okay so the other notes from re-reading parts of Sea of Monsters (and also part of The Lost Hero) - so there’s this one part where Percy is noting some random things about other cabins at lunch. Interesting notes within that:

A.) Beckendorf is 15 in SoM, which does track for him having been supposed to go to college following TLO because that would make him 17 then, but also that implies he has a like late summer birthday. So do with that information what you will.

B.) the Hephaestus cabin is described as 6-7 (unclear if Beckendorf was being included in the group) brothers. Given what we know about the Hephaestus cabin later on, particularly that Jake Mason and Nyssa are implied to be the oldest in the cabin in HoO, this implies that Nyssa probably either joined immediately following SoM or is trans. Also, in The Lost Hero, Will mentions that Jake Mason became cabin counselor at the same time as him, which implies there was at least one unknown Hephaestus cabin counselor between Beckendorf and Jake Mason who died in the Battle for Manhattan.

C.) In Sea of Monsters, the Athena cabin is described as a dozen kids led by Annabeth, which confirms that Annabeth is cabin counselor by age 13 and also gives us a rough estimate of how large cabins were before campers began defecting in large numbers to the Titan Army (leaving about 50-60 total mortal forces for the Olympians/CHB, the discrepancy being an unknown amount of Ares kids joining the battle later). After TLO, CHB’s numbers rise again due to taking in ex-Titan Army kids and all the newly claimed demigods, and we know there’s about like 150 campers in CHB by HoO. Second discrepancy though, in The Lost Hero, Leo describes the Hephaestus cabin being also about a dozen kids. However, we only ever know the names of six of them (Leo, Jake, Nyssa, Harley, Shane, Christopher) and outside of Leo’s first introduction to his siblings we never see the rest of the alleged other half-dozen Hephaestus kids again. If there were a dozen Hephaestus kids in HoO, that would also completely mess up the total number of campers, because Hephaestus cabin is historically one of the smaller cabins and post-TLO the largest cabins would be Aphrodite and Ares (since Hermes cabin had all the previously cabinless kids redistributed and besides them the largest cabin was cabin 7 but all the Apollo kids died save for Will, Austin, and Kayla). Though given TLO casualties as we know them, Aphrodite cabin is probably the largest and Ares second-largest. Either way, if one of the smaller cabins has a dozen kids, then that would mean the larger cabins are probably close to like 20 kids, which completely ruins the math for what we know about CHB’s size at this point in the books. It makes sense for the Athena cabin to have a dozen kids in SoM because it’s implied to be a medium to large sized cabin comparatively to the Hephaestus kids, and this would mean the Apollo and Hermes cabins at that point would have closer to like 15-20 kids which makes sense for how crowded the Hermes cabin is described to be. But then CHB loses the majority of campers to either early war losses or campers defecting to the Titan Army, and even after regaining numbers in HoO no cabins are described as crowded. So no cabin should be having 15-20 kids at this point. If we weight the redistribution appropriately based on the estimated total population of camp, then there should be like at most like 8-10 kids in the most populous cabins.

esp for someone like oz who has identity crisis going on for him that he doesn't really care who he is as a person so long as it makes others happy (the way later he could care less if people see him as jack the hero rather than just oz)

also idk it never crossed my mind while i was rereading, but i love that this is just in chapter 2 -- that things would go bad if oz should ever lose sight of himself

bc that's the gist of oz's whole character arc, inching away from just being whatever people want him to be, shying away from his emotions, and accepting himself and what it means to be himself - emotions and past - alike.

a huge chunk of the pjo fandom has turned into such a superficial, judgemental and PROBLEMATIC group who defeat the purpose and point that the books were trying to make, it's so fucking atrocious. the prime example of mischaracterizing/reducing the value of characters who are already misunderstood/misjudged in canon. this fandom does this to every.single.character.ever omg

percy jackson is so relatable to many people is because he didn't have to capacity to absorb textbook knowledge but was HIGH on street smart knowledge that got him to succeed. the whole point of his character is that he had low self esteem because he was ridiculed at school by the faculty and the students for being a 'dumb' and 'useless' guy that made him think he's an inconvenience to his mom. the baggage he carried is so overlooked.

the fandom saying stuff like 'annabeth had adhd and dyslexia too but she carried percy' is so fucking disrespectful. one, she's an athena kid who's supposed to be smart that's like the whole point, and that does NOT mean percy wouldn't survive without her. he's a DIFFERENT character and he doesn't need to be a scholar to be a powerful demigod who has his own identity. stop belittling him and comparing all of their adhd/dyslexia struggles. just because annabeth is smarter does NOT mean percy has less value than her, and that whatever comes out of his mouth is just silly gibberish, which is exactly what y'all are trying to imply. no he did NOT get by with just "luck" he's smart and capable enough to actually achieve things. It isn't rocket science.

making jokes like his only purpose is to have a goofy personality and wondering how he 'pulled' annabeth is NOT cute whatsoever. just deprives him of his canon developement and fails to recognise him as an important person because he is not book smart. the level of belittlement. in a way rick also contributes to this character assassination because he added another scene of piper saying something along the lines of 'thank god annabeth is there to keep percy from going wild/doing something stupid' like no miss girl

I could go on about how the fandom infantilizes nico, brushes of hazel's flaws/traits because she's a 'smol' bean (when she literally cusses out octavian, why do y'all hate the idea of her being bold/badass when she literally is??) belittling frank's power because he's 'just an innocent goof', saying stuff like 'in my head leo is a tall guy because rick did him dirty with the height when he is so hot' that's basically implying that he loses his attractiveness because he's short and wanting to confine him into those toxic masculinity standards

slandering rachel and calling her a pick me for liking annabeth as though annabeth already had a claim over percy in BOTL when he wasn't even in a relationship and even had a small liking to rachel (belittling BOTH rachel and percy in the process, is percy not allowed to have feelings too? is he only obligated to like annabeth?), also with the fandom's clear misogyny in their treatment of nico liking percy vs rachel liking percy, go on a moral policing hunt when it comes to jason, piper and percy but goes right ahead to defend and glaze luke's behaviour to annabeth, percy and silena (also victim blaming silena because she was manipulated as a teenager by a fully grown adult who KNEW what he was doing, using her)

stubbornly not wanting to recognise jason as an important character and reducing him into a 'whiney pick me guy who wanted everything to be about himself' and that he's 'boring' not realising that his abusive environment both as a baby and as a teenager suppressed him into struggling and not being able to feel worthy to even have feelings of his own, villianizing and getting on pipers throat for calling percy unimpressive simply because she LOVED and was LOYAL to her then boyfriend?? is she not allowed to have a preference??? heck id be more concerned if she did call percy hot whilst being in a relationship wtf.

and DONT get me started on the grover belittlement and erasure please, saying that percy and grover are only annabeth's 'sidekicks' on quests, as though he wasn't capable to go on a hunt for pan all by HIMSELF not knowing he'll ever be back.

man im just like. thinking about egg signs and how they've evolved over the course of the qsmp and how the qsmp has evolved over the course of the qsmp and just feeling so much love and affection for every part of the project. i dont have any grand overarching point with this just. like. here's a history of egg comms bc of the kind of person that i am

so wayyyy back ten months ago now at the start of the short and sweet egg event that was planned to last maybe a month at most, the eggs had their own custom, decorated signs!

They were extremely simple, single word signs. There was hello, hola, story, feed, sleep, and maybe one or two more and each was its own separate sign. The eggs could only communicate the most basic needs in words and everything else was through minecraft body language or just hoping their parents guessed right.

But obviously, there was a lot more that parents wanted to hear from their children. I'm not sure who was actually first, but the earliest departure from this system I know about is BadBoyHalo giving Dapper a simple oak sign so he could name his pet slime. (Screenshot from @/lxrd-ren)

Parents quickly realized how much more convenient this was and pretty soon every single egg had stacks of signs to communicate with.

The next innovation came from Vegetta, who was the resident mod knower at the time. He knew about colored canvas signs and gave Leo signs in her favorite color purple because he loved her and gave her everything she wanted.

Colored signs obviously had a lot of advantages. Being able to tell at a glance which egg placed which sign was a huge step forward in eggs being able to have long, complicated conversations as well as leaving obvious marks of their personality everywhere they went. It took a little while for them to be standard for every egg though. Bobby never stopped using oak signs even after Richas and Pomme both showed up with colored signs.

And this was the system for a while! And it worked pretty well for most people! The biggest struggle most people had was egg signs not being translated, but streamers adjusted to that by reading signs out loud so the translators would pick up on them. This also lead to adorable and fascinating dynamics like Richas swearing in signs he wrote for Bad and then warning Bad not to read them out. There was also the genuinely phenomenal development of Leolingo where Leo writes only in Spanish to Foolish because it's easier for her to write and he takes his time to puzzle his way through it and learn in a way that's super cool to watch someone else do onscreen.

Then Tubbo joined the server. And Tubbo himself had no problems at all with the system, but he is dyslexic and he casually mentioned offhand that it was getting kind of annoying to read signs after a ten hour long stream and the admin team Fucking Cooked.

Within 24 hours, they had TTS working on the signs. Within 48 hours, it was working on books too. I can't remember how long it took to get translation working, but it was definitely under a week.

And this opened up a whole new world of possibilities for the entire QSMP. The admin team has been on top of capitalizing on it for story purposes, but also just allowing the egg admins to speak in their native languages to everyone whenever they want has been so enriching for everyone involved. Leolingo is awesome but Foolish has been learning Spanish insanely fast and his process is a lot slower and more frustrating than most people can do in front of an audience of thousands of people without feeling discouraged. That's also one language. We've had everything from Foolish being able to check his work a bit more faster to Phil insisting on his eggs taking a day to speak to him in their native languages to Ramón writing a book for Fit in Cantonese, a language we haven't even seen on the server in any other context!

And all of it is fully understood and fully communicated! Sometimes the translators mess up but no one expects them to be perfect and people ask for clarification if the translator says something that doesn't sound right. It's not only a massive step forward in communication technology, but it's a great demonstration of how to use it and when you can and can't rely on it.

And finally, the most recent innovation! One of BBH's viewers sent him a dono saying they had trouble reading certain signs because they were too low-contrast. Bad, Richas, and Pomme just. Took it upon themselves to fix the problem right there and then. Based on One (1) bringing up their own personal struggle, those three came up with new signs that innovate tremendously on the originals.

There are three main innovations visible in the above pictures

1: Obviously, the colors are higher contrast. The signs with white text have darker colors and the signs with black text have lighter colors.

2: The colors themselves are lower saturation. Richas said this made it easier for him personally to read them so he corrected that way, but that's open to change if it causes difficulties for more people than it helps

3: The decorations are for accessibility reasons! People with various different forms of colorblindness will find different sets of colors easier or harder to distinguish, but any of them can look at the decorations and use them to identify whose sign is whose instead.

But! Those innovations are not why I made this post! It's these ones!

Richas added distinguishing marks to the backs of the signs too! This is something that Bad brought up specifically as something he wanted because it was hard for him to tell who was talking when he was using TTS from behind signs and couldn't see the colors at all.

We went from custom egg signs (a hotbar or so of words and nothing else to communicate with) through a long journey of expanding communication and expanding who we're bringing along on the communication and how easily they can join in and we've circled all the way back around to custom egg signs (they can say anything they want in any language they want and anyone will know it's them saying it from any angle)

and i guess i have enough feelings abotu that to write All This about it

Leo tries to act cool when you fall asleep on his shoulder, but inside?

Total panic.

He smirks to himself, thinking, "Of course they trust me, I am the best."

But his smugness doesn’t last long because you shift slightly, and his heart does a flip

He freezes, suddenly hyper-aware of every movement

If anyone walks in, he’s quick to gesture for them to shut up

Sneaks glances at you like a lovesick idiot and gets caught once or twice by Donnie or Mikey, who don’t let him live it down

When you wake up, he’s back to his usual teasing self: “Comfortable, huh? Can’t say I blame you; I am pretty irresistible.”

Raph tenses up immediately when your head lands on his shoulder

His first instinct is to make sure you’re okay: "Did they fall asleep? Are they sick? What’s happening?"

Once he realizes you’re just resting, he lets out a soft breath and relaxes a little

He doesn’t want to move an inch in case he disturbs you

Looks down at you every so often with the softest expression

If Mikey or Leo walk by, they give him teasing grins, but he just glares silently, daring them to say something

Secretly, he’d let it happen again in a heartbeat.

Donnie is startled when your head lands on his shoulder, but he quickly recovers, though his cheeks are bright red

“Ah, well, this is... unexpected,” he mutters under his breath, trying not to freak out

He’s not used to physical closeness, so it takes him a moment to adjust

Once he does, he sits as still as a statue

Absolutely takes a mental note of the exact angle and time of this event, because he’s secretly very touched that you feel safe enough to fall asleep on him

When you wake up, he’ll act all nonchalant

But his voice might give away how flustered he actually is: “Oh, you’re awake. Did you, uh, sleep well?”

Mikey is ecstatic when you fall asleep on his shoulder

He immediately starts grinning like a dork

He doesn’t sit still, though

He’s constantly shifting slightly to make sure you’re comfortable, whispering things like, “You good, sleepyhead?”

Takes a selfie with you

(with your sleeping face hidden, of course)

and sends it to his brothers with a caption like: "I’m the fave! 💖"

Low-key proud that you feel safe with him and will brag about it later

When you wake up, he’s all sunshine and sweetness: “Aw, you woke up? You looked so peaceful!”

Might even ask if you want to nap on him again because he loved the experience so much.

It feels like Donnie always has a bundle of nerves. While Leo seems to have a more chill attitude. At least on the outside.

So I kind of write them like that.

One example I can think of on top of my head is Mant Unhappy Reminders.

Where Leo says to everyone to trust him, but it seems to the others that he is not taking it seriously. But had a plan, but does not communicate it.

Comparatively, when Donnie faced the Shredder, at least in the stadium. He was the only one who was shaking like a leaf. And teeth chattering.

He had a moment when he said “Eat science,” scene. But when that didn't work, he kind of just started having a breakdown and crying. And such.

Also, when the Shredder returns, I think Donnie might have froze.

when shredder broke his tech his first instinct was to scream and flee!! honestly i cant tell if his tech-bo activated on its own or not but regardless that was what saved his life and he didn't expect it to, and pretty much the SECOND shredder gets knocked away from him he collapses. im also thinking about minotaur maze when his first instinct is to scream for help repeatedly when he's in a life-or-death situation, its very telling

(also actually when people do post many unhappy returns fics nobody ever acknowledges that donnie also got the SHIT beaten out of him in end game when the others didnt because he was holding off draxum from the front??? like he's visibly super fucked up afterwards??? guys you could use this if youre treating their injuries realistically anyway, especially with the added angst of him having to fight all day after even though he was already pretty banged up)

donnie is VERY vocal when he's afraid and his confidence is very easily shaken when he fails on the field, i think he's shown to have to fall down and just breathe through it after close calls when the others dont. he's very jumpy, unexpected loud noises freak him out, he freezes when he's out of immediate danger etc etc. he's not someone who hides it while leo usually does. leo feels like he has to be strong for his family, while donnie doesnt.

like lol leo locks tf in and focuses on the field when things get life-or-death (also very apparent in the fight with the kraang, where despite being under the threat of death he's focused enough to make split-second decisions, the line about missing on purpose!!) and donnie panic and freaks out LMAO (jumping in front of mikey to take the hit was completely instinctual by contrast! if he had leo's kind of focus he probably would have made something a lot more structured than that split second shield; donnie's ninpo reflects it well, he needs time to prepare before he jumps in while leo can think quickly)

So I have a few questions for the minecraft bois. (Btw, I freaking LOVE your artstyle, I'm just hyperfocused on minecraft because I've been in a crafty mood)

How does Raph react to Screechers? I mean, you say he doesn't have as strong a connection to the Sculk, but it's still there right?

Have the boys ever found a way to satisfy Donnie's need to be submerged (i.e. giving him a fire res potion so he can take a lava bath)

Why does Leo love Chorus fruit so much, and more importantly, will he ever be able to go to The End to gather some for himself?

How do the boys interact with their home environments? (Like, how does Donnie feel about Shulkers, does Mikey enjoy cooking using Nether materials, etc.)

With Raph and the screechers, They dont summon him, no matter how much they go off. Though if hes close enough to them then he'll get an uneasy 'feeling' (though it was random for a while, and had no clue why it was happening)

None of the Boys or April are good enough at enchantments and potions to start creating their own (yet), So making it from scratch is off of the table. (Theyve also been banned from attempting after April blew the side off of a mountain)

Instead, Donnie sometimes searches the old tomes in the End Cities. Though most of the books are unreadable now, the rare few are still ledgible. Maybe one will be able to give him immunity to water.

Leo got hooked on Chorus fruit once Donnie started visiting the End and brought some back with him. Its his favourite fruit hands down. And he always has a blast teleporting around. (hes eaten it enough that he can almost control where he goes but its really unreliable)

Also he thinks it's hilarious that sometimes when he tps an Endermite will spawn and Donnie will just go absolutely batshit trying to kill it. Peak Comedy.

Leo would do anything to get his hands on the fruit. Which gives Donnie a massive bargaining chip, which he flaunts a lot.

Until April finds the End Portal, Leos gotta rely on Donnie for his Chorus Fruit supply.

Donnie was pretty uninterested in Shulkers. They didnt really do anything (at least to him) after all. Though once he found out what he could use their shells for??? Their population took a nosedive.

And Mikey absolutely cooks with Nether materials! they're his favourite! especially the mushrooms. And with four hands, he can do so much more cooking!!!

Raph always liked the fact you were so cool. no matter the situation, you always made it seem as if it was just like any other day. He admired that about you, it rivaled his own hot-headedness in a way only you could.

But now as he sat on the toilet, all bloody and bruised up. He wondered where that side of you went.

He understood where you were coming from but it's like his ego prevented him from accepting it, any time he tried speaking up was immediately shot down.

He faked an annoyed sigh as he looked in the opposite direction, trying to ignore the stinging pain on his right bicep.

He nearly shivered at the heavy sigh you let out, the hot air tickling his skin.

“Raphael.” you spoke sternly, the mere tone of your voice enough to have Raphs heart pounding inside his chest.

He coughed, trying his best to keep up the bravado.

"Yeah.?" He felt your eyes bore into the back of his head, wincing at the slight pain of the needle penetrating his skin.

“look at me.” you ordered.

He gulped before shakily turning to look at you. not because he was scared, hell no! It's obviously because of the large gash you were currently stitching up. Yeah, definitely.

“What the fuck were you thinking? Did you seriously think you wouldn't get hurt? God, Raph. Sometimes I swear your ego makes you fucking stupid.” You stared daggers into Raph's eyes before continuing to stitch the gash.

He flinched once more, "But i-"

You turned your head sharply, glaring at Raph with the usual twinkle and calmness from your eyes completely gone. His breath hitched, it wasn't like you to be so...

“no 'Buts' Raph, what you did was fucking idiotic. if it weren't for Leo, I'd have to fix up more of your wounds. All that just to impress me?” you turned back to focus on finishing the stitch, the thread was severed with a quiet 'snip'

Raph's eyes widened at the last sentence, you couldn't have possibly known right? He never told anyone, he even tried his best to hide it.

"What?" Was all he could manage, staring at you with wide eyes. He followed you even as you knelt down to get the bandages from the cabinet under the sink.

“dont play games with me Raph, I see the way you act around me. The shit you pull off was practically upped tenfold, even your brothers could see that.” a faint blush making its way onto your cheeks, to which you promptly hid by applying alcohol on the cotton balls.

Raph's heart sank. if you knew all along, why didn't you say anything? Did you not like him back?

As he stared at the floor in thought, he only slightly registered the fact you were once again kneeling Infront of him. He hissed at the stinging pain of alcohol on the other cuts, you reacted by simply glancing at him.

You sighed, putting the used cotton balls in the trash, standing up. You cupped both of his cheeks, gently having him look at you. Your gaze still tense and sturdy, but a hint of empathy comforting Raph just a little.

Raph stared up at you, shock and guilt written all over his face.

“you worried me half to death, Raph.”

He felt himself shrinking under your stern gaze. Looking off to the side in an attempt to hide his embarrassment.

You took the bandages and wrapped them tightly around his arm, just tight enough to keep the wound closed.

“Raph?”

"Yeah..?"

You kissed the top of his head.

“next time, don't be such a dumb fuck. Be a good boy and stay safe for me.”

Raph sat there with wide eyes and rosy cheeks, barely registering the fact you had already left the bathroom. His fingers grazed over the spot you kissed him at, his heartbeat getting more and more prominent in his chest. But this time, it was accompanied with butterflies in his stomach.

Maybe he did have a chance.

It’s at an impromptu, unsupervised bonfire that you first give in to this previously unexplored point of contact. Your heart pounds, brain lagging as it catches on to bits of chatter from the campers and the crackling fire. The smells of smoke and marshmallows overwhelm your senses, the wood from the log bench digging against the back of your thighs.

It’s fine. It’s fun. You are having fun with your friends—especially with your boyfriend, Leo. But it’s also kind of a lot.

Unable to think of what else to do, you lean over and bonk Leo’s shoulder with your forehead.

Leo lets out a soft laugh. “Is this some kinda new dance move, or are you saying it’s time to go to bed?”

You let out a non-committal hum. You do want to leave soon, though it’s not urgent.

“Okay,” Leo started patiently. “Feel free to give me a bonk when I get the right answer…you want to leave right now…you don’t wanna leave any time soon…you wanna leave after this next song—“

At the last answer, you give him another bonk, nuzzling into the crook of his neck. You don’t feel like being too touchy with him, though his warmth tethers you, dampening the overwhelming feeling of everything else for just a moment.

“You’re so right,” Leo replies with an exaggerated yawn. “One more song, and then bedtime.”

He bonks your leg lightly with his, a promise of his own.

swindle isn't even rlly in the story tbh but here he is. he should NOT have an insignia because this is moreso a civilian swindle. he's a strong and resiliant little feller but really probably shouldn't carry all that shit around on a battlefield. i just dont feel like going back and fixing it. also! combiner teams uhhh they exist! but i think maybe instead of combining they're just in a herd together like soulmates but its besties u know what im sayin. heavily taking from his wfc design (why he has cloven hooves... i love his silly pedes) since we don't get any CONFIRMED visuals on him in tfone..

considering changing jet wings to "feather" wings? and making megatronus prime a griffin because the seekers are griffins.. The two chains across the chestplate btw are like a motif in his court. Megatron, Ironhide, and the high guard all fall under his court

and a d-16 :) dont mind why he looks so judgmental.. this was supposed to be a comic. giving arcee the side eye... glad i focused on the designs first i fucking love his shin guards he's so pretty

hound! under liege maximo's court, and like megatronus' chains, liege's court has a motif in the horns. again, no cogged form so i had to kinda blend his cogless one design with his idw and foc designs? i really like his funny chestplate in g1. forgot his insignia but he is a decepticon in this one he was one of the first teehee

still going between horse and lion for optimus. heres pax though with victory leo's body as his lower half :) he was born under alpha trion's court and also all the lions in the japanese continuity?? forgot his insignia but maybe this is also civilian era (drops my head on the table and screams) also theres no reason for him to have a halberd he doesn't use one i just.. put it in his hands.

and alpha trion these last two admittedly arent great because i drew them just now when i woke up. way too top heavy but i'll fix it later when i start finalizing everyone's refs (this fool thinks he'll be interested long enough to finalize designs).. forgot hsi fucking autobot insignia too </3 also might give those under his court a cape which would mean i could give orion pax a cape too teehee.

let me talk about leo and donnie’s matching clothes pLEASE

plus a lil bit of mikey and raph near the end :>

so we all know the obvious ones like in ‘repairin’ the baron’ and in ‘man vs sewer’

but i want to talk about the little things hehe. starting with the two mentioned above anyways lmaooo

yes they’re matching but i love the little differences they add on. leo wears a blue undershirt, fully going ride or die with his blue theme, while donnie goes for a white undershirt for a more classic look.

i think that says a lil but about their characters and how they thought to present themselves to april’s mum (who they thought they were meeting). they both wanted to look good hence the stunning matching outfits, but leo also wanted to be himself (hence the blue undershirt), compared to donnie who wanted to appeal to april’s mother (hence the more classic look with the white).

in man vs sewer, they are both wearing the singlet and board short combo, however leo opts for simplicity and ‘laidbackness’ keeping the bare minimum and keeping his shirt loose and untucked. donnie on the other hand goes further and adds the extra decorative shirt to really hammer home the ‘i’m not a useful member of society’ and the holiday/break vibes he’s trying so hard to feel. he also chooses to tuck his shirt in, which i think is just a personal stylistic choice, one which extenuates and shows off the board shorts more and one which mirrors his belt that’s a part of his usual outfit.

now onto snow day :>

at a brief glance it doesn’t seem like they’re matching but you’d be wRONG! they’re wearing the same shoes, pants and scarf, however they choose different jackets and headgear according to their personal tastes (i also wanna point out how donnie’s pants are more boxy/puffy at the bottom to fit with his whole rectangle theme, while leo’s are tucked in firmly, providing a more angular/triangular look).

leo chose a sirius black looking leather jacket bc why wouldn’t he lmaooo. it very much screams leo in the sense of his faceman attitude and his ‘confidence.’ he also chose a beanie which provides a more hippie, laidback and cool vibe.

donnie, ever the nerd, matches his jacket and headwear, as they both have the light purple fluff. donnies jacket is also much more practical and feels like something you’d see skii-ers (how tf do you spell that), hikers and snow-bikers wear. he’s also wearing the ugliest fucking hat /lh that’s reminiscent of what those occupations also wear.

so what we can take away from this is that leo will look cool whatever the weather and donnie will dress for the practicality of the occasion.

now in the clothes dont make the turtle there are A LOT of matching outfits, not just from donnie and leo, for example, in the images above, all the boys are wearing classic black suits with white button downs, however they all style them differently.

i’d also like to note the slight differences on the collars of the suit jackets (leo and donnie’s are matching, mikey’s is more rounded with a lil point and raph’s mirrors his spikes).

they all style their suits differently by using different ties. leo goes for a black and blue striped tie, which i think showcases his sense of style and his playfulness in comparison to raph, who decides to play it safe with a classic one-toned tie.

mikey goes for a cute bowtie bc why wouldn’t he he’s adorable, and it also fits in with him being the youngest and ‘the baby’, as bowties are most commonly worn by kids.

donnie decides to completely forego the tie altogether bc he doesn’t need it, he’s already stunning 😩 lmao but i actually think he’s just really playing into his emotionally unavailable bad boy image.

there’s also these matching monstrosities for god knows what reason

and it’s not super matchy, but raph and leo also both rock the singlet under the open button down shirt (though the colours are swapped and leo pops the collar causes he’s an idiot /aff)

and lastly!! these outfits. now at first glance, you’re probably thinking ‘elva what the fuck are you going on about’ BUT just hear me out!!

they both have ripped aspects to their outfits, leo’s at the shoulders and donnie’s at the waist. it’s obviously not an intentional match but i think they just subconsciously did it :>

they’re also both wearing head accessories, though in totally different styles (leo with his backwards cap to look ‘cool’ while donnie adorns a beanie to complete his LA hipster vibe)

A/n: Sorry for not posting a fic in awhile, I got a huge wave of demotivation (I'm also running a jason grace rp blog ( @jason-the-kabob ) )

When you walked into bunker 9, all you saw was a mad house.

Empty soda cans littering the floor, screws, scrap metal, and tools. Anything you would find in a hephestus kids' hands was littered around Leo Valdez's workspace in Bunker 9.

"Leo?" You called out after not seeing him in his usual seat. The reason you came into bunker 9 was to find leo after he missed lunch for the 4th time this week.

"Over...over here!" You heard his familiar voice call out. He sounded tired, worn down, frantic even.

You frown as you walk over to the source of Leo's call, where you find him rummaging through scrap pieces of metal and other machinery while mumbling under his breath.

"Uh, Leo? ... I brought you food." You said, your concern increasing with every mumble that escaped his lips.

"Yeah, yeah... thank you, I'll eat it later." Leo mumbled like he was in a trance. You were 95% sure he was going to forget about it until he accidently knocks it over.

You set down the plate of food on a nearby work table and grabbed Leo's arm to steer his gaze towards you.

Leo turned to meet your eyes. You saw the bags under his own half-lidded eyes and the pure exhaustion in them.

You immediately knew he needed rest. No matter how much he'll say 'he's fine' and 'doesn't need it'. Leo Valdez will be taking a nap, even if you have to knock him out.

"Leo." You said, your tone serious and yet concerned. Leo hummed in response, his attention focused only on you. Or at least, his eyes were solely focused on you. His hands were fidgeting with a piece of scrap machinery and metal.

"You need rest. You haven't slept in awhile—and dont try lying and saying you fell asleep while you were working, that does not count, Leo Valdez." You told him, looking him dead in the eye to try and get you point across.

Leo huffed and started on a ramble. "But—but i have so much stuff to get done! The demigod-safe phones, i-i just need to tweak a few things and then i promise I'll—"

You grabbed his chin, your face inches from leos, putting him in enough temporary shock to get him to stop talking. You could feel his breath spreading over your face.

"Sleep." Was all you said.

Leo whined but gave in.

He sleepily stumbled over to his couch in the corner of bunker nine which was covered in both pillows and blankets, plopping down on his back with a loud 'mmph!'

Leo looked to you with pleading eyes, and you knew what was coming next. You wished you would've left as soon as he hit the couch.

Leo made these grabby-grabby hands towards you with a whine.

"Cuddleeeee." He whimpered.

"Leo, this is why there are rumors spreading around camp about us having an affair or something."

"I don't care. C'mere or I'm not sleeping."

"Your siblings will find us here. They'll–"

"C'mereeee."

Well, you weren't just gonna let him die of exhaustion.

With a dramatic groan, you walked over to Leo, who was laying comfortably with half-lidded eyes and waiting for you to join him.

You sighed deeply before plopping down onto Leo's chest and wrapping your arms around his torso.

Leo's embrace was rather... warm. It was comforting, like how a home should feel.

Leo wrapped his arms carefully around you, tracing circles around your back. You shivered at the soft, yet hot touch.

You're a little glad you didn't leave so soon.

This was nicer than you expected.

You carefully nuzzled up into Leo's neck, triggering a shiver out of him.

Gods, he was so warm. Why was he so comfy? It seems a little abnormal to feel this much like a home.

"Maybe," Leo spoke all of a sudden, though his voice was quiet and sleepy.

"Maybe this should happen more often." He whispered.

You took In his words, slowly memorizing the way he pronounced every word subconsciously.

"...maybe. though, you shouldn't be one step into the grave next time." You retorted back, a little... relived he was just as eager for other moments like this.

You had never been more peaceful.

Leo chuckled. "Alright, alright. I'll take better care of myself. For you, love." He whispered into your ear, his breath hot against you.

"You...you better." You mumbled, a little thrown of course by the petname. You snuggled into him further like it was the only thing keeping the both of you alive.

Leo only chuckled, but you knew the truth.

On the inside, he was estatic to have this with you again.

And maybe, just maybe, something more.
