its kinda interesting seeing a lot of the female mouthwashing self insert ocs where they make themselves besties with anya who stood up for her and hate jimmy and curly

dont get me wrong I understand fully that they are not that serious, but I think there's just such a frustrating disconnect between these ocs and canon.

the truth is that if the LARGE majority of women were put on the tulpar in that situation they would not speak up of even acknowledge the situation. women dont get the privilege in workplaces like pony express to rock the boat. assuming the sexism and gender issues are the same in mouthwashing as they are irl (assuming based off plot), i have no doubt that it would be just that much harder for a woman to succeed in these workplaces, they would be struggling to be respected in their own job and temporary home, would most really push issues like this?

its too bad because I think the idea of adding another female character makes a lot of interesting routes to explore. would she avoid anya as a whole out of guilt? or an attempt to keep HERSELF safe from jimmy?

would she really just be a stand in for any fandom member who hates jimmy and loves anya & daisuke?

its easy to say "I like this character, therefore I'm putting myself into this scenario where I am besties with them!" but theres so much MORE... mouthwashing is genuinely one of the most interesting games to think about that ive seen in a long time, I wish fans were more willing to engage with the narratives it lays out, and more often use self indulgent fanworks to PUSH what the story is trying to say instead of subverting it in a way that removes all meaning

totally disregard all the writing if you dont care lmaooo this is just me word vomiting about my ocs and thought process when doing this haha i just thought id give some context cuz i always forget you guys know literally nothing about my characters

Day 27: Crossover! So this is a two parter, part 1 is Gumlee x Ritzneer obvvvvvviously because I’m basic I can’t help but compare them and a lot of others can’t help it either from what I’ve seen I had an insane stroke of genius calling Veneer ‘Prince Gumdrop’ and I don’t think I’ll ever reach those heights again

Part 2 of the crossover is MLP CROSSOVER!! Including unicorn ‘Colt Ritz’ which I am quite proud I must say considering I hadn’t drawn a pony in like- 10 years AS WELL AS Pegasus ‘Boogie Bomb’ which I am ALSO quite proud of, he has very big wings and is covered in little green spots (which mimic the spotty design he has on his shaved scalp as a Rageon) he looks a bit like a donkey but I think that’s just because of his little facial hair bits and massive pointy ears I gave him hmmmm Also, siren Velvet and Veneer!! I can’t remember the exact lore of the sirens since I haven’t seen the film in a real long time but I got some help from my friend who is a big MLP fan and she filled me in on the lore etc, as well as inspiration from another artist on here who also did a VV x MLP crossover, I reposted their amazing art on my other blog so def go check it out. Anyway, VV are sirens and disguise themselves as alicorns (but also hide their flanks as they have no cutie marks)

Day 31: Halloween!!! 🎃 👻 💀 🦇 🐈‍⬛ Last one!! This one took foreveerrrrr and again, I just had to try to outdo myself with the amount of bs happening on screen at once I tried to include all my main fav ocs, as well as the twins and KR all going door to door in a massive trick or treating horde

I called this the 'soft launch' of my Velvet and Veneer fan parents, Dr Velocity (mum) and Dr Voltage (dad), they're in matching Frankenstein and Frankenstein's wife costumes :3. They mean well of course as any parent does but their good intentions can get lost in translation (harsh punishments and struggling/refusing to understand their bizarre children). I will definitely give them their spotlight when I eventually get around to redesigning them (slightly) and writing out some information about them to share with you guys because I like them a lot :P

-Theres Glow Worm getting her costume repaired by Rhinestone after she ripped it doing multiple cartwheels in a row -Velvet and Veneer trading their sweets that they collected (you'd think they were discussing border placement or something, they take it so seriously) -Veneer and TV Girl finally getting along after telling their lame boyfriends to stop fighting with each other -And a zombie Boogie sketch I refused to finish whoops

"BEEP!" The ship's detection alarm woke her up but she kept her eyes closed and didn't move from her nap spot in the cockpit. She figured when the robotic woman's voice kicked in it would simply point out a meteor in the path and that the auto-pilot would re-direct. "Wreck detected. Scanning ship." Well, that wasn't how that was supposed to go. She opened her eyes and looked to the screens that displayed the exterior surroundings. On the screen that displayed what was to the east of her, there was a Pony Express delivery ship. "Hahh, Pony Express? There should only be one ship out since they went out of business." She walked over to the cabinets and took out the search and rescue binder than listed all of the ships that would be active during the year of her trip and when they were estimated to arrive at their destination. "Identification found. V-I-N Number XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Analyzing damage." (i certainly dont know enough abt vins to make one up and i couldnt find if the pony express ship has one)

She flipped to the page that would have that VIN if it was in service that year and confirmed it was the only active Pony Express ship. "External damage: seventy-six percent. Survivability chance: thirteen percent."

She laughed internally. "No way any one on that ship survived knowing Pony Express. Might as well check anyway." She shrugged and sat back at the seat, turning the auto-pilot off and setting it to dock at the Pony Express ship's boarding door. The auto-pilot kicked back in with the ship's new instructions. After a moment of calculations, the ship began slow movements to dock.

She left the cockpit to put on her suit in case the inside of the ship wasn't safe to breathe. Or, considering it was a Pony Express ship, it could not be safe to touch.

"Docking success. Making connection."

The intercom voice sounded through the ship just as she put on her helmet. She made her way to the boarding door and checked over herself to make sure she was set while she waited for the bridge to finish connecting. "Connected." The doors to the bridge opened and she stepped out onto it. She waited for the door back to her ship to close to prevent any possible contamination before approaching the Pony Express ship.

"A code?! I have to input a fucking code to get in? They really were setting their workers up for failure." She scoffed. "No wonder they went out of business, if it weren't for the automation of large deliveries, it would've been the lawsuits that continue to increase even after they went out of business."

She took her pocket sized toolkit out and fumbled with it before getting frustrated and taking her gloves off. She messed around with the code input section until it the screen come off and she could get to the innerworkings. From there, it was more fumbling, tinkering, and swearing at the complexities. When the doors finally slid open, she let out a sigh of relief and prayed there was something worth her time inside. Whether it was people or valuables, she didn't care much.

She walked through the halls, taking note of the many mouthwash bottles and the foam. It was a good idea in concept, but Pony Express' execution and need to cut corners made it do more harm than good. She picked up one of the empty bottles of mouthwash and looked over it, taking quick note of the nutrition label.

"Jesus- that amount of sugar would kill an old victorian child. This isn't cleaning anything!" She tossed the bottle behind her and kept walking.

Most hallways and doors seemed to be completely foamed over or locked shut. She figured she could do a quick look over the easy access places before trying to get into any of those. As she got closer to what was labelled as the living area on blueprints she had seen, she heard hushed noises. She couldn't tell if they were people talking or random noises from the ship. When she entered the living area and looked in, she immediately noticed the three living people sitting together and they noticed her.

"Holy sh- I didn't expect there to be anyone alive in here!" She said in shock.

"We're saved!" A boy with light hair and dark roots shouted as he ran to her and hugged her.

"Daisuke! You can't just grab random people like that." An older, scruffier looking man yelled at him. "Sorry..." He said with a sheepish grin and let go of her.

There was footsteps behind her and she turned around to see a man who looked like the one listed for the Pony Express ship's co-captain on her documents.

"Who are you?" The presumed co-captain asked her in an accusatory tone.

"I am Captain Arabella and I work with the No Boundaries Search and Rescue team. I was on patrol and your ship appeared on my radar. The company provided documents lead me to believe you are the co-captain Jimmy?" Arabella held out her hand for a handshake.

"I'm the acting captain currently. Curly is in no position to lead." Jimmy told her matter-of-factly as he shook her hand.

He had a firm grip but it still seemed off. Certainly felt like someone who had the makings to be a captain but something made her feel like he wasn't a good one. She couldn't help but wipe her hand on her suit after he let go and she couldn't tell if it was from phantom dirtiness or actual dirtiness. "Well, you all can board my ship and I can redirect to the nearest planet. I'll notify the landing crew and they'll have medics ready to look at everyone by the time we land." She tries to give them a reassuring smile but the weight of the co-captain's eyes on her made her uneasy. "We really are saved!" The boy from earlier, Daisuke, pumped his arm in the air triumphantly.

ppl saying they look to my comics for inspiration and pointers on how to format things is WILDDDD to me (and delightful don't get me wrong!! i am overjoyed) because like. none of you are privvy to the absolute WAHHH I DONT WANNNAAA bitchfits i was *CONSISTANTLY* throwing every time i forced myself to make a comic before i got into isat. like no joke. i considered comics such a fucking difficult medium they always drained my drawing energy so hard because they always felt like they took sooo long and had so many moving parts and were so much harder than storyboards (WHICH I ALREADY STRUGGLED WITH) because you had to account for panel shape and speech bubbles and-- like you get it. but genuinely for real. the sheer amount that i complained whenever i clawed my way through drawing a comic (which thus! was not very fucking much!!) compounded by the fact that i *genuinely have trouble reading comics*. as in, i really struggle to parse the flow of contiguous movement or action between panels (possibly connected to the fact ive got mad aphantasia?) of even really well done best-of-the-best professional comics...

... BUT. basically. what im trying to get at is. if you wanna learn to draw comics, evidently you super can?! I genuinely *didnt* draw comics before drawing isat fanart! I have no idea what it was about ISAT fanart that made it finally click for me? (I think it was... not having to think about colour? Removing a step from the process really helped. Plus, it being fanwork meant I could just start en-medias-res and not have to think about setup... Trying to cram too much explanation and setup into my oc stuff was always a big hurdle too...)

I find them fast to do now! and damn if i dont value speed in art (<- impatient little fucker). its still going slowly on my oc comics.. mostly due to the colour again, i think. but it's not extremely, ecruciatingly difficult anymore. is what im saying. and im genuinely baffled by it every time i put pen to page. its fucked up. did you guys know that practice makes things easier? . fucking perverted if you ask me.

As for looking at other people's things for inspiration. if you want to know where I was looking when I was piecing together the first couple fancomics I did for ISAT i want to specifically point at . well besides everything rebecca sugar has ever done (for hands and facial expressions *especially*), the main person i really dug into the work of was Leo Fox (Website link). I feel like i wanna point people to the source of a lot of the inspiration for my more off-kilter panel choices so you all can get the full experience rather than through my regurgitated mimesis. I'm now at the point where i can wing panel layout so i wasn't in there for longgg but. everyone go add it to your knowledge banks as for SUBJECT MATTER aka why i am i so deranged. those are squarely the 2019 postcanon homestuck golden era bleeding through my CLENCHED BITTEN DOWN JAW. A BULL TERRIER ON YOUR BRACHIAL ARTERY. namely that @/floralmarsupial and @/tomatograter's works (no i am not tagging them . im shy) are things i go back to frequently and floralmarsupials pure black/white inktober comics were *especially* an inspiration. if you've been following me a few months you may remember me reblogging a bunch of their stuff from 2019~2021 for seemingly no reason. this was why. The narratively divorced reality of jade strider & Liminal Space are big in my mind here. I balk to call myself anywhere near as good as these but these are what i'm aiming for, tonally and quality-ways with it. also detective pony but ive mentioned that already and thats farrrr too inside baseball for this post.

Okay so my main My Little Pony AU so far!:

Not gonna go into story just family rn.

Silver swirl and her twin brother Star swirl are set to become the next rulers in the family bloodline. Star swirl doesn't wish to marry, so Silver swirl does.

She courts with Prince Firefly, a changling.

Later they have three children:

Copper Glow

Silver Glow

Golden Glow

At large time jump in life, Firefly disappears and Silver Swirl decrees it as a divorce, which is unfortunate since she does find out she is carrying Celestia.

After awhile, she meets a bat pony named Blue Dream. They officially marry and have Luna.

The Glow triplets are adults by the time Celestia is Born, Copper gives birth to Amore.

Amore and Celestia treat each other like sisters rather than cousins.

After Luna is a tween, Opaline, Seabreeze and Apple Meadow are born.

Much later, Its decided that Celestia and Luna will rule the land for their great power, as well as being the first true Alicorns.

Opaline is jealous, as the Glows really just wanted to do what was best. Amore is assigned her own Kingdom by Celestia.

Later Cadence is born and Celestia takes on Sunset shimmer as her student. And much later Twilight Sparkle ( descendant of Silver Glow ) is born, and Luna takes in Twilight as her student ( in this universe Celestia is the one who becomes corrupt ).

All of the ponies here r from g2 or g4, or g5!

Opaline is from g5

Twilight, Cadence, Amore, Celestia and Luna are all g4 based

And everyone else is g2 based.

Seabreeze and Apple Meadow are just kinda OCs with g2 names slapped.on, however i may rework it so they look closer to them :3

Applejack is an earth pony, Twilight starts as an earth pony as well.

Fluttershy is a dragon/pegasus mix. She still prefers walking and talks quietly because shes afraid of getting so angry she'll blast fire.

Rarity and Rainbow Dash are ex friends in the beginning. Rainbow Dash was asked to become an Alicorn after the sonic rainboom, but Rainbow didn't want that responsiblity, and Rarity at the time was jealous as she would have taken it in asbolute. ( they were kids who didn't know any better at the time ).

Rainbow and Twilight are actually similar in the sense of their lessons. Showing anything is possible with a bit of extra hard work. Twilight being an earth pony who wants to learn magic, and Rainbow who wants to learn to go fast as a pegasus.

Pinkie pie is a pegasus !

Sunset doesn't go to the EQG world since i dont rlly want to expand on EQG. However she does go to different dimensions which is different than AUs in this world. Dimensions are just other worlds on the same world using portals. Kinda like SVTFOE.

Alicorns and a lot of the crazy and dark magic ( Sombra and Discord ) are from the Alicorn dimension.

Sunset starts off as a unicorn. She kind of is a main villain for awhile, but way later becomes an Alicorn sometime after Twilight as Twilights Achivement is helping Sunset and her friends.

Lily Lightly is brought in much later , as to bring balance. She is an earth pony, and her horn is fake. Is made of light as her birth mark on her head is a crystal.

( by balance i mean 2 unicorns, 2 alicorns, 2 earth ponies, and 2 pegasi ).

Spike's element is Imagination, and the first dragon to recieve an element ( other than Fluttershy )

Discord's wings and legs dont work, so he uses magic to float. But he doesn't mind proping himself up at times.

Star catcher is the first pony to do a sonic ()boom. Hers was a starboom. Her and Lily Lightly are earth ponies who uses magic from their crystals to fly or other appearences.

the crystal ponies are based off the g3 3d cutie marks and the crystal eyed ponies from g1.

Midnight Dream is Luna's royal adviser.

I DO have designs for the mane six, gonna work on Sunset, Lily, The princesses and nightmare moon at some point ( Nightmare Moon does exist in this universe! I'll talk about it in a different post ).

hook has prety good arm strength because. um. butcherin practices!

imp has not consumed inphernal meat to her knowledge!

if they had hair uhh theyd both have curly-coily type texture, hook would keep her hair shorter or in protective styles, when curly have it tied back or sm like that. imp would have hair about t to her shoulders or longer depending on style, some cute styles like maybe butterfly locs or passion twists

imp has snow leopard tail :3 she keeps it very nice and brushed! hook likes petting it and imp likes it being pet :]

imps the one that confessed first, and hook was like 'hell yea!! ^_^'

imp doesnt rlly use her gear, (implosion bomb) since its a bomb and she doesnt tend to get into conflicts, but if she was in one she'd throw it, and itd pull people towards it, of giving her time to flee. also shes a good runner.

hooks gear (deluxe hook shot) lets her ehem. acquire people by grappling them in, it has 4 claws with one of them being larger, which if needed, can essentially stab them and lethally injure them before they can even comprehend what happened.

when hook was in the cult she would use her gear to easily and quickly transport the bodies she had to clean up

hook used that large claw to rip her glass eye out, she was having a sorta mental break when she did it so her accuracy sucked, thats why the scar is so large and messy

imps not stupid, she knew about hooks business before they started dating. she started working alongside her for it a month or two after they started dating however.

i think hook and pwny (other oc, basically shes the pony express) have met before, before imp became hooks delivery person. hook had pwny taking a package to deliver to a customer, but halfway through the trip the smell inside the box becomes apparent and.. pwny no longer accepts deliveries from hook because of his own morals

3. Who is your favorite character outside the main 7?

This is kind of harddd man 😭 born to say Cherry forced to say Curly. Cherry's a character that we actually saw more of, but I have this idea of Curly in my head that's so perfect to me...he's like half my oc...I'm superrr attached to Cherry but I do have to be real w myself cuz whenever I see Curly's name mentioned in any fic or any post it's like a wild lion sighting i get sooo hype

5. What are your favorite ships?

this is NOT hard. My favorite ship is purly I'm an evil purly shipper. I don't typically do shipping because I'm that aroace who is romance repulsed not just for myself but in the media I consume too, but idk something about their dynamic I've half made up in my head abt them...I guess I just really like the dynamic of 2 bros who are friends who might also fall in love We dont know

MARBIT. I really like couples who just giggle together. Couples who justtt rock w eachotherrr something about them....Also they got that forbidden love thing going on and idk the power of laughter could save them. But other than that I'm a platonic power ranger

Johnny and Pony are really the best friends ever, and my idea of them might be fandom crutched more than what's shown in canon, but It don't matter anyway that book came out a bajillion years ago.

Johnny and Curly hating each other so bad. I think it's the funniest thing ever. Especially if they just don't like eadchother solely off of vibes ...or Curly doesn;t like Johnny bcz Johnny doesn't like him and he's like wtf 😕

It's never said outright but Johnny has anxiety disorder to me.

Ponyboy has low empathy and he just does things out of the kindness of his heart and not bcz "treat people how u want to be treated" bcz whatever LOL! he's autistic to me whatt who said that

I just finished your Magnum Opus, and it was super great. I especially loved the Pinkie chapter (which surprised me because she’s my least favorite character!). Anyway, do you have any mlp fic recommendations?

oh boy do i have a list for you, strap in!

if you read my magnum opus writeup, you may have seen i mentioned three authors that dragged me back into mlp. if you're interested in sciset (and what's probably the most popular eqg fic on the entire site), Long Road to Friendship by Albi is a longfic that started after the first eqg movie and is a rlly lighthearted read. i don't normally care for OCs but gosh if i dont accept Albi's version of trixie's parents as canon in my heart haha. if you're interested in pony adventure fic, i also rlly liked Sunset of Time, another rlly well done longfic ive carried in my brain since i first read it xd

the second author, Monochromatic, aka the raritwi authority aka someone who has a GREAT taste in editors, has written three of the most formative longfic ive ever read: The Enchanted Library, its sequel The Enchanted Kingdom, and Crimson Lips which i unfortunately can no longer link since she's taken it down, but i believe you can still buy physically through PFP if you wanted to take a gamble on it (it would be a very good gamble). apart from her longfic though i also adore some of her shorter works, including but not limited to The Choices We Make, a really interesting Pinkie study that's definitely shaped how i view her, Your Own Worst Enemy, which is just. peak rarity content, and Injuring Eternity, which while being one of her older works still has certain passages that wreck me emotionally on sight.

and the third author responsible for my magnum opus is the one and only Aragon, who i can not only recommend for his fics but ALSO for his blog posts and comics (see the comic index on his profile for links to all of them, as well as this amazing blogpost about his neighbour that is just peak comedy). he's also the writer responsible for the banger longfic Crime and Funishment which absolutely defined my writing aspirations for a few years and is the definition of comedy if you looked it up in my heart, as well as In Hindsight, yet another banger rarity fic, and Love Is In Doom which is just bloody, silly, stupid fun (and has sunset shimmer in it)

and then if we want to talk fics i love written by other authors, Sleepless Knights by r5h has my favourite brand of scitwi written right into the margins, Administrative Angel by horizon has one of the most amazing endings to an opening chapter ive ever read AND an amazing celestia, The Best Night Ever by Capn_Chryssalid is a fandom classic with a groundhog day twist on the gala episode from s1, Side by Side by Krickis is a feel-good rarijack oneshot w a focus on lgbt (specifically trans) themes, Wax Earplugs by Reedhoarse has a dysfunctional mess of an adagio dazzle that i adore, Merge Request by FanOfMostEverything has all the scitwi/midnight shenanigans you could ask for wrapped up in the relatable content of github hell, Guppy Love by PaulAsaran is a rarijack longfic with an incredibly realistic setting and an interpretation of mermaids that i love so much, Doused Flame by heartlessons has me handshaking on the "sopping wet pathetic relatable guy" flash sentry interpretation that won me over recently, 80 Days 'Til the World's Farthest Shore by Cynewulf feels like reading a professionally published short story (and i mean that in the best of ways, it's enthralling), and finally if you'll allow me to be self-centred a bit i also am very proud of my two oneshots Heartstrings and Something About Midnights if you wanted to check em out too xd

SpectraRealm or Spectra -

backstory - born in canterlot to two unicorn parents spectra was a very mild filly, never very noisy and extreme but had a good group of friends and was a normal amount of social. While being popular in school, she was well rounded and very smart. Her parents looked into Celestia's school of magic more as their daughter showed exponential growth in her magical abilities. She made it in and her school life was about as normal as it could be for a gifted student. For one of the classes celestia had the students practice a spell created by twilight sparkle that was easy enough for young ponies to complete, when performed for the class spectra got her cutiemark, a similar star to twilights, although lacking in some details.

Celestia was beyond shocked but waited until the end of class to take her to the side. She wanted her to meet someone, twilight sparkle of course. twilight and celestia struggled to find what this could possibly mean, she had connection to the elements somehow, but why? this isnt answered until nearly 10 years later. Starlight runs into the palace with devestating news, equestria, more specifically canterlot, is under attack. An old fasion group of changelings did not like the change found within their newer generations and in rebellion with the lack of the queen they had rebuilt their small population and crowned king morgue as the new leader. in revenge for the lost queen they had turned to canterlot already having attacked celestia and placed her in a chrystalis. spectra ran to the main palace where he had already attacked twilight and starlight. Twilight knew now, she told her to retrieve the elements of harmony, and pull out the one that looked like her cutiemark.

Spectra ran to the everfree forest just as twilight said, king morgue just on her tail as she manages to find the tree of harmony and obtain the elements. almost as if it had a mind of its own her magic pulled for a very specific stone in the tree which she now understood what her cutiemark was. With an almost protecting move the element pushed foward with a shielding force and a powerful explosion blew away all the changelings and their king. The element had dropped almost as if it was telling her it had done its job and she looked at first her hair, it was flowing as if weightless and it looked like celestias, than her wings! she was an alicorn! the new colors on her leg almost didnt matter anymore as she ran to the palace, comfused as to what to do now.

twilight and celestia greeted her in the palace and were just as pleasently surprised with the new alicorn princess as she was. twilight took spectra under her wing to take over her royal duties when she got old and ready to leave her job behind. at the death of twilight and her friends she was now the leading princess in rule of equestria.

also the hair thing is under the theory (based off of a lullaby for a princess) that the elements change celestias hair, i say twilights and her friends didnt bc the magic was more spread out but since spectra used them alone aswell (and in the same way technically going off my hc) she also recieved the hair change.

ooouuuu my main oc rp ask blog is kinda dead lol, was thinking of turning it into a coffee shop or flower shop au blog but i might make that its own blog... however i also kinda wanna do fandom rp blogs too... but i dont wanna overwhelm myself cause im busy with school... got a few ideas, which one would you guys be more interested in? FNaF - theres a few ask blogs i could make with this one!! i could do one for PatPat (my silly janitor bot for security breach!), i could do one for Marley!! (silly bluebonnets au thing, but the other person part of that isnt on tumblr :pensive:), and i could do one for Mathew!!! (silly kid who's searching for his dad :D ik ive made a post about him here before x3) Undertale - lets seee uhhh i could do one for my UT oc Echo!! but for their normal human.. or for monster echo is the question.... ooouuu i could also do one for Flowey/Asriel or Chara!! they're my favourites in the main game :3 ough i also have an old undertale au me and a friend made, fusion!tale!!! NOT a ship au dont worry. i would crumple. but the main premise was, Chara and Sans' soul got fused, and Asriel and Frisk's soul got fused. may change it up because at the time of making it we made our characters based on who we felt like! i felt a lot like a mix of sans and chara (because i was lazy and liked chocolate and was called the "fudge king" at school cause i'd always get fudge icecream bars) and my friend chose frisk and asriel, i dont remember their reasoning behind it. but they rp'd chara the most and basically identified as them for the longest time so really their fusion shouldve had chara in it lol. now-a-days i feel like all 4??? chara, sans, frisk, and asriel (i mean.. hehe i took asriel's name for my irl chosen name x3) Dandys World - ehehe not really sure what i wanna do for this one, maybe an ask blog for my star-time astro design? mayhaps also one for razzy dazzy?
