CALICO JACK: the entire reason im making this post and the entire reason i even thought abt this poll longer than 2 seconds is bc i immediately wrote him off for several reasons and then saw that he was WINNING and i need to set the record straight. first of all, calico jack does not have cybertruck money. those things are going for like $100k right now, cj has $30 in his savings and he does not have the credit score necessary to get himself a goddamned cybertruck. second of all the car calico jack owns is like a ford something or other and it's one million years old and does not pass inspection but it DOES have a pair of truck nuts dangling off the back. you know that video with the red truck speeding through an open field with cinder blocks on it?? that’s jack’s truck

A BADMINTON: i could see it, and i know this is insane bc OP said they're interchangeable and the ARE but i could see it with nigel specifically. my first thought was that ppl who own cybertrucks aren't usually RICH rich like that, but also there's a certain type of arrogant morons who like to showboat their wealth but also are dumb and have bad taste and i think nigel is that type of guy. im thinking abt him going out of his way to hang out with stede just to bully him and make fun of his ship and i think nigel would think owning a cybertruck is some sort of flex. chauncey is less interested in tormenting stede for the hell of it and more into just straight-up trying to kill stede by any means necessary and something abt the single-minded goal of it makes me think chauncey's a bit more pragmatic and less into the showboating compared to his brother (yeah there are like Reasons why nigel might seem a bit more lighthearted than chauncey, only one of them is trying to avenge his brother when we meet him, but also who cares it's the fucking badmintons lol). the car(s) chauncey owns isn't flashy but it is pricey.

PRINCE RICKY: this man is like distant british royalty, i dont think he even learned how to drive until he decided he wanted to follow stede's path and run away to become a modern au equivalent of a pirate. after learning to drive with a private tutor he went out and bought a used audi that was one year old and had less than 5k miles on it and that was him "roughing it"

IZZY: so i voted for him bc i think the aesthetics PERFECTLY fit him but after thinking abt it i would probably change my vote to a badminton. izzy sees cars as a necessary tool to take him where he needs to go and his only requirement is that the color of his car is black. he only buys a new car when the one he has is so old that it's worth more to fix than to replace, and so the only situation where izzy would buy a cybertruck is if he happened to be due for a new car at the same time that the cybertruck was coming out. i think in that scenario the aesthetic kinship he would feel for the truck would be enough to make him buy one even though it's more than he usually spends on cars and it's not his usual sedan. and then he would get in the car and drive it two miles and the software would fail and the car would completely die

STEDE: would not buy a cybertruck simply bc they are ugly. he has better taste than that

DECEMBER IS OVER!!! New Year, What's Next?

Well chat, with literally three minutes to spare we finished out DCA December IN December, and then of course you got a little bonus thingy as well hehe :)

So! Having said that, wanted to take a moment to talk about some plans, what to expect to see from me next, and so on

Okay! Now to get into it, below the cut just so people dont have to scorll through my rambling plans & such (there is a POLL however that even if you skip my nonsense you should vote in pretty please ^-^)

So, despite some shortcomings with me getting a bit behind (curse you sinus infection & finals week) I'm really happy with how this went!

I'll be taking a break for a bit and def will NOT be posting as much as I did near the end there, BUT I'll still be writing per usual, especially since I have two weeks left to my break. Before I get into what you can expect to see, wanted to do a quick interest check on whether people would like me to do something similar for Valentine's!

Since I'll be back at college again I won't be able to do a full month again, buuuut, I should be able to handle 14 days worth, if the interest is there I would open up requests probably the last week of January so I had time to get started/ahead. So,

Rules would be the same as for DCA December, except with a Valentine's Theme!

Now that that's taken care of, here's what'll be going on with me as we start 2025!

I'm working on Holiday Spirit ch. 2, should be posting either today or tomorrow! Still aiming to get it done before I go back to school so expect quicker updates now that requests are finished :) (you can find out more about this story here)

Confused Spirit ch. 36 is also in the works! I'll be honest in that my sinus infection JUST cleared up a week or so ago, and additionally i've been facing a bit of writer's block with the story just bc of where we're at and I want to make sure it's really good/properly expresses what I'm going for with this fic, but I'm working on getting more out to you all soon, as well as working on getting ahead again while I have time, thank you all for your paitence with this one, it's very appreciated <3 (if you don't know about Confused Spirit, you can find out more here, it's my current main dca project :D)

DCA December will be reviewed for spelling and grammar mistakes and be uploaded to ao3 throughout January, if you'd like to read anything again (or you're wanting to get caught up and have a better reading experience) you can see the masterpost here, which will have the ao3 link once I get started on editing

Getting into non-fic things, I'll also be working on organizing my blog so things are easier to find as I know it's a bit messy currently >_< bear with me as it gets fixed up

I really want to improve on my art! After collecting things up for my 2024 art summary, i realized I've improved a lot but still have more room to grow (and many ideas that I want to see made by a more skilled hand >~<) so, expect to see some art things from me floating around including but not limited to: my trick or treat responses (im sorry these are so late, it's brutal out here), Cast of CS refs, more Holiday Spirit doodles, magma things, CS chapter promos, & new refs for the CS boys! there's some more things i have planned but I am keeping them a secret for now ;)

I voted for maybe in ur poll bc i want it but my real answer is no... i love bdsm aspect so much but most media dont really explore it enough and even kantbison hasnt gotten to bdsm after that failed scene. BUT i havent given up hope yet bc joong and dunk said they had very "spicy" scenes and wouldnt that fit when they still havent made up with each other yet? maybe ep9? i'm just really in love with style bc we dont get bratty and cocky subs very often and he's so gooood.

Style is SO good. He's very unusual as a character, as is his relationship with Fadel. The closest I can think is maybe Fiat and Leo, but even then there are a LOT of differences.

And yeah, BDSM isn't well explored in media. BL shows often include a power dynamic of sorts, but it's almost never actually discussed, it's just all vibes. I'm very disappointed that we got an actual discussion about BDSM in this show, including consent and safewords, but the couple who had that discussion aren't really kinky, while the couple that DIDN'T have that discussion very much are. And Fadel and Style are unlikely to ever talk about it. Which is deeply frustrating.

But back to the poll question, I really don't know if they'll have aggressive sex or not. I could see Style initiating and Fadel refusing. I could see Fadel getting pissed and throwing Style against a wall to initiate angry sex. I could also see him pulling away after kissing Style for a minute instead of going through with it. I do find it unlikely that Style would refuse sex if Fadel wanted it, though. I think Style would LOVE for Fadel to violently fuck him.

Remember, i want this to be very much a collaborative AU, so i'm planning on doing a bunch of polls, taking ideas from other people who like this AU, and sharing a lot of my thoughts before they're even finished. this whole idea came about because i was seeing people complain about the pacing of the show and i was so confused because i thought the pacing was perfect and then i thought maybe it's because i have adhd and so of course i would think the pacing was great and so i ran a poll to look at the results and here are those results

important things to note

i did a poll comparing if you have adhd and if you like the show, these were the results (and here so you can see how i wanted people to answer)

(yes i voted, my opinion also counts)(and yes, there are flaws in the design but i only had 12 options and this was mainly about adhd)

and idk about you but looking at those numbers i can see a few things

number 1: most people like the show, 87.8% in fact

and if you take out the people that didn't care, it's 92.9% of people who did care aka a lot

quick stats rundown

for everyone with adhd (thats the first 6 options) 3% didn't like the show

for those with other neurodiversities and not adhd, it was 12%

yeah, thats 4 times higher (it works out at a whole 2 people but again, limits of the poll)

ANYWAY, i ran some statistical tests (don't stress, i don't understand them either, i will not be focussing on them)

first, chi squared (compares expected values for each option with the actual values i got)

yeah that number is small, like very small, like 2.8 quintillionths

but i ran it in R and got a very different number

and oh lookie here that's a p-value about 0.05 and so we must accept the null hypothesis (basically that yeah, that's expected)

which makes NO SENSE but whatever, the computer tells me it's that

enough of chi-squared, i also ran a z-test (i googled what to do and apparently this was the right test, idk what it does ngl)

i didn't run this one in R bc i have no idea how to do that

but the p-value is again, about 0.05 and so accept that there is no significant difference

idk, i think the sample size is too small to run accurate tests, that or im doing it wrong which is a very high probability

3rd party voters and voting will NEVER have the sheer mass and force enough to rival the republican party, because the majority of 3rd party voters are left leaning or people who would normally vote blue. and until we throw out the old voting system and replace it with a ranked voting system, all 3rd party voters are doing is ensuring a republican win.

im not even into politics, but i know for sure i dont want a fascist in office. i know we're all tired too. im a queer goddamn anarchist punk, and god i hate to say it, but you HAVE to vote, and you HAVE to VOTE BLUE if you dont want to see project 2025 go into motion and lose your rights to exist as a person. the only way to start making a change in an awful system that's so overbearing like this one is to ensure the people who want to use the system for their own personal benefits don't get to.

(and if you're like me and you want to vote independent/3rd party, the only way to do that is to establish a ranked voting system. and the only way to do that is to vote blue RIGHT NOW, because republicans sure as shit aren't going to implement such a helpful and fair thing.)

One of the problems I have with a lot of the voters is that they often don’t vote on what episode they think is better. They vote on what episode has that character they like. Right now they are voting for What happened to Della Duck, but the reasons are not “incredible storytelling, acting work and emotional beats” but “DELLA BEST GIRL FR”. Now here it’s more understandable because everyone knows that episode is a banger, but for some of the other ones we see it as well. People are voting for The town where everyone was nice over The ballad of Duke Baloney. The only reasoning I have yet seen is “BECAUSE THE THREE CABS ARE SO GAY AND MY LOVE”. Not a single soul has said that the episode itself actually is good. Same with The great dime chase vs Daytrip of doom. People could talk about how it characterizes Louie, the tension in the episode, or its significance later in the series, but with very few exceptions, people mostly just say “Gyro” and nothing else. Now I see it slowly happening with the Fethry episode as well. Vote for the Fethry episode! Why? Because Fethry! Sounds good to me! No it doesn’t.

They don’t even seem to care about the episodes anymore. As long as their favorite blorbo appears then the entire episode wins, no matter its quality, or even how it handles the characters in question.
