I know you REALLY don’t like the Nightmare Critters, but considering what I learned about them recently, they are purposely design to be “wrong”, it’s like how IRL some toys are design to be gross and wrong on purpose for a specific audience, so the Nightmare Critters are designed to be like that on purpose, most likely for older kids, entering teen phase probably, plus the commercial jingle they had defiantly had the feels for toy lines from IRL that don’t follow the regular formula like Ugglies and The Grossery Gang

Plus I like to think the Nightmare Critters, in the Poppy Playtime timeline, we’re meant to be an antagonistic group for the cartoon, that’s why they don’t follow the regular design formula

Oh boy. Okay. This is gonna be the last thing I talk about on this matter because people are rioting in my inbox about this for frankly what boils down to matter of opinions.

I dont care if you like the Nightmare Critters.

Like whatever the fuck you want. Two of my best friends LOVE Simon and Touille, because they love dragons and rats. I'm not gonna hunt you down and kill you for liking them- hell I'm not even replacing them in my AU.

But for everyone who's trying to justify the designs to ME, someone who, as stated at the beginning of this anon's ask, DOESNT LIKE THEM, It's a wasted effort at best, and trying to piss me off at worst, because unfortunately, while their designs are bad, the lore in the chapter is even worse because they were used for nothing important. We know NOTHING about what their target audience was- we know NOTHING about them and their attachment to the smiling critters. WE. KNOW. NOTHING. They didn't even give us cutouts of them.

This whole thing- talking about how much I disliked them- started with me complaining about how much lore they were lacking and then moved onto the bad designs and now we're back at the lore as if my opinions changed since then.

Spoiler alert: it hasn't.

thats literally all ive been thinking about while reading the dark island trilogy but especially part 3

because

really??? is that it??? is that it, mr. most unreliable narrator since the dawn of time????

i know ive fallen down a conspiracy rabbit hole i dug out myself BUT

here are the facts

1. libber, cliff, clouse and everyone else were very much alive and had a chance of meeting at a point in time (serpentine wars/hands of time fighting)

2. clouse doesnt have a last name

3. we dont see libber fight in serpentine wars, only with the hands of time

4. clouse at chens order magiced krux and acronix into fucking up the alliance and all went to shit

5. we only learn of libbers existence in the season with the hands of time. we never hear from her ever again and get 2 mentions from jay who doesnt even know her name or what she looks like

6. clouses magic in dark island trilogy is strictly shown through purple lightning

7. we dont see libber in the scene where clouse and chen are sent away

so my conspiracy has 2 parts:

1) cliff and clouse are brothers/twins

CLIFF AND CLOUSE HAVE EXTREMELY FAMILIAR DESIGNS. like if i didnt tell you its two separate people theres a high chance one would think its the same person

furthermore they have the thing where almost every siblings pair we have have a similar naming convention/something tying them together

like nya and kai having three letter names and krux and acronix having the [kr] and -x in their names

CLiff and CLouse sound a hell of a lot like something youd name your twins

2) libber and clouse were close friends

i genuinely think libber met cliff through clouse because it makes way more sense for an elemental master and a dark magic apprentice to meet than an elemental master and an actor

on top of that after all these years of studying edo magic (magic derived from the element of earth) clouse still chooses it to form as lightning

So What I Think Happened Is:

clouse libber and garmadon (along with cliff idk being there ig) met and were in regular proximity with each other/were friends while clouse and garmadon studied under chen. garmadon went off to fight in the serpentine wars while libber stayed behind.

then chen makes clouse manipulate acronix and crux to continue the war.

for some reason (probably because shes pregnant cus im pretty sure kai was already born during the hands of time battle?? like itd make sense timeline wise?? and we dont see lily so cole is prolly born too even tho i know its said it was 40 years ago, timelines suck in ninjago) that makes her leave clouses side and fight the time twins

what then happens i dont fucking know except that libb gives birth to jay, leaves cliff and leaves jay in the junkyard

what i think happened is she was on the run from the hands of time and destiny itself. since apparently fighting fate and space-time fucking up runs in the storm-amulet family. personally i think shes become one with the sky the way nya did in seabound (BECAUSE WHY THE FUCK DO SEABOUND AND SKYBOUND HAVE THE SAME NAMING CONVENTION HUHHH)

so clouse was cheated out of a position he worked for years for, tried to redeem himself in the eyes of chen, only for his best friend to leave him (and fight by his arch-nemesis' side) and then directly because of what he has done have her die/disappear without a trace and none of the 'good guys' did anything to save her.

THATS a good reason for harbouring this much poison for garmadon, wu and his students. Thats a good reason to save both himself and jay from getting blown up in season 4. Thats a good reason for wanting the entire world in darkness.

because he lost his best friend and his only light years ago. because maybe from the darkness and purple lightning and indiscriminate power maybe he can bring her back.

hi so can we talk about how lightning is representative of evil and dark magic in ninjago and how it reflects on the elemental masters of lightning or....????

Day 5: Smth smth animal in team gear

ppl are talking about a ggy megacat game but I wouldnt be able to handle it bc theyd make tony becker the protaganist but not get every aspect of his characterization and tunnel vision and tragic character syndrome and obsessive behavior correct and I'd pop a blood vessel

MADE EDITS i couldn't stop thinking about their outfits and like,, the aspects i liked and thought felt very winx and in line with the individual characters and the aspects i Hated and thought sucked dookie SO i made some edits :)

biggest changes are to musa, aisha, and stella! actually changed the clothes there. flora and tecna i just adjusted the colors (in flora's case to further unwhitewash her and saturate her clothing more and in tecna's case to bring back her pink hair and green and cyan).

explanations on changes below!

I'll start with the simpler edits!

For Tecna, I just wanted to play around with her og colors lol I actually LOVE her new look and I would love to see this be the final design!! It's SO tecna and fits in with the rest of the winx i love it soo much :') I do think they should bring back her pinker hair though! And again, would love to see the green and cyan make an appearance. I feel like neon green is just very classy techy character. And while it is cliche, I do love it akjgd plus I think it looks good on her and makes the other colors stand out more imo! (but maybe this new, pinker look will make people like her more idk :') justice for tecna my beloved :'))

For Flora, I darkened her skin more for obvious reasons. And then I added more saturation to the colors and added back the warmer tones they took out. Imo, the darker, desaturated, and cooler toned look for Flora only works in very specific circumstances. Color theory rainbow!! Bring back the brightness! The color!! The warmth!!

Which brings me to Stella ohmygod,,, please,,,, please stop desaturating her she looks so pale and sick and lifeless STOP please :') Anyway lol, obviously brought back the brighter orange! I also took away the random sleeve. It's cute but it just didn't feel very Stella at the time? The tube top look is Very Classic Stella (very much giving s3 casual but in orange). Tbh, I don't love the dress itself, but I do think it looks better once you add more of Stella's colors. I also tanned her skin more and made her hair more yellow + brighter! Just like with Flora, color theory is important for media!! This Stella design just does Not give sunny, optimistic character. It's giving the gap (aka BORING aljdhg)

Aisha's design stumped me for a bit, I won't lie. I couldn't figure out exactly what I didn't like. But I got it!! One, way too symmetrical imo. Yes, Aisha does have some very symmetrical looks, but like 80% of her looks are very asymmetrical. I also didn't love that it didn't incorporate more of Aisha's powers. It really just went for *vaguely sporty* and didn't try to bring anything else to the table. And some people might say that Aisha's og looks were like that too, but I disagree! They told a story! She's a brave adventurer, a dancer, a princess, etcetc!! This tells me "oh yeah this girl might like to do yoga. cool."

Anyway! So I made Aisha's pants baggier because let's be fucking real for a sec. Changed the design on the pants slightly to make it asymmetrical and incorporated a wave design. Took away that bottom shiny fabric of her shirt. I tried to keep it but it just wasn't looking great with the pants changes tbh. Added small waves to the bottom and made it one shoulder! Also added her classic little circle wave design 1. because it's cute and 2. so Musa wouldn't feel so out of place with a design. Tbh, I still don't love the pants... I think maybe that hem could be higher?

For Musa! I've spoken about this before but I do not like the bodysuit. I liked the concept and the vibe it brings, but it looks So uncomfortable and s1 Musa was alllll about being comfortable. It's why so many people think she hates wearing dresses (even though she doesn't). So I kept the vibe, but changed it to the same mesh that's on her right arm! Which like!! I didn't even see that until I started the edit!! It's so,,, unnoticeable which like,, isn't a bad thing? But also? I think the mesh being on her stomach too makes the design as a whole a little more balanced (and it's a nice callback to her og magic winx!). As for the color changes, really just wanted to go back to her reds and dark blues. I don't Hate the color scheme, but I also don't love it. And I think this feels a lot more like Musa yknow? Also darkened her hair cause fuck that dude

Anyway lol it's not the best edit so don't look too hard :') I just wanted to explore what I liked about the designs and what I didn't. We did get to see a little bit of Bloom's casual, but I want to wait until we get a closer look to speak on it/make edits. Also tbh, I don't really love Flora's outfit but I didn't want to completely redesign her and I concede that this is something she would wear (although it feels more like s4 cowgirl time/s5 casual and not s1 new student time but Fine). For now, I'm gonna pretend the trailer showed us my edit of Stella and not what it really showed. I can't get pale pinterest stella out of my head,,, aggghhhh

here you go. first one is obv at the scene . second is at some point @ 13. i imagine they strongly encourage men keep their hair short being a militaristic society and whatnot. couldnt get him to part with the facial hair though . anyway his hair would be relatively grown out here. iirc katniss says his eye doesnt sustain any permanent damage or whatever but i do think the nerves in his eyelids are kind of affected so that eye has a little bit of a squint even after the scars fade

having a normal one watching Bdubs lim life tonight and thinking about how when Bdubs betrayed Tango in last life, Skizz told Tango that for the sake of team best he had to go and forgive him.

But when Bdubs boogey kills Skizz in lim life before team ties is even really formed, Skizz is allowed to have it out for Bdubs for almost the entire first half of the season, even when the clockers ally with them and it would've been easier to let sleeping dogs lie.

Tango, the perpetually extraneous and undervalued member of his alliances...the too often shoved aside and betrayed...being told it was his duty to the team to forgive bdubs and move on....

Yeah got through the main quest with the gerudo, it wasn't painful! It wasn't even bad! Still got them outfits but for the most part it was like oh cool!

I would say a lot of that oh cool is from the fact they didn't do a lot to even fuck it up to begin with, I'm gonna be real with yall this game is NOT worth $60USD

Edit: lemme say one thing, you know when people were being like damn totk story wasn't dark or mature at all why was this compared to Majora's mask again? And then all the zeldatwt people came out and said zelda is just a kid series domt expect good writing uH
