I work as a medical biller for a fairly rural hospital. Today we got a phone call threat of some kind (no one would tell me what kind of threat).

We had to put this sign on our office door:

I don’t think I can even remember seeing one singular post about antisemitism since 10/7 (and I’ve seen a lot) that wasn’t met with outright doubt (“has this actually happened to anyone?”), suspicion (“weird that OP hasn’t said anything about X in this post that isn’t about X, must secretly mean something about what they think that they’re not telling us, and it must be bad” or attempts at moral slander to delegitimize whatever incident the person was talking about (…as if OP being a shitbag in whatever way suits your fancy would make the antisemitism okay? …Do you scream racial slurs at transphobes and the like too? Do you think bigotry stops being bigotry or becomes okay if a person “deserves” it? Do you think bigotry can be earned?)

And if the thing being talked about is something like… a worldwide problem tons of Jews all over have been dealing with and talking to each other about, there’s always someone who asks the OP for the burden of proof, when it’s either an easily google-able thing, (from synagogue shootings, to magen davids being banned at pride events and general feelings of being unwelcome from queer Jews, to the hate-crime rape of a 12 year old, to harassment of Jews from college protestors) or in the most annoying cases, said proof/example is sometimes even just sitting in the comments of the same damn post for any old idiot to see with their eyes.

…Do other minority groups normally get this level of straight up disbelief over our experiences from the very people who claim to stand against the kinds of things we’ve experienced and are experiencing, or do people just make a special exception for us?

If you’re a trans pick-me (no matter where you align with gender) there’s a special place in Hell just for you & I don’t even believe in Hell. Having trauma isn’t excusing your actions of going out of your way to hurt other people actively. you know I was feeling like shit earlier today and I still feel kind of shit (not as much) but I also saw so many fireflies that it looked like the night sky was in the trees. The world isn’t filled with evil. There’s still some good out there. Just last year I saw maybe 10 fireflies the entire summer. This year they’re lighting up my backyard. There’s small things we can do to change the world, even if it won’t happen all at once. If you’re feeling as hopeless and helpless as I was, go outside and look at the fireflies. Smile that they’re living because people fought for them to live, and it worked. Smile knowing there will always be people fighting, that there’s kindness and gentleness out there that will combat any greed and hate generated. We may not finish the work, but we can do our part, and we can leave a mark. Every tiny thread makes the tapestry, there’s no thread more important than the other. I know I sound cheesy but honestly if you can’t handle it you need to learn to lighten up, humble yourself and accept the meaning.

Some of you need to realize that yeah, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, but that doesn’t mean be completely thoughtless, y’know? I don’t use places like Walmart unless I absolutely have to. As in: no other options. I use Amazon too much but as the years go by, I’ve realized it is getting harder and harder to avoid them entirely. But in reality, that would not be the reaction to canon content being bad. Spite can only support you for so long - and more importantly, people are already doing just that; creating. If PvE comes out and is horrendously bad, people will be disappointed, they’ll be angry, they’ll post about how they feared this but had dared to hope, I’ll make a very big and funny and time consuming post writing a fake job application to the blizzard writers or some dumb shit like that. And then some of us will leave and some will stick around and make the same shit posts and drawings and what have you not

It’s all already there, you don’t have to punish yourself waiting around for something you don’t want

So sorry for being overly sincere, but if you want fandom to thrive, you shouldn’t sit around and wait for canon to write itself off for good, you should go out and look for the amazing stuff people are already putting out. Hell, you should make your own! Community and enthusiasm and love will always make better stuff than bitterness
