future story centered around him. like i hate to break it to yall but marvel wants money. and more shows means more money.
2. “they killed off a lesbian woman and not the gay man!” first of all, in the comics, agatha is a spirit guide for the scarlet witch. this form is her most comic accurate yet. also, did yall really think that was an unfair ending? or an ending PERIOD? all her death made me think of was the possibilities for the future with both billy AND rio. and again; rio was promoted as the ‘antagonist’ to agatha since the beginning. i don’t know how people went into this excepting a happily ever after for these two. they were always depicted as tragic lovers, and i honestly think the kiss of death was beautiful and poetic. i also don’t think this is the last we’re seeing of rio. and, as a side note, homophobia is still not okay! it doesn’t matter if you’re also gay; lesbians can be homophobic towards gay men, and gay men can be lesbophobic towards lesbians. and i’ve seen wayyyy too much of both in this fanbase. you can criticize characters and critique actors without bringing up their sexuality. we have enough incel homophobes doing that for us
3. if you’re still complaining about wanda not coming back i have no hope for you
4. this show, since day ZERO, was promoted as a show with billy and agatha as coleads. while i wish we had more backstory for how agatha and rio met, the salem flashbacks involving nicholas, the road scheme, and the song were much more important to the show. the parallels between nicky and billy were explored throughout the season a lot more than agatha and rios story (whether or not you like it, it’s still true (i personally wish we had a bit more on how they met 😭))
5. sending hate to actors about things their characters did is STILL not okay! and never will be!
6. this might be a hot take but if you’re only watching a show for a ship and don’t care about the story at all your opinion is irrelevant to me. like people who started watching after it was revealed in the show that agatha and rio were lovers (because, correct me if i’m wrong, this was never revealed before the episodes dropped) have no right to be upset when the show focuses on other things. and this is coming from a MASSIVE fan of agathario. and a lesbian. i loved the fact that i was watching characters who just happened to be lesbians have their own story. yes, i wish there was more agathario in the flashbacks. but i’m really not upset at all by what we got. and don’t get me wrong, people have every right to be disappointed, but they don’t have the right to hate on the creators and actors of the show. that’s not cool.
this is way longer than i thought it was gonna be 😭😭 hope everyone enjoyed the finale

Someone on twitter said Jenna Ortega would be the perfect Agathario’s daughter and now I can’t unsee it. So here is me, in full fanfiction mode!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m gonna just pretend they had a daughter too.
After Nicholas death, Rio thought Agatha could made a deal with their daughter too, so she took all the memories from both Agatha and their kid.
She grows up knowing she is a witch, that she have two mothers, but can’t remember them, just the feeling of being part of a family and be loved. She has this feeling of grief, like she lost someone, but can’t remember her twin brother and his death. She is a mind and blood witch, she can have visions of her mothers, and things happening to them, but she can’t see their faces, or know if the things she is seeing is in the past, present or future. Her power can be very manipulative of thoughts and intentions. So she made herself a famous person and did movies about the things she sees, in the hope her mothers can find her in a way she can’t find them.
She is ambitious, like Agatha, and made herself a truly famous and rich person. As the daughter of The original green witch and Lady Death she values and respect the flow of life. She feels really connected to nature, but don’t know about her mothers powers. When not using her powers for manipulation, she can be supportive of people having difficulty dealing with their own emotions, bad or good, without taking their agency on it.
The visions get scarier, more violent, she doesn’t know if it is because her mothers are in danger or her mind power is getting out of control. She goes after other witch to help her, meeting Lilia. Having other witch help, her powers gets stronger, the Salem Seven found her, Rio senses the danger on her daughter’s life and goes after Agatha, breaking the memory spell.
And finally, the path of the three crosses.
Names? A thought of Morgana, but sounds obvious.
Agnes would be kind of bittersweet, like Agatha picked this name, on wandavision time, because that was something calling her to it, but she couldn’t know exactly why, like she wanted hold this name close to her. As she senses it is the perfect name to trying to manipulate someone, like her daughter’s ability. That would fit well with her helping Wanda with the twins, when she had twins too, and she liking Billy more, as she could feel she had a kid with mind powers.
I like Selene too, can be the personification of the moon, who is very associated with emotions, for someone who can play with it.
As someone who loves drama, I will say Agnes Harkness-Vidal.
Ok now I will stop!
#EDIT:
Oww
Tumblr media
Here is Agnes, getting her mother, LADY DEATH, to an award ceremony with her. She made Rio promise that she wouldn’t be taking any soul in the ceremony!
Rio being like “Well, he’s kind old, just one, can I?”

Agatha All Along deep dive: episode 2 part 2
(Wandavision entries: [1][2][3])
(AAA entries: ep1 [1][2][3][4] ep2 [1][2][3][4] ep3 [1][2][3] ep4 [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][+1] ep5 [1][2][3][4][5] ep6 [1][2][3] ep7 [1][2][3][4][5][6] ep8 [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] ep9 [1][2][3][4][5][6])
Tumblr media
here's another Agatha reflection that I didn't notice yesterday - it's a theme, I tell you
Tumblr media
she's essentially doing what she does at the beginning of Wandavision, although with no prep time and no magic for costume changes: a ditzy over the top wife with the made up farway husband
Tumblr media
I'd get a couple more candles back there, Lilia. You missed a spot.
But jokes aside, you know what she's doing? She's taking the piss out of agatha. this is Lilia we're talking about, the Seer. her job is literally to See. she knew who and what Agatha was the moment she stepped in, and frankly it's insulting that Agatha would try such cheap tricks on her. this is a little "fuck you agatha" before they get down to business and lilia can tell her to fuck off too
Tumblr media
and yes, agatha underestimates lilia from the start, which is the point of lilia's character and the lesson she has to internalize. but the thing is, lilia IS amazing, powerful and wise from the very beginning. this whole scene is Lilia being better, smarter and more powerful than Agatha, she just doesn't have the self-confidence to recognize it
(but WHY beauford?? best name she could have picked)
Tumblr media
lilia IS in control. she sets the pace of this encounter. agatha is a step behind, which is rare for her
Tumblr media
fuck off, look at that stupid condescending little face
Tumblr media
YASSS read her for filth! but let's recap her exact words (so I have an excuse to listen again to Patti's exquisite delivery and voice control)
"You've been under the influence of another. Someone you hurt." Wanda. And we go back to Agatha torturing Wanda and what it's doing to her, the guilt she feels.
"They took your agency. For three years." Agency is one of the main themes of this show and something that will touch Lilia up close too.
"It's not the first time your witch kin betrayed you." Not the other way round! Yes, Agatha has betrayed, she has hurt and killed. But we need to acknowledge that she was betrayed by her kin, her coven, her community first.
"But you survive, in a way few do." Agatha is a survivor. She dragged herself out of a hellpit, and she was maimed and turned into something horrible in the process. But she fucking survived.
"In fact, that's why you're here." Lilia knows EXACTLY what Agatha is planning, she knows that she's here to kill and she knows why. She knew from the start.
Tumblr media
agatha's face falling more and more
Tumblr media
YES. FUCK YES. THE PERFECT DICTION TROUGH GRITTED TEETH. SHE IS NOT INTERESTED!! GIVE THIS WOMAN ALL THE MONOLOGUES BECAUSE SHE'S GONNA CRUSH THEM
Tumblr media
I know, Billy. this is also the way I look at stage goddess patti lupone
Tumblr media
SHE IS CRYING AGAIN! DO YOU SEE IT!!! DO YOU SEE THIS SHIT?!!?!? SHE'S CRYING AT BEING SEEN SO CLEARLY, BECAUSE SHE'S ALWAYS HIDING. AND SHE'S CRYING WITH RELIEF, TRIUMPH AND GUILT BECAUSE SHE'S FOUND THIS AMAZING EXTRAORDINARY WONDERFUL WITCH AND SHE HAS TO KILL HER SO SHE WON'T DIE HERSELF TONIGHT
DON'T TOUCH ME, I'M IN A GLASSCASE OF EMOTIONS.
Tumblr media
that's a predator right there
Tumblr media
nuh-uh babe, she's got your number. you are not going to win this one. (i'm drinking up all the details in her room. look at that old singer sewing machine, that's a 70s or 80s model - everything in the room is at least 40 years old. Is she making herself a quilt? is she cold at night? we know she doesn't have the money to pay her bills)
Tumblr media
I KNOW, BILLY!!!
lol, you know when patti told joe locke something like, 'sorry you're stuck here with all these old ladies'?? and he was like, no you don't undeRSTAND
(I mean, Patti has met plenty of gay boys. she understands.)
Tumblr media
Lilia jumps for a moment to episode 5 and hears the ghost of Agatha's mom yelling at her. (aw, her chairs are all mismatched.)
Tumblr media
Billy is always so polite. and look at Agatha's body language, she's doing the same thing she did when torturing Wanda, kind of hugging herself. both predatory and defensive, because, once again, she is not as comfortable as she seem. she is not being sincere, she is out to manipulate lilia, and she's not happy about it
Tumblr media
I live for lilia's rants about the commodification and gentrification of the queer witch community (look at those gorgeous italian plates!)
Tumblr media
she actually did bite a kid once
Tumblr media
"when I was chased out of every village I passed through for accurately predicting tragedy? NO, I do NOT. BEAT IT, harkness!" I adore her delivery. and also. ouch. ouch. my sweet lilia. so many years, so much pain
Tumblr media
When watching this scene for the first time, you identify with Billy and just sit back and enjoy these two extraordinary witches and actresses working together. the first episodes are high on comedy but they all have a serious, upsetting undertone, and it's especially gratifying to see how both actresses work with voice, face and body language to express what they can't say explicitly. Lilia is an incredibly old, wise, experience witch, but also tired, alone, humiliated. She's been jumping through time and she's really frightened about it. And right now? She's quite literally going against the most dangerous serial killer of witches in known history. She can stand her own against Agatha and then some, but she is not confident enough to see it yet.
Tumblr media
A question that reads ironic but is delivered without a hint of irony. Why are you dragging a child into this? You of all people. Why are you putting a literal child in danger?
Tumblr media
an ironic answer also delivered with no irony. it's threatening, and it's also protective of Billy
Tumblr media
agatha gambles: maybe she can get lilia mad enough later and get blasted anyway. maybe she has other means to steal (a kiss, mayhaps?) And Billy better not hear this, she's not gonna kill him or anything but, you know, keeping her options open. just in case.
Tumblr media
lilia DOES NOT need to return to her clairvoyant glory. lilia is one of the most if not the most powerful seer. her isolation is self-imposed. agatha is completely out of her depth here.
Tumblr media
case in point: agatha does successfully con jen and alice, but she does NOT con lilia. not even close. she had nothing. lilia was in control of the conversation the whole time, seeing through agatha the whole time, and she was always going to say no.
Tumblr media
"Three of Pentacles." collaboration, community, singular voices waiting to harmonize. Lilia REACHES THROUGH TIME and MAKES herself join Agatha. How fucking heartwrenching is that???? Agatha never tricked Lilia into doing anything. Lilia is sitting at the tarot table in her Glinda costume, for the first time fully confident and fully aware in her power, and she just - she grabs herself in the past and says, this is your family. this is your coven. you have chosen it. go and reclaim it. that is why Lilia follows them to the Road. not because Agatha is powerful, but because Lilia is.
Tumblr media
and present Lilia is just so scared. she knows this is going to kill her.
FUCK I love this show so much!
(and a quick shoutout to @sapphicjew, I'm loving your commentary!)

Casually Cruel
Chapter 2: Cruel for the Sake of Love
Pairing: Agatha Harkness x reader
Summary: set in WandaVision 1.09. After Agatha’s defeat, you beg Wanda not to brainwash her.
Previous chapter.
Tumblr media
It was only when you could no longer see Westview in the distance that you dared lower yourself and Agatha to the ground. You'd started getting tired what felt like an eternity ago, but you kept going, kept flying; the further you were from that town, from Wanda Maximoff, the safer Agatha was.
She was powerless now. Vulnerable. It was up to you to protect her.
She'd noticed you were struggling and had asked you to get down miles ago, but you'd told her it was fine. You were fine. You could do this.
You landed amidst a thick forest you didn't recognize, in a small clearing that seemed relatively safe. There were no people around. No witches. If a wild animal were to pounce, you could take care of it with ease.
As soon as you caught your breath.
You doubled over, taking in deep gulps of breath as if you'd been held underwater. It's okay, you kept telling yourself. It's okay. It's okay. I'm okay. You were far from, but the more you repeated it, the more likely it was that it would become true.
Agatha rubbed your back, softly, gently, light as a feather. "It's okay, angel."
The familiar warmth engulfed you; her touch always did that. You used to think it was her magic bringing you comfort, but now you knew it was her. Just her.
Hearing it from her mouth was enough to believe it.
You were okay.
You could breathe now.
The danger had passed.
Straightening up, you turned to Agatha and said, "Let me look at you."
Your hands were on her cheeks, cupping them, grabbing them. Too harsh, too forceful, but you couldn't help yourself. You needed to make sure that this was real. That she was real. That this wasn't some trick Wanda had played, a spell that had trapped you in your mind, giving you false hope that everything was normal. That you and Agatha were safe.
"Are you okay?" you asked, more for your own peace of mind than hers.
"I'm fine," Agatha said, even though she was clearly not.
Your eyes burned again, welling with tears. Your grip on her tightened. "Did she hurt you?"
She pulled at your hands, trying to pry them off her face; uselessly so for the more she fought you, the stronger you held on.
The black from her fingers was fading. Dark magic abandoning her as her regular magic had.
It sent another pang of pain through you.
She'd lost everything she'd worked for for centuries. All the power she'd amassed, collected, stolen, was gone, just like that.
She'd been beaten. Defeated. Humiliated.
You'd almost lost her.
Why hadn't she listened to you? Why did she have to be so fucking stubborn?
Why did she put you in a position to beg for her life, for her mind?
Why did she break you without laying a single finger on you?
Why did she have so much power over you?
"Stop that," Agatha commanded.
She didn't get to do that. Not after what she'd put you through. "Did she hurt you?" you demanded, fingers digging into her face.
"No," she said in that no nonsense tone that always told you playtime was over. She was serious, and you were going to hear it. "You are hurting me."
The realization shattered you. You instantly released her, brimming with guilt. With pain.
You had hurt her.
It was the last thing you'd wanted to do, yet you still did it. You had caused her pain.
You were just so angry.
At Wanda, for taking her power. For wanting to take her away from you.
At Agatha, for starting this shitshow in the first place.
At yourself, for being unable to help her. For being unable to do anything but watch her get drained, and then beg for her mind.
"I almost lost you!" you snapped, no longer able to hold it in. Not wanting to hold it in anymore. She wouldn't listen to you then, but she would now. She had to. "Do you realize that? I almost fucking lost you!"
Agatha flinched. You never talked to her like that. Even when you were pissed beyond belief, you never lashed out at her. You never fired the gun with the intent to hurt her.
Tough luck. This time, she hurt you first.
Payback was a bitch, as she damn well knew.
"This isn't exactly a walk in the park for me, either," she retorted.
"And whose fault is that, huh?!"
The words stung as soon as they left your mouth. You didn't mean to be that harsh. You didn't mean to twist the knife. It hurt to be hurting her. Salt to the wound; not just hers, but yours, as well.
At the same time, there was no other way to go about this.
This was her fault. She had gone after Wanda first. She had manipulated her. Played with her. Attacked her.
You'd begged her not to, to leave it alone. Something had felt wrong from the very start.
You were overreacting, she'd told you. You should just relax and enjoy the show.
Some show it was.
It shouldn't have been a surprise, really. Since when did Agatha listen to reason?
That didn't make it — didn't make this entire fucked up situation — hurt any less.
Agatha recoiled as if slapped. "You're out of line."
"No, you are out of line!" Angry tears spilled from your eyes. Your cheeks were on fire, your heart a drum abusing your chest. "Why didn't you listen to me? I told you this was a bad idea. I fucking told you!"
She was silent for a moment, at a loss of words. She knew you were right. Knew there was no argument she could possibly provide that would beat your words. "What can I say? Listening to people isn't my strong suit."
"Clearly," you said with more venom than you'd intended.
"Newsflash, sweetheart: I came exactly as advertised. You knew what you were getting into."
That was the saddest part of it all. You knew, from day one, what she was like, and you'd still allowed yourself to fall in love with her. You'd allowed her into your life, into your heart, and now she was here to stay. And the worst of it all was that you wanted her to.
You couldn't imagine your life without her.
Agatha continued, "If I'm such a burden, you should've let Wanda have her way with my mind and been done with it."
It was your turn to flinch. Shots fired right back. She knew exactly which buttons to push, which bleeding wound to poke. "You're not a burden." She could never be.
"Aren't I?" Her eyes lowered to her dress, the last keepsake of her once great power. To her nails, iridescent purplish-blue, attached to fingers that used to be black.
"Never." You grabbed her hands, gently this time. Entwined your fingers with hers. "I don't care how much power you have. I never did. You are all that matters."
You squeezed her hands like you always did when she was under the weather, letting her know that you were here. That you weren't going anywhere. Not ever. No matter what.
"You're the most important thing in my life. That's why I'm so fucking pissed at you. You do things like this, and you don't care that you could get hurt. And I can't protect you if you do. I don't have that kind of power."
Agatha finally looked at you, surprise etched over her face. Still, all these years — decades, centuries — later, she couldn't believe you had her back. No matter how many promises you made, how many risks you took, she could never get it through her head that someone could love her. That someone could put her first.
That she deserved that kind of devotion.
If only she knew how much she meant to you. Mere words and actions couldn't express it.
It needed to be felt.
"I don't know what I would've done if she didn't let you go." You were bawling now, the mere thought of what could have been enough to send you over the edge. "She-she would've had to kill me. I wouldn't be able to let her do that to you. So don't you dare say I should've let her have you. I would never."
You expected Agatha to put on one of her nonchalant masks and act like your words didn't matter. You expected her to call you an idiot. You expected her to sigh and roll her eyes and tell you not to be so dramatic.
Instead, she pulled you to her and enveloped you in a hug. She was warm and tender. Safe. Loving. You melted into her embrace, sobbing into her chest as if your life depended on it. As if this was a farewell instead of the middle of your journey.
"I never think before I talk, do I?" she said, more to herself than to you. "I don't know how you put up with me."
You resisted an urge to chuckle and utter a snarky retort. "You're not that bad."
"Mmm. So you say." She sighed. "I'm… sorry. For putting you in that position. It wasn't fair to you."
You would sooner get blood from a stone than an apology out of her. Agatha Harkness didn't apologize. She usually just kissed you or offered sex as a way of making up.
Wasn't this a unicorn?
"Please, don't do it again," you said softly. "I don't mind going on these… escapades with you. I just don't want you to go against dangerous witches."
Silence befell you for a moment or two. Then, "Okay. Done."
You didn't buy it. "Just like that?"
"Let's say I've learned my lesson."
What a lesson that was.
"And stay away from Wanda Maximoff. I don't want you anywhere near that woman," you told her.
An even longer pause. "Done."
"I'm serious." You pulled away and looked her in the eyes. Made it loud and clear that you meant every word. "I'm as pissed at her as you are, but this is not a battle you can win. There are other witches. You don't need her power."
"Like I said: done."
"Promise me."
Because she never broke a promise to you. Not a single one.
Agatha gave a small nod. "I promise."
And, finally, you believed her.
You let out a sigh of relief. Another concern lifted.
"You're sure you're okay?" you asked, wiping your eyes with the sleeve of your shirt. Why did the tears keep coming? What was wrong with you?
"I'm peachy. All things considered."
"You're here. You're alive. You're safe. That's all that matters, " you said. "You can replenish your power."
"And how long's that gonna take?" she retorted, frustrated at the situation she'd found herself in. Frustrated af you for making sense when all she wanted to do was rant and whine.
"However long it does, you'll get it back."
"And until then, what? I'm supposed to frolic around, cosplaying as a human?"
"It's not like you'll be alone." If she thought you were going anywhere, she was gravely mistaken.
"Without my power, I'm a target."
God knew she had plenty of enemies — as well as a toxic ex — to hide from.
You raised a hand, fingers wiggling as magic crackled between them. "Like I said, you're not alone."
Agatha allowed a small smile to creep onto her mouth.
You returned it. "I won't let anyone hurt you."
That was your promise to her.
You had every intention of keeping it.
"I know you won't." She hated saying it, hated being the one being protected instead of the protector, but she knew she could count on you. She knew you would do anything for her.
You'd shielded her from the Scarlet Witch. You were terrified, scared to the bone, but you did it because you loved her. Because you wanted to keep her safe.
You were ready to die for her.
She couldn't have been in better hands.
"If you want, I can give you some of my power," you offered.
It was a risk; Agatha couldn't control herself when she siphoned, couldn't stop until she drained her target dry.
Maybe she could learn. Maybe you could stop her.
You were willing to take that chance.
Apparently, she was not. "Absolutely not!" She said, appalled, mortified at the mere suggestion. Her face contorted into what looked like pure, unadulterated distaste. "Are you out of your mind? I would kill you!"
"Maybe I can stop you."
"How? With the power of love? Will there be rainbows and unicorns and sprinkles of fairy dust? Will we hold hands and sing Kumbaya while I'm sucking the life out of you?"
Maybe.
Who was to say that wouldn't work?
"We'll figure something out," you said, shrugging as if this didn't bother you a single bit. As if it would be easy to change part of Agatha's nature that she'd never gotten under control in all her centuries on this earth in a few short days.
"Yeah. I'll find witches to drain. There, I figured it out," she said sternly.
"I don't like the idea of you being powerless." Even if it was her fault. Getting her ass kicked for it, for involving you in the shenanigans against your will, you could deal with. But this was too much.
It hurt to see her like this.
"I'm not awfully partial to that idea, either, but the prospect of killing you doesn't lift my spirits as much as you might think."
"Fine," you relented, defeated. Agatha may not have her power anymore, but her tongue remained as sharp as ever. You doubted even the Scarlet Witch's brainwashing would have dulled it. "When you say it like that."
"Y/N, I mean it. Do not blast me."
"I won't."
"If you do, I won't be able to stop, and I will kill you."
"I know, Agatha. I've seen you do it. I know what happens."
"I would hope you would after two centuries, but obviously I need to paint a clearer picture."
"You don't get to be mad at me," you said petulantly. You were one step away from stomping your foot. "I'm still mad at you. And I want another hug, but I'm not gonna ask for it because you're being a bitch."
She gasped dramatically. "Oh, no. Whatever will I do now?"
You rolled your eyes. Then, with a thought of, Fuck it, you threw your arms around her and held on for dear life. Life was too short to stay angry for long. Especially when you were with Agatha. No time in the world would ever be enough to have her in your life. Why waste it on petty arguments?
Her hands were on your back instantly, an instinct she'd grown into over the centuries of your relationship. When you held her, she leaned in. When you needed her, she reached for you. When you hugged her, she hugged back.
"I love you, you silly girl," you said softly, each word straight from the heart.
"Right back at you, angel," she said. Equally earnest. Equally honest. "So stop this talk of giving me your power."
"I just wanna take care of you." That was all you ever wanted.
Having her be so vulnerable, so exposed was killing you. What if something happened when you were away? What if someone hurt her and you weren't there to protect her?
"You already have," Agatha told you. "I wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for you. That's more than I could have ever asked for."
"I couldn't let her have you."
The mere thought of the Scarlet Witch was enough for your fingers to crackle with magic. You willed it back, shoved the anger down. There would be time for a tantrum later. Preferably when you didn't have your arms around a magic siphoner who couldn't control herself.
Offering her your power — your life — was a terrible idea. You didn't want to risk your life. You didn't want to die.
All you wanted was for Agatha to be okay. You wanted her to be that powerful witch whom everyone feared again. She'd worked too hard to earn that reputation for it to go to waste.
What could you possibly do for her? You were an average witch, at best. Nobody feared you. Few people even respected you.
How could you look after Agatha like that?
"I know, sugar." She pulled back from the hug, then pressed her forehead to yours. Her lips curled in a smile you knew all too well, the kind she always flashed when the mood was low and she wanted to bring it up for there was no use dwelling on the bad when there was so much more good ahead — figuratively speaking, of course. "That was you taking care of me. Now, leave the rest to me."
"Okay." You still weren't a hundred percent on board with this plan, but you trusted her. Agatha had never let you down before. If she wanted to take charge, so be it. Within reason. "But I still volunteer as your bodyguard. Until you power up again."
"I was thinking more in terms of you being my pet," she teased.
Two could play this game. "Considering the roles you choose in the bedroom, I'd say you're more my pet than I've ever been yours."
"Keyword being choose, honey. I can just as easily make different choices."
Color you intrigued. "Is that a promise?"
She smirked wickedly, like she knew you liked. "It's a threat."
"Consider me properly terrified," you played along.
She lifted your chin up with a finger, her nail grazing your skin. Gentle, yet firm. Hot and cold. "Good girl."
That alone was enough to send a shockwave through you.
God, you wanted her. Here, on this dirty ground. In muddy puddles and piles of leaves and branches. Just like back in the day, when you'd first gotten together.
Back then, the location didn't matter; what mattered was the moment, and that you'd used it to the fullest. Dirt, filth, taint, all irrelevant, ignored.
What a honeymoon phase that was.
Fuck!
Agatha may have been powerless, but she still had you under her control. She always did, and always would.
And, to be honest, you didn't want for that to change.
That power was what attracted you to her in the first place.
It wasn't her magic that made you want her, desire her, crave her like an addict chasing their high.
It was her.
Just her.
"I suppose being your pet isn't that bad," you conceded. Understatement of the century. "Honestly, anything is better than being your daughter."
Agatha shrugged. "Our options were limited."
"I'll never let you forget you made me do that."
"Made you? I made it perfectly clear that you could stay inside."
"And do what? Play hide and seek with that weirdo you cast as your husband?"
The truth was, you wanted to stay by her side to make sure she was okay at all times. You didn't yet know what Wanda was, but you could tell she was bad news. Her magic just smelled like trouble.
So you kept Agatha safe, more for your piece of mind than hers.
Until she'd told you to stay back and had ended up humiliated and defeated.
Agatha raised an eyebrow. "Is that jealousy I'm hearing?"
What was there to be jealous of? The guy was hot, you had to give him that, but he was nothing to her. It was strictly business. No pleasure for anyone involved. "Annoyance, actually. I couldn't stand that guy."
This prompted her to laugh, heartily. A stereotypical witch cackle you always teased her about, that she loved bringing out for the sheer drama of it.
"Speaking of," she said, cutting the laughter short, "someone needs to go get Señor Scratchy."
Right.
Her rabbit.
You knew you'd forgotten something.
"I'll go get him tomorrow," you said. You held up a finger in warning. "By myself."
Agatha raised her hands defensively. "I promised I'm not going back there. I'm a woman of my word."
You raised an eyebrow, skeptical.
She pouted. "I resent that implication."
You pecked her on the lips, which prompted her to curl them into a smile. One of those cute ones you could never get enough of.
"Come on," you said. "Let's go rent a room."
There was bound to be a hotel nearby. It didn't have to be rated highly, or be in the best neighborhood. All the two of you needed was a safe place to sleep for a few days, until you figured out what to do next.
Until Agatha felt comfortable in her skin again.
She could play nonchalant all she wanted; you knew it was killing her that she didn't have her power anymore. That she was this close to losing her mind along with it. She was one wrong step, one wrong word away from a full-on breakdown, and you needed for that to happen somewhere warm and safe. You needed for there to be a bath you could run for her, and a bed you could hold her in.
You needed for there to be a soft place for her to land on.
"Slight problem: you suck at mind control," Agatha said.
You gave her a look that threatened murder.
"No offense."
All possible offense.
She wasn't wrong, though. You'd ever quite gotten the grasp on it, no matter how many times she'd showed you how to do it. The few times you'd managed to get it working, it hadn't held for longer than mere hours.
It was easier for everyone involved for Agatha to do it.
And now she couldn't.
"I have a credit card, remember?" you said.
"It will eventually run out," she pointed out.
"I just need it for a few days. Until you teach me how to do proper mind control."
"Those lessons never stuck."
"Well, now they'll have to, won't they?" There was no better time to learn a new skill than when you had no other options. Desperate times called for desperate measures. "Until we find you some witches to drain."
Agatha sighed dramatically. "Honey, what would you do without me?"
You would probably be under much less stress.
But you didn't mind it. You loved your life with her in it. Even when she got herself into life or death situations, and put you in positions you never wanted to be in.
You loved her, through thick and thin, and good and bad.
You loved what the two of you had.
You wouldn't trade it for the world.

I'm rewatching WandaVision to edit a gif and then had to stop when Agatha claimed she was being patient with Wanda:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I laughed right here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then she mentioned she was gently nudging Wanda awake.
That was where I hit pause and chuckled because IMO, she was neither gentle nor patient. I guess Agatha let Wanda play things out for a few days.
Rio was IMO, a lot more gentle nudging Agatha awake.
Every time Agatha as Agnes looked like she was struggling, Rio went back to humoring 'Agnes' so she wouldn't break Agatha's brain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rio seemed more ready to humor Agatha with a twinkle in her eye without being condescending. Also, I suppose Rio being who she is, could see both the reality of what Agatha saw in the hex while existing in the real world.
She even found a way to get 'photos' of Jane Doe to present to Agatha.
Also, Rio's question "Is this really how you see yourself?" holds so much more weight now (as of episode 7).
Because as we learn more, Detective Agnes really isn't that far off from our Agatha. But it's interesting how Agatha saw herself, as not the villain everyone, including possibly herself, thought she was.
In this self-sustained hex (both Rio and Billy Teen pointed out that Agatha was keeping herself in the distorted self) Agatha saw herself as a Brilliant but unorthodox cowboy Detective, who would bend any law to solve a case.
Being observant and keeping things close to her chest must have done a lot to help Agatha survive through the centuries. I bet when the detective genre started gaining ground, Agatha loved it.
I won't be surprised if Agatha was actually a fan of the Noir Detective stories, but imagined herself as both the Detective and the Femme Fatale.
It's funny, genuinely funny to me that Rio was more patient but it might be because Rio is dealing with Agatha. Rio is angry with Agatha but she didn't take out her anger on Agatha while she was helpless and trapped in a hex. She still cared for Agatha because the opposite of love isn't hate, it's apathy. And she's not apathetic about Agatha at all!

Guys, Agatha and Rio fighting because of Billy is OKAY
Because it’s not really about Billy. It’s about them. Billy’s just the immediate problem, the catalyst for a fight that’s been brewing since the first episode.
Now I know there’s been more focus on Billy lately, the same way Wandavision at times focused on Monica and her hero origin story – but Billy's story is here because of what it tells us about Agatha – who's projecting hard on the boy (see my other meta post on their relationship).
And this development isn't a twist. The situation between two has always been tense (in ways good and bad). And it looks like these two messy bitches are basically making their relationship problems everyone’s problem.
Let’s look at what the text’s been telling us, shall we?

There’s animosity between Agatha and Rio that’s unresolved
As sexy their fight in episode one was (and boy was it), there’s certainly anger and resentment between the two, or at least the easily combustible grounds for it. Now we have an idea of why Agatha is mad at Rio (Nicky) although we're less clear about what Agatha did to piss Rio off: was it just Agatha running away or was it something specific she did?
Regardless I don't think Rio is kidding when making threats of bodily harm.

And neither does Agatha. But she knows all too well how quickly Rio caves to her pouty flirting (and let’s be honest Rio knows too), and basically manages to get a reprieve from her exe’s retribution in episode 1.

The agreement: They’ll continue fighting it out once Agatha gets her powers back.
We know this is a serious threat on the backburner because you can hear Agatha muttering about how "she's unstoppable" at the start of episode 2 while planning to flee.
More obviously, Agatha touches on it again in episode 4, asking for Rio to hold off on her violence until she finishes the Road, and they can hang out like old times: “Maybe the Road is like Switzerland…”

I absolutely get how it can be confusing because these two clearly still care for each other and are still attracted to each other, with lots of yearning looks across episode 4 and 5. As Schaeffer puts it, the muscle memory of that love is still there, feelings are still there. They were in love and there is still love between them.
But they never worked through what tore them apart in the first place.
And you can see this when Rio gently and firmly reminds Agatha that Billy isn't her son – that Nicky is really gone, and Rio still did the thing that Agatha hates her for.
Agatha closes herself off and runs, and Rio feels her scar tear open again.
Notably, Rio isn't sorry for doing her job. Her heartfelt confession – possibly the most emotionally vulnerable she can be – isn't an apology. She didn't want to hurt Agatha, but she couldn't do what Agatha wanted either. There's a disconnect there.
Chaotic vs Lawful: Billy is basically the new Nicky
Now we know Nicky was the reason they first separated. And it’s still a theory but I think there's a good chance of Rio wanting Billy dead because he probably should be. Billy Maximoff, born from The Hex, "broke the rules" to survive and some piece of Billy Kaplan still lives on despite a fatal car crash.
And that's partly why Agatha is hardcore-projecting on Billy, Agatha "I did not break the rules, they simply bent to my power" Harkness has always been a rule-breaker. That's what started her path to become the infamous witch-killer.
Not to mention Agatha is a shameless survivor. She'll certainly cheat or take shortcuts if she can get away with it. See episode 3:

Rio, by contrast, follows certain rules – which Agatha taunts her for — "You can't kill me, it's not allowed" – and she has a job she has to do, even if she doesn't want to. There’s a clash here of value systems as well.
To be fair, at this point Rio's motivations aren't entirely clear. It's possible Rio just wants more dead witches, or she gets impatient and angry and decides to go at that emotional vulnerability as a way of hurting her (“You’re vulnerable.” “Only physically.”)
Either way, Rio taking away a boy that Agatha now considers hers (even if only with a massive amount of projecting) after Agatha’s freshly reliving and processing the absolute devastation of Nicky's death. That is sure to bring things to an open conflict.
And these two (in their own way) are so dramatic.
Change and Growth
There are other factors as well, in terms of Agatha’s character arc and journey, which I’ve talked about in my other meta post on these two being star-crossed lovers.
It's a tragic, complicated story with these two. It’s about them, it’s about more than them.

WHAT is going on with Agatha All Along??? With most shows you post about I can sort of guess what's going on but for AAA I only get more and more confused with each post.
okay Wanda and Vision's gay ass little toaster oven son lost his body at the end of 'wandavision' and then possessed the corpse of a dead 13 year old on the day of his bar mitzvah (the 13 year old was being played by a 21 year old. not relevant but guys. we could have tried slightly harder). he wants to find a way to get his straight ass little toaster oven brother into a new body. so he jail broke the witch his mother Specifically Jailed and they found some ragtag lesbian witches to make a coven so they can 'walk the witches road' which will grant them like, a wish or whatever at the end of it. evan peters character from wandavision came back and No One will convince me he's not his x-men character in witness protection program mode. side note I'm Pretty Sure the set for the road is literally just the set of the into the woods movie repurposed and I have no way of confirming that. everyone in the cast is unbelievably hot and so so mean to each other. there's a stevie nicks inspired power ballad. they keep being magically put in minxy little costumes. kathryn hahn has shown both tits AND ass. patti lupone is there.

Is Agatha Harkness a sociopath?
I wanted to make this post ever since I finished Agatha All Along, specifically after Agatha was referred to as a “sociopath” in the series. Now, “sociopath” is not an actual diagnosis and most of the time, what people refer to when it comes to sociopathy and psychopathy is actually anti-social personality disorder (ASPD). In this post, I’ll attempt to “diagnose” Agatha with ASPD and see if she fits the criteria for a diagnosis.
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: I am not a professional, I’m only “diagnosing” Agatha because she’s a fictional character. Do not attempt to do the same for any real person. This post isn’t meant to stigmatize any real person with that condition, this is simply a character study. None of what I’m writing should be used in a real-life context.
1) Failure to obey laws and norms by engaging in behavior which results in criminal arrest, or would warrant criminal arrest
Agatha is quite literally a serial killer. She has been luring witches to their early graves for centuries. We don't know exactly how many people she has killed, but her body count is definitely quite large. I don't think she was ever arrested for her crimes but it definitely warrants a criminal arrest. If it wasn't for Wanda trapping her in the Agnes persona at the end of WandaVision, she would have most likely been arrested, especially since she attempted to kill multiple S.W.O.R.D. soldiers.
2) Deceitfulness, indicated by continuously lying, using aliases, or conning others for personal gain and pleasure.
This one is a given. Her primary means to steal magic was through a con. She deceived and manipulated unsuspecting witches who trusted her with the intent of stealing their magic and killing them. And even before that, she used her own son to lure witches and do the same. She does it primarily for profit, to get more magic, but she does seem to genuinely enjoy deceiving others and gaining pleasure out of it.
In both WV and AAA she was lying, deceiving and manipulating the rest of the cast from the very beginning for her own benefit. She infiltrated Wanda’s hex and posed as her nosy neighbour “Agnes”, graining Wanda's trust with the intent of stealing her magic from the start. She did it primarily for profit but there was also some enjoyment for her when she revealed the truth to Wanda, so much so that she created her own intro song. She was enjoying putting up a show almost as much as getting Wanda's magic.
This pattern of behaviors is seen throughout AAA too, especially upon rewatch. On your first watch, you might not notice but after rewatching a second time fully knowing the end, you can notice how much Agatha has been lying the entire time. Not only did she lie about the road and always intended to murder the cover in her basement, but when the hex road appeared she kept the lie that she went to the road before going. One could say that she had to keep the lie going because she never intended for the road to appear, so those weren’t lies she intended to tell, but at the same time, we can see how easily she can lie and deceive others. She knew all along that Billy created the road and that said road was deadly, yet made no attempt at stopping him. She knew people would die but she kept the lie going because she hoped that she could get back her powers at the end. So she lied, deceived and manipulated the group the entire time for her own gain.
3) Exhibiting impulsivity or failing to plan ahead.
Agatha is someone who likes to be in control, and does give off the illusion of being in control. But the truth is, she isn’t as much in control as she thinks she is, and is quite impulsive. Lots of her shortcomings are a direct consequence of an impulsive decision (fuck around and find out). Being impulsive doesn’t mean she can’t make elaborate schemes, because she sure does. But a lot of those are made impulsively. She sensed Wanda’s magic and decided to join her hex without knowing exactly how Wanda’s magic worked. She even started messing with her without knowing how Wanda’s magic would respond. Then in AAA we see more of her impulsive nature. She doesn’t think through whenever she makes a decision and ends up needing to improvise in order to compensate for her reckless decisions. She told Lilia about how her ability to steal magic worked, she picked a bound witch to be part of her coven, as well as a non-magical woman. The only one in the group that seemed to have the ability to blast was Alice. Not the greatest group if she needed to steal as much magic as possible. On the road, she made a lot of impulsive decisions that were quite reckless, like attempting to break the window and throwing her wine glass during the first trial, suggesting to summon another green witch, pretending to be possessed by Sharon, or messing with the tarot cards. There’s also the way she provoked Billy right after he nearly killed her. Those were all decisions she took without thinking about the consequences, out of impulsivity. But she’s not only impulsive when it comes to being reckless with others’ safety. She was also shown to be impulsive when it comes to helping some of her coven members. When Rio first emerged from Sharon’s grave, Agatha’s first instinct was to get in front of the coven as if she wanted to protect them. When Billy got thrown into the window, Agatha rushed to go check on him, or when Lilia was about to get impaled she jumped to push her out of the sword’s trajectory.
4) Irritability and aggressiveness, indicated by repeatedly getting into fights or physically assaulting others.
Once again, this one is a given. Agatha is easily irritated and very aggressive, she’s quick to anger, losing her patience and snapping at people. She had no issue hurting Wanda when she had her captive in her basement, slamming her against the wall when she got irritated with her. I’d argue that the mass murdering she did over centuries also count as frequent assaults. She’s also quick to engage in physical fights with Rio (although those are mutual on both sides), and there was a moment at the end of episode 3 where Agatha randomly kicked Jen when she was already down after they all went through the water slide.
5) Reckless behaviors that disregard the safety of others.
Agatha did not care how her actions affected the resident of Westview when she was purposefully messing around with the hex. She did not care either on the road. She knew from the beginning that it was a hex and even after seeing they could actually die in the trials, she made no attempt to try telling the others the road was fake. She could have tried to let Billy know he made the road but she didn’t. Because she didn’t care if some of them might die. She had no concern for their safety. She endangered the coven in the first trial by trying to break the window and by refusing to drink the wine. She did so too in the third trial by pretending to be possessed, making the group lose precious time. Same with the fourth trial by messing with the tarot cards and not stopping even when the swords were dangerous dropping on both her and Billy.
6) A pattern of irresponsibility
This is probably the only criteria I’m not sure would apply. There are instances of Agatha being irresponsible, but I don’t think we have seen enough of her personal life to establish a pattern. So until further notice, I’ll consider this criteria doesn’t particularly fit.
7) Lack of remorse after hurting or mistreating another person.
Agatha does not seem to have any remorse for all the people she murdered. She may have some remorse regarding her original coven, including her mother, but that was a much younger Agatha. The Agatha we know now does not seem to feel bad for the people she had killed for centuries. It’s even something she will be really flippant about whenever she talks about how many people she has killed.
She didn’t feel remorse when Sharon died either. Agatha might not have directly killed her, she is still responsible for her death by recruiting her into the coven. And it’s not like Agatha didn’t intend from the start to put Sharon in harm’s way. If her initial intention was to kill the coven, it’s very likely she would have killed Sharon too, or Sharon would have been killed by the Salem Seven. Billy may be indirectly responsible for Sharon’s death because he created the road, he was not aware of that nor did he intend for this to happen. Agatha on the other hand always intended for Sharon to die and did not feel bad when she actually did die. She acted extremely callous after Sharon’s death and never bothered to learn her name, even forgetting who she was later on.
And it’s not just about murder. She didn’t feel bad when she got Alice fired, nor did she feel bad when she learned she was the person who got Jen bound for a hundred years. She didn’t feel bad either about attempting to kill the coven from the beginning and had no qualms about using them to get to the end of the road even if it meant sacrificing them.
The coven’s members aren’t the only people who suffer because of Agatha’s actions. If we go back to WandaVision, Agatha orchestrated Sparky’s death. And she seemed pretty proud about causing a dog to die. It may have been revealed in AAA that Ralph poisoned the dog, but it was under Agatha’s order. He was under her magical control, so the blame is entirely on her. She did not feel bad at all for killing a dog. Speaking of Ralph, as much as his character is played for laughs, what she did to him was also pretty atrocious. She took control of his life, stole his house, and forced him to commit awful acts, causing psychological damage to him to the point he is completely paranoid now. It’s unlikely Agatha knows how Ralph ended up after what she did to him, I highly doubt she’d feel an ounce of remorse for that.
Now, lack of remorse does not mean lack of regrets. Agatha does not feel bad for hurting others and how her actions affected them, but she does have regrets. She does feel bad if her actions negatively affect her, like personal loss or missed opportunity. She did seem to feel regret about killing Alice, but I don’t think she felt remorse. She did not feel bad for Alice, she felt bad because of the consequences she had to face after. She did not intend to kill Alice at that time, and now she has lost any potential trust she could gain from the coven. Not only that, we know Agatha became a ghost because she couldn’t face Nicky in the afterlife, so the regret might also be that she thought her son had seen her kill Alice. I don’t think she felt remorse for what she did to Jen either. When Jen did the unbinding ritual, getting told over and over that she “holds nothing” worked on Agatha possibly because deep down, Agatha knew it was true. She no longer has her son, she has no magic, and she has driven away Rio. She did hold nothing anymore.
Having ASPD does not mean Agatha is incapable of love, or caring about others. She undoubtedly loved and cared about her son. So much so that she developed a soft spot for Billy because he reminded her of Nicky. She loved Rio too. Same for her pet rabbit. Unlike popular belief, lack of empathy is not a criteria for ASPD. It does usually result in low empathy, and that can vary from person to person. Agatha probably has little to no empathy for most people except the rare people she does manage to bond with. You can see it as a selective empathy for those she did love and care about, which included Nicky, Rio, Señor Scratchy and later possibly Billy.
If Agatha does have ASPD, how did it start? Even if sometimes genetics can play a role in developing that personality disorder, you aren’t born with it. Most of the time, it’s caused by the environment, mostly trauma experienced as a child. We know Agatha’s mother hated her. She thought she was born evil. She, with her coven, attempted to have her executed when Agatha was only 18. I do believe the accusations made at her were mostly true. She probably did steal knowledge and practiced dark magic. But Agatha did beg her coven to teach her, so I think it’s very likely that since her mother thought she was born evil, she didn’t allow Agatha to properly learn magic. If Agatha wasn’t taught magic and had this power she couldn’t control (siphoning), it’s not surprising that she would have to steal knowledge in order to learn. Agatha learned from a young age to break the rules in order to get what she wants or needs. And without proper guidance, it’s reasonable to think she might have practiced dark magic.
So yes, even if the accusations were true, her coven and mother are not blameless. Agatha is the way she is because of how she was raised, how she was treated as a child and growing up, and what she had to do in order to learn magic. She never had a healthy support system growing up, there was no possibility for therapy at that time, she was a witch living in the worst era for her kind, and she couldn’t even rely on her fellow witches to protect herself. After accidentally killing her original coven (including her own mother), which was definitely a traumatic event for her regardless if it was self-defence, she kept doing what she did so far to survive; steal, lie, deceive, kill. All the antisocial traits she exhibits as an adult are learned behaviours. Of course, it does not justify her crimes and horrific actions she later committed, but it does explain why she is that way. She wasn’t born evil, she became evil. She’s the product of her environment, experiences, circumstances and era.
