thinking about "it's unreasonable to assume that a character knows what genre they're in" and how in series 1-3, Merlin (and the audience) thinks that he's in a fantasy adventure comedy. no one realises that he's in a tragedy until it's too late.

Honestly, don't give me nandermo if you don't feel like it (weird, given everything that has happened since season 3, but ok), but the only other possible ending is Nandor learning to be on his own and realizing romantic love won't fix all his problems and... idk, finding his own purpose beyond other people. Like, it'd make sense for him to end up with Guillermo; anyone else would be forced and detrimental for his character arc.

Also having the male character whose relationship with another man has been teased for years ending up with the only single woman in the cast after going "haha, let two guys be friends uwu" in every interview feels homophobic af.

I think we might see an Agatha sacrifice for Billy.

Because she would be keeping him alive when she couldn't keep Nicholas alive.

Because dying might mean she could be with Rio.

Because finding a way to reverse her siphoning would mean that she can control it.

Because Rio cannot kill Agatha.

Because if Agatha dies, Billy can probably bring her back.

You know what? Buck also deserves to experience what a good, loving reciprocal relationship looks like and feels like. I'm Buddie endgame, always, but I want them both to be READY damnit, and Buck’s track record up to now has been him bending himself out of shape to be whatever he thinks his partner needs. And the way they are writing Tommy? Like, he's grown so damn much from his Chimney/Hen begins days. He knows HIMSELF, he ACCEPTS himself and he doesn’t need Evan (love love love that he calls Buck Evan BTW!) to be anything but a baby bi. He knows the job, so he's not running, as far as we know he doesn’t need emotional support, he has his career and they are COMPATIBLE, and he's already seen Buck at his worst, most petty and he KISSED HIM ABOUT IT!!!!! and also I will die on this hill, nobody try sway me, he knows he himself is not Buck’s forever and he's absolutely cool with that. So Buck can have a nice, just NICE AND EASY relationship, figure out what he likes in a partner, how to solve conflicts like an adult, experience being appreciated for EXACTLY WHO HE IS - and when the time is right, be exactly the kind of partner and father he WANTS to be for his forever FAMILY

Oh, it turns out Ian flynn worked on the Shadow animated shorts, he did a pretty good job consider he doesn't always get Shadow right in idw

I'm aware. With the amount of #knowingsmiles posted during the initial announcements, it's hard to not know he was involved.

He also wrote the Knuckles short in Frontiers which I also really liked but I attribute that being thanks mostly for having to work under Tyson Hesse's direction.

Shadow being ok in these shorts happened thanks to Sonic Team giving a LOT more direction and scrutiny on the scripts since it's held to a much higher standard as part of the games than Flynn was for IDW. (which still didn't stop him from inserting some of his fanfiction sourced flynnisms but what it do)

One hopes that this closer work relationship with Sonic Team will teach him how to properly write these characters and internalize the art of writing Sonic Stories in the future. I have my doubts tho since some of the writing in the shorts IS still pretty contrived (wouldn't be on brand for him if it wasn't) and ignores established lore to make the plot make sense like Shadow not warping directly into the Space Ark as he's done before. But nope, we gotta have big fight sequences so let's raid a base for a shuttle he doesn't need!

And I say this as someone who enjoyed it overall and thought the fight scenes were hype. But I'd like fight scenes to have thought behind the spectacle, not without.

How do you think Mathias and Erik are actually going to get together? Do you think Erik will initiate it, do you think Mathias will get angry and accidentally blurt it out in a rant, do you think they’ll be tension and it’ll just happen in the heat of the moment? Something else?

I feel like it has to be Erik initiating them getting together and initiating their next kiss because it wouldn't make sense for Mathias to suddenly turn around and desperately want Erik again. I hope for tension, and for Mathias to get with another guy making Erik super jealous followed by him having to think about why he's so jealous seeing another guy getting kissed by Mathias 🤭

I'm curious when the Olivia relationship that's coming will fizzle out. I do think we'll definitely get tension between Matherik and Erik going through some kind of crisis before realizing Mathias is who he wants. I don't really know how it will actually happen though, maybe Erik asking Mathias for forgiveness and being angry at himself for losing him and then Mathias kissing him to shut him up. I'd love for a scene where Erik talks to his mom about Mathias. I want Erik to show initiative and be pining for Mathias the way Mathias has been pining for him.

If anyone has any other theories on how you think they'll end up together feel free to share, I'm curious

*fully sweating bullets and thousand yard staring into space as the king of hearts starts to talk about losing the person you love and what you'd be willing to do to get them back* this better not be fUCKING thematic foreshadowing for what this story is meant to head towards eventually (I say, with little hope and great trepidation). we're just going to be thematically microdosing on that in the main krew right folks. no one's going to be lost forever. right??!?!

(though I must admit that the idea of some of them dying and being brough back because that is someone else's heart's desire -- because 'what would even be the point of being given anything else, if you aren't here with me' -- would render me fully incapable of being normal ever again and forever goodnight)

that scene when buffy saves spike is so powerful and so touching, i think this is def in like top 5 most emotional spuffy moments in the whole show</3333333 buffy's gaze at what they've done to him, spike's slow look of realization, the smile of relief (the look of love too and buffy staring right back at him with all the care in the world (and love but...) the touch of confirmation, the arms around the neck/arms around the back walk out </33333

I think the wider gravity falls fandom would benefit from realizing that alex hirsch is not some kind of genius and is rather just some guy who loves trolling people and is very clearly flying by the seat of his pants at all times on every creative decision he makes
