Okay so another pretty good comic you might wanna read is Man-Bat (2021). The Suicide Squad are put in at the end of issue 1 and issue 2 is all about them fighting Man-Bat. I'm not sure how good it is as a Man-Bat fan, but there's probably something there you can use for incorporating Captain Boomerang into your au potentially. I honestly keep forgetting about it because it's just sort of one of those issues that you gotta go out of your way to find because it's like... Issue 2 of a miniseries so when you're only interested in issue 2, it's kinda a weird one for someone like me who only wants it for Captain Boomerang.

Every time he tries to break free, run from me, I pull him back. I remember another time, grabbing him around the waist and tossing him onto the bed, and the exhilarated grin he flashed up at me, blond hair disheveled. After, when he looked at me like I was the greatest gift life had given him so far--And I am. He just doesn't realize it yet.

He can't make the hard choices. He's too soft--too kind.

So I'll make the hard choices. I'll be his soldier, his butcher. I'll let him keep his hands clean, and give him the peace of mind he deserves. We both deserve it.

This is really good man. The way August grows more and more obsessed with him, and the genuine human love he already felt morphs into need and gravitational pull cause there ain't no speedster who can stay tf away from Barry.

Love the way it's tell don't show about the progression (and ruin) of their relationship. The way August convinces himself that he's actually doing a good thing despite how much he's making him suffer. Perfect.
