im taking a wine class rn (paid for by work. id never be taking wset level 2 classes for fun) and this is p accurate.

with white wine it depends- you wouldnt really oak a white wine or want it to go thru malalactic conversion unless its a chard. (malalactic conversion is also what makes a buttery chardonay ‘buttery’. its where it gets that smooth creaminess from and you wouldnt want tht in a sauv blanc or pinot gri bc those are supposed to be very bright and crisp) sauv blanc from aotearoa tends to be more grapefruity as the leading flavor.

as well, a fun way to tell if a wine is more sweet than not (at least for riesling as far as i know) is to check the alc percentage. high the percentage, the dryer it will be (unless its had something sweet added at the end of the peocess.) lower the alc percentage the sweeter it is.

again, red wines tend to be either red fruit or black fruit. no i dont know how to tell but according to my boss its like the first fruits you think of. so if you drink smth and you get more like strawberry or cherry notes or if it reminds you of those fruits its going ti be red fruit. vice versa for black.

and sweet vs juicy. to me white desert wines will be sweet, so your rieslings and moscatos. red wine wont be sweet, but many people who taste like, fruit in it will confuse that for being sweet. so someone asking me ‘i want a sweet red wine’ that doesnt super exist unless its been sugar bombed and back. theyre usually looking for smth that will be fruity/juicy.

white zinfandel was made accidentally. look it up!

theres also something with sweet whites called botrytis or noble rot. it happens in the vineyard where you have damp and cold misty mornings which quickly turn into warm afternoons. its this mold that will grow on it and when the grapes are pressed and juice, itll bring out these sugars and complexity. it was actually very cool to tey bc the wine was very sweet and on the nose reminded me of an apple orchard with either over ripe apples or those that fell off the tree and were rotting.

am i the only one who doesn't like timebomb? i mean theres nothing wrong with liking the ship i obviously wouldn't judge others for having a different opinion than me, but lots of things about the ship just doesn’t sit right with me personally.

like for example ekko was in the au for only two days (he showed up two days before his au self was supposed to show off his project and left the night before which means he was only there for two days) yet in those two days he managed to fall in love with someone who tried to kill him and has killed many of his friends multiple times? i get that he had an obvious cute little crush on her when they were kids (if you pay attention it was pretty obvious and also kinda cute) but that wasn't long lived because she literally switched sides after that and for the next 8 years they weren't in contact (not much contact other than her trying to kill him or/and his friends anyways) like idk about anyone else but i personally wouldn’t fall in love with the person who killed many of my loved ones let alone falling in love with that person within two days that’s just impossible. i understand that he probably still had some lingering feelings for his universe's jinx and that’s why it was so easy for him to fall in love with au powder in just two days but in my opinion it's still too rushed and unrealistic. i couldn’t even begin to imagine myself falling in love with someone who simply talked bad about me behind my back let alone someone who’s killed my loved ones and has tried to kill me too.

i like the IDEA of them like two former childhood friends turned into enemies who are lovers in a different universe and only one of them obtains the knowledge of the fact that they’re lovers in a different life, and so the only one who knows is left yearning for that kind of connection in their current universe as well??? Like that’s such a good trope. normally i’d eat it up, but the way it was portrayed messed it up for me personally, so now i’m left only liking the idea of the ship but not actually fully liking the ship itself, and i don’t think i ever will tbh.

Its really really sad. I'm in English Education and the amount of people using AI to write papers or summarize the texts that theyre supposed to read is like full blown nihilism. I'm admittedly not the most well-read person and I will fully admit that, and life is hard and time is low, but at least I'm out here making an effort to READ like the English Major I'm supposed to be.

Meanwhile, My professors have been sort of... Mixed about ai i guess? Because we're being trained to like, grade papers and shit theyve had us use GenAI to like, compare output to our own work so we can recognize it better, which I think is fair game considering the field even if it still sucks. Then some of them will be like "use magic school ai to throw together quick layouts for worksheets and stuff" which is like... I mean I dont want to make or purchase the worksheets either but i dont know that its worth using the 'kill earth button' to generate a bunch of boxes on a document. They try to be hawkish about AI use to generate a whole paper but kids still use it to outline and shit. It really sucks.

We just did a whole unit in my Teaching Shakespeare class about AI output in relation to our reading of Hamlet, everyone agreed that the AI output was substandard and shallow (its better than I thought it would be I'll admit, but it still wrote like a D grade paper, which is really fuckin unimpressive considering its writing about a massively influential, thoroughly discussed text thats like 400 years old or whatever and it still couldnt outpace the handwritten essays we had to throw together in 40 minutes by hand with no computers or books or anything to cite from so we could compare them, in OKLAHOMA of all education systems). Despite this, theres at LEAST one guy in my class who STILL insists on using AI at every available turn despite LITERALLY BEING MADE TO SEE THAT ITS QUALITY IS SUBSTANDARD.

And this is in the education field. Sorry ya'll but if we can't get some major legislation on this shit yesterday, or if the AI doesn't reach a noticeable slop singularity soon, this planet is cooked. Not nation, planet. Literally and intellectually.

(oh hey, we didnt have a long rant in a while, this wasnt supposed to be so long, as per usual with me ... i looked up some refs of the botw sonau ruins since i wanted to see how to combine its design to my sonau design in my totk rewrite- and this happened ... in case this sounds too angry or aggressive, its not meant like that, im not imploding about it, its just frustrating and annoying to me)

i have a problem with pretty much every inch of totk, and theres lots of big problems, and lots of things i find absolutely bafflingly stupid decisions-

one bafflingly weird and stupid decision to me, though there are way more important ones, is the nigh complete seperation from botw sonau (zonai) design aesthetic and totk sonau design aesthetic- its so .. weird and utterly unecessary it will never stop bothering me, its one that has relatively little impact in development but huge impact on the believability of the world

you have these ancient ruins of long gone people (that imo should have stayed a mystery, since that sense of lost history you cannot grasp makes both the world more believable and real feeling and will never let you stop thinking about, if you care about that kind of stuff at least- but i talked about that in length before im sure), but whats left leaves you still with a pretty clear design aesthetic, at least in the buildings that remain (the armor less so bc it really doesnt look like anythign ancient and just doesnt really fit together)

and then you make a game around them- but ... completely redesign their aesthetic .... in a rather big contrast too, for literally NO reason, there is not a single reason to do that, not even the excuse of trying to seperate the two games in their core aesthetic (like in the case of the shiekah- though that too is stupid bc ITS A DIRECT SEQUEL- IF YOU DONT WANT TO MAKE MORE OF THAT DESIGN THEME or leave it in for that matter THATS CORE TO THE PREVIOUS GAME DONT MAKE IT A DIRECT SEQUEL YOU DUM-) can do any work here, the botw sonau ruins werent many, it was background stuff, it wasnt a main theme and it didnt carry any importance in the game itself

like, botw sonau architecture was dark stone with red highlights (a color that usually fades rather quickly, imagine how strong it had to be once, maybe it was even more colorful at some point), bird, boar and dragon carvings, torches in bird shape, alot of swirls and round patterns among the blockier rough shapes, its was pretty detailed with patterns and pictures all over it --

totk sonau? blendingly white stone, all blocky shapes like unfinished blender models, not a swirl to be found, green hologram lights (or cold white light, i dont think there are any totk sonau torches, just those weird candle things- most light sources are lamps in impeccable shape all giving off that cold white light) and gold blocky script, theres rarely alot of detail on them, the pattern most often present beign a scale pattern ... one which i dont remember appearing anywhere on the botw sonau ruins in that way/that often, the only animal motif is a dragon head every now and then and it honestly feels tacked on, like they scrambled to try and connect the two in any way shape or form, white gold and green, theres nothing red anywhere, they neither connect to the botw sonau architecture nor to the one armor set- or its description, totk sonau have nothing to do with the phirone (faron) region (aside from that one quest that could have been placed anywhere), they are weirdly modern and techy, theres nothing "barbaric", not even their clothes are in any way connected (im so sick of all that gold tbh) even their magic isnt really .. magical, it all feels like science fiction type tech stuff (even though they said they wanted it to feel magical, couldnt be further from that tbh) the design of their magic symbols dont line up with their own building aesthetic or anyone elses even, its so messy

if you do the quest to get the fith sage its even more apparent- its the direct contrast between botw and totk sonau, its like a cut into a mod, theres no overlap, you cant argue that its bc the botw ruins where exposed to the elements and thats why the color differs- the totk sonau ruins left to rot both in the underground and in the literal sky are all just as if not more exposed, yet they all remain in rather good shape, all keeping the white and often completely colorless look, most damage being just some clumps of mold (?) or something having fallen over, and if they were protected so their color didnt change? wheres the red? the colors all should be in pristine shape then but its not bc there is no color

their excuse of "uuuh the hylians build those things in honor of the sonau!!" they tried to give doesnt work, like all other excuses, if they did why the hell does it look so different? sonau stuff was all over the place, you have the blueprints right there, WHY even build it? in those regions nonetheless that were of pretty little importance as far as we know, if this were the case they should be on the forgotten plateau or around hyrule castle but they are not- ALSO if the hylians built them for them .. so after they died out .. why then is there some weird mechanism with their actual aesthetic there in the ones in phirone? if they built it while they were still there ... why make it look so different?? ADDITIONALLY hyrules style of architecture is closer to the totk sonau one than the botw sonau so you cant even say it was influenced by their own style bc botws sonau is more different than both of them

it also adds to the .. feeling of something being off about the entire game (like it felt to me even shortly after starting to play), while i dont want to touch on the stupidness of how they handled totk shrines since thats another long rant i already did before, the sudden appearance of totk sonau style stuff literally everywhere (and the disappearance of anything not plot relevant shiekah bc it just went poof according to interviews and neither that nonsensical excuse nor anything in the game making sense- bc in the end they just wanted it gone and didnt care) would seem LESS weird if it was in the style of botw sonau, you know that style, its been here the whole time and more of it appearing would seem much less jarring, even if it doing so in completely non sensical ways- it would at least lessen that weirdness

i do not get why you would do that, did your designers have nothing to do so you made them make an entirely new aesthetic? did you not want your holy perfectly goodest god king to be anything but the most clean and kingly looking so you didnt even go for the barbaric idea from botw?(which i am not a fan of either) bc of course someone supposed to fill the role of perfect example of how to be good king of holy hyrule to zelda couldnt look "primitive"? was that given to the ancient hylians instead? with their designs going, to me, rather close to a mix of native american and ancient greek aesthetic (uh oh)- to contrast them to your superior alien that brought the idiots on earth technology since we didnt have enough tired tropes in here already? thought that design theme was more sellable? simply didnt care? (tbh, most likely in my eyes given the carelesness of the game to connect in any way to botw, much less in a meaningful one)

Was I supposed to feel any warm fuzzies when Yotha and his mum had their reconciliation moment?? Cause I sure as shit didn't... I hate the mum more than ever after this scene because it's even more evident to me now that she doesn't care about her relationship with her sons, she just cares about her own comfort.

She's only been so focused on fixing things with Yotha because he's loud and abrasive in his dislike of her, and that makes her life harder because she can't ignore it. But look at the others.

Newton is completely emotionally disconnected and apathetic. He takes the news that his mother is moving roughly 6000 miles away with the same level of emotion you'd give a casual acquaintance, with "well if I'm ever in your neck of the woods we should catch up" energy. And I think this is because he genuinely doesn't care, he hasn't relied on his mum since the divorce and is of the 'no expectations means no disappointments' mentality. The mum is fine with this distance because it's subtle and non-confrontational, which is comfortable for her. Who cares that his coping mechanism is unhealthy, at least it's quiet.

Then we have Faifa... I could, and do, cry when I think too hard about this poor boy. His mum ripped him out of one family unit and then shoved him out of another. And why?? For her own convenience. In her own words, she took him to live with her because he, the child, would experience enough separation anxiety to force her, the adult, to keep in touch with her other kids. Thats a level of emotional abuse that I dont even have the language to try and explain... and then she fully admits that if she'd taken Yotha in the divorce, they'd have never seen her again.

Then, we can only assume, especially after the "your stepfather and siblings ask about you all the time" comment, that he wasn't shoved out of his second family due to unresolvable issues or something like that. It sounds more like, at some point, it became more comfortable for her to keep these two chapters of her life completely separate. This trauma has made Fai such a people pleaser that he's completely unable to process, let alone call out, his mums shitty actions and is instead left feeling like a burden who constantly has to prove his worth. (Don't even get me started on the fact that his mother practically rips his self worth away, admits she didn't want to live with him because she loved him but purely for convenience, drops the bomb that she's abandoning him again, and then he offers her a lift to the airport!! Like he feels the need to prove his worth one last time.) But at least, from the mums perspective, this isn't uncomfortable or overt, so she doesn't see, or chooses not to acknowledge, the obvious hurt he's going through cause its easier for her not to. She gets to keep her comfort through willful ignorance.

So yeah, it's nice Yotha has had a chance to get some closure, but at what cost??

Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. Also HOW does he take these on and off. Experts weigh in
