least favorite kind of youtube experience is when you're watching something like "unsolved reddit mysteries" and most of them are interesting searches for lost media or attempts to figure out strange internet phenomena, and then somewhere mixed in with all of that is a post from someone who's clearly just experiencing paranoid delusions and it gets presented as a Mysterious and Spooky Secret

ive been replaying kh1 (going thru the whole series on steam since i never got the chance to play all the games) and i was struck by something a bit odd. i have been dyinggg to talk about it
it's about kairi and her past.
i don't think she's a replica or construct necessarily
but in kh2 there's a parallel drawn between her and sally in halloween town; and the same i think could be true in kh1.
sally is a Frankenstein monster/doll made by the doctor. the entire plot of Halloween town centers around the need for the dr to make a "heart" which requires memories from Sally (the scene of her picking the forget me nots looks a lot like kairi holding a flower for aqua too)
sora takes interest in the project to restore a heart to the heartless too because of his desire to restore Kairi's heart.
i havent really come up with a coherent thought about what this means.
but given that we know kairi was experimented on in a way that involved her heart, it just seems suspicious that this parallel was made twice to her and a doll that was stitched together and animated by a mad scientist.
shes also compared to chirithy in kh3, which from my understanding were created by MoM for keyblade weilders; and to Pooh, who is a toy/story book character that came to life
given too that Kairi already has a weird thing going on with her heart, it just seems possible that theres something..more to it that i have yet to piece together. and its driving me crazy
NO, WAIT… ANON YOU’RE COOKING. Idk what it all means either, but those parallels are so good and so true. Cause there definitely is something artificial about Kairi’s heart, even if just partially. It was experimented on, like you said, and it looks completely different than the organic hearts we see, and I suspect that’s why we’ve never seen Kairi’s heart station. Because it’s (at least partially) artificial. It would look totally different than all the other heart stations and would probably give away what’s going on.

i think i’ve learned a lot when it comes to not applying my own values to the media i consume
for my script analysis class yesterday, we discussed two gentleman from verona, and nearly every classmate of mine was up in arms about how sexist the story is.
and i'm not saying it's not, or that it's not infuriating to read. but i'm also not putting my energy into getting upset about something written 500 or so years ago. and i'm not about to put my own beliefs onto these characters that are not me. i'm going to let their choices speak for themselves, and interpret it in the context of the story.
all that said, this now brings me to the point of alastor in episode 5, and how viscerally people are responding to it. those of you up in arms about the choices he’s making, and the violent threat he gave husk, you’re missing the entire point of his character, of this place they’re in, of the story being told. he’s an overlord, and he became an overlord by killing much bigger overlords and broadcasting their deaths over the radio.
HE IS NOT A GOOD PERSON.
if you started this show with the belief that every character working the hotel is a good person, you’re in the wrong place. watch the good place if you’re looking for a good wholesome story about getting dead sinners into heaven, because that’s not what this show is about.
you’re more than welcome to hate him after seeing the way he exerted power over a being whose soul he owns, but you’re doing the media you’re watching a disservice by writing it off so quickly. if you don’t like to be uncomfortable watching media, watch something else. this is an uncomfortable show, it handles uncomfortable topics, and it’s going to be an uncomfortable ride, and if you’re not up for something like that, then you should take a break from it and pick up something else. you don’t have to get online and defend your own ideals while you watch a show that goes against your ideals.
#hazbin hotel spoilers#that’s not even touching on the fact that husk was an overlord too#he also owned souls that he used as currency to supply his gambling addiction#he’s also not a good person!!#the majority of these characters are in hell for a reason: they’re not good people#i quite frankly love the way this show blurs the lines between good and evil#our heroes are sinners and overlords and demons. while the enemies are angels. but that doesn’t mean our heroes are good people.#you HAAAVE to come to terms with that!! you have to stop seeing the world in black and white or you’re not going to survive this world#if you’re upset because alastor was cruel to husk fine! be upset! but explore why you’re taking yourself out of that world.#in this world sinners own other people. there’s no ifs ands or buts#‘oh alastor is a poc why would he own people’ he was a serial killer when he was alive do you really think you can apply your values to that#(and this is me speaking as a poc. specifically a mixed race poc.)#i cannot speak to who vivzie is as a person. but i’m interested in the message she’s writing and thus far i’m finding it compelling#it’s a similar story as the good place but it’s going the distance to explore even worse people than those in the good place#i don’t think it’s responsible to write something off just because unsavory things happen in it.#and she’s giving us so many different types of representation that don’t involve race (although we’re also getting a lot of hispanic rep)#just like cool your jets and maybe process some of the anger you’re feeling. and maybe nothing will change.#but if you act. instead of react. if you understand why you’re feeling some type of way and then make a choice.#that’s so much stronger and more responsible than reacting and not thinking anything through#hazbin hotel#alastor#husk#hazbin alastor#hazbin husk#anyway let me get off my soapbox#long post

the history of immigration in buenos aires is so goddamn interesting the early 20th century must've been such a strange moment to live in this city. over 50% of the population was immigrant, and from all over. and they both took from the local culture and added to it. my grandma (armenian but born here in the 30s) developed a taste for tango from her neighbours who were second generation english (older immigration). my dad grew up in the 60s with a galician-uruguayan mother and a canarian grandpa, next to a huge italian family and an armenian family who raised goats, and spent his childhood playing on the streets with the children of spaniards, italians, poles, irishmen. in the last thirty or so years my neighbourhood has become mostly a bolivian and peruvian neighbourhood but nowadays there's a lot of venezuelans and colombians, some senegalese people. you keep hearing people speak russian and ukranian on the streets. now. anyways, fascinating.

one thing i noticed looking back at the start of trimax volume 12... we get that whole sequence where Vash is standing at the precipice & thinking about his past
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'd like to draw attention to This bit:
Tumblr media
i didnt notice it when i first read it, but... that sleeve bit there? he's holding his arm. we don't get to see what he's actually thinking, but he's holding the bicep of his left arm - the arm he lost. considering he's standing in wait of Knives for their final battle, he's clearly remembering the time he lost it. to Knives.
(more notes under the cut)
he proceeds to think through the mistakes he's made and the people he's met... but something noteworthy that I find really interesting is that anime-only characters are present in the lineup.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
take these two pages.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's the sheriff lady and the rich dude from 98 episode 2
Tumblr media
the plant engineer from Lost July, episode 6
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the fake Vash the Stampede & Frank Marlon (not the other Marlon we meet in the manga, who's his grandson) from episode 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the boomerang guy (who is in the manga Technically, though we didnt see vash meet him) & the blonde gunman from episode 1. and the dancing girl & her guy friend from episode 11.
all "filler", supposedly, but Vash knows them. the implication of this being that Vash has had some amount of those adventures even in the manga (though the different Marlons makes that part a little more muddied - maybe he knew Frank Marlon in a similar way to the anime, though the girls couldn't have been there in this version if he's the current Marlon's grandfather).
also please just admire this pic of meryl and milly bc i love them so much
Tumblr media
anyways.
the spreads continue until we reach this iconic page:
Tumblr media
Vash went through his memories of all the people he met to steel himself for the battle to come, but these are the last two he thinks about. The two he arguably holds dearest in his heart, and the two whose losses hurt him the most. He remembers Rem as she was, smiling lovingly down at him. He remembers Wolfwood as he left him. Just a grave.
Their memory calms him. He's thinking of the reasons he's fighting, and they're the most important ones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bolstered by the memories of the people he loves and the mistakes he's made, he's ready to face his fate.

examining a seemingly normal image only to slowly realize the clear signs of AI generated art.... i know what you are... you cannot hide your true nature from me... go back where you came from... out of my sight with haste, wretched and vile husk
#BEGONE!!! *wizard beam blast leaving a black smoking crater in the middle of the tumblr dashboard*#I think another downside to everyone doing everything on phone apps on shitty tiny screens nowadays is the inability to really see details#of an image and thus its easier to share BLATANTLY fake things like.. even 'good' ai art has pretty obvious tells at this point#but especially MOST of it is not even 'good' and will have details that are clearly off or lines that dont make sense/uneven (like the imag#of a house interior and in the corner there's a cabinet and it has handles as if it has doors that open but there#are no actual doors visible. or both handles are slightly different shapes. So much stuff that looks 'normal' at first glance#but then you can clearly tell it's just added details with no intention or thought behind it. a pattern that starts and then just abruptly#doesn't go anywhere. etc. etc. )#the same thing with how YEARS ago when I followed more fashion type blogs on tumblr and 'colored hair' was a cool ''''New Thing''' instead#of being the norm now basically. and people would share photos of like ombre hair designs and stuff that were CLEARLY photoshop like#you could LITERally see the coloring outside of the lines. blurs of color that extend past the hair line to the rest of the image#or etc. But people would just share them regardless and comment like 'omg i wish I could do this to my hair!' or 'hair goallzzzz!! i#wonder what salon they went to !!' which would make me want to scream and correct them everytime ( i did not lol)#hhhhhhggh... literally view the image on anything close to a full sized screen and You Will SEe#I don't know why it's such a pet peeve of mine. I think just as always I'm obsessed with the reality and truth of things. most of the thing#that annoy me most about people are situations in which people are misinterpreting/misunderstanding how something works or having a misconc#eption about somehting thats easily provable as false or etc. etc. Even if it's harmless for some random woman on facebook to believe that#this AI generated image of a cat shaped coffee machine is actually a real product she could buy somewhere ... I still urgently#wish I could be like 'IT IS ALL AN ILLUSION. YOU SEE???? ITS NOT REALL!!!!! AAAAA' hjhjnj#Like those AI shoes that went around for a while with 1000000s of comments like 'omg LOVE these where can i get them!?' and it's like YOU#CANT!!! YOU CANT GET THEM!!! THEY DONT EXIST!!! THE EYELETS DONT EVEN LINE UP THE SHOES DONT EVEN#MATCH THE PATTERNS ARE GIBBERISH!! HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THEY ARE NOT REAL!??!!' *sobbing in the rain like in some drama movie*#Sorry I'm a pedantic hater who loves truth and accuracy of interpretation and collecting information lol#I think moreso the lacking of context? Like for example I find the enneagram interesting but I nearly ALWAYS preface any talking about it#with ''and I know this is not scientifically accurate it's just an interesting system humans invented to classify ourselve and our traits#and I find it sociologically fascinating the same way I find religion fascinating'. If someone presented personality typing information wit#out that sort of context or was purporting that enneagram types are like 100% solid scientific truth and people should be classified by the#unquestionaingly in daily life or something then.. yeah fuck that. If these images had like disclaimers BIG in the image description somewh#re like 'this is not a real thing it's just an AI generated image I made up' then fine. I still largely disagree with the ethics behind AI#art but at least it's informed. It's the fact that people just post images w/o context or beleive a falsehood about it.. then its aAAAAAA

i do find the difference between jpop/kpop showcasing people who didn't necessarily have the most raw talent to begin with openly working hard to become better singers or dancers vs the western, and specifically US obsession with acting like the only real talents are the ones who were "born" with it from day dot interesting.

Genuinely, out of good faith, I am curious. Does this mean you'd prefer no alternative interpretations of art you make?
depends on the art! some of my pieces are up for any interpretation, but i just get very frustrated when people refuse to consider the possibility that my objectum art is very literal. i would probably be fine with it if objectum sexuality were more well-known or if people tried to understand my art more honestly.
i just have so many pieces of art about being objectum where people are embracing objects in a very affectionate way and it's sort of disheartening to see people brush past those very clear parts of my work. sort of similar to how people who make art of unorthodox subjects in unusual ways usually get comments like "woah the artist was probably on drugs for this" when it's a clear and honest expression of someone's life or personality. so yeah i like interpretations. but i also would like it if more people appreciated intention, you know?

An original story i wrote for my english class way back when. It's dark (like all of my original fiction for SOME FUCKING REASON????? i guess im an angst connoisseur......???) so please heed the tags before reading to the end!!
i find nuclear power so ungodly interesting so its a damn shame i couldn't use it here. coal power plants generally use the same system minus the radioactive fuel though so i think its worthy of a mention.
reader beware, but please enjoy
Title: 17/11/██
-----
I don’t know how I should start this. Does it even matter at this point?
I’m not sure what else I can do. The Walls scare me and I want to go home.
I guess I should start at the beginning if this is going to be my last work.
If anyone will ever read this in the first place;
This whole situation, the horror I’m trapped in right now, all of this is my brother’s fault. We had been sneaking out to meet our girlfriends at the time, Oh god marie, I’m so sorry. I hope I will be alive to see you again. and decided it might be fun to have a test of courage in the abandoned power plant just a stretch into the forest by our meeting place. Which twin had the fortitude to explore the old building, we wondered. I was certain it had to be me– though Dallas thought otherwise and was confident in his strength of mind. It was an amateur writer versus a “detective in training”, so he likes to call himself. If my brother were here, I wonder how sane he would be able to stay? Perhaps I, myself, have stumbled upon the true test of courage in his absence. Even despite our disagreement I couldn’t wish this fate on him or on anyone, really.
Unknowing of what awaited us, we threw ourselves into the dark with gusto.
We began our journey in the metal cylinder’s room. Small windows near the ceiling let in the moonlight and hinted at the size of the room, but nothing could prepare us for the sheer scale of it. Our flashlights darted around the wide open space, and we could hear the echo of our footsteps as we explored. In the middle of this expanse, our lights hit a massive enclosed structure– the sides metallic and rusted.
“You should peek inside. There may be a monster waiting for you to come give it a kiss!” I teased my brother, knocking on the loose door. He laughed alongside me and agreed, pushing it open though his hands shook. As his flashlight lit up that small room, we saw the titular device I have named the room after. Forgive me for my ignorance as to the proper names for many of these locations and devices. I’m not somewhere where I could access this information– even if I wished to. It was a grand cylinder with lines engraved down the sides, stretching across several of those enclosings. This machine, bizarre yet harmless as it was, seemed to frighten my brother and so he quickly shoved the door closed again.
“Not to worry,” he joked– trying to cover up the way his eyes shook, “I gave that monster quite the smooch. She enjoyed it well.”
The air got colder the deeper we descended. Each hallway we traversed was lined with hundreds of pipes, trailing off into the darkness as our light was swallowed by the distance. The more my brother shivered, the more confident I became about my superiority in this little contest of ours. I was so sure of myself that I ignored the warning signs; the shifting beneath the ground, the dread slithering round and round those everlasting hallways.
At last, we reached the basement. The air was silent as death, the rest of life cut away from those isolated depths like an amputated limb. It was so quiet I felt as if I could hear a breath from a mile away. My brother stopped us there, grabbing me by the shoulders with his clammy palms.
“We can’t continue. Something’s… not well with this place.” he told me earnestly, but my ignorance was boundless. I laughed, spittle flying into the damp air,
“You’re quitting already? So much for that detective work, then?” Even now I can clearly remember the expression he made; it’s burned into my mind with all the clarity of a photograph. The furrow of his brows, the disbelief that bloomed across his face as he realized my foolishness, the frustration he must have felt, I understand it all clearly now. He shook me, clenching my shoulders tighter than he ever had before.
“You must be joking! Can’t you feel it? Everything feels wrong. This entire building is poisoned!” Dallas’ voice cracked harshly as he spoke with all the fervor of a wild animal.
All my blinded eyes could comprehend at that moment, however, was a coward.
In my folly I only saw the cornered dog, not the shadow looming over it.
“If you’re so scared you can run on back to your girl. Tell her your brother’s infallible will isn’t to be trifled with.” I had taunted.
“That’s not the point! God, it’s always the smartass with you, isn’t it? Think outside of your bloated ego for one second, for heaven’s sake.” he cried.
“If you want to leave, then just leave! I won’t stop you.”
Finally, he exploded.
“You arrogant prick! Fine, see what I care if you get yourself killed. Have fun with that courage of yours when you’re dead.” He shouted, turning around and marching away.
“Fine by me!” I’d called after him, before I was alone again in the silent dark.
Harumphing, my anger fueled me to plunge deeper into the basement. It was harder to face alone than with my brother.
The pipes looked like worms burrowing into the flesh of the building. At once I came across what seemed to be a shallow pool of water, stretching endlessly into that room.
My self-righteousness drained away by the cold, I kicked at the water sullenly. The water was warm.
Warmer than anything else in that chilly, dilapidated horrorshow. My instincts, once dormant, now awakened violently to the inherent evil of that place and sent me reeling backwards. All the signs had hit me at once. I had only understood the true nature of my situation when I was already in the mouth of the beast. Something reached out from that water and grasped my leg, and then I knew nothing.
When I awoke, I was here. I will attempt to describe this hell I am stuck in, though I feel my words will lack the depth of color to make you understand.
I woke up on a warm smooth surface, the heat of the room was quite pleasant in comparison to the freezing world I had left behind. The room was pitch black, so I felt my way across the room. Wall to wall, edge to edge, the walls were filled with warmth and the surface was without a scratch. The floor pulsated with an odd familiar rhythm, and as I searched for an exit I found myself enclosed within those six walls. A glass box with no escape. Whilst I fumbled around in the dark, my foot discovered my only other company, a pen and a stack of papers. As my eyes slowly adjusted to the dark, I finally understood where I was trapped, or to be exact, what I was trapped in. The first thing I noticed were the eyes. Hundreds of eyes, all staring at me from outside that glass box. Second, it was the viscera pressed against every single wall, pulsating to the rhythm of a heartbeat. Hair was curled within that flesh, ingrown and putrid. Lastly, I noticed the teeth, barely attached to the squishy meat they were embedded in, surrounding cavernous tunnels that breathed against my enclosure.
I nearly threw up. Once my realization had passed, I tried to use the paper to cover up those horrible sights– to stop those disgusting eyes from watching me. No matter how much paper I used, though, it never seemed to run out. A boon, I suppose, from the one who trapped me in this infernal purgatory. I use that pen and paper to write to you now, if anyone will read this at all. This cage of mine, or perhaps I should call it my last line of defense as without it I don’t know what the creature outside would do to me, contains finite air. I only have so long before I will run out. I can only hope someone will rescue me before that happens. Maybe an early death will save me from going well and truly insane here.
I’m scared.
I don’t want to die.
I’m sorry, Dallas.
Please come save me soon.

This letter was recovered next to the emaciated corpse of ████ ███, a young man who had gone missing two months prior. His brother, Dallas ███, had reported the disappearance the day of, dated 17/11/ ██. The police had searched the ████ coal power plant that night but no one was found. Recently, people complained of a foul smell coming from within the power plant and the place was excavated. This was when the body was discovered alongside the papers. These have been transcribed as accurately as possible for posterity.

tbqh it's weird as hell to me that there's this given understanding about fictional aliens that they'd be surprised or confused by adaptability, but like, as far as we know and understand that is a fundamental quality of life itself not life on earth. In order to become a spacefaring species any spacefaring alien would've had to survive whatever space threw at them for billions of years as well as whatever their planet in specific threw at them, even the 'good' planet we know about is pretty fucking hostile to life. It's just implausible to me that like, among all the possible sapient species we'd be unique or interesting for the level to which we have the ability to adapt to situations, something that any biological creature of any origin would also need to survive long enough as a species to figure out how space works.

it's crazy to me that everyone keeps saying the people at the archive are sooo nice because I kind of fucking hated it there. oh the people I found so unpleasant to be around that I started taking walks in the rain during my lunch break at 8°C in November so I didn't have to be inside? yeah haha (gritted teeth)
