hi! first of all, i gotta say i love your art, you are incredibly skilled at drawing dynamic dragons and they are so pleasing to look at :D
i was reading your winged sans series, i dunno if this has been asked before but do you have any plans on continuing the series?/nf i love your writing and find it hard to find many sans au fics that characterise the sanses as well as you do lol
thanks for reading this!
Thank you, first off!! That means so much you have no idea ;w;
The answer is yes! Sort of…
I WANT to continue Winged. I have some plotlines I want to explore still, some loose ends that need tying. I never got into Dream’s side of things, or really dug into Ink and Nightmares relationship, and more importantly, the whole ass thing with Classic’s world and Nightmare’s interest in it. I have plans! I want those plans to be fleshed out and shared!
I just don’t have the motivation for it right now?? It’s really hard for me to write in general, for the fandom I’m head over heels for at the moment, so trying to even think about writing for a fandom I’m still fond of, but not as involved in anymore? It’s a lot. I gotta lot going on as is and I’m trying to juggle it as best I can.
Honestly, specifically with Winged, I’m kinda at the point that you could just ask me what I planned to do with a plot line and I’d probably just tell you lmfaoooo. I want people to know! I just don’t know when/if I’ll get around to writing it out officially. ;-;
I’m sorry, that’s probably not what you want to hear! I appreciate that you like the story so much, seriously, I really hope I’m able to swing back around to it one day! (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧

🐌  Hello! I am 20 and would consider myself literate (about 200-400 words average, but I’m pretty flexible and I’m happy to go above that). And I’m looking for other 18+ literate people interested in writing something related to The 100 (incredibly dead fandom, I know lol). I am pretty slow with replies, just as a general thing, and I don’t mind waiting.
I’m down to do either ccxcc, ocxoc or ocxcc doubles (might be open to ocxcc singles, depending on the canon you want me to write) (I would kill to write my oc against an Indra, just as a general thing).
I’m mainly interested in writing Murphy, but I’m also more than happy to write Echo, Emori, Indra, Luna, Monty, or Raven. I’m also down to write Bellamy, Kane, Octavia, Lexa, Clarke, Jasper, Anya or Miller. And I’m down to write others for doubles. Fair warning that I don’t have a ton of experience writing any of them, so it might take me a moment to get  the characterisation right.
I’m very flexible when it comes to ships and I’m open to most things. From very popular ones to rarepairs. I’m open to fxf, fxm, mxm and anything poly, though I’m a bit hesitant to write f in mxf pairings. I’m also happy to do platonic stuff, and I’m always weak for anything multimuse.
I don’t have anything specific in mind for plots (at most I have some very basic concepts that I’d love to play around with). I’m happy to do something within canon-verse, either divergent or complaint. I’m also down to do some sort of AU. In general, I’m weak for hurt/comfort, complicated relationships, complicated and morally gray characters, recovery and found family. I’m open to a fair amount of darker topics and I’m open to NSFW as long as it makes sense for the plot and the characters.
Like this and I’ll reach out! I usually write on discord, but I’m open to google docs or emails.

Your tags on that “we know nothing about the marauders so we can make it all up post”… YES wow especially the part about tagging OOC content??? What a world that would be… as it stands now there is absolutely no way to filter between canon and non-canon/canon versions of the characters.
And the overtagging! Why is Jegulus tagged on Sirius fanart? Why are all the marauders-era characters tagged on a portrait of Lupin? Why is wolfstar tagged on literally everything?? It’s straight up impossible to find specific character related content via the tags, or any content at all if you’re trying to filter out one or more of the above. How do you manage to find the content you’re looking for?
exactly!! and it’s really a bit of a doubled edged thing for me, bc i am NOT someone who enjoys canon characterisations usually (my current tirades notwithstanding and that’s really mainly bc i hate the fanon versions even more) and honestly, i’d like shit to be tagged bc i want to look for it lmao
it’s like—imagine if all fics, regardless of how they were plotted, were just ‘golden era’ or ‘marauders era’ with NO concept of canon compliant or divergence or AU or anything. u can argue ‘meh what does it matter’ but then really, that’s a question for the entire institution of tagging then, isn’t it?
as it stands, as our ~fandom social contract~ dictates, tagging is a way for us to find what we want and avoid what we don’t. having a baseline helps operationalise that. u can say ‘okay, yeah, this is a thing and i’m CHANGING it’. it’s a scientific experiment 😌 but to straight up say?? nothing is real?? like bro take ur nihilism elsewhere pls thx
and gosh. don’t even get me start on the overtagging. literally every time one of my posts gets rb’d with wolfstar, it makes me wanna scream. i can’t see my own posts. and that’s not to mention all the others that get mistagged and i keep playing roulette w them. i honestly mostly blame tumblr’s system for this bc,,,why u including everyone’s additional tags bruh. obv someone will tag what they see. that’s what we all do. why do i have to suffer for it 😭
i also think it’s bc of like,,,those auto generated text thingys? and reader insert accs who want reach? that are fully clogging the tags. atp i just go by recs and a few trusted mutuals pages lol that’s what i’d recommend to anyone similarly frustrated 💀

Hey there! So I want to start writing some fics for bart and I want to make sure they are as accurate as possible and he's kinda the main point of your blog so I was wondering if you could give me like a rundown of his character, how he behaves, what his trauma is like stuff like that. If it's to long to post let me know and I'll message you privately
hey :) that’s exciting, looking forward to reading them 🤩 honestly i could give u a run down but i do think a lot of things i feel strongly about r largely personal interpretations of his character from what we’ve seen + extra trivia, especially on things like trauma. Ill edit later to link u to some think pieces/previous asks where i fleshed out some specifics about his characterisation/background cause honestly to fully answer this question id probably end up writing the equivalent of a fic 😭 lol but the thing is, even if i don’t entirely agree with others views on the matters, other approaches/perspectives on him can lead to really interesting plot/character exploration/stories that id still love to read about! so whilst i might have a general outline on his characterisation, i think it’s also important to go along with what u personally interpret/feel. Also it depends whether ur specifically asking about his yj tv or comics iteration? Though honestly, the core aspects of my answers to both would be pretty similar. But i’ll answer in terms of YJ as that’s very much the point of my blog like u mentioned lol
i think what might also be worth mentioning are traps that some writers (including myself) can fall into that r worth avoiding and why:
- adhd/speed is his full personality
like yes he can be excitable/hyper with his head in the clouds and yes he can be cute about it, but that’s not his only personality trait, he can be serious about things, cocky/bit of an asshole, but also sweet and sincere/speak his mind, but also dubious. He’s multifaceted/complex that way (layered just like anyone can be tbh). It all depends on the situation and seeing how he acts in the series it a good call to see how it can be mirrored/further portrayed in other situations.
- he’s a character that needs babysitting
again yes, it’s common that a lot of his friendships/relationships have a tolerance type of aspect to it, but people he’s at the very least good friends with genuinely like him and have a dynamic that’s on equal footing, some authors can accidentally infantilise him too much which is just not the way to go with him.
- he’s so traumatised that he needs therapy asap
this isn’t to say life is a breeze for him or that he doesn’t/can’t have deep issues. I mean he literally comes from a post-apocalyptic society, that’s pretty troubling. It has lead to traits like how he’s notably desensitised to things like death, has sticky fingers (tendency to steal), doesn’t really have any problem with lying nor confrontation. But from what we have seen he seems to be incredibly adaptable to situations as well as very happy/comfortable in his current time. And i really don’t think the answer to why he can live a comfortable life in the present is because he’s had therapy. I don’t think he’s visibly stuck on any particular trauma (not that he doesn’t have any, they just don’t weigh him down as much as it could) and that as a result of his background, he has a much higher than average threshold for what it takes to get him to break down. I think just because he’s not caught up on what could be personal traumas, doesn’t mean it doesn’t come without it’s issues. Being desensitised to that extent can come with its own problems and i think he has a different set of values than the average person on the team. I think an interesting approach to this is that his “issues” would come about in unexpected/uncomfortable ways/circumstances that can affect his normal relationships like with his family (jay/barry particularly).
- he has complexes about his intelligence/capability/being a hero
personally, i really don’t think this is/should be a trait of his. He IS intelligent/capable and a hero point blank period. Just because he might have an unconventional way of doing/seeing things, doesn’t mean it brings these things into question, atleast, in terms of how HE views himself. Doesn’t mean others won’t have their issues with it for whatever reason, but generally he’s a pretty confident guy to the point of being cocky. Not in the sense that he’s a total dick about it, but because he knows he’s that good and is proud of it. Now this is an interesting trait because i think it actually plays quite nicely with his airheaded/strange moments. I don’t think he fakes them necessarily, maybe plays it up but only because he’s having fun and LIKES having fun too, as well as because he doesn’t want to advertise certain things because of whatever agenda he may have.
a lot of this is a mix of what i consider instrinsic to his characterisation but also personal interpretations. Just because i think he can be cocky, doesn’t mean i don’t think he doesn’t have any insecurities. If anything reading a fic about it would be so interesting (and there have been many that have dealt with it amazingly). All these traits/views don’t exist in binary and can be nicely complimented with other takes/interpretations of them. As long as ur passionate about the story and his character, i think ultimately u can write a really cool story which id be so excited to read. Even if he’s just going clothes shopping and nothing would arise to all that i’ve mentioned, it would still be fun to read. It’s ultimately all just fun :)
Everything i described, can sound a bit confusing, so i’m sorry about that lol. I hope the asks I will link will help too! I think checking out his TV tropes section (Kid Flash II) is also useful, it gives a pretty good rundown on a fair amount of his traits.
here’s also a part of another section that i really like too lol
Tumblr media
in terms of general facts, these might also help:
- he’s gay.
- he does go to school (he was enrolled pretty soon after his arrival to the present) .
- he has brown hair (i’m sorry but whenever i read he has red hair i literally frown LOL).
- he is the son of meloni thawne (this one is more his general comic lore but everyone pretty much takes it as canon so, since we are on this topic he has a half brother owen mercer (son of captain boomerang) and his cousin is Jenni (daughter of Dawn)).
- he doesn’t know every single thing that happens to every hero/person in the future, especially since the timeline has completely changed from his original one. What he does know, is subject to debate and it’s always interesting to see what direction different authors take it. What i believe has direct confirmation from greg as well as was suggested in the series is that he for example didn’t know artemis was undercover and that kaldur was a double agent. This could suggest literally anything (they died during that time/they die much later down the line/ they survived but alliances became vague under the mutual threat of a world apocalypse etc)
- he doesn’t want to return to his “original time” it kind of goes without saying but it’s been made pretty clear in the series. He feels relatively at home in the present. Doesn’t necessarily mean he doesn’t miss some things/people from his past though.
- whilst he is pretty lax about having a secret identity, he still has one. Jay doesn’t have one and is a public hero. Do with that what u will lol
- this one is only “suggested” based on the fact that no one saw him off when he left to the present. It’s suggested that his parents are dead.
for now i can’t think of anything else, if i do i’ll edit it in. Hope this was somewhat helpful :)

Ohhhh my god thank u for saying what ive been thinking for so long about ronance and also how steve would feel about it every word so true....
1. Even if she did have any feelings for nancy WHAT kind of best friend would get with the first person their bestie had ever fallen in love with who fucked up their heart to the extent that it was still impacting them years later
2. WHY would robin see nancy as a potential good romantic partner after hearing about what she acted like from steve...like i love nancy but she needs to spend some time single and also in therapy before shes ready to be with someone actually i think
3. Also just people trying to point to evidence of vibes between them in the show canon itself I always see all their interactions as robin being intimidated by nancy and nancy actually being kinda rude to robin until she does/says something helpful???
4. On the side of steve's reaction imo he would be completely justified in freaking out - both due to him feeling betrayed by robin and also probably worries about her getting her heart broken?? Especially because in a lot of the get together fics i've scrolled past it seems like a lot of the plots involve robin actively lying to and hiding her feelings and subsequent actions from steve? Also just the general characterisation of steve in these kind of fics as a dumb little puppy that robin and nancy laugh at together
Sorry for long ask this has been building up for quite some time in my brain and seeing your opinion just brought it all bubbling out lol.....could probably get death threats if i talked about this to the wrong fan like at a certain point ppl just need to chill (i say at the end of this massive ask ahaha)
thank you, i will always be willing to shit talk ships i don’t like lmao
anyway. i’ll go through point by point!
1- totally agree, like come one. bro code. no dating your best friends ex, especially when it ended with your best friend getting his heart broken. you’d just have to be the worst friend and least empathetic person in existence.
2- yeah, considering we see robin and steve talk a lot about their love lives, we can assume she knows most of what went down between them, so i honestly can’t imagine robin being able to see nancy in that way. and i totally agree! nancy needs to be single for a while before diving into yet another relationship. honestly my dream ending for nancy is her being single and working through her trauma.
3- i also can’t really see it in the show. like most of their scenes nancy just looks kinda pissed of at robin, and robin is trying desperately to figure out where she went wrong. it just doesn’t seem like a good dynamic.
4- and yeah, i think steve would react badly for two reasons. the first is him feeling betrayed by robin, that robin would date nancy when she was his first love and his heart was so badly broken, we’re still seeing it effect him. and the second is that he would be worried for robin. he knows robin is anxious about how she rambles and acts, and he knows nancy, and i think he would know that nancy wouldn’t have much patience for it. and i do think that he would be worried about robin getting her best broken too. and i hate any fics where the basis is people make fun of steve together, and steve’s best friend and his ex that broke his heart teaming up to call him an idiot would honestly drive me into a frothing at the mouth rage, which is why i don’t read those fics! lol
never apologise for a long ask! they’re always fun to answer, and yeah, there are definitely ships that people want everyone to like. i remember i made this post that was vaguely critical of jancy, and someone sent me this long ask in all caps locks about why i was wrong, it was pretty funny tbh

after the last reblog i saw mxtx slander on my own dashboard and i am not here for it. like think what you will i guess but i think her brain is huge & sexy. she’s out here creating gorgeous narratives with intricate plots, multifaceted side characters and antagonists, and main ships that brim with acceptance and affection. she put not only danmei but xianxia & wuxia on the map for a staggering amount of people. at least show some respect.

davekat isn't a bad couple, actually
okay, i am bored and sleep deprived and i just went through @davekat-sucks's blog. this is a recipe for disaster. sigh. hope you don't mind me doing this ms. davekat sucks, its just that some of your takes were so frigid i just couldn't bring myself to ignore them. various thoughts under the cut
first off, id like to say that this not an attempt to blame you for making this blog, or for disliking davekat. you can ship whatever the fuck you want and express your opinion however you like. i actually really appreciate the courage. fuck yeah, go against the status quo. post about a controversial topic. fandom would be boring without people like you. but the thing is, your takes are so cold bestie. they are straight up frigid. i am so sorry but the sight of them got me freezing and shaking uncontrollably
why do you base so much of your criticism around hs2 and the epilogues whilst simultaneously claiming they're badly written and shouldn’t be canon? YES their characterisations were fucked in post-canon. that's the case for most characters!! it's kind of hypocritical to use post-canon as a basis to bash davekat and then turn around and completely disregard that when it comes to pairings like roxygen or rosemary. guess what! they were fucked over by post-canon too! and yet you're not going around claiming that johnroxy sucks, even though john basically abandoned roxy and cheated on her. you're not going around claiming rosemary is a horrible pairing because of the yiffy fiasco in homestuck 2. and you still like those ships. so do i!!
hs2 turned davekat into some kind of fanservice generator and robbed dave and karkat of most of their personalities, i agree. but that's because hs2 fucking sucks. they did that for most of the character anyway. why does it only matter to you when it's davekat? much to think about.
so yeah. im not going to address the criticism pertaining to the epilogues and beyond. im not defending them
another thing you keep bringing up is dave hating quadrants which, jesus fucking christ. it makes me doubt you have any reading comprehension skills. the label felt alien to him, yes. he initially rejected the concept because it seemed weird and off-putting, probably, and that's normal. most of the kids thought troll culture was weird at first. and! he didn't break up with terezi because he hated quadrants! he just doesn't like the polygamous aspect of it.
but let's suppose for the sake of argument that he actually, canonically, hates quadrants. what would that even mean? would that imply he would never get into a relationship with a troll, seeing as those would technically be quadrants? or that he doesn't feel any kind of quadrant-related romantic attraction? both of these were proven wrong by canon because: 1) he willingly got into a matespritship with terezi 2) humans can feel pale, pitch, and red attraction; they just label it differently. karkat elaborates on that in a conversation with john, probably around act6 act5. and davekat doesnt even fall squarely under any quadrant, so this is all pointless lol
one other point you brought up was that as soon as they got close to one another on the meteor, they stopped being active in the plot and disregarded all of the issues their friends were dealing with, proving that their relationship was lazy writing which caused their development to stagnate. this is a good point! but when you look into it, that's not really what happened.
the beta kids and the surviving trolls all began blending into the background during act 6 as the story began focusing on the alpha kids. most of them were sitting around, not particularly doing anything relevant, because there was nothing relevant to be done except for waiting. like kanaya, or davesprite, for example.
you mention that it was ooc for dave and karkat not to help terezi while she was getting abused. the thing is, terezi tried to keep her relationship with gamzee under wraps. she didn't really succeed at that, but people still didn't know exactly what was going on with them at first. karkat wasn't even told about it. he didn't even know she was dating gamzee up until very late into the trip. dave had just broken up with her and didn't know much about troll quadrants by that point, so he probably just thought it was all kismesis shit and didn't want to intrude. again, if he had known what was really going on, he probably would have intervened, but he only had a vague idea about it since terezi wasn't open about her relationship with gamzee. that is, up until the very end of the trip, and by that point dave and karkat WERE trying to encourage her.
you mention that they also didn't help rose with her addiction, but dave was trying! he spent a whole scene trying to get her to drink less! (the one right before the rosemary kiss)
but the thing is. most of the meteor shenanigans happened off screen, so we're not certain of anything. but again, for the sake of argument, let's assume they actually weren't even trying to help their friends. why would that matter? why would the fact that they weren't rushing to fix all of their friends emotional issues have any impact on their feelings for each other? they're traumatised teenagers, they make mistakes! theyre flawed characters!
kanaya didnt try to help terezi with the gamzee situation either. she didnt try to contact the ship either. instead, she spent most of her time with rose. does that make rosemary a horrible pairing? is it ooc for rose and kanaya? from what i've seen, this doesnt seem to be your opinion on the subject.
yeah that’s basically it. you don’t need to respond, but a response would be welcome. thank you for reading!

Asdfghjjkklllllllhhkkl the way I don't remember the last time I didn't do that while watching a movie 😭😂😭😂😭😂
DUDE MALEC RUINED US FOR GOOD I'M AFRAID THERE'S NO COMING BACK
AND WE'RE HAPPY ABOUT IT AHHHHHHH
also, how do you project malec into them, like, you remember the ask you sent Dani about what she thinks malec would do? What do YOU think?
Do you agree with her? 🥺🥺
(I haven't seen FD partly because I don't really watch anime, I can never really understand what's happening there so I don't watch them 💀💀 but I've read your views on it and now I don't know if I want to beg you to write an FD malec au (with a happy ending of course 🤨😂) or run away from it as fast as possible 😭😭😂😂🤦🏻‍♀️)
Kskskskks I didn’t think anyone would pay attention to my FD rants I’m 🙈🙈🙈
And smsmsjsjka yes everytime I watch a movie or a show or something I’m just like “okay this one’s Alec and this one’s Magnus”. Every single damn time. I have no regrets 😎
Okay soooo I actually first watched like the first ten episodes of Future Diary several years ago (I think in like 2018?) so when I wrote smniyb, their dynamic and characterisation was heavily influenced by that of the two main characters. So obviously Alec is Yuno Gasai (cause Dark Alec supremacy)
Tumblr media
And Magnus is Yukiteru (Yuki) Amano
Tumblr media
(He looks more like Alec. I know. I KNOW.)((It doesn’t really show in this gif, but yes, his eyes are blue))
Back then I stopped at the tenth episode cause I couldn’t really understand what was going on 💀 but now when I watched it it was much more clearer and i could understand everything better and didn’t get bored lol. And then I got to the end and these bitches KILLED MEEEE.
Okay, Dark Alec and FD!Malec aside, yeeeeaaaaahhhhh I mostly agree with her. By the end they’d both be arguing about who’s gonna die and at the end one will pull some shit and kill themselves (mostly Magnus) and the other is alive and becomes God (mostly Alec). In FD, Yuki suggests that they both commit suicide and let the world end, but I can’t see either Magnus or Alec suggesting that. They’d both want the other to live on. Yuno however is… complicated but basically by the end she wants Yuki to live on and become God and let her die and that’s pretty much what happens. :’)
So yeah. I basically agree with Dani. Except I don’t think Alec will think kill himself (not that he’ll have the choice anyway, since he’ll probably already have become God before he can even think of it), but that he will end up like Yuki does at the end of Future Diary - letting the world die anyway and just… being depressed in limbo:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(HE LOOKS EVEN MORE LIKE ALEC IN THIS ENDING SCENE ITS FUCKING BREAKING MY HEART SKSKSKSK)
These are all the screenshots of the scene tumblr will let me post but hopefully you get the idea :’)
Unlesssss he goes full Yuno Gasai 👀 which is exactly what would happen in a hypothetical future diary malec au. Which… I’m low-key considering writing but I also want to run away from it 😂😂😂 also FD does have a happy ending! Kinda. The last scene of the last episode is what I just posted above lol, but there’s a post credits scene that hints at a happy ending, AND there’s an extra episode called Future Diary: Redial which shows the happy ending and how it happens.
Ksksksk this post got longer than I expected and that’s without infodumping about some major plot twists and just… Yuno Gasai in general. (I love that girl. I seriously fucking love her.) 😭😭😭 Kay imma go now also THANKS FOR LISTENING TO ALL MY RAMBLINGS ILY 🥺🥺🥺🥺

Still haven't been able to play Auld Lang Syne due to work, but it sounds like I have to prep myself to deal with a very emotional last part for Bustafellows. Technically, Full Circle landed on a cliffhanger, so I guess that makes sense. In the meantime tho, I'm replaying routes again because I'm a sucker and I like everyone's routes so much. Playing blind, I got Crow first, but I've replayed Shu's route the most tbh. Shu's route is so good as a story. Not to mention, since his route, I went to look up the song he quotes, Yellow Rose of Texas, and it's so interesting. I also didn't realize Calamity Jane is also an irl move too - I don't think the plot is quite the same, based on the synopsis tho. Since there's going to be a season 2, I hope Teuta (in Shu's route) will pick up some of Shu's idiosyncrasies- like using the phrase 'The Yellow Rose of Texas' when she has to force herself to do things, or also giving Shu a "anything you want coupon" too, just for funsies. That being said, what would you like to see them touch on in Season 2? Any particular sort of conflicts or stories you want to see? - Anonymous
I wasn’t very fond of Full Circle - they could have executed it way better. I think Minetaka’s (the writer) strong suit is characterisation and character development and not so much the actual mystery, haha. But Auld Lang Syne was a bit better in my opinion! But still not the best.
omg I’ve replayed Shu’s route the most too LOL I think I finished the game in 40 hours but added on another 40 hours just from me opening the game to replay Shu’s route. The majority of my save files are just various points of his route too. His overall development from Chapter 1 to the end of Side B is probably one of my favorite in all otome I’ve played. The way you can really see/feel the relationship beats from Ch1′s hostility to being neutral about her in Ch2, to him accepting her more at the end of Ch2 when she accepts him for who he is. And then depending on what route you go on, either something like familial care towards her or romantic love??? It’s just so good. I could write a whole essay about how he changes over the course of the game.
**Bustafellows Shu route spoilers for anyone who cares**
I think one of my favourite parts is how he’s all “I don’t expect you to understand me nor do I want to tell you about me” at the start, but then they get close and he opens up to her by telling her about the list - but at this point it’s kind of just his general circumstances, stuff that the other Fixers would probably know about too. The next step is him telling her about himself again but they’re only fond and happy memories and doesn’t elaborate much. And THEN later, the first time he actually completely spills his troubles to her, is when he gives her the lighter and tells her he wants her to help quit smoking?? This coming from the guy who purposefully triggers traumatic memories by smoking? He’s LITERALLY giving her the keys to that? He wants to be? Emotionally close to her? By letting go of his trauma of not wanting to be close to others?? How dare you... do this to me!!!!
**End**
I’m rambling you gotta hold me back LMAO - I didn’t know Yellow Rose of Texas was a real folk song - it’s actually quite nice and has a good melody. I’m super curious how Minetaka stumbled across it. I can really see how he must be a bit of a American-movie buff, both from references like these and just the overall vibe of the game.
I have a lot of faith in Minetaka to write something interesting and cool for Shu, so I don’t really have anything in particular I want to see. Rather, I have stuff I don’t want to see: I don’t wanna see them get married! Specifically, I would be a little angry if Shuteu is the only pair that get married. I would be less mad if it was a shared end between say, Shuteu and like, Limteu or something (I can actually see it for Limteu, at least). Just because I think it would undermine the themes and messages present in Shu’s season 1 route. I don’t really like the ‘mature LI’ route ending with marriage as if marriage is just the default conclusion for romances.

willa, i am boldly bringing you an acting ask off anon because you are so smart and rad and i’d love to hear your thoughts/insider info.
i’m curious about the table reading process and i’m wondering if you could speak to how actors might approach them? i’m sure it varies from actor to actor on some level, but do they generally bring their all and go full in-character or not so much? i’m not an actor but it feels like it would be difficult to really lean into it without the physicality of a scene/location.
i adore your acting insights so any thoughts you may have are welcomed and beloved 🖤
rhys my beloved! ❤️❤️ you are so wonderful and i appreciate every kind word you say. this made me smile so huge — of course i’d answer anything you want to ask.
so with table reads — it can differ between actor to actor but in general and especially in my personal experience, it’s usually as if there’s a sprinkling of characterisation. you still want to connect with your character, the text and the other actors you’re interacting with, but the table reads are primarily for hearing the text out loud for first time with the whole cast, rather than major character/plot exploration and development — so actors don’t necessarily have to lean into it 100% in order for it to be successful. it’s the first rehearsal you have after the casting process is done, so really it’s about getting a feel for the character (if it’s a new one for you and not an episodic script like shameless) and the text on a whole. actors can use the table read to explore certain things — for example if they’re having to use an accent for the role, it may be their first opportunity to explore the lines w other people whilst trying out the accent. it’s a good chance to discuss plot points and like, character choices with other people too — perhaps clarify things you may not have understood the first time you read the script over on your own. but in the main, it’s about the actual text and hearing the words said out loud and how the story may or may not come across.
that being said, i’ve been been part of many rehearsal processes where there’s been weeks of table reads, each one of them getting deeper and more connected. the basics of the technique i learnt (and approach to acting that i use) uses a table read as first step to connecting w your scene partner and i’ve had some really fascinating and important discoveries during them. they’re a really good opportunity to look your scene partner in the eye and fully connect on such a simple level — without feeling the need to lean into (and get distracted by) physicality and location. it’s a good starting point to get to the real grit and bone deep personalisation because you’re not distracted by the other things — all you gotta do is use the text and work off your scene partner. but bare in mind, that was my particular training and my personal experience w it. i’m less familiar w other techniques particular approaches to table reads.
so what i’m trying to say, i guess, is that it differs! depends on actor to actor but also from production to production! standardly, it’s about introducing yourself to the text and hearing it as a group for the first time w the main crew involved. but in some instances, there is opportunity to explore connections w your scene partners and start making initial discoveries. most of my personal experience draws from theatre as well as a little film. it’s important to remember though that on productions w such a quick turn around — like episodic tv shows — it’s most likely that the table read is one of the few — if not only — moments to rehearse and work on something before the actual shoot — so there definitely isn’t time or grounds for fun or deep character exploration! (i’m pretty sure i’m correct in thinking that glee didn’t even have table reads before shooting episodes... which uh... explains everything).
anyways, i hope this all makes sense and i didn’t just ramble nonsensically for a couple of hundred words. i’m sorry it got super long but i can happily clarify anything for you if i didn’t quite answer it! you’re truly the best rhys and i value you so much. thank you for always taking the time to say the nicest and most supportive things to me — it means a huge huge amount ❤️❤️
(one of my favourite things ever is lady gaga singing during the star is born table read, she really went for it lol)

okay. first thoughts about halo paramount under the cut. i’m also gonna make a second additional post about my thoughts on chief’s characterisation which i’ll link here.
i really Really liked the madrigal colony (while it lasted lol) — seeing the diversity in there was really nice (and by extension the diversity in the UNSC side of things). also having a poc lead?? loving that so far, too. they really didn’t pull their punches with the brutality of the covenant. also shout out to kwan ha for keeping a level head as much as she did like girl, you’re amazing.
i also enjoyed how the spartans moved and worked in combat. the switch from cgi to acting is jarring and the actors are noticeably trying their best to move smoothly in the mjolnir armour but i enjoyed that the spartans actually feel like supersoldiers. not just on the battlefield but off it too; the shots of silver team moving with the UNSC to secure chief — the height difference, the way the marines part to get out of their way, the way they move even. the strength of the spartans when one impaled an elite and lifted them into the air?? this is the good kush give me More!!!
THE SANGHELI DON'T HAVE A FUCKING HOLE UNDER THEIR MANDIBLES NOW!!!!! YESS!!!!!! thank fuckin god for that redesign lmao! it's interesting to see what they've done with their skin texture and also the general anatomy? feels strange because im so used to halo games’ depiction of them, but i honestly think the redesign is for the best. also love the look of the convenant armour and weapons so far. also seeing how terrifyingly strong the sangheli are too like that one elite smacking a jeep over like a potato sack? holy shit, hell yeah bro that’s what i’m here for!!!
i'm intrigued and honestly kinda happy about the human teen (??) mercy has in bottom storage?? like Yeah, finally the prophets figured out that having a human helper is, in fact, gonna be Incredibly useful for messing with forerunner (at least im assuming it's forerunner) tech. the costume design is certainly... i'll say it's Interesting for now. but i am definitely curious to see how things play out with all that.
that said... da masta chef... i like him :) absolutely loving the armour design, it's gorgeous. very funny to see the HUD, love it. REALLY loved seeing the energy shields flare up when anything impacted the armour. as for chief himself, i actually. Liking what pablo's doing for him so far; i've seen a couple of comments and interviews where he talks about how he's portraying chief and honestly? it shows, imo. there Are a few nitpicks i have, namely chief's initial interactions with kwan ha (i personally think he'd have at least said Something to her and wouldn't have been as cold/distant/professional as he was but i get why things planned out that way). that aside, i'm... honestly not upset about the helmet coming off. i'm a little like... not uncomfy but just? hm. about it, but i think it's actually a good thing. imo it was a good plot and character point even if the pacing of when it happened was a little iffy.
something i Really liked about the helmet removal scene is just how controlled pablo's expression was. like YESSSS, That's The Good Kush!!!!! very funny that he's so tan (though i'll reserve judgement on this since we don't know how spartans train and how long they're out of armour for) and has literally zero (0) scars on his face but that's just a tiny nitpick. also a lil sad about the lack of freckles but again, just a cosmetic nitpick. another nitpick i've got is that i feel that pablo's voice was... too emotional? his tone could've been more controlled when speaking to halsey about the Memories and to kwan ha during that tense standoff. but that's just a nitpick, and i think it's appropriate given like, silver timeline worldbuilding wrt what's going on with the spartans.
whew. with all that out of the way... on to my thoughts about silver timeline and epsiode 1 in general!
so. the first thing i've got to say is that i think it's really important that people understand that — like the showrunners said — they didn't look at and aren't following the games. is that a good thing? maybe, maybe not — i can see the pros and cons of it. but i don't think it's fair to compare silver timeline to canon halo timeline because they really are two entirely separate worlds/timelines.
so here's my thoughts on things thus far.
i'll start with the spartan program.
i'm not entirely sure how to feel about silver timeline's spartans yet. i like that halsey's orders supersede the UNSC's (at least it seems that way), Dr Mom Warcrimes strikes again! however, with how silver team has had their memories of their childhood before the spartan program locked... it's definitely a different approach to the spartan program but i'm really hoping the showrunners have a good explanation for it because from my perspective it kind of. undermines like, the purpose of the program? like, Yes the program was completely unethical. Yes, the iis were kidnapped and brainwashed and brutally trained and basically experimented on to become child super soldiers, yes, but they were Told that they were chosen because they were The Best humanity had to offer. they're constantly upheld as the Peak of humanity, The Best™. the change in their origins feels kinda unnecessary; I'd almost compare it to the whole Control Chip plot point in tcw. the memory suppression removes what little agency the spartans have and i don't think this change is for the better.
this also ties into the character changes to halsey, and especially to parangosky. so far, the way halsey's been portrayed feels like a poor adaptation. she lacks the assertiveness and ego/hubris of her canon counterpart which... that's an Incredibly important part of not only the creation of the spartan program but also cortana's creation. halsey's always had a “long leash” to commit war crimes because of her genius. she's indispensable to the UNSC. it doesn't feel like that's the case here. on that note, parangosky being concerned with morals and legality is... Strange considering. ONI. but also considering that parangosky has even less ethical and moral stances than halsey in the books. i get why these changes have been made but i'm not sure if they're the best way to adapt the source material. only future episodes will tell.
as for jacob and miranda keyes, i'm gonna say that i tentatively like what's going on with them and i'm curious to see how things go.
overall, i'm really enjoying what i've seen. my only issue so far is, in essence, the origins and development of silver timeline's spartan program. because A Lot of of my nitpicks and uncertainty about the worldbuilding + adaptation of source material stems from there. by changing the origins of the spartan program, you change A Lot about the characters associated with it and by extension, the world. so far, i can't say i approve of the changes made wrt that but i'm willing to roll with things and i'm curious to see how the show develops from here.

Do you think fandom can be sexist towards female characters?
I see the Jegulus fandom wanting to write Lily completely out of the picture and wolfstar people generally hate Tonks.
oof. i have…a very rambly, very long answer to this bc i don’t think it’s a simple yes/no so i’ll put this under a cut for people to skip if they wanna, yeah?
so, straight off the bat, im not a fan of using pejorative labels for writers in general but particularly for fanfic authors. for one, we don’t know who’s writing behind the screen + what their motivations/inspirations/intentions are. two, everyone writes for a different reason. perhaps someone is venting, or projecting, or using it as a therapeutic release; often it’s lifted straight out of their own life. so i try not to judge the text in front of me based on stuff like that. (this leeway could also be because i used to read a lot of bashing fics where the majority of them are women, i think, and often with the flimsiest, most irrelevant reasons that are straight out of the Sexism Handbook of Traditional Patriarchy too so maybe i just started rationalising it for myself? idk)
second, i think it’s pretty well known that the majority of fandom is some combination of women/queer/neurodivergent/POC etc etc. so applying the lens of ‘critiquing mainstream media produced by cishet men’ doesn’t…really work here, i don’t think. the way we would analyse sexism in say, marvel or disney won’t (shouldn’t?) be the same as how we do it for fandom imo.
that being said, it’s still entirely possible for certain ‘problematic’ tropes/ideas to be prolific, right? this is where the sexism u mentioned comes in. i prefer to use symptomatic language here so saying ‘xyz has sexist/x-phobic elements’ instead of an absolute ‘the work/author is sexist/x-phobic’ because i don’t think the latter is either useful or accurate. when it comes to this, there’s one really important thing i look for here. is the author aware of what they’re writing? (which is a whole other issue tbh, complete w why i feel more comfortable around darkfic authors but let’s not go there rn lol) because a lot of the authors who write out lily or tonks in these ships do so knowingly bc it’s the only way for their plot to exist/evolve. sure, you can have an amicable resolution but will it provide the conflict u need? will it make for good entertainment? will it lead to 3D characters?
stories often need an antagonist and is it unfortunate that women often end up filling the role? sure. absolutely. i’d argue that one of the reasons we have so many mlm ships compared to wlw is because of mainstream media giving us better written men more often than not. and i think it’s totally fine to feel angry/frustrated/upset about that, especially when it carries over into fandom which is supposed to be a fun, inclusive, safe space. i get really frustrated at a lot of wolfstar discourse that entirely ignores the possibility of bisexuality. the vehement insistence that that a certain character can’t be with a woman bc they’re queer, for example, rubs me the wrong way and i think what you’re mentioning is something similar too. but, i always stop myself from assuming malicious intent on the author/fic’s part bc just because they write/believe something in fiction doesn’t make it true, ykno? and i can always step back and go look for something else that’s more to my liking.
and i think every creator would have something like this in their works tbh. i certainly do. i know for a fact that the way i’ve written lily in shovel talk and the patronus fic isn’t exactly favourable to her—even though i’ve tried to be neutral, she has definitely come out looking worse than the others and i admit that that’s on me. i wanted a certain dynamic & characterisation for james & sirius and this was the way to achieve it. people are allowed to dislike that. but they must also acknowledge that i’m allowed to write her that way.
i think, more often than not, we end up looking at this in simplistic binaries. ‘i like this -> good -> allowed to exist’ or ‘i don’t like this -> bad -> shouldn’t exist.’ i’m…not a fan of that. my opinion is we should advocate for more mindfulness within our writing but allowing writers to craft their stories the way they want (bc ultimately fic is supposed to simple and fun and not something you agonise over). and this is all interlinked, right? because the moment we say ‘ok. this might be portraying women in an icky manner, i don’t like it but the author can do that bc it’s a piece of fiction’ then u open the gates for more responsible reading & writing. authors would feel comfortable tagging their works with this, they can discuss it openly w/o being worried about reproach or ‘being cancelled’ and readers can make a more informed decision. but if you go in guns blazing with ‘ugh this fandom is so sexist, look at how it’s treating its women’ then you’ve pretty much killed all possibility for dialogue and improvement and that’s not helping anyone.
this kind of also ties in with my previous point about having differing standards for mainstream vs niche mediums of art. fanfiction authors are often, ironically enough, held to higher standards than published/paid creators which is interesting bc u can argue that their work doesn’t even have the kind of social impact that mainstream media does.
anyway. i’ve gone off on enough tangents here lol but i think i’ll end it with this: yes, women definitely come off worse in certain spaces, especially when they have to compete with mlm ships but i think that’s a conscious decision that authors take within the bounds of the material they have. as long as they are conscious of the fact/acknowledge it, i think likening it to sexism isn’t fair because u can’t have a story without plot devices, uncomfortable as they might be. if you see a pattern in someone’s stories of women being constantly shunted aside negatively, then i think u can take note of it and avoid it. maybe have a conversation with the author if they’re willing to talk about their creative choices. i feel like that’s the most u can do when it comes to online writing where u have no idea who’s on the other side of the screen.

If Faramir went to Rivendell, how would the whole ttt/rohan plot be different?
A good question that I have spent an unreasonable time thinking about! My first LOTR fic was going to be an attempt to answer this, but then I got so wrapped up in not having the answers that I sidelined it and wrote WC instead. So I think instead of giving you one definitive answer I’ll give you a couple scenarios I think are plausible? If that’s not too much of a cop out lmao? Apologies in advance for the inevitable spelling errors, I did this on my phone and my dyslexia is off the charts today.
I think it’s basically unavoidable that he goes via Rohan first, geographically he’s sort of left without an option there. When he’s there, we get into this issue of whether and how he and Éowyn interact. Worth noting, I think, that the Unfinished Tales has Éomer living in Aldburg by the War, but Éomer does seem to imply he’s around for Boromir passing through. Is this because he knows and already is a fan of Boromir? Maybe! Or maybe Éomer goes to Aldburg after.
But I digress. We have to ask the question of whether Faramir falls in love with Éowyn because he was always going to fall in love with Éowyn, or if it’s because the things he’s gone through immediately preceding it primed him for it. I — perhaps quite cheaply — come down on the side of Faramir always having it bad for her on first sight. And contextually I think that comes from his, rather sweet, enunciation of the way his regard/love changes for her. He says that at first he pities her, and then he gets to know her and he doesn’t pity her anymore, he respects and admires her. That’s an interesting dynamic to bring into play in basically every AU, because you get this double barrel characterisation of his attitude to her changing, and his own character maturing/sharp edges softening.
I think he off the bat he sees that she’s beautiful, and immediately is drawn to her for that. Shallow? Maybe! But, to badly paraphrase my ol fav Victor Hugo quote — love always begins with a glance.
I imagine he stays for a short while, maybe a week, two at most. At this point I think that Éowyn’s basically viewing him as an official guest that she has to entertain, and I think Faramir is, in his own, slightly stilted, slightly wanky way, putting the moves on her. This can go, imo, one of two ways. She can either be receptive to it (which is a nice thought!) or she can be aware of it but mostly ignore it because, really, she’s got lots of shit on her plate.
Either way, he leaves Edoras at some point. The big question is where does his go from there?
One thing I toy around with is that, given his pre-existing relationship to Gandalf, maybe he’s willing to trust the Istari a bit more and goes straight for Isengard? Which, and I think I did the math on this once a few months ago, would have him arriving at Isengard around the time Gandalf’s getting his shit kicked in by Saruman lol. I think this could be a really compelling plot point, but I’ll be very honest with you, I 100% don’t have the imagination or writing skills to figure out how it proceeds from there, so I’m not going to try to.
If he goes the normal Boromir route, he still loses his horse at Tharbad and walks (lmao jesus???) to Rivendell. When he gets there, I think he’s immediately going to have everything he knows put to the test in quite jarring ways. First off, he’s going to be infinitely more deferential to Elrond, Aragorn &c when they’re trashing Gondor. He’ll push back a bit, no doubt on that, but he’s going to be starstruck by Aragorn in a way that Boromir just wasn’t.
No real difference I imagine between Rivendell and Lothlórien, except that he’d definitely be laser focused on palling about with Aragorn, and he’d probably spend more of his time being friendly with Frodo than with Merry and Pippin tbh (not in a douchey way, I just think he and Frodo vibe a little better. Though I bet he and Merry had some interesting chats about pipe weed history).
The underlying question here is what sort of relationship does he have to the ring? I don’t buy this idea that he’s not tempted by it, I just think that what the ring offers him is a bit shit. We don’t know what the ring tempts him with, he’s not clear on that in TTT. I can’t really see the ring being like ‘oh I’ll give you a king to follow’ because that is some intensely nerdy shit, but is somehow the one thing I could see Faramir actually being tempted by. Regardless of what it offers him in this AU, he resists it on the basis that he’s got this mythical king he’s been desperate for, and he’s not gonna risk that for anything.
Lothlórien comes next, and oh my god when I tell you this is the part I genuinely have no answer for. I stopped writing my first fic at Lothlórien because I couldn’t cope. Tbh it probably lowkey fries Faramir’s brain, and for so many reasons. The whole godmoding Númenórean stuff he’s got going on probably interests Galadriel a bit, and so that whole conversation is going to be wildly different than it was for Boromir. But what does she say to Faramir? I have no idea. I really don’t. There’s also probably a million and one things also going on psychologically for him at that point, which makes dealing with this bit difficult. Really difficult. So I’m gonna, uh, conveniently smash cut away.
Parth Galen! Again, another two potential splits here. The first, (from here on out I’ll refer to as Plot A) which I find rather endearing, is that he goes off with Frodo and Sam when Frodo makes the decision to split. I don’t know that I believe he’d do it, but it proves for a very delightful interpretation of his character.
Plot B is that when the Orcs show up, Faramir survives not by virtue of his being a ~ better warrior ~ or whatever than Boromir, but by the terrain surrounding Parth Galen being something he’s far more in the habit of dealing with, and by virtue of his having a bow at his disposal. I know there’s room for an interpretation of Faramir as not primarily an archer, but narratively I think that’s less interesting. So he’s an archer. He’s an archer and also his priority is on Aragorn first and foremost, so Merry and Pip still get taken, and Frodo and Sam use the hubbub to GTFO, which is actually slightly more in line with the movie’s chronology, funnily enough. The three hunters become four, and then go on Merry & Pippin’s trails.
In Plot A, they’re hauling ass across the Emyn Muil, bolstered in some ways by Faramir’s experience as a Ranger. The problem is the issue of getting into Mordor and whether or not they pick up Gollum. I think, in a way that frustrates me immensely, they do end up taking Gollum, not because they need a guide, but because Gollum fulfils this deep psychological need for Frodo, and I think he would have argued for keeping Gollum regardless. Faramir is going to be fucked off about this, but will ultimately, I think, be deferential to the ringbearer.
So they go across the Dead Marshes, but they do NOT attempt the Black Gate first because Faramir’s not a fool. Do they go to Henneth Annûn? I say yes, but with the caveat that in all likelihood Boromir is gonna be there, which is gonna complicate stuff tremendously.
Over to Plot B!
The four hunters go to the Mark! They meet Éomer! Hey! Éomer recognises Faramir! (And he’s probably a little fucked off that he lost his horse lol). But whatever, he knows this guy, so he’s probably gonna be like, uhhh, everything you saw before in Edoras is much worse now. Also my cousin's dead and everything is bad. Here’s some horses, sorry for maybe accidentally killing your pals, see ya! And at this point I think Faramir’s probably having a, hmmm, g e n t l e  p s y c h i c  c r i s i s, because if he’s still very 👅 for Éowyn (which he is, sorry, he has to be) then he’s going to want to go there ASAP. Obviously though that’s not gonna happen, so: Merry and Pip chasing, Gandalf finding, Edoras arriving.
Which means Éowyn. If, at this point, she and Faramir already have something of an arrangement going on (nudge nudge) then she’s really not gonna give a shit about Aragorn. You know how in TTT it’s not even clear that she actually sees Legolas and Gimli? 100% that vibe with Aragorn too. Théoden’s gonna get his house in order, they’re going to head to Helm’s Deep, and Éowyn’s gonna get named head of house. (Faramir, if he starts off just thinking she’s beautiful, is going to have quite the paradigm shift here, because he’s going to have to start reckoning with her as not just a beautiful woman, but as a very, very intense person. This is how his love for her starts to mature.)
Sometimes I dream about him being like, ‘hey! I have some first hand experience of ruling a kingdom, how about I stay and…….. lend you a hand……..’ to Éowyn while she’s keeping watch on Edoras. This is wildly unlikely, but a delightful thought nonetheless. In the more likely case, which is that he goes to the Hornburg, she’s going to start feeling some strain about this whole war shebang, and it’s going to lead to some difficult conversations. Chief among them is that Faramir, as second son, actually has basically nothing to give her, which is not exactly a great position to be in when you’re in love with the niece of a king. I’m of the opinion that Éowyn’s not fussed by that stuff (she agrees to marry him when he’s prepping to give up a shit ton of power anyways), so she’s probably like, 'no, fuck you, we’re getting married.' And then he leaves, and it starts to emotionally unsettle her more and more.
If they don’t already have a thing, then it either begins at this point OR he gets overshadowed by Aragorn. In either case, off to Helm’s Deep he goes.
Helm’s Deep happens, I think Faramir ends up extraordinarily impressed by how the Rohirrim handle the Dunlenders afterwards, which also begins to soften his harsh opinion of them more generally.
They go to Isengard, Pippin looks in the Palantír, and away Pippin and Gandalf go. Both Gandalf and Faramir here would recognise that it would be batshit insane for Faramir to go back to MT now, because Denethor would read him like a picture book and he’d have to admit to the entire mission of the Fellowship.
Over in Plot A, I think we’re going to have some real emotional complexity vis a vis Faramir showing up at Henneth Annûn with two hobbits, a ring, and Boromir in control there. God, it would just be a disaster. My incredibly generous interpretation of this is that Faramir keeps the plan vague enough that Boromir lets them pass unhindered. My less generous interpretation is… yeah I don’t wanna do it tbh. It’s not pretty. It's also, to be clear: not an indictment of Boromir as a character. His response is entirely rational for someone expected to lead a kingdom and for someone put up against the unbelievable power of the One Ring. The reason Faramir continuously gets to pass largely untempted by the ring is because he's a guy with no actual responsibilities once you take the Rangers away. His understanding of his duty to Gondor is almost entirely conceptual in nature. He can think and talk about defending Gondor as it once was because there are several people above him in the hierarchy defending Gondor for what it is. This is also not an indictment of Faramir. He and Boromir just have wildly different realities to contend with.
They are going to go through Cirith Ungol even though Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumbass both speak Sindarin and don’t cotton on to what its name implies lol. This whole scene is much shorter because Faramir’s significantly more cautious, so there is no Orc capture and Sam doesn't take the Ring. This is where things get a bit complex, and where I don’t think I have the imagination to say much more. Sorry!
Back in Plot B, the lads catch up with Éowyn as they prep to go down the Paths of the Dead. If she and Faramir are a thing, this is where the real emotional distress kicks in for her. All of the men in her life have, at one point or another, functionally abandoned her, and here’s Faramir, love of her life, about to do the exact same thing. Faramir inevitably goes with the Grey Company even though she begs him not to. When she tries to convince them not to go down the Paths at all, he is in the fortunate enough position to throw up his hands and say 'not my call, actually. King’s in charge,' which lessens the emotional conflict there somewhat.
No part of me doubts that Éowyn wouldn’t then immediately go over his head to Aragorn. She would, she absolutely does not give a fuck. And she’s going to get knocked back re: joining them in exactly the same way as in the book, because Aragorn’s take here isn’t actually dependent on her personally, it’s dependent on the duty she’s been charged with, which is taking care of her people. (Also going to be an interesting narrative parallel to a later conversation between Faramir and Aragorn after the Pelennor, which I’ll explain in more detail later.)
Faramir will, perhaps somewhat less dismissively, say this to her. He learns much more obviously the way to talk to her on her own terms, and he’s not gonna fall into the trap of letting her be like ‘you just want me to wait and die after all the men are dead.’ He’s going to probably give her some line about her being the last organised line of defence, and he might even invoke Haleth! It’s not going to work, because Éowyn’s very aware of the apocalyptic nature of all of this, but it’s not going to cause such abject hatred and fury as it otherwise would.
If she and Faramir are not a thing, her emotional distress is as it is in the book, except now Faramir’s trying not to pout in the background. He might even step in to try and soften the blow.
Regardless, she ends up as Dernhelm, she rides to the Pelennor.
Boromir is the one responsible for the Osgiliath retreat, and because it’s heavily implied that Faramir only keeps his seat because he’s got this dumbass Númenor garbage going on ('master of man and beast' — king Beregond), Boromir’s going to get killed by the Witch king here.
This is going to send shockwaves through not just Denethor, but Minas Tirith more generally, because Boromir is fucking adored. Denethor’s going to go high holy crackers much quicker, mostly because Gandalf is a shit stirrer and is going to waste no time at all in announcing that Aragorn, The Rightful King, is on his way, and Denethor will — correctly — surmise that Faramir has chosen Aragorn over returning with whatever Isildur’s Bane is to Gondor. This is the end for Denethor.
Éowyn rides from Dunharrow, slays the Witch king. Faramir and Aragorn show up with the Army of Dead, Faramir does not end up injured, but does end up as the Steward (obviously) and (obviously) aware that Éowyn is in the HOH. And also that everybody else he loves is dead. Yeehaw.
Here’s where I think things get really interesting. I think, counter to the way this is portrayed a lot of the time, Faramir doesn’t go to the Black Gate at all. I think he stays in Minas Tirith, not just to organise the wider range defences (esp the Rohirrim dealing w the Druadan) but in this very grim preparation to lead the retreat from Minas Tirith if/when Frodo & Sam fail. I think he's kind of fine with this for two reasons. The first is that him being conscious to process the death of his father, and it coming hours after the death of his brother means that he's going to have a personal-political crisis, and he's going to have to take the defence of Gondor more seriously than he did before. Second, Aragorn's going to tell him to fucking stay put, and he's going to be fine with it because it means he's going to get to spend the last few days of his life with Éowyn.
He and Éowyn reunite in the HOH, there’s still a lot of deeply emotional stuff going on, but, at least now Faramir’s conscience is clear re: marrying her because, well, he’s the Steward now. Also their reunion is going to take on greater significance because she’ll have killed the thing that killed his brother. So, that’s a lot.
If they are not a thing before the Pelennor, she's still going to drag his ass over to the HOH so she can bitch about being stuck there. But this time he's not a fellow hospital-prisoner, he's having to actually do things, and he's going to use that to his advantage in terms of keeping her from doing stupid shit. I think he's going to try to involve her in some of the strategic questions re: the retreat if the Morannon feint fails. I think he's going to make a point of talking to her to get her help on dealing with the Rohir forces that are in and around the City. I think that's going to go a huge way to helping to ease her misery, and it's going to be such a significant vote of trust in her (even after she's done the unthinkable and deserted her people) that she's going to fall in love with him here, as per. And the contrast between him and Aragorn is going to be all the stronger for it.
So yes. Those are just some of the possibilities I think! Sorry for the word dump!!

my thoughts on season 2
or rather, a list of things i didn’t like about it and a few things i did. spoiler warning, of course :~)
hello friends, thank you for joining me on my journey to convince the world to hate season 2 - I’M KIDDING LOL i liked season 2, but there are quite a few things i wasn’t that happy with and i’m going to cry about them like a baby now.
1. my second biggest disappoint with this season... NO HAZEL!!! i’m devastated!!!! i absolutely love hazel’s character and the depth cameron britton brought to the role.. i can’t believe they killed him so quickly :( maybe cameron had other work commitments but man i’m so sad. i seriously felt the lack of his presence this season and it was a dynamic that was sorely missed imo. the swedes could never.
2. the plot moved slower than i’d like. season 1 was very well paced, it felt non-stop, and like they were always working towards a goal, moving somewhere. some parts of season 2 felt slow or like things had come to a standstill and we were just watching them live rather than seeing them work towards something. which is fine if that’s what you’re into, but for me i think TUA works best when it’s GOGOGO like in season 1, and when it wasn’t, we had really intimate character moments, which i felt season 2 lacked.
3. the music didn’t hit as hard :( when i think of season 1 i can immediatley name a multitude of iconic scenes with the soundtrack - five murdering everyone in the doughnut shop, the bowling alley fight, i think we’re alone now OF COURSE, the slowmo montage to all die young, hazel and chacha burning the prosthetics building, gerard’s cover of happy together, five walking through the apocalypse to noel gallagher, run boy run, etcetcetc. those all just came off the top of my head. when thinking about season 2 i can only name two scenes off the top of my head (frank sinatra and backstreet boys). which is pretty sad.
4. the characterisation felt weaker overall. it didn’t feel as complex or deep whereas i felt season 1 really delved into each character and explored them a lot more. they all felt slightly watered down, especially luther, oh my god!! they turned him into a characeture whose only purpose is to eat a lot of food and pull silly faces. that was really disappointing. i’d hoped we’d get some scenes with him where he’d discuss all the pressure put on him by their dad, the guilt he feels for screwing up, insecurity etc. the scene with him and five in the club only scratched the surface. plus, allison only mentioned her daughter two times? it was really bizarre to me, it literally seemed like she’d forgotten about her. and speaking of forgetting family members...
5. why does nobody give a shit about ben. i’m fuMING. they all saw ben in the season 1 finale and then they didn’t even care to mention him other than five asking if ben was there once, only once the family were all back together mind you, and when klaus said no, none of them even questioned it. despite the fact that klaus very clearly is talking/bickering with a spirit in front of them several times. none of the are like ‘uuhh klaus are you talking to ben or like...’ and that is really goddamn sad. ben deserved so much better.
6. ben’s arc in general! this is my biggest disappointment with this season. personally i’d really hoped they’d go the route that klaus would learn to control his powers and manifest ben in the real world for limited periods of time, like when ben punched him in the face or when ben pulled klaus and diego out from under the falling roof of the academy. and then eventually, when the show ended, ben could ~move on~ and go to the afterlife after being able to spend time with his family. but nooo. he’s back to being invisible, uncared about, forgotten and miserable. i like that they let him possess klaus for a bit and experience the world again, that was nice. though when it turned out klaus had already slept with his crush and she called him d*ddy i did my bigget sigh ever. and he’s just gone now. he doesn’t even get to go to heaven. he’s just. nothing. and vanya is the only one who even acknowledged it (other than klaus obviously). i swear to god, if season 3 doesn’t do a scene where klaus ~dies~ for a bit and goes to the afterlife again and sees ben there, i will RIOT.
7. didn’t much like klaus’ storyline this season either. the cult thing was a bit weird and wasn’t done in the way i’d expected them to do it at all. i thought klaus would be a lot more sombre and serious this season too without the drugs to distract him, but he still acted high and Quirky the whole time, which is a shame, i’d love to have seen some more depth added to his character. plus, i thought he took the drugs because the ghosts were always bothering him.. we literally didn’t see any other than ben. also the stuff with dave was... Not Good. the kid they cast as dave had zero chemistry with klaus/robert, and he looked super young so it was.. kind of weird to see klaus be all like I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU. and i don’t think it even went anywhere. it just seemed pointless to me.
8. i felt like the fallout from the previous season was really glossed over. like vanya just forgot everything and everyone else is kinda like *shrugs* ah well. idk man i feel like there would’ve been a much bigger emotional cost and internal turmoil than there was.
9. i hated the ending. sorry. it felt really ~generic superhero story~, as did the siblings vs commission thing in the last episode, which TUA isn’t supposed to be. and emo ‘ben’ made me cringe gfhjskkdfj. plus the oopsy we did a timeline fucky thing is getting a lil old now but whatever. plus the sparrow academy means a bunch of new characters which means screentime will get even more split from the main siblings, which i don’t want.
so yeah.. i have some gripes with season 2. that said....
i did like some things!! i loved vanya having a female love interest, hell yeah. i loved five meeting old five, their dynamic was really fun and the dude who played old five was great, i feel like he really delivered his lines the same way aidan does. lila was cool too, i really liked the actress, she did great. seeing the siblings get closer was really nice too.
overall, i’d give the season a 6.5/10, so yeah, i did still enjoy it!!! i just don’t think it was as good as season 1, by quite a long way, and i have some things i didn’t like. feel free to disagree with me tho, i’m just a big dumb idiot. and thanks for reading :~)

Hey battle of bands au anon here! Thank you sooo much for the advice , I've decided to choose all might because I dont want my fic to be too angsty or plot heavy. I also realised afo can be a very complex character to write and I dont think I can pull that off in my first fic. Also I love the approach you're taking on AFO in stringmaster , it is currently one of my favs!
I haven't read all your fics (yet) but as far as I have read I dont think endeavor has had a major role in any of your fics but if you have any advice on his characterisation then I'd love that. I want this fic to be more fluffy with just a little angst so I dont want to make endeavor as horrible as canon. He's still obsessed with his children (shoto and dabi) being number 1 but I guess not as horrible to his family. Basically I'm stuck at a scene where endeavor has to react to dabi being ranked 2nd in a pleasantly surprising way but not completely out of character. Idk if that made any sense or not I feel like I'm having trouble putting things into words.
Anyways thanks for the advice and if you have any regarding this scene pls help a girl out lol
Ha ha, glad to hear it helped out! And yeah, he can be, hell I’d say Tomura can also be very tricky to write given his complexity. But def. AFO is up there as well.
Stringmaster AFO is fun (and challenging) to write, because it’s this...weird contradiction, where he does understand emotions and how humans work in theory, but lacks the ability to sort instinctively realize these things himself. Basically meaning he both gets and doesn’t get it.
Almost everything needs to be conscious choices to him for the most part, rather than just knowing how to react in situations where empathy is needed.
But enough about that!
Yeah, I don’t use Endeavor a whole lot in my fics other than being the bad father he is in canon, because...tbh I find his character pretty boring? Like his most interesting parts are basically plot device stuff to have an impact/act as motivation for more important/interesting characters. (I.E Dabi and Shoto) Without those he’s just...kinda generic prideful grumpy guy? He just doesn’t really stand out to me from any other hero outside the bad parenting.
It probably bothers me more/is more noticeable than it would with other mangas I’ve read, because he gets contrasted against well-written and complex characters like many of the villains, or if I have to pick a hero example, Aizawa and Toshinori.
(To be fair, I have this issue with a lot of the hero side characters, they feel really underdeveloped/one-dimensional to me a lot of times. I get you can’t flesh out every single one of your hundreds of characters properly, but sometimes even more central focused hero characters feel underdeveloped to me, IDK)
....I better cut this rant short and get back on topic about the actual question haha
I feel like I’d probably need more context of what is going on to give proper useful tips, but the first thing that comes to mind would probably be him doing kind of a backhanded compliment or so, where he expresses that Dabi did good job but also still make him feel like it’s not enough? IDK how to demonstrate that exactly tho.
I think the best example I can offer is Stringmaster AFO, now that he was brought up? Like the birth of Mon-chan comic I made, (here in case you dunno what I’m talking about) where he compliments Tomura about his achievement, but then casually tells him he could scrap it and try again because it wasn’t perfect. In his mind he was stating a fact, but it comes off pretty cold, especially to a kid who’s looking for his approval.
Something along those lines could work with Endeavor too, though obviously his delivery would have to be more exaggerated and aggressive, because he’s not suave/well-mannered (or lessay pretentious) like AFO lmao
Also I think to make it feel in character someone would probably have to point out to him that he needs to be more encouraging and supportive, because a prideful dude like him’s gonna struggle being able to figure it out himself. So it’d be like “good comment, bad comment, gets scolded and tags on another good comment clumsily” or something.
IDK if any of that helps, but I tried at least. Either way I’m looking forward to reading your fic someday if you manage to write it. Who knows, maybe you’ll get some fanart for it too C;
