[Reader] looked around the rink. She had been coming here for a week in a row and these visits promised to be a new, quite interesting tradition. Partly because she enjoyed teasing Yuri on most occasions and it was an interesting new form of an old game. Whenever the boy saw that she came to stare, he immediately gave her the best kind of taunts. The day before yesterday, he even deliberately extended the training to see if the girl would leave. However, he failed to achieve the intended effect and she returned with him chattering all the way.

— What are you doing here again, you idiot?

— Nice to see you too, Plisetsky. — She grinned so widely that Yuri swore her jaw was about to stretch.

It was hard for him to admit it to himself but deep in his heart he was surprised at her behaviour. Most people hated him from the beginning (or didn't want to be friends with him after some time). He weeded out a lot of those individuals who fit into the two categories because he didn't want to associate with them. Apart from his fans and family, with whom he already had problems, he was left with only a small group of people who wanted to see him and whom he allowed to do so. And she was slowly starting to belong to that group.

— I told you not to come. — He started unlacing his skates.

— Nothing new. — She leaned against the board. — Today we're going to town.

— For what reason? — he huffed.

— They opened a Russian food stand near the park and are selling pirozhki.

This was his weak spot. [Reader] knew well how much Yuri appreciated his grandfather's delicacies.

The boy was aware that the taste probably wouldn't be as good as what he usually ate but the thought of a warm buns after training almost made his mouth water.

— Okay, let's go. — They better be edible, though — he muttered.

The walk to the park consisted mainly of [Reader's] monologue but it was nothing new. Since the ballerina arrived with Lilia Baranovskaya, he managed to say goodbye to silence for long moments.

—... and then I do a pirouette, and she says... — she stopped abruptly. — Wait a second!

The skater was about to comment on how he wouldn't freeze like a fool on the street in sub-zero temperatures when he saw where the girl had turned.

— Who is sweet and charming? Who is? You are!

[Reader] was just lifting an adorable, furry, ginger ball into the air. The kitten snuggled into her shoulder, clearly craving warmth.

At the same time, his second, less trusting companion appeared around the corner and, after sniffing the girl's shoes, he gave up her company in favour of Plistesky.

He looked a bit like Potya, so he started stroking his fluffy head without hesitation. He already missed his pet.

— I don't think they're strays — [Reader] said, examining the collar that should have a contact address on it.

Before she could add anything, a young couple with a child turned from the main street into an alley.

A little girl who was missing several baby teeth stopped shedding tears as soon as she found the kittens. As if on cue, both of them obediently jumped from the teenagers' arms and wandered over to her.

She mumbled a thank you, which her parents told her to repeat, and then disappeared.

— It's a pity. — [Reader] glanced at her now empty hands.

— It's not a pity. They found the owners.

— I know but still... — An unfinished thought hung in the air.

Without any further obstacles, they finally managed to reach the booth. The girl had to admit that it looked quite pretty in the pastel colors of the Russian flag, lit by a row of light bulbs.

While standing in line, she managed to argue with Yuri three times. The customers closest to them looked at them strangely and parents covered their children's ears. And when they reached the ordering stage, she was afraid that the seller simply wouldn't serve the two of them because his murderous look indicated exactly that. However, nothing like that happened and she received her pirozhki.

The girl sniffed it, and then reluctantly bit into her portion.

— Wow, it's sooo good! — She looked at the filling, trying to guess the composition of the it in the dim light of the lamps.

— Tch — he snorted. — My grandfather makes better ones — he said but he ate the rest of his portion.

After this trip, it turned out that it was the first but not the last.

[Reader] liked Russian food so much that she dragged the boy to the booth every day, ordering new delicacies.

The system added a new item to the menu every day and worked quite efficiently. When they were halfway through the list, one fateful afternoon occurred.

It was starting to get dark. The boy's training was almost over and the girl still hadn't shown up at the ice rink. Baranovskaya stood by the board, which never happened at this time. As usual, she was accompanied by a careful look and a frown.

Yuri drove towards her in a fluid movement.

— Was [Reader] here?

The question, short and to the point, required the same type of answer.

— NO.

— If she does show up, tell her to come to me. It's true that she took second place and she can do better but for God's sake! Instant break down? We have to fill out these papers and she disappears right after the competition. — She waved the stack of papers angrily and walked away.

The skater had no desire to return to training. He left the rink, wondering if [Reader] had told him anything about the ballet competition. However, he came to the conclusion that despite letting some information out through the other ear, he would still remember something so important.

It was hard for him to admit it to himself but the ballet mistress's words and tone worried him.

He searched the Internet for recent news. The photo in a recently published article showed the lucky winner of the gold medal. However, it was not [Reader]. He managed to find an amateur video showing the performance of the girl and her competitors.

He called her once but only silence answered on the phone.

With quiet hope in his heart, he decided to go to the park. It was a bull's-eye. It's true that the girl, although she didn't choose their usual bench, didn't really hide. Her cheeks and nose were pink from the frost, and delicate snowflakes settled on her hair. Moreover, she was bathed in the dull light of the park lamps. She would have looked beautiful if the image hadn't been spoiled by her red eyes from crying. [Reader] held the unfinished pirozhki in her hand, her eyes fixed on the dead center. She only broke out of her trance when she saw familiar shoes and their owner a few meters in front of her.

— What are you doing here, idiot? Baranovskaya is looking for you — he huffed.

— Then call her and tell her I'm here — she replied in a flat voice.

Yuri was speechless. The girl had never seemed so emotionless to him.

— I won't handle things for you, call her yourself — he provoked again.

— I'm not going anywhere. — She shrugged. — Nothing will happen if I don't sign these papers. I want to quit.

— What exactly? — He frowned.

— Ballet. — She bit into her food. — I've spent a lot of time here today thinking about it, and I think it's a pretty good idea. No more training and competitions. I will finally be able to return to normal school. Plus, seeing family every day sounds good too. I won't have to spend half my life abroad. By the way, you're a damn hypocrite. You kept saying that I was dragging you here by force and now you came of your own free will.

This was too much for the boy. Her condition, so different from what he had been accustomed to over the past weeks, was getting on his nerves. He couldn't deal with it.

— Have you gone completely crazy? — He asked in the coldest tone [Reader] had ever heard from him.

Yuri pinched the bridge of his nose, sighed, and then sat down on the bench next to her.

— I saw both performances online. You may be on a similar level but you are better than her. Just look at your fouetté at the end. Those damn judges must have been blind when they gave you half a point less.

The girl raised her head to look at his face. She had rarely seen him talk about something with such conviction. She was ashamed to admit it but she didn't suspect Yuri of ever being able to give anyone a compliment. For that reason, however, this one had a stronger effect on her than most she had heard about her dancing before.

The Yuri's green eyes seemed sincere. The decision she had made that afternoon now seemed to her like a less than fantastic vision, driven by the impulse of failure.

— I'm grateful but...

— If you think I'm just saying this because I want to comfort you, then...

— That's not what I meant — she quickly denied. — I appreciate what you said but I still need to think about whether I want to enter the next competition. Go back and tell Lilia not to worry.

— But if you do, just know that at the next competition I'm going to sit in the audience and watch you beat the crap out of all of them and...

— Yuri!

The boy rolled his eyes and stood up from the bench. [Reader] did one of the most spontaneous things she had ever done. She ran to him and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek.

— Thank you again — she whispered and returned to her seat.

The Russian smiled to himself, feeling a feeling of warmth spread throughout his body.

That night neither of them could sleep.

International Fanworks Day: Feedback Fest Recs

Or, a list of wonderful crossover on AO3 that you really, REALLY should read. Originally written down in the comments to this post, which you also really, really should check out.

In A Strange Land (Nibelungenlied/Parzival): The Medieval literature rare crossover I didn't know I needed in my life. Laugh-out-loud funny, taking full advantage of the differences in tone, narrative structure, and storytelling devices between the poems it's based on in an elegantly sharp way that's absolutely irresistible and of the various traditions behind those same poems. So clever I periodically reread it. Also, specifically for the other nerds following this blog: great Hagen and Volker voices.

Tea Journal (Strange Magic/Fables): A story that uses the worldbuilding of one work to highlight the characterization of the other and bring it to its full potential, taking the readers on a journey moving smoothly from romance to drama to fluff, angsty and tender and fun and sexy until it reaches a beautiful, moving conclusion.

When Wart met the Doctor (Doctor Who/The Once and Future King): A fic I have craved since reading a certain tiny little line in The Sword in The Stone, using an inconsequential moment in the canon to build up a short yet delightful scene full of wonder and fun.

Identity Crisis (Prince of Tennis/Yuri!!! On Ice): A subtly cracky romp that brings two stubborn, prickly characters together via two adorable, fluffy cats with an attitude. How can you not love even just the premise!?

The Pendragon-Gorlois Family Reunion (The Historically Inaccurate Remix) (Good Omens/Arthurian Mythology): A cute, fun story with some nice moments of quiet, understated angst in between, finding thoroughly entertaining ways to play with Good Omens' wit and humor, Arthuriana's penchant for telling the same story in fundamentally different ways and amp up the drama whenever it can, and even certain things taken from Merlin BBC and its fandom. Which is fair, because it was written as a remix of a story about Crowley and Aziraphale watching the show, making it a lovely display of fannish creativity in more ways than one.

Green (Mad Mad: Fury Road/Norse Religion & Lore): A story about redemption, death, and growth and healing -- in that order. As the tags say, it's all about "turning patriarchal myths on their heads." A great rec if you were fascinated by the Norse mythology references in Fury Road, spent way too much time pondering over the the writers possibly slipping in a few more implicit ones (okay, maybe that’s just me), were always fascinated by Loki's children and appreciative of more positive takes on them, were always thrilled by kinder takes on death and the afterlife in general, and/or simply felt for Nux while watching the movie.

Chapter 4

You were uttery confused. If your memory serves you right, Monika—or in this case, Moniko—followed the script until the day of the festival where he's supposed to make a joke, which you did not appreciate, about Satori's death.

"Come sit down, Y/N! We made room for you at the table, so you can sit next to me or Moniko," said Satori with a huge smile on hs face. "I'll get the cupcakes," Satori stated in a sing-song voice.

Naruki quickly stood up from his chair. "Hey! I made them, I'll get them!" He ran to the corner of the room.

Satori laughed awkwardly. "Sorry, I got a little too excited."

Yuri then decided to spoke up. "Then, how about I make some tea as well?" He stood up and walked towards the closet.

I smiled as I watched the three. It feels so different seeing them performing the actions other than reading it from MC's perspective, and just seeing their sprites different emotions, and actions inside a screen.

You turned your head to both Satori and Moniko. Unlike what the original protagonist did, you decided to take the seat next to Moniko.

"It's surprising that you took the seat next to me," he suddenly spoke up.

You quickly turned to him. "H-huh?" You were taken aback by his statement.

He chuckled and leaned closer to you. "I said, it's surprising that you chose me."

You faked a cough and regained your composure. "I didn't know that the club president likes to flirt."

He chuckled and leaned back to his chair. "I'm not flirting," he gave you a smile. "I'm only taking back what's mine." He winked.

Your eyes widened. "What-"

"Okaaay, are you ready?" Naruki cuts your statement off while holding a tray in hand. "Ta-daa!" He cheered.

"Woah!" Satori cheered.

Naruki lifts the foil off the tray to reveal a dozen of blue, fluffy cupcakes decorated to look like little cats. The whiskers are drawn with icing, and little pieces of chocolate were used to make ears.

"So cute!" Satori reached out to get his own cupcakes.

You raised your hand and reached out to Moniko, wanting to ask more about his statement but he quickly stood up, too fast for your own taste, and stated a familiar line from the script.

"I had no idea you were so good at baking, Naruki!" He commented.

He let out a proud laugh. "Well, you know." He motioned to the cupcakes. "Just hurry and take one!"

Satori grabs one first, then Moniko followed.

"It's delicious!" A huge smile is plastered across Satori's face as he took a huge bite off his cupcake.

You stared at Moniko as his eyes lightened up when he took the first bite of his treat. You guessed that he probably knew how it tastes like the back of his hand—considering how the game loops over and over again.

"Hey." You turned your head to Naruki who has his arms crossed out, a frown visible on his lips.

"Hmm?"

"Aren't you going to eat? Don't tell me that I baked all of this for nothing?" He pointed out.

"Oh, right!" You let out a nervous chuckle. "Sorry, something's been bugging my mind since this morning. I'd love to try your cupcakes, Naruki."

He grabbed one cupcake from the tray and handed it to you. "Then go and eat it!"

You mentally rolled your eyes. "Geez, okay." Not wanting to start an early fight with the tsundere, you reached out to take one cupcake and took a bite.

And oh, gods, your mind ran out of words to describe how delicious is it. The way the game's mc describe it can't even do justice on how amazing this cupcake taste!

"I'm not gonna lie, Naruki. This is probably the best desert I've ever tasted in my entire life!" You complimented. "Thank you!"

His cheeks turned red but a proud smile is visible on his face. "W-Why are you thanking me? It's not like I-"

"Made it for me or anything?" you cut off his famous tsundere line. "Yeah, I know!" You chuckled. "It's not like you can predict who's Satori's going to bring, right?"

Naruki's face turned a darker shade of red. "I-I-" he fumbled with his words. "I'm gonna go check on Satori! Hmp!" He pouted and turned away.

You heard a snort next to you and saw Moniko looking at you with pure enthusiasm in his eyes.

"Really?" He mouthed.

You shrugged. "What? I'm only telling the truth."

"Not actually the best thing you can say," he commented.

"But still... it was a good one." You winked.

He chuckled again and pinched your nose. "Uh-huh, but you have got to say, Naruki's cupcakes are amazing."

"Yeah! He probably should join a baking show or something."

"Competition, not show," he corrected.

You rolled your eyes. "Nah, same thing."

He flicked his finger on your forehead. "They're not."

"Hey!" You caressed your forehead that was assaulted by Moniko. "I'm going to report this to the principal, you meanie!"

He laughed hard, his hand holding his stomach. You pouted at the sight of him not taking your threat into consideration.

Suddenly, a thought in your head reminded you of something. "Hey, you're still not spared of your words earlier!"

He stopped laughing, wiping a fake tear on his eyes but his huge grin is still there. "H-huh?"

"The whole-" you copied his voice. "'I'm only taking back what's mine.' thing!" you changed back to your voice and held out a finger.

"First, that was really clichè, no kidding. I practically almost always read that line from every romance novels! If you want to win my heart, then do something original! Second, what's up with that line? There's really something going on with you..." you deducted.

You don't know why, but talking to Moniko felt so normal and comfortable that you just have the urge to open your mouth and say something. It felt so normal to the point that it became a familiar feeling the moment the two of you teased one another.

And looking from an outsider perspective... It's pretty unnerving.

Something just doesn't seemed to add up right... and it scared you.

Moniko gave you a sweet smile. "Original? You want original?" He then leaned down and whispered to your ear.

"Surely hanging out with Sayori really is original, don't you think?"

Your body ran cold at his sentence.

Sayori...

He said Sayori, not Satori!

Your face went pale as the both of you stared at each other, his emerald green eyes held different kind of emotions to the point that you were unable to figure out which is which.

"Y-you-" you were unable to finish you sentence when he turned around to face the rest of the club members.

"Alright, everyone! I have an idea for our club activity!" He then turned to you and winked. "But first, let's get to know our new member more."

You are so doomed.

GIRL , I PLAY A LOT OF VIDJA GAMES . n- not as hard as before , but i try to play when i get the chance or free time from work ! i really enjoy a story based and chill games the most like : Bravely Default series , Octopath Traveler, Pokemon , Final Fantasy , Persona , Kingdom Hurts , Tales of ( duh ! Vesperia is my favorite btw //finger guns at your yuri who is actually my tales of crush www. ) , etc . Favourite story you’ve written so far: oh mannnn i gotta say where the light goes. especially that first chapter, just,, damn. what was i ON ?? its so good!! what the heck!!! quite proud of my metaphor work there, even if balancing prose/poetry feel is very stilted at times . in terms of that balance i think i did a Really good job with and neither did the both of us bc i went back and reread where the light goes for inspiration and i was like “oh god this is DROWNING in metaphors i need to lighten it up a little”

Fic you were nervous to post: i was nervous about where the light goes bc i had such high expectations going in, like i Knew people were craving what i had but i was like, did i do it right?? will this be my breakthrough in the mdzs fandom??? and it sort of was and sort of wasn’t, which,, fair. also SUPER nervous for astriferous bc i had written it all in like, one (1) day and it was for an exchange LMFAOOO (and you can really tell it was all written in one go......it was only when i hit the end that it got Good)

How you choose your titles: when i write fic i’m often scrapbooking a TON of different things together so titles are often just whatever it is i’m already drawing from. there are a few exceptions, like here, then, begins the mending, or and i need nothing more where a phrase popped into my head during the writing/drafting/brainstorming process and i was like OH THAT’S REALLY GOOD. TITLE IT IS

Do you outline?: usually only if it’s plot-driven, like my (incomplete for . Reasons) (ok i was being pestered bc i took it as a prompt and my promptee was. hm) YW multichap equilibrium, for which i outlined EVERYTHING. it was so annoying but i also lowkey liked it because these were MY messy outline notes and i could go as ham as i’d like

Upcoming story you’re most excited about?: bold of u to assume i read multichapters anymore HAHAHA i rotate through the same library of 100 one-shots i have bookmarked now......but back when i did read multichaps i was REALLY into the work of iruutciv + orchids_and_fictional_cities team from yoi, they were absolute LEGENDS and their fic and miles to go before i sleep changed me as a person lmao (i also did read part of their ongoing but monsters are always hungry, darling and i’m actually still in their discord for it but it is SO so intricately crafted and i fell out of the loop and didn’t rly get back in) . currently i follow megafaunatic aka etymologyplayground’s work the most closely for my mxtx fix (my fav from them currently is probably you, asleep and dreaming)

A love letter to fanfiction and BL anime

Have you ever retrospected on yourself and wondered how much of your opinions are your own? Throughout your life, you have been conditioned by your family, friends, the media you watch, religion and many many more. But is it possible to recognize this and uncondition yourself of certain wrong or bigoted opinions? It definitely is and this letter is to the bl anime and fanfiction that helped me do exactly that. 

I still remember vividly the first Bl or shounen ai anime that I watched. It was this insanely popular show called Yuri on Ice that aired in the November of my twelfth grade. I had followed some singers on youtube who made covers of anime openings and endings and for a long time I had been coming across covers of Dean Fujioka’s History Maker, the opening sequence of YOI accompanied with glowing reviews of the anime. Interested, I searched the anime and stumbled upon the fact that while not explicitly categorized as shounen ai, the male leads definitely had feelings for each other. I was in a dilemma, here was this series that the anime community was going gaga over with stunning music and visuals and I was afraid to watch it. I don’t remember what exactly was the source of this fear but it is easy to guess what it was as I was someone who had not been exposed to queer media before and had no social media at that time. Finally unable to come up with a decision myself I decided to ask my friend and I still think about what would have happened had she not told me, after I whispered about this anime to her in a hushed voice as if it was some dirty secret. “Well what are you scared for? I think you should watch it”. Well, she was a level headed kid, so I decided to give it a try. And promptly fell in love with it; with the stunning ice skating sequences to the hilarious and wacky characters to the brilliant and realistic portrayal of the anxiety of the main character to the amazing chemistry made me crave for more, leading me to actively search for bl anime and discover gems like NO.6 but the craving did not end there. By that time I had already been introduced to the world of fanfiction and had been avidly reading fanfics of hetero pairs plus i had been taking baby steps into AO3 so I randomly searched for yuri on ice fanfics on AO3.

 Four years and countless fanfics later I have fallen in love with many bl anime and manga like Banana Fish and entrenched myself firmly into the fandom with terms like shipping coming up whenever I watch any media. It also has given me the (sometimes unfortunate) ability of picking up homoerotic undertones in narratives. And most importantly, it started off the journey of a sheltered 16 year old brought into the discourses of gender and queer theory. I know it is unjust to only blame society for my prejudices as it was a character flaw in myself as well which I try my best to correct and I should mention here that the bl scene is not just fluffy roses and sparkles. There is fetish, there are sexual mangas and there are badly written ones with rapey undertones. Same with slash fanfiction as well unless you stick firmly to fluff and general rated fics of course. But every genre has it’s bad as well as good works and I believe that you should not judge a genre by the bad works it produces. 

In addition, even now while I do repost articles or posts on queer identity and follow activists and engage in discourse, I am still afraid to post art that is explicitly bl like maybe victor and Yuri kissing. It stems from a fear of society and while I am vocal in the safe circles of academia, I am afraid of my relatives seeing it and telling my parents who definitely would look at me weirdly.It is something I am not proud off but at the same time I try to do little things, like convincing my friend to watch bl anime and slowly using it to get over her homophobia or even having a candid conversation with a friend trying to convince him that queerness is not something that is unnatural. While I am writing this, I definitely acknowledge the privilege that I have as a cis middle class female and how this is nothing compared to the social pressure that a queer individual faces in their life. But I hope to be a good ally and I am grateful to both anime and fanfics and the wonderful people in my life that have made me aware of my prejudice and helped eradicate it.

It’s like me trying to be able to wrap my head around all the versions of Fate out there. It can’t be done even after multiple attempts. 

Okay since I can’t like say all the favorite ships especially because I’m a terrible multishipper that’s all over the place and loves too many series (as should be evidenced by this blog) I’ll just mention a few: Rin/Natsuya, Rin/Sousuke, Momo/Rin/Sousuke, Izumi/Mutsu, Yurio/Otabek (sorta half of these are really them with food so), Tsukiyama/Kaneki, Zapp/Leo, Senku/Chrome, Senku/Gen, Half the people in A3 but really into Banri/Juza, Tenma/Yuki, Masumi/MC, Omi/Taichi, Kirill/Doug, Yuri/Wolfram, Yuri/Yozak (or half a dozen other combos in that show), RobiHachi (literally the name of the show and yes I ship them by the end), Dazai/Atsushi probably?, Bakugou/Deku, Todo/Deku, Ben/Kevin, honestly this list could be forever long, I’m bad at this. I’m not even including all the series.

I will forever be on Dr Stone both for the music and because I totally identify a lot with Senku in many ways. 

Last movie watched: I see way more moves than most humans should, but because of being sick haven’t seen as many. I think the last one I saw in the theater was either Dolittle (which is better than I thought it would be. It was fun) and Weathering for You (which was good but because of crossover messed up its own timeline.) 

Reading: So....um you know for a writer, I haven’t read much as of late other than like fanfic or a LOT of news or stuff for my job because I have FOMO super bad. I really need to catch up on the Percy Jackson series, Finish Pendragon, and read a bunch more stuff including manga and more than just like chapters in games. FML.

What food am I craving right now: Well other than this sickness has left my appetite super wack so I’m barely even hungry anymore, but I have never stopped craving fluffy souffle pancakes that I had in Japan one time and have never found again. Or Soy flavored soft serve ice cream (I think that’s what it was) that I had there and can never find again. Or like super dark hot chocolate from Italy. Closest I’ve found to it is “drinking chocolate.”

The third time?!?!?! I’m so sorry about that, did I leave you waiting that long?! I’m sorry I’m taking so long with all of these requests, I am working on some, I swear!! But I checked, I think your previous asks never got through to me, this is the first time I got a request for Iroha HC’s..... I hope it was worth the wait, I am so sorry again!!

Fluffy Iroha HC’s 

-Passionate stuffed animal collector and lover. She’s very in the beany baby scene and just wants all the fuzzy cuddle buddies with the big eyes, no matter how terrifying people think they are sometimes

-She also has some feisty pets for a little surprise. They look all cutesy, but when you press the back of their head they get angry and show their teeth. Always works for a little scare and then laugh

-She likes to just… mix her paint and make different colours. It’s a little bit of a waste, she knows that, but it’s just so relaxing to watch the colours flow and eventually become a different colour and sometimes she puts her hands in the paint and it’s cold but also feels surprisingly good

-She then runs to the shower so it doesn’t dry or the others make fun of her, because the first time she did this it completely dried and she had to walk around with purple arms for weeks-

-She likes to play with her food sometimes, but only when no one is watching, because she doesn’t want people to make fun of her, but she is still pretty childish and just wants to have a good time, be nice to her

-She does online commissions to earn a bit of extra cash on the side. Luckily her paintings and drawings are highly seeked out, because they have a high quality and are actually pretty cheap for the amount of time and quality she puts into them

-She sometimes has to deal with entitled customers, but its okay, Emma, Hajime, Nikei and Mikado take care of this for her so she doesn’t have to worry about these people ever again

-She likes disney movies. Especially the older ones that were still drawn, having a huge soft spot for Aristocats and Lilo and Stitch. She also likes Mary Poppins, the songs are just so catchy that she always sings to them and has a good time. Emma likes to join her to watch the movies with her, and they eat popcorn and laugh and point out things and just have a lot of fun with their girls night

-Cotton candy is her jam! Not literally, I don’t think  there is jam-flavoured cotton candy, but hit her up if there is, because heck yeah!! Sadly she doesn’t go nearly enough to amusement parks to satiate her cotton candy cravings and the store-bought stuff is just not as good and will only disappoint her in the end

-Swearing is prohibited, she always censors swears in some way, making her cursing or insulting someone rather hilarious, not that there is much reason for her to swear or insult somebody

-She still has to shop in the kids section because she is tiny. She doesn’t particularly mind though. Yuri is a bit saltier about it- 

-She does one warumup sketch and 3 quick painting, 2 medium painting or 1 very drawn out and beautiful painting, she doesn’t want to overdo it, even if its her ultimate talent, she would only burn herself out. She usually gifts most of it away, but when there is an interested buyer, she sells it to them or the right prize (Which Emma, Mikado, Hajime and Nikei handle out for her, because she is

hibiki (he/they) is the ultimate demolitionist! i cant draw but his design and whole aesthetic is literally just. minecraft creepercore. they’re 4′10″, they wear full-eye black contacts bc Crepper Aesthetic, and he just. likes to blow shit up. he’s the rival in my group killing game and i love him SO much

yuri (he/him) is 100% my kinnie oc as the ultimate camp counselor. despite being very good at what he does (duh), he hates it. the responsibility of having to maintain the fun and safety of a bunch of kids is shaving years off his lifespan. and, amazingly for him, he immediately gets assigned Group Dad against his will during the killing game. he also carries at least four fanny packs at all times, each containing snacks and capri suns, first aid supplies, arts and craft supplies, and a fucking tazer (which he usually threatens to use against hibiki). 

kimi (she/her) is the ultimate candy maker! her entire aesthetic is cotton candy, in which her hair is dyed blue and pink, she likes soft, puffy clothing, and she’s just a really sweet (ha) person in general! she gets along with most all of her classmates bar a few. she has lesbian disease also

miyah (she/her) is the ultimate witch, which sounds really cool, until she opens her mouth and you realize she’s the crystal-wielding, essential oil-drinking, anti vax queen you were warned about. she’s very sweet and very soft spoken, and genuinely tries to be kind to everyone, but she’s very much a you love her or hate her kind of personality.

koya (they/them) is the ultimate swashbuckler! swashbucklers are a hero archetype defined by flamboyant movement, sword-wielding, chivalry, and daring adventures. koya is a sea-faring spirit, and they fill their time in the killing game enthralling the others with stories of grandeur and convincing all of their classmates that they are a legit pirate. koya is a liar, they exaggerate…a lot, but their intentions are not malicious and their tales just come out a bit more romantic than they actually happened. they’re very charming and laid back, and they’re definitely the sort of heartthrob character that everyone wants to smooch. 

chieko (they/them) is the ultimate girl gang leader, and they are also ultimate lesbian. they’re sort of isolated from the rest of the group due to their talent being considered scary, and their very intense and intimidating appearance and personality. they’re major concern is to escape the killing game and find their way back to their girls (they say as much, which makes everyone VERY suspicious!) but they wouldnt hurt anyone and they end up becoming best friends with yuri and masako (who i’ve lovingly dubbed the parent squad of this class)

speaking of masako (she/they), she is the ultimate investigative journalist, and this killing game’s trial helper! she is very well traveled, and takes what she does very seriously. they are completely and utterly devoted to the truth, good or bad, they will find the truth. they absolutely detest koya for this reason; even little lies absolutely grind masako’s gears. she also is very distrustful, and she doesn’t trust anyone at the onset of the killing game. it takes her a long time to warm up enough to the protag to share her findings during investigations, and she often comes across as somewhat of a rival during trials due to her critical nature and the way she very blatantly does not trust those around her. nevertheless, later on she is (against her will) forced into the Parent Squad with chieko and yuri, and though she doesn’t trust anyone else, she will do everything in her power to keep more killings from happening. 

daichi (he/him) is the ultimate superhero, and he was the first dr oc i actually made!! he’s very much a pretty boy (fluffy blonde hair, pink eyes, freckles, he’s just Cute) and he and hibiki start dating during the killing game! he’s sort of a bastard and won’t give anyone a straight answer on what his superpowers actually are, but despite his kind, cheeky nature, he feels a deep sense of responsibility and guilt over not being able to do anything about the killing game. he is one of the more likely people to go snooping for the mastermind, and he’s gotten in physical fights more than once with people he deems suspicious. 

hirohito (he/him) is the ultimate joggler and he’s the greatest character of all time. what is joggling, you ask? don’t worry, he’ll tell you. i came across this while looking for talent ideas, and i laughed so hard i cried when i conceptualized this fiend. he’s very much the token joke character, he’s a hot head, and he’s kind of a dick, but the idea of hope’s peak allowing the ultimate person who can juggle and jog at the same time into their doors is just too hilarious to pass up. protag joggler 4 life

speaking of people who are kind of dicks, meet yuuto (he/him), the ultimate dancer. he’s such a hot head. he hates the most of his classmates out of any other character, including the mastermind. he’s dating the protag, who is one of like…four people he actually likes in his class. yuuto takes his talent very seriously, and spends hours every day working to maintain his status as the best of the best. his talent comes before everything else (or, at least, it did), but if his talent comes first, then the people he cares about take up every other place on the list. he doesn’t tolerate many people, but those he does, he is fiercely loyal towards. he would kill and die for the people he cares about. he is 5′2″ of pure kickass, and he will throw everything he has into defending the people he loves. i lvoe him.

michiko (she/her) is the ultimate influencer (yeah. i know). she’s an internet personality who has followings on instagram, twitter, youtube, tiktok, et cetera. she is also one of my earlier oc designs, and i’m kind of attached to her lol. she’s very naturally magnetic and has a lot of friends among her classmates, but she does have a tendency to get hung up on things like follower counts, conventional beauty, and wealth. she has a huge (mutual!) crush on koya, she’s best friends with hibiki, and she has an intense fear of swimming pools (her hair is dyed, and chlorine is way bad for dyed hair)

leeanne (she/her) is the only non-japanese character, and i. she’s a mess. she’s the ultimate theatre kid, and she’s basically every broadway tumblr user when h*milton was super popular. she complains about musical bootlegs, becries her classmates for not knowing anything about the musicals she stans, and she’s just. lord. obviously she’s a joke character, and she’s honestly a caricature of the kind of shit i got up to (to a degree! don’t call me out sdkjdsjbd) when i was 15 years old. suffice to say, none of her classmates like her very much

tomoya (he/him) is the obligatory ultimate ???, and also our trial ruiner! he earns the distrust of his entire class by keeping his talent a secret and then having it revealed by masako, and as a result he is very outcasted and lonely among his peers. he’s a naturally very reserved person, and his situation lends him to feeling very lonely. most of the class suspect him to be the mastermind – whether they’re right or not, only time will tell. 

katsumi (she/her) is 1/3 of what i’ve dubbed the Showbiz Squad as the ultimate pageant queen! she’s been participating in and winning beauty pageants since she was very young, and she’s won all the way up through the pageant ranks. as one would expect she’s very beautiful, and she’s also very bright and charismatic, which lends itself well to gaining allies in the killing game. she is by and large very fake, though, and she operates as a mini antagonist for various reasons. 

hikaru (he/him) is another third of the Showbiz Squad, as the ultimate game show host! he’s very ostentatious and charismatic; he’s always ‘on,’ always playing the gracious, enthusiastic host. there’s always a smile and a flashy, charming quip in his mouth, so he can wear very gratingly on the less enthusiastic and personable kids. he definitely would be a tumblr sexyman if he were an actual dr character {sweating emoji]. despite the crowd he seems to gather wherever he goes, no one knows much about him; and he likes to keep it that way. 

and finally, the last third of the Showbiz Squad, and also the protagonist: hachi (he/they), the ultimate child star! as their talent would indicate, hachi was a child star, and he absolutely detests the showbusiness world as a result. he really dislike pretty much…everyone who represents that part of his past (katsumi, hikaru, and michiko are prime examples) and his least favorite thing is getting the question: “omg where you in ___?” they’re very emotionally and physically fatigued by all the bullshit going on around them, so they come across as fairly apathetic to most people. but in actuality, hachi is someone who craves stability and kindness, and their extremely blunt, extremely annoyed exterior hides a very soft, compassionate interior. i absolutely adore this character :D

and umm thats it for my kids! i (for the most part?) have all of the killers/victims worked out, i have my mastermind all planned, but i’m still working on a setting/obligatory extra mono-creature/how this group falls within the dr canon. i love talking about these guys so if ur interest in them pwease send me asks/messages about them 🥺

Fanfic Writer’s Appreciation Day 2018!!!

I’m so thankful for all the fanfic writers in out there and especially the writer in the Yuri! on Ice Fandom. Here’s a list of some of the fics I’ve read this week & some of my favs all mixed together! (THIS IS BY NO MEANS A COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF ALL THE FICS I THINK ROCK) 

Don’t forget if you’re a fic reader to go and leave an extra comment on your fav stories or drop an ask in the author’s tumblr about how much you appreciate the work that they do! Some of the authors in the fandom are FANTASTIC and I can’t believe that they aren’t paid, professional writers!

Much Ado About Something by @eternalsunshine13 &  Skowronek 

AO3 Summary: By day, Victor Nikiforov is the head of European operations for LearX, a company on the forefront of private space travel. By night, he is makka-baby on Tumblr, a prominent figure in the small but passionate poodle fandom.

By day, Yuuri Katsuki runs F.O.O.L., a subsidiary of Katsuki Enterprises, whose stated goal is to bring LearX down one lawsuit after another. By night, he’s oodlesofpoodles, an active member of the poodle fandom and possibly makka-baby’s biggest fan.

By day, they duke it out in court. By night, they become friends—and maybe something more—as they fall for each other one Tumblr message at a time.

Or: a romantic comedy starring two idiots in love, the Katsuki family, the mothers Nikiforov, the husbands Chulanont-Giacometti, two doggos, six hamsters, one Yurio, and many, many schemes to get our favorite lovebirds together.

I devoured this in one sitting. They were so frustratingly adorable!!!! This fic is a great enemies to lovers filled with poodles, matchmaking Chris & Phichit, and a futuristic Tumblr app that is still the worst. :P 

In Regards to Dynamics by ICanSeeClearlyNow, Oxytreza 

AO3 Summary: In a world where betas ruled, alphas and omegas were treated as less than human. After centuries of prejudice, they rebelled, commandeered a colony ship and left Earth for the Proxima Centauri system, vowing to create a new world where all people, regardless of gender, would be treated equally.

200 years later, a reformed Earth approaches Proxima asking to reestablish contact and to reconcile their worlds. Victor Nikiforov, a popular and successful politician on Proxima, is chosen to lead the mission to Earth and accompany a team from Earth back to Proxima for a scientific exchange.

The team from Earth consists of ordinary people descended from omegas and alphas who chose to remain on Earth. Yuuri Katsuki, a researcher into transporter technology and completely ordinary and unremarkable Earthling (a PhD and excellent service record don't count - shush Phichit!) is both thrilled and terrified at the prospect of meeting the handsome ambassador who has taken the Earth by storm.

I’m a sucker for ABO fics. The history and world-building in this fic fascinated me and gave our boys some interesting backstories. 

Cherry Blossom Winter by Ars_Matron

AO3 Summary: The war was over, and they had lost. The invading army covered Japan in a show of complete dominance. All bowed before them in hopes of being spared. And Hasetsu was no exception.They couldn't fight, there were no more battles to win, yet they were bound and determined to keep their omegas safe. All Yuuri and the others had to do was keep low until the soldiers were gone. Blend in. Never be caught alone.Yuuri hadn't meant to catch the attention of the blue eyed alpha.Viktor wasn't going to let him slip away.

ABO FICS FOR THE WIN!!!! This fic is an ABO version of another one of Ars_Matron’s stories Snow in Spring - so if you like the summary but not the A/B/O aspect hit that story up! I think the A/B/O aspect really raises the stakes for this story. Just from reading the summary you think it’s going to be a Dark Viktor, but Ars writes his POV as well so we get his thought process too! This is a great conquering Alpha! Viktor and dancer Omega! Yuuri that you’ve got to stop and read it! 

Hide and Seek by senshoo

AO3 Summary: Thankfully, the walk only took a few moments and soon, Yuuri was juggling both the child and the key while he shouldered his way into the apartment, set the kid down on his secondhand couch, and then sighed, sinking to the floor.

One deep breath.

Maybe two.

And then, it hit him.Holy shit.Did he just kidnap a child?--

Or: The one where Yuuri accidentally becomes a father at twenty three. Oh, and there's still skating.

EKKKKKK!!!!! I love baby Yurio and this fic warms my cold dead heart! Not to mention this fic is HILARIOUS! I’ve literally laughed out loud reading multiple chapters from this fic much to my embarrassment during professional development workshops. It’s just a cute pinning fic with a cute little Yurio and a dash of angst but mostly humor. <3 <3 <3 

Plus: the writer is a consistent updater! 

Can I have some of that, Please? by TheLittleSeven  

AO3 Summary: If there's anything he learned during his mate's pregnancy, it was to never, EVER question a craving of a pregnant person. Ever. Unless he wanted to deal with a crying fit that resulted from him asking the omega why he wanted mango ice cream with siracha and peas topped on it. Pregnant people usually have weird cravings during their pregnancy. Yuuri Katsuki-Nikiforov is no exception.

I stumbled upon this little one shot over the summer and absolutely love it! The writer says this is their first fic and it’s so cute! You’ve probably read the story somewhere on the internet and it fits our sweet boys so much!

AO3 Summary:  This is the story about unconditional love between true mates. When they are destined to be together, there will be nothing standing in their way. Not even language barriers or great distances. As long as they have each other, they will never need anything else.

I couldn’t make a fanfic writer’s appreciation post without including my main writing KWEEN @sophialala1 !!! All of their fics are amazing! Long, fluffy, plot twists, little angsty Viktuuir goodness! Also, they are a dedicated writer and right now going on over a week of daily updates! I’m so thankful they are writing for this fandom and cannot express my gratitude enough! 

Between Sixes  by D_Toska

AO3 Summary:  When Yuri Katsuki is hired as a caretaker for an elite competitive stable owned by Viktor Nikiforov, he knows he's in for trouble with his stunningly handsome new boss. When he makes a major mistake on his first day, he learns just how far Viktor is willing to go to ease his guilty conscience.

HOT HOT HOT!!!! This story is spicy, flaming, sexy, and OMG! I’m pretty sure I have a perpetual nosebleed the ENTIRE chapter. There’s also a lot about horses, which is very lengthy and detailed so I’m sure the writer knows what they’re talking about, lol (bc I know nothing about horses). But I love the chemistry between the dom Vitkor & sub Yuuri and i am on this rollercoaster for good. 

Learning Life & Love (Work) by BellaBear13

AO3 Summary: Yuuri Katsuki gets admitted to the hospital for his anxiety and Viktor Nikiforov becomes his therapist. They fall for each other and develop a prohibited relationship, while dealing with problems and situations along the way. Yuuri befriends another patient, Yuri Plisetsky, where they find friendship in one another and open up about difficulties they have with their mental health and relationships.Together they all learn the meaning of life and love.

I was hesitant to start this fic only because I thought the power balance between Viktor & Yuuri would be skewed bc of the therapist/patient bit. I WAS SO WRONG!!! This fic is beautiful and heart-wrenchingly angsty and you know, a little pinning. The writer takes so good pace with their budding relationship && how they approach Yuuris (&&Viktors) mental illness. I really love this story and it updates consistently on Wednesday. Take a chance, and read this fic! 

Seven Years and Twenty-Four Hours (Work) by Glaucus_Atlanticus

AO3 Summary: A time-traveling shower transports 18 year old Yuuri into the body of his future self—and into the arms of his idol, Victor Nikiforov. Now Yuuri must pretend to be his older self until he can return to his own era. Which would be a lot easier if Victor weren't so attentive. Or so affectionate.But as time goes on, Yuuri finds himself torn between his old life, and a new one that would hand him everything he ever wanted...but at the cost of his real identity.

COMPLETED! So beautiful. The younger time-traveling Yuuri is so heartbreakingly anxious and Victor is just a sad sac without his time-appropriate Yuuri. This is an angsty fic, but such a great read.

So that all of your readers can shower you with some extra love today, please tell us your favourite five stories of yours and why you like them and then send this to another five fic authors you think deserve this title!

For someone who says they hate most of their fics, I’m surprised how easy it was to come up with this little list. These aren’t in any particular order. Just 5 fics I actually like.

1. sleepovers in my bed Ashido/Uraraka | gen | 2.8 k | post ch. 168

Uraraka seeks out some needed comfort from Mina for the night.

I’ve really fallen in love with this bnha rarepair and so I had to try writing it. This one actually came pretty easy for me when I wrote it and I think I wrote the emotions in it pretty well. I’m a sucker for emotional hurt/comfort and bed sharing so there ya go.

2. Covered in my Art Yuri/Otabek | teen | 12.5 k | tattoo parlour au

Yuri is a new artist working in a tattoo shop with Viktor and the other Russians. He soon meets Otabek, a figure skater training in St Petersburg, who wants to get a tattoo. It doesn't take long for Yuri to fall for the man. It just takes a while for him to realize it and admit it.

I had a lot of fun writing this one. I’ve always been fascinated by tattoos and enjoy these kind of AUs. So much planning was put into this world for a whole a series I have yet to write and I couldn’t believe all the positive response I got for it.

3. Not “He” Yuri & Viktor | teen | 1.9 k | nonbinary Yuri

Yuri took a deep breath. “I’m not… I mean… I didn’t like hearing you refer to me as ‘him’. I don’t want to be called that.” Yuri takes a trip back to Japan to speak with Viktor after the Grand Prix Final.

This is probably one of the most personal fics I’ve written since it was done after I came to the realization that I’m nonbinary. All the comments I continue to receive on this fic warm my heart since this resonates with other nonbinary individuals. I’ve never had a work touch people this way before and it’s probably the fic I’m most proud about for that fact.

4. Home at Last Makoto/Haru | teen | 6 k | post series

Instead of asking Haru out, Makoto asks him to move in with him.

This is the first Free! fic I wrote after getting back into the fandom so it holds a special place in my heart. It’s just so much cute makoharu fluffiness. 

5. Barre None Bakugou/Kirishima | mature | wip 13 k | ballet/athlete au

Without exception.

Kirishima strives for a higher position in his ballet company but insecurities hold him back. Bakugou craves Olympic glory and wants to achieve it on his own merit without the need of a team. However, things slowly begin to change for each of them once they become roommates.

While this fic is currently on hiatus due to personal reasons, I intend to continue this soon once I sort things out. I love this AU I’ve created so much and I refuse to leave it incomplete. This is probably my most original idea I’ve come up with for a fic and I’m quite proud of it. Probably should have kept it for an original story lmao
