You couldnt help but stare at your screen while in a safe area at the character you've been controlling. The sight of him made you want to kick your feet and twirl your hair like a schoolgirl who had a crush.

You see, the remake to one of your favorite games had just come out and you intended on spending the whole weekend playing the game from start to finish. Well, that was the plan, until you started staring at the protagonist with heart eyes. The way the devs modeled him was… oh boy. The things you would do to him.

You couldnt help it though, Leon Kennedy was a looker, there was a reason why you, among many other people, simped heavily for him.

Man, why cant you be real? you thought silently to yourself, continuing to stare directly at him. Although you were alone, you couldnt help but feel like someone was watching you while you eyed him.

that was when something unexpected happened.

"y'know, im flattered, but are you gonna keep ogling me or are we gonna get a move on?" a familiar voice spoke in an annoyed tone.

that earned a jump from you. did… did leon just… address you? you looked at your screen to see Leon looking at you, a disappointed look present on his face and arms crossed.

"Yeah, you… y'know its rude to stare, right?"

You sat there in shock, he WAS talking to you. but HOW? this was supposed to be something that was one-sided. why was he talking to you?

"cat got your tongue?" he sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.

"w…wait have you been able to see me this whole time?" you asked hesitantly. "and… hear what i say??"

He gave you a small smirk "yeah, you could say that"

"uhhh" you trailed off, scratching the back of your head gently "well this is embarrassing". Since you deducted that he could hear you, you realized that he most likely had heard your thirsty comments about him. and that was enough to fluster you. "sorry for the comments" you mumbled, almost embarrassed by your actions

you heard a soft chuckle in response "dont worry, im used to it by now…" he replied "but i bet youre confused right about now, am i right?"

you sat up in your chair, putting down your controller before making eye contact with him once more. You had so many questions but you werent even sure if you were to get any answers to them. you started out with a simple one; "so… how long have you been able to hear what ive been saying?"

"since you started playing the other day, i'd say" he responded flatly.

"gotcha, gotcha…" you responded. "guess i gotta watch what i saw now since i know you can hear me now…" you twiddled your thumbs in pure embarrassment.

"hey, like i said, its all good," he reassured "im kinda flattered that people see me like that"

you picked up your controller again, ready to move on with the game "i think im gonna keep playing now" you mumbled "do you just… emulate what im doing with my controller or… how does this work?"

"something like that… lead the way" you heard him say in response.

my view on enjoying men is are they pretty, cute, soft, sad, weak, pathetic, vulnerable, lack authority, the embodiment of a wet soggy wet cat, or any other similar type of characteristic? basically the opposite of what society expects men to be? then they may become a worm in my mind.

i've come to the conclusion that I generally enjoy women doing their thing in any shape or form and like the idea of us equally existing together without gender roles being a part of anything. while my brain wants to see and treat a soft, pathetic man the way men normally treat women in society lmao. in reality, I prefer everyone to stand equally...but there's also something very good about a man in a traditional "women's" role if that makes sense. feminine-leaning man who is very soft and pretty and cute and who has none of that masculine authority our society gives free to men. I don't think these kind of men exist, or at least i've not seen any. so that's why I 99% of the time don't enjoy men irl and only enjoy a few fictional ones that I can twist into this very tiny specific box I have set for them.

okay so, angst. dont know why the first kind of, if not one of the first kind’s of fic I write when I write for something new always ends up being angst, like legit this made me cry.

i read a fic with a similar premise this morning and the thought wouldnt leave my head, so in one sitting, on my phone, i wrote this. (I thought I saved the fic, but I did not, so if anyone knows which one im talking about hit me up)

but since i hate unresolved angst, i gave this a not sad ending, AND I gave whiskey a therapist, like he needs.

Of course it was too good to be true. 

You knew it that first night he asked you to dinner. You knew it every time he took you to bed. You knew it when he asked you to move in.

He was tall, he was handsome, he had a thick Kentucky twang that made you weak in the knees, and, he’d been so kind, and sweet, and he made you feel wanted.

You had never realized how little space you actually took up until you started packing. How your clothes took up less than a quarter of the walk-in closet, how few decorations were just yours. 

They’ll pull the “we were right” card when you show up back home with a duffle and barely three boxes of your things. 

God, he probably laughs about how easy you were, another notch in his bedpost, a guaranteed fuck if he couldn’t get into someone’s bed. 

How many times were “late flights” really him sneaking back in. How many times did he come home and immediately head for you because someone else turned him down. 

You can’t hold back the choked off sob that comes out of you as the heavy blanket you’d made for Christmas falls from the upper shelf as you tear down the last of your clothes. 

You can’t touch it, you can barely look at it, he’ll have to deal with it when he finds it. Will he even notice you’re gone before that?

As you toss your last set of shirts into your bag you hear the jangle of keys. You’d hoped to be at least thirty minutes gone by the time he came home, but you’d hoped for a lot of things. 

“Darlin’ you home?”

Your throat tightens around your reflexive reply. 

You hear his keys as they fall into the bowl by the door, the soft pad of his bare feet, the opening of the fridge. 

Has he noticed that you haven’t said anything? Does he even care?

“Honeybee?”

Your stomach lurches and suddenly you’re running to the bathroom to dry heave.

He takes the stairs two at a time, and you gag on nothing as he makes it to the bedroom. 

He steps closer and you can feel his hand as it gets closer to your back, “Sugar-“

“Don’t you fucking touch me.”

The venom in your voice shocks even you, good, he needs to know there’s rage fueling these tears. 

Your stomach finally settles and you look up to the piece of shit that strung you along for nearly two and a half years.

You were absolutely astonished to see the boogeyman nod once - it was so slight you barely noticed.

"Aha! Well then! Follow me, good sir!"

The man dressed in the blue, grimy uh.. bodysuit? followed you down the hallway, and into the kitchen. Two pizza boxes were on the island in the middle of the kitchen.

"I got onions and mushrooms and stuff on one pizza, then i got one regular pepperoni. We shall feast!"

You had a small plate on the floor next to the island that had a small round thin slam of salami. Your friendly feline whom you've named Vore meowed and jogged towards the man behind you.

You watch as Vore rubbed themselves onto the boogeyman's legs. "Anyways. We shall feast!"

"Hey so," You swallow what you had in your mouth, almost choking on a large piece you thought you chewed, the boogeyman turned his head towards you, mask up slightly to reveal his lips so he could eat. You take another bite, chew quickly and swallow - "Why were you in my house? Were you going to murder me?"

The boogeyman didn't respond, but instead, took another bite of the thin crust pizza.

"I'd kill me too." You nodded with a chuckle, before taking, once again, another bite.

The boogeyman shook his head, opening his mouth to possibly respond - but he shut his mouth.

"Naah it's chill. I got a paper and pen on the counter besides you." You were eager to know what he was going to say.

Soon, the boogeyman was writing down some words.

He hands you the piece of paper, you rub your hands off on your pants before taking hold of the paper.

"Ohh! Chill. That's cool." You hand him the paper back. He leaned over the counter - and began writing.

' i will be leaving.'

The paper said.

I spent Way too long on this because my brain was fried from school/work. Merry reaches out to that hobbit he ran into (literally) the other day

Merry was hiding in his room as he often did. Actually, he wasn’t sure it was a room so much as a walk in closet. But it was the only thing he could afford at the moment in Minas Tirith so it would have to do. One of his roommates had a friend over and they were hanging out in the kitchen which was right outside Merry’s door. Oh I wish they’d go someplace already, Merry thought. 

The hobbit had been at work all day in Boromir’s office and now he just wanted to be able to sit on his bed and enjoy some peace and quiet. But with all the noise in the apartment, that wasn’t going to happen. He at least wanted someone to talk to if he couldn’t close his eyes and calm down. His mind first went to Jamie but that was a no-go. Since he moved out of their apartment a couple months ago, the two hadn’t talked and Merry at least was feeling much better for it. The summer had just started so there was no chance of making friends at school anytime soon. And working with Professor Boromir, though rewarding, was not exactly a great way to interact with anyone besides Boromir and the occasional librarian. Then Merry thought of that hobbit he had run into on campus (literally) a few days before. What was his name again? It was something with a P. It was definitely a peach color…Merry rummaged through his bag for his phone. Ah! Pippin!

Merry started to type into the little chat box. “It was nice meeting you” No, that’s redundant since it’s implied. He erased the message and tried again: “Hey! This is Merry. How’re you doing? :)” It wasn’t anything flashy but he just wanted to talk about anything. He sent the message and then hid the phone under his pillow. He was too nervous now to keep an eye on his phone. This is so stupid, you don’t even know each other. 

Suddenly loud laughter came from the kitchen and the front door slammed as another roommate came home. Merry didn’t know any of his roommates either. They were two cishet Men and a Dwarf. He was out to the Dwarf (they tend to have a very good sense of gender), but he was stealth to the other two roommates and they were the ones that made Merry the most nervous. He wasn’t sure what would happen if they found out he was trans and he didn’t want to find out. 

Buzz! Startled, Merry reached for his phone. 

“Hey hey, Merry! im doing alright. Came home from work all covered in flour ^^’ it’s been a rough day. How are you? :]”

“Sorry it’s been rough. Want to talk about it at all? And I’m ok...my roommates are bein loud tho :/” 

“Aw im sorry to hear that. Basically what happened was i got to work and already everything had gone to shit. We had all these orders backed up and i had to jump right into it. Got out of work 3 hours later than i was supposed to! And i didnt even get a elevensies or afternoon tea break!”

Merry laughed at that. He hadn’t heard about elevensies or afternoon tea since he was in the Shire. For whatever reason, the Brandybucks prided themselves on eating as little as possible--at least that was true for his mother anyway. Growing up he usually had a light breakfast and a light dinner and that was it. 

“Wow that really sounds like a lot and makes my workday sound like a walk in the park! How did you get into baking?”

“Well my mom taught me growing up and i came to Minas Tirith to go to university but i needed a job in the meantime so i thought i’d try my hand at it. Honestly i just measure out the ingredients for the most part. Other people get to do the fancy stuff. Tho sometimes i help with the delivery if we’re really short-staffed...as you saw lol But what was your work day like?”

“Wait! You’re going to the University too? I’m starting in the humanities department in the Fall! Oh and my work day was kind of unusual, I designed a program for an event that’s being run by the humanities dept. I work for the Chair so I help him with things like that.”

Merry looked out his window and realized it was getting dark. He could make out the top of a tree on the other side of the building across from his apartment. Its black silhouette stood out against the violet sky. 

Mrrr? Peony questioned as she jumped up onto the bed. Merry gave the cat a scratch behind the ears. Buzz!

“Oh man! I cant believe we are both going to school here! That’s so cool. im in the sciences department. Um no worries if you’re not interested at all i totally understand but i have a couple days off this week and id be down to hangout if you’d like.”

Merry was taken aback. He liked Pippin well enough but he was scared too. What if he’s getting the wrong idea and thinks I like him? Merry began to get that fight or flight feeling he got whenever he was in a potential romantic situation. He found it hard to focus and he felt dissociative. 

“I’m alright with it and i don’t mean to shoot you down but just to be clear this is all platonic right? I dont want to give you the wrong idea…”

“Oh I’m sorry if it seemed that way, just wanna hang as friends (if you’ll have me) :]” 

Merry still didn’t trust it having had some bad experiences with this sort of thing in the past. But he didn’t want to be inhibited from making friends his whole life because of some past baggage. 

“Yeah I’m down. I’m free Friday and Saturday.”

“Oh cool, I’m free Friday as well! Friday afternoon? Theres this cafe i really like we could go there? It’s called the Pink Dragon”

Merry smiled. He liked the idea of going to a cafe. It sounded cozy. 

“Sure! I think i might have seen that place around. Sounds nice!”

Then Merry added: “Thanks for inviting me out and for giving me your number in the first place. This is really nice.”

“Haha im glad i did too! It’s very nice to get to meet you, Merry!”

“It’s nice to meet you too, Pippin. See you Friday :)”
