#i dont like coming to terms with this at all

okay so in scrolling through transandrophobia tags and blogs the other day (to block them all) we found something interesting, that we havent seen anyone talk about.

they've coined another new term! and this time, it happens to be really interesting, in two different ways. let's talk about Malgendering

the first interesting thing is the way they define and describe this term: Malgendering is, unlike misgendering, respecting someone's gender but only when it allows you to discriminate against them on a gendered basis; or respecting someone's gender specifically by discriminating against them for it.

i.e., treating a transfem like a woman when it allows you to be misogynist, or treating a transmasc like a man so you can exclude them from lesbian spaces (<sarcasm>which totally counts as gender discrimination guys please believe me</sarcasm>)

and this is really interesting! specifically, i find it interesting because it illuminates why transandrophobia is a flawed theory. and because transfeminists, who are actually like. discussing and creating theory. havent created a term for this yet (to my knowledge)

because under transmisogyny, we are treated as women and discriminated against as women while simultaneously being misgendered, and told that we're not women and never will be.

transmascs experience transphobia, in being misgendered or discriminated against for being trans, or misogyny, in being falsely seen as women and treated suchly. but they dont experience any kind of systemic intersection of the two, its always one or the other.

and "malgendering" describes this switch! it points out, directly, that transmascs are, in the way they present themselves, essentially given a choice between whether to experience transphobia, or misogyny.

the other interesting thing about it is how they actually use it. which comes with a slightly different definition. the way transandrobros actually use the term malgendering is "the act of forcing a transmasc to misgender themselves in order to escape transandrophobic discrimination"

or in other words! that thing they do, where they resort to bioessentialist vagina purity logic, and misgender themselves to paint themselves as the victims of male aggression and violence at the hands of those nasty baeddels

they are now reframing that as something we force them to do, shifting blame for their own cissexist worldview onto the transfeminists they're trying to shout down.

and that's uh. bad. i dont have anything else smart to say on that. its just something we noticed, that we hadnt seen anyone talking about, and thought it might be worth like, starting a little conversation or spreading awareness, so y'all know what they mean, (and what they think they mean) when they inevitably start using the word in hate anons.

A few months ago I made a reel on instagram ranking every small mammal species I’ve kept or long term fostered from favorite to least favorite. It all of a sudden blew up and I’ve gotten a few genuinely angry comments and then a lot of people politely shocked by my rankings:

Degus, gerbils, mice, dwarf hamsters, guinea pigs, african soft furs, syrian hamsters, chinchillas, rats, and lastly sugar gliders.

People cannot believe I would rank rats so low and rank dwarf hamsters above syrians. Don’t I know dwarf hamsters are often bitey? Dont I know rats are like little dogs?

I guess I’m an outlier because temperament isn’t my chief concern for which critters I like and frequently I prefer the less friendly ones 💀😂 Rats are the most dog-like of the rodents…. But I don’t want a dog!

I actually like and appreciate every species on that list. They’re just not all well suited to my home. If I had actual AC and not just window units I’d probably rank chinchillas somewhat higher. If african soft furs didn’t develop papillomas all the time I might rank them higher. If my gerbils wanted to come out every day for multiple hours to run around and play with me they might rank lower.

Anyways, how would YOU rank the rodents you’ve owned by preference? Can tumblr be more normal about rats not being my favorite than instagram?

i feel like if each tour was a movie in a movie series, then tatinof and ii are parts 1 and 2, wad is a spinoff, and tit is part 3. i think tit is a direct sequel to ii because of the meta nature of the show being amped up as well as the themes of "giving the ppl what they want" vs "taking back what was taken from us" obv being a parallel. and obv wad and tatinof are also Extremely Meta, but the specific ways in which ii and tit are meta in terms of being ABOUT the audience-creator relationship is more overarching, whereas tatinof's meta nature is in it being an explosion of self-referential bits that they know the audience already loves. and wad... honestly idk if i would even call wad meta? it's mostly just self-indulgent, WHICH IS A GOOD THING because it is directly about dan's particular struggles with coping through a world that seems to be getting worse and worse and figuring that you HAVE to keep going and see thru to the other side. which i guess is meta in that its about himself but thats like calling an autobiography meta lmao.

i could be misremembering bc it was such a whirlwind experience for me, but i dont think they ever clarify if they DO believe themselves to be bad influences or not. now i feel like this should be obvious, but just in case it isn't: dan and phil did not make you gay. they maybe influenced you to come out, or influenced your gay fashion choices, or maybe seeing them be openly queer or reading fics about them and seeing shippy art of them stirred something within you to realize that you've been gay the whole time (which is also a joke that they do a couple times where theyre like "no we were STRAIGHT and we BECAME GAY in 2019!")

i dont know what akasaka is currently on, but that final chapter will either be fucking awful or somehow save this story

i really hate how many moments in the back half of the manga, some in this chapter included, could have had such a good emotional impact,,,, but nooooo.

i will now mourn aqua, bc for what's it worth,,,, his ending is painfully fitting. truly, he is his mothers son through and through.

I said this previously but I am desperately taking my Ws where I can get them, so having Aqua be the one to concretely parallel Ai in this specific regard after the story spent the last 40something chapters trying to cram forced Ruby = Ai parallels down my throat honestly felt like a stay of execution lol.

LIKE.......... I definitely think Akasaka was trying to recapture that emotional energy and impact of Ai's death and the sheer unfairness of her life being cut so short, but the issue is that Ai manages to get an actually satisfying narrative capstone to her arc vis-a-vis her death. That it happens ON her death bed is tragic but it's nevertheless immensely cathartic and even though I very much still ugly cry an embarrassing amount every I revisit that scene, I come away feeling deeply satisfied. It feels correct for Ai.

For Aqua... idk! I've said it before but I don't think Aqua dying is necessarily an unworkable plot point but the way it's executed just feels bizarre. Not only does the story suddenly have to rush to catch up with itself in terms of convincing the audience that omg no the twins totes had this amazingly close connection all along for reals!!! but it doesn't actually meaningfully engage with or resolve any of the things that are in tension in Aqua's personal arc the way Ai's death does.

It also doesn't help that, like. As I've said before, Aqua is a person who's spent hours ENTIRE existence living in service to others, to the point that multiple characters call him out on being willing to twist himself up and sacrifice himself for everyone else's sake. So having the story end not on the note of AFFIRMING this by framing "being Ruby's babysitter and guard dog" as his divinely ordained reason for existence really clashes with the idea that this is supposed to be a tragedy, because everything surrounding it makes it feel like the narrative is saying "yes, Aqua you ARE correct that your only purpose was to slice yourself to pieces for everyone else's sake and then kys". Insaaaaaneeeee writing decision to make.

it’s not just because he’s an academy product, and him leaving on a free for more money and glory would mean that all the shit he’s spent his whole career spouting about how much he loves the club & the fans & the city and how much he values the endless support he’s always gotten from the fans will have all been bullshit.

it’s also that, if he goes to Madrid, it’ll show that he genuinely never gave a shit about the club’s values, or at least thinks so little of the club and its fans that he’s willing to undermine its morals as a club for the people, by the people, about the people, a club that has been a source of pride for a long-oppressed and long-exploited city & community in order to move to a club literally built on oppression and totalitarianism and facism, and which has been a tool of propaganda for the elite for decades.

if he throws his legacy away by leaving on a free, thus fucking the club itself over as well, for more money and more glory and more trophies, that’s his decision to make, but he can say goodbye to any lfc fan with a basic grasp on the values of the club honoring him as a legend in the slightest, and he can say goodbye to any goodwill the city has for him.

it’s really hard to say all this, because trent’s been my favorite player for years, but i just don’t understand how anyone could still see him in the same light if he goes running the second Madrid calls him.

it is always always always incredibly.... i do not trust dyadic trans people that use cagab terms, even moreso than i do not trust dyadic trans people that just use agab terms. agab is also coopted intersex language, but the "coercive" part of cagab SPECIFICALLY refers to medical "intervention" of intersex characteristics, such as "corrective" surgeries and hrt. i am deeply fucking suspicious of any dyadic trans person that uses those terms exactly the same as described above, even moreso if they do so bc "all gender is coercive".

like. yeah. that's true. but you use these terms to erase and overtake intersex discussions on the medical abuse of intersex infants. and i cant help but wonder why you would feel the need to do that.
