My BTS bias is RM, btw. Just so you know.
My sister says he's the one who came up with the Carl Jung concept, so I guess it fits my interests anyway.

THERE WAS AN UPDATE SLEEPING? WHATS THAT??
first of all we start with this beautiful shot
Tumblr media
god thats some cool architecture i have no words clapping
Tumblr media
Wind is so ready to kick that lizard's ass i love him
Tumblr media
this confirms the fact that theyre in the same place but in a different era (also i swear im convinced that this place takes place at least no far from Hyrule's era, the statue behind Legend and the corridors inside are almost the same as in Zelda1 and 2)
Tumblr media
that was the worst joke i have heard today good job rulie lots of kudos /lh
Tumblr media
the boys entering a place where they could find the most dangerous shit in all Hyrule, and then there's my girl who is having the best lunch ever
Tumblr media
when i first read this i almost spit all my water on my phone cuz. Wars my man these people are like. crazy with dungeon crawl. you can't say that and expect a normal reaction.
their expressions are gold no notes
Tumblr media
TIME'S SIDE EYE LMAO
Sky looking concerned, and Wars with the most "i dont know what is everyones problem but alright" face i love him
Tumblr media
In a war there's no time to explore or search for things that can be useful, or even search for clues, less with the fact that youre leading an army. There was no puzzle, no mistery to solve or objects that needed to be obtained, just plain fight and confrontation, not leaving space for investigation or even a good rest in town
Tumblr media
They have a point, without exploring they wouldn't have the arsenal that they carry; powerful items that can kill a whole army of monsters, a gift left by the hero before them to help, shinies. All that is really useful when you want to save the whole kingdom
Tumblr media
lets not forget all the weapons that you can get on HW, there are some that are like, crazy powerful, and the materials get from the enemies are also really helpful
Tumblr media
guys i think youre the only crazy people who love to enter a random place full of monsters and maybe a demon lord or smth
Tumblr media
OK THIS IS THE PANNEL WHERE I WANTED TO TALK A LITTLE ABT
This reminds me of this short comic where Wild was almost grabbed by a wallmaster, do this takes place some time before this scene?? or just from another time?? I find possible the first option cuz Wild looks more wary the whole update, like if he already found out what will happends if he puts his guard down
Also the fact that the closest thing that he had as a dungeon were the Divine Beast and the shrines, which both of them lacked a lot of things that were usually in the clasic zelda's dungeons, like keys, mini bosses, special object and pots.
Tumblr media
Hyrule my guy you dont. have to scare him like that. i hate these things too but calm down.
Tumblr media
fucking gremlin /pos
taking this as an opportunity to talk about how Legend's behaviour has been seen changed in the past updates, he's more relaxed and playful, taking a moment to just have fun and prank the rest of the chain
this reminds me
Tumblr media
here is left clear that he's still young, maybe not even on his twenties, and now after that stressfull time with Twi being on the verge of death it makes sense that he feels the need of just, goof around to cope after all that
Yes he's the most experienced, yes is maybe the most powerful of them, but he's still a young boy who was dragged to all this, he deserves to have some fun
Tumblr media
happy guy :)
Tumblr media
and then we have Time, he looks like Not Having A Good Time™
Tumblr media
Messy hair Warriors <3
also i know we all put Sky as one of the adults, but cmon he's a little shit as much as the rest, thats why he finds funny Legend's joke
Wild my man you good? like im genuinely asking at this point, it is weird seeing him so serious
Tumblr media
god thats such a cool design of a skulltula, its so scary 10/10
Tumblr media
Wild has never seen in his life a spider of this size, so it makes sense him just, straight up getting surprised by that thing
Tumblr media
OUGHH I FELT THAT
Sky being right-handed looks like a problem in this closed space, soon or later it would make some troubles
Tumblr media
Legend no offence but did you see the little accident they had right there. like. that really hurts if you ask me.
Tumblr media
Okay Time is really at his limit here, the past days has been hell for him with the stress of almost loosing the one that he might see as his son, and seeing all the boys just playing around is not helping. Theyre all heroes, they should take this danger seriously if they want to stop all danger.
Tumblr media
He wants to protect the ones that he cares for, even if he has to snap for it.
Here he might be planning to team up with Twi and Wind? The youngest seems to have gained his attention as his second successor. He will make anything it takes to not let all of them get hurt, and with everything he means it
Just wait when he learns that Legend is also his successor, automatically adopted
NOW MY FAV PARTS WITHOUT COMMENTARY!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SOMEHOW I GOT THE IMAGE LIMIT???? I DIDNT THOUGHT THAT IT WAS POSSIBLE ON WEB
anyways have confused warriors as the last one pls aprecciate him
Tumblr media
tumblr pls let me eat the art i beg you
art credits as always towards @linkeduniverse! always feeling blessed with all this fantastic work!

Chapter 3
For the brief, quiet moments after you stepped into Jungkook’s foyer, your nerves slipped away as you forgot why you were in his home at all. As mentioned, you hadn’t gotten a good look at the inside of the house the one and only time you had been there. You had a tent, and only entered through the mudroom to use the toilet and - if you were lucky - the shower.
But now, walking through the front door, and stepping into the main space bathed in the bright, warming light of the sun, you were awe-struck. The entire interior was made of poplar wood - from the live-edge wall planks, the trunk beams, to the paneled ceiling. The natural orange shade of the wood wasn’t over-bearing or too rustic - perhaps because Jungkook’s furniture and decor was so airy and light. Most rooms opened to each other, yet were divided by a slight change in elevation, with the main hall acting essentially as a catwalk between them all. To the right was the living room, which was about three stair steps below where you stood. Its West-facing wall was nothing but tall glass windows. The North wall, of course, had a large, stone fireplace that looked as if it should have several antlers displayed above it. The back of the living room was lined with some more stairs - two-steps up to the kitchen area, and five-steps up to what you assumed was some sort of dining room nook. There were so many windows. So much natural light.
You peered ahead through the hall, and noticed a few more doors and openings - all also trimmed with stair cases that either took you up or down. Although you couldn’t see much of it, the space at the end of the hall was pure white, and de-elevated a bit deeper than the rest of the rooms. You assumed it was his studio - there was no other reason to cover up such beautiful architecture if it weren't for functionality. Your eyes followed another set of stairs upwards, and you noticed there was a partial second level. Just a straight hallway, leading to what you assumed were two bedrooms and maybe a bathroom. It was lined with wrought iron banisters, which overlooked the many rooms below.
“Victoria’s Secret?” You were suddenly jolted out of your trance, jumping slightly as you were reminded that Jungkook was standing just behind you.
“Sorry?” you twisted around, looking at him confused.
“Your bag,” he nodded to the wide, stiff paper shopping bag you had clutched in your hands. “You did a little shopping?”
“Oh!” you looked down to see the company’s name scrolled across the paper, which at one point only housed your wedding lingerie. “I, um, didn’t really go home after… everything. This is my suitcase for now, I guess,” you shrugged.
“Makes sense. There’s not a lot of those types of fancy stores on the way up here.”
“Yeah,” you smiled, thinking of how difficult it was to find even a discount store. “Sorry to disappoint. If things were different, I would have come... better prepared.”
Jungkook’s mouth curved, and you liked what it implied. He was thinking about you… and lingerie… and you liked how the image it painted reflected in his eyes. He stepped towards you, slowly and casually - not in any way aggressive or threatening. But - it felt threatening as he closed the space between you. Threatening in a thrilling way. You once again became hyper aware of his size, of his tall legs and broad shoulders, feeling like you were being dwarfed by his physicality as well his mere existence. His eyes were on yours, glinting with a touch of mischief as he stepped just too suggestively close to you. Then he bent slightly at the waist, and you felt his fingers brush over yours as he grabbed a hold of the string handles of your bag.
“Lemme help you with your suitcase, then” he said, a wry grin teasing his lips as he curved his tongue around the words, and slipped the bag out of your hands - respectfully leaving your purse with you. He had brains.
You exhaled a smile, realizing he was teasing you - and also realizing that somewhere within the past few seconds, you had been holding your breath. “I didn’t know you were such a gentleman.”
“Hm,” he chuckled, then winked, “not all the time."
You werent entirely sure he meant it as an innuendo, but regardless, his words sent a delicious shiver up your spine.
He then stepped across the hall to a set of french doors next to the foyer and across from the living room. The glass panes were protected from the inside with soft, white door curtains, so you didn’t know what was behind them, until Jungkook opened one, and you caught a glimpse inside.
A king-sized bed. A bedroom. His bedroom.
“This your room?” you pointed into the space beyond him. You were a bit surprised. You had figured his room was on the top level overlooking the sunrise, not right next to the common areas and overlooking the driveway.
“Yup,” he nodded proudly, once again holding the door for you to follow him in. The gesture was simple, but it felt far from simple. This was his room, in his home - and you hadn't realized what a symbol it was until you were invited into it. This was where you were going to let another man touch you; where you were going to put the nail into the coffins of Chris and Stephanie; and, where you were going to be starting anew. Being invited into his bedroom somehow made everything feel so… real. Yet, somehow, you felt… okay.
You followed Jungkook, your body buzzing as you brushed passed his hulking form, as you stepped into yet another impressive space in his house. Much like the living room, the windows were floor to ceiling, and the room was soft and romantic against the orange wood. You looked out over the yard, indeed noticing the driveway, the front lawn, and the party barn near the tree line. Back at home, a front facing bedroom with floor to ceiling windows would be a nightmare. Hell, a back facing bedroom was nightmare enough. If you forgot for even a second that you hadn’t closed your curtains, you were sure to put on a show for at least five households. But out here, in the quiet, with no passers by, you supposed the rules were different. You could easily make love under the silver shine of the moon and stars, without the risk of being seen by a neighbour walking their dog. What an intriguingly pleasant idea.
Looking further beyond the tree line, you understood why this room was built as such. The scenery was remarkable, and promised views of red sunsets and pink skies. In the distance, you could make out a valley following a curvy stream of water, which was lined with what appeared to be orchards and possibly vineyards.
You turned back to Jungkook. He had taken a seat on the corner of his bed, stretching his arms behind him as he leaned back to balance himself over his palms. His long, lean torso and welcoming lap were now on display - and with the twitch of your awakening pelvic muscles, you remembered again why you were here.
The room then became silent, as you stood there, holding your purse like a cross – you avoiding his gaze – and both of you wondering how to move forward. This was the awkwardness that you feared. What was the formality here? Should you talk some more first, or just bite the bullet and get down and dirty? You were the one who propositioned him, did that mean you should be the one to make the first move? Or was it better if the “favour-giver” was the one to first offer themselves? Why was Jungkook doing this for you at all?
You considered crossing the floor, and seductively crawling onto his lap to mount his hips, but the more you thought about it, the more you talked yourself out of it. Instead, you decided to fill the space between you with mindless banter.
“I can’t believe you own this place,” you admired, once again looking out the window. “It must’ve cost you a fortune.” You immediately regretted speaking. You barely knew Jungkook, and even though you were about to have sex with him, it still felt inappropriate to be commenting on his finances. You spun around quickly, looking as apologetic as you could. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to assume anything.”
“Nah,” Jungkook shrugged and smiled, like you were being ridiculous for apologizing. “I am lucky. This was my grandparent’s getaway cabin. I inherited it. I wouldn’t be able to afford it otherwise.”
“Nice,” you awed in some pathetic version of a 90s surf dudebro. Once again, you regretted it, and - once again - looked at him with wide, embarrassed eyes. “I mean… not nice that they died. I'm sorry for your loss."
Get it together, you idiot, you chastised yourself.
But Jungkook wasn’t in the least bit phased. He didn’t look offended, in fact, he even laughed through the bemused smile he had already been giving you.
“It is sweet… I don’t have a mortgage, and I’m completely off-grid." Now he was just boasting. “So… yeah… I don’t have any major bills to manage. That’s why I can get by making pennies and doing whatever the fuck I want for a career.”
"I thought your businesses were doing really well?” you furrowed your brows, as you leaned against a heavy wooden dresser. You didn’t know how much a painter and photographer made these days, but as far as you knew, he was in demand on the graphic design front. “Stephanie is always talking like you're some sorta secret billionaire," you laughed.
It was then that his face dropped, and you realized your grace period of stupid, none-of-your-business banter was over. You felt instantly guilty, and perhaps terrified that you had destroyed your refuge.
“I’m sorry,” you immediately sputtered out. “I didn’t mean to pry. I’m just nervous and trying to make stupid small talk… Just tell me to shut up when I’m being too much.”
“No, no, no” he shook his head regretfully, as he pushed himself to sit upright. “Don't apologize. It’s not you. It’s…” he paused as he thought about his answer, then grimaced just before he continued, "Stephanie says a lot of things. I just worry about you having the wrong impression of me because of her."
You felt relieved. He wasn’t upset at you - at least he said as much. He just didn’t like the mention of Stephanie.
It was strange. She had always venerated him, and talked about him and her as if they were thicker than thieves. And yet, in under a five minute phone conversation, he had agreed to break her heart. And now you were here, and it was clear he had a visceral reaction to just the mention of her name. You put a pin in that thought to be inquired about later.
“Still… feel free to tell me to shut up when I need to… Nicely, of course.”
He chuckled softly, “Yeah, okay."
Silence befell you both once more, only this time, you decided to avoid useless conversation and your potential fourth strike – and instead, cut right to the chase.
“I don’t know how to do this. I’m sorry, I’ve only been with Chris for the last... ever… I don’t… I don’t know what to do next.”
He looked at you thoughtfully for a moment, but didn’t answer. Your gaze followed his face as he stood up from the bed, and as he began to stroll across the floor towards you. Your skin instantly felt on alert, buzzing more fervently with each inch closed. You didn’t consciously decide too, but at some point you were off the dresser and standing to attention. When he reached you, he wrapped a large hand gently around your hip, pulling himself close enough to tease you with the faint brush of his hips against yours. He took your purse from your hands, setting it aside. Your palms reached up to rest over his chest, and his other hand smoothed itself along the length of your arm in a touch that felt too intimate to have been had with a near stranger. But it felt so good…
You looked up at him, not able to meet his eyes for long since they wanted to fixate on his beautiful mouth, and the freckle that adorned his lower lip.
When he spoke, his voice was calm, soothing, but also low, with a hint of a gravel, " I was thinking maybe you and I should just dive right in and break this ice first?” His hand caressing your arm now dropped and slid around your waist.”
Fuck, yes, your mind screamed, as your lips curled and eyes narrowed into a gracious and seductive display of agreement.
“I think you’re right,” you said, with all the uninhibited confidence you possessed - until it diminished. “I mean… if you really want to.”
“I do,” he nodded, his hand once more brushing up your arm and towards your neck, while his grip on your hip tightened.
“Seriously,” you continued, as your desire began to collide with your apprehension. “Because I know you said you would, but you’re allowed to change your mind.”
“I haven’t,” he assured you, pulling your bodies tighter together as his fingers snaked their way into your hairline and his thumb cradled your jaw. “Have you changed your mind?”
“No, not at all!” you nearly shrieked. You definitely hadn’t changed your mind - especially now that you could feel the stiffness behind his pants pressing into your belly. “I just, want you to know that you don’t–”
“Y/N,” Jungkook interrupted you with a stern, yet flirty whisper of your name. “I'm going to kiss you. So, unless you have some sort of objection, I’m telling you nicely to shut up.”
You accepted his light scolding with a sheepish smile and nod. “Okay. I’m mean, no, I have no objections.”
“Good,” he returned a faint smile of his own, his lips widening and curving gently - until he dipped his face forward, and tilted your head high so those lips of his could gently curve against yours.
The kiss was soft… not in the way that it was unsure and timid - it was tender in a way that was meant to be reassuring and soothing.
You liked it, but you weren't quite sure what to make of your liking it. You had made a promise to never kiss another man other than Chris, and now you were kissing Jungkook - and you felt nothing but good about it.
Jungkook broke the kiss, angled his head to the other side, then brought your mouths together once again. The kiss was still gentle, but firmer than before. You felt yourself melting into him. Knowing he had begun to caress your caution away, he dropped his hand at your face and brought it down to the small of your back. You slid your arms over his shoulders, then braided them behind his neck – you now the one encouraging further contact.
You felt your ass press against the dresser behind you, as Jungkook had managed to walk you against it, and wave his bulge tight against your groin. Your lips parted in a small, silent gasp – and he took the opportunity to slip his tongue inside your mouth.
The flavour of him was foreign – shocking at first, since you were so use to the taste of Chris – but it was also delicious, hot, and exciting. His tongue moved against yours with languid precision, and for some reason, it ignited something delicious, hot, and exciting deep in your gut.
Your kiss soon became more, then more. His hands began to roam the expanse of your body – his fingers leaving a wake of goosebumps over the skin just above your jeans and just barely under the hem of your shirt.
It was happening…
He was getting ready to fuck you, and damn, were you ever ready to be fucked by him. His hands crept higher under your shirt, smoothing around the curves of your waist to the hollows of your back as he pulled you in closer. You wanted more, and you wanted it faster. You wanted more of your skin exposed, more of your flesh kneaded in his hands, more of his body pressed against yours… more of his hot, wet mouth kissing you.
In a quick decisive moment, you chose to initiate the “more.” You had propositioned Jungkook, and he had made first contact – now it was back to you to take you both to the next level.
You untangled your arms from behind his shoulders, and dragged your palms firmly over his chest – now elated at the idea of seeing everything you felt beneath his t-shirt. You raked your nails over his abdomen, until they caught the hem. You then pulled the cotton gently north, and Jungkook got the memo. He released his hold on you, reached behind his head to grab his collar, helping you strip him of the garment in one, smooth motion. His hands were immediately back on your waist, and he pressed his forehead to yours as he moved to start kissing you again – but your gaze was trained elsewhere.
You splayed your palm across the solid planes of his chest, sweeping appreciatively over them as you admire just how fucking beautiful his body was. You should have known… rock climbing and hiking among other outdoor activities were hobbies he was known for.
“My God,” you whispered outloud, unaware you had said anything at all.
He chuckled a soft smile, “You see something you like?”
“Ha!” you grinned, completely not embarrassed by how you were so obviously drooling over him. He was gorgeous, and it was a crime to not let him know that. You looked up at him, showing him every ounce of desire you felt that your eyes could convey. “I always liked what I saw.”
“Yeah?” he tilted his head, his ego lacing with a touch of disbelief.
“Of course,” you said more seductively than you intended to – but it worked as you leaned forward, pressing your lips over a muscular plank, your tongue taking a few liberties with his dark, peaked nipple.
“Good to know,” he took the compliment, and you were delighted to hear a bit more arousal in his tone. His hands dropped to the hem of your tank top. You raised your arms above your head as he peeled your shirt off your body, and discarded it to some unknown corner on the floor. He wrapped an arm around your waist, holding you cautiously as if you might try to escape, while the index finger of his free hand began to trace a line over the hills and valleys of your now expose torso. There was so much praise and worship and need in the way his eyes drank you in. You hated that it made you think about Chris , but you couldn’t help but wonder when was the last time you felt so damn desired.
Jungkook hummed some throaty growl of appreciation, as his fingers began to dance with the lace lining your bra. Your nipples tingled and puckered at the prospect of being worshipped as well.
His three fingers then dropped into the front of your cup, and he pulled downward and released your breast from its confines. In a short instant, Jungkook dropped his head, and you stretched your neck as you felt the heat of his mouth engulf the sensitive bud. He hummed as he sucked you into his mouth, and the vibration rippled through you, making you hum along with it.
He moved to your other breast, only instead of springing your wanton nipple free, he teased over its lace covering. He laved at the fabric with a long, firm swipe of his tongue, leaving your bra hot and dampened, and then cool and tantalizing as the drafty house air swept over it. He licked at it again, sucking the lace and your nipple gently between his teeth, and releasing them to snap back into place. You yelped a little - like you had been shocked by static.
Jungkook grinned triumphantly against the mound of your breast, then caressed the flesh with a kiss that more resembled a bite. His lips made their way up your chest, your neck, your jaw – each inch breached mimicking an inch his body pressed tighter against yours. You graciously reveled in the contact, scooping your arms under his shoulders, and digging your fingers into the solid, muscular columns that lined his back. You wanted to wrap your legs around him, and feel every twitch and stretch of his movements against you. You wanted his pants gone - and yours - to feel more of his erection rubbed over your core. You wanted his skin and his weight to smother you, and to feel your breasts flattened against that sculpted chest of his.
As Jungkook’s hands found their way into the back of your pants, and as he began to knead at the generous flesh of your backside, you reached behind yourself and unclasped your bra, feeling stimulated by their liberation. But they weren’t free for long – not if Jungkook had anything to do with it. His face, which had been focused on nibbling at your ear, pulled from your neck so he could peer down at your chest, and he deftly helped you pull the straps off your shoulders.
You found yourself in a familiar position, his one arm holding you near him, your hips swaying in tandem against each other, while his other hand now squeezed its way over your now completely naked torso. With his lower lip tucked tightly between his teeth, his dark, hooded eyes raked gluttonously over your various silhouettes – admiring every shadow and freckle.
You felt a blush stirring behind your cheeks as you watched him inspect you with such raw appreciation. “See something you like?” you volleyed Jungkook’s question back at him.
“I’ve always liked what I saw,” he retorted with a roughly spoken volley of his own.
God… you thought. If this was only the foreplay to the foreplay, you were in for a very erotic ride. Speaking of foreplay…
He released the tension he had on your body, and his hands dropped to the button of your pants. He didn’t rush to undo it, nor did he take his sweet-ass time. You felt the rumble of your zipper as it passed over your mound, and he caught your lips again just as his palming of your denim-clad junction made you gasp.
You took the opportunity to press your breasts against him, moaning into his mouth as you took pleasure in what you had been wanting for these past few minutes. His skin was warm and smooth against yours; his body felt strong and solid, like you were pulling yourself against a brick wall and not a man. You could feel the faint beat of his heart thumping behind his ribs, and you could sense how each of his muscles tensed and relaxed as he found pleasure and intrigue in your kiss.
He dug his fingers into the waistband of your jeans, and began pulling them south off over your hips. In that moment, you wished you hadn’t worn such skin tight pants. You wished they would just puddle to the floor so you wouldn’t have to let him go. He reluctantly broke your kiss, but made up for it as he trailed a path of licks and nips down the length of your body, peeling your pants off your limbs. He helped you step out of the legs, and your jeans too became lost somewhere in his room.
Kneeling before you, face-to-face with your panties guarding your dampened pussy, he began to gingerly rub the length of your thighs. That was when you noticed, and he noticed, that you were trembling.
“Are you okay?” he looked up at you without judgment.
“Yeah,” you replied. You were okay – you didn’t know why your body was reacting this way when your soul felt completely on board. “I want to. I think I’m just… overwhelmed… I don’t know. I never thought I’d be with anyone else. Sorry.”
“Stop apologizing,” his palms ran soothing circles over your skin. “We’re here on your terms. Just tell me what you want.”
“I want you to keep going,” you said assuredly, punctuating with a rapid nod. “It feels good. I feel good. I’m having a good time.”
He smiled, “Me too.”
Then, something shifted behind his gaze. With a blink, it had gone from empathetic and concerned, to heated and filthy. He kept his eyes locked on yours, and you felt like they had a mystic power to prevent you from looking anywhere else but at him. You felt his fingers squeeze tighter into your flesh as he pulled his face toward your pussy. You held your breath, like you were watching the scene below you in slow-motion. You shifted your weight as you braced yourself for contact. His lips parted, and you saw his tongue relax and drop, just before he latched his mouth wide, and firm over the cotton guarding your clit.
“Oh!” a noise trembled off your tongue, as heat engulfed your centre, and as you felt his wet muscle wave strongly into the bud. He detached himself, tilted his head, and repeated the action, wetting your panties with his saliva to compliment the way his prior ministrations had already dampened them. He detached again, tilted again, and licked you again from a new angle – several times over. It was a stunning sensation of moving between the heat of his mouth when he covered you, to feeling the wet coolness when he exposed you. Perhaps Chris had once been like this – back in your early days together, but you couldn’t recall. With Chris, sex was a clinical and familiar race to climax. Not that it wasn't good sex – it was great to have a partner who knew how to get you off. But you couldn’t remember ever being teased by him, or making time to make sex an erotic adventure. But with Jungkook, and the way he handled you – not worried about needing to get to work in an hour, or back to the household chores, or whatever your busy, domestic lives demanded of you – with Jungkook, it felt like you had all the time in the world.
Moments ago, you felt a rush to have more of him – but now, you felt beyond contented to just let him devote whatever he wanted to you.
You watched adoringly, your lip twisted between your teeth as you absorb the tiny but mounting bouts of pleasure. You braced yourself with one hand over the edge of the dresser, but then let the other drop and smooth over his hand clutching around your thigh. He appreciated your gesture, twisting his wrist so he too could tug gently on your forearm.
He then pulled his face tight and firm into your panties, and your breath hitched as you felt his teeth and lips nibbling around your labia. He pulled back, the fabric of your panties stretching as he pulled them roughly with his teeth. He released them with a snap, and your hips jolted, and you yelped as you felt the cotton-poly-blend slap back against you.
He grinned impishly again – and you began to realise that teasing and shocking his partners was apart of his sex repertoire. The notion thrilled you.
You expected him to resume eating you out – albeit you were hoping that he would strip you of your soiled panties first. But he didn’t. Instead, he began to rise from the floor, until he was once again looming over you, and caging you between himself and the dresser.
“How you feeling?” he asked, and your eyes nearly bugged out of your head.
How were you feeling? The space between your legs was practically a splash pad. He could have easily sunk his bare cock into you minutes ago without any remorse. So, how were you feeling: You were feeling nothing but respect and appreciation for his commitment to detail.
“I, uh,” you nearly laughed as you tried to answer him. “Yeah, I think I’m feeling pretty damn good.”
He laughed as he caught your meaning. You scraped your hands down his torso, then let your fingertips dance around the waistband of his pants. “Can I help make you feel good?” you asked suggestively.
“Mm,” he craned his neck as he thought about it. He definitely wanted you to, but something was holding him back.
“Maybe later. I promised you a good time - I intend to make good on it.”
"Well,” you drawled as you grazed and teased the underside of his waistband, and felt his abs jolt in excitement. “You're off to a good start. But, I like to pull my weight." You then slipped your palm over his pants, and gave his bulge a light squeeze. He rewarded your action by choking slightly on the air. "Lemme suck your dick, Jungkook."
He definitely liked that idea. It was written all over his face, and taut all over his body. He was perhaps a bit taken aback by your forwardness. But he didn't budge on his resolve.
"Trust me, I'd love nothing more than to come down your throat."
A thrilling tingle sparked through your groin as he said it. You liked that idea, so much so that you could practically taste him already. You also liked how the temperature between you was heating up and dirtying down. Perhaps your face didn't show your excitement, however, because Jungkook tilted his head in a slight grimace.
"Too much dirty talk?" he questioned.
“No,” you chuckled, respectfully abandoning his protected hard-on, and opting to slip your hands down the back of his pants to explore his impressive glutes. "Not dirty enough."
"Yeah?" He liked the sound of that too. His fingers then began to trace down your belly, lower, and lower, and lower - and your breathing became shorter and shorter. "What kinda words you like?"
His palm then dipped beneath your panties, and you felt a long set of fingers slip their way through your folds, and the heel of his hand press firm over your clit. Your jaw slackened, and your back arched to buck your hips into his hand. He looked pleased at how you reacted to his touch.
He drew his fingers north, slithering them through your folds, brushing the length of your labia, until they flattened and tugged hard on your clit. Your fingers instead curved, shaping into talons seeking purchase over any bit of his flesh they could find.
"What can I say to turn you on, Y/N?" he prompted you again. You weren't sure you were expected to answer - it was clear on his wolfish grin that he enjoyed how wordless he was making you.
"Um… I don't know... everything?" you panted an answered, although you weren’t sure if it was the right answer… you weren’t really sure of anything right now.
"Mm," he hummed as he thought, dipping his fingers low and pulling them north again. "Cock?"
"Of course," you laughed. But you supposed it was possible some people didn't care for the term.
His index finger slid south again, and teased itself around your entrance. Your kegels clenched as they prepared for him to invade you - but he didn’t. Not yet. He languidly split his way through your slick slip, and parted your folds to expose your clit to the elements. "Pussy?"
"Yes," you swallowed.
"Cunt?" he said as you bucked against him again. He began to swirl a finger in delicate circles around your clit, and you began to burn from the inside out.
"Sparingly," you conceded. He increased his pressure and speed, now assaulting the nub of nerves with a clear intent. This was no longer teasing, this was no longer a quest to make you wet and ready for him… this was the first click of the route to a proper orgasm. “Oh, shit!” you keened, biting your lip as you bowed your head against his chest. You panted a few audible whines as you got used to his ministrations. When you found balance, you lifted your chin to look up at him, only to find yourself off-balanced again. God, the way he looked at you was intoxicating. He was so focused on his task, and so concentrated on reading your every micro-reaction to his touch. He enjoyed it all - he was getting off on how you looked, how you sounded, and he was high on the idea that he was the one making you feel this way.
He licked his lips, and you immediately wanted to kiss them again. But you couldn’t. A microgasm caught hold of your system, and all you could do was ride it out until it relinquished its control. But then another dirty word slipped from his kissable lips…
"Slut?" he asked somewhat cautiously. Truth was, you hadn't ever had that term brought into your sex life vocabulary - but the way it rolled off his fucking tongue, you knew you'd love to hear him say it again.
"Yes," you near whined, as the word and his fingers heightened your pleasure. You clamped your one hand firm around the back of his neck, while the other gripped tightly around his flexing bicep. "Oh... my God," you breathed, letting him know how good he was making you feel.
You were discovering just how much of an artist Jungkook was. Those long, slender fingers of his weren't only adept at painting beautiful pictures, or strumming an electric guitar. They knew exactly how to mold a woman's centre into a motherboard of primal, unrestricted pleasure. He played with your clit, finding just the right places to push, and just the right angles to rub. Then he'd zero in - raise the tempo, deepen the pressure, until your body began to convulse with the onset of an orgasm. Then he'd release you from it all, and palm your pussy with long, calming strokes to bring you back down - until he was ready to attack your senses again, bringing you just a bit higher than the last time.
"Fuck, Jungkook..." you sobbed after the umpteenth rise and fall. "Fuck... I want more.”
You weren’t sure what more it was you wanted - but you just needed more. More of his lips, more of his fingers… more of him… “I want you to fuck me.”
“I am fucking you, Y/N,” he said with a menacing tease. That wasn’t what you meant, and he damn well knew it. So… he was the kind who liked a girl to beg.
“I want you inside me."
Once again, the corner of his mouth pulled in a look of delicious and devious satisfaction - there was something about it that you didn’t trust.
He dipped his hand deep into your panties and in a quick move, he returned his fingers to your entrance; and, in an even quicker moment, he stuffed two of his digits deep inside you - nearly lifting you off his floor with their swiftness and strength.
“Ugh!” you mewled, as the action made you feel heady with vertigo. His fingers flapped rapidly inside you, and every ounce of air you had in your lungs became caught in your throat, as your body began to vibrate in time with his flicks.
"Like this?" he asked arrogantly. "You want me inside you like this?"
It also wasn't what you exactly had in mind, but you certainly weren't complaining.
"Jungg–" your vocal chords restricted and your body heaved against him. He squeezed you closer to him with his free arm around your waist, and brought your faces so close together, you could kiss him deep and fervent if you had the ability to do so. He slipped his fingers down your chamber, then shoved them hard and fast back into you - tapping madly against the now discovered pleasure points inside you.
He let the tip of his nose trace softly over your nose, and his lips brush lightly over your lips as he teased you with a kiss. But a tease was all it was - you didn’t have the power to take it further - not when your body was seizing and sputtering without any control.
"Or you, want something bigger?" he asked, tilting his chin as he peered down his nose at you. “You want my dick?”
"Yes," you managed to sputter out.
“Yeah? You wanna take this cock like a good little slut?”
Holy fuck. Your mind and body reacted immediately, and he knew it all too well. Your pussy muscles immediately constricted around his fingers - clamping down on them so hard that he struggled to jostle them through your chamber.
“Oh, fuck, you like that, eh?” he derided, and you never felt so… corrupt.
“Yes,” you cried out your command. “I want your cock inside me, baby.”
“Hm, baby,” he tested the word out. “I like the sound of that.”
“Fuck me and I’ll call you whatever you want,” you said, surprising both yourself and him with how controlled and demanding your tone was.
“Yes, ma’am,” Jungkook smiled as he withdrew his fingers from you. You immediately jumped into action, stripping yourself of your panties and kicking them aside while Jungkook worked away at his own pants. You were done before he had managed to even undo his belt buckle. You swatted his hands away from the metal, and deftly worked to unfasten it, his button, and his zipper in under four seconds.
You half expected him to laugh and tease you about your urgency, but instead he too was overcome with the need to take you right there. He crushed his lips to yours, roughly pulled your bodies together, and violently kicked his pants off his ankles. Within milliseconds, he had you hoisted onto the dresser, his body nestled between your thighs. At the same time, you both reached down between your bodies, to take a hold of his throbbing, dripping cock.
“Oh, shit,” Jungkook suddenly exclaimed - although not in the sexy way, but in the we-have-a-problem kind of way.
“What?” you looked at him, your voice sounding more annoyed than alarmed. What the fuck could possibly be the problem?
“We didn’t talk about protection and shit.”
“Oh,” you shook your head, now feeling silly and a touch irresponsible. “Yeah, um, okay. What are you comfortable with? I’m on birth control and I got a rapid STD test after I found out about… them.”
“So…” he looked at you cautiously. “You… wanna… bare back it?”
Yes, was your reckless reaction. Frankly, you had a deep and twisted desire to let Jungkook inside you without any barriers. You hadn’t allowed Chris that privilege until you were at least six months into your relationship. It was a sign of intimacy, of trust, and of devotion - things he threw away with no regard. So, the idea of letting Jungkook shift your kidneys with his raw, unguarded cock felt like a stab to Chris… even if you were the only one who knew about it. Regardless, you still had a sensible side, and your sensible side had one more question. “Are you clean?”
“Mm hm,” he nodded. “Saw the Doc last month. Clean bill of health. But I got condoms in my drawer,” he pointed his thumb over his shoulder, and you followed where it led, noticing the bedside table which was maybe five strides across the room.
“It’s too far,” you grinned.
“You’re right,” his nose scrunched as he grinned back.
Although the interruption was minor, it was still enough to slow what had become a chaotic rush to bring yourselves together. Slowed… but not cooled.
Your lips met again, your tongues began to tangle once more - but this time, you were sure to savour it. To savour him… his taste, his tact, the small sounds that rumbled in the back of his throat, and echoing noises of your moving lips and hands.
You broke the kiss when you felt the tip of his cock pushing against your folds. You looked down, wanting to see his dick hard and erect before it disappeared inside you. Jungkook looked down too, and together you admired the scene. He held his member stiff in his hands as he guided the shaft along the length of your pussy, soaking it in your juices. He brought his tip to your clit, circling the bud several times, then tapping it a few times more - making you squirm and jolt with need and longing.
Then finally - fucking finally - he dragged the thick, pulsing head downward, and pressed it over the folds guarding your entrance. You shuffled over the dresser, spreading your legs a bit wider to allow him complete, unrestricted access. You reached downward, covering his cock holding hand with yours, and together you positioned him right where he needed to be - then he began his ascent.
You felt his tip breach past your folds, and watched as the first inch disappeared inside you. Your mouth fell open, as did his - and together you exhaled as he conquered another inch, and then another. The eroticism of it all caused your walls to quiver around him; quivering around him made your pussy tingle with pleasure; and pleasure forced your chamber to clamp down around his cock, unsure if it wanted to suck him into you or push him back out.
“Fuuuuck, Y/N,” Jungkook exhaled a groan. “Fuck, you feel good.”
Your pussy fluttered again, and his cock slipped further into you, meeting resistance, but persevering as he slid his way through you, until finally he was balls deep and bottomed out.
He pressed his forehead against your temple, kissing that sweet spot below your ear. You closed your eyes, enjoying the feeling of his soft lips on your skin, and how it complimented the delicious burn of your insides adjusting to his size. He reveled in the feeling of your silky walls around him, and snaked his hands around your hips to shuffle you and him into perfect alignment.
You began to burn with the need for him to move. You slid your one hand up his neck, then into his hair, pulling his face to yours so you could kiss him once more. You tightened your limbs around his waist, encouraging him in that way as well - but it was your words that inspired him the most.
“Fuck me, Jungkook,” you said as you tugged his head backwards, ensuring he could see how serious you were. His eyes flared with salacious desire, both loving the control and demand you had over him, but also challenged by it.
He drew his hips backwards in one long, slick drag of his cock, then pressed them forward - again, long, slick and filling. He did it again, testing his angles and adjusting himself accordingly, then again, and again… until he found a steady rhythm.
He pumped himself into you, and - God damn - did he ever feel fantastic. The way he moved through you, making you moan as he stuffed you full, and whine as he left you feeling empty. He rocked his hips in smooth, consistent waves - and you keened each time his mound pressed against your sensitive clit.
You dropped both your hands behind you, pressing them into the surface of the dresser and leaning back to let him fuck you deeper and harder. He did, and soon enough the squelch of his cock slipping in and out of you, and the claps of your hips colliding could be heard throughout the house.
“Oh, Jungkook,” you threw your head back, as a microburst of pleasure pulled your limbs tight with electric shock. “Oh, fuck.”
When you were able to look at him again, your heart began to beat with dangerous aggression. You couldn’t get over the way this man saw you, admired you. He bit his lip as he studied your face, and as his eyes drank in and appreciated every about your pleasure flushed body. He thrusted in and out of you, fixated on how your tits bounced, how the flesh of your thighs rippled with each impact, and how your belly restricted and relaxed between pumps. He seemed so damn controlled, like he was hours away from coming, whereas you were mere moments. But then, a deep, long, guttural groan rumbled up from within him, and you keened a high pitched noise at the way it turned you on.
“Ugh,” he exhaled again. “Ugh… uh…” each sound a touch deeper, signaling his rising climax.
“I’m–” you tried to warn him of the orgasm barreling towards you, but the moment you spoke, he grabbed you roughly under your ass - and before you knew it, you found yourself facing the wall, palms pressed into wood, and body bent over the dresser.
“Baby,” you keened as Jungkook re-entered you from behind. He somehow felt thicker, hotter, and longer as his cock once more filled your channel. He fucked into you once in a hard and fast pulse of his hips, and your hands skidded down the surface of the dresser. You then felt his fingers card their way through the hair on the back of your head and, with a light pull, he bent you backwards - making you stare yourself and him down in the mirror before you.
You wanted to call out to fucking God. The image before you was so hot and nasty. You could see clearly his sweat-dampened skin and how it pulled tight over his muscles, which contracted and flexed with each and every buck of his hips.
He began to fuck you mercilessly, and your calls to the heavens became primal roars for release. He was so thick and hot inside you. So rough and ruthless. He was no longer breaking the ice – he was breaking you apart.
Your eyes threatened to roll back in your skull, but you wanted so badly to see the images presented before you. You wished Chris could see this image. You wished Stephanie could see it too.
You didn’t know why… but that thought made you hornier than hell. You felt a fresh wave of arousal drip between your thighs and soak Jungkook’s dick. The thought of them watching you get fucked by this man. The way their faces would twist in jealousy and regret. The way Jungkook would threaten Chris with a possessive stare, and taunt Stephanie with the knowledge that you possessed him.
You reached between your legs, and began circling your clit with your fingers - wanting to capitalize on the feeling of Jungkook’s cock and the mess of your debasing thoughts. But he was having none of it…
He scooped an arm around your waist, and in another quick moment, you were off the dresser and weighted against his hard body. He grabbed a hold of your one tit in his palm, kneading and twisting your nipple with his fingers, while his other hand dipped down to replace your fingers which were pleasuring yourself. He wanted to be the one to make you come, all on his own.
You bent your neck backwards and over his shoulder, reaching behind his neck to cling again to the hair at his nape - needing something to tether you to the earth. He nibbled on your ear, bit into your shoulder, pinched your nipple, rubbed your clit, all while continuing to fuck you into oblivion.
You didn’t have a chance to warn him you were about to come - then again, it seemed as if he didn’t have a warning of his own. The moment his deep voice shot high in his throat and started to come out in short, pitched moans, was the moment you began to tumble off the edge.
“Ohhh!,” your orgasm squealed into the room, and your muscles pulled tight, bending your spine and curving your body into his. Your vision went dark, then burst with millions of technicoloured stars. Your hearing muffled, and you lost the ability to breathe. A pure, radiant tingle sparkled through your every vein, like your blood had been replaced with warm, bubbling champagne.
You felt Jungkook’s body begin to convulse against you, as his hand motions and waving hips became sloppy and erratic. He was coming too, and his hot, whining breaths on your shoulder ended in a heavy roar as he crescendoed, and long spurts of cum were released inside you.
You both fell forward - your hands finding the wood surface of the dresser again, and Jungkook finding your shaking and fragile body a sufficient place to rest his head.
You panted yourself out of the stars and back into reality, and Jungkook did the same. His hands were around the hollows of your hips, like he was holding you there, unwilling to let you move. You felt his lips then press warm over your spine, as he took a few moments to appreciate the taste of your post-coital skin.
“What’s this,” you heard his disheveled voice behind you, then you felt a heavy finger trace the small of your back - and you realized what he was referring to.
“That’s my tramp stamp,” you announced, laughing at the 16 year old that shamed you with the decision. “I don’t really like it.”
It was a fucking dolphin. Not a dolphin fucking, just a stupid dolphin you had zero attachment to. There were other reasons you didn’t like it - Stephanie was with you when you got your tattoo. She got one herself. They weren’t friendship tattoos or anything, but the memory of getting them together made it feel like it tethered her to you. You had big fish to fry these past few days, but now that you thought about it, it might be a good time to have it removed.
“It’s sexy. I love a good tramp stamp.”
“Thanks,” you said, as you moved to press yourself off the dresser. Jungkook pulled himself out of you, then guided you to turn around so he could hold you sweetly in his arms. “She was with me when I got it,” you gave him a comical shrug.
“Ah,” he nodded, understanding now. “I can cover it for you.”
“Right,” you mused, remembering that “Tattooist” was one of his alleged work-for-pennies jobs.
“I mean… maybe not right now. It's not a lot of fun fucking right after a back tattoo. The rubbing and all,” he winked. You chuckled.
“Okay, well… thanks. I’ll keep it in mind.”
Jungkook stretched his arms a little further around you, pulling you tight against him. You wrapped your arms around him as well, and you pulled yourselves together for a sweet, but simple post-sex ceremonial kiss. When the kiss broke, he still held you there, smoothing his palm softly over the length of your back.
“So, what do you wanna do now?” he asked. “You hungry?”
“Um,” you looked around the room as you thought for a moment, unsure what you were supposed to do. With Chris, you’d either cuddle up in bed, or you’d run off to do something written in your day planner. But being up here, in Jungkook’s house, it was like you were trapped in a vacation. You didn’t have any commitments or responsibilities or expectations. You could just… be…
You looked up at him when you had an answer. “Do you think I could take a shower? I was in the car all night and all.”
“Sure,” he nodded. “You want company?”
You bit your lip to suppress your grin. You might like company… just not right now. “Honestly, I wouldn’t mind a few moments to myself… if that’s okay.”
“Of course it’s okay. I’ll get you a towel.”
With that, he took you by the hand, and he walked you across his bedroom and towards a partially opened door. You hadn’t really noticed it before, but it was fair to assume it led to an ensuite bathroom. A luxury cabin like this had to have an ensuite bathroom.
You were close… the door led to a bathroom, but it first took you through a stupidly large walk-in closet.
“Oh my God,” you shrieked like a fanboy seeing his celebrity crush for the first time, and Jungkook snorted at your reaction.
“I didn’t know you had such a hard on for closet space,” he teased. "I'll fuck you in here if you'd like."
“Shut up, you don’t understand,” you slapped him gently with the back of your hand. He really didn’t understand. The closet was basically barren. He only used one measly section, and it was essentially nothing but t-shirts, sweat-shirts and jeans. He also didn’t understand because your house back home didn’t actually have any closets at all. It was a stupid oversight from the 20th century designer who built it, and it’s subsequent owners who did bare minimum reparations to it.
Jungkook gave your hand a tug, and you let him guide your drooling self through the closet and into the ensuite, where once again you gasped.
A tub.
A bathtub.
A real bathtub.
It was everything you looked for in a tub. It was long, and wide, and deep (like a great dick,) had jets, and no shower head was above it. You could easily soak in it and submerge your tits and knees under the water at the same time… and wasn’t that the dream?
It was also just incredibly romantic: flanked by riverstone tile, and installed next to a breezy window with soft views of a garden outside. You could instantly imagine yourself in it, surrounded by candles and bubbles, sipping a glass of wine as you enjoyed the warm breeze wafting into the space with the sounds of the forest. You could imagine Jungkook in there too - sitting at the other end of the tub, or perhaps you would be resting against his chest.
You shook the thought away. It was a nice fantasy, and if you were lucky, one you could explore… later. For now, you two had only fucked once, and this was a fucking arrangement. You didn’t need to start adding intimacy to the mix.
“You can use it if you want,” Jungkook shook you from your imagination. “I never do.”
“You don’t deserve this house, Jungkook,” you ridiculed him. “Unused walk-in closet, unused bathtub. Tsk.”
“Well,” he scooped you against him again, and you wrapped your arms around him... again. This act was beginning to feel as natural as it did with Chris. “Maybe you can show me how to live in it right.”
“Maybe,” you winked.
“Go ahead. Take a bath. Enjoy it.”
“No,” you sighed. “I’m afraid I’ll fall asleep in there and drown. I think I’m starting to feel the effects of my all-nighter.”
It was true. After your climax, you thought your muscles were feeling tired and drained from sex. But as the minutes passed since, you recognized that you were indeed just tired.
“Well, why don’t after you shower you take a nap? I’ll go make myself busy.”
“No, I don’t want…” you trailed off. It felt strange to kick Jungkook out of his own room when you had asked so much of him. “I don’t wanna sleep all afternoon and then be up all night.”
Jungkook’s gaze darken into something sadistic, and you were sure you could hear his thoughts. “I thought the plan was to be up all night, Y/N,” he said. Your nether regions agreed with him. “Do it. You’ll feel better.”
“Okay,” you nodded reluctantly. “Don’t let me sleep too long.”
“I won’t,” he promised with a final kiss before he let you go, then rummaged the cupboard for a towel.
You weren’t sure how long you had showered, but the water had felt so good over your skin and muscles that you just couldn’t pull yourself out of there. You were afraid you had nearly drained his tank. When you returned to his room, you discovered Jungkook’s windows had electric blinds, and that Jungkook had darkened the room for you. You also found an oversized t-shirt sprawled across his bed. It was a shirt from his band’s tour three years ago, and it was obvious he had laid it out for you to wear as pajamas. You took it in your hands, and brought it to your face, taking in a deep sniff of its scent. It smelt like him, like the soap you had just used in his shower. You were a touched pleased it didn’t smell like some other girl - although you wouldn’t be surprised if this shirt hadn’t already been worn by a groupie or two.
You pulled it on, then crawled under the sheets, groaning and stretching as your body recognized it was time to power down. You curled your body around a pillow, and within moments, you were fast asleep.

the taste of salt [part 2 of 3]
Miguel x female reader
Summary: Miguel want's you to be part of the spicer society. He's even inviting you for dinner to convince you.
Tags: mutual pining, eventual romance, eventual smut
smut will follow in the last chapter.
Your feet carried you through the streets of New York. After university you’d took a shower, jumped into clean clothes and refreshed your make-up. You were walking slowly, not too rushed, even though it was already five minutes past six. But you wanted to appear calm and collected. There was no reason to be nervous, you only were going to have dinner with him. To talk about business.
Right?
Nothing more.
If he showed up in the first place. To be honest, you could hardly imagine him being serious about today. That he would actually spend some of his very limited free time with you. He wouldn’t actually do that.
Right?
Well, he proved you wrong. Even in the darkness you recognised him immediately by his ruffled hair and broad shoulders. He was leaning on a wall, his back turned to you. People glanced at him while they walked past, especially young women.
Did your stomach drop or your heart sink? You stopped walking, seriously considering chickening out, but he already turned around, looking right into your eyes. However he knew you where here, since you learned he didn’t have a spider sense.
After taking another deep breath, you covered the remaining distance beween you and him.
»Sorry for the delay, but here I am.« You had to tilt back your head to make eye contact with him.
He looked at you without saying anything, just as he did when you first met. As if he wasn’t sure what to make of you. But then the corner of his mouth tugged into the tiniest of smile. »I see you decided to join me.«
That made you laugh. »I see you actually showed up.«
His eyebrow raised. »Even on time.« He then pushed himself off the wall and started walking.
»… touché.« You followed him. »Where now?«
»You’ve got your watch, right?« Without answering your question he turned into an dark alley.
»Sure …« Standing with him in the darkness felt strange. But he grabbed you by the wrist, leaving you no time to think about it further.
All you managed was a brief glimpse of the portal, before you found yourself back in another city, in another dimension, just seconds later. »Ugh.« With your free hand, you braced yourself against the next wall, feeling dizzy. »I’ll never get used to this.«
He was still holding on to your other wrist. »Maybe you should practice more. It’ll fade after a few times.« His hand was warm. »Everything alright so far?«
Slowly, you moved away from him. »I’m good. Thanks …« You looked around to avoid looking in his direction and realised that he brought you to Nueva York. His home.
On your last visit you barely had any time to take a look at the city. The level of sophistication was a little … overwhelming. The architecture in particular, how the cars traveled upwards to the sky. Plenty of films had tried to depict the future with their own visions, but reality was … better. More beautiful. Cleaner. Captivating.
»Well, shall we?« His voice snapped you out of it. He stood there, hands in his pockets. His gaze was insrutable. But he looked at you.
»Right. Let’s go. Where … where are we going actually?« You asked again.
»You said you’re hungry. I know a place.«
He led the way and you followed him, still looking around eagerly. Miguel stopped at a parking space, right in front of one of the cars. It looked a lot like the most modern cars in your own world, only... yeah, even more advanced. You stared at it, as he kindly opened the door for you.
»Hop in.«
Kind of nice of him. Couteous.
»Wow.« You were amazed by how unrestricted you could stretch your legs. Even Miguel’s impressive stature was effortlessly accomodated here. Your eyes took in the modern interior, the many displays and buttons. Pressing some of them seemed so tempting, just to see what would happen, but you kept your fingers to yourself, looking at him instead.
»This car is as big as my bedroom. A size smaller would have done just fine.« You said jokingly.
He smirked. »It’s actually the smaller model. I wanted something inconspicious.« Now you snorted with laughter. That was too absurd to not be funny. »Why are we driving anyway? We could just swing our way to our destination.«
He started the car without turning any keys or pressig any buttons. He simply sat down and the vehicle seemed to identify him as the owner. »Thats right, but … I thought it would be a good opportunity to inaugurate it.«
»Wait, you never took it for a ride before?«
He looked at you sideways. »Well … actually not.«
That made you laugh even harder, and you were glad, because it took the awkwardness out of the situation, since he couldn’t help but to chuckle as well.
The car moved so smoothly, you didn’t hear a sound of the engine. There was silence for a moment. You watched colorful city lights passing by, but also took the chance to sneakily observe him.
He looked different today and it took you a hot minute to realise it was because of his clothes. Not his spider suit he used to wear when he visited you, trying to recruit you, sometimes hidden under a hoodie to avoid any attention. No, today he was wearing a white long sleeve shirt and slim-fit chinos. Casual clothing, but obvisouly high quality. He didn’t use cologne, but you sensed the odor of fresh laundry. Soap. Suddenly you understood why people were staring at him. He looked …
»Just say it.« His expression suggested that you hadn’t been so sneaky after all.
»Huh? What should I say?«
»Come on. You know what I’m talking about.«
Your face turned red, you felt it. »I have no idea.«
A sigh, while he was pinching his nose. »I look stupid in these pants, don’t I?«
»Uhm...« You shrugged your shoulders, a little surprised. Your cheeks were still burning. »No, you don’t look stupid. Rather unusual I guess. I mean, most of the time you’re in your combat suit, right?«
He looked down at himself. »Yes. To be honest, it feels strange not wearing it. Haven’t seen myself in casual clothing for a long time.«
»I think I know what you mean. But theoretically you could get into it at the push of a button, right?«
»If necessary, yes.«
Somehow you hoped it wouldn't be necessary today, but you kept it to yourself. Time to change the subject. »I'm really curious about that restaurant.«
»Still hungry?«
»I'm always hungry, actually.«
»Oh, you're one of those.« He smiled mischievously. »Just like me.«
He was a pretty good driver, easily weaving his way through the heavy traffic of Nueva York. It maybe took five minutes to reach your destination, but not without travelling on a road, that led vertically upwards. You couldn’t deny that you were enjoying yourself.
When you got out and looked around, your breath actually caught in your throat. What were you expecting, a burger joint? Well.
You could tell it was a high-end restaurant even from outside.
Suddenly you were nervous again.
»I’m afraid,« You began, scratching the back of your neck »I’m not properly dressed.«
»Dont worry, you look fine.«
He led you to the restaurant, his hand hovering at your back without touching you. Still, his gesture signaled that you belonged together. Your eyes were glued to the huge tree in the foyer, which stretched across the two floors of the restaurant.
Miguel didn’t even have to say his name at reception. The host took one look at him and immediately assigned you a table, apparently the last one that wasn’t occupied. You took a seat, still a little nervous.
»So ... how long is the waiting list for a table here?«
He also sat down. »Good question. I never make reservations.«
His answer made you smile. You weren’t surprised that Miguel O’Hara didn’t need a reservation. With his prestige and wealth he enjoyed the privilege to be admitted everywhere at any time. Good for him though. After all, he sacrificed a lot, not just for this city, but for ... the whole universe, as strange as that sounded.
While waiting for the menus, you looked around, taking in the interior of the restaurant. There was something exotic about the combination of clean design and natural elements, perfectly complemented by the warm lighting. It was a cozy place, yet ultra-modern and exquisite. Fascinating.
The menus arrived. You opened them and raised your brows. »Hm. Smart move to invite me to a restaurant where the menu is entirely in Spanish.«
He didn’t even look up from his own menu, but there was a hint of a smile on his face, ever so slightly. »Oh right, my apologies. Hadn’t thought of that. Would you like me to recommend something?«
You were convinced that he hadn't 'not thought of that'. It was all part of the game you played and he knew exactly what he was doing. Yet somehow you enjoyed it, so you went along. »Okay, be so kind.« Your voice was more playful than you intented. »Recommend something.«
Miguel replied without thinking twice. »They offer a lot of fancy dishes here, but personally I’d go for number 16.«
»Number 16...« You took another look at the menu. At least you could understand the numbers, although there was another word you recognized. »Oh, ist that... paella?«
»Exactly. A classic.«
An interesting suggestion. »I’ve never had paella before.«
Now he lifted his head and looked at you. »You’re in for a treat then. It may be a simple dish, but very exquisite.«
»Sounds good to me. I’m not in the mood for experiments anyway.« This whole situation was an experiment in itself and you didn’t want to make things even more difficult for you by ordering an exotic dish just to impress him.
The waiter arrived again, taking back the menus. Miguel placed the order in Spanish and you couldn’t help but listening to his voice. The warm timbre and the way the R rolled over his tongue.
What a sexy language.
You shook your head briefly to dispel the thought. He was really good at this game, you had to give him that.
»I ordered an 'Albariño' to match.«
You had to guess what it was. »...wine?«
He nodded, not taking his eyes off you. »Don’t you drink?«
»I do, but only on rare occasions.«
»I see. I bet you’ll like it. Albariño is light and fresh, so it does not mask the delicate flavour of the paella. Its high acidity also balances the oily texture of the dish.«
You stared at him, almost taken by surprise, before you started to laugh, a hand covering your mouth. »I’m totally sorry.« Far be it from you to be rude or even mock him, but you didn't expect him to give a lecture like that. He never had spoken so many words in one sentence before. »But you almost sound like an encyclopaedia. Did you memorise that to impress me?«
He tilted his head, blinking, before his eyes narrowed. »I just know about stuff I guess.« His voice had a defensive undertone, as if he felt like he’d been called out.
»I see.« You winked at him, clearly teasing him a little. »I’m still impressed though.«
Oops. Mentally, you slapped your forehead with the palm of your hand. How could you spill the beans like that? But it seemed to have an effect at least, because Miguel’s tensed shoulders relaxed again.
To your relief drinks arrived at that moment. Wine was poured with gusto and two extra glasses of warter were provided as well. You toasted in silence before you both took a sip. As he put the glass down, he continued to look at you intently.
»Verdict?«
The glass was still close to your lips as you let the taste sink in before nodding affirmatively. »A pretty good wine, as far as I can tell.«
He seemed satisfied. »Make sure to try it again with the paella.«
»I intend to. After all, I have to check what's behind your recommendation.«
Leaning back, you surveyed your surroundings once more. Too bad there was no place like this in your world. The way how design and ambience worked together, it was almost magical. And you still couldn't get over that huge, beautiful tree. Its lights reflected in Miguel's eyes. Only now did you notice that he was watching you as he continued to enjoy the wine. »Is there something on your mind?«
»Indeed. It’s amazing to still see human waiters and waitresses in future restaurants. I mean, even in my world, you can order food at McDonald's with the touch of a button by now.«
He laughed. »McDonalds...« The look on his face revealed that he was not a fan of this type of food. »You’re not wrong though. Most restaurants don’t have human servers anymore, only in selected establishments, usually for the upper class. Being served still feels ... romantic for many people.«
Again, he looked you in the eyes, his gaze almost playful now. »Sometimes it’s beneficial. If you know what I mean.«
Just as you wanted to answer, another waitress approached your table. Apparently out of the blue, according to Miguels puzzled face, as she served him a small plate with two empanadas on it. It wasn’t even the same waiter from before, but a lady with elegantly styled hair and high, clacking heels. That sort of shoes you could probably never walk in, superpowers or not.
»A little treat from the house.« Her voice was pure velvet.
Miguel just blinked. »Thanks?«
The lady disappeared again, her hips swinging. You giggled to yourself. »Everyone seems to know you are into empanadas.«
»Hm.« He just raised his shoulders, but couldn’t resist fishing an empanada of the plate. »Rumors are spreading. And they seem to hope for a good tip.« He pushed the plate towards you, wordlessly offering you the other one.
In your opinion, the lady was hoping for something entirely different. But Miguel didn’t even glanced at her, even though she was quite attractive. Heat crawled under your skin at that realisation.
You picked up the other empanada, too tempted - and hungry - to ignore it. As you took a bite you couldn’t suppress a silent sigh. The crust was incredibly buttery and flaky, the tender filling melting in your mouth. »Wow. Well, this definately beats McDonalds.«
He nodded affitmatively. »Yeah. Same with the ones from my cafeteria.«
»I never had those, so I don’t know.« You leaned back, wine glass on your lips again.
»As I said, you should visit more often.« He winked at you. Little wrinkles formed in the corners of his eyes as he smiled.
The heat kept crawling into your cheeks. You shifted your position on the chair, before taking another sip of wine. »Maybe I’ll do.«
At that moment the food arrived. They really didn’t want to keep anyone waiting here and you appreciated that.
The waiter proudly presented a huge pan, which contained their meal. Miguel nodded approvingly.
»Parece delicioso.«
With a bow of his head the waiter started to place the dish on two plates. A delicious aroma wafted over to you as you watched the procedere with fascination. When you were alone again, you looked at Miguel, kind of confused.
»Is this form of serving normal?«
He on the other hand didn’t seem the least bit surprised about it all. »Yes. An old tradition. You compliment the dish to show appreciation.«
Your upper lip curled. He really didn’t leave abything to chance today and that felt good, because it made you feel special. That he did that maybe to make a real impression on you. »Thats ... wholesome, actually.«
He poured you more wine before making an inviting gesture towards your plate. »Dig in. Before it get’s cold.«
You started to eat, hesistantly at fist but your shyness vanished in an instant. »Oh my gosh ...!« Your eyes closed and you paused for a moment to savour the taste. With each bite, the rich and savoury flavour of the rice filled your mouth, the vegetables provided a crisp contrast and together they created an almost sinfully decadent symphony. It was so good, you couldn't help but sigh as you licked your thumb clean without even realising it.
He really hadn’t promised too much and you could almost feel his smug grin, but when you raised your head you were proven wrong. He was sitting there, fork in hand, not moving at all. There was no smile on his face.
He was staring at you.
At your lips.
»Oh, I-,« you cleared your throat. How rude of you. »I couldn’t keep it together for a moment, I’m sor-«
He interrupted you by raising his hand and pointing to your glass. »Don’t apologize.« His voice was ten shades darker all of a sudden. »Taste the wine with it.« Oh yes, he seemed eager for you to try it together.
So you did and ... »Wow, I didn’t think it could get any better.«
Now he started to finally eat as well, after seemilngly waiting for your reaction. You wondered if you had reacted the way he intented. He seemed pleased, as far as you could tell. »I’m glad you like it. Told you you’d be thrilled.«
»I don't think I've ever been as satisfied as I am right now.«
»Oh, is that so?« It was only when he asked that you realised how indecent your words could be interpreted.
»Gosh.« You desperately tried to hide your red face behind your hand.
He just chuckled, a hum from the depths of his chest. He managed to tease you without saying a word, his eyes shimmering with intelligence and amusement. You couldn't even be angry with him as you took another sip of wine.
It was pretty warm in here.
For a moment, you devoted your full attention to the food in front of you, which got better with every bite. Every now and then you closed your eyes in pleasure, but Miguel would not hear another sigh like the one before. You denied him that victory.
He was silent too, but not in an awkward way. For the first time you didn’t feel the urge to bridge unpleasant silence with stupid phrases. It was pretty relaxed. How refreshing.
If only your spider sense didn't keep activating. Eventually, you could no longer ignore it. Lifting your head, you quickly recognised the cause, as some faces quickly turned away from you.
You lowered your fork, searching for Miguel’s gaze. »Have you noticed?« you asked, lowering your voice.
»What do you mean?« Unconsciously, he leaned forward so he could hear you properly. You caught his scent again.
»People are watching us. Is that normal? You are quite the famous person here, aren’t you?«
He smiled with composure, as if none of this was news to him and it probably wasn’t. You could hardly imagine his actions going unnoticed in this city.
His eyes wandered briefly around the vast space of the restaurant before they came back to rest on you. »They do. But to me it seems they’re mostly looking at you.«
You tilted your head in confusion. »Why would they do that?« »Well«, this time it was his turn to lower his voice and for you to lean closer. His smile turned gentle. »they’re wondering who you are. And why you’re here. With me.«
You blinked, in fact wondering about that as well. After all, he had brought you here to talk about work. But not a single word has been said about it until now, rather the contrary. You had mainly talked about personal things that had nothing to do with business and completely ignored the fact that he was actually trying to convince you to become a member of the Spider Society. Your mouth went dry.
What did that mean?
Did it mean anything at all?
»Uh, is that so unusual?« You tried not to let your racing thoughts show.
His brow raised, as if it was obvious to him. »People love gossip. And they wonder, ...« His voice dropped even lower. »... if we are on a date. Wouldn’t that be interesting?«
With a jerk you went back into a straight position, your eyes wide open. When you reached for your glass of wine, your hands were sweaty. »Absurd thought, isn’t it.«
»No.« was his simple reply and never before had a single word such an effect on you.
You quickly took a deep sip of wine and washed the whole glass of water down with it. Had they turned up the heating or why were you so unbelievably warm?
»Hey. Don’t let it stress you out.«
Wow, great. You couldn't hide how nervous you suddenly were. But he wasn't teasing you. He had leaned back too, his hand still resting on the centre of the table where it had almost touched yours.
You poured yourself more wine, far more than was polite, but you needed that now.
Did you want this to be a date?
As if someone had heard your silent cries for help, the waiter arrived just at the right moment.
»I hope you are satisfied with everything. May I offer something else? Dessert maybe?«
The waiter looked at you, but it was Miguel who answered. »San Sebastians Cheesecake.«
»An excellent choice. I’d recommend you to enjoy it at our outdoor area. The view is outstanding.«
You said nothing, but Miguel nodded. »Thank you, we will do. Please send the bill as well.«
Fresh air seemed to be a very good idea actually. But first you had to pay for your meal. Als the waiter disappeared you dug your wallet out of your bag. Just as you were about to pull out some money, Miguel grabbed your wrist again.
»Please.« You looked at his hands, then into his eyes. There was no trace of arrogance in them. His gaze was ... gentle. As warm as his touch. »Let me handle this. It was an invitation, after all.«
Was it? It was you who had suggested it in the first place. Still, you nodded. He seemed eager and you didn’t want to spoil the mood any further.
He let go of you, still smiling. »What if you go ahead upstairs? I’ll be right up.«
You returned his smile. »Alright.«
You would have preferred to just swing your way up by using your webs, but people were still watching you and you didn’t want to make things worse. So you took the staircase while Miguel took care of the bill.
The restaurant was one of the highest points in the city and the view was breathtaking indeed. Nueva York was beautiful, in a scientific way. But in the darkness of the night, it’s lights shone in the brightest colors. They danced through the sky, a sea of gentle waves. Nobody was up here, you were alone. You put the empty wine glass down on one of the tables.
A warm summer breeze fluffed up your hair als you leaned against the balustrate, taking a deep breath.
Was this what a business dinner looked like?
Probably not.
You no longer knew whether this was really just a game.
»Hey.«
You turned around, hearing his voice. He was standing there, holding a plate with an elaborately arranged piece of cheesecake. »You good?«
»Yes.« You turned around again, letting your eyes wander over the panorama of the city. You heard him put the plate on the table where you had put your glass before.
Nobody was up here.
Just you, him and the nervous tingling in your stomach.
He didn’t move, maybe sensing you being on edge for whatever reason. You didn't want to let him win.
Even though he had already won.
»It’s ... really nice here.« At least your voice didn’t tremble. Good. »Do you come here often?«
You couldn’t avoid his gaze forever, so you turned back to him.
He shook his head, before he approached you and leaned against the balustrate next to you. The moment was silent while he also took in the view. »No. I’m usually too busy.«
»Yeah. Saving the multiverse and what not, right?« You watched him carefully. Although he still had circles under his eyes, he seemed pretty relaxed today. No grinding jaws, no furrow between his brows. As if he did not have this heavy responsibility weighing on his shoulders.
»It’s exhausting, isn’t it?« You asked.
He was silent again, seemingly brooding. »Yeah. But I know I have to do it. I’ve given up too much to stop now.« You shivered while hearing his words. He turned his head back to you and again you could see the tiny wrinkles around his eyes as he smiled. »The break is welcome, however.«
Just now you noticed that Lyla hadn’t checked with him once this evening. Usually she appeared above his shoulder every now and then, to keep him updated and informed about new anomalies.
Was this what a business dinner looked like?
You had so many questions, but only one made its way over your lips. »But I thought thats why we’re here. To talk about work.«
He chuckled again. »The gawkers down there already talked enough about us. The fact that I’ve been seen with somebody will spread like wildfire.«
Apparently he really never went out, espacially not with a woman. Your heart was pounding in your throat, but you kept your cool. »Aren’t you worried that this will ... I don’t know, damage your reputation or something?«
Now the furrow did appear between his brows. »Why should I be afraid of anything like that?«
»I don’t know.«
»Listen.« Now he turned his full body towards you. »You sound surprised, even though you shouldn’t. You seem to underrestimate your abilities. And yourself.«
»How would you know that?«
He pinched his nose, but he didn’t seem annoyed. Rather ... unsure of himself. »Okay, this is going to sound weird, but I’ve been watching you.«
»Huh?« »I know! Listen, please. I have insight to all universes and I’ve been following your activities ever since I found out about Spider-Woman’s existence on your world. Your skills and your commitment to protecting others are very impressive.«
You couldn’t stop a deep blush creeping into your cheeks again. Of all the things you have expected, this wasn’t one of them. After all you were just doing your job. »I, uhm ... thank you. But I just do what needs to be done.«
»Perhaps. But your ability to strike fear into the hearts of your enemies and at the same time give hope to those you protect is remarkable.«
»I-« you didn’t have the words. You’d never thought of it like that before. »That’s the reason you want me to be part of the Spider Society, isn’t it?«
»I’m not just interested in your powers, I’m interested in you as a person.« His eyes widened as he finished his sentence, apparently this thought was not meant for your ears. He rubbed the bridge of his nose again, looking kind of defeated. »Okay, I said it. And I can’t take it back.«
You just stared at him. »Why...? I don’t understand.«
What a surprising turn of events.
He inhaled and exhaled quickly. »Because ... Because it wasn't just during the rescue missions that I was watching you.«
The realisation struck you like a truck. Suddenly everything made sense. How he always seemed to know when you took your lunch break. Or why he texed as soon as you picked up your smartphone. He had actually been watching you, not just in your imagination.
Cold sweat broke out of your forehead as soon as you realized the whole meaning behind that knowledge. What else he might have seen. Your little secrets, that no one else knew about.
Days you spent alone in your flat, crying. Days passing without you speaking to anyone. No one who came visiting you. No phone calls. Just messages. Messages from him.
And the smile in your face when he got in touch.
The way your hands wandered over your sensitive spots when you thought of him in the darkness of your bedroom.
The idea of clinging to his strong arms, while he thrusted into you relentlessly.
Did he hear you moan his name?
Oh god.
You tried to pull yourself together, but the thought of him watching you inevitably made your core clenching around nothing.
But he continued to speak, seemingly oblivious to your racing thoughts. »I know I sound like a total creep, but I never violated your privacy. Once you stepped into your appartment, I left you alone.« There was vindication in his voice.
He didn’t want you to think badly of him.
You didn’t. Most of all you were curious now. »But why did you watch me all the time?«
He ran his hand through his hair, ruffling it even more. »Because I wanted to know why you wouldn’t join my cause. It was the first time someone declined and ... I’m not used to it. Neither to beg.«
»But you did beg me.« Your eyes caught each other and you could see his tiredness in them. The same tiredness you saw every time you looked in the mirror. »Why?«
»Because I enjoy our little game. And I know you do as well.«
You felt like missing a step. Your stomach jumped. You turned away so he couldn’t see the expression on your face. »I don’t know what to say.«
A few seconds passed. Silence reigned, only interrupted by the hustle and bustle of the city below you. Finally, you felt him approach you, placing one hand on your shoulder. Oh, how warm it was. »You don’t have to say anything. I just want you to know that I see you. The real you. Because I know what it’s like to be alone.«
Lost in your own thoughts, you didn’t answer. Tears were dwelling up your eyes. He was right. You were lonely. Turning a blind eye to this did not change anything.
What would happen if you decided to join the Spider Society?
Sure, you’d meet new people. You would probably make friends.
But your little game would inevitably end and so would his messages and spontaneous visits.
»I know what you’re thinking.« He was close enough for his chest to touch your back, sending shivers down your spine. »You think if you join the Spider Society, I'll lose interest in you.«
You exhaled, breath trembling. Were you an open book, easy for him to read? Or was there much more empathy lurking beneath his stoic façade than he was allowing anyone to see?
»I won’t. Unless you want me to stop.« He whispered in your ear, his voice low and husky, as if he was fighting himself. Now both hands were on your shoulders, moving slowly up and down your arms. »I’m just too drawn to you.«
With a jerk, you turned around and raised your head to look at him. You wanted to cry, but also not. Your chest was burning from the inside. »Maybe the gawkers are right.«
He tilted his head, a little taken aback at the sudden change of your bahavior. »Right about what?«
You made a leap to sit on the balustrate, now almost at eye level with him and a hundred yards of nothingness behind and underneath you. »Maybe it was a date after all.«
His eyes softened, as he came even closer, supporting himself with both arms left and right of you. His forehead made contact with yours and his warm breath met your lips. You could feel his heart beating wildly. Or was it your own?
His hand found its way to your cheek and you nuzzled into it, finally giving in to your desire to be touched by him. His lips brushed against yours.
When you opened your eyes again, your gaze was playful. A silent challenge spoke out of them. »I’m not going to let you win that easily.«
He just looked at you, his eyes clouded with desire, but also a little confused.
»Is that so?« He asked, in the same teasing way as before.
Without warning you pushed him away with the help of your spider powers. Not much force, just enough to break the contact between you two.
»Catch me.«
»Hey!« His eyes widened and he called out your name as you let yourself fall into the dancing city lights. You eyes lit with teasing mirth.
Without thinking twice, he followed in your wake.

“Fuck,” Este cursed, as a loud sound in the flat below hers caused her to spill a drop of tea on her pants. She quickly wiped it away and got up to grab her beloved Tide pen—drawing on the spot to prevent any staining.
With a film on the TV, it was a quiet morning and a relaxing day off for her. She stayed in comfy clothes, hair tucked away messily in a clip, not worrying about work or bills needing to be paid or how desperately her room needed tidying. Her body had been stationary for most of the morning. It was a deserved laziness, in her opinion. But, a buzz from her phone signalled an incoming text, interrupting her and her tea once more.

Thinking of you x
It was a photo of a small yellow origami star. He held it delicately between his thumb and middle finger, raising it up in the air in front of his hotel window. Este could see the architecture of the city he stayed in in the background. Germany, I think, she considered, though she couldn’t remember which city.

Hey, I know it’s been hard lately and that you’ve been busy writing but this poem makes me happy and I think you need some hope at the moment
Attachment: 1 Image
Maybe you’ve heard of it already or will think it’s too simple but it's what I want to say to u :)
Matty’s heavy eyes stared at the bright blue light of his screen. The band were closing out on their sixth month of touring, and his head had gotten a bit cloudy. Desperate to get Notes On A Conditional Form out as soon as possible, any free moments they had were spent writing and recording. He poured so much of himself during every show and even more into every song written that not much was left when he was on his own. It was nonstop. Slumps like this were bound to occur while on the road, and now that Matty had healthier ways of coping with them, they weren’t as big of a deal. But they were still there, eating away at his energy—blurring the lines of his self esteem and self hatred.
The poem Este attached was “The Orange” by Wendy Cope. He hadn’t heard of it before. So, he read the words quietly to himself.
“At lunchtime I bought a huge orange—the size of it made us all laugh. I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave—they got quarters and I had a half.
And that orange, it made me so happy, as ordinary things often do. Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park. This is peace and contentment. It's new.
The rest of the day was quite easy. I did all the jobs on my list and enjoyed them and had some time over. I love you. I'm glad I exist.”
Este was right about it being simple. But it was its simplicity that made Matty feel it deeply in his stomach. If he’d been sent such words by any other person in the world, it might have felt patronising—but coming from her, it made sense. There wasn’t anything that he loved more than things, art, that commanded him how to feel. Este knew that. And the words she sent commanded him to find light in the simple things. To bask in the innocence of life. To realise that if he isn’t happy, he’s just human. Fleeting moments of beauty are what matter. It was exactly what he needed to hear.

--- 1 July, 2019
Luckily, flying from Stockholm back to Manchester wasn’t very far. So, it was easy for Matty to get on a plane to catch Este’s 28th birthday between his shows. He was a day early, but it was the only chance he had to come see her—so he took it. And somehow managed to keep it a surprise.
With Cate’s help, Matty followed through with his plan to Uber to their flat as soon as he landed; to drop off his stuff, grab food, and set up birthday decorations before walking over to Greenhouse to see Este. A bouquet of variously coloured tulips with brown paper surrounding it was cradled in his arms as he made his way. The sun peeked through the partly cloudy sky, beaming down on his tired state. He shook the nerves out and reached for the door handle.
The familiar chime caught him by surprise, as the seven months it had been since he’d last stepped into the shop forced him to forget that they were there. It brought Este’s attention to the front from her spot in the back corner where she was shelving. Sam poked his head out from the back room in curiosity.
“I heard an ‘Este Manansala’ turns 28 tomorrow…” Matty announced sarcastically before she realised who he was. The look on her face once she did was priceless.
“Oh my god. Shut up,” muttered Este as she weaved through the cramped furniture to embrace him excitedly. A giddy and uncontrollably happy laugh came from her belly had Matty leaned back while they hugged to lift her feet off the orange carpet.
“Happy Birthday, love.” he whispered in her ear before putting her down. Este tried to wipe the dumb smile on her face but failed. She kissed him instead.
Matty tasted like cigarette smoke and smelt of the flowers he held. The month between their last kiss didn’t stop her from recognizing the familiar shape of his lips when they were against hers. It lingered long and deep. They sighed into each other with satisfaction.
“What are you doing here? You’re mad,” reacted Este when they pulled away.
“To take you out on your birthday.” His hand remained on her cheek as he responded, enjoying the feeling of her soft skin. “And by ‘take you out’ I mean take you to the food I’ve put on your dining room table.”
“Have you already been by my flat?”
Matty nodded. “Went straight there after I landed. We boarded early, so Cate said I almost caught you before you left.” He laughed at the dumbfounded look on Este’s face as she struggled to accept the fact that he was real and face-to-face with her. His arms extended to shove the flowers into her grasp. Tulips were her favourite.
“Are you going to introduce me?” His finger pointed at Sam. “Or will you just stare at me with your mouth open right in front of your boss?”
She snapped out of it and turned to face the blond shop owner.
“Gosh, I’m sorry. Sam, this is Matty. My, um, my—”
“Nice to meet you, mate. I’ve been in here a couple times over the years and seen you then, but I’m glad to be formally introduced, I guess,” interrupted Matty.
It was a bit odd that he cut her off so quickly, as the timing allowed her to almost hear his fear of the topic—audibly in his voice. Her smile faltered slightly as the two men made small talk, and she spiralled silently about what she could’ve said. I should’ve just stopped at ‘This is Matty,’ instead of trying to explain who he is, thought Este. Did Matty think I was going to say he was my boyfriend? Do I want him to be my boyfriend? Does the idea of me thinking he’s my boyfriend scare him?
Her ears perked and she snapped back into the conversation when Matty mentioned that they should be taking off soon.
“Food might be getting cold by now, E. We should get going,”
“Matty, it’s half two.” She looked over at Sam for confirmation that she couldn’t just leave in the middle of her shift, but was met with a smug smile instead.
“Go on.” he encouraged with little explanation.
“Who’s going to look after the—“
“Oliver’s on his way. He wanted extra hours this week anyway.”
Guilt settled into Este’s chest. “You didn’t have to call him in and make him rush over just for me, Sam. I feel terrible,”
“I didn’t call him in. I put him down for a three o’clock start when I made his schedule last month.” Sam reassured, as he came around the counter to stand in front and lean on it. He crossed his arms, waiting for Este to accept that he had been in on the plan to let her off early.
But, she didn’t let down. “Then why would you schedule me as well?”
“Jesus Christ Este, to surprise you! Now please leave, I’m begging. I can’t take this any longer,” Sam said while laughing in her face and forcing her towards the door. “Happy early birthday.”
“How long have you had this planned?” asked Este, turning to Matty and waiting for a response.
“A while. Any more questions, or can we go?”
-
Este’s arm tangled within Matty’s as they walked the few blocks back home along the pavement. Her work bag was slung over his shoulder as she held the tulips and sniffed them occasionally for the comfort of their fresh smell. Now that the shock had disappeared and she had the time to fully take in his appearance, Este smiled at his outfit. The Vans tied round his feet were paired with a bright and fitted graphic tee, tucked into high-waisted green trousers.
“You’re staring at me.”
A giggle escaped her lips as her and Matty turned down her street and approached her flat. “Am I not allowed to?” she argued.
He shrugged, with a smile. “I don’t mind. Just want to know why.”
“Dunno, really. You’re just pretty. And I like your outfit.”
Her keys jingled when she pulled them out of her pocket to let them into the building. As they stepped in and through the next couple of doors, soon finding and pressing the ‘up’ button for the lift, Matty said, “You know, you’d think I’d be weird about you calling me ‘pretty’, but it actually felt quite nice.”
“I can call you ‘pretty’ more often, if you want. I think of it all the time, so I’d just have to start letting you know when I do,” Este suggested, turning her doorknob and entering her place.
There was a banner of letters that spelled out ‘happy birthday’ delicately strung across the wall that sat above the dining room table. The decoration was slightly crooked, but colourful and iridescent—so the sun pouring in through the window bounced off of them and shone glittery reflections all over the room. Floaty balloons were trapped against the ceiling with their strings hanging downwards at different lengths. A vase of water was the centrepiece, ready to be the home for the tulips that Este still held as she looked around. Her eyes travelled to everything else littered on the table; noticing the handful of tall tapered candles whose colours matched that of the flowers, confetti scattered across the surface of the stained wood, a bottle of wine, and a couple of takeaway bags.
A nervous Matty stood behind and waited for her to say something. When silence remained, as she continued to search for ways to thank him, he filled the space by slinging his arm around her shoulder and rubbing it gently.
Bringing his face next to hers, Matty asked, “Do you like it?” and pecked her temple.
“Does the general public know that you’re this soft of a bloke?”
He shook his head at her inability to take things seriously. “They’ll catch on eventually.”
Este laughed and turned to him, grabbing his chin, pulling it towards her to give him a kiss on the cheek back. “It’s perfect. You have a good eye,”
“Cate helped pick everything out. I’m not the best decorator. But she was busy dealing with the helium tank to fill all the balloons so I ended up laying everything out by myself in a rush. That’s why it looks a bit shit.” Matty explained, pointing at the crooked letters on the wall.
“Stop it,” she insisted, unwrapping the tulips to dip their stems in the vase and complete the decor. “There’s nothing ‘shit’ about you. It would’ve been enough even if you’d shown up empty handed and sat on the sofa with me all night.”
Stepping closer to the table to copy her, Matty unpacked the food he’d ordered for them. He uncorked the bottle and poured a glass of wine for each of them. She sat down, getting comfortable and increasingly hungry as her stomach rumbled. Hearing its noises and laughing, the two of them dug in.
Once their plates were scraped clean, Matty threw out a “Room for cake?” while a smile sat on his face, knowing they were both too stuffed to even sniff something sweet.
She cradled her full belly, slouching in her chair. “I can’t bring myself to turn down cake but I’m frightened that like, anatomically, it won’t fit in here.”
Matty got up and walked to the fridge to fetch it anyway. “Let's just do the whole ‘sing and blow out the candles’ thing. We can eat it later.”
The white box was set on the table. He let her open the lid and slide out the dessert herself. It was a small heart-shaped cake with light green and white piped icing, reading ‘Happy 28th Este’ across the top. Bright maraschino cherries lined its edge. She grinned at how perfect and delicate it was. A 2 and an 8 candle were peeled out of their package by Matty, who stuck them into the icing, getting a bit on his finger in the process and licking it. Once a match was struck and the wicks were ignited, Matty sang the classic song to her gently.
“Happy birthday to you,” he finished with the last line, maintaining eye contact from across the table.
Este’s brown irises glowed a honey colour from the warmth of the flickering fire, while her cheeks ached from the smile plastered onto it that refused to leave. Looking down to the cake to avoid confronting Matty’s phone that now pointed up at her as he took a picture, she paused to make a wish. He admired her through his screen. A couple of seconds passed before she finally blew out the flames.
As expected, they couldn’t bear the idea of eating a slice. So, they packed it up into its box and placed it back in her fridge, continuing to clean their lunchtime mess, collecting the dishes in the sink and tucking their seats in. But, Matty knew that the corny birthday celebrations weren’t over just yet—he still had her small pile of wrapped presents sat next to his bag, which he then picked up and brought over.
“You really didn’t need to get me anything. All of this is so great already,” she complained, guilty that she hadn’t done anything for his birthday, and gesturing to everything he’d done so far.
They found comfort on her fluffy sofa as he shook his head.
“It’s just something small. Don’t worry.” reassured Matty, who set the three rectangular gifts in her lap. They were similar in shape and size, individually & messily wrapped in patterned paper. He watched as Este’s apprehensive fingertips ripped through the material and revealed what was beneath it.
Of course they’re books, she thought, smiling at how predictable the two of them were. But, what she saw next caught her by surprise. As the other two got unwrapped, Este came to realise that they were all books she had been desperate to read. The shock came from the fact that she hadn’t ever mentioned the titles to Matty, and that as she flipped through them, they were written in. Sticky tabbed, underlined, and starred lines jumped out to catch her attention. Her mouth remained agape for a minute.
“How did you know that I’ve been wanting these?”
“Just looked at that app you showed me during Big Weekend. Came in handy,” he explained. “I picked the five from your ‘to read’ list that seemed the most interesting to me but only ended up getting to finish these three.”
“See, I told you it’s useful.” She laughed in disbelief as she inspected each novel. “Did you really read all of these and write in them for me?”
Matty nodded, grabbing one and looking through it himself. “They’re all great. Helped quiet down my thoughts, I think, since they’ve been too loud lately. Plus, they’re kind of like letters—everything I marked as important or stand-out, and every note I wrote in the margins was done with you in mind. Written for you. It made it fun,”
Este pulled him in for an embrace, squeezing him with delight. A couple of repeated pecks landed on his cheek.
“This is so thoughtful of you, Matty. I don’t know what to say,”
He kissed her once she finished speaking. Her lips had a minty flavour to them.
“So what did you wish for? When you blew out your candles?” Matty wondered aloud, while turning sideways and crossing his legs over one another, to face her fully.
Este copied him. “It won’t come true if I tell you,” she defended, “But there is something I was thinking of getting for my birthday.”
“And what’s that?”
“Do you know of a good piercer around here?”
-
Less than ten minutes later, Matty and Este found themselves walking side by side into the heart of downtown Manchester. Affleck’s was their destination; and the journey was short and sweet. She’d explained to him that she loved the adrenaline of getting pierced and was in the mood for some change. Since The Studio, the piercing and tattoo parlour within the beloved market, took walk-ins, they wasted no time before heading out of the flat with determination.
It was the early evening on a Monday, so there weren’t many people around, and there wasn’t a wait to get seen by a piercer. A couple of waivers were signed before Este winced in pain from the needle going through the cartilage between her nostrils.
Matty held her hand while it happened and hissed painfully alongside her as she squeezed his fingers to brace herself. The minute he complained that she was hurting him, Este gave him a death stare as the needle still sat in her nose and the piercer prepared the jewellery for insertion. Clearly her pain was a bit more intense than his. He got the message.
After it was done, she was handed a mirror to take a look. Este liked the symmetry of the new silver hoop that went through her septum; how it balanced out the weight of the plethora of jewellery stacked on either of her ears. She grinned at her reflection.
“I love it, thank you so much!” said Este, to the piercer. She then looked over to Matty, waiting for his opinion. He reached out to flick a piece of fluff out of her hair, lovingly.
“You’re like my little bull.”
There were stars in his eyes.
With their mission accomplished, they wandered around the rest of the shops without any intention of buying anything else. Her arm was linked with his. They pointed at mannequins clad in heinous clothing to make fun of them and people watched.
“Want to see something funny?” asked Matty as they approached a stairwell far too familiar to him.
“Depends on what it is.”
He dragged her up the first flight and Este’s eyes scanned over its walls. Every inch was covered in posters. A certain one caught her eye, and she instantly knew what he was referencing. Young Ross, Adam, Matty, and George were displayed on an angsty black and white poster near the floor, casually accompanied by ones of David Bowie, The Smiths, and Bob Dylan. Este couldn’t help but laugh at how different Matty looked in the dramatically contrasted shot.
“My god, look at the state of your hair!” she teased.
“A lot of people actually want me to bring the shaved sides back, you know.”
She stepped back and held her phone up, gesturing for him to pose for a picture next to the silly anecdote, still laughing. “I can’t even recall how many times I’ve walked up these stairs without even noticing your little face down there.”
Matty kept a straight face and held up his hand in a thumbs-down position for her photo. “I like to come here whenever I’m in town and have the time to. Seems to get smaller every time.”
“Okay, granddad.”
-
Their legs grew tired of sauntering around with no objective, so soon enough, they collapsed back onto Este’s sofa. She lazily put something random on the telly and sprawled her legs across Matty’s lap—laying down while he sat upward. Rhythmic circles were traced onto the skin right above her ankles by his fingertips as they happily relaxed in the privilege of doing nothing, but together. The lack of plans helped them appreciate every minute passing; how they somehow seemed to pass by slower and feel sweeter as they sat in each other’s company.
In need of the toilet, Este forced herself to leave the nestled position they’d spent the recent hours in. The chill enveloping Matty after her body warmth was no longer draped across him made him frown. But, she came back quickly, and wasn’t even gone long enough to need to ask him what she’d missed on the episode of Bake Off that flashed on her TV screen.
Returning to Matty and the sofa, she decided to sit on top of him. Her knees were on either side of his hips. He smirked at her forward and suddenly bold demeanour as his hands found themselves on Este’s arse. They were comfortable there.
“Have a good wee?” Matty asked with a laugh.
“Yeah, great actually. Thanks.” Her fingers combed through the long and shaggy section of his hair, near the front, to part it down the centre and tuck the curls behind his ears. Seeing more of his face was the goal in her action. “You look pretty.” she repeated, from earlier. Matty’s smirk morphed into a closed-mouth smile at the sound of her niceties.
“I feel pretty with you on top of me.” he retaliated, suspending the suggestive mood she initiated.
Este’s hands remained on either side of his neck when he brought her lips down to meet his. They moved against one another delicately, but both wanted more. It was only a matter of time before the lust between them escalated the heat of the moment. So, she deepened their kiss, pulling Matty in closer and shifting her hips to feel more of him and humming in the process. She winced when his nose brushed against hers and her fresh piercing, but it didn’t stop her.
The friction she created over his bulge made him groan. He pinched the skin at her waist with greed as his hands crept beneath her top. It only encouraged Este to continue with her fluid movements, his pants growing tighter.
As much as Matty wanted to revel in the pleasure of his girl hovering above him—one of his favourite places for her to be—he considered the fact that it was her birthday. Her day. The thought made him want to try something new.
“Can I make you feel good?” he whispered, breaking their lips apart for air and to squeeze his question into the muggy air.
She nodded against him, beginning to climb off of his lap to lay on her back; assuming Matty wanted to go down on her. But, he stopped her before she could. Instead, he just sat up straighter, nearer to the edge of the cushion beneath them, and used his hands to position her straddle over only one of his legs. He wanted Este to ride his thigh.
They didn’t bother taking off any of their clothes. His hands guided her back and forth, her eyes fluttering shut in indulgence as the seam of her shorts and the pressure of his leg pressed against her clit. She bit back a moan with her bottom lip trapped between her teeth.
“Let me hear you, E.” encouraged Matty. Obliging, the next roll of her hips dragged a string of profanity out of her throat. “That’s better.”
The tightness in her lower stomach grew. Hot breath cycled between them as they breathed through their mouths during the lulls that found their lips no longer tangled together. Este could feel his hard-on when the top of her thigh came forward to graze it, growing wetter and closer to her climax by the second. She was a mess, and putty in Matty’s hands.
His eyes were glued to her. The way she moved and moaned his name with determination drove him insane, and made it hard for him to ignore the throbbing in his pants. Her face dropped into his neck, scratching at his skin softly with her teeth as she whined.
“Harder,” Este muttered, clearly getting close. He listened to her command and used his hands to bring her heat along his leg with aggression. The increased force made her cry out into him, head still hidden beneath his jaw.
Matty let her moans heighten in pitch, feeling her start to shake against him. But, suddenly, his hands slowed down her movements. “No,” he told her, “Not yet.”
Cruelly, he deprived her of the feeling she was chasing. A gentler and slower pace continued, much to Este’s dismay, as she quietly begged for more.
“Matty, please,” fell from her lips with desperation.
In response, he began building up the pressure, but at a snail’s pace. Her hips buckled forward in attempts for any pleasure she could get.
“Ask me one more time, baby.”
Her thick hair fell around her face, sticking to her sweaty skin as her head spun. “I need to come. Please, let me,” she forced out to him between her heavy breathing, and as soon as Matty heard her words, he tightened his grip and encouraged her hips to move faster. The sudden boom of resistance on her sensitive core drew more noises from her mouth as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Este could almost see stars. Only a couple seconds of him grinding her against him and uttering filth into her ear finally brought her to her orgasm, the convulsed muscles in her abdomen releasing their pressure. A wet patch soaked through her shorts and onto Matty’s when she moaned his name. The two of them slowed to a stop to catch their breath and kiss hungrily once more. A giddy expression couldn’t be wiped from her face if she tried.
When she gained a bit of her composure back, still sat on Matty’s lap, she took note of the almost concerning amount of sweat that encompassed their skin and the now dirty clothing they were wearing. “I think I need a shower,” Este decided.
Matty scoffed. “You’re going to leave and take a shower? When this is what you did to me?” he pointed to his crotch in disbelief. He was painfully hard.
Giggling and with a shrug, she responded, “Then come with.”
--- 2 July, 2019
That night, they washed the perspiration off of each other (after the shower head Este promised) and threw on comfy clothes. Both exhausted, they planned on climbing into her bed—but when Matty caught The Goonies popping up on the TV out in the lounge, they ended up staying awake.
Not for much longer, though. They must have only seen ten minutes of the cult classic film before dozing off and spending the night with their jumbled limbs squished together on the sofa. Aching muscles were a theme of the morning that followed.
It was reasonably early when they woke. Matty remembered to wish Este happy birthday the minute he learned she was conscious, showering her face in playful pecks. She didn’t want to do anything more with her day though, and thought yesterday was kind enough for him to plan. A quiet day in with Matty by her side was what she wanted. So they did exactly that, and stayed round her flat to do more nothings. It was peaceful. It was needed.
The annoying thing was that Este didn’t allow him to smoke in the house. When it was a joint, cracking a window was fine—as she frequently did so herself—but she forced him to take his cigarettes outside. As Matty needed another one, she followed him down, to soak up all of him she could get.
But, in the back of her mind, Este knew she was looking for a moment to be serious with him. Have a conversation about what had been fogging her conscience since he surprised her at Greenhouse the previous day.
Leaning against the wall of her building while he took a drag next to her, she mustered up the courage.
“So,” she started quietly, “Do you see other people?”

You :3
I like you :3
I, personally, LOVE the added depth that Halo 2 adds to the series. The Covenant becoming more of a faction rather than "Things that want to kill humans" like most games at the time. And Sargeant Johnson actually becoming Sergaeant Johnson instead of a random Marine with cooler voicelines.
And it sucks that Halo 2 wasn't even finsihed. There was so many more ideas and so much more story that Bungie wanted to add but inevitably couldn't.
And this is a complete wild guess, but I think the main reason a lot of people stuck through with the company through Halo 2's horrencous was because it ended up becoming more of a passion project?
Although that may just be me projecting cause im such a nerd idk
And Halo 3, compared to Halo 2 was.... Well it fell flat on a lot of the built up story beats and seemed to just forget most of the previously established plot??
Also Microsoft and 343 can suck an egg. Halo as a franchise should've ended with Reach, but because it was Microsofts/Xbox's lead money maker. The company's mascot, so to speak. So they couldn't let it end, and they had to bring it back as the trainwreck that was Halo 4.
Halo 2 is a beautiful shitshow. The way it adds to the story and world that CE set up is actual art. The only spots it breaks continuity are where it benefits the story, like with Johnson surviving the first Halo.
Oh my god this got so long. Why do I have much to say about these games. Someone sedate me.
But there is something so. strange. about 2. The guy who did the cursed halo mod, Infernoplus, has said that Halo 2 is a coding mess. The levels are a bit better planned than CE, and the story is insanely good, but the game feels like an inbred pug! The way they coded things are weird and inconvenient in places! You can find ass pics from Bungie employees in the files! It's notorious for crashing for no reason!
I strongly suspect that a lot of the weirdness of Halo 2 is caused by them trying to update and change the code from CE on a short notice. Which. CE's code was probably half of the problem. Supposedly CE started as a side project, turned into a 3rd person shooter, then was turned back into 1st person and they re-coded the entire thing in 9 months. All while Bungie was being transferred to Microsoft. And there were only 15 people regularly working on it.
I really think that CE is just the mess that worked, and that 2 inherited everything that could have gone wrong with CE.
Honestly Halo being a passion project is probably dead on the money, at least in some places. The alien designs are all so unique for the time, the worldbuilding is insanely tight-knit, and the story and characters interact in ways that are so specific and perfect I almost can't believe it was one of the last things they worked on.
But the big thing that gives it away, to me, is the architecture. Somebody. Decided to make separate and distinct designs for the Covenant, Forerunner, and human buildings. This part is normal! It's necessary for a game, even! What is not normal is making each level layout distinct too. Giving the ships and building their own kinds of layouts. Not only that, but hallways that lead to nowhere, dead ends, and rooms that have their own clear purposes beyond being 'room to fight in'.
I keep hearing people talk about how they keep getting lost in CE, and I think part of that is because the levels are designed so strangely! Someone made the decision to make the buildings and ships more realistic, to the (slight) detriment of their player experience!
Whoever made the designs for the ships took inspirations from Alien for the humans architecture. Same for the designs that became the Elites. It would have made sense to try and ride the coattails of that movie, make more money, but that isn't even what they were trying to do! I really do think that someone did this because they wanted to. I think Halo 2 was just them getting to expand on their ideas properly, even with how little time they had.
I know next to nothing about 3 right now lol. It's one that I don't see talked about a lot, and I'm saving actually looking into it until after I've played it myself. I've heard people say it's the worst Halo (besides 5), I've seen people say it's the best Halo, and I'm sure a lot of people say that it's mid. I do figure that some of the plot was set up at the same time as 2's was, since the trilogy was probably planned once the sequel was being produced.
I am a lot more opinionated on 343's games. I definitely think the route they took for 4 and 5 was dogshit. 5 was especially bad, because a lot of the conflict is just super shallow compared to CE. The characters feel so flat because, while there is plenty of conflict in theory, it falls on its face because of the pacing. The writing feels so rushed. Like the story isn't the focus of the campaign, or even of the cutscenes. The characters and conflict don’t get to develop because nobody has time to say anything meaningful to each other.
But I kind of disagree with 4 being a trainwreck, if only because a lot of the story points were set up by 3. I don't think they handled it well, and there were so many places where they could have done better, but I do think it was a progression that could have happened even if Bungie held onto the property. I don't know about the actual gameplay yet though, so there's good odds I'll find issues there if I'm able to play it.
I am also super opinionated about Infinite, because I think that it has genuinely one of the best stories in Halo, even compared to CE and 2. I just think it's held up by mid gameplay in the campaign, and absolutely ruined by the cash grab of a multiplayer. And the story sucks in some places, but even when it sucks it compels me. It’s SO frustrating. It succeeded everywhere 5 failed and failed everywhere 5 succeeded. But I'm never gonna get to play it, so at least I don't have to deal with the gameplay to get to the story :3c

A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
Refering to this.
Thank you for the ask! Let's answer this one too C: Adding this after the full answer, I'm gonna add a read more because it turned out quite long hahaha
7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate?
Ah, what medium of art don't I appreciate? I love art! I love reading, listening to music (and singing, but I'm not great at it hahah), sculpture, etc.
With reading, I mostly read fanfics lately, but I enjoy lots of typical books and authors too: Chaos Walking (Patrik Ness), the Lord of the Rings, Rick Riordan's books in general, MXTX's books, the Castle in the Sky. Those are the ones that come to mind first, my faves~ Of course, I include here manga and comics, there's sooo many I love as well. I do draw, but don't usually do comics (maybe someday!). Lately I've been loving Jujutsu Kaisen and Akagami no Shirayukihime, but I could recomend so many good ones.
With music I just always need some music if I'm not watching anything that has sound otherwise, I love so many kinds of styles, but I have a preference for melodic, mellow songs~ specially ones that I can sing along too. Lots of classical too (Chopin is my fave~). And piano is my fave instrument to listen to <3 I kinda talked about music already in the previous ask, so I won't go into more detail hahah
For sculpture I don't really have a particular artist I like, it's more a casual love. But all those "realistic" sculptures are mind blowing to me, how it seems completely real, specially fabric or expressions, but it's made of marble or another hard material.... man, so much talent, I admire them so much.
If we talk about drawing/painting I'm not proficient at but I still admire: watercolour is gorgeous and I am incapable of it. I love the art made with it! Oil and classic paintings as well, there's so many classic artists who have made amazing pieces. My fave is Monet! But I also greatly admire the ones from the victorian period in general. The way they render fabric and clothes is SO GOOD. I kinda emulate it unconsciously when I do my shadding ahah but I am sure it looks nothing like that xD Like, look at this art called "Flirtation" by Frédéric Soulacroix, that fabric 🙏🙏🙏 And the background is gorgeous too.
Tumblr media
Also, I really enjoy watching movies/tv shows. Wether they're animation or not. Specially if they have good plot and/or if they have good photography/animation. There's so many beautiful works of arts in that medium as well. Ghibli movies are some of my faves (Howl's Moving Castle is my fave movie ever), Lord of the Rings movies are also masterpieces. I've also enjoyed lately the Poirot movies they've been making recently, they're really interesting and have great photography as well~
I have to say, I don't often watch theater/musicals because they're expensive and I'm broke af. But the times I went to see some, they're amazing as well 🙏 I'll include dance performances here too, because they're in a similar category to me.
I enjoy seeing architecture as well. My fave period for architecture is gothic! The way they did all those high arches and beautifully decorated walls. And the stained glasses! Sooo many great buildings!! Most of the ones I can see around where I live and was able to travel are churches or cathedrals. They are such beautiful buildings, even though I'm not religious in any sense at all, I always love visiting them and seeing them. But there's sooooo many amazing artstyles out there as well! Lique some Mosques are absolutelly stunning, with their intricate colorful patterns! There's so much good architecture to admire as well...
Also, I'll add that videogames are a form of art in my opinion as well, and I admire lots of creators. There's SO MUCH variety in this media, it's insane. Stuff like Return of Obra Dinn or Papers Please by Lucas Pope (who makes it all, including music, he's so talented), Baldur's Gate 3 (currently enjoying this one), Chants of Sennar, Binding of Isaac, Fire Emblem, Kingdom Hearts, etc. So many different styles but so fun and interesting. And also, so many good RPGs with amazing stories I don't think can be told in a better way using other media (Persona series, Tales of series, Dragon Age, the Nonary Games, Mother saga, Xenoblade Chronicles, etc.)
Sorry for the big rambling, I guess you didn't expect me to go into such a extended answer hahahah I really, really love all art of creation, it's such an amazing thing that someone visualizes something and can create it so everyone else can see.
I've said this over and over again, I wish I were filthy rich, so rich I could never ever use all my money, only so I could be an art mecenas (I think it's called patron in English, I like the word we use in Spanish tho XD) and give money to aaaall my favourite artists so they can just create without any worry at all, just focus on their art and not the money they need to make to survive. Just create their own stories, characters, art pieces, or create fanworks of any kind. I don't even want to request stuff I want to see, I just want to see what they want to create! What their mind can imagine and how they see the world!!!
Ah, if only...
Anyway, this has gone for long enough hahah thanks again for giving me the oppotunity to ramble~
And if you read till here, thanks as well for your time~ Feel free to send more questions for this ask~ (or anything else, really, if you want me to expand on any of these topics I mentioned here haha I'd be happy to~) P.D.: Just as I posted it, I also remembered tappestry/weaving/any kind of thread art. AND OF COURSE, fashion/outfit makers and designers!!! There's so much art in this world... so hard to remember it all, but it's all around us <3

2020 Highlights
I guess it'd be an understatement to say that 2020 was a really awful year, given the devastating effects of the global pandemic and the innumerable disasters and issues happening in our country. I think we got jinxed with our "2020, please be good to me" posts 🙍
We all started that year still not knowing about the presence of COVID-19, and from then on, it all went pretty downhill after that. From everything that has happened in my life and others', I can frankly say that 2020 was actually the worst 😠 However, while reflecting on it, I can also count some bright days. I guess it wouldn't hurt to kind of celebrate the good ones during that horrible year, eh?
I fully acknowledge that so many lives were (and still are) at stake and just trying to get through that year wasn't easy for us -- even much more for others. I also know that terrible things can still happen regardless if there's a pandemic or not. But I too still acknowledge that despite the horrible year, there were actually bits in my life, however small or big they seem, that remind me to keep moving forward and get through the day no matter how mentally and emotionally challenging 2020 had been.
So I just want to share some of the good highlights I had that kept me sane during that dreadful year, without seeming tone-deaf or tactless:
HK & Macau Trip
Tumblr media
Litrato mula sa sandaling bago mag sakuna??  Wow pre-COVID days na we were still not stuck in our homes? and still be able to travel?? Gosh I miss those days  😞
Anyway, this was my first time in Macau and second time in Hong Kong! We went back a year after our first HK trip because our fam loves it there. What I most especially like in HK is its easy-peasy convenient public transportation system -- which, I reckon, is a huge factor why we wanted to visit again since it's less hassle to go to many different places. Macau though, has one of the most beautiful and extravagant-looking architecture and interiors (we only visited a whole day because too laysho for my layf LOL).
With High Honors
I don't have a photo to share for this highlight (well I actually have a few but for privacy reasons I wish not to nalang) but I'm really so happy to know that my hard-earned efforts led to the expected performance and reward! I remember back in JHS I made a deal to myself that if I ever belong in the Top 10, I'll treat myself with a large Sbarro lasagna! HAHAHAH grabe noh kana ra jud haha it's been long since I last ate one (gi dibdib jud ang deal ba) and I actually haven't treated myself one after the recognition program. When everything starts to settle down I hope to get myself one!! hihi (I can only imagine how the food tastes better after not eating it for years!)
Happy Birthday to me!
Tumblr media
I turned 19 on May 19th! Ew, I am growing old. Just the thought of me turning 20 this year makes me puke 😖 chz. But this is obviously worth celebrating because I am blessed with the gift of life and the time to celebrate it with my family <3
Passed UPCAT
Tumblr media
MOM, I PASSED UPCAT! AAAAHHHHH Well this is unexpected as someone who just skrrrt-ed my way through the Math part and didn't even finish half of it! Luck doesn't always favor me but I'm happy that I got lucky in this 😊 I feel like I don't deserve it but still, thank you so much, Lord!
The Weeb Life
Tumblr media
If there's one thing to describe what I did the whole time while I was just at home, I would say... BINGING ANIME! My fave anime characters are my fave fictional companions during quarantine huhu I'm so glad I started watching anime (and reading manga) this year. Honestly at first it wasn't really my cup of tea after watching some anime recommendations but then I tried watching one episode of Attack on Titan and after that MY LIFE STARTED TO CHANGE (HAHAHA OA kaayo noh).
There were actually days and moments I did not include in my highlights that gave me a sense of strength and purpose while coping everything that had happened that year. But I wish to just keep it to myself for these are my little personal winning moments hihi.
Albeit this "wasted" year of mostly spending my days within four-cornered walls, 2020 was actually a year of learning and growth for me. I just hope this year everything will eventually get better for all of us and we'll no longer have to get by with those community quarantine classifications 🙏
Love, Andie

A Little Solo Exploration in Italy
Tak... I took advantage of our class absence policy and decided to make a trip to Milan and Venice this week! Typically, I don't like missing class because it's just so stressful to catch up afterward, but for the few days I was in Prague, all I did was grind and rest so I could enjoy this trip to the fullest. Plus, I'd never gone to Italy before and really really wanted to make it there before the end of my program :)
It was so nice to see another one of my friends in Milan. Staying with her and hanging out kinda felt like I was studying abroad there too; in the sense that this trip was much more relaxing than my travels typically are. (We watched 9 episodes of the show Suits in the 3 days I visited Milan)

Me and her enjoying some homemade pasta and in front of the Duomo <3
The city itself was gorgeous too. I actually found out when I arrived that Design Week was happening too, which means that tons of exhibitions opened around the city showcasing different art and interior design things. Some favorites were this flowery one with pastel furniture pieces---ngl I have no idea what the flowers had to do with it--- and this one in a river/canal about sustainable boats. I actually walked to the water one just thinking it was a cool dock but it turned out to be an exhibit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My friend taught me some Italian, thankfully, because it surprised me how many people didn't speak English. In Prague, I feel like most of the time I try using Czech, the person immediately switches to English because they can hear my accident haha. Despite that people were super nice, and I also randomly heard a lot of French and Mandarin being spoken? More on that later
In terms of things I saw, I explored SO much of the city. One of the days I went out on my own and walked from the Southwest to the Northeast corner... I actually really enjoy having little solo adventures when I'm traveling. Sometimes coordinating with other people and trying to find places everyone wants to go to gets tiring (not the case here but in general). Nevertheless, it does get lonely and I'm a big "make random comments on the things I'm walking by person" so it's always nice to have company then. My friend came with me the next day tho and I'd have to say my favorite part was going up to the Duomo terraces with her! The architecture and details are just insane. We looked it up and it took 600 years to complete the church.

Navigli (district with canals), Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio, Modern part of Milan, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (shopping area), and terraces
As for Venice, a nice summary of my trip would be walking, water, churches, and more walking ahaha. I'm starting to think I have a walking obsession because for my one full day in Venice I literally walked a half marathon in distance. It was so beautiful with the blue skies though. Very picturesque and I ended up with too many pictures as evidenced by all the pics in this post.

Food was delicious ofc, although I'd have to say I've had enough Italian food for the rest of my program. I can only handle so much pizza, pasta, and bread sorryyy, but gelato I could get again definitely (I ate gelato for three straight days)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also went a bit spontaneous on my planning because friends said I should just wander and explore, so some of the best things were this bookstore that uses books to damn the area during high tide, taking a waterbus down the Grand Canal (would SO recommend), and going to Murano and Burano which are other islands in the Venetian lagoon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was so cool seeing everything, but all the walking made me miss traveling in a group because I started to get bored towards the afternoon. (I literally texted my friends I missed them lol) Sooo I am so glad to be back in Prague and not traveling the last weeks too. Besides a quick trip to Krakow, I'm done flying and training places. On one hand it's a little sad because that means the end is coming, but on the other, I get to rest and enjoy home :)

no wonder cage did 4’33”
3/12/2018
0 Comments
about a hundred musicians, one conductor, and compositions by some classics...
i have never understood how musicians do it. play to the tunes of others. of what kind of commitment that is needed by the percussionist to wait for their turn to bang the symbals. and wait they do. they sit, they text or whatever people do on their smartphones, take out the score of the next composition and wait they do. for the time to hammer the instrument that makes sound like a church bell. for the triangle, for the harp. all to create a beautiful ensemble of sounds, that sounds like music. music as we know it, the classics, that one has heard in one form or the other. in all it’s poise, in all it’s predictablity, of rhythm, of harmony. with it’s full effect and force.
standing there at the door of the hall, a hall which was just large enough to have the about hundred musicians (of course the viennese architecture with its really high ceilings and so on help), i was standing right next to the percussions, couldn’t help but think of that beautiful film in which we only see the drummer of the orchestra who is dozing off, looking into the camera, and so on, but continues playing (how do i not remember the name of the film). the conductor in all his glory of being the conductor, with his wand, was swaying away for the music. I guess considering the orchestra was mostly of very young people, also not taking himself too seriously, and being soft, friendly and funny, was still listening to the notes that he needed to.
isit the same thing, being in a film crew as in being in the orchestra? if so, then i kind of get it. but film shoots @re so shitty, so dirty, so ugly, whereas this right here was beauty, in all it’s conventional understanding beauty, thing that will emotionally move you, and take you to with its musical curve, where it’s going.
what was missed by most in the hall, also because they were part of it i guess, is the endings of each of the compositions. and the gaps in between the plays. most of the compositions designed in a way, that it ends with a high, for applause. i could hear the applause, almost as part of the composition. But they never happened. It was a rehearsal after all.and there were sounds of relief, sounds of people losing the poised positions, keeping their instruments down, putting on the new composition, but of course sound of the conductor telling them their next thing, correcting what needed to be, and so on. but that right then was what made it so real, so out of the musical bubble that was being created. no wonder cage thought of 4’33”.
i never knew harp was so beautiful. to see those things there, and imagining them being carried in, brought in, was all lost when it was being played in all it’s heavenliness (cliche yeah, but that’s how the idea of heaven is conditioned in, so well...)
it is all about the timing. which instruments get in at what point, and what loudness and so on. to some extent, i do understand what and why there’s so much tall about cage and the composition of 4’33”.
i wish the conductor spoke more english. he was quite fluent in it, but i think because most musicians were germans, german made more sense. maybe it was also nice to not know what he was saying. the musicians all had the music notes and so on, as the common language. at one point, half an hour two of them walked in with plastic bags and were unabashed (to my surprise) at arriving late. they had actually got stands for notes, for people who didn’t have it already. post that composition, many went and picked one up, getting access to the notes. even as the trumpet man was making marks of highs and lows on his. having stood there for about a couple of hours ‘observing’ (and with so many filmic ideas) stepping out, i could hear better. the sounds of the tram, of that roads, of the footsteps, and so on. no wonder cage did 4’33”.
thanks Emily (my former flatmate who is a cellist in the ensemble and told me about the rehearsal)
leaving with this image of cage’s composition of 4’33”.

The only thing you hoped for this past week was for Shouto not to regret the events that happened in the dressing room. (Or, more precisely, the events that didn’t happen because of an interruption but you both had very much wanted to happen at the time.)
(Or so you hoped he did. It seemed like he did…)
You groaned, burrowing your face in your pillows after flopping back onto your bed after a shower. Why was this so confusing?
It wasn’t like Shouto was ignoring you or pretending nothing happened, but he’s just been so busy with work neither of you had time to sit down and really talk. You briefly got to see him for his daily morning coffee runs but you didn’t want to accidentally ruin what little time throughout the work week the two of you had by bringing it up. And now it was the weekend, which would have been the perfect time to talk about it, if not for the fact Shouto was picking you up to get ready at his place and then head to a super fancy gala in less than an hour!
With a charity ball full of strangers you had to prepare for, you supposed your potential romance could take the back seat for a little while longer.
At least the fruity little candies would be there waiting for you.
Snapping you out of your thoughts, your phone buzzed with a message from Shouto telling you he was less than 20 minutes away from your place. Within the last few minutes, you double checked you had the necessities, like your makeup and clothes and hair supplies and shoes and possibly every ‘getting ready’ product you could think of under the sun, all ready to go. Your dress was already hanging in Shouto’s house, ready for you to change into.
Apparently, there wasn’t a moment left to spare since you soon got a call with him telling you he had just arrived. Taking deep breaths, you walked out your door, lugging your bag of belongings in tow.
“Good afternoon, Y/N,” Shouto greeted as you settled into his car. He smiled as you reached over to give him a quick side hug. He squeezed your shoulder gently. “Nervous about tonight?”
You tried to calm the tapping your fingers were doing against the inside of the car door. “Is it obvious?”
“Not really,” he assured. “Regardless, you shouldn’t worry. You’ll be an amazing date and we don’t even need to stay the whole time if you would rather not.”
Amazing date date? Or amazing fake date?
Would it be too forward of you to ask? (Not that anything could’ve been more forward than Shouto pinning you against a wall and almost kissing you just a few days ago.)
“You’re right, it’ll be fine!” you said, trying to sound more confident than you felt. “After all, you’ll be there.”
A smile. “Hm.”
It didn’t take very long for you to get from your place to his seeing as he lived relatively close to his work and therefore yours. He parked in front of a luxury high-rise apartment that was characterized by glass windows and angled architecture. It looked like something straight out of Portfolio Magazine.
“All those ‘Japan’s Youngest CEO Bachelor’ tabloids are starting to make sense now,” you said with a teasing whistle, following Shouto into the building after being greeted by the security guards and receptionist.
He held his hand out to you and you placed yours in his palm as he led you to the VIP elevator that brought you all the way up to the top floor. His hand gave yours a soft squeeze when he noticed your gaze darting around the area nervously.
When the elevator doors opened, your eyes widened as you took in the ceramic floor tiles, the spotless walls, floor-to-ceiling mirror columns, and the natural light pouring in through the bare, glass windows. “Whoa— This looks like a wealthy bachelor pad if I’ve ever seen one.”
Letting go of your hand, Shouto offered to take your bag of belongings and brought it to a room for you to get ready in. “Do you...not like it?”
“Oh, that’s not it at all!” You shook your head earnestly. “This place is so beautiful! And a little cold.”
Both literally and metaphorically.
His penthouse was elegant and sleek, with tasteful decor that probably cost more than a month’s salary for you. But it seemed a little...empty. Not like a home.
Apparently, Shouto agreed.
“I live here because it’s close to work. But it’s a little unwelcoming,” he admitted wryly. “Not something I ever really settled into. Though my mother and sister did try to help decorate.”
You looked at the finely chosen contemporary paintings displayed on some of the walls. “They have good eyes.”
Shouto nodded but appeared to be in pensive thought. “If I were to ever settle down with a family, it wouldn’t be here. But this is what’s most suitable for now.”
Running your fingers against the cold glass windows, you peered down into the city in an attempt to calm your fluttering heart having just learned Shouto valued having a family in the future. Something in you just liked hearing he one day wanted to settle down with someone. You bit your lower lip to stop a hopeful smile from spreading.
“I’m sure you’ll be a great husband and father when the day comes,” you said quietly, still gazing out the window to avoid looking into his eyes. “But, um, anyway— I should start getting ready now! Don’t want us to be late for tonight.”
His hand that was reaching out to hold you suddenly dropped to his side as he stepped away at your words. “Of course.”
You silently cursed yourself under your breath, wishing you had waited a few moments to talk so you could’ve seen what he was going to do. Would he have tried to kiss you again? You hoped that was the case, but it was too late to know for sure now.
“You can get ready in here,” said Shouto, opening the door to what looked like a guest bedroom, your dress hanging on an armoire inside. “There’s your dress. And the bathroom is right there if you need it.”
“Thank you, Shouto.” You resisted the urge to plop right on the huge bed and jump on it while he was in the room. “I’ll try to be quick!”
“No need to rush; we have time.” He checked the watch on his wrist before turning to you. “I’ll be in the shower for a bit but if you need anything just let me know.”
In the shower? While you were under the same roof? Your stomach did funny flips at the thought.
“I’ll keep your offer in mind,” you said playfully, glancing over at the dress. You’d need his assistance sooner or later buttoning the dress up, but there was sadly no time for funny business if you wanted to make it to the gala in a timely manner.
When Shouto left the room to take a shower, you began getting ready yourself. You did your hair and makeup in a way that made you feel confident and happy, and by the time you were done about two hours had passed. All you had left was to change into the dress and throw on some fancy shoes and you’d be set with time to spare.
You were just wondering if Shouto was almost ready when you heard a knock on the door.
Speak of the devil. Or angel. He was much too sweet to be the devil, after all.
“Everything okay in there?” he asked, voice muffled from the outside of the wall.
You nodded before realizing he couldn’t see you. “Yeah! Just putting on the dress now.”
There was a shuffle outside then a pause. Then, “Did you want any help?”
“Yes, please.” You slipped into your outfit and pulled the front over your chest. The fabric was light against your body, making it feel almost ethereal.
After a while, Shouto cautiously opened the door to the room and you turned to catch sight of him. He was dressed up in a fitted black suit with silky red trimmings and a tie that matched the color of your dress. His hair was combed back and to the side, pulled out of his face and giving you a clear view of his forehead. That was one pretty forehead.
All in all, he looked as handsome as ever, but with some extra pizzazz.
“You look great,” you both said at the same time.
There was a beat of silence, then you both laughed.
“I’m only half in my dress and I’m sure I look a bit unruly, but thank you,” you giggled as Shouto walked over to grasp at the fastens on the back of your gown.
He shook his head. “You look beautiful like you always do. The dress just helps compliment it even more.”
His words brought warmth to your cheeks and you were glad you were faced away from him so he couldn’t see your all too pleased expression. “Smooth talker much?”
“Not flattery. Just the truth.”
Your smile grew even wider. “Hm.”
Shouto nimbly fastened the buttons on your back, cold fingertips lightly grazing your skin in ways that sent shivers down your spine. You closed your eyes and hoped that was only a phrase and that he couldn’t actually tell how much your body was affected from such a simple touch by sensing shivers in your spine.
You held your breath as he travelled up your back, skin sparking against skin. Time seemed to slow down as he closed the last few buttons.
“Finished,” he said quietly, though his hands didn’t move from their position on you.
Turning around, you caught his palms in yours, lightly stroking his knuckles with your thumb. Shouto looked down at your hands joined together then back at you.
You murmured, “Thanks for your assistance.”
The tips of your noses were almost brushing together as you stared up at him. If either one of you were to lean forward a few centimeters more, your lips would be touching. Just like in the fitting room last weekend.
And just like in the fitting room, Shouto’s hands encircled your waist and toyed with the buttons on your dress while you tugged at his color.
But just like in the fitting room, there was an interruption mere seconds before the kiss. It’s just that, this time, the interruption was from you.
“Wait! I have makeup on!” you cried, pulling away in despite the dissatisfaction you knew the both of you were feeling. “If we kiss it might get messed up and I’ll have to redo it and then we’ll be late to the gala.”
He made deep a sound of frustration. “Fuck the gala.”
You wanted to. In this very moment, you would much rather ditch the gala and fuck something else, but you had to remain somewhat rational. “But we made a commitment to show up, didn’t we?”
Shouto looked down like he had just been chided. “We did.”
“Plus… The candy!”
He blinked before a grin took over his face. He chuckled, “Of course. Can’t forget the greatest candy heist of the year.”
“Exactly!”
His smile was amused but his hands rested intimately on your hips. “Besides, you put in effort to get ready for tonight, it’d be a disservice to keep you from showing it off.”
Your cheeks warmed at his compliment as you let out a laugh. “Flatterer,” you accused, though your tone had no bite to it. Instead, it was teasing as you brought your palm up to cup his jaw. “We should probably get going if we don’t want to be late, hmm?”
“Mm.”
“But first—” You planted a kiss on his cheek, giving him just a small hint of what could come later that night. When you pulled away, there was a lipstick mark in the shape of your lips where his jawline met his cheek an you smiled, satisfied with your work.
His grip on you tightened as his gaze turned hooded. “If I’m a flatterer, you’re being a tease.”
“Sounds like a good combination to me.”
— ✩ —
Oddly enough, the Naruhata Charity Gala was going quite well.
The food was yummy, there were cute places for you and Shouto to sneak off and take obnoxious selfies, and—most importantly—there were bowls of free candies scattered throughout the entire premise.
A whole building was rented out for the charity ball to be held and the venue even had an outdoor pool and with complimentary champagne (not that anyone was exactly prepared to take a dip in the middle of the night, but the only thing that mattered to the guests was that you could).
Both of you were having fun.
You met some of Shouto’s friends, got complimented by the DJ for your...enthusiastic dance skills on the dance floor, and, for most of the night, Shouto was successful in avoiding making conversation with his father.
Things were going well. Until they weren’t.
You and Shouto were standing in a hallway just outside the main ballroom, exchanging jokes and talking about how many crabcakes a person could fit in their mouth. Totally business as usual, until you heard a group of people whispering only mere feet away from you.
“Are you sure that’s them?” a woman in a red dress whispered—and you used that term rather subjectively since the whisper could be heard by practically half the room—as she glanced at you.
Seeing their gazes, you froze in your spot. Shouto must have heard them to since his brows furrowed as he held you closer to him, protectively.
“And you really heard them, right? Mr. Todoroki has a… You know…”
Another girl who you recognized as another customer from the dress store the other day nodded her head. “Yes, I overheard it with my own two ears when I was getting my outfit. That’s Mr. Todoroki and his sugar baby!”
You almost choked on your crabcake.
Shouto rubbed circles into your back. “You okay?”
“Peachy,” you said sheepishly, trying not to draw even more attention to yourself than there already was. On the plus side, at least more people would notice how hot you look in this dress with your hair and makeup done. (Though it might be for the wrong reasons…)
You vaguely recalled teasing Shouto about looking like a sugar daddy, and he joked back. But you didn’t think anyone would want to gossip enough to overhear a joke and spread it around as a rumor!
The group began chattering some more and seemed to gain a crowd. You even saw a large figure you recognized as Todoroki Enji walking towards you.
“I’m going to have to clear things up, aren’t I?”
Shouto shook his head, a frown present on his face. But you knew his displeasure wasn’t directed at you. “You don’t need to pay attention to this nonsense. People can think what they want.”
“It’s okay! I don’t want to ruin your reputation with the media when I was initially here to help it get better. Besides, they don’t seem to be doing it maliciously. They’re just curious.”
He looked at you, but before he could think of the words to say, you walked over to the group of gossiping partygoers.
You tapped on the shoulder of the one you saw at the store. “Hi! Excuse me…” All eyes turned to you and you tried not to shrink down. “I, ah, I know what you overheard that day at the dress retailers, but I just wanted to clear it up and say it was a joke! Funny right? Well, maybe not so funny to you guys, but it was just an inside joke between me and Shouto.” You laughed, growing nervous at the lack of response. “You see, I’m not actually his sugar—”
Just then, a booming voice interrupted, “Shouto! What are you thinking, son?”
You almost jumped at the sound and turned towards the direction of your date. As you whirled around, you made eye contact with him. Shouto had a furious expression on his face, but when his gaze met yours he tried giving you a comforting smile. Seeing his distress, you immediately made your way back to him.
“A nice woman to boost your media image,” Enji whispered, trying to lead his son to a less crowded area, probably so no one else would overhear or spread more rumors. “That’s all I asked for. Not a…a…you know!”
Was it a criterion that rich people must not know how to whisper? you asked yourself. Either, one, no one was actually trying to whisper, or two, they could not control their volume very well.
“Actually,” you spoke up from behind him. When Enji turned to look at you, you gave him a wave before walking over to Shouto’s side. “I’m not his sugar baby. But even if I were, what’s it to you?”
There was a hush of silence that settled around the room and you almost had to laugh at how comical it was.
“As long as it’s an agreement between two consenting adults, there’s nothing wrong with it,” you said, hoping it didn’t just go in one of his ears and out the other. “You could think of it as like a business deal, but...with more of a relationship aspect.”
Enji’s face turned a shade of red. “That’s not the sort of people someone with Shouto’s upbringing should hang around with. I don’t know how you were raised, but—”
“Stop it, father.” Shouto’s voice was angry as he clenched his jaw. But his arm was wrapped around your waist. You gently squeezed his hand with yours. “You don’t get to make assumptions about Y/N without ever even talking to them.”
“Shouto,” he said in a warning tone when he noticed more and more people were paying attention to them. This didn’t exactly seem like the attention he wanted. “We can talk about this later.”
Shouto frowned. “There’s nothing to talk about. All you have to do is say sorry to Y/N and then we can leave.” He turned around to the crowd trying to pretend they weren’t listening in. “And everyone else, you can stop eavesdropping.”
They look startled at the forward confrontation and you stifled a giggle, leaning into your date with a smile.
He gave you a chaste kiss on your forehead before murmuring under his breath, “Everyone attending a charity gala just to brag about how generous they are but then turning around to judge everyone who might not be in the same circle as them? How shameless.”
Although it seemed like he was whispering it, your hypothesis that rich people really didn’t know how to whisper was right, since it was loud enough for the whole room to hear. Not that you or Shouto seemed to mind.
“You know, if you’re not going to apologize to Y/N, there’s no reason we should stay any longer,” he told his dad as a stiff goodbye.
You nodded in agreement before taking a handful of candy from a nearby bowl. “Well, now there’s no reason to stay.”
Spinning on your heel, the two of you headed for the exit, somehow not caring but all too aware of the eyes on you at the same time. Before reaching the door, Shouto grabbed two bowls of candy in the reception area and walked out the door with it, everyone too stunned to say anything about it. You walked into the parking lot smothering fits of laughter the whole way, still in disbelief about the events that had just occurred.
“For you,” said Shouto as the two of you reached his car, still carrying the candy in his arms.
You choked out a laugh at the audacity of it all. He even took the bowls? The candies were free for the guests, but you weren’t so sure the bowls were. “I… Thanks, Shouto. I’m never going to run out of these candies now!”
“Hm,” was the approving noise he made.
When you both got into his car, he looked at you before turning the engine on. Now that the adrenaline had passed, he had a much more solemn expression on his face.
“Y/N,” he said, sounding apologetic, “I’m really sorry about my dad. And about the gossip. You didn’t deserve any of that.”
“It’s okay. It wasn’t too bad, and none of it was your fault! Besides,” you said, giving his hand on the gear shift a squeeze. After pulling out of the parking spot, he let go of the stick and interlocked his fingers with yours. “I had the best date ever to make up for it.”
“I have to disagree with that because I think I was the one with the best date.” Shouto smiled playfully, squeezing your hand in his.
“Agree to disagree, then.”
He chuckled and you grinned. Tonight was going great until the last hour’s mishap, and while it was uncomfortable and disheartening to hear gossip about you from people who were supposed to be sophisticated, grown adults, you weren’t lying when you told Shouto he was enough to make up for all that bullshit. You were grateful for him standing up for you and basically saying fuck rich people and charity galas in front of them all.
Oh, and for getting you enough candy to last you at least a few months, of course.
He really was the best date ever.
As Shouto signaled to get out of the structure, he asked, “Now, should I take you back to your home or…?”
You shook your head, already knowing where he was going with this (and very much liking it). “Hmm,” you drawled, pretending to think about it. “How about we go back to your place to finally finish what we started?”
“I thought you’d never ask.”
In all honesty, you were quite surprised yourself that you asked. But, damn, would you be glad you did.

summary: 5 years ago, the avengers lost. half the world may have been taken away, but Y/N’s entire world faded to nothing in their arms. they would do anything to bring everyone back, most especially the love of their life. whatever it takes.
Part 1
Word Count: 3.7K words

Tumblr media
5 years. 5 years without seeing her bright, pearly white smile. 5 years without her sarcastic comments and snarky remarks. 5 years without her messy red hair sprawled across her pillow as she sleeps peacefully beside you. 5 years without her warm hugs as her lavender scented perfume invades your senses. 5 years without long nights of cuddling in each other’s arms as you watched the cheesy romcoms of your choice. 5 years without waking up to her playfully kissing your face. 5 years without her standing by your side during missions. 5 years without your little dinner dates that you both decided to go on whenever you both had the time. 5 years without her teasing kisses against your neck that made you laugh as hard as ever before. 5 long, long years without Natasha Romanoff.
Everyday without her was agonizingly slow. Every part of your shared apartment a constant reminder of your failure. Your failure to protect the world, the failure of protecting your world. Natasha always ensured your safety and protection when you needed her most, and the time she needed you; you astronomically failed her. Your heart ached every night as you fell asleep, even more so in the mornings. The mornings were the worst as you would reach over to her side of the bed, expecting to feel her peaceful form breathing steadily next to you, but you are only met with the cold white sheets of your once shared bed. The cold sheets a heartbreaking contrast to her warm body.
You didn’t get a single night of uninterrupted rest, as the memory of Natasha fading to nothing in your arms would replay over and over like a song stuck in your head. You cried the first time you returned home on that fateful day. The walls of your apartment holding the memories of happier times, when she was still alive. Her coffee cup that she never washed and left on the counter every morning still sitting where she left it that very day. You didn’t have the heart to move it. You didn’t dare to move any of her things, leaving them where she had placed them. You wore all of her hoodies though, as they still held her scent. However, you went through all of her hoodies quickly, her scent fading away just like she had. You considered not staying in the apartment, the memory of her making it hard to breathe within the confines of your shared space. But, you didn’t have the heart to leave it either. Leaving your home felt like leaving her, although your true home was her.
You tried to hold out hope though. Every single day you would go to the Avengers Compound and oversee any occurrences. You would communicate with any avengers that were not in New York or simply not on earth such as Captain Marvel, Rocket, Rhodes, and Okoye. You got consumed by your need to compensate for the failure that changed your life and absolutely wrecked your self-esteem. Although you were stuck in the past, some of the other avengers tried to move past it. Tony and Pepper brought a beautiful daughter named Morgan into the world, you were so happy for them, albeit a bit envious. Steve joined a support group, Clint was.... somewhere doing lord knows what. But you remained in the compound, constantly ignoring your own well-being, unable to stomach the failure and desperately trying to find something to hold out hope. However, your stubbornness was not for naught, as one day, while Steve visited you at the Compound, Scott Lang appeared at the front of the Compound. As he explained about Quantum Physics and the possibility of time travel, hope made its way back to you full force. You could all quite possibly make things right again. This spark of hope didn’t ignite within you only, but it also coursed through the remaining avengers when they were informed of the insane, but good idea of time travel.
——————————————————————————
Time travel. That’s our only hope of restoring what used to be. It sounds absolutely insane, but it’s the only option we have. Just the fact that there even is an option, is a miracle. Tony took a little bit of time to be on board with the idea, but he came around and now all the avengers stand together on the platform. Clint and Rhodey were set to go to Vormir. You, Tony, Banner, and Steve were to go to New York. Nebula went to Morag, Thor and Rocket went to Asgard while Scott stayed behind. What felt like hours for the team, was only a minute in real time. As you all made it back to the present, you looked around at the entire team. “Did we get them all?” You turn to your right and look at Banner. “You mean to tell me this actually worked?” You asked with a wide smile. Suddenly, a thud is heard to your left.
The entire team looks at Rhodes, he is soaked and it is then you notice Clint’s absence. “Rhodey? Where’s Clint?” You ask nervously. Rhodes just looks up at the team with sorrow evident in his eyes. The whole room knew what that meant as it fell silent, you dropped to your knees. You were as close to Clint as Nat was, given he was your girlfriend’s best friend. Your soul was absolutely crushed by the news, and the fact that someone would have to tell his family about his sacrifice to bring everyone back was heart crushing. However, Clint’s death only fueled the motivation to get this over with once and for all. No one had time to truly mourn as now that the team retrieved the stones, the stones just needed to be placed into the gauntlet.
However, this was not the hardest part, no. The hardest part was figuring out who should actually snap their fingers. Thor, Tony, and yourself offered to do the snap, but Banner immediately intervened. “It’s gotta be me. You saw what those stones did to Thanos. It almost killed him. None of you could survive.” He said solemnly. “How do we know you will?” You asked him seriously. “We don’t, but the radiation is mostly gamma. It’s like, I was made for this.” He finished off, and everyone in the room begrudgingly agreed. Unfortunately, before Banner could even put his hands on the gauntlet, the compound was attacked by a huge explosion, sending everyone flying in different directions, some knocked out by the impact and buried beneath rubble.
——————————————————————————
You wake up with a groan, you entire body is aching. You slowly open your eyes and take in your surrounds. You are buried beneath the concrete of the compound. The once magnificent architectural building, now a destroyed foundation. You look to your right and notice that water is flooding into the area where you, Rhodes, and Rocket are trapped. You noticed that Rocket and Rhodes are both trapped under a piece of cement and you use your powers to lift it off of them before dropping it back onto the ground with a grunt.
You speak into comms, “Is anyone there? We’re trapped and are unable to get out of here. I can hold off the water, but I can’t get us back to the surface.” Your powers are strong, but it will take a great deal of energy to get yourself, Rhodes, and Rocket out of here. You have no clue how deep you guys are below the surface. But you could at least hold off the water until someone is able to save you all. Scott replies and says “I’m on my way, I’ll get you guys.” And you mumble a “thanks” before asking another question, “How on earth did this happen?” you ask this as you use your powers to form some sort of blockade to keep the water from drowning you all. Scott suddenly appears, going back to his regular size and says “Nebula was compromised. You guys better hang onto something,” as he turns into a giant and breaks you all out of the concrete cage you were held in.
As you all return to the surface, Scott places the three of you on the ground. You take notice of the state of Steve, Tony, and Thor. They are badly beaten as Thanos cowers over them. Your eyes widen as you notice the ships approaching behind Thanos, along with his army of thousands. You, Rocket, Rhodey, (and Gamora??) together, ready to attack. You have no time to question Gamora’s sudden seeming resurrection as you notice Banner is the only one missing from the bunch, nowhere to be seen. You turn to everyone as you point at the gauntlet in Gamora’s arms and speak “Protect that gauntlet at all costs, don’t let him get to it. As soon as Banner is spotted, give it to him so he can do the snap and end this, once and for all. Understand?” Everyone nods in acknowledgement at your words.
A sense of deja vu hits you as you turn to face the impending battle. Once again you all are drastically outnumbered, you all must stand and fight against Thanos once more. The only differences being that you all are 5 years older, half of the universe’s population is gone, and Natasha is not by your side. The entire team is angered that this happened in the first place and the desire and will to defeat the mad titan is as strong as its ever been. You all failed to protect the world and your loved ones once, you all refused to lose this battle again. You all have something to fight for. You all attack and after what felt like hours of fighting Thanos’ army, you notice Scott running with the gauntlet, and your eyes widen as Thanos makes his way towards Scott. You quickly throw the enemies you were dealing with, with the flick of your hand and rush for the titan head-on.
Using your vibrant blue powers, you strike Thanos with a powerful beam of energy. Thanos tries to block himself but is a little too late as he’s sent flying back. “You took everything from me.” You say angrily and with a vengeful conviction as your eyes turn blue and your blue powers waver across your hands, levitating you a few feet off the ground. The titan stares at you as he stands and says “I don’t even know who you are.” You look at him and tilt your head, and reply with a dangerous calmness, “You will.” You then end up encasing Thanos, holding him up high in the air, your powers acting as blue hands. You squeeze him with all the strength you can conjure up and start to rip off his armor without laying a finger on him. “Rain fire!” The titan exclaimed to his servant. “But sire, our troops.” “Just do it!” Thanos screams. Unfortunately, you were so caught up in your rage that you failed to notice what Thanos was saying. You were soon knocked out with a powerful blast from a ship above you. Your grip on Thanos no more as you flew across the field and were knocked unconscious.
——————————————————————————
You wake up and groggily try to take in your surroundings. Your entire team beat to the ground. Banner, Scott, and Clint are unconscious, and the rest of the team are too weakened to move. Captain Marvel was also here, when she got here? You have no idea, but that doesn’t matter as she was knocked out as well. However, at least the giant ships and Thanos’ army had been taken out. You guys did impressively well considering how outnumbered you all were. You look away from your battered teammates beside you and you feel panic wash over you. Above you, the massive titan stands, placing the gauntlet on his hand. No. He CANNOT get that gauntlet, you think in a panic. However, your body is too weak to get up, you still try to stand with every ounce of strength that’s left in your body, but to no avail. All of a sudden, you feel a tingling sensation from your hands that you have never felt before.
You look at your hands and notice little sparks of electricity forming. This has never ever happened before, your powers are a dark blue and are more like laser beams than sparks. What is happening? As you stared at your hands, you failed to notice Mjölnir rising beside Thor. Mjölnir abruptly launches itself into your hand, and you suddenly feel a surge of electricity flow through your veins, giving you a spark of energy. The people who are still conscious are shell-shocked as they had all tried and failed to wield the mighty hammer. You yourself had even failed to lift Mjölnir all those years ago before the Ultron situation, but now here you were, worthy and determined to win this battle. As you attempt to stand once more, Thor joyfully exclaims “I knew it!” At Thor’s words, Thanos stomps on Thor, successfully knocking the Asgardian God out cold.
You rise to your feet, the only thing on your mind being that you need to bring Natasha back. You charge at Thanos, rising off the ground as your dark blue powers mixed with the lightning of mjölnir radiate off of you. You struck the titan with a powerful, concentrated hit with Mjölnir before using up the most power you ever have. You manage to do damage to Thanos, but with the gauntlet on he manages to use the stones to fight against your own powers. As he hits you, he fails to notice you exchange the gauntlet with the stones, with another gauntlet that he failed to notice lying on the ground. As your body is flung like a ragdoll across the floor, you look up as Thanos says “I... am inevitable.” And he snaps his fingers, but nothing happens. He, along with everyone else looks confused as he does this. All of them were puzzled, except for you.
You get on your knees and place the real gauntlet on. The energy so powerful as it courses through your veins, it’s an intense burn as if your blood was made of fire, pumping through every part of your body. You look around at the team, the people you have grown to love and call a family. You know that this will be the end of you, but you are content with that. What better way to go than saving the world and bringing the love of your life back? The team seems aware of your fate as well, the sadness evident on the faces of the broken down avengers. It hurt them, but they knew it had to be done. They couldn’t stop you, even if they tried. You already had the gauntlet on and you had made up your mind. After one last glance at your family, you focus back on Thanos, who stares at you in shock. A human wielding the stones, that was a sight for sore eyes. The snap almost killed Thanos the first time, imagine now? You have powers of your own, yes, but you’re still a human. You take a deep breath, your mind is racing as it is taken over by thoughts of Natasha. How you’ll never get to see her red hair and green eyes sparkle again, how you’ll never hear her raspy laugh that warms you up inside, and how you’ll never have the future you both had always wanted together. But you remind yourself that this is all for her, and that was the final push you needed to follow through with this plan.
You stare Thanos dead in the eye again as you shakily say “I... Am...” you envision Natasha and her big bright smile as you finally say “an Avenger.” And with the snap of your fingers, a bright light consumes your body and radiates across the field. All you hear is the ringing in your ears and all you can focus on is the burning of your charred body. The conscious team members gather around you, they are all speaking to you but you can’t fully hear what they’re saying. They sound far away even though they’re right in front of you. You watch as Thanos and his little servants disappear into dust, just like half of the population did 5 years ago. You release a heavy sigh of relief at the sight.
You look back to Steve who’s directly in front of you. He reaches into his pocket and dials a number, and when he turns the phone towards you, you notice the contact name; Natasha. Steve’s eyes widen as the redhead actually answers her phone, it worked. He however, tried to swallow his shock as he let’s her know that you’ll be put on the line. He doesn’t have the heart to inform her of your condition. You use every muscle in your body just to reach out for the phone and grasp it in your hand. “Hello? Y/N, baby?? Where are you?? What happened??” You smile widely at the sound of her deep, raspy voice as your eyes slowly start to close. The team panics as they try to convince you to keep your eyes open just a little longer, Natasha’s voice sounding more concerned and alarmed at the coaxing of the team. We did it, we really did it... she’s okay... it’s okay... is your final thought as your eyes close even further. The darkness is so tempting and you find yourself falling deeper and deeper into it, until you’re consumed by it. Never to see the light again.
——————————————————————————
2 weeks later
At your funeral, Nat was suspiciously devoid of emotion as the ceremony commenced. It was so weird for the team to see and they were genuinely worried. Natasha was always sure to not make her emotions known, it’s how she was trained as an assassin, but to show no emotion after losing the love of her life? Definite cause for concern. After the beautiful ceremony and burial, the team all returned to Tony’s cabin, he let the team know that there was something he needed to share with them. Tony stands before the team in his living room and places his iron man helmet on the mantle. He clears his throat before he begins, “Before the time heist, Y/N approached me and asked me a favor. They borrowed my iron man helmet and asked me to play this recording if things went south. So, this is me fulfilling their final wish.”
You appear as a hologram, sitting on a chair in your time heist suit. “So, if you’re watching this.. that means that I’m... yanno” and you make a throat slicing motion with a little laugh. You then realize that the people watching this will most likely not find humor in your little joke and immediately stop laughing. “I hope that in watching this, that means that we succeeded in bringing everyone back. It’s all we have been hoping and praying for, for the past 5 years. And I pray to God... or to Thor... that it worked out.” You actually laugh at your terrible attempt at a joke. Everyone in the room laughs at your corniness with tears in their eyes.
“If we did win, that must mean that you’re here Natasha.” You pause and take a deep breath. At the mention of the redhead, the room falls silent as Nat watches intensely, desperate to hear what you have to say to her. You proceed, your voice wavering as you were overcome with emotion, “I’m so sorry that I had to leave you so soon. I’m so sorry that we’ll never have the chance to get married and have little rascals of our own running around a little farmhouse of our own in the middle of nowhere like we always dreamt of. But, the day you left me, those 5 long years ago, a part of me left with you. And I would do anything to get you back, and I’m sure I’ve proven that to be true if you’re seeing this.” You take another break as your voice starts cracking, as Natasha finally let a tear escape.
You suddenly stand up, and move over to the camera, staring directly into it with an intense gaze. “But Nat, baby, you have to listen to me when i say that this is not the end of the world. It may feel like it, but I promise you it’s not. Those 5 years without you, I felt as though I was drowning in grief and despair, but then hope made its way into my life when Scott suddenly appeared on the steps of the compound. And I promise you that you will have hope again, not for my return, but for happiness in your life again, without me.” At your words, Natasha shakes her head furiously as silent tears steadily fall across her pale cheeks.
You giggle “I know you won’t believe me right now, but you will one day my love. You were wrong that day in Wakanda. You WILL survive this. You must move on eventually, as impossible as it sounds and as much as it kills me to say. Please do not give up on the world, don’t push everyone away, but let them in. I gave my life up so you could live yours, and I know you wouldn’t let my life go to waste.” You stop and look down at your watch. “I have to go now, if this time heist thing goes to plan, then everyone who vanished will return. God, I hope so.... I love you Natalia Alianovna Romanova.” You look down at your hands, and back up at the camera and say your final words.
“Remember...” you begin while moving closer to the helmet, “You could never lose me moya lyubov... I’m yours forever.” You smile tearily and the recording ends. Those last words were what finally did it for Natasha. All the emotion she was keeping bottled up broke loose and she had no control of the wheel of her emotions as she slammed head first into a breakdown. Natasha cried in sorrow as she mourned the possibilities that are no longer possible and screamed out in anguish for the unfulfilled promises of a happy, long life with you by her side.
The world had won, but Natasha had lost her world.

-Hotel For Demons- (Intro)
Tumblr media
Pairing: eventual ot7 x reader; the first few chapters are very Yoongi x reader centric.
Warnings/tags:  Stripping, teasing, gambling, mentions of some dark/mob activity
( eventual )Smut-angst-fluff
Summary:  You work as a stripper at an extremely secretive casino resort that caters to people of a dark nature.  You are used to strange and ignoring your fears.  Yet one night a man, more scary and more intriguing than any other seems to grow fond of you while you dance.  You play a game with him that takes you away from everything you’ve known and into an even darker world than you’d ever known...and now he’s calling you his wife.
a/n: (this is very unedited sry for typos and things if they appear) taken some inspiration from the anime ‘Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits.’  It starts out a bit dark but it's going to be a lot more lighthearted in some chapters.  Once I get the initial set up to the story, this fic will just be a bunch of short episode like stories with y/n having different moments with each member or a few members, not always directly connected to future chapters or the chapter before, just set in the same world.  Let me know what you think!!
------
It felt to the men in the crowd like they were hypnotized watching you.
You were the one hypnotized though, by the music, and by the thudding of the bass in rap song you’d picked for your dance vibrating through the club.
You could feel it in your chest, each thump pushing your hips forward as you grinded against the pole, sticking your ass out as you jumped onto the pole and spun.  You swore you heard one man in the crowd gasp as you did.
The purple stage lights flashed to blue as the song hit a slower beat.  You slid down the pole slowly, your hands gently moving down to the floor with the rest of your body.
As you continued on with your floor work you could practically feel the eyes of one man in particular sitting on you with an almost unblinking stare.
You could only see his eyes, the lower half of his face was covered by a black mask with a pattern that made it look like blood was dripping all over it in a very cartoonish way.
It wasn’t uncommon for people to wear masks like that here, but his was quite an interesting choice.
You could see bits of black hair peeking through his black jacket’s hood, which was also strange.  He seemed so secretive with his appearance.  Maybe that's what was giving him the confidence to stare at you so obviously.
Most men tended to get shy when you stared them down.
 No...maybe he really hadn’t blinked once…
You realized you’d been focusing on him a bit too long and quickly danced your way to facing away from him.
Though you couldn’t escape the powerful gaze that you felt on your backside the entire time.
You knew the ending of your song was coming up and you took to the pole again to finish the dance.
It might have been obvious to everyone in the club that whether it was intentional or subconscious, you had started dancing for him.
When you ended your dance, the last step you took had you facing right at him, chest heaving from putting a bit of extra effort into your moves than usual.
You weren’t sure why, it didn’t make sense.  You never usually got this worked up over someone in the audience, but his attention was exciting.
Some men clapped, and a few threw some money on the stage.  You gave a twinkle wave to no one in general as you turned to walk back to the dressing rooms behind the stage.
The girl that would come out and collect your money off the stage for you squeezed your shoulder as you walked by and gave you a smile.
“I haven’t seen you perform like that in forever!” she praised loudly over the song that was playing while they set up for the next dancer.
You mouthed a thank you and from the corner of your eye you caught the mysterious man standing up from the table and leaving.
Your heart dropped a little bit.  You had a second song still later that a part of you had hoped he’d have stuck around for.  He hadn’t even paid you.  He paid the entry fee to enter the strip club area of the casino resort, bought one drink, watched just your song, and left.
It was strange.
You were used to odd people.  Sometimes even dangerous people.  The casino you worked at catered to a very particular crowd of very rich men.
They weren’t the type of rich men you’d see on the news or in magazines.  They were all a very secretive type.  You were told when you’d been hired two years ago that you weren’t ever to ask the men about what they did for a living.
It always made you wonder, but it never bothered you.  The amount of money in their wallets was enough to make you not need to read too deeply into any of it.  Why mess up a good thing.
It's not that you only cared about money...but everyone has their amount.  Everyone has a number to where they’ll turn their eyes the other way.
At least that's what your boss had told you the first time he’d sat you down in his office and handed you a blank check with his name already signed on it.
The day that you’d seen something that you never want to think about again.
Now you don’t have to.
Aside from the anomaly that was that man today, the diamonds on your wrists that would dance while you did were enough of a distraction from the things you’d seen.
With some of the things you’d witnessed go down in this casino you were glad that your number was as high as it was.
When it was well past 3 in the morning and your shift was done you put on your coat and began to walk towards the main entrance of the building to leave.  Almost everyone besides those who worked there had left for the night, either returning to their hotel rooms or getting up to some business you’d rather not think about.
Just before you’d walked past the last of the blackjack tables you heard a voice call out to you.
“y/n right?”
A chill ran down your spine.  You never used your real name at the club, it was a rule that you’d never tell customers your real name.
Your head whipped around to see that same man from earlier sat down alone at the table, shuffling through a deck of cards.
On closer look the cards were definitely not ones from your casino, almost as if he’d brought his own with him, another rule broken.
“No…” You lied. “You must be confused.”
You heard a chuckle from behind the mask. “I’m never confused.  Sit down.”
He spoke so sternly and with a low gravel that spiked some fear into your body.
But you sat anyway.  Maybe it was fear of what he’d do if you said no, but more likely it was that you were still wildly intrigued by this strange man.
“How do you know me?” You spoke as you sat down in the seat across from where he sat in the dealers chair.
“That's not important right now.” He muttered. “Want to play a game?” He spoke those words with such a smooth and beautiful compelling tone.
“Why not.” You decided, shifting in your seat and trying to get a better eye on the cards he was still shuffling through.
You wished you could see behind his mask, but all you could see was a mischievous glint in his eyes.
He laid out three cards in front of you face down.  They were black with the images of blood dripping down them, the same as his mask.
“Pick one.” He demanded.
“Shouldn’t I know the rules first?” You cocked an eyebrow at him.
“Rules don’t really matter here do they. Surely you know that better than anyone.” He replied.
“There are some rules that matter.” You debated.  “Like you calling me by my real name.”
“Not to me.” He then tapped on the table in front of him with a closed fist. “Pick a card.”
You sighed and figured ‘What's the worst that could happen.’
You stared at the cards in front of you, not sure if it even made a difference which one you’d pick, but still, you studied them before finally pointing to the one in the middle.
He then reached out and flipped the card, revealing a very detailed drawing of two golden rings intertwined together.
He seemed to sigh a big exhale of relief.
“Good.” he muttered.
“That's good? For me, or you? What game are we playing here!” You were starting to get frustrated.
He then flipped over the other two cards, revealing one that was a painting of a gravestone, and one that was a painting of flames.
“Good for both of us.” You could almost hear the smile in his voice, though you were only growing more confused.
“Pick up your card.  Don’t touch the other ones.” He ordered.
With a small huff you listened to him, grabbing the card with the rings on it.
“In both hands.”
“Why?”
“Just do it.” he seemed to growl in an almost inhuman way.
Your fear now made your blood run cold, you didn’t want to anger him so you did as he said instantly.
As soon as you did, you felt a rush of wind hit you from behind.  It was so strong the other two cards flew off the table.  The man stood there with his arms crossed and started laughing a maniacal laugh.
The whole table then seemed to start to spin, you wanted to grip onto something but your hands seemed to be glued to the card you held.
Everything got faster and more blurry, everything except him.  Before you could comprehend how, it seemed that the whole place you’d been in was starting to fade away into a bright white light.
As the spinning movements quickened you squeezed your eyes shut tightly and let out a small scream.
It only lasted a few more seconds before you felt everything still.
“Open your eyes.” His voice spoke to you much softer.
Slowly you did, opening up to a sight you were not expecting to see.
You were now in a large room with wooden floors and a wooden ceiling.  Lots of art and architecture that seemed to be at least a thousand years before your own. It was very decorative and ornate, it seemed almost like a palace.
“Welcome to your home my wife.”

How about Section 1 for a ship of your choice? :)
Thank you so much for asking!!!! I did this set for Anthea and Hythlodaeus!
Warning for spoilerish things throughout for FFXIV!
1. How did they first meet?
They met at the Bureau of Architecture when Anthea fell into him after being bumped by a rushing person (yes they found it embarrassing). They were there to bring forth their latest accidental creation and was then unknowingly assigned to meet with Hythlodaeus who would then invite Anthea to a dinner with Venat and Hades as they were staying the night in a city they weren’t really familiar with.
2. What was their first impression of each other?
Anthea found him to be the most beautiful and politest man they’d ever met! He just has an air about him that makes one feel at ease. Hythlodaeus’ impression of them was they were very humble and full of life and a love for it despite their wallflower-ness. Meeting them in person really just made their file make much more sense seeing as Anthea had plenty of “mistakes”.
3. Who felt romantic feelings first?
This probably happened around the same time for both of them with Anthea taking a little longer as they didn’t have the same kind of relationships that Hythlodaeus had around him. It didn’t even really occur to Anthea until someone made a passing comment on how much more willing they were to go to the city when they hated to do so prior to the creation of the Elpis flower.
4. Did either of them try to resist their feelings?
Anthea just a little more being hesitant in life in general and there’s this kind of like “Well he’s just too cool to ever be interested in someone like me” despite that man being very much as humble as them and believing that he also isn’t good enough for someone like them.
5. What would their lives be like if they had never met?
Their lives were always destined to end one way so it doesn’t really matter. Anthea would be the most effected by this as they wouldn’t ever have found their purpose, been lonely staying as a researcher on Elpis, and would have been one of the many souls sacrificed instead of becoming the Watcher on the moon.
6. What was their “flirting stage” like?
Anthea kind of bumbling around trying to figure out just how to get this man’s attention while not being embarassing, Hythlodaeus being much more at ease and not even aware until thinking about it later and equating it to the skill being something else he’s useless in. Really it was a lot of conversations and helping the other in different things, with the occasional “accidental” creation to have an excuse to see each other again.
7. How do their friends and family feel about them as a couple?
Hades could do without their sunshine and sweetness thank you very much, six feet away please. In all seriousness though he actually likes them as a couple very much, they complement each other, he hasn’t ever seen his friend happier, and finds Anthea the most rational of the group (meaning they laugh the least when he becomes the butt of a joke, which is often). While they never become best friends like he is with Hythlodaeus, they are someone that he feels some of the most grief over as they chose to be against him despite also having desires to bringing back Hythlodaeus.
Venat adores them and still pokes fun at the fact that Hythlo was so friendly that Anthea believed he was trying to set them up with Hades. She does feel guilt after the memory wipe because she can’t bring them into the fold with her knowledge of the future especially because it pains her to see when Hythlo doesn’t remember but Anthea remembers Azem’s familiar being with them in that time. Its this knowledge that makes sure she lets them be as happy as they can be. When Anthea asks to help her, Venat gives them the job of the Watcher because she knows how soft spoken they are, how kind, how serious they will take this duty, how much they loved Hythlodaeus and what he believes in making them the perfect person to help in shepherding the souls when it’s time back into the aetherial sea. She also knows that they were a reason that Hythlodaeus sacrificed himself to bring forth Zodiark and if given the opportunity those two wouldn’t want to be where they couldn’t keep an eye on the other for what was going to be a very very long time.
Azem, even while sundered, adores their soft love. There’s something just so comforting about being around them that it stays with their soul so their shards on the Source at least seek out that same feeling without realizing it. They loved to bring Anthea flowers and watch as they would admire them, eventually teaching them how to make crowns with them that were placed on Hythlodaeus who would talk about them in length when he helped them on the travels around the star with such a smile that grows when those two finally see each other once more. When their shards find them again post-Endwalker its the only time they are granted an original memory from their life as Azem.

If you were going to win an award that afternoon, it’d be for attire, not confidence. Your expertly crafted golf outfit was the only thing willing your feet forward once you parked your car in front of Senior’s golf course.
Black women and men dressed like modern Jet magazine ads waltzed in and out of the clubhouse while you scanned the area for your party. You’d been to your fair share of golf courses, but none as exquisite as The National. Marble accents complemented modern brass finishes and unbeatable views of the city. The desire to take photos for your father was almost too much to shake, but you managed to play it cool. Acting out of place was surely some type of faux pas for the wealthy.
Across the way, Senior sat at the bar sipping a glass of water while thumbing through a newspaper. His furrowed brow was identical to Yahya’s whenever he was knee-deep in work or a good book. The mental comparison made you smile before ushering in a tinge of sadness. For two people so undeniably similar, they were miles apart physically and mentally.
You navigated through groups of young and old alike on the way to the bar.
“You made it on time,” Senior spoke without looking up from a story on education budget cuts.
“I made it with time to spare.”
“You don’t get praise for doing what’s right.”
“Think of how much better things would be if we did.”
Senior paused his reading to take a deep breath and shake his head. You mentally berated yourself for overstepping so soon. Not even five minutes into the outing and you had already committed an avoidable infraction
Yahya I prolonged the unbearable silence as he continued to read through another article, reading each line painstakingly slow while you watched in agony.
“I apologize. That was unnecessary.”
“I’ll ask you again,” he spoke, finally looking away from the newspaper to study your face. “Let’s leave the character right here. We’re here for a purpose, so grab your clubs and follow me to the first hole. I hope your game is as good as you are at running your mouth.” Taking his retort in stride, you quickly grabbed your set of clubs and followed with no objections. “After you.”
Senior found himself immediately impressed though he wouldn’t verbalize his feelings. He watched you breeze through each hole with near expert precision, opening a series of questions at hole 5 during casual small talk.
“Where’d you say you were from again?”
“A tiny town in South Carolina that you probably wouldn’t know.”
“Try me,” he answered while taking stock of his position on the fairway.
“Anderson, South Carolina. Home of Larry Nance and the great Chadwick Boseman.”
“Can’t forget James Kennedy, Young Lady.”
You cocked your head back in surprise. “What you know about Radio? I mean outside of what the movie says?”
Senior remained quiet long enough to take a hard swing. The loud “whiff” of his driver slicing through crisp, clean air didn’t match the stroke’s output. Both of you watch the golf ball sail high into the air before making a landing well short of the intended destination. Senior shook his head at the miscalculation before turning to answer your question.
“Black folks from all over are connected, even without all that Snapgram and Facebook foolishness.”
“I could argue it’s helped, right? How else would you be able to share your granddaughter’s first steps with the whole family?”
“In photo albums. You might not remember those, but they did us just fine.”
“Yeah, but it’s instantaneous conversation and information. Who wouldn’t want that?”
“Maybe instantaneous conversation is the problem. We aren’t making enough time to stop and really think about what we’re saying to each other.”
“Mm.” You let the conversation naturally taper before following Senior to his golf cart. The rolling hills provided enough scenery to keep you interested while you sorted the words in your head.
“I think we may have started off on the wrong foot.” You spoke once the cart came to a full stop. Senior trailed behind in silence, gathering a new club while watching you examine the other golfers in the area.
“You’re rather observant.”
You chuckled and plucked a club from your bag. “I’ve been told. Yahya calls me Eagle Eye when I catch something he’s already talked about ten minutes ago.”
“It’s what his Big Mama used to call his Pop-Pop for the same thing. That man was notoriously late to the punchline.” The nostalgia in Yahya I’s voice caught you off guard though he didn’t see your minor fumble. Something in his retelling appealed to your sense of compassion in a way that you considered long gone when it came to him.
“Let’s not beat around the bush. You have an issue with my presence that we should discuss. Because I can assure you, I’m not going anywhere.”
“Bold,” Senior responded with a sarcastic laugh. He gestured to nothing in particular as you squared up to take a swing and nodded. “And direct. Continue.”
You took a moment to hit a line drive toward the green in the distance, using the movement as an outlet for the unexpected nerves churning your stomach. Both of you quietly watch the golf ball for its final resting place before you turned to speak.
“You are extremely hard to please, and it is literally ruining your family. Yahya does everything in his power, and, excuse my French, you don’t seem to give a fuck. Why is that?”
“What makes you think that my love isn’t what makes me push him to be the best that he can? It may not be the fluff and frills you’re used to in your home, but it’s what he needs to get him to his potential.”
“Did it help you?”
Senior mistakenly allowed a quick moment of confusion to take over his features. “I’m here, aren’t I?”
“You tell me. When’s the last time you enjoyed a laugh with your family or felt like you could just...be? You’re carrying a weight that is crushing the people around you, and you don’t even see it.”
“You don’t…” Senior caught his words and bottled them behind his lips. He took a deep breath as he approached his golf ball and took a half-hearted swing. Noticing his misstep, he shook his head. “I’m from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My father, Yahya’s Pop-Pop, moved my mother and me to a shotgun shack to find work when things weren’t quite shaking out back home. He was in and out of trouble and such. Couldn’t get right, but he had a natural knack for building and design.”
A nearby group of golfers erupted into laughter, helping to break up some tension.
“So architecture’s been in the family for a while,” you asked. Yahya I curled the corner of his lips into a far-off smile.
“A long, long time. It got us out of that shack when my siblings came along and into a house with our own rooms and a backyard. But, my father was a hard man. Hard to please, you know,” he laughed, making a reference to your earlier words. “He wanted the best from me, and he made damn sure he got it. I needed that to get my head out of the clouds.”
“You also needed some reassurance.”
“Perhaps. But, what’s done is done. I look at what I’ve built with no complaints, especially when it comes to my boys. I couldn’t be more proud of the men they’ve become.”
Senior’s proud smile almost looked foreign on his face. You’d never seen more than an indifferent expression or the slight twinge of anger smoldering behind his eyes.
Leaning on your club, you kept your eyes forward to gaze out over the course.
“Yahya would love to hear that. I don’t know if you know this, but he is desperately searching for your approval. There is not enough praise from me or anyone else that could replace knowing that you’re proud of him. Yet, as much as he would like to tell you these things himself, he’s afraid that you’ll think less of him for being vulnerable.”
“I could never think less of the boy. Tough love is still love.”
“Maybe for you,” you added, shrugging. “But, what good is continuing this cycle if it’s hurting the children you claim to love and the grandchildren after them?”
Senior dropped his head in thought before looking up with an unreadable expression. “Deuce will be fine. He’s all the best parts of his mother. I...I’m confident he’ll figure out fatherhood on his own despite my shortcomings. We raised him well.”
“Forgive me if I’m overstepping -”
“That has never stopped you before, young lady.” His light-hearted chuckle invited you to follow suit.
“Fair point,” you laughed. “So, let me cut to the chase. Allowing Yahya to just ‘figure things out’ is a passive existence. Yahya says you’re constantly reminding him to take things into his own hands. Sounds like you should take your own advice. Be the parts of your father that you needed at 33.”
Instead of acknowledging your advice, Senior twirled his club in his hand on the way to the golf cart. He maintained an impenetrable poker face that even the most skilled readers couldn’t interpret. You silently hoped that at least some of your words had made it through his thick skull, but you chose to let the discussion meet a natural end.
As he started the cart, Senior turned to you and smiled. “How the hell you learn to swing like that? I know it wasn’t in Anderson.”
“Hey, we play a little golf here and there!”
“Where? Out in the woods?”
“No, out in the Bayou like you did.”
A small smirk crept across your face as Yahya I chuckled at your joke. He sounded identical to Yahya, full of mirth and beautiful melodies.
“The ole Bayou,” he repeated in a thick accent. “You ain’t seen a place more beautiful in your life.”
“Maybe Yahya and I could visit one day.”
He quickly looked over and shrugged. “Maybe. For now, you focus on defending this lead. I think I’m getting back into my rhythm.”
Senior couldn’t make a convincing comeback, but he did show glimpses of a softer, more personable disposition. He cracked jokes on occasion and asked questions that turned the conversation from a therapy session to banter between associates. Your mind traveled to the possibility of civil family dinners or vacations during the ride home. Though it seemed silly to create imaginary scenarios after one conversation, you couldn’t help the urge to see a better future.
Your happiness helped you float into your shared apartment, making Yahya smile when he caught a glimpse of your wide grin and short skirt.
“Damn, girl,” he hollered from the couch with Leche cradled in his arms. “If Tiger was out there cheeked up like that, I might’ve paid a little more attention to the golf network.”
“Oh, really?”
Your raised eyebrow made Yahya kiss his teeth once he caught on to the joke. “You know what I meant. Where you been anyway?”
“Oh, I was just out doing a little golfing...with your dad.”
“Right. That was today, huh?”
Even Yahya’s best attempt at feigning interest, his question came out in a flat drone typically used on annoying coworkers. You dropped your purse and keys against a nearby barstool on the way to his spot on the couch.
“It was today. I think we had a good time,” you answered as you slid your arms around his neck from behind, placing a gentle kiss behind his ear. “He didn’t yell at me.”
“You must’ve kissed his ass the entire time.”
“No. We talked about how great I am at golf. I mean, I kicked his ass.”
“Good on you, baby girl. Bring honor to our house.” In a surprise maneuver, Yahya pulled you over the couch and into the space beside him. “Is that all?”
Silence blanketed the room, allowing the college basketball game in the background to have center stage. You considered your options carefully, weighing the pros of a potential argument against a peaceful Saturday indoors. Yahya turned his attention back to the television as he waited for a response.
“Did you hear me, baby? He didn’t say anything rude to you, did he?”
“No!” You blurted. Taking a deep breath, you slowly slid the remote off the coffee table and pressed the power button. Yahya blinked twice at his reflection on the black television screen before turning to you for answers. Your fingers danced across his thighs to interlock with his long digits.
“I think...I think we need to have a real talk about your dad.”

The Middle of the Mission pt 3 of wysne
Kakashi x reader
Masterlist
The moment the door closes to the Kage’s office you let out a long breath, “that.. Wasn’t what I thought it would be” he says after you exit the building and you chuckle “me either honestly, I assumed there  would be less babysitting.. At least we both have training with that too” you elbow him and he chuckles a little with you, it’s been a running joke between you for a while that sometimes teaching feels more like babysitting. You head back to the inn, the whole walk you felt unsure about the fact that you would probably be able to get two rooms now, your heart pleading for him to ask you to stay in the same room, but almost positive he won’t. When you get to the inn, you grab the door but stop when you see that he’s not beside you anymore, you turn back, you quirk your eyebrow and smile at him, “something wrong?” he clears his throat and his eyebrows furrow as he reaches out, taking your hand and pulling you with him down the street.
“Are you just hungry or maybe you wanted to talk?” you say after ordering, the dark corner booth of the nearly empty ramen shop providing you with a good amount of privacy. You look up into his eye, your (e/c) eyes unwavering as he stares back, you clasp and rest your hands on the table in front of you as you wait for him to speak.
“I wanted to ask you about sleeping arrangements” he says and you nod, you knew that was part of it, but the way you had been acting towards him has you thinking if he’d ask you what your problem was on the trip here.
You started this trip, afraid he didn’t care about you as much as you cared about him, and here you are in the middle of it, not caring if he didn’t care about you back, unwilling to stop caring about him even if he didn’t share your feelings.
“I don’t mind if we have to share a room again. But if we don’t and you want your own then that’s fine too. Your choice ‘Kashi” you say and smile as the waitress comes and sets down your ramen.
He nods slowly, you can tell there is a lot on his mind but you assume that he doesn’t want to talk about it during the mission. You quickly eat your ramen as he waits, when you finish you push your bowl away softly and then sigh happily and look back to his eyes, his eye that haven’t looked away from you this whole time. “I’m going to go get a room and you can decide if you want to stay with me again or not” he gives a small nod, his hands raising to move his mask as you stand, as you pass him you place your hand on his shoulder “I know there’s more we need to talk about Kakashi, after we finish this mission, I’ll buy you dinner and we can talk”
You go to the inn again, the girl gives you a look when you walk in the door and you laugh “turns out we’re here for another night” she laughs “do you need another futon as well?” You shrug “I hope so, so let’s say yes just in case”  she laughs and nods, a look of absolute understanding in her eyes.
When you exit the inn you gasp as you almost hit someone with the door, “I’m so sorry! I didn’t see you!” You say and then laugh when you see it’s Kakashi. “No worries y/n” you smile sweetly with your eyes closed.
He clears his throat and you look back to him, “uhh. Room number?” His voice sounds a little nervous and you can’t help the way you beam at him, taking your hand and placing the key in his palm, your fingers brushing across his sent electricity up his arm “room 4. It has a better view of the east so the sunrise should be better tomorrow, hopefully we can enjoy it together again” you say and then release his hand, your cheeks starting to blush. “I would like that” his voice was so quiet you almost missed it but you didn’t, and your heartbeat raced like it wanted to leap into his hands.
You left as he went inside since you were unsure about his plans for the day and he didn't ask you to wait. You walked around the town, taking in the buildings, most were made differently here than they were in the leaf and you always had a small interest in architecture. When you were satisfied with what you’ve learned about this town you went to find the highest point in this village, since it was built into the side of a small mountain you ended up climbing one of the trees above one of the biggest of the clans houses, sitting cross legged as you watched the sunset, taking advantage of the peaceful moments of easy missions that didn’t involve fighting. You didn’t know what the trek home would be like but you could control your moment now and that’s what you did, but as lovely as this was you felt something was missing.
You felt his chakra presence but you couldn’t see him, a smile finding its way to your lips as you realize he dropped his guard just a small amount because he knew where you would be but didn’t want to search every tree. you dropped your guard just a little bit so he could sense your chakra and less than a second later he was sitting by your side, back against the trunk of the tree and hands on his knees, his thigh pressed into yours and your knees touching.
You lay your head against his shoulder since it was at the perfect height for you and ask “Am I getting predictable?” He laughs, the sound making your smile grow, “not at all, I just know you” you chuckle and nod “And I’m glad you do”  this was what was missing, you realized, spending this moment with someone you cared for. You didn’t talk again after that, you just sat together watching the sunset, your head on his shoulder and after a few moments he set his hand on your knee instead of his own, making your heart leap and your cheeks flush.
Your stomach growls when the sun is almost all the way gone, earning a chuckle from him. “Let’s get dinner” he says and squeezes your knee gently before standing and offering you his hand.
Dinner with him was nice, you got some food and brought it back to your room so you could have it just be you guys. It was like you could feel you were at the beginning of something sweet, all the laughs together and the way he let you eat with him with his mask off, it was another domestic moment you would cherish forever. If anyone could see you guys now they would probably think you’ve been together for years.
“I’m thinkingggg….” he cuts you off “the hot springs for the last time until we get home” you nod with a grin “exactly” the smile on his lips that you can see, you were so taken aback that you could actually see his emotions on his face, that he was so easy to read, and you were so blown away by his beauty, your cheeks were flushed the entire time.
The heat from the water made your body feel so relaxed, he sat a good ways away from you but you didn’t push him, the bath was empty and you had half a mind to think that he bribed the workers to keep it empty while you were in here together, but that would mean he cared about you and you weren’t really sure if he did yet. You open your eyes and raise your head when you hear him coming over to you, the way you felt his eyes on you this whole time you knew it would be soon.
You meet his eye and you see a little uneasiness, you smile warmly at him “could you..?” His hand touched his shoulder and you remembered the night “of course ‘Kashi. Come here” you moved so you were turned in the seat as he sits by you, his back towards you. You take your wash cloth and drag it across his shoulders slowly to wet his drying skin above the water, your smile grows as he lets out a relaxed sigh.
You place the cloth to the side and then work your fingers into his shoulder muscles, this time gently lifting up his arm a little until he rests it against his side so you could massage his biceps as well. You watch as goosebumps erupt over the back of his neck and shoulders, the only skin above the hot water, and you feel pleased. You work your fingers down his spine and he hums in approval, your fingers work across his ribs on either side before you keep them softly pressed to his abs just under his pecs and you rest your cheek against his warm shoulder on his back. “If you’re comfortable, I could massage your chest too, up to you” your voice is quiet and you sit like that with him for a few moments before his hands come to rest on top of yours “I’m afraid it might lead somewhere and we don’t have much time” you chuckle and your chest brushes up against his back and you feel him tense under your touch, his hands tightening against yours and you smirk “are you saying you wouldn’t like a chest massage?” you whisper and he groans “no, I’m saying I would like it too much for a hot spring” you laugh then, your stomach filling with butterflies at his miniscule confession, and then kiss the back of his neck as you gently pull your hands back. “I’ll meet you back at the inn” you say and he nods, keeping his eyes on the water in front of him as he listens to you leave, sure he’s caught glimpses of your body but this was a bathhouse for crying out loud and he was respectful, he didn't want to look at you unless you wanted him to.
You were looking up at the dark night sky, smiling at the stars as you made your way back to the inn, “didn’t wanna walk with me eh? I see how it is, feel me up and then leave. I get it” you laugh and look over to him, standing against the fence a little ways off, “if my memory serves me I asked to touch you more but someone told me they didn’t want me to” he falls in step with as you pass him, his soft chuckles making you smile wider. “Hey now, I never said I didn't want you to. Just that it wasn't a good idea given the circumstances” you shrug and stop, looking up at him as he stops in front of you “same thing basically” you lean in close and place your hand on his chest, “we’re always taking risks ‘Kashi what's one more?” you give him a cheeky grin and you can see how flustered he is reflecting back at you in his eye, he clears his throat, so flustered he didn’t know how to respond. You chuckle then drop your hand from his chest, instead taking his hand, and continuing your walk down the street “Come on, it’s still a little early and I want to read before we go to sleep”
You were watching him as he read his icha icha book, the slope of his nose, the shape of his lips and his Cupid’s bow, you were entranced. You felt like you shared a secret with him now and it made you even more special than just getting to see what he looks like under his mask, the fact that he is comfortable enough around you to not wear it with you all the time, it’s an indescribable sweet feeling in your heart. “The words are on the page, not on my face” he says, the corner of his mouth turning up in a small smirk and you blush, you could read him as easily as he reads his icha icha when he didnt wear a mask. “it’s not every day that I get the opportunity to look at such exquisite art” he laughs and his eyes flick up to you as he closes his book, his finger staying inside the pages to keep his place as he gives you his full attention “is this” he gestures to his face with his book “going to be too big of a distraction?” you chuckle “oh yes, it makes sense why you want to cover up, you’re so gorgeous it’s too big of a distraction, there would be absolute chaos every day if everyone knew” you watched as his smile widened just a bit and his cheeks grew light pink.
Your heart hammered against your ribs as you both sit looking at one another, drinking in each other’s presence, your smile matching his as you scoot forward on the bed to sit across from him, he raises his eyebrows at you, suddenly feeling nervous. “Can I ?” you whisper and raise your hand towards him, he nods and you hum softly as you cup his cheek, your other hand goes to rest over your heart, as if the action could somehow stop it from beating so hard, somehow quell the urge to capture his lips with your own, “absolute chaos” you whisper and slide your thumb across his cheekbone. If only you knew just how chaotic this next month would be, maybe it would have convinced you to lean the last few inches and kiss him, but instead, your hand drops and the moment ends.
