Day 43 - 15 Days BL Challenge (part 3)

Day 43 - Let’s get delulu, which branded pairing should just get married already? (Note: this is all for fun and giggles, we’re not actually speculating on anyone’s sexuality or relationships.)

Edit: Fair warning, this post got away from me, so here's a tangent about BL pairs first. I won't get offended if you just skip to me talking about BillyBabe.

When it comes to BL pairings I'm very much someone who won't 100% believe that a BL pairing is actually dating as long as there's any financial gain from them pretending to be a couple. (Which is almost all the time for a pairing who's last show was together or that has an upcoming show together or anything vaguely like that)

So as long as there's even the smallest chance that actors are aware of the camera filming or taking pictures of them, then I view their interactions through the lens of fan-service.

This is not to invalidate the love that's between some of these pairings or say that any fan, who does think a pairing is dating, is lying, but since fan-service is a big part of BL, we're always going to have pairings acting it up and I think leaning into the idea that pairings are dating is a slippery slope.

When we decide we think a pairing is dating, we suddenly have a lot more stake in the pairing and it opens up for so many possibilities for people's feelings to get hurt and hurt people are more likely to lash out.

We've already seen it a good handful of times when it comes out that an actor in a pairing is dating someone else or that the actors in the pairing really aren't very close. When that happens fans feel deceived and hurt, get mad and lash out. "Fans" get nasty and start treating the actors and/or their real life partners horribly, because "how could they deceive us like this?"

This could really be applied to anything we believe to be true about an actor. Sexuality, personality, friendships etc. as long as it's something personal to the actor.

And if you're reading this and are thinking "I wouldn't do that!", then I'm sure you're right, I'd like to think this about myself as well, but some fans would and have done exactly that. And it's just hard to know exactly how you'll react until it does happen. Maybe we won't lash out at the actor but we might still turn our back on the actor and help fuel the fire of hurt and anger in the fandom, even if the actor really never did anything wrong, we just assumed.

Bottom line: I'll happily engage in fan-service but as long as a pairing's working together in some way then I'll never be 100% convinced the pairing's actually dating and I think keeping the actors and their personal lives at an arms length is good for both the fans and the actor in the long run.

Anyways, now lets talk about a specific BL pairing because I guess that's what the prompt was actually about...

I know I already said that I view BL pairings through the lens of fan-service whenever they're in front of a camera but what the fuck are these two doing?! It's like they're doing fan-service on speed!

Making one after the other of really intimate vlogs where they put up a camera and show the fans exactly how close they are. Like some of the things they're sharing in the vlogs are honestly too intimate to share with strangers on the internet if you ask me. Like:

Straight up cuddling in bed in probably just their underwear(?) before getting out of bed in the morning 🤯

Being domestic AF in their hotel room just in robes and underwear (?) 🤯

Whatever it is Billy finds funny about Babe saying that he "Slept so well" 🤯

And finally them being the antitheses to 'two bros chilling in a hot tub, 5 feet away because they're not gay' here 🤯

Apparently their company has come out and said that they don't control any of the things that BillyBabe film in their vlogs and Babe has also recently said he isn't single. Like what the fuck, guys?!

I honestly really hope that this doesn't give any other BL pairings ideas because I don't want this to push the boundaries of what's normal for fan-service. Because this isn't something you just do with your bro and if they aren't actually dating and are instead just playing the part of dating, I think they're taking it too far.

Anyways, I'm mostly just curious to see how this evolve and what happens when they aren't working together anymore.

Maybe they're dating, maybe they're fuck buddies, maybe they're just the best of friends, or maybe they are none of those. Either way, it's none of my business! I just hope they're happy.

The rightfun way to use Aiden for shipping

It would be, shipping him with Petra. No matter how much I ship her with Lukas, the funniest case scenario would be this. Cause I am telling you, that is the most hilarious fucking shit ever for me(actually... even more so because I ship Petra with Lukas. Since- y'know just read it if you're curious)

Think, Aiden was in the same team as Lukas. Then Aiden ditched Lukas. All because he hung out with Jesse's group a bit? (Or because Lukas got some of the credit and got into the new order.) He bullied(or being mean to them at the very least) Jesse, Olivia and Axel for who knows how long. Could have/tried to kill Lukas when pushing him off of sky city(since at the time everyone thought there was no ground under). Does the same to jesse. When Jesse comes back up, Aiden tries to kill Jesse AGAIN. This time with blazes and his sword. Sky city is doomed because of him(the people might be okay but come on. He almost ended the entire society of people). But he was chilling thinking things were great. He only decided to fix his actions or acknowledge what he's doing is wrong when he thinks he's going to lose/die, so he begs. He's on his knees saying "I'm sorry. I won't do it again" like a pathetic baby(I swear I'm not hating on him right now. I'm just exaggerating things a little bit just for my own enjoyment-). Then depending on the player(Jesse's) choice, he says he'll try to be better or is still as bitter as ever.

And now imagine. Him. With Petra. The same Petra, who called him out for ditching Lukas. Never really interacted with him other than that actually. But she cares for her friends dearly. And she ends up with the same guy that bullied them? And almost doomed an entire city? Dating him just because he's a better guy now?? "Redemption arc fixed everything for you? Well sure. Let's make out!" kind of look? And here, to add a little more chaotic flavor, just say that Lukas actually likes Petra too. If I try explaining this in his perspective:

"My best friend is dating my ex-friend who ditched me and bullied our other friends. He also tried to kill me and Jesse(+the founder). And almost ended a whole civilization. And there is also a chance he stays bitter and not accept his mistakes." Like damn. And he still didn't get a chance with her- (that's not the point here but- eh. It's funny) and for Jesse it's similar because, "my best friend is dating my bully who is also a criminal". Anyways. Some serious world building would be needed. Like... Petra needs at least 5 years of getting to know him or something for this to work out wonderfully and for me to not crack up. Especially since Petra doesn't actually know Aiden besides the image she has in her head which is

Bullying her friends

Ditching Lukas for not such a reasonable reason for her

Wanting to kill Jesse and Lukas

Resulting to him being.... a jerk. Or worse. (I have noticed they don't interact like... at all except for that one time in episode 5)

Now I'm not against this ship. It's just a very hilarious concept to me. And I don't mean it in a mean way. I love the way it makes me laugh with genuine joy- I just think it's so funny

I have many thoughts and ideas about Zarc/Ray Swap AU but I think the one that sticks out the most for me is the funny idea Zarc still has to summons his Supreme King Form to battle Ray, but because she likely wouldn't or ever get the EN cards she is stuck going against his ridiculously overpowered Ace that doesn't let you do practically anything except this time Zarc is in the right for pulling this shit and Ray deserves to go through it.

This is the most angst we got untill now and they both ended on a good note, Kazuki finally moved on from his past and came home and saw his new family sleeping holding hands this was so sweet! Still in the end Rei is back home with his family where his daughter sang him a birthday song and his partner made him birthday cake and all kinds of food Rei likes i meaann

From what i can tell this show sticks to idk Disney movie principles? Yes there will be some angst but in the end they get their happy ending. That's what VAs were talking about!

You have to think about what director really wanted convey through this series and how the ending suppose to reflect that thought! Bad ending wouldn't make sense!! At all! This may be a controversial opinion, but honestly - I am a ride or die lestappen fan, I love nothing more than the fantasy of seeing them end up together.. but if I think with my logical, realistic brain, I honestly think if any drivers were actually dating, lestappen is more fantastical than other ships.

Like if Charles were to one day actually reveal that he's in a relationship with another driver? I think it would probably be Pierre.

And if it was Max, it would be Daniel.

I love lestappen more than those two ships, but I acknowledge that Piarles and Maxiel have more real life chemistry lol

It IS controversial anon and you're brave for saying it in this economy! That being said, I fully disagree with you.

Max and Daniel are extremely close and comfortable with each other, obviously enjoy each other's company and like joking around. Pierre and Charles have known each other for ages, are very close friends who care greatly for each other. Both of these dynamics are great, with great chemistry–but I look at them and see only platonic. Not to negate the importance of them in the slightest! The vibes are just not there.

Lestappen on the other hand, feels different because there's something resembling romantic chemistry, which can feel more stilted than platonic chemistry at times because of the inherent tension. I also just personally prefer Lestappen over Maxiel or Piarles because I think the Max and Charles combo has the greatest potential for a partnership. There's a different compatibility required for romantic partners than there is for friends, and I think the Lestappen dynamic captures the essence of it. If Charles were to win a WDC, him and Max would basically be two of the only people to fully understand each other and their lived life experiences, there's a bone-deep intimacy in that. I very much advocate for a romantic partner being an equal, and Max and Charles match each other well in that way. Inevitable and predestined, etc. It's also quite obvious from interviews that the two of them love racing in a way the rest of us mere mortals don't entirely get, Max logging ridiculous hours on the sim, Charles staying up til midnight before a race working on strategy. I think the two of them would compliment each other well as romantic partners and there is a deep respect between them (moreso than Max with Dan and Charles with Pierre). So yes, I disagree and think if we were in an ideal utopia where everyone dates everyone and no one gives a fuck, Lestappen would be the most likely.

you guys know how in the bible (best book ever by the way) it says that when man and woman get married they become one flesh. Well, let me just say this, mike and el are totally one flesh. And before you guys attack me with dirty implications, what I mean is, they are so emotionally connected to each other that it's almost like they are actually one you know? I think it was the great Finn wolfhard who said "mike is part eleven, eleven is part of mike, they are one". I completely and utterly agree with that statement because it's true. Just like husband and wife are one flesh and are one person (as confirmed in the bible) , I do believe mike and el are one person. They can't live without the other. They are a package deal, two for the price of 1. I also like to think that the good lord blessed these kids with like a soulmates bond and that's why mike can sense el, because realistically (for st standards) can mike sense her? Why is his spidey tingle going off with el? I'm just gonna call it, when the lord made mike and el he was like you know what, I'm gonna give these kids a super rare and special soulmate bond so that they'll always find each other.
