I haven't read enough comics to speak to the validity of this post, but I find it funny. Also, does The Spectre even pay taxes? With Jim Corrigan being dead (although i don't think he told anyone he was dead), does he even still pay them? Same with Doctor Fate. The man lives in a tower without windows or a door. I pity the IRS agent in charge of his case..
And you know, I could almost see The Spectre being a homophobic jerk. I mean... he's the avatar of vengeance for the old testament god. The old testament god flooded the earth because people weren't sufficiently faithful, he broke the tower of babel because he was petty and mad at humanity, he kicked adam and eve out of his garden because they dared pursue knowledge. The man was a jerk, even by religion standpoints. So any agent of the abrahamic old testament god might be pretty nasty themselves.
I am so sorry

nothing would be funnier than the bats universe-hopping and finding all these different versions of jason, and shoving in their jason's face that these alternate jasons would not agree with his fatal treatment of criminals (because some of them look straight up happy and have great relationships with bruce + the others).
but then to everybody's surprise, each jason has their own variation of their jason's methods. they literally all have similar opinions, even the ones who didn't die at the joker's hands. some were robin and some were never robin, some were adopted by bruce and others weren't, some lived worse lives than their jason and others lived much better lives-- but they all became their own version of red hood either way.
and jason is just absolutely having the best time looking at the bats' disappointed faces

The idea that some people still think Nesta’s main traits are supposed to be bitchy, mean, and a hater…idk what to tell you but the whole point of her healing journey is to not be those things because all it did was hurt everyone around her and herself.

To any readers out there that might be wondering if an author would like to know of your disgust and disappointment that they made a character you headcanon as a top a bottom in a sex scene I can answer for sure that they do not 🙂

Nikei Yomiuri has BPD: the masterpost
So I've been formally requested to make a post on why I believe Nikei has BPD- so strap in, folks, this is gonna be a long one.
I want to preface this with, I am in no way a mental health expert, I am in no way qualified to actually diagnose anyone with anything, but I am a weirdo who likes to read the DSM-5 for kicks who also happens to think about Nikei Yomiuri a lot. Everything I say needs to be taken with a grain of salt, yadda yadda yadda, you know how that all goes.
TW for discussions of sui, CSA and SH. I am not planning to discuss any of these topics in depth (except for the first one, due to just. Nikei being Nikei), but if the topics distress you in any way, I would advise simply not reading this. Look after yourself.
So, firstly, I would like to discuss how BPD develops. Though there are many possible causes, such as genetics, affecting the on-set of BPD symptoms, one of the most common causes is childhood abuse, especially CSA. We currently do not yet know Nikei's backstory and how he was 'saved' by Utsuro, but it is commonly believed that it had to do with CSA. It both explains some of his behaviors- the weird hypersexual tendencies and his extremely negative reaction to being touched by Mikado from behind, for example- and 'fits', so to speak, Void's tendency in everyone there suffering some sort of child abuse. This is mostly to explain how Nikei fits the common parameters of someone in whom BPD could develop.
Now, as for the diagnostic criteria: the DSM-5 dictates there are 9 major symptoms of BPD, and in order to qualify, the patient needs to fulfill at least 5.
Before I go over which of the symptoms he fulfills, I want to start with stating that Nikei is a particularly hard character to get a read on, mostly due to him faking his personality for the greatest majority of the game, and though I do not believe everything about him that we see is 100% fake at all times, it would be presumptuous of me to discern what I personally believe to be real or not. Therefore, I will keep myself limited to:
His actions throughout the game (plus the ones he made from behind the scenes and also what he did before the actual happenings of the game)
Nikei's bouts of anger (which he is shown to be physically unable to control)
Chapter 6's Void Theatre (since Linuj has stated that Nikei was being truthful in it and was thus is 'real self')
Talking about his anger… symptom number 1, "Inappropriate, intense anger that can be difficult to control" and symptom number 2, "Rapidly shifting intense emotional dysregulation". I don't think I need to go too in-depth when talking about how he fits these symptoms. If you have played the game, you know Nikei is shown to turn easily aggressive in ways he seems unable to control. I think the scene that highlights that the most is the one in chapter 4 while everyone is in Nikei's room- right after Mikado leaves. Nikei is unable to calm himself down, and has to cut short the meeting due to his inability to regulate his emotions properly. Honestly, Nikei in the fourth trial could also be used as an example for this.
Symptom number 3, "Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment". The man's gut reaction to Emma, Hajime and Iroha 'leaving' him was to come up with a plan to fuck over the man who took them away from him. It's actually a little hard to express myself in-depth on these first points, because I feel as though it would just be me repeating the game's plot points or just. Describing his character, rather than adding anything new to the discussion… of course, it's also pretty obvious that Nikei has extremely unstable relationships (again, Void), so he fits the fourth symptom as well, "Unstable and chaotic interpersonal relationships, often characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation, also known as "splitting" ". He doesn't necessarily 'split' on anyone in game, unless you count the fact that he can go from developing a crush on Sora to hating her guts in chapter 4, though in that case, his sudden hatred is more than understandable, considering the context- but I have to stress, it is almost impossible for us to know how Nikei feels about people in general, since most of his relationships are technically developed off-camera. As I am talking about Nikei's relationships, I feel like it would be a disservice to this 'theory' to not bring up this specific answer to a question that Linuj himself gave:
Tumblr media
Nikei is not healthy with his interpersonal relationships. While this comment is strictly about romantic relationships, it is not a stretch to say that he gets obsessive about others in general- ergo, his relationships are unstable by definition.
Our fifth symptom is "Markedly disturbed sense of identity and distorted self-image"- one of his most obvious characteristics as a person is his inferiority complex, which feeds into his desire for power. To this, we can also add his struggle with his own self-worth. We don't know why exactly Nikei idolizes his hand as of yet, but it doesn't take an expert to realize that no matter the reason, his obsession with it doesn't exactly give us the impression his self-image is in any way stable.
Theoretically, I could stop here, since to be diagnosed you only need to fulfill 5 symptoms, but I am an overachiever to a fault so I'm gonna go on.
Symptom number 6, "Impulsive or reckless behaviors (e.g., uncontrollable spending, unsafe sex, substance use disorders, reckless driving, binge eating)". Now this might be weird to some of you, since Nikei doesn't really show any of these behaviors in game (again, not counting personal headcanons for this, so even if I do believe Nikei is definitely a reckless driver, I can't exactly say that counts since it is 100% based on vibes) but these are all just examples of reckless behaviors- Nikei has just significantly more personalized ones. Like, say, participating in a killing game of his own free will, or using an actual stun gun on himself rather than just pretending to be unconscious, or randomly changing key details of the plan he made supposedly months prior on the fly (ie adding Teruya to the mix when his spot was originally supposed to be taken by Syobai). Assuming Nikei has BPD actually makes chapter 4 make more sense.
"Recurrent suicidal ideation or self harm"- this is the last symptom I am going to talk about, and the primary reason for the TW at the start. This is probably gonna be somewhat headcanon-y, and if anyone wants to disregard that as such I cannot exactly fault them for it, but hear me out: Nikei's plan counts as a suicide plan. Nikei is not an idiot- he would have known that, no matter how it ended up going, if he failed or not, Nikei was gonna die either way- if his plan worked and Yuki was executed, Mikado would have retaliated and killed him in revenge; if his plan worked and Yuki got away with it, he would have died in the mass execution; and if, how it happened in canon, he failed he would have been killed, too (Mikado may have said that he would have forgiven Nikei if he returned back to Void, but let's be real here- that was a bold faced lie. He was just gloating). This plan would have ended up with him dead no matter what, and he was okay with it- which I don't need to tell you, is not exactly something someone who has never considered suicide before would do.
(Also random thought that I probably wouldn't be able to fit in another post- Nikei's execution itself is fairly odd, in the sense that he was ultimately the one who killed himself. He was the one that ran up the stairs, he was the one that jumped off the building, he was the one that failed to catch the ladder- hell, jumping off a building is a pretty common suicide method. His death is unique in the sense that he brought it all to himself- he was the only executee that wasn't tied down in any way, all his actions were truly his choice. He didn't need to run away from the Monocrows, but he did. He didn't need to go up the stairs instead of down, but he did. He didn't need to jump, but he did.)
The last two symptoms are:
Chronic feelings of emptiness
Transient, stress-related paranoid or severe dissociative symptoms
Which I don't think I can apply to Nikei in good conscience, since it's pretty hard to discern how that man is feeling at all times (other than, well, when he is raging). That would wound up being wayyy too headcanon-y for even me to excuse. Like, do I believe he is depressed? Absolutely. Do I believe he has PTSD? Certainly, but I can't point to any exact action he takes in game and point to it to say that he is 100% depressed. It's mostly just vibes. And again, I don't really need to? I have already given ample evidence as to why I believe Nikei has BPD, even without these last two symptoms.
(I mean, I COULD prove that Nikei has PTSD- if we consider his more than likely sexual trauma and his reaction to him being grabbed by Mikado specifically, someone who he considers to be a threat- that certainly feels like PTSD to me. Even without that, I genuinely doubt anyone that lived through the Tragedy DOESN'T have PTSD. Anyway I am losing track of the post here-)
I don't exactly know how to end this, but yeah! That's about it. Nikei has BPD, thanks for coming to my TedTalk.

i stand with you in the face of a defensive misunderstanding of what critique is.
i think understanding what a critique actually is is a skill that increasingly is not taught. i remember going through freshman art courses feeling the frustration that all negative, nasty, unhelpful, and missed-the-point-entirely feedback is so commonly conflated with critique, and then critique gets a bad name because everyone remembers the time someone said their painting looked like an asshole (true story, altho now i think i would take it as a compliment) instead of the time a teacher or friend or classmate helped them uncover a hurtful bias or think of new ways to explore the same idea or how to connect it to related ideas or how to look up and understand other people's ideas on the same topic.
anyway i think you're great.
ahhh you're so kind to me!! i appreciate your support, and i think you are great also.
i have experience with giving and receiving critique as a student myself, and i think it was the best part of my degree! i majored in creative writing in college, and critique was just a generally accepted part of learning to become a writer. i don't even remember people being especially worried about receiving critique on their work. we had guidance on what kind of feedback was useful, but we were still at liberty to give it as we saw fit as like messy 19 year olds. the standard was that we gave it both written on printed copies of the work AND aloud in front of the whole class, and the writer receiving it was not permitted to speak during the critique. understanding how people are perceiving your work is important!
i don't have any particularly negative recollections of the critique process, although once in a high school writing class, the boys in the class told me that my male characters touched each other too gently and real boys are more rough with each other. in particular, they took issue with me writing that one boy nudged another. nudging is too soft. nudging is for girls. that was more than 20 years ago, and i still think about it sometimes because it was such an interesting perspective! i did not take their advice, though.
i should dig up that piece and see if it reads queer in any other ways. i think that's what they were getting at. (actually i once had a non-fiction class tell me i was in love with my roommate after reading an essay i wrote about her)(i did not listen to that advice either, but having 12 acquaintances tell you that you're gay in 2006 before you realize it yourself is Truly Something!)
i think people have conflated criticism and critique and think that being more openly analytical is the same thing as being negative. but analysis is so fun to me! analysis is why i joined fandom in the first place, and it's why i write fic! can we trust each other to be respectful and to speak in good faith even when we're not singing each other's praises? for me fandom would be better if we could.
oh i also want to clarify that i don't think it's impossible to demonstrate that you've thought deeply about a piece of fanwork while remaining completely positive. people do it all the time and do it very well!
i know i sometimes have tunnel vision wrt my own perspective. in a lot of situations, i wish it were more acceptable to be more direct, and i know people sometimes find the way i express myself to be kind of shocking. i know a lot of people like to be spoken to more indirectly than comes natural to me, and i don't mean to imply that my perspective is the only correct one or that there's no good reason to err on the side of gentleness/politeness in our responses to amateur art and writing. i just think that at a certain level of circumspection, it feels like we're all holding each other at arm's length.
i think for people who can't bear to feel exposed, making and sharing art is always going to be painful and difficult, and maybe too painful and difficult to enjoy the process unless they're sure of a soft landing. but like. the rewards of being loved only come after the mortifying ordeal of being known, right?
#ten years ago i had a comment section diagnose me with autism and they were RIGHT. and they loved me!!!!#my portfolio advisor told me that my main character was having a mental breakdown and it made all the people around her seem Villainous#for how selfishly they treated her#and i didn't realize that things seemed so dire for her but i needed to know that in order to make the story make sense!#it wasn't a mean thing to say it was just pointing out something i couldn't see! ik it was different because it was a draft tho#'looks like an asshole' makes me desperately want to see that painting#i didn't know that you're also a visual artist and i'm longing to see your work#there's this movie called igby goes down#where someone tells the main character that they're an artist and he says so do you paint?#and the character responds an artist creates art regardless of what form it takes#and i think the audience is meant to consider that character unbearably pretentious but i totally agree#it has also just occurred to me that some people are nervous about commenting on other people's work#to the extent that they're afraid they'll commit some kind of unintentional faux pas or just leave a disappointing comment#and i get that because you're also kind of sharing yourself by leaving feedback#and you don't want to offend or hurt someone who's created something that resonated with you#idk i guess stepping on people's toes is just a normal part of interacting with them#and almost never fatal

I got verbally bullied by an 80 year old patient today because I was being too NICE to her. And she got in my face telling me, "They train you to be condensecing, you're being fake nice."
And that made me so taken back????? I was utterly confused and replied, "What do you mean condescending?" And this woman basically mocked my voice and said," Dont you know what that means? Condescending is when you're pretending to be nice when you're not, " and got in my FACE about it- Note this, she is sane of mind and was completely able to move around and and speak for herself-just because she's a senior doesn't mean she's innocent. **I DEAL A LOT WITH THE SENIOR POPULATION OKAY AND TRY MY BEST TO BE KIND TO THEM**
I've been so extra sensitive lately, so I kindly removed myself, and I got my supervisor to take over. I did spent half my shift crying, but I was off early today....
Also found out the patient was just awful to everyone...🫥

hc livvy would kinda dress like a stereotypical "loser boy", meaning a not very mainstream fashion sense, like swim shorts and tank tops at the beach (although i think she may have canonically not done so?), and boxers, jorts, clothes that do not match at all, unevenly cut hair, chipped nail polish, etc. idk i always thought of her that way while reading tda, and also she grew up quite isolated and was is at the age where teens, specifically girls, try out makeup and outfits etc and didn't really have anyone to get inspired by. she'd have that style where she matches completely different clothes that either look amazing together or horrible (with a little bit of subtlety)

He knows her as soon as he sees her.
Time Lords always do — when they’re looking. And by Rassilon, he has been looking. Afraid of what he’ll find. Afraid he can’t both save Pond’s baby and the naughty friend he loves.
He didn't recognize the child, but then, he hadn’t yet felt how time courses through River's veins. But now — now he can see.
Mels. Melody. The only water in the forest. His bespoke psychopath. His convicted murderer lover, intact. He failed to save the child.
A smile floods his face, and he runs towards her with open arms.

Michael: Wait so I came back to life after like a couple days... Does that make me Jesus?
Charlie: No! if anyone's the Jesus metaphor in this friendship it's me!
*If Charlie's Eye could twitch it would be*
Michael: Sorry Charlie you're looking at purple zombie Jesus
*Smug look on Michael's purple face*
Charlie: I literally created life! I came back after 3 days and was the first person to possess anything ever! I'm pretty sure I was chosen by God to be the next jesus!
Michael: Sorry purple zombie Jesus can't hear your blasphemy
*Covers up ears and does the la la la loud noise*
*Charlie realizing she's not gonna win the argument*
Charlie: You're an idiot you know that right?

Something about my drawing feels off , i only got into digital drawing few weeks ago and I'm stuck at the same point and lost .. any advice?
Tumblr media
mmm okay first of all this is really good- first impressions-wise, the proportions and anatomy look very solid so there are no major glaring issues so to speak
if you were to ask me, what i think this artwork needs is that sort of 'volume' or depth that most beginner digital artoworks lack. You can achieve this sort of volume in two ways depending on the style you are going for: either by improving the lineart, or by treating the lines just as part of the sketch and painting over them for a more.. ''painterly/rendered'' look if you want to keep the lineart in, what i suggest is adding some "line weight" so that the artwork doesn't look so flat. What i mean by this is to thicken the lines where body parts would naturally overlap (like the neck and shoulder, the nostrils area, the corners of the mouth as well as the tip of the lips etc) and where shadows would normally be for the illusion of volume. After that, i'd also add more shadows and color variation in the colouring layer so that the skin looks more lively and again, for that volume. You can do it with some dark blue or orange on a multiply or an overlay layer, just experiment a bit with colors and blending modes. If you want a more messy/painterly look (which is more down my alley or in line with my artstyle), what i'd personally do is i'd create a new layer on top of everything and just paint over the lines with broader strokes and a darker color in an attempt to add some volume to the shapes and to make the artwork look more cohesive and less "digital" because at the moment, i can tell that it is made up of a Lineart layer, then a Colouring Layer below, that very religiously follows the lineart layer and then maybe a layer on top of that for the other colors and the hair. This is a very common digital art process and a good one to keep in mind but a little secret i can give out that i've noticed in 80% of the artists who have this sort of drawing process is that they will always, always merge everything in one layer at the end and adjust things as they go. They will not keep the layers separated and just never revisit them in the process, despite what it may look like. There will always be something that needs fixing and they will fix it as they go so i suggest doing the same and being a bit more "freeform" with your layers
Anywayss, besides that, I'd also introduce some color variation like in the previous method. As a general tip, try to move the color slider around and don't just shade with a darker variation of the base color. I like how the hair is painted and the shine and everything, it looks very good and everything is pretty much set in place, i'd just render it even more, make it More voluminous. It's just missing a little pop a color: i'd add some blueish gray hues in the brown hair and for the purple hair i'd make it more rich by adding some deep dark blue hues and some faint yellow highlights (bc purple and yellow are complementary colors blabla) As for the shape, think of the hair as chunks of volume that reflect light and that are also affected by gravity.. or as spaghetti if u like flat hair like me bsjsjd That's all i could think of; Again, it's very good and promising considering you started just a few weeks ago, so keep going at it! I hope it was at least somewhat helpful and that i wasn't being too technical with the wording (and that it made sense)

I have many thoughts and ideas about Zarc/Ray Swap AU but I think the one that sticks out the most for me is the funny idea Zarc still has to summons his Supreme King Form to battle Ray, but because she likely wouldn't or ever get the EN cards she is stuck going against his ridiculously overpowered Ace that doesn't let you do practically anything except this time Zarc is in the right for pulling this shit and Ray deserves to go through it.
Zarc:thanks to my effect, my other monsters are unaffected by the effects of your Fusion or Synchro or XYZ monsters
Ray:Wow Zarc, you're such a good entertainer, this duel has been so riveting since that thing was summoned and doesn't let me do shit...no wonder you failed as a dueltainer you fucking asshole
Zarc:Well, normally my entertainment is reserved for people not trying to destroy the world and making life hell for everyone else, so though shit babydoll, should have thought that before starting to murder everyone
Ray:I activate my card effect to destroy your monster once and for all
Zarc:As long as I have Monsters banished or in the graveyard I will never be destroyed
Ray:FUCK! YOU!
Maybe Ray creates Pendulum or En Cards or something after this from the PTSD from their fight.

Alrighty but the amount of people who genuinely believe the show will have the bad ending???? Like fr? This is really what you think? I'm sorry you've seen too much shows with bad endings and it left impact on you that you now don't trust anyone but I promise bd absolutely is not going that way
Look at eps 7 and 8! This is the most angst we got untill now and they both ended on a good note, Kazuki finally moved on from his past and came home and saw his new family sleeping holding hands this was so sweet! And Rei, after this f*cker send him to kill his own mentor in his own birthday! Still in the end Rei is back home with his family where his daughter sang him a birthday song and his partner made him birthday cake and all kinds of food Rei likes i meaann
From what i can tell this show sticks to idk Disney movie principles? Yes there will be some angst but in the end they get their happy ending. That's what VAs were talking about!
Tumblr media
"Here's how things would go in real life" In real life two hitmans would NOT get happy ending in real life it would probably end bad! But it won't okay? It won't! Also take a look at this
Tumblr media
You have to think about what director really wanted convey through this series and how the ending suppose to reflect that thought! Bad ending wouldn't make sense!! At all! Because the main thoughts of the show is that everyone deserves a chance to be happy, you can build your own family and that the blood family isn't always right THESE ARE THE MAIN THOUGHTS THESEE
So yeah you can bite me and throw rocks at me if I'll be wrong but i will not be wrong i have faith in the bd crew

I'm sorry for losing it a little over a relatively tame anon message that was really only expressing care for Arlo; it included a word that was used frequently by my aunt who abused me, and I'm specifically here trying to uncover more memories about that situation so that I can heal from it. I faced abuse and severe neglect at home by my sister and my parents, and sometimes I would be sent to live with my aunt to lessen household tensions because my parents didn't want to deal with figuring out how to get my sister to stop torturing me and attempting to murder me. My aunt was the only source of warmth and love that I had. but it wasn't healthy; she was obsessed with me and she was grooming and sexually abusing me from before I could remember, making for a very complicated relationship. I developed a severe dissociative disorder that I do not talk about, and I'm here trying to find a path to cohesion. I'm also extremely sensitive to having the worst assumed about me despite my track record for not being the worst, for other reasons, so it was a double whammy at the worst possible time.
