It started off like any other day. Everything felt normal when you woke up, you and Chan had kissed goodbye like you did every single day before work and everything had been as it should have.
The usual hum of the office buzzed around you, and you sat at your desk with a smile, still laughing with your colleagues about a ridiculous moment that happened during the morning meeting.
“I can’t believe he actually said that,” you chuckled, glancing at your friend across the desk. You couldn't believe one of the interns had taken over the meeting after your boss had left, acting as though he'd know exactly what he was talking about... newsflash...he didn't.
“Does he even know what ‘synergy’ means?” you giggled a little and your friend, Sarah, shook her head, trying to keep her laughter under control.
“He’s just throwing words around to sound smart. I thought we were all going to lose it when he started talking about optimizing our optimized optimizations.” The two of you burst into laughter again, drawing curious glances from the people nearby, glares soon followed and you rolled your eyes. It was one of those lighthearted mornings—work felt manageable, and the little stresses of life were nowhere to be found.
Even your secret life with Chan didn’t feel overwhelming today, sometimes it felt hard to hide that part of your life from everyone you knew at work. But for nearly four years, you had both kept your relationship perfectly hidden, enjoying your time together away from prying eyes. You didn't care that you had to hide it, you understood why since life with an idol wasn't going to be all it was made out to be in the fanfictions you sometimes found yourself reading.
"Poor thing, maybe we should invite him to lunch though, just so we don't make him feel isolated," you told her as she nodded along with you. The last thing you wanted was to be mean to someone who clearly was trying his best here.
Soon the laughter died down, and you leaned back in your chair, reaching for your coffee. It was still warm—just the way you liked it. Everything felt routine. Normal.
But normal didn’t last.
Your phone, sitting innocuously beside your keyboard, buzzed once. Then again. And again. It wasn't like you to get so many notifications unless your friend was off from work and spammed you with reels so you bit down on your lip. You weren't exactly allowed your phone out so you glanced at it briefly, expecting a couple of messages from Chan or maybe a group chat blowing up. But the notifications were relentless.
Your brow furrowed as you picked up the phone. Your heart skipped a beat when you saw the flood of messages—dozens of notifications on social media, texts from unknown numbers, and even missed calls. Confusion turned to panic as you scrolled through the chaos, trying to make sense of it all.
“What’s wrong?” Sarah asked, noticing the sudden change in your expression. Before you could answer, another notification popped up on your screen—a tagged post from one of Chan’s members. Your stomach dropped as you read the caption:
CHANGBIN(jutdwae): "Congratulations on four years! You two deserve all the happiness."
You blinked, reading it again to make sure you weren’t imagining things. Not only was there the captain and tag of your Instagram there were countless images of you and Chan together.
No, this couldn’t be happening. It had to be a mistake. But the fans knew. They had pieced it together. The relationship you had kept under wraps for years was now out there for the world to see.
Your phone was going insane and there was no way you were going to be able to get into contact with Chan at this rate so you slid the phone into DND mode.
“I—uh, I have to go,” you mumbled, standing up from your desk, but your legs felt weak, your mind racing. There was no way this was happening, Changbin was usually more careful than this. What was he thinking?!
Your coworkers had started to murmur, glancing at their own phones, probably seeing the same posts and comments. Some of them gave you sympathetic looks, others were confused, staring at you to make sure that you were the person you claimed to be.
"Yn, wait." Sarah sounded panicked as she walked with you, holding your lower back as she shook her head at you,
"What's wrong-" That’s when you noticed it. Outside, through the wide office windows, a crowd had gathered. A large one. The people were holding their phones, taking pictures, pointing. You could hear the muffled sounds of their voices growing louder.
Oh no.
“Y/N, talk to me...What’s going on?” Sarah asked, standing beside you, worry etched into her features. You swallowed the lump in your throat, Sarah knew you were seeing someone you couldn't talk about...someone well-known in the media but she'd respected you when you couldn't tell her who.
“Fans,” you whispered, unable to tear your eyes away from the window. You had no idea how you were even going to get out of there with that mess building up outside.
“They know. About me and Chan.” Sarah’s eyes widened in shock at the name. She opened her mouth to say something, but the words were drowned out by the sudden realization that the fans weren’t just outside—they were here for you and clearly weren't just going to walk away anytime soon.
Your phone rang suddenly, startling you out of your daze. It was Chan. Thanks to him being in your favourites he was the only number able to get through to you,
“Y/N! Are you okay? I’m so, so sorry. I swear we’re trying to fix this,” his voice was panicked, almost breathless. You knew his management were going to do everything that they could to make this all go away but you were still stuck,
“I’m at work, Chan,” you whispered, struggling to stay calm. You knew how crazy people seemed to be when it came to idols but you had no idea it was going to end up like this,
“There are fans outside. How do they even know where I am?” He cursed under his breath, and you could hear the tension in his voice. He said something to someone in the room before he bit down on his lap,
“Stay inside. Don’t go near them. I’m coming to get you.” He told you but you heard arguing on the other end of the line, Chan's voice raising as he yelled back at whoever was yelling at him.
"Chan..." you whispered, you already knew what he was going to say next. There was no way JYP was going to let him walk out of that building to come and save you.
“I’m at the company, but they’re not letting me leave. There’s media everywhere outside, and they won’t let me out,” he sounded helpless, something you weren’t used to hearing from him. Chan was always calm and composed, but now he was frantic, desperate to fix this. You hated that he was in this mess right now and you weren't right there to support him throughout it.
“I know you've got shit to deal with...B-But Chan, I don’t know what to do,” you admitted quietly, your hand shaking as you pressed the phone to your ear. Tears were building up in your eyes at the thought of walking outside and being mobbed...What if one of them hurt you? You were sure STAY wouldn't but there were some fans just crazy enough to try,
“It’s really bad, Chan.” You whispered as you saw people banging on the windows and screaming. There were police doing what they could to disburse the crowd but it wasn't exactly something that was just going to go away with a snap of their fingers.
You could hear him pacing on the other end, muttering to himself, trying to figure out a solution.
“I’ll call someone. I’ll get you out of there. Just... just stay away from the windows. I’ll figure this out.” At that moment, your boss appeared beside you, his expression serious as he glanced out at the growing crowd outside the building.
"Chan, my boss is here..." You kept your eyes on your boss who seemed worried about all of this,
"Baby, I promise you I'm going to fix this...T-Text me...or something, please...Please," The desperation dripping from Chan's voice made your chest tighten,
"Sure...I will, baby, I gotta go...I'll be okay."You promised before ending the phone call. Your boss straightened his tie, Jason wasn't usually known for being overly caring about his employees but right now he looked worried for you. As did a lot of other people inside of the office,
“Y/N, we need to get you out of here. Follow me,” he said softly, motioning toward a side exit. You looked back at your desk—at the normalcy you had only moments ago—and then at the chaos outside. Your heart pounded as you nodded at your boss.
Your boss led you through a hallway toward the back exit, shielding you from the chaos outside.
"Sarah is going to go outside with a hood up, she'll distract them long enough for you to make it to the car." Your boss explained as he walked with you hurriedly toward the parking lot. A lot of the focus was on the front doors as screams erupted.
When you finally reached your car and made it home you figured all of this mess would be over. That you could hold up inside of the house and forget this whole thing had happened but as you pulled up it was clear that wasn't on the agenda for the night. You froze at the sight in front of you. Your apartment was swarming with people—fans, stalkers, media. They were everywhere. Cameras were shoved in your windows as people scrambled to get the smallest information about you from them.
You couldn’t go home. Your home was overtaken by fans who luckily hadn't noticed your car yet so you started driving and with trembling fingers, you called Chan again.
“I can’t go home,” you told him as you did your best not to cry. There was no way you could drive if you were crying. Chan's silence was deafening. You knew he felt responsible, that he was desperate to fix this, but there was nothing he could do right now.
“I’m getting you a hotel, no one will know okay?” Chan finally said. You could hear him typing on his laptop and you bit down on your lip at the thought of it. You were never going to have your normal life again,
“Stay there tonight. I’ll come to you first thing in the morning, I promise.” You nodded, even though he couldn’t see you. You trusted him—he would fix this. But for now, all you could do was hide away, waiting for the storm to pass.
"I love you, Channie." You whispered as you continued to drive aimlessly until he gave you the directions.
"I love you too, I'm going to sort this...I'm not going to let you get dragged down." He promised before sending you all of the details you were going to need.
"I've booked it under Patricia Kennedy, no one will trace it to us," He said as you smiled softly at the thought of using a fake name, like some kind of spy.
Tumblr media
Hours had passed, and even though the hotel room was silent, your mind was anything but. The dark curtains were drawn tight, shutting out the world outside, but it didn’t stop the gnawing anxiety in your chest. You had blocked the door with a chair, even though you knew it was overkill, but after everything that had happened today, you couldn’t help it. The thought of anyone else finding you made your skin crawl.
Your phone was still on DND and didn't dare try to see if you had phone calls from friends. All you knew was that your phone was close to death thanks to it overloading with numbers. You'd managed to private all of your social media accounts and uninstalled them to stop some of the notifications, and you'd tried to call your phone provider to block unknown numbers but there was too much for them to handle.
You sat curled up on the bed, your phone clutched tightly in your hand as you waited for Chan, he had called to tell you he was on his way, but time seemed to stretch, each minute dragging slower than the last. Even in the safety of the hotel, the fear refused to let go.
A knock came at the door, sharp and sudden.
Your heart jumped to your throat, and your grip tightened on the phone as you stared at the door. It was just a knock, but your body froze. What if it wasn’t him? What if someone had followed him here? What if—
“It’s me, baby. It’s Chan.” His voice came through the door, soft but certain.
“Please open the door.” You hesitated, your hand hovering over the door handle. A part of you was still scared, irrational thoughts swirling in your head. You couldn’t help it—the day had been too overwhelming, with too many eyes on you, and too much chaos.
"Yn, I promise, it’s just me. Please,” Chan’s voice was gentle but urgent, trying to calm your panic from the other side. He tapped on the door once again and you stared at the handle.
“I’m here now.” You exhaled shakily and, after a long pause, slowly removed the chair from the door and unlatched the lock. With trembling hands, you cracked the door open, just enough to peek out. The sight of Chan’s concerned face melted away some of your fear. He looked stressed and exhausted, his hair was in all kinds of directions and he looked unkept which wasn't like him at all,
“Hey,” he said softly, offering a small, reassuring smile. You stepped back and let him in, closing the door quickly behind him. As soon as the door shut, Chan’s arms were around you, pulling you into a tight, protective embrace. His familiar warmth was the only thing grounding you, and for the first time since the day started, you felt a tiny bit of safety. You hid your head in his neck and did your best not to cry, you didn't want to make him feel any worse than he already did about all of this,
“I’m sorry,” you mumbled against his chest, your voice barely a whisper. “I didn’t know if it was you.”
“Don’t be sorry,” he murmured into your hair, pressing a soft kiss to the top of your head. He stroked your back softly, he would have done the same thing if he was in your position.
“You’ve had a terrible day. I’m just glad I’m here now.” He gently pulled back to take a look around the room. His eyes landed on the tightly shut curtains, the chair you had used to block the door. His brow furrowed slightly, and you could see the worry etched in his face.
“You blocked the door?” he asked softly, though there was no judgment in his tone, only concern. You nodded, feeling a little embarrassed, you scratched the back of your neck as you glanced over at him.
“I didn’t want anyone getting in.” Chan reached out, pulling you back into his arms as if he could protect you from everything. There were already plans in motion to get a guard for you, there were some stationed all over the hotel as he stood there.
“You don’t have to worry about that anymore,” he whispered. “No one’s getting in here but me. I promise.” You leaned into him, letting out a shaky breath.
“I feel like I can’t breathe. Every time I think it’s over, it’s just... not.”
“I know,” Chan said softly, rubbing gentle circles on your back. The two of you had hidden for four years, and this was something you'd talked about but nothing could have prepared you for it,
“But we’re going to fix this. I’m going to fix this. You shouldn’t have to go through this, not because of me.” You pulled back slightly to look up at him, his expression filled with guilt. You shook your head at him and touched his face softly, running your thumb along his skin.
“It’s not your fault, Chan.” He shook his head, his jaw clenched. He'd already fought with Changbin about it and apologised for it, he knew that accidents happened but he'd been stressed and took it out on the younger member.
“I should’ve been more careful. We’ve kept this a secret for so long, and now—”
“No,” you cut him off, shaking your head. “This isn’t on you. It’s just... an accident. It’s no one’s fault.” Chan’s eyes softened as he cupped your face gently, his thumb brushing against your cheek.
“I’ll do whatever it takes to make this right,” he promised.
“I don’t care how long it takes. I’ll protect you, okay? I’ll keep you safe.” Tears welled in your eyes, but they weren’t from fear anymore. You knew Chan would do everything within his power - and more - to protect you, you had no doubt in your mind.
“I know,” you whispered, leaning into his touch. “I trust you.” Chan pulled you into another hug, holding you close as if he could shield you from the world outside. And for now, in the quiet of the hotel room, that was enough.
Tumblr media
Days passed after the chaos of the leak, and things slowly began to settle. The initial frenzy had been overwhelming, but JYP Entertainment had stepped in, issuing a statement about the mistake, and calling for fans to respect your privacy. The company took legal action against those who crossed the line, and while the attention hadn’t completely disappeared, it was manageable now. Your numbers had been changed and you'd managed to delete most of the followers who were fans in your social media accounts.
Chan had kept his promise. He had stayed with you every step of the way, ensuring you were never left alone to deal with the aftermath. You spent a few days holed up in the hotel together, the world feeling small but safe as long as you were by his side. You mostly lived in his shirts and off room-serive which had been more fun than you'd been expecting.
One morning, you both sat on the hotel room bed, the soft glow of sunlight peeking through the curtains. The two of you were quiet, sipping on coffee, the stillness a welcome change from the chaos you had endured. It almost felt normal again.
“Are you ready to go home today?” Chan asked, glancing at you with a hopeful smile. You nodded, taking a deep breath, you'd been wanting to stay longer but only because you were enjoying being so close to him.
“Yeah. I think I’m ready.”
“Good,” he said softly.
“I know it's been a lot, but we made it through. I knew we would...” He ran his fingers over your skin softly and you smiled. You looked at him, really looked at him—his face filled with determination and love, he looked better than he did when he first arrived here. Even though things had spiralled out of control, you couldn’t imagine going through this without him by your side.
“I couldn’t have done this without you,” you admitted. “You kept me sane.” Chan smiled warmly, setting his coffee cup down before reaching out to take your hand in his.
“We’re in this together, always. Nothing’s going to change that.” You squeezed his hand, feeling the truth in his words. After everything, you knew your relationship was stronger than ever. The world might have learned your secret, but it hadn’t broken what you had—it had only made you closer.
As the two of you stood, getting ready to head back home, Chan paused and turned to face you.
"I love you...okay? Them knowing, changes nothing. I promise you that we'll get into a routine," He told you as he pulled you into his arms and kissed you softly.
"I know baby, I love you too." You wrapped your arms around him and he backed you up toward the bed again making you giggle.
"Maybe we can spend a few more hours locked away though," He whispered in your ear.

hi mother i love ur writing !!! i was just wondering if you could write something with any ship that has james in it, where they're proud of reader bc she cleaned her room? i have really bad adhd and im cleaning it rn and im pretty proud of myself :) anyways its okay if not ! i love youuu !!!
thanks for your request, lovie (and congrats on cleaning your room!!!) here's a little baby blurb for you <3
marauders x roommate!reader who cleaned her room [500 words]
CW: platonic but could be read as something else, fem!reader, hints at non-platonic feelings but nothing outward
“One second, I’ll ask.” James says before he’s knocking on your bedroom door.
You had hardly raised your head to answer before he was pushing open the door door, his knock unanswered.
“Hey angel! Sirius and Remus are wondering if we want them to pick up- OH MY GOD!” He cut himself off, shouting as he looked around your room in…horror?
No, he was looking around your room in shock.
“What!?” You could hear Sirius shout from the other end of the line; a conversation that James had seemingly abandoned as he stared around your space.
“What did you do?” James asked you breathlessly; finally moving his disbelieving stare from your belongings to yourself.
You suddenly felt horribly aware of yourself. You’d been cleaning all day; you had moved every piece of furniture and hoovered underneath and behind them, you had sorted out your closet and dresser, and you had finally organised the things that you had stashed under your bed to ‘deal with later’.
All this to say: you were sweaty, likely dirty, and you were sure your hair was in a right state.
“James what the hell is going on!? Is everything okay!?” Sirius’ muffled voice shouted from James’ phone.
“James, you’re giving Sirius a fright.” You chided instead of drawing more attention to yourself.
James seemed to remember himself at that and brought the phone back up to his ear. “Sorry, sorry. What was that, Pads?”
Sirius’ response was quieter than before, but you could tell by the tone of his voice that he was still worked up.
“No, no. Sorry, everyone is fine. It’s just…bloody hell Pads, she cleaned her room!”
Another hot flash of embarrassment surged through you.
“It wasn’t that bad.” You mumbled as you folded your last shirt.
“Of course it wasn’t, angel. That’s not what I meant.” James offered; significantly softening at your worried expression. “I just know this had been on your list for a long while, and I also know how fucking hard this must have been.”
You hardly had a moment to wave him off before you heard Sirius shout “we want to see!” from the other end of the line.
Protests meeting deaf ears - because it apparently didn’t matter that they’d be home in a measly half hour - James was quickly turning the call into a facetime and pointing the camera around your room.
“Oh my god!” Sirius echoed James’ earlier sentiments.
“It looks great, dovey!” Remus chimed in. “You must have been in there all day!”
“It looks amazing.” James agreed quickly, bending over to survey under your bed. “Think you can do mine next?”
“Prongs!” Remus was quick to admonish. “No, she’s done quite enough for the day I’d say.”
“Forget I asked anything Prongs; we are getting pizza and we are celebrating.” Sirius decided.
“We don’t need to celebrate the fact that I cleaned my room, you sods.” You scolded.
“Oi.” Sirius called with faux severity. “Let us celebrate our sweet girl if we so please.”
“We should get a cake, too.” You heard him add as he and James ended the call.
“It looks really good, angel.” James repeated; no longer looking around your room in awe, but rather at you with a peculiarly soft expression.
“Thank you Jamie.”
James spent a moment longer smiling at you before he was turning to leave your room. “I’ll set up the living room for us. What movie do you want to watch? Don’t answer that; I already know!”

you hadn't realized you had even been affected by the curse that hit you earlier until you were on the way to the academy. it was a strange sort of descent to suddenly have your skin feverishly warm and a white hot need coiling deep in your gut. you were practically shaking by the time you reached jujustu high.
you stumbled towards your dorm, ignoring the way any sort of friction against your core made you want to whimper like a cat in heat. your underwear was well on the way of being utterly soaked and your foggy brain couldn't even bother to care.
"you okay, [name]?" yuji asked, his sturdy hand wrapping around your waist when your knees started to buckle. you bit your tongue hard enough to draw small drops of blood to prevent the needy sigh from escaping your lips. he was so strong and he was so sweet, his gentle smile making you wish it was between your thighs.
"i'm fine...just exhausted." you managed to grit out, unable to disguise the thick strain on your voice. maybe you were going insane, because why else would you be feeling this...horny?
"i'd wager you're more than exhausted." megumi piped in, his intense stare sending electricity straight to your core. he walked forward, with nobara not far behind, his mouth in a set line. he continued, "you are being affected by an aphrodisiac inflicted by an incubus."
nobara gave you a sneaky smile coming closer and sliding her arms around your waist and pulling you against your body. you couldn't help the whimper that you released when you felt her warm breath against your cheek.
"you horny, baby?" she purred, making your jaw drop slightly. oh, so she knows. you looked at her shyly, give her a little nod.
"that's what an aphro whatever does?" yuji asked, his chest still firmly pressed into your back. megumi nodded, his eyes darting between how you're sandwiched between nobara and yuji.
"h-how do i make it go away?" you piped up, internally cursing at the tone of your voice. it was thick with need, heavy with lust. maybe you should google how to bury oneself alive? that would be better than this embarrassing situation.
"you need to orgasm, at the very least once. but it will probably require quite a few tries." megumi explained, calmly as if he wasn't talking about his classmate cumming. before you knew it, you were sitting on megumi's bed. nobara and yuji must have led you to his room while he was talking.
"your arms are almost like jelly, honey." nobara noted, picking up your limp arm before letting it drop to your side, "why don't you let us take care of this for you?"
this time megumi, yuji, and you all paused. even through the gnawing desire to be railed you were still surprised at the suggestion. yuji's jaw dropped and megumi blushed, both of their reactions endearing if you were in a better state of mind.
"i have heard far too much about how both of these losers want to fuck you but are too wimpy to do anything. and i wouldn't mind making my girl feel good." nobara sat on the bed beside you and let her hands drift down your thighs. you shivered, parting them almost instinctively.
megumi shot nobara a glare like he was pissed his secret had been revealed and yuji gave you a sheepish smile. both boths came closer until everybody was sitting on the bed.
"you should still be in good conscious to consent." megumi said, his eyes burning into the spot where your legs were spread ever so slightly. your skirt was rising slightly, more of your skin revealed. "do you feel comfortable with this, [name]?"
suddenly you felt all pairs of eyes on you, making arousal seep into your underwear and rendering them positively destroyed. even with your body weak and full of animalistic need, you still had a mostly coherent thought process.
"please, yes please." you stuttered out, looking down at your lap with a shy expression.
nobara grinned deviously at your consent before pulling you onto her lap, pressing your back into her chest. she leaned in, her lips brushing against your neck and her hands drifting down your body.
"just relax, we're gonna make you feel real good." she said spreading your legs and lifting up your skirt to show off your underwear. normally you would be embarrassed that megumi and yuji were kneeling in front of you and staring directly at your cloth covered pussy. but you were far too gone to comprehend a single thing.
your underwear was fully soaked, a massive wet spot on them and the smell of your arousal wafting through the air. nobara kept kissing your neck, nibbling at the supple skin as her nimble fingers hooked around the waistband and slipped your underwear off.
your cunt was weeping for attention, puffy folds and twitching clit. your arousal was dripping down your legs, onto megumi's sheets. although he seemed too enthralled with your aching hole to care about the mess you were making.
a sharp gasp escaped your lips when nobara's fingers met your clit, rubbing it gently and in circular motions. as though their eyes had an invisible touch, the intense focus of both megumi and yuji added extra stimulation to your body.
"see this? this is like the key to the treasure chest." nobara said, still steadily rubbing that little bundle of nerves. you wiggled in her lap, trying to stop the embarrassing whimpers from escaping.
"does that feel good, [name]?" yuji asked, his hand suddenly reaching out to grab your thigh and keep you from wriggling out of nobara's hold. his touch was gentle but fuck was he strong.
you nodded and let out a little moan as nobara fingers slipped to your slit, collecting the wetness before teasing your hole. it eagerly tried to suck her digits in, aching to be filled.
"needy, are we?" megumi noted, the goregous rumble of his voice sending vibrations straight to your cunt. it clenched around nothing, showing off your horniness to your entire friend group. dear lord you were about to be fucked by all your friends.
finally nobara sunk her slender fingers in your cunt, the pads of her digits massaging the gummy walls. your toes curled and your back arched, a sigh of pleasure and relief filling the air like a lustful breeze. she grinned against your neck, going back to kissing you as she dipped her fingers in and out.
your pussy shamlessly gushed as she did this, loud enough you were sure the entire world could hear how well you were being fingered. not to mention the pretty little gasps and sighs that slipped between your parted lips.
"fuck," yuji grunted and your eyes fell from staring at the ceiling to him. his hand was cupping his massive bulge through his pants, his brown eyes blown out wide with lust. megumi wasn't fairing much better with a bright red face and parted lips he kept wetting.
"c'mon pretty girl, you gonna cum for me?" nobara purred, her free hand drifting from your waist to slipping under your shirt. she found your tits beneath your shirt and bra, rolling your hardened nipple between two of her digits.
your body suddenly tensed, walls clenching around her slender fingers as they curled right at the spongey point of pleasure. your cunt practically sucked her fingers in as it gushed around them. your jaw slightly dropped as your long wanton moan filled the room like a symphony of your pleasure.
"good girl." nobara praised while megumi and yuji stared at you with wide eyes. with a sudden shyness, you realized you might have been the first girl to have cum in front of them.
even with the orgasm you still felt that burn in your core and slick dripping down your thighs, like the needy whore you were. your mind was fuzzy with lust, pussy aching to be filled yet again.
"megumi, how about you fuck our princess?" nobara suggested, still rolling your senstive nub between her fingers as though to appease you while you waited, "and yuji, fill her mouth so she can't be too loud, yeah?"
the two boys agreed and suddenly you were being placed flat on the bed. your uniform was being stripped off by all three hands, leaving you naked and vulnerable soon.
megumi lifted your legs and spread them a bit more, you whining as the cool air brushed against your leaking cunt. he groaned softly, his raging hard on rubbed against your thigh.
he unzipped his pants enough for his cock to spring out, a pretty pink color with precum leaking out of the reddish tip. then he fixed your position, stroking his dick and rubbing the tip aganist your weeping slit. you whimpered, wriggling your hips like it would make it magically slip inside..
"shit," megumi hissed as he finally sunk his length into your pussy. you whined loudly as he finally filled you up, your back arching in attempts to get him deeper.
suddenly your eyes snapped upwards when you felt yuji's cockhead pressing into your lips. eagerly you parted them, tongue sticking out to lick the precum oozing out. yuji let out a soft sigh as you finally let him in, tongue exploring the large mass inside your mouth.
nobara wasn't feeling excluded at all it seemed, with the way her hands wandered to play with your tits. she smirked, watching the erotic scene unfold in front of her.
you felt almost like a ragdoll, getting fucked on both sides. megumi's thrusts were long and teasing, sliding almost all the way out before slamming all the way in again. whereas yuji was erratic and passionate, carelessly fucking your throat.
it was possibly the hottest and strangest situation you have ever found yourself in.
your moans were muffled by yuji's cock, mixed in with the soft gags of being filled up so entirely. everything felt so lewd, squelching of your cunt being hammered into by megumi and the slurps of you intently sucking yuji off.
nobara wasn't too upset about not getting "her turn" yet especially since she would prefer to have you get her off when it's just the two of you. she was patient...for now.
suddenly yuji stilled, then he kept thrusting into your mouth with jerky movements. "fuck! I'm gonna-"
a white hot liquid squirted into your mouth. It was salty and a little bitter but not terrible tasting. you swallowed up the pink haired boy's cum, some of it dribbling down your chin. once he was done he slowly pulled out, his cock softening slowly. yuji looked at you with wide eyes, almost like you showed him jennifer laurence not sucked him off
you squeaked suddenly, returning your attention to megumi who pinched your clit. he pouted at you, as though a little annoyed yuji had held your attention for so long.
you gave him a breathless smile in-between the sighs of pleasure at his cock hitting your sweet spot just right. you didn't even know something could be that deep inside of you and yet here he was, turning your tummy inside out with his dick.
"i want you to cum at the same time as me. can you do that for me, princess?" megumi said, speeding up his sensual pace. his hips snapped up to meet yours quicker now, his nimble fingers rolling and rubbing your sensitive nub in all the ways that made you certain you would explode.
with a final flick to your clit, you moaned his name and your walls squeezed around his cock. as thought triggered by your orgasm you felt his warm seed spurting inside your core, filling you up. he fucked you both through your highs, keeping his creamy cum inside your pussy.
a small whine fell from your sore throat at the empty feeling where megumi's dick used to be. however you felt that almost agonizing burn started to fade, satisfied by what you had been giving.
"aw baby." nobara cooed, gently petting the top of your unruly hair, "let us clean you up. you must be so tired from all that, yeah?"
you nodded slowly, allowing the boys to distangle from your body and allow nobara instruct them on how to clean you properly. you only started to drift off when you felt the trio cuddle around you, with nobara laying on your tummy, megumi spooning you from behind and yuji in the front. the warmth of your friends (with benefits?) coaxed your exhausted body to sleep.
hopefully you wouldn't have to ever think about the consequences of this....or at least until morning.

summary: you and will struggle with unspoken feelings for each other, navigating confusion, flirtation, and fear of ruining your friendship
warnings: somewhat based on 'why' by shawn mendes, uncommunicated feelings, angst a bit, takes place while will is still at bc, will & reader being dumb teens, happy ending!
word count: 2.28k
Friends milled around the living room, laughter filling the space, but Will's eyes constantly flickered toward you. You were curled up on the couch, your laughter echoing in the background as you laughed at something that Jacob said. The sight of you made his chest tighten like it always did.
Will leaned back against the wall, his fingers absentmindedly running through his hair as his gaze kept drifting back to you. It was like some invisible force always pulled his attention in your direction. The way your eyes lit up when you laughed, the subtle way you tilted your head when you listened intently, and that playful, teasing smile you wore so easily—it all hit him harder than he ever expected.
However, you made it so confusing for Will. Some days, you’d flirt with him relentlessly, drawing him in with sly comments and the way you’d casually touch his arm or laugh at his jokes. Other days, you acted completely indifferent, like he was just another guy in the room and saying ‘hi’ like you had just met him. It drove him crazy. He'd tried dating other girls, but none of them made his heart race like you did.
You weren’t like anyone he’d met before. There was an effortless ease about you, a confidence that threw him off-balance in the best way. You challenged him, made him laugh when he didn’t even realize he needed it, and lately, he couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to close the distance between you two.
Jacob said something else that made you throw your head back in laughter, and Will felt the familiar pang in his chest. This wasn’t just a surface-level attraction; it was deeper and more complicated than that. Whenever he was around you, the world felt a little lighter, like the weight he’d been carrying for months started to lift without him even noticing. His chest tightened again as he caught your eye across the room. For a split second, your gaze locked onto his, and the corners of your lips curved up in that teasing, knowing way you always had.
Will’s breath hitched. He knew that look. It was the same one that had his heart racing the first time you met, the same one that made him wonder if maybe—just maybe—there was something there. Something more than the easy friendship you shared. The air between you seemed heavy with unspoken possibilities, Will’s pulse quickening. But before he could even think about making a move, you turned away, continuing her conversation with Jacob like nothing had happened.
“You guys should just date already, y’know?” Gabe said, pulling Will’s attention back to the people around him that he had tuned out.
Will’s eyes flicked back and forth a couple times between Gabe and you, chuckling lightly. “Nah… I’m still not ready for anything serious.”
Will stiffened as his words came out, knowing it was a lie. He didn’t quite know why he couldn’t just admit that you’re all he wants.
“When do you think Will is gonna make a move on you?” Jacob said, catching you off guard.
You blinked at him, eyes flicking briefly to the blond who was talking to Gabe. “What are you talking about?”
“You guys flirt with each other like crazy and don’t think I haven’t noticed all the little looks you’ve been giving each other… it’s making me want to throw up.” Jacob said, sipping from his beer.
You chuckled, a little flustered by Jacob’s observation, but quickly masked it with a playful roll of your eyes. “We do not flirt that much. He’s just… Will.”
Jacob snorted a laugh, clearly unconvinced. “It’s obvious, you know? Everyone sees it. You two have this… thing. It's like you're both waiting for the other to make the first move."
You glanced over at Will again, the way he was laughing at something Gabe said, how his hand dragged through his hair like he always did when he was nervous. A familiar warmth spread through your chest, the same one that made you second-guess your every interaction with him. Sure, there was chemistry—undeniable, sometimes electric—but you’d kept it at arm’s length.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you said in a low voice, trying to shrug it off, but Jacob wasn’t having it.
He leaned in closer, lowering his voice. “Oh, come on. You’re not fooling anyone. Look at the way you’re staring at him right now.”
You once again pulled your eyes off Will, laughing it off, but in reality, your heart was racing. Although you didn’t want to admit it, what Jacob was saying was true. Will had gotten under your skin in a way no one else had. The two of you had always had this unspoken connection, this easy banter that somehow made everything feel lighter, yet you’d never crossed that line. You didn’t know why. Maybe it was fear, or maybe you were waiting for him to make the first move, unsure of how deep his feelings really ran.
“Okay, fine,” you finally sighed, unable to completely deny it anymore. “But… I don’t even know if he’s serious. One minute, he’s all charming and sweet, and the next, he acts like we’re just buddies. He’s so confusing.”
Jacob raised an eyebrow, looking skeptical. “Maybe you’re the one confusing him. You flirt, then pull away. That’s gotta mess with his head.”
You blinked, suddenly realizing that maybe Jacob was right. It wasn’t just Will being inconsistent—it was you too. Every time things started to feel real, you’d instinctively pull back, unsure if you were ready to risk turning your friendship into something more. The thought of losing him if things went wrong scared you more than you liked to admit.
Across the room, Will was watching you again. His smile had faded slightly as if sensing the shift in your mood, and for a moment, his gaze softened in a way that made your heart skip a beat. There was something there. You could feel it.
“Alright,” Jacob said, standing up with a stretch. “I’m just saying, you both clearly like each other. Someone’s gotta make a move sooner or later, or you’re gonna drive each other crazy.”
You opened your mouth to protest, but Jacob was already moving on, leaving you alone with your thoughts. You glanced at Will once more, and this time, he didn’t look away. His eyes lingered on yours, searching, questioning.
Your breath hitched, heart racing as you felt the weight of Will’s gaze on you. It was like the air in the room had suddenly thickened, making it harder to breathe. The conversation and laughter around you started to blur, becoming nothing more than background noise. You shifted uncomfortably, trying to dismiss the rising warmth creeping up your neck and the way your stomach fluttered every time Will glanced your way.
It was all too much—the teasing from Jacob, the weight of Will’s unspoken feelings, your own confusion and hesitation. The walls seemed to close in as you tried to push it all down, but it wasn’t working. You needed air.
You stood up, slipping quietly through the crowd, making your way to the front porch. The cool evening air hit your skin, offering a slight relief from the heat building inside you. You sat down on the steps, closing your eyes as you tried to calm the storm of emotions swirling within you.
What am I doing? you thought, your chest tightening as you replayed the moments with Will in your head. Jacob’s words echoed in your mind — We both clearly like each other. Someone’s gotta make a move sooner or later.
But it wasn’t that simple. Every time you got close to Will, it felt like you were teetering on the edge of something you weren’t sure you were ready for. You were terrified of the possibility that once you crossed that line, there would be no going back. What if things didn’t work out? What if you lost him, not just as a friend but as someone who had become such an important part of your life?
You took a shaky breath, rubbing your arms as the cool breeze swept across the porch. Maybe Jacob’s right, you thought, your mind racing. Maybe I’m the one messing things up. Maybe I’m the one who’s been too scared to take that step.
The door creaked open, interrupting your train of spiralling thoughts. You glanced over your shoulder to see who’d followed you out, spotting Will shutting the door behind him. Of course, it was Will.
“You okay?” he asked, his voice low, gentle, as if he could sense the turmoil inside you.
Will had watched you suddenly get up and walk out after talking to Jacob, a rush of worry running through him. You nodded, not trusting yourself to speak just yet. Will moved down to the steps, sitting beside you, your shoulders brushing as he sat. The contact sent a jolt through you, and you cursed yourself for how easily he affected you.
“I saw you slip out,” he continued, glancing at you out of the corner of his eye. “You seemed a little… overwhelmed.”
You forced a smile, though it didn’t quite reach your eyes. “Yeah, I just needed some air. It was getting a little… crowded in there.”
Will chuckled softly, but there was an underlying tension in his voice. “Yeah, I get that.” Will nodded.
He leaned back, looking up at the night sky that was speckled with bright stars. For a moment, the only sound was the faint laughter and chatter from inside, mingling with the rustle of the breeze through the trees. You both sat in that silence, but it was different from before—thicker, heavier with all the things you weren’t saying.
Normally, you’d have no problem with finding something to talk to Will about. But now, the pair of you sat in awkward silence, unsure of how to speak to each other now with realized feelings.
Will turned his head to look at you, his gaze softer now, searching. “What’s going on, really?” he asked, his voice quieter this time. “It feels like… I don’t know. Like something’s been off with us recently. And I don’t know about you, but it’s been driving me insane.”
Your breath caught in your throat at his words, and you turned to look at him, your heart pounding. Will was still staring at the sky, his jaw clenched, as if he was trying to find the right words.
“I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while now,” he admitted, his voice a little rough. “And I keep thinking… what if this is all just in my head? What if I’m reading things wrong? Because one minute, you’re flirting with me like crazy, and the next, you’re pulling away. And I don’t know what to think anymore.”
His words hit you hard, cutting through the confusion and defenses you’d built up. You swallowed, your mouth suddenly dry as you realized that he was just as uncertain as you were.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered, your voice barely audible. “I didn’t mean to confuse you. I just… I didn’t know how to handle it.”
Will finally turned to face you, his blue eyes locking onto yours with an intensity that made your heart skip a beat. “Handle what?”
You hesitated, the weight of the moment pressing down on you. But you couldn’t hold it in any longer. “How I feel about you.”
His eyes widened slightly, and for a second, you thought you’d said too much. Then, Will sat up, his posture straightening and brows furrowing.
“How do you feel?” he asked quietly, his voice steady but laced with vulnerability.
You took a deep breath, forcing yourself to be honest. “I… I like you, Will. I have for a while now. But I didn’t know what to do about it because I was scared. Scared of what happens if we try and it doesn’t work out. What if we ruin everything? I like having you in my life y’know?”
Will couldn’t help but chuckle, reaching out and taking your hand in his. The simple gesture sent warmth flooding through you, and for the first time in a long time, the uncertainty started to fade. “I like having you in my life too.”
You glanced down at his fingers that began to gently trace your knuckles. It sent a shiver down your spine, but you felt yourself relaxing.
“I feel the same way,” he continued. “I’ve liked you for so long, but I didn’t know if you were serious, or if it was all just… a game.”
You shook your head, your voice firm this time. “It’s not a game. I didn’t mean to mess with your head, Will. I just… I didn’t know how to deal with my own feelings.”
“You don’t have to be scared anymore,” he whispered. “I don’t want to be just your friend. I want more.”
Your heart pounded in your chest, the weight of his words sinking in. And in that moment, all the fear, the confusion, the hesitation melted away. “I want more too.”
Will’s hand moved to cup your cheek, his thumb brushing softly against your skin before he leaned in, closing the gap between you. His lips meet yours, soft and tentative at first, then more sure, more certain. All the tension, the frustration, the confusion melts away in that moment. When you pull back, breathless, you look into his eyes, seeing the same mixture of relief and affection reflected back at you.
“Guess we’re done pretending,” you murmur, a small smile tugging at your lips.
Will grins, brushing a strand of hair away from your face. “Yeah. No more games.”

“Kinda sucks that you gotta work tonight.” Robin’s voice through the phone pressed to Steve’s ear was staticky, but still provided a good distraction from the empty video store around him.
It was Valentine’s Day and Steve had been at Family Video since opening, watching couple after couple come in to pretty much clear the romcom shelves, and yeah, he was a little bummed about it, but there was no point moping around about it any longer than he already had been.
“It’s whatever, honestly. Not like I had any plans to begin with.” He sighed, shifting the receiver so it was wedged between his cheek and shoulder as his fingers drifted down to fiddle with the pen on the counter absentmindedly.
“Steve, that’s sad.” Robin replied. Steve wrinkled his nose, a slightly offended noise escaping the back of his throat. “No! I didn’t mean it like that, I just meant that you should be out and about, having a good time.”
“You know what’s actually sad? You talking to me instead of paying attention to your date.” He shot back, only half serious. “Where’s Nance?”
“Oh she’s right here. Say hi, Nance.”
Steve heard a faint ‘hi Steve’ in the background and he returned the greeting. “What are you guys doing tonight?”
“She made this really fancy pasta thing for dinner, we’re just waiting on the chicken to finish in the oven and I thought I’d see what was going on with you.” Robin sounded casual, but he knew this was her way of checking up on him since he was the only one on shift all day and she knew how he felt about today.
“Rob, I don’t know how many times I gotta tell you, but I’m fine. It’s really not a big deal.”
“Why don’t you just close up early, come join us for dinner? We have more than enough food.”
“You’re seriously inviting me to crash your romantic dinner date with your girlfriend?” He snorted, rolling his eyes playfully. “What does Nancy think of that?”
There was some shuffling on the other end, a bout of silence, then Robin was back on the line. “She’s giving me a weird look, nevermind. Now that I think about it, it wasn’t my best idea.”
“I love you both, but you know I can’t.”
The bell above the door jingled softly, drawing Steve’s attention away from his phone call and to whoever just walked in.
Shit. It was you.
You were dressed like you were supposed to be on your date, not here, hair and makeup done up all pretty, floaty dress in his favorite color swishing around your knees as you made your way into the store. It made him wonder if you chose that color on purpose, but he knew that you didn’t. You couldn’t have known you’d be seeing him tonight. Wishful thinking on his end though.
“Rob, I gotta go,” He blurted, straightening up behind the counter.
“Wait, what—”
“I gotta go, she’s—someone’s here, I gotta help her.”
“She? Oh my god, wait! Is it—”
“Have a nice date, tell Nance I said bye!” With that, Steve hung up, slamming the receiver onto the base with enough force to send it skittering a few inches. “Hey, Y/N.”
“Steve!” Your previously downturned lips lifted into a smile, one that had Steve’s heart thudding a little faster in his chest. It always did. “I didn’t know you were working tonight.”
See, you were also part of the reason he decided to take the extra shift today, but through no fault of your own. You’d mentioned earlier in the week while you were hanging out with him and Robin that someone had asked you out for tonight, and Steve didn’t really know how to feel about it.
You were friends, but had Steve been harboring a crush on you since pretty much the first day you met? Yes.
Did he feel an itching sense of jealousy that you were going on a date with someone that wasn’t him? Also yes.
Would he do anything about it? Probably not.
Okay, so maybe he knew exactly how he felt about it. Hell, he’d picked up an extra shift to distract himself from it.
“Yeah, I got called in last minute." A lie. "Aren’t you supposed to be on a date right now?” A casual, not at all hoping that it crashed and burned question. That would be mean. (But also a little gratifying for him.)
You chuckled, a tad bitter as you leaned forward, propping your elbows on the counter, the action sending a whiff of your perfume his way. Steve’s knees almost gave out. “Supposed to, yeah. But the guy never showed up.”
Steve had to fight a noise of surprise. What kind of dumbass would skip out on a date with you? “Really? That’s—that sucks, I’m sorry.”
“S’okay. Wasn’t really looking forward to it anyways.”
“Oh?”
“I didn’t really know him that well, honestly. He was a friend of a friend, asked me out in front of a bunch of people, and I didn’t really wanna turn him down and make it awkward.”
“You’re way too nice, Y/N. And he’s an idiot for standing you up.”
“Thanks, Steve.” You smiled warmly at him, patting his hand. Steve had to pretend his pulse wasn’t racing right now. “What about you? Why’re you here and not out with anyone?”
“I, uh—I didn’t really feel like going out tonight. Don’t think I’d be a very good date anyways.”
“Oh, you’re just being modest. What girl wouldn’t wanna spend Valentine’s Day with Steve Harrington?”
The one girl he wanted to spend this day with, he thought. You.
“You’d be surprised.” He muttered.
“Well then they’re idiots too.”
A small smile quirked his lips. “Thanks.”
“Hey, I just came to pick up some movies and spend the rest of my night shoveling down ice cream, but since we’re both here now and alone, d’you wanna…be alone together? Grab a bite to eat or do something?”
Steve’s shoulders slumped defeatedly. “I’d love to, but I—I can’t. I gotta stay here til the end of my shift, Keith’s been on my ass about taking off early and as much as I hate the guy, I don’t wanna get fired.”
“Oh, okay. Don’t worry about it, I’m, uh—it’s cool.” Was he hallucinating, or did you look disappointed?
“Would you maybe wanna, I dunno, stay here? We can watch whatever you want and I know where Robin keeps her work snack stash. That way we can be alone together and I don’t get chewed out again?” Steve blurted hopefully. He was honestly expecting you to say no. Why would you wanna spend the rest of your already shitty night with him in a dingy video store? But then your face split into the biggest smile and you nodded, rocking forward on the balls of your feet earnestly. “Go pick something out, I’ll grab the snacks.”
You scurried off to browse the near bare shelves, leaving Steve shaking his head amusedly in your wake as he watched you skim the tapes with a look of utmost concentration. He slipped into the back room to grab Robin’s last unopened bag of chips, making a mental note to buy more before tomorrow’s shift before returning to the video area.
He skimmed the store, spotting you in the romcom section, and when he made his way over, you were contemplating the last two tapes on the shelf.
You beamed at him upon spotting him. “Pretty in Pink or Sixteen Candles?”
“Am I allowed to say neither?”
“You said whatever I want, Steve.” You said pointedly, propping your hands on your hips.
“I did, didn’t I?” He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose between two fingers. You let out a hum of pleasure, sliding your chosen movie off the shelf and wandering towards the TV in the corner. Steve hurried after you quickly, plucking the tape from between your fingertips and running away, not unlike a child would.
“Steve!” You huffed, whirling on your heel. He grinned mischievously at you, waving it in the air like a taunt. You caught up with him within seconds, lunging for the tape that he held up above his head and away from your outstretched hand. Your body was pressed against his as you reached for it, as you leaned against him in a fruitless attempt to overpower him. “Steve, gimme the tape!”
“No!” He laughed, but that laughter very soon trickled off as soon as he realized your proximity. You were so close, he could see the color of your eyes clear as day, looking right back at him. You’d fallen quiet too, as if you’d come to the same realization.
You were nose to nose, faces a hair’s breadth away from each other, the stolen tape in Steve’s hands long forgotten. Every fiber in his body was telling him to pull away, because the longer he stayed here the weirder it would be when he finally did manage to retreat, but no matter how hard he willed himself to move, he couldn’t. Instead, his eyes flicked down to your lips. Your breath hitched almost imperceptibly.
“Steve?” You whispered, gaze darting around his own face.
“Yeah?”
“Kiss me.”
You didn’t have to tell him twice.
Steve dropped the tape immediately, closing the gap between you and pressing his lips against yours. His hands came up to cup your face, holding you firm but kissing you soft, like he was preparing himself to pull away if you did. But from the way you were returning his kiss, how your hands clutched at the front of his vest to keep him this close, it didn’t feel like you’d be pulling away anytime soon, and that spurred him on even more.
One hand slid down to settle at your waist, the other curling around the back of your neck as he tilted his head, deepening the kiss just a little bit.
Steve’s lips felt tingly when he pulled away, tasted of your cherry lip gloss when his tongue darted out to lick them. He was sure to have a little bit on his mouth now, but it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. Not by a long shot. Cherry might’ve just become his new favorite flavor.
“I really like you.” He breathed, chest heaving against yours. Your lips curved into a soft smile—the same smile that nearly sent Steve’s brain short circuiting every time it was aimed his way.
“After that kiss, I’d sure hope so,” You replied, smoothing out his wrinkled shirt as best you could. “I like you too, just so you know. Part of the reason I was so okay with my date ditching me. He wasn’t you.”
Steve could only beam at you, going in for another kiss. In his excitement, he missed his mark, hitting the corner of your mouth instead, but he didn’t care. The girl he wanted all along actually liked him back, and it only took one failed date and an extra shift to find out.
Maybe working on Valentine’s Day wasn’t so bad after all.

He's finally done I think. WOAW! Radio demon time!!!
Tumblr media
Okay time for comparison + breakdown rant ^ - ^ another SUPER long one I had a lot to say about this silly guy
Tumblr media
ALRIGHT. So. Atp all that can be said has been said about Alastor but I'll gloss over it anyhow. Grossly historically inaccurate hair and clothing. Invisible deer theming. One of the main reasons he's got one of the most clowned on designs in the show is bc he's a pretty good representation of the worst it has to offer. He's absurdly red and has the waspiest waist in town. Also gotta zero in on the coat for a second bc I find it incredibly stupid that he went to that tailor bc of his coat being ripped and then left the shop with the exact same torn coat on oh goddd that felt like a complete joke who wrote this
Also his "redesign" was pointless. He stayed pretty much entirely the same except his colors got pinker and grosser and now he has this?? White trim on his lapels??? Even less 1930's accurate and it only serves to hurt the pallate in my eyes. It's the only spot of white on his entire design, it doesn't appear anywhere else so it throws it all off. And it's so bright. Is it supposed to be a focal point?? His tits????
Anyways onto my guy who I love so very deeply. I'm pretty sure sepia film was outdated by the 1930s but I gave him a palette inspired by it to emphasize how dated and stuck in old ways he is. Added blood red accents bc. Well. Cannibal murderer. Also bc I redid the sin colors so red is wrath and it seems like a fitting sin to pair him with.
After looking into 1930's men's fashion a tiny bit (thanks anon, this video was helpful!) and gave him a double breasted coat but wider and pointier so he looks a little less like just some normal guy and really emphasize how prideful and egotistical he is. "Ooo look at me I'm super big and imposing and powerfulll". I think it's a fun character trait of his. Definitely keeping it.
I liked him wearing gloves bc I feel like he wouldn't like getting his hands directly dirty and would always be covered when committing his murders. Maybe he's a germaphobe even. "I can excuse murder but I draw the line at dried blood on my skin". Also the gloves being white would contrast really well with blood so. Love that
I gave him a long tie to free him from the Vivziepop bow tie uniform and a fedora to add to the 1930's vibe and serve as something that can occasionally obscure his face in shadow. His glasses are also opaque and I imagine his eyes would rarely be shown if ever to make him seem more inhuman and off-putting, disconnecting him from personhood a bit. Wanted to add to that with his smiling mouth never opening and just being a static grin that can only occasionally widen or lessen, his voice cracking out of his "speaker" with fuzzy radio static. Seen multiple ppl use that idea and it always eats
I love Alastor's silly theatric nature (primarily in the pilot) and I'd probably keep it, but I'd add a layer of uncanny-ness to him where when he's not putting on his silly jovial facade, he gives off an unnerving vibe. Trying to appear approachable and charming and pleasant to lure people in before he's revealed to be less than human. Loveee thattt
I love Alastor being a deer. Predator becoming prey (animal) + "prey animal" lulling people into a false sense of security before striking. Love it. We should be CAPITALIZING ON IT❗So I gave him deer like legs, visible deer hooves, and more readable deer ears + the ham radio tower antenna antlers (sorry 4 calling them horns 💀)
Tried to make it a little more obvious that he's a mixed man of color by giving him dark wavy hair and the faintest hint of lip definition Viv uses in her style. I think it works. He's still not dark skinned tho
LASTLY the mic. Also not an original idea as I've seen tons of others turn it into a carbon mic but turned into a pentagram shape and I love the idea a lotttt so I joined the crew.
AND THAT DOES IT!!!! hope u like him as much as I do hehe. Just 1 supplemental doodle this time sorry :/ showing off how his face is probably obscured most of the time. He's. So hard to draw. I'm just bad at men but I'm tryinggggg guys
Tumblr media
Alsoooo I've already finished the drawings for Niffty, Angel, and Husk! Once I've finished their breakdowns I'll add em right to the queue, and then I'll make a post with all of the main 6 together :3

tattoo artist kaeya having a thing for u, his regular client rosaria's cute little roommate, who is the exact opposite of her. he feels bad for fantasied a lot to the thoughts of u but he can't help himself bc he likes u so much
God I love tattoo kaeya so much actually I'm grrrr im also. i love jerking off idk how to explain it so there is smut in addition to kaeya being. god he likes you so much also reader is g/n
Tumblr media
When Rosaria introduced him to a new client he didn't think much of it. He's tattooed a good amount of her friends and being someone who didn't shy away from any challenge meant he got a wide variety of customers wanting his ink on their skin.
As soon as you came through those doors he found himself much more distracted than usual, asking you a lot more casual questions as his intake session felt more like a friend, rather than a consult.
You didn't seem to mind, laughing and smiling as he talks to you and he's a little obsessed with it. He finds himself subconsciously flexing for you, trying to show off his sleeve or peeks of his back or chest pieces somehow. He doesn't miss the way your eyes wander just the slightest bit, thinking you've taken the bait until you make a very normal comment about how his tattoo looks so pretty and that he must have dedicated a lot of time to it.
He did, but he wants to start devoting that energy to you even though he barely knows you.
He works hard to try and design the perfect tattoo for you. To him, your body is so perfect he's so honored to paint it. He wants to bring out more of its beauty, obsessed with how shy and innocent you seemed standing next to Rosaria.
You were barely able to talk to him alone, needing her to stand with you as he talked to you. You seemed to be able to hold your own but the second she turned to do something on her phone you got even quieter, holding back until she came back.
He wants to have you all to himself, hoping that the next time he sees you Rosaria will be too busy to come with you. Maybe he'll ask you out, invite you for coffee or dinner on his dime and spoil you the way you should be.
Kaeya's mind wanders as he sketches, the lamplight bathing the lines of his pen as they twist and turn into something much lewder than he realised. The second he sees the figure on his book he slams it shut, not new to lewd tattoos but it draws attention to his cock straining at his sweats. He hadn't even noticed it until now, leaning back in his chair as he pulls the waist of his pants down to reveal his throbbing need.
He's glad he's in the privacy of his own home, biting his lip as he tries to ignore how badly he wants you. He shouldn't be doing this to you, not someone who was so sweet and kind. He should try to take you out first, put himself out there in front of you and see if you'll accept him.
Instead, he's sitting at his desk biting back barely concealed moans as his hand runs up and down his shaft. He can remember the way your warmth felt against him - you tripped when he took you over to view his portfolio - and the weight of your body as he steadied you.
God, he's so fucking desperate for you, not even needing to use his spit to lube up his cock. The head of his dick was practically spurting already, milky white leaking constantly out of his slit as his thumb teases it. Each swipe over it makes his hand jerk, imagining that it was your tongue stuttering from the feeling of him eating you out as you try to fit his girth down your throat.
"Fuck," he sighs, eyes closing as his hips begin to thrust into his hand.
"You're doing so good."
Despite you not being there, his overactive imagination was doing more than enough, grip tightening at the thought of you sinking down until you manage to meet his hips. He's got you on top of him, the way his balls rest against your ass making him gasp against your throat. His hands slip under your thighs and ass, bouncing you up and down at the speed he needs you.
"Kaeya!" you moan breathlessly into his ear, begging him to slow down while your body tries to keep up with his ruthless pace.
It feels even better to have you pinned underneath him, hands clasped with your own as you whimper. He's fucking into you so hard that your hips are brought up with each upstroke. The way your legs wrap around his waist make it almost impossible for him to pull out, your hole clenching over him tighter and tighter as you cum for him for the nth time.
His mind barely registers that it's the plush of his pillow he's roughly grinding into, the softness on his balls and sensitive tip making him whimper almost pathetically. He's worked himself up over and over, ignoring the mess of cum he's made on his sheets.
He hopes you'll say yes when he asks you out. His pillow won't survive too many other sessions like this.

the tortured poets department (sponsored by my procrastination)
excuse my essays for each song the lyrics are so interesting to me so there’s like actual analyzation for each one.
fortnight - dex
that lingering resentment disguised by surface level friendship is that not literally him and sophie come on. “run into you sometimes, ask about the weather” the awkwardness!! “your wife waters flowers, i want to kill her” he was the #1 fitz hater for multiple reasons after all (although i think he was over it by the time keefe became prominent)
the tortured poets department - sophie
this is so keefe from her perspective come on “you’re in self sabatoge mode, throwing spikes down the road, but i’ve seen this episode and still love the show” “i chose this cyclone with you” “sometimes i wonder if you’re gonna screw this up with me. but you told [biana] that you’d kill yourself if i ever leave. and i had said that to [dex] about you so i felt seen. everyone we know understands why we’re meant to be.” also let’s be so real keefes drawing journals + goodbye letters, he’s giving tortured poet
my boy only breaks his favorite toys - fitz
guys he’s just a silly little boy with anger issues, and he’s MY silly little boy with anger issues stop hating him 😞 “the voices in his head called the rain to end our days of wild” “he saw forever so he smashed it up” he may have fucked up but it happens!!
down bad - dex
CUZ FUCK IT HE WAS IN LOVE!!! also if i may present to you: “i might just die it would make no difference” in the context that outside of sophie saw no purpose to his own life. he saw himself just as he is presented in the books: as her best friend and nothing more. so in losing that (blaming himself and his own feelings for it) what was left of him? who was left? sophie was also his ONLY friend. not to mention in the context of the fact that when he WAS presumed dead nobody cared, they still cared more about sophie.
so long, london - keefe
no not bc of london actually but because “and you say i abandoned the ship but i was going down with it, my white knuckle dying grip holding tight to your quiet resentment” is actually a direct reference to keefitz’ friendship falling apart as fitz got angrier and keefe got more closed off. “you swore that you loved me but where were the clues?” “im just mad as hell cause i loved this place” me when everglen is no longer keefes safehaven. nor anyone’s for that matter bc its haunted by alvars betrayal and alden’s mind break and fitz’ anger.
but daddy i love him - biana
“i just learned these people only raise you to cage you” “i just learned these people try and save you…cause they hate you” “dutiful daughter all my plans were laid…growing up precocious sometimes means not growing up at all.” i hate alden vacker. how do u manage to use and fuck up all ur kids by age 12 like wow. “i’ll tell you something about my good name: it’s mine alone to disgrace” she would 100% say this. she would also 100% say “im having his baby! no im not but you should see your faces.”
fresh out the slammer - keefe
sokeefe or keefitz take it as it comes. “in the shade of how he was feeling.” “as i said in my letters.” “my friends try, but i wouldn’t hear it…for just one glimpse of his smile” “swirled you into all of my poems” it’s so him it is truly.
florida!!! - keefe
THIS one’s about london! “well me and my ghosts, we had a hell of a time! yes i’m haunted but im feeling just fine” ethan and eleanor wright who?? “your home’s really only a town you’re just a guest in” candle shade/shores of solace type beat “i need to forget so take me to [london], i have some regrets i’ll bury them in [london]” “i don’t want to exist so take me to [london]” aw bae
guilty as sin? - dex
i don’t know how to explain but i just feel like this feeling of i shouldn’t be doing/feeling this the literal guilt and all these delusions and the sheer intensity of it all is just giving me dex. “this cage was once just fine, am i allowed to cry? i dream of cracking locks, throwing my life to the wolves or the ocean rocks” “i keep these longings locked in lowercase inside a vault” this must be the way he loves if he thinks so little of himself and doesn’t let himself have good things. “i choose you and me religiously” because at the end of the day when he makes a decision or chooses something or someone he puts his all into it.
who’s afraid of little old me - sophie
“you lured me and you hurt me and you taught me. you caged me then you called me crazy. i am what i am cuz you trained me.” all of it’s literally giving her growing into herself in stellarlune and making decisions on her own. SHE IS NOT A PAWN!!!
i can fix him (no really i can) - tam
idk its just giving him defending rayni with his life when everyone else including linh was like who tf is this girl.
loml - fitz
every sad pining song is fitz vacker to me. esp the refrences to the romance being dead but never buried... "still alive killing time at the cemetery, never quite buried...i'm your holy ghost" the way that sophie switched up on him in stellarlune (although i fully support her) didn't give him much time to recover. "are they second-hand embarrased that i can't get out of bed because something counterfiet's dead" give me heartbroken fitz!!! for once instead of angry fitz just give me tired, resigned fitz. "it was legendary, it was momentary, it was unecessary, should've let it stayed buried" is such a good summary of sophitz imo.
i can do it with a broken heart - linh
linh is so interesting to me as a parallel of fitz: meaning she, just like him, is always angry. however she masks it in smiles and kindness the way he never learned to, he just lashes out. this song feels like it’s talking about that mask: “i’m so depressed i act like it’s my birthday everyday” “i can read your mind ‘she’s having the time of her life’ …i can show you lies” “cause im miserable and nobody even knows” “i can hold my breath, i’ve been doing it since [i] left”
the smallest man who ever lived - keefe
it’s giving a letter to cassius/gisela/alvar. “and i don’t even want you back, i just want to know if rusting my sparkling summer was the goal. and i don’t miss what we had” “did you sleep with a gun underneath our bed?” “in 50 years will all this be declassified and you’ll confess why you did it, and i’ll say ‘good riddance’” “i would’ve died for your sins instead i just died inside. and you deserve prison but you won’t get time” “in plain sight you hid, but you are what you did. and i’ll forget you but i’ll never forgive.”
the alchemy - sophie
“cause the sign on your heart said it’s still reserved for me. honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?” aw sokeefe.
clara bow - biana
BIANA BEING COMPARED TO HER BROTHERS AND ALL THE VACKERS BEFORE THEM "the crown is stained but you're the real queen" "beauty is a beast that roars, down on all fours, demanding more...its hell on earth to be heavenly" i love her.
the black dog - fitz
bring back petty fitz!! i think the young girl not knowing the starting line could parallel with keefe not being able to understand things about telepathy that really connected fitz and sophie. i also think we could shift the angle and make it about alvars betrayal and how it sparked his angry trauma response. “you said i needed a brave man, then proceeded to play him until i believed it too.” “now i want to sell my house and set fire to all my clothes…even if i die screaming, and i hope you hear it.”
imgonnagetyouback - fitz
he is 100% this delusional. he's just like me. "you'll find that you were never not mine" "even if its handcuffed im leaving here with you." "told my friends i hate you but i love you just the same, pick your poison babe, i'm poison either way"
the albatross - keefe
“one bad seed kills the garden. one less temptress, one less dagger to sharpen.” “the devil that you know looks now more like an angel. i’m the life you chose, and all this terrible danger.” HE IS THE ALBATROSS. i can’t wait for the movie i want edits of him to this. ACTUALLY I WANT A LOT OF THINGS maybe I’ll make a separate post about that.
chloe or sam or sophia or marcus - keefe
you saw it coming. this song SCREAMS KEEFITZ. like- “you said some things that i can’t unabsorb…you needed me but you needed drugs more.” “changed plans and lovers and outfits and rules all to outrun my desertion of you.” “if you want to break my cold cold heart just say ‘i loved you the way that you were’” WHAT THE HECK DUDE IM SOBBING “back to the moment i crashed into you like so many wrecks do” that line solidified this as keefe’s pov for me. in conclusion. SOBBING.
how did it end - biana
i propose to you: not a relationship, but the vacker family falling apart and the way they became a huge subject of gossip in the lost cities. when alden’s mind broke, while fitz had turned to anger biana became depressed, and i think this song could relate to that as well. the whole part of “guess who we ran into at the shops” feels very much like conversations others would have about the vackers at the time and when alvar betrayed them. “soon they’ll go home to their [brothers], smug cause they know they can trust him.” and i think at the end of the day when all of it happened biana was just young and betrayed and lost, because she didn’t see it coming or understand why (who did?) “the deflation of our dreaming, leaving me bereft and reeling” “i can’t pretend like i understand, how did it end?”
so high school - biana
HER VIBES ALL THE WAY she’s so cute and lovely and i want this for her (and dex. specifically dex. not anyone else.)
i hate here - sophie
was leaning dex until “you see i was a debutant in another life but now i seem to be scared of going outside” but the whole idea of escapism applies to both of them. especially to sophie though when she lived with humans and was so alone because even her own family couldn’t understand her, and she canonically is a bookworm and probably found more comfort in those other lives than she ever could in her own. "I hate it here so I will go to secret gardens in my mind...i read about it in a book when I was a precious child" "ill get lost on purpose, this place made me feel worthless"
thanK you aIMee - tam
aimee 🤝🏽 the song parents. “everyone knows that my [sister] is a saintly woman. but she used to say she wished that you were dead.” “but when i count the scars there’s a moment of truth: that there wouldn’t be this if there hadn’t been you.” thank you song parents 🫶🏽
i look in people’s windows - fitz
i thought this song sounded so creepy till I actually listened to it and now the idea of like lowkey stalking someone just to see if they still care about you or have moved on is slightly making sense. "does it feel alright to not know me? i'm addicted to the if only." it's giving keefitz (when isn't it?)
the prophecy - dex
"let it once be me, who do i have to speak to about if they can redo the prophecy?" THIS JUST REMINDS ME SO MUCH OF THE BEGINNING OF STELLARLUNE WHEN HES LITERALLY MOURNING WHAT HASN'T EVEN HAPPENED TO HIS BROTHER YET i need more dex being the oldest sibling and shouldering that burden. the love-hate relationship with his siblings while simultaneously trying to make their quality of life so much better than what he had. also "a lesser woman would've lost hope, a greater woman wouldn't beg" is so him. he is so that middle.
cassandra - tam
"so they killed cassandra first cuz she feared the worst...do you believe me now?" "you can mark my words, i said it first. in a mourning warning, no one heard." tam when keefe joined the neverseen fr
peter - keefe
pls tell me you saw this one coming. "are you still a mindreader? a natural scene stealer, I've heard great things [fitz], but life was always easier on you than it was on me." "promises, oceans deep, but never to keep" "forgive me [fitz], my lost fearless leader...from when we were just kids. is it something I did?" i think I'm just in a constant state of mourning their friendship.
the bolter - keefe
obvious reasons but also "i can confirm she made a curious child, ever reviled by everyone but her own father." "hearts are hers for the breaking, there's escape in escaping." "she's got the best stories, you can be sure, as she was leaving, it feels like freedom."
robin - dex
had to do some research for this one but apparently its talking about preserving a child's innocence! for this reason it reminds me again of dex and his siblings because of the way he really wants to protect them from things that haven't happened yet (especially considering rex being talentless). "way to go tiger" definitely sounds like something he would say to them feeling all sentimental but then, knowing siblings, they'd probably grill him about why he's being nice 💀
the manuscript -
we know the drill by now, fitz gets all the breakup songs because they could be about sophie OR keefe. "afterwords, she only ate kid's cereal, and slept in her mother's bed" while the song is discussing reverting back to childhood habits in vulnerability, fitz's vulnerability made him angry (but it was still a big change from his regular self) "looking back might be the only way to move forward" I hope he does get to move on!!! im tired of the love triangle plot if we're not gonna focus on keefitz' friendship 😭

20. “What were you like before I met you?”
Hmm… let’s make this interesting. Keyleth meeting the Mighty Nein and getting to know them.
20. "What were you like before I met you?" so this happened bc, not for the first time, i read "mighty nein" and saw "bells hells," and, not for the first time, saw "bells hells" and thought "orym." so basically, this in no way resembles the prompt, but it is what i have lol
All of the most important people in the world are leaving, scattering and coalescing into their various war rooms and private councils. The Hells are getting sidelong looks, which Orym can understand; yesterday, they were strangers, interlopers, nobodies—today, they're heroes.
He watches Dorian fall into conversation with his father and tries not to use his keen lip-reading ability to follow every word. He imagines a thousand different ways that conversation could go, but it's up to Dorian to tell him about which one it ended up being, if he wants to. Chetney's been flagged down by one of the Sanctuary's scalebearers, and Orym just has to see the phrase "C-POP" on his lips to know he wants nothing to do with whatever that is. Braius is being reconfronted by Highbearer Vord, but Orym has learned in their scant few hours together that if anyone can lie their way out of trouble, it's Braius Doomseed.
So he takes this moment to find the Voice of the Tempest. He appears at her elbow silently, making the Dwendalian representative she's speaking with jump, but the Tempest doesn't even flinch. "Hello, Orym."
"Tempest." He ducks his head. "Do you have a minute? I don't mean to interrupt."
"Of course." She bids goodbye to the Dwendalian and leads Orym away. "What's on your mind?"
"Well, uh, first I wanted to thank you for those titles, the ones you gave my friends. It...means a lot."
The Tempest snorts ungracefully. "You should have seen the first six drafts." She smiles down at him. "It was my honor, Orym. I know what it is to have the fate of the world on your shoulders. The very least we could do is acknowledge it appropriately."
"What were you like before I met you?" Orym asks.
The Tempest laughs. "Orym, I've known you since you were the size of a housecat."
He flushes. "I know, I mean—what were you like when you were...like me? Part of a group with the fate of the world on its shoulders?"
She drums her fingers thoughtfully along her staff. "Hmm. Well, I was younger," she quips. "More optimistic, I think. Definitely more naive. I really thought that if we tried hard enough, if we cared enough, we could stop all the bad things from happening." She smiles again, this time wryly. "My secret, though, is that most of the time? I still think that way."
Orym's heart sinks a little. "So...you never had any doubt? You just always knew you were going to get the job done?"
The Tempest throws her head back and lets out a barking laugh that draws the attention of the surrounding dignitaries. "Oh, fuck no, are you kidding?" She crouches down then, gets to his eye level in the way that has never once felt to Orym like a parent condescending to a child, but rather someone speaking to their equal. "Orym, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the doubt is there literally all of the time. Even today, putting forth that plan with Vex and Allura, I had no idea how that was going to go, if the others would accept it, if it's even going to work. But the alternative is doing nothing, and I have never been good at that."
"Is that why you're so strong? Because there is no alternative?"
"I am strong, Orym, for the same reason you're strong." Her fingers dance briefly between them, and suddenly, she's holding onto the stem of a pearly white snowdrop. "I'm strong because there are people counting on me to be strong. People I love. People I couldn't bear to let down." She hands him the snowdrop. It is soft and alive in his fingers. "You have those people. I know you do." He doesn't miss the way her eyes flick over to Dorian, who is just now walking away from his father. "And a word of advice? From someone who waited and will carry the regret of that waiting for the next millennium?" There's a twinkle of something almost mischievous in her eye. "Do not take too long to let those people know how you feel. You and I know better than most that you never know how long you have with them."
She stands then, tall and regal, gives him a wink, and glides away, leaving Orym speechless and holding the flower. He watches her disappear into the throngs of the Platinum Sanctuary, and then his eyes catch Zeru Wyvernwind walking down the steps. He stuffs the snowdrop into his pocket and jogs after him, suddenly finding himself with quite a bit to say.

you gonna let me be good to you? (karen's version)
Tumblr media
pairing: karen page x fem!reader
summary: karen shows you all the benefits that come with owning lingerie.
word count: 834
a/n: this was originally in you gonna let me be good to you, but i scrapped it bc i didn't think it fit. but based on this ask, and the fact that it's pride month, i decided to gift y'all with this b-roll footage. enjoy. ;) as always, feedback is welcomed/appreciated.
Tumblr media
Karen’s bright blue eyes phased into incredulous full moons as your alcohol infused confession slipped past your lips.
“What do you mean you’ve never worn lingerie?”
An entertained snort escaped you as you gaped back at her, gesturing towards yourself unsteadily as your drink sloshed around in your glass.
“Who would I be wearing it for? You know I’ve only had like…a few boyfriends.”
Her taupe brows knit together in disapproval as she waved her hands in front of her clumsily in a dismissive manner.
“Fuck them, you wear it for you. To make you feel sexy. They should be so goddamn lucky to even get a glimpse of you in it.”
Karen’s firm words had you erupting into a fit of tipsy giggles. She was treating your lack of lingerie experience like an expose she needed to cover and get to the bottom of.
“Uh uh. Nope. We are fixing this tonight.”
Somehow the two of you managed to make it back to her apartment, and after a little more convincing, and a few more drinks, you were in her bathroom changing into a lacy little red number. Despite your protests about you not being the same size, Karen shoved you into her bathroom with the little garment and shut the door before you could say another word.
Staring at yourself in the mirror, you felt a rush of heat flame your cheeks. It could be the alcohol simmering in your bloodstream, or it could be the reflection in front of you. Despite the piece being extremely tight, it covered all the bits it needed to, leaving very little to the imagination. It almost didn’t matter that your boobs were spilling out of the little cups and that your ass was completely on display, a mere thin thread of crimson dental floss seemingly placed between your cheeks, because Karen was right.
You felt hot.
An excited giggle left you as you stared at the siren smirking back at you in the mirror. Your self confidence had never been this high. Was it because you were drunk? Probably. Did you care? Not at all.
Opening the bathroom door, you sauntered out into Karen’s bedroom, staring over at her with a huge grin on your lips. Her jaw became unhinged as she stared at you, utterly gobsmacked by your appearance. Letting out a loud whistle, her tongue slowly swept along her bottom lip before she sank her top teeth into the pink flesh.
“Goddamn. You should definitely wear lingerie to work.”
“Karen! I can’t do that!”
In your hazy state, you almost missed the pure hunger darkening Karen’s sky blue eyes into sharp sapphires. She beckoned you over in a sultry manner with her finger, and you obeyed her silent gesture commanding a slow twirl, stopping to stand right in front of her with a proud smile.
But once your eyes met hers again, your breath caught in your throat. In the decadent glow of the moonlight, you caught the lustful midnight mist that pooled around her dilated pupils. Something was drawing you into her like the magnetic pull of gravity, and you could tell by the look in her eyes that you both felt it. When her hands delicately reached out to gently grab onto your hips, you allowed her to guide you onto her lap. You didn’t know if it was the various glasses of liquid courage you had consumed, the surge of confidence of having the cherry lace painted onto your figure, or the seductive smirk on Karen’s pink lips coupled with the ravenous expression in her eyes, but when she leaned in, you didn’t hesitate to meet her halfway.
Karen was surprisingly tender for someone so tenacious in every other aspect of her life, but when she felt the way you reciprocated the movement of her lips, her kisses became more fervent and hungry, like she had just realized how much she had been starving. Once that guise of trepidation diminished and she could feel through the thin ruby fabric that you were enjoying the taste of her just as much, she kissed you like she wanted to devour you completely.
One of her hands tangled in your hair as the other pushed against your lower back, encouraging you to rock your hips a little more. You don’t even know when you had started doing that, but once you were aware of your own actions, it felt too good to stop and you wanted more. An involuntary moan sounded from deep within your chest when her warm tongue slipped past your lips to caress your own, and that seemed to send Karen into a frenzy.
Karen spent the entire night solidifying your decision to purchase your own set of lingerie, and when you woke up the next morning, you saw she had gone ahead and picked out a set for you. She even got herself the same one in a different color.
You couldn’t wait to compare when they came in.

After Flight
Manon Blackbeak x f!Reader
A/n: not sure how I feel about this one but I love Manon so here’s this lol. This is post KoA and the thirteen are here bc I’m in denial 😁
Warnings: none besides some nudity
The sound of beating wings draws your attention away from the book you’ve been engrossed in for the afternoon. It’s been so long that the sun has started setting.
From your spot on the plush armchair facing the floor-to-ceiling windows in the library of the Witch Castle, you spot your fiancé, Manon, flying at the front of the Thirteen. Her long white braid catches in the orange-pink glow of the setting sun as Abraxos dives towards the aerie.
Smiling to yourself, you twist the onyx and diamond ring on your finger. It’s been a little over a year since Maeve and Erawan were defeated. When Manon lead the witches back to their home in the Wastes, you were so happy to watch her thrive as the queen she was always meant to be. Life was good and slowly getting back to some semblance of normal. After months of getting the new kingdom in order Manon proposed and the two of you have never been happier.
You put down the book on the footrest in front of you, stand, and head for the large double oak doors to head to your chambers. Manon should be back in your rooms soon if the Thirteen are landing now.
Opening the door you’re surprised to see Manon already in the sitting area pacing in front of Asterin and Sorrel. You can tell by her tense shoulders today’s flying exercise was not a pleasant one.
Her second and third in command spot you before Manon does, still busy tearing into the poor witches. Asterin clears her throat, “What,” Manon growls. Sorrel nods her head in your direction and Manon whips her head towards you, face softening instantly, “Y/n. I thought you had gone down to the dining room, my love.”
Even though Manon has come a long way from her heart-of-ice personality it’s rare she lets her soft spot for you show it in front of others.
“I wanted to see you before dinner. I’m sorry did I interrupt something?” You start to shy away from the witches. “No,” Manon answers quickly. Asterin and Sorrel take that as their dismissal. As the two witches pass you they give you a quick nod and Asterin shoots you a wink, closing the door behind her.
Manon lets out a sigh and rolls her shoulders, like a weight has just tumbled off of them. You walk over to her, pulling her into an embrace wrapping your arms around her waist, and laying the side of your face on her chest. You can hear her heartbeat slowing down as she wraps her arms around your shoulders.
“I missed you today, sweet girl.” Manon leans down and kisses the top of your head. “I missed you too, my love.” Loosening your grip around her waist you lean back to stare up into her striking, burnt gold eyes. Usually they are full of love but, right now they’re hiding anger and stress. You never want to see them or her like that. It breaks your heart because you know she’ll never let you take care of her like she takes care of me.
“What’s wrong Manon?” You ask my voice full of concern for the Witch Queen. “Nothing y/n.” You look at her with disbelief.
“You know better than to brush something off. Tell me Manon it’s ok.” She sighs again rolling out her neck causing her moon-white braid to fall off her shoulder. “Today’s flying exercise didn’t go how I wanted it to. It wasn’t us, the Thirteen felt…off and it got to me.” Manon leaned her head down resting her forehead against mine and closed her eyes. You start rubbing slow circles on her lower back, “Oh Manon, I’m sorry baby. You’ve been working nonstop for months. Please let me take care of you tonight.”
You don’t wait for her answer as you grab her hand and lead her into the bathing room. After turning the tub faucet on you throw in some floral-scented bubble bath as the massive porcelain, clawfoot tub fills. You turn around seeing Manon leaning against the counter. She looks apprehensive like she’s debating on letting you take care of her or not. “You don’t have to do this y/n.”
Silently you step toward her reaching for her hands. “It’s not a bad thing to be taken care of once in a while. Being taken care of doesn’t make you weak, if anything it helps you become stronger. You can’t keep going until something snaps. You need breaks in between the strong moments so you can keep going.”
Silver starts to line her eyes but she blinks it back. Manon smiles at you and nods her head. You smile back, “Let’s get you out of those leathers, yeah?” Manon steps away from the counter and turns so you can undo the ties of her leathers.
Manon pads over to the tub and sinks into the water up to her shoulders. The Witch Queen leans back, closing her eyes. A little moan leaves her throat as she settles in. Your cheeks heat up from the noise she makes. You go to pick up her leathers when a wet hand grasps yours. “Aren’t you going to get in with me, my love?” Quickly contemplating, you nod and strip. Leaving your dress on the floor with her leathers.
You motion for Manon to move forward as you get in. You wrap your arms around her shoulders and pull her flush to your chest.
Leaving a few pecks on her neck and cheeks you reach for the soap to start washing her. You move on to her hair, massaging the lather on Manon’s scalp. Once she’s all rinsed, you take her hand guiding her out of the tub.
After wrapping a towel around yourself and holding one out for Manon. She reaches out for it, “Nope,” I say, “I’m not done taking care of you.” She breathes out of her nose but lets me dry her off, wrapping the towel around her.
“How are you feeling?” You ask as Manon slumps down on the pillows on your bed, angling her body towards mine. “Better. Thank you y/n.” You run my fingers through her damp hair and kiss her forehead.

Tumblr media
This is my first time writing and uploading fanfiction so I’m v nervous aaaa
Summary: even if you weren’t aware of it, you and Matt always found each other no matter what.
2.7k words
This is a Matt Murdock x artist!gn!reader bc it’s self indulgent ok
Lots of fluff no warning except this was written on my phone on the tumblr app so keep that in mind
i kind of want to do a part 2 but i'll see bc I have an idea on how to continue it but I just don’t have the energy to add it here
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first time you encountered matt was when you were ten.
You were looking for your favorite book in the library when you got lost. You were scared and alone, you didn’t know this section of the library. why were all the books just dots?!?!
Sliding down leaning on the wall, you started sobbing silently. You just wanted to read your favorite book and now you’ll be lost forever. Your mom must be so worried! You never got the chance to say goodbye to her. You won’t get to bake with her anymore. You won’t be able to have cookies anymore!!
All these worries were pulsing around in your tiny head when a voice cut through them like scissors
“Why are you crying?”
Through the blur of tears, you saw a boy around your age. He had rectangular glasses and brown, fluffy hair.
You sniffled “I- I’m lost and- and I can’t find my favorite book” tears continued to freely fall down your face
“Hey don’t cry. I’m sure I can help you find your way out” his gentle smile in your direction helped slow down your panic, but you were still crying.
He reached for your shoulder to help you up. His hand was so warm, you felt as if it was heating you up. Or maybe it was just the unexpected physical contact
Slowly, you got up from your position on the ground, and saw that the boy was holding a long stick.
“Why do you have a stick?”
“I can’t see so it helps me walk around and not bump into anyone”
You wondered about the logistics of how the stick works. How would life be if you couldn’t see? You wouldn’t be able to draw, that’s for sure. You wouldn’t be able to see the sky on a bright summers day.
These thoughts helped distract you from your earlier panic
“So if you’re blind, how come you’re in the library? Can you read?” You didn’t say it in a condescending manner, but with a genuine interest to understand how his life works.
“Well, there’s books with bumps in them that I can feel, and they create words when combined”
“That’s actually so cool! So you can just like feel bumps in a page and instantly know what it means?”
“I don’t know if cool is the word, but yes” he chuckled a little at your enthusiastic reply. His smile was warm and comforting, almost inviting you to try to make him smile more.
“Well it’s cool so that is the word” you humph back, defending yourself jokingly
He was going to reply, but when you saw your mom from afar you ran to her without giving him a chance to say anything
“Thank you!” You shouted to him while running to the comfort of safety
“Shhh!” The librarian had to remind you to be quiet, but you didn’t really care.
The boy just smiled and walked away. Only then did you realize you didn’t get his name.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The second time you saw Matt was only for a short moment.
You were walking to your first day in high school when you bumped into someone by accident. You stumbled backwards, almost falling and catching yourself, but causing your book bag to fall instead.
“Are you alright?” You heard someone ask
“Yeah yeah I’m so sorry I’m just in a rush” you explained hurriedly as you went to pick up your bag, only to bump your head into the boy’s walking cane.
“I’m sorry” he was holding out your book bag. How did he get it so fast?
“I’m the one who should be apologizing! I ran into you!”
“It’s alright, you go on with your day” he smiled at you so warmly, it reminded you of the boy you met at the library when you were smaller.
You wanted to dwell on it, but you had a class to be late to. “Thank you so much!” You tried to show your gratitude, but you just bowed awkwardly. You were already so embarrassed you just up and ran away from him.
As you walked away, Matt watched you with a smile on his lips and a cute blush on his cheeks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The third time you met him, it was at the cafe you worked at.
Paying for college isn’t easy, so because you had late classes you started working the morning shifts at the cute cafe down the road from your apartment. It was tiring waking up at 5am everyday to bake all the pastries and clean up, but it was worth it to continue being independent.
The ding of the door signaled the first customer of the day
“Hello sir how may I help you?” Even though you were tired you put on your best customer service voice. “Hi, can I have a small black coffee?” You looked up to see a cute guy in opaque sunglasses.
“Anything else?” It was relatively easy to smile at him, what with him being so cute and all. “What do you recommend?” You hadn’t expected him to actually get anything else, it’s just something you were programmed to say to every customer.
“Well, I would recommend the cinnamon toast roll! They’re very delicious it’s hard not to eat them all” you laughed a little because it’s very true. After you finish baking you get attached and don’t want to sell them.
“Then I’ll have one of those” he sends you a charming smile and you can’t help but get a little flustered.
“And who’s this order for?” You ask. It’s a stupid question once you think about it for too long. Why not just ask for someone’s name? The question implies that if the food is for someone else than they should say that name, but then they would get confused when that name is called and not theirs
“Matt” he smiles at you, and suddenly the logistics of your question don’t seem to matter that much anymore. Suddenly all that matters is getting a closer look at that smile.
He pays for the food and coffee and leaves. He doesn’t see you staring at him as he does
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day you saw Matt again.
He’s once again the first customer of the day. The bell rings and when you look up your step feels a little lighter. “How can I help you?”
“A small black coffee please? And another pastry recommendation, the last one was amazing” you can’t help but blush. He thinks your cinnamon toast roll was ‘amazing’, and he trusted your opinion enough to buy it
“The strawberry muffin is one of my favorites! But maybe that’s just because I have a major sweet tooth…” you do work at a coffee shop and bake all the pastries, of course you have a sweet tooth!
“Then I’ll have two of those” damn, you don’t think you’ll ever be tired of his smile. “Who’s the second for?” You hope it’s not for a partner “oh it’s for my roommate. I told him about the great roll you recommended and he wants to try out something for himself”
So maybe he doesn’t have a partner? Anyways your job is customer service, not finding out if the cute blind guy is single, so you write Matt with a little smiley next to it on the cup and send him on his way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Matt became a regular.
Every morning you would make a black coffee in advance for him, and every time you recommended a new pastry. You even shared a few flirtatious back and forth sometimes.
One day you felt really confident, so you decided you’re gonna shoot your shot with him. Before he comes, you decide to etch into the cup ‘you’re really cute, would you want to go out sometime?’ You add a little drawing of a kitty next to it and your number.
The bell dings and suddenly all your confidence goes out with the cool breeze from outside.
“Hey Matt, the usual?”
“Yes please. What am I having today?” It’s become a thing between you two that He lets you pick out what to give him. It’s quite nice
“Just some butter cookies with jam. A little basic but very much a classic” you already prepared them in a holder with the coffee, but Matt likes to drag out the process in order to talk to you.
“Those actually sound really great. I remember eating them while learning braille” maybe you should’ve learned braille and written in it on the cup, maybe that would’ve been more romantic.
“Well I hope you enjoy them!” He pays and leaves you anxiously hoping for a text from him.
Luckily, it doesn’t take long.
From: unknown
These cookies are delicious!
I would love to go out if it means more of these tasty treats haha
Oh my god he actually would like to go out with you!! You quickly save his contact info to Matt and text him back
I didn’t know I could bribe you for a date! If I did I would’ve done it way earlier
You don’t need to bribe me to enjoy your company, I already do ;)
Is it getting hot in here or is it just you?
Well if you want, I have the closing shift too so you can come by after I’m done?
I would love to
What time?
6:30pm
See ya later alligator
Why did you write that?? That’s so weird! But you can’t do anything better because suddenly there’s a bunch of customers already here.
It may be a cliché but time does go a little slower the rest of the day. Your excitement and anxiety make it difficult to focus on doing your job, but you manage and suddenly it’s closing time and you hear the bell ding.
“I’m sorry but we’re closed” you say out of instinct while staring down at the table you’re wiping.
“Aww that sucks, I’ll just come back another time” you can see the smile on his lips grow as you look up at him. He just does a little wave in your general direction and you go to greet him.
Instead of going out, you both decided it would be fun to stay in the empty cafe. You talk, eat some left over pastries and just have fun together, enjoying each other’s company.
“So tell me, what do you study?” You ask as you nibble on a strawberry cupcake. “Oh I just do law” “wow, serious much” you can’t help but comment, because this cute, laid back guy just mentioned he studies law!
“Well I’m a serious person” he smiles at you in a way that shows you he’s clearly joking. “If I’m too serious for you then what do you study?” “Oh just art” compared to him, it feels silly, but it’s something you’re very serious about.
“I bet you’re great” “how would you know?” You joke because, well, he can’t see if you’re good or not. “Just from how good you are at everything else” now that makes you flustered and you can’t help but ask “like what?”.
“Like baking, making coffee and being nice”
“Being nice isn’t something you have to be good at, it just comes naturally” maybe to other people it doesn’t, but to you it does. “Well then you’re better at it than most people. Trust me, I would know” there’s a hint of something genuine in that statement, you almost miss it.
“Maybe those people just have enough problems in their life as is, so they don’t have enough energy to be nice” trying to justify people’s behavior is something you do a lot, even if it’s not always a good thing.
“Maybe” you don’t think he believes you, but just doesn’t want to get into this topic. You respect that and quickly change the conversation into a different direction.
“You know, something I’ve always wanted to do was dance with someone in an empty cafe. It looks romantic in all the movies” it’s not really subtle, but it gets the job done.
“Well I may not be the best dancer because- you know” he gestures to his face, and you giggle a little. “But it could be fun” did you mention already that his charming smile is amazing?
You go behind the counter and put on a random romantic playlist you find. Once you get back to him, you see that he’s holding his hand out to you
“May I have this dance?” He does a little bow, and you almost notice the tiny amount of blush on his face.
“Yes you may” he smiles brightly at you, and you smile right back, your heartbeat picking up at the sight of him.
As you get closer, he takes your hands and places them on his shoulders, while his go to your waist. You sway gently while the music plays, and you can’t help but wonder how it could be to be with him. Would he be a loving, caring partner? Would he bring you flowers and chocolates on Valentine’s Day, or cuddle with you when you’re sick?
God you hope he does.
Maybe it’s too early, but you could see yourself being with him in the future. His scent invites you in, and your dancing sort of morphs into a hug that moves around.
It’s quiet, but it’s not awkward. The only sound comes from the speakers of the shop, the latest song ending. His warmth comforts you. You want to stay in that hug forever.
You instantly recognize the next song that starts to play, and you softly hum the tune of it.
“Whatcha thinking about?” He asks
“Nothing” it’s a lie. You’re currently imagining cuddling with him on an late Sunday morning, not getting out of bed for anything.
You think he realizes you’re lying, but he lets it go anyways.
“I’ve had a nice time” he pulls back a little and you get a good look at his face. “Me too” he can hear the soft smile on your lips, and he smiles back at you. Your faces are so close, you can just feel his warm breath on your nose. you’re not usually a ‘kiss a guy on the first date’ kind of person, but maybe you can make an exception.
For a second, he hesitates before asking you “can I kiss you?”
The question makes a blush spread around his face, almost like he’s embarrassed to ask it.
“Please” now it’s your turn to be embarrassed. At least it wasn’t for long, because as soon as you feel his lips on yours, all that nervous energy goes away.
He’s kissing you gently, like he’s afraid the second you break contact you’ll dissolve in his arms. His lips feel soft, a little chapped but not in an unpleasant way.
Once you break away for air, you chase him into another kiss, Just because you want to remember how it feels to kiss him in case you don’t get to again.
After a couple more kisses, you finally look at the time.
“What. The. Fuck. It’s ten??!?!” Your manager was going to kill you.
“I’m guessing that’s not good?” Matt asks, but he already knows by your tone of voice it’s time to go. “Yeah… I’m sorry, we have to go” it’s disappointing. You wanted to stay like this, with him, for as long as you could, but time wasn’t on your side.
As you lock up the door, you look up at Matt. “I just wanted to say again what a wonderful evening I had” the harsh, cold wind slapped at your face with the reality of coming back to a cold, empty apartment with no Matt in sight.
“I had a lovely evening too. I would love to see you again sometime” the cold made the tips of his nose and ears pink, and it was an adorable sight. “I would love to see you too” you said in a genuine voice. The cold wasn’t the only reason your face was red.
With a parting kiss on the cheek, you went back to your apartment giddy and hopeful for the future.
The Ghost King (of Miscommunication) Ch. 21
Part 1-12,Part 13,Part 14,Part 15, Part 16, Part 17, Part 18, Part 19, Part 20
Part 21!
So this kinda got long. I wouldn't be able to fit the explanation part without posting off of my ao3 schedule. Also the chapter would be, like, way longer than the ~2K I've been aiming for.
So! Here's this, and I'm gonna try to post the explanation-scene as a separate chapter on Thursday or Friday. (It'll probably be big on its own anyway).
Info: Self-concept upon death hugely impacts ghost form, and Sam & Tucker expected white hair bc of Danny. So by the time Jazz became a ghost (read: Died) it was just an expectation that white hair and green eyes would be a part of that.
(Danny's own palette swap is an effect of his beliefs about what happens when things burn [white to black] and bleach in heat [black to white - like the flag on the moon]. White hair being associated with stress/death, green eyes because green was all he could see, etc. Just a lot of jumbled, morbid, last-minute thoughts while he was dying combined with pre-existing, subconscious beliefs about life and death.)
Jason's form is his exact form from when he died - minus all the injuries and plus the full-white eyes (not just normal eyes behind a domino mask - I know that varies by version for some robins. This is full-whites. They do still turn green when he's angry tho)
***
Jason only realized he’d been tricked after they finally called it a draw.
For all a snowball fight barely counted as a fight, he certainly felt calmer after getting some of his energy out.
He’d been so distracted enjoying himself he hadn’t even thought of using the chaos to bolt - not that he would have anyway, given he still didn’t know where to find a portal home.
The girl flits in front of him just in time for him to catch his breath.
“Nice to meet you,” She holds out a hand, grin as exuberant as it had been throughout the game - minus the feral tinge of competitiveness.
“I’m Danielle,” she offered as he shook the proffered hand. “But call me Elle - or Dani with an i if you want to mess with someone.”
The mischief on her face at the suggestion made him think she’d done so before.
She almost certainly already knew his name, but not telling her himself would be rude - a death sentence if they really were fae. Still, that she hadn’t prompted him should make it safer. Maybe.
(If the initial kidnapping was permitted by Danny hearing his name then he certainly didn’t hear a prompt from him, but who knows if inaudible whispers count. At least he can see that Danielle’s mouth hasn’t moved)
(Not like he isn’t already kidnapped anyway. What’ll they do, double kidnap him?)
“Jason,” he says as he disengages from the handshake, smiling genuinely despite himself.
(And he meant to smile, he did - he’d read enough stories to know how important being polite to the fae is; one wrong word and you’re 15 ribs shy of a full skeleton. Or a brother shy of a full family. It was half the reason he’d spoken as little as he had - but he hadn’t meant for it to be real)
“I’m sure Danny told you aaaaaall about me already, and yes, I really am that cool.”
Danielle - Elle - breaks Jason out his mental spiral. He just manages to smother his laugh with a cough.
“Ah, the tour actually got kind of off track, so I hadn’t had a chance to mention you yet.”
Elle gasps dramatically, putting both hands over her heart and flopping to the ground at Danny’s proclamation.
“Oh, I am wounded! I am shattered! I am abandoned and unloved!-” Danny laughs “-I am filing a formal complaint! I am requisitioning forms to have my darling emotional support Panther, Palu, moved to the Palace-”
“You- Emotio-WHAT!?” Danny reels back, expression horrified.
Elle floats up to sit a foot off the ground, arms and legs both crossed. She glares at him for about 5 seconds before sticking out her tongue and grinning.
“I’m kidding, you big chicken.”
“She ate my cape made with Actual Stars, Elle.”
Elle laughs at Danny’s clear relief and the following pout. Jason himself fails to suppress a snort.
“Well,” Danny huffs, turning to Wulf. “While these two are busy laughing at my expense, I wanted your opinion on something.”
He gestures to a more distant tree with his eyes, and Wulf follows as he floats away - probably aiming for out of earshot.
Elle abandons her laughter to float upright just in front of him - the floating equivalent of standing, he supposes.
“Anyway, like I said, I’m Elle. Long story short Danny’s ex-arch-nemesis who shall not be named wanted to adopt Danny and handled the ‘no’ really poorly and tried to clone him. I was the only surviving clone, and after trying to kill Danny on said manipulative ex-nemesis’ orders he managed to change my mind about said nemesis, helped stabilize me, and eventually ended up adopting me.” She said, in the most nonchalant manner possible, which, wow, the story really did not call for.
Jason desperately wants to know the long version.
“Sooo…” she drawls, smile gaining a teasing edge, “I guess you can actually just call me big sis.”
She laughs at his suddenly blank expression.
“No? How about ‘best big sister ever?’ Oh! Oh! Or ‘Coolest big sister in the Realms?’ Get it? Cuz ice powers.”
She flits around him as she speaks, wiggling her fingers and loosing a few flakes of snow at the last bit for emphasis, giggling.
Jason isn’t sure how to respond without insulting her somehow.
To any of that, really.
“Never expected to have a baby brother,” she muses, “but then with how readily he adopted me despite my origins I guess it isn’t all that surprising. Especially with you being a halfa and all. We’re really rare, I’m sure you’ve noticed. Or maybe not - you are only like a week old, technically.”
“I’m 22,” he corrects, unbelievingly.
She snorts.
“In human years, maybe.”
And hey. Wow. Jason is not a fan of that.
(Yes, he’s glowing. Yes, he’s visibly de-aged 7 years. No, he has not accepted any of the potential implications that has regarding his human-ness.)
Jason has roughly 100 more questions after her little info-dump than he did before.
Before he can debate risking those rib bones, what can only be one of the infamous ‘eyeballs’ shows up.
It sure is an eyeball, just one giant eye takes up most of its head, but for the thin green outline that connects to the rest of its body - only seen by the matching green of its hands, which themselves bear off-puttingly long claws.
It is also wearing quite possibly the most pretentious robes he has ever laid eyes on.
This coming from someone who grew up watching Brucie Wayne play air headed, carefree rich boy like it was his true calling - the man had a designer collection of dramatic robes to greet unexpected late-evening guests with.
“Phantom.”
“Greg.”
“That is not my name.”
By the terse greetings and short follow-up, this was a common exchange.
The eyeball - Greg, why not - turned its eye on Jason just then.
For all its size, the eye moved just as fast as a normal one. The motion was wrong in some indefinable way; grotesque to see. He did his best not to react, cautious of setting the being off; this one seemed more volatile than those he’d met thus far.
Despite the lack of a facial expression, Jason couldn’t help but feel like he was being sneered at.
Thankfully its attention on him was brief, turning back to address Elle after only a beat.
“If you are quite finished shirking your duties to play in the snow, the Valhallan representative is waiting to speak with you.”
“What??? He isn’t supposed to be here for another hour,” Elle questioned, brown pinched.
“It has been an hour, Phantom.”
He floats to her side to point towards the palace.
“If you would be so kind, I would like to get this over with.”
“Uuuuuuugh,” Elle groans, drifting slowly in that direction despite the apparent distaste, “Can’t you just watch from your lair like Clocky always does?”
“You know very well that matters of exceptional import and tumultuous path selection require personal observation in order to maintain timeline coherency. All royal meetings for-”
“‘-at least the next three weeks fit the criteria.’” Elle makes air quotes as she speaks, turning to face Greg while still floating towards the palace, backwards.
“I know, I know. Blah blah regulation, blah blah timelines, blah blah paperwork. Heard it. Got it. Thanks.” She concludes with an eyeroll, before looking back at him.
“Have fun with the rest of the tour!” she yells, smiling and waving as if she was already a mile away. “Make sure Danny shows you the map rooms!”
And then she turns and zooms away.
He can sense the faintest bit of rage coming from Greg, and he barely hears the muttered ‘Insufferable abomination’ before the…guy?...eye… follows suit.
He watches until the eye disappears into the building.
At which point he hears a small sigh from beside him.
He nearly jumps out of his skin in startlement, whipping his head around to find Danny floating placidly by his side, saluting into the distance.
“Good luck, Elle,” he says mournfully, “Rip to your good mood.”
“That bad?” Jason asks, resettling his nerves.
Danny snorts.
“The Observants always make everything either as boring as they can or as difficult as they can. It could be worse though; the Valhallans are a party people so it should balance out. Best case scenario they’ll spend the end of the meeting annoying ‘Greg’-” he adds air quotes at this, grinning, “-together.”
‘The Observants must be the eyeballs then,’ Jason thinks. ‘The name is a bit on the nose…or eye.’
“Anyway!” Danny twists and drifts to float in front of him. “We’ve got another hour or so before dinner; ready to get back to the tour?”
Jason opens his mouth, then pauses.
He takes a glance around and asks “Where is Wulf?”
“Oh, he’s off picking up a preorder - Volume 15 of, uh…something? I don’t remember the name. But don’t worry, he’ll be back in a few hours.”
And wow, the promise that Wulf isn’t just hovering unseen in the background does a lot to untense muscles he hadn’t realized were tensed.
“Right. Sure, tour away.”
He held in his questions, for all that he was bursting at the seams for answers.
Because really: Clone? Archnemesis??? Was this a hero-villain thing or a fae politics thing? Cloning generally wasn’t a thing heroes did, but kidnapping wasn’t either.
What did Elle mean by ‘Halfa?’ Or technically a week old???
Also: brother? Adopted? There’s no way, right?
Being yanked off of the streets of Crime Alley by some dude living in a veritable castle to be adopted with little to no explanation was not something that happened to people twice.
Let alone when he is, in fact, a grown-ass man.
----------------------
The next section they visit is Elle’s, located close to the final tower on the same side as the Specters’ had been.
The first room is filled with complex ice sculptures - a panther the size of a horse, a normal-sized cat, a few of the yetis, a kid in a pirate garb with a parrot, a girl covered in…Lunch Boxes? Danny, Jazz, and Spike were scattered among more unfamiliar statues.
They take their time in this room, Danny pointing to a lot of the people depicted and giving him names to go with faces - he even recognizes a few of them from earlier parts of the tour, and makes sure to commit them all to memory.
Then came the rooms that looked like a cosmopolitan’s dream collection.
A room dedicated to world maps through the ages - little groups of similarly-aged maps slowly orbited each other in globe-like patterns while newer versions and even a few of alien worlds lined the walls.
At least 3 rooms are dedicated to photos from all around the world - he spotted the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids, the Congo from above, the Great Wall of China, Niagara Falls - plenty of well-known tourist locations, as well as a wide variety of nature shots. The nature shots took up an entire floor-width room, and were arranged to transition from one biome to the next.
The next room is full of souvenirs; postcards, foods from around the world frozen in more of that crystal-clear ice, weapons, clothing, jewelry - a little bit of everything.
Another swift pass-through - and by, since one of them was occupied - of the meeting, sitting, and nap rooms has them finally arrive at the room that was probably the reason Elle said ‘map rooms’ and not just ‘room.’
It was domed like an observatory, but instead of the night sky it showed that infinite green.
Different sections zoomed in and out, just slowly enough to take in. The room is scattered with cushions and telescopes aimed up. At the very center stands some kind of machine, spitting out paper which, when he floats over to look at it, reveals a single, ever-growing map.
“Elle is obsessed with travel,” Danny says fondly. “She was away more often than not at first, but then she got the idea to map the Realms - a map that can be referenced rather than a single ‘take me where I ask you to’ artifact.”
He floats up towards the dome as he speaks.
“It might seem pointless with how much paper an infinite amount of realms will take to map, but the mechanism feeds the map data into a computer that sends everything to be incorporated into Tucker and Technus’ Zone Map App. It updates constantly, what with the fluctuations in the Zone, but it’s always improving.”
“Fluctuations?” Jason asks, processing the ‘infinite amount of realms’ remark.
“Think of it like space; there’s gravity against the constant growth of the universe. The zone expands and contracts, like the flow of a tide. Except it’s moving in all directions instead of just the two.
But it expands more than it contracts, and just like on the sea or in space things can drift closer together or farther apart. Following specific streams can help, but only so much. Reliable navigation was pretty hard to come by before Elle, Tuck, and Technus started working on this.”
“Impressive,” Jason says softly.
And it is. The thought of mapping a veritable ocean with important bits that never stayed in the same place…it seemed nigh-impossible.
Opposite the third tower - “We can tour my tower after dinner,” Danny had said - lay the section belonging to Jazz and Spike.
The first thing they come to is familiar - the library.
“Anyone can use the library, but Jazz is the one in charge.”
Jason stops cold.
“Jazz.” He echoes.
Jazz, who had so calmly and proficiently wielded a gun.
Who had gifted him a gun.
Who had expressed her own love for literature.
They’d even briefly discussed some of the classics and yet-
“Jazz made that impossible excuse for a sorting system!?”
He couldn’t bring himself to worry about upsetting him, he’d just have to risk the ribs. That ‘sorting’ system was a travesty that could not stand unchallenged.
Luckily, Danny only chuckles a bit.
“Come on, it’s not that bad,” he snorts, shaking his head.
“Not that- how are you supposed to find anything!” he shouts, throwing his hands into the air.
“You ask,” Danny answers, brow raised.
“WHO!? THERE’S NO RECEPTIONIST!” Jason scrubs his hands against his hair in frustration.
Understanding dawns on Danny’s face at that.
“Here, let me show you,” he says, nodding to the doors before zooming through.
Jason follows, anger simmering under his skin - fully his own, for the first time in years.
“Library,” Danny says as Jason comes to float beside him, “May I please see The Guide to Phantom Palace?”
A book soars from a wall shelf to float, wiggling in front of him like an eager puppy.
“Thank you!” Danny says brightly, before turning to hand the book to Jason.
“The library is sentient,” he explains. “Good manners are key, by the way - Jazz is in charge, but the library can and will kick people out if they're rude or incautious with food and drinks.”
Jason stares at the book in his hand a moment, frustrated at the simplicity of it and the hour he spent looking aimlessly, but at least a bit soothed at the presence of a way to actually find things - even if the organization still makes no sense.
“Why the emotional organization system, then?” He finally asks.
“That’s for Jazz,” Danny answers. “This library is a part of some psychology project she’s doing - the return system, at least. Ask the library for the book you want - or you can ask for suggestions based on certain criteria. It’s sentient, it can help you find things - and when you’re done with it you put it back where you think it should be based on your own emotions.
Or if you don’t want to participate you can just put your books back on the shelf by the desk and Jazz will rearrange them however she sees fit.”
“Psychology project?” Jason asks after pause.
“Ah, you’d have to ask her. She told me all about it when it was first getting set up, but as much as I tried to understand it, it was all Greek to me.”
“Anyway!” he claps, “Now for the rest!”
The rest of Jazz’s section seems to follow the psychology theme.
A rage room that looks well-loved - battered, glowing clubs and a variety of damaged items from tech to glass to dummies that appeared to be slowly healing themselves.
A soothing room full of soft things and calming music and candles and even a few flowers.
A sound-proof room for quiet, a therapy room for meeting with ‘patients.’ Then of course there were the business meeting, paperwork, sitting, and nap rooms. And a combat room.
The nap, combat, and sitting rooms seemed to be shared, with the second part of the section - Spike’s - branching off from the sitting room.
Spike, of course, had his own cursed paperwork and meeting rooms.
Then came the ‘this is the home of an artist’ rooms.
An enormous circular room was dedicated to acting as a color wheel, the walls slowly shifting from deepest reds to darkest indigos, with every shade and color in between. In the center of the floor was the darkest shade of black, radiating out to a blinding white where it met the walls - the ceiling was the opposite, a bright white dot radiating darker until it met the walls as a void-like black.
A room filled with sketches and paintings, a room full of blank or half-made canvases with pencils and paints and brushes floating all around - seemingly where they’d been abandoned, a room full of miniature landscapes matching both locations he’d seen on earth and the strange landmasses he’d seen on the journey to the castle. And then what Danny called an archive room, where Spike stored older projects that he no longer wished to display.
Skalfred found them just as Danny finished explaining the room.
“Perfect timing!” Danny grins, turning to Jason. “Race you there?"
They’re near the library. Jason knows the way.
He zips around Skalfred and out the door in lieu of an answer.
He can just faintly hear Danny sputtering, ‘You cheater!’ coming out around the echoing laughter behind him.
Fun Facts!
Elle’s name - she initially chose Dani because she didn’t want to change herself just to differentiate herself from Danny - lots of people have the same name, and she has just as much right to it as Danny.
But it also made her feel too much like a copy and less like a person - especially with the confusion when she started living with the Fentons.
Then Jazz suggested Elle would be a nice name - it’s part of her name already and it’s like Elle Woods, known badass. They then watched legally blonde, and Dani decided it was a really cool name and started going by Elle. She’s a lot happier with it - no more discomfort when being spoken too, and they can still call her Dani when she and Danny are both in the room and they want to annoy the Observants or other people by doing The Bit(™) [both pointing to themselves ‘who me’ - other person, also in on the bit, facepalming and saying ‘Danny’ - them ‘which Danny.’ Of course no one told the observants Dani also goes by Elle. One time one got tired of it and went ‘Obviously the Danny with the crown of fire.’ And Danny makes the Crown of Fire appear (separate little mini-rings-transformation) at the same time Elle pulls a Burger King Crown actively on fire from her Halfa Pocket Space and they both go ‘which crown of fire’ and it is by the blessing of not having organs alone that the observant in question did not immediately have an aneurysm from sheer, apoplectic rage.]
Palu - Danny is a dog person, Elle is a cat person. Palu is named for Cath Palug - the closest thing I could find to a cat-equivalent of Cujo’s namesake. Same neon-green fur as Cujo, but all-purple eyes. Palu can be the size of a cat (around twice Cujo’s puppy-size), but can get up to the size of a horse (just slightly smaller than Cujo’s max). Unfortunately, Palu is very fond of Being Enormous And Also Hunting Everything That Moves That Isn’t Dani, so they put her in one of Sam’s conservation areas where she’d be happy. She liked it enough to move her lair - an incredibly large pet-bed in a small forest of cat trees - and Dani visits whenever she wants to see her.
“Fuck,” Este cursed, as a loud sound in the flat below hers caused her to spill a drop of tea on her pants. She quickly wiped it away and got up to grab her beloved Tide pen—drawing on the spot to prevent any staining.
With a film on the TV, it was a quiet morning and a relaxing day off for her. She stayed in comfy clothes, hair tucked away messily in a clip, not worrying about work or bills needing to be paid or how desperately her room needed tidying. Her body had been stationary for most of the morning. It was a deserved laziness, in her opinion. But, a buzz from her phone signalled an incoming text, interrupting her and her tea once more.
Thinking of you x
It was a photo of a small yellow origami star. He held it delicately between his thumb and middle finger, raising it up in the air in front of his hotel window. Este could see the architecture of the city he stayed in in the background. Germany, I think, she considered, though she couldn’t remember which city.
Hey, I know it’s been hard lately and that you’ve been busy writing but this poem makes me happy and I think you need some hope at the moment
Attachment: 1 Image
Maybe you’ve heard of it already or will think it’s too simple but it's what I want to say to u :)
Matty’s heavy eyes stared at the bright blue light of his screen. The band were closing out on their sixth month of touring, and his head had gotten a bit cloudy. Desperate to get Notes On A Conditional Form out as soon as possible, any free moments they had were spent writing and recording. He poured so much of himself during every show and even more into every song written that not much was left when he was on his own. It was nonstop. Slumps like this were bound to occur while on the road, and now that Matty had healthier ways of coping with them, they weren’t as big of a deal. But they were still there, eating away at his energy—blurring the lines of his self esteem and self hatred.
The poem Este attached was “The Orange” by Wendy Cope. He hadn’t heard of it before. So, he read the words quietly to himself.
“At lunchtime I bought a huge orange—the size of it made us all laugh. I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave—they got quarters and I had a half.
And that orange, it made me so happy, as ordinary things often do. Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park. This is peace and contentment. It's new.
The rest of the day was quite easy. I did all the jobs on my list and enjoyed them and had some time over. I love you. I'm glad I exist.”
Este was right about it being simple. But it was its simplicity that made Matty feel it deeply in his stomach. If he’d been sent such words by any other person in the world, it might have felt patronising—but coming from her, it made sense. There wasn’t anything that he loved more than things, art, that commanded him how to feel. Este knew that. And the words she sent commanded him to find light in the simple things. To bask in the innocence of life. To realise that if he isn’t happy, he’s just human. Fleeting moments of beauty are what matter. It was exactly what he needed to hear.
--- 1 July, 2019
Luckily, flying from Stockholm back to Manchester wasn’t very far. So, it was easy for Matty to get on a plane to catch Este’s 28th birthday between his shows. He was a day early, but it was the only chance he had to come see her—so he took it. And somehow managed to keep it a surprise.
With Cate’s help, Matty followed through with his plan to Uber to their flat as soon as he landed; to drop off his stuff, grab food, and set up birthday decorations before walking over to Greenhouse to see Este. A bouquet of variously coloured tulips with brown paper surrounding it was cradled in his arms as he made his way. The sun peeked through the partly cloudy sky, beaming down on his tired state. He shook the nerves out and reached for the door handle.
The familiar chime caught him by surprise, as the seven months it had been since he’d last stepped into the shop forced him to forget that they were there. It brought Este’s attention to the front from her spot in the back corner where she was shelving. Sam poked his head out from the back room in curiosity.
“I heard an ‘Este Manansala’ turns 28 tomorrow…” Matty announced sarcastically before she realised who he was. The look on her face once she did was priceless.
“Oh my god. Shut up,” muttered Este as she weaved through the cramped furniture to embrace him excitedly. A giddy and uncontrollably happy laugh came from her belly had Matty leaned back while they hugged to lift her feet off the orange carpet.
“Happy Birthday, love.” he whispered in her ear before putting her down. Este tried to wipe the dumb smile on her face but failed. She kissed him instead.
Matty tasted like cigarette smoke and smelt of the flowers he held. The month between their last kiss didn’t stop her from recognizing the familiar shape of his lips when they were against hers. It lingered long and deep. They sighed into each other with satisfaction.
“What are you doing here? You’re mad,” reacted Este when they pulled away.
“To take you out on your birthday.” His hand remained on her cheek as he responded, enjoying the feeling of her soft skin. “And by ‘take you out’ I mean take you to the food I’ve put on your dining room table.”
“Have you already been by my flat?”
Matty nodded. “Went straight there after I landed. We boarded early, so Cate said I almost caught you before you left.” He laughed at the dumbfounded look on Este’s face as she struggled to accept the fact that he was real and face-to-face with her. His arms extended to shove the flowers into her grasp. Tulips were her favourite.
“Are you going to introduce me?” His finger pointed at Sam. “Or will you just stare at me with your mouth open right in front of your boss?”
She snapped out of it and turned to face the blond shop owner.
“Gosh, I’m sorry. Sam, this is Matty. My, um, my—”
“Nice to meet you, mate. I’ve been in here a couple times over the years and seen you then, but I’m glad to be formally introduced, I guess,” interrupted Matty.
It was a bit odd that he cut her off so quickly, as the timing allowed her to almost hear his fear of the topic—audibly in his voice. Her smile faltered slightly as the two men made small talk, and she spiralled silently about what she could’ve said. I should’ve just stopped at ‘This is Matty,’ instead of trying to explain who he is, thought Este. Did Matty think I was going to say he was my boyfriend? Do I want him to be my boyfriend? Does the idea of me thinking he’s my boyfriend scare him?
Her ears perked and she snapped back into the conversation when Matty mentioned that they should be taking off soon.
“Food might be getting cold by now, E. We should get going,”
“Matty, it’s half two.” She looked over at Sam for confirmation that she couldn’t just leave in the middle of her shift, but was met with a smug smile instead.
“Go on.” he encouraged with little explanation.
“Who’s going to look after the—“
“Oliver’s on his way. He wanted extra hours this week anyway.”
Guilt settled into Este’s chest. “You didn’t have to call him in and make him rush over just for me, Sam. I feel terrible,”
“I didn’t call him in. I put him down for a three o’clock start when I made his schedule last month.” Sam reassured, as he came around the counter to stand in front and lean on it. He crossed his arms, waiting for Este to accept that he had been in on the plan to let her off early.
But, she didn’t let down. “Then why would you schedule me as well?”
“Jesus Christ Este, to surprise you! Now please leave, I’m begging. I can’t take this any longer,” Sam said while laughing in her face and forcing her towards the door. “Happy early birthday.”
“How long have you had this planned?” asked Este, turning to Matty and waiting for a response.
“A while. Any more questions, or can we go?”
-
Este’s arm tangled within Matty’s as they walked the few blocks back home along the pavement. Her work bag was slung over his shoulder as she held the tulips and sniffed them occasionally for the comfort of their fresh smell. Now that the shock had disappeared and she had the time to fully take in his appearance, Este smiled at his outfit. The Vans tied round his feet were paired with a bright and fitted graphic tee, tucked into high-waisted green trousers.
“You’re staring at me.”
A giggle escaped her lips as her and Matty turned down her street and approached her flat. “Am I not allowed to?” she argued.
He shrugged, with a smile. “I don’t mind. Just want to know why.”
“Dunno, really. You’re just pretty. And I like your outfit.”
Her keys jingled when she pulled them out of her pocket to let them into the building. As they stepped in and through the next couple of doors, soon finding and pressing the ‘up’ button for the lift, Matty said, “You know, you’d think I’d be weird about you calling me ‘pretty’, but it actually felt quite nice.”
“I can call you ‘pretty’ more often, if you want. I think of it all the time, so I’d just have to start letting you know when I do,” Este suggested, turning her doorknob and entering her place.
There was a banner of letters that spelled out ‘happy birthday’ delicately strung across the wall that sat above the dining room table. The decoration was slightly crooked, but colourful and iridescent—so the sun pouring in through the window bounced off of them and shone glittery reflections all over the room. Floaty balloons were trapped against the ceiling with their strings hanging downwards at different lengths. A vase of water was the centrepiece, ready to be the home for the tulips that Este still held as she looked around. Her eyes travelled to everything else littered on the table; noticing the handful of tall tapered candles whose colours matched that of the flowers, confetti scattered across the surface of the stained wood, a bottle of wine, and a couple of takeaway bags.
A nervous Matty stood behind and waited for her to say something. When silence remained, as she continued to search for ways to thank him, he filled the space by slinging his arm around her shoulder and rubbing it gently.
Bringing his face next to hers, Matty asked, “Do you like it?” and pecked her temple.
“Does the general public know that you’re this soft of a bloke?”
He shook his head at her inability to take things seriously. “They’ll catch on eventually.”
Este laughed and turned to him, grabbing his chin, pulling it towards her to give him a kiss on the cheek back. “It’s perfect. You have a good eye,”
“Cate helped pick everything out. I’m not the best decorator. But she was busy dealing with the helium tank to fill all the balloons so I ended up laying everything out by myself in a rush. That’s why it looks a bit shit.” Matty explained, pointing at the crooked letters on the wall.
“Stop it,” she insisted, unwrapping the tulips to dip their stems in the vase and complete the decor. “There’s nothing ‘shit’ about you. It would’ve been enough even if you’d shown up empty handed and sat on the sofa with me all night.”
Stepping closer to the table to copy her, Matty unpacked the food he’d ordered for them. He uncorked the bottle and poured a glass of wine for each of them. She sat down, getting comfortable and increasingly hungry as her stomach rumbled. Hearing its noises and laughing, the two of them dug in.
Once their plates were scraped clean, Matty threw out a “Room for cake?” while a smile sat on his face, knowing they were both too stuffed to even sniff something sweet.
She cradled her full belly, slouching in her chair. “I can’t bring myself to turn down cake but I’m frightened that like, anatomically, it won’t fit in here.”
Matty got up and walked to the fridge to fetch it anyway. “Let's just do the whole ‘sing and blow out the candles’ thing. We can eat it later.”
The white box was set on the table. He let her open the lid and slide out the dessert herself. It was a small heart-shaped cake with light green and white piped icing, reading ‘Happy 28th Este’ across the top. Bright maraschino cherries lined its edge. She grinned at how perfect and delicate it was. A 2 and an 8 candle were peeled out of their package by Matty, who stuck them into the icing, getting a bit on his finger in the process and licking it. Once a match was struck and the wicks were ignited, Matty sang the classic song to her gently.
“Happy birthday to you,” he finished with the last line, maintaining eye contact from across the table.
Este’s brown irises glowed a honey colour from the warmth of the flickering fire, while her cheeks ached from the smile plastered onto it that refused to leave. Looking down to the cake to avoid confronting Matty’s phone that now pointed up at her as he took a picture, she paused to make a wish. He admired her through his screen. A couple of seconds passed before she finally blew out the flames.
As expected, they couldn’t bear the idea of eating a slice. So, they packed it up into its box and placed it back in her fridge, continuing to clean their lunchtime mess, collecting the dishes in the sink and tucking their seats in. But, Matty knew that the corny birthday celebrations weren’t over just yet—he still had her small pile of wrapped presents sat next to his bag, which he then picked up and brought over.
“You really didn’t need to get me anything. All of this is so great already,” she complained, guilty that she hadn’t done anything for his birthday, and gesturing to everything he’d done so far.
They found comfort on her fluffy sofa as he shook his head.
“It’s just something small. Don’t worry.” reassured Matty, who set the three rectangular gifts in her lap. They were similar in shape and size, individually & messily wrapped in patterned paper. He watched as Este’s apprehensive fingertips ripped through the material and revealed what was beneath it.
Of course they’re books, she thought, smiling at how predictable the two of them were. But, what she saw next caught her by surprise. As the other two got unwrapped, Este came to realise that they were all books she had been desperate to read. The shock came from the fact that she hadn’t ever mentioned the titles to Matty, and that as she flipped through them, they were written in. Sticky tabbed, underlined, and starred lines jumped out to catch her attention. Her mouth remained agape for a minute.
“How did you know that I’ve been wanting these?”
“Just looked at that app you showed me during Big Weekend. Came in handy,” he explained. “I picked the five from your ‘to read’ list that seemed the most interesting to me but only ended up getting to finish these three.”
“See, I told you it’s useful.” She laughed in disbelief as she inspected each novel. “Did you really read all of these and write in them for me?”
Matty nodded, grabbing one and looking through it himself. “They’re all great. Helped quiet down my thoughts, I think, since they’ve been too loud lately. Plus, they’re kind of like letters—everything I marked as important or stand-out, and every note I wrote in the margins was done with you in mind. Written for you. It made it fun,”
Este pulled him in for an embrace, squeezing him with delight. A couple of repeated pecks landed on his cheek.
“This is so thoughtful of you, Matty. I don’t know what to say,”
He kissed her once she finished speaking. Her lips had a minty flavour to them.
“So what did you wish for? When you blew out your candles?” Matty wondered aloud, while turning sideways and crossing his legs over one another, to face her fully.
Este copied him. “It won’t come true if I tell you,” she defended, “But there is something I was thinking of getting for my birthday.”
“And what’s that?”
“Do you know of a good piercer around here?”
-
Less than ten minutes later, Matty and Este found themselves walking side by side into the heart of downtown Manchester. Affleck’s was their destination; and the journey was short and sweet. She’d explained to him that she loved the adrenaline of getting pierced and was in the mood for some change. Since The Studio, the piercing and tattoo parlour within the beloved market, took walk-ins, they wasted no time before heading out of the flat with determination.
It was the early evening on a Monday, so there weren’t many people around, and there wasn’t a wait to get seen by a piercer. A couple of waivers were signed before Este winced in pain from the needle going through the cartilage between her nostrils.
Matty held her hand while it happened and hissed painfully alongside her as she squeezed his fingers to brace herself. The minute he complained that she was hurting him, Este gave him a death stare as the needle still sat in her nose and the piercer prepared the jewellery for insertion. Clearly her pain was a bit more intense than his. He got the message.
After it was done, she was handed a mirror to take a look. Este liked the symmetry of the new silver hoop that went through her septum; how it balanced out the weight of the plethora of jewellery stacked on either of her ears. She grinned at her reflection.
“I love it, thank you so much!” said Este, to the piercer. She then looked over to Matty, waiting for his opinion. He reached out to flick a piece of fluff out of her hair, lovingly.
“You’re like my little bull.”
There were stars in his eyes.
With their mission accomplished, they wandered around the rest of the shops without any intention of buying anything else. Her arm was linked with his. They pointed at mannequins clad in heinous clothing to make fun of them and people watched.
“Want to see something funny?” asked Matty as they approached a stairwell far too familiar to him.
“Depends on what it is.”
He dragged her up the first flight and Este’s eyes scanned over its walls. Every inch was covered in posters. A certain one caught her eye, and she instantly knew what he was referencing. Young Ross, Adam, Matty, and George were displayed on an angsty black and white poster near the floor, casually accompanied by ones of David Bowie, The Smiths, and Bob Dylan. Este couldn’t help but laugh at how different Matty looked in the dramatically contrasted shot.
“My god, look at the state of your hair!” she teased.
“A lot of people actually want me to bring the shaved sides back, you know.”
She stepped back and held her phone up, gesturing for him to pose for a picture next to the silly anecdote, still laughing. “I can’t even recall how many times I’ve walked up these stairs without even noticing your little face down there.”
Matty kept a straight face and held up his hand in a thumbs-down position for her photo. “I like to come here whenever I’m in town and have the time to. Seems to get smaller every time.”
“Okay, granddad.”
-
Their legs grew tired of sauntering around with no objective, so soon enough, they collapsed back onto Este’s sofa. She lazily put something random on the telly and sprawled her legs across Matty’s lap—laying down while he sat upward. Rhythmic circles were traced onto the skin right above her ankles by his fingertips as they happily relaxed in the privilege of doing nothing, but together. The lack of plans helped them appreciate every minute passing; how they somehow seemed to pass by slower and feel sweeter as they sat in each other’s company.
In need of the toilet, Este forced herself to leave the nestled position they’d spent the recent hours in. The chill enveloping Matty after her body warmth was no longer draped across him made him frown. But, she came back quickly, and wasn’t even gone long enough to need to ask him what she’d missed on the episode of Bake Off that flashed on her TV screen.
Returning to Matty and the sofa, she decided to sit on top of him. Her knees were on either side of his hips. He smirked at her forward and suddenly bold demeanour as his hands found themselves on Este’s arse. They were comfortable there.
“Have a good wee?” Matty asked with a laugh.
“Yeah, great actually. Thanks.” Her fingers combed through the long and shaggy section of his hair, near the front, to part it down the centre and tuck the curls behind his ears. Seeing more of his face was the goal in her action. “You look pretty.” she repeated, from earlier. Matty’s smirk morphed into a closed-mouth smile at the sound of her niceties.
“I feel pretty with you on top of me.” he retaliated, suspending the suggestive mood she initiated.
Este’s hands remained on either side of his neck when he brought her lips down to meet his. They moved against one another delicately, but both wanted more. It was only a matter of time before the lust between them escalated the heat of the moment. So, she deepened their kiss, pulling Matty in closer and shifting her hips to feel more of him and humming in the process. She winced when his nose brushed against hers and her fresh piercing, but it didn’t stop her.
The friction she created over his bulge made him groan. He pinched the skin at her waist with greed as his hands crept beneath her top. It only encouraged Este to continue with her fluid movements, his pants growing tighter.
As much as Matty wanted to revel in the pleasure of his girl hovering above him—one of his favourite places for her to be—he considered the fact that it was her birthday. Her day. The thought made him want to try something new.
“Can I make you feel good?” he whispered, breaking their lips apart for air and to squeeze his question into the muggy air.
She nodded against him, beginning to climb off of his lap to lay on her back; assuming Matty wanted to go down on her. But, he stopped her before she could. Instead, he just sat up straighter, nearer to the edge of the cushion beneath them, and used his hands to position her straddle over only one of his legs. He wanted Este to ride his thigh.
They didn’t bother taking off any of their clothes. His hands guided her back and forth, her eyes fluttering shut in indulgence as the seam of her shorts and the pressure of his leg pressed against her clit. She bit back a moan with her bottom lip trapped between her teeth.
“Let me hear you, E.” encouraged Matty. Obliging, the next roll of her hips dragged a string of profanity out of her throat. “That’s better.”
The tightness in her lower stomach grew. Hot breath cycled between them as they breathed through their mouths during the lulls that found their lips no longer tangled together. Este could feel his hard-on when the top of her thigh came forward to graze it, growing wetter and closer to her climax by the second. She was a mess, and putty in Matty’s hands.
His eyes were glued to her. The way she moved and moaned his name with determination drove him insane, and made it hard for him to ignore the throbbing in his pants. Her face dropped into his neck, scratching at his skin softly with her teeth as she whined.
“Harder,” Este muttered, clearly getting close. He listened to her command and used his hands to bring her heat along his leg with aggression. The increased force made her cry out into him, head still hidden beneath his jaw.
Matty let her moans heighten in pitch, feeling her start to shake against him. But, suddenly, his hands slowed down her movements. “No,” he told her, “Not yet.”
Cruelly, he deprived her of the feeling she was chasing. A gentler and slower pace continued, much to Este’s dismay, as she quietly begged for more.
“Matty, please,” fell from her lips with desperation.
In response, he began building up the pressure, but at a snail’s pace. Her hips buckled forward in attempts for any pleasure she could get.
“Ask me one more time, baby.”
Her thick hair fell around her face, sticking to her sweaty skin as her head spun. “I need to come. Please, let me,” she forced out to him between her heavy breathing, and as soon as Matty heard her words, he tightened his grip and encouraged her hips to move faster. The sudden boom of resistance on her sensitive core drew more noises from her mouth as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Este could almost see stars. Only a couple seconds of him grinding her against him and uttering filth into her ear finally brought her to her orgasm, the convulsed muscles in her abdomen releasing their pressure. A wet patch soaked through her shorts and onto Matty’s when she moaned his name. The two of them slowed to a stop to catch their breath and kiss hungrily once more. A giddy expression couldn’t be wiped from her face if she tried.
When she gained a bit of her composure back, still sat on Matty’s lap, she took note of the almost concerning amount of sweat that encompassed their skin and the now dirty clothing they were wearing. “I think I need a shower,” Este decided.
Matty scoffed. “You’re going to leave and take a shower? When this is what you did to me?” he pointed to his crotch in disbelief. He was painfully hard.
Giggling and with a shrug, she responded, “Then come with.”
--- 2 July, 2019
That night, they washed the perspiration off of each other (after the shower head Este promised) and threw on comfy clothes. Both exhausted, they planned on climbing into her bed—but when Matty caught The Goonies popping up on the TV out in the lounge, they ended up staying awake.
Not for much longer, though. They must have only seen ten minutes of the cult classic film before dozing off and spending the night with their jumbled limbs squished together on the sofa. Aching muscles were a theme of the morning that followed.
It was reasonably early when they woke. Matty remembered to wish Este happy birthday the minute he learned she was conscious, showering her face in playful pecks. She didn’t want to do anything more with her day though, and thought yesterday was kind enough for him to plan. A quiet day in with Matty by her side was what she wanted. So they did exactly that, and stayed round her flat to do more nothings. It was peaceful. It was needed.
The annoying thing was that Este didn’t allow him to smoke in the house. When it was a joint, cracking a window was fine—as she frequently did so herself—but she forced him to take his cigarettes outside. As Matty needed another one, she followed him down, to soak up all of him she could get.
But, in the back of her mind, Este knew she was looking for a moment to be serious with him. Have a conversation about what had been fogging her conscience since he surprised her at Greenhouse the previous day.
Leaning against the wall of her building while he took a drag next to her, she mustered up the courage.
“So,” she started quietly, “Do you see other people?”
Percy settled as comfortably as possible on a nearby log and busied himself with sketching. He enjoyed the close observation that revealed all the little details—how the leaves’ edges grew jagged, how thin veins webbed the lighter green undersides. He could not attest to exactly how much time he passed this way, only that the sun was descending from its zenith when he was at last satisfied with his drawing. Mild hunger panged his stomach, and he decided he would eat his sandwich and then head back.
Before closing his sketchbook, he reached for one of the leaves. He could press and preserve it, perhaps start a record of the variety of plants he finds in the area. It would be something to do until his workshop was finished, at least.
“I’d recommend against that, darling.”
Percy snatched his hand back and whipped towards the voice, every nerve in his body alight. He felt himself reflexively reaching for the rapier at his hip, though he was at a poor angle to draw it.
A woman leaned against a tree a few meters away, watching him impassively. Her long dark hair was pulled into a braid and woven with vines, and a pair of fresh green leaves were tucked into the locks behind her right ear. She was dressed somewhat plainly in earth-toned clothes that fit loosely around her for ease of movement.
But Percy’s attention snagged on the bow she held casually in one hand. He couldn’t help thinking about how fast she might be able to draw from the quiver on her back, how good her aim might be.
Diplomacy, as ever, was his first recourse. Still, he kept his thumb on the guard of his rapier, out of her line of sight.
“Indeed?” he asked.
She smiled, though her expression was void of mirth. “Indeed,” she replied. “Unless you’d like a nasty rash, of course.”
His gaze had wandered to her face, but movement snapped it back to the bow. She’d made no motion to raise it, though—the bow itself seemed to have an eerie life, the vines he’d taken for intricate etchings twisting and resettling. Ah, he realized. And now that he was looking for more oddities, he could see fine lines of faint green meandering along her exposed skin, as if she had vines in lieu of veins.
He forced himself to meet her dark eyes. “And it would have nothing to do with stealing from a faerie’s wood?”
Her smile sharpened. “That might have its own consequences, yes.”
Oddly, this eased his nerves. There were rules here—strange, dangerous rules, but rules nonetheless. Full of quicksand as it may be, it was a field he was familiar with. “I hope I’m not trespassing, at the least.”
“Not by my ken,” she said. “Though I hear there’s a new lord at the manor.”
Percy wet his lips. “I have his permission,” he said. “I should like yours, as well.”
Her eyes raked up and down him, considering. There was an edge to her, a hunger, like a void that could never be filled, and it made Percy feel distinctly hunted. It set his heart racing in a way he didn’t entirely mind.
At last, she said, “Well, you do seem to know your manners. Continue to mind them, and I’ll allow it.”
“Is there anything else I ought to mind?” Percy asked.
She tapped her chin in thought, though he had a feeling she already knew. “Stay out of the darkest woods,” she said. “Where even noonday sun struggles to reach through the leaves.”
Ominous. He liked it. “Very reasonable,” he replied. “This is a lovely forest, and I am grateful to have your leave of exploring it.”
She acknowledged this with a hum. “If you’re to be here regularly, we may as well have some proper introduction. What might I call you?”
It wasn’t outright asking for his name, but Percy still knew better than to give it. She was testing him, seeing if he’d let down his guard now that they’d struck an accord. In a fit of daring he was previously unaware he possessed, he answered, “I believe ‘darling’ will do.”
Delight sparked in her expression, cracking through the cool mask she’d worn so far, and she threw her head back and laughed. She kept laughing as she disappeared back into the trees, her light chuckle echoing like the call of a magpie long after she was gone.
