I have so many thoughts

Jamrock is a small northern, subarctic/high boreal community in the province of Revachol. Martinaise is the nearby port. I'm thinking like, Northern Quebec/Hudson Bay-adjacent vibes.

Anyways, the 41st is Jamrock's small police outpost. Some of the other officers have other jobs or community positions. Harry is an officer, but also part-time school teacher. He's trying his best, but the social and economic struggles of the remote community weigh heavy on him, and he struggles.

Kim is a pilot who found himself semi-forcibly transferred to Jamrock. Still figuring out the scenario that landed him there. I can't decide if he's like, discharged from the military or something. Maybe he tried becoming a fighter pilot, but his eyesight is too poor, so he ends up taking a remote pilot posting. At the moment, he mainly ferries people, supplies, and mail. Also, one of the local teachers/police officers keeps trying to talk to him for some reason.

I just think Kim deserves to be a pilot. And because I have personal experience with bush planes, I say he gets to be a bush pilot. I think it's actually quite fitting. Bush pilots are a special breed that I think fits Kim's secret speed freak nature.

I think it's time we talked about the doctor's "do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?" in relation to the master.

Bc throughout their lives, everytime the master did something bad, when he’d cone back they'd still have a sort of teasing relationship. Like they both knew it was a game. They both knew their limits and the true extent of their games. So there wasn't really place for betrayal in the game bc they both knew betrayal (on the master's side) WAS involved in it.

Then comes the time war and the doctor thinks he did the unforgivable and committed genocide on his own planet. And then the master shows up, arguably his most important friend, the only one who truly understands him - and then the master does something that's pretty unforgivable by enslaving the human race and turning the people at the end of the universe in killing machines. And yet the doctor, in a very important scene, forgives him like it's the easiest thing. Because they're still the same, the game hasn't changed, they're still on tjr same page, still doing the same things to each other.

And 12 was careful and a bit wary but he wholeheartedly wanted to help missy change - he saved her life in the process too. And I think he was happy at the prospect of missy becoming good bc that meant that the person he felt closest too, who was fundamentally different from him before (and it was okay bc it was in the rules of the game), was ready to be even more like him. Soulmatism x1000.

He thought missy wanted to change the rules of the game and that meant betrayal would no longer be part of it. He wouldn't run and she wouldn't stab him in the back for it.

Thing is - he thinks missy betrayed him. And he STAYED. He asked her to stay too, which is different from what he used to do to her - abandon her, run from her etc. And he thought that he was changing the rules of the game too. But missy betrayed him (in his eyes, he doesn’t know she wanted to come back) and he felt like they no longer even had the game.

The thing with 13 and the master is that the whole "do you think I care for you so little thag betraying me would make a difference?" doesn't seem applicable anymore and you wonder why. Bc it's not like they don't CARE about each other, in a twisted way. It's that the master still wants to play the game, although with significantly more violence because he's significantly hurting more than ever before, and the doctor doesn't want to play the game anymore at all.

how do your builds make more realistic builds?

I could probably do a whole TED talk on this but I’ll leave you with a few tips that I use when building. I will say there is no right or wrong way to build. The more exposure (speed builds/practicing/reference pics) you have to it the better you get!

1. Less over head lighting- how many homes have you been in have 17291038 saucer lights? Not many. So cut out the over head lighting and throw in actual light fixtures (lamps, wall lights, fairy lights, etc)

2. Change the hue of your lighting. I normally go with a warm white color to get that cozy effect

3. Do a little research- go on Pinterest or floor plan sites and find someone that connects with you. Or if you’re like me rely on your memories. I grew up in a neighborhood of mostly 1970 midcentury homes. So I tend to draw a lot of inspiration from my old childhood friends homes! I also take pictures of homes I see while driving out and about (not in a creepy way).

4. Watch speed builds- yes they can be a little… generic at times. But another simmer might do something so small that changes the whole feel of build!

5. Less is more***- I go through phases of the maximalist clutter style builds. Right now I’m in my ea minimalist era of building. Mainly because it helps me enjoy my game better. When there’s too much stuff I just get overwhelmed and it’s no bueno for me. That is totally up to YOUR style though. I’ve seen some beautifully over cluttered builds that tell such a beautiful story of a sim. My pc just can’t handle it.

6. Repeat floors, tiles, and wallpapers. Not many homes have a mixture of different wooden floors, tiles, and wallpaper. Keep it simple and just reuse the flooring/walls because it makes the house look more like a stand alone structure than a very stylized renovation.

7. Landscape- now I am no Fern Gully (90s babies where you at). So when I land space I keep it simple. But it does add so much to a build and can give a home some character/story. If you have a family with lots of kids they might have toys out in the yard and their lawn might not be picture perfect all the time. Versus retired couple who’s got nothing but time on their hands. Or you might have a sim that literally doesn’t touch the lawn at all and it’s all over grown!!

8. If possible get a second opinion. Most of builds are seen by my husband who always tells me things I should do that I wouldn’t ever think of. He literally has no idea what the sims is so it always helps to have a fresh pair of eyes!

HAHHAHA IT’S WORKING. I could talk about this all day but first of all, this:

Second of all: it is a show about two middle aged women, one of whom lost her job, the other whose husband left her, who take to each other like ducks to water. Like literally, one minute they’re meeting and then they’re making plans for weeks ahead when they’ll obviously still being hanging out because why wouldn’t they be? By episode two, they’ve got a gardening business and everyone thinks they’re gay.

They solve murders. Someone always gets killed at the house they’re gardening at, and they just jump right into solving it, no questions asked. They’re not police (although Laura used to be) they just do it because they’re busybody’s. I think in episode 2, Laura goes “this has nothing to do with us” and Rosemary goes “well if you’re going to take that attitude” and the subject is dropped.

Are they gay? Well canonically no, but canonically they always have separate beds in the same room. Every single time. In a way that feels very Hays code and statically insane. But anywho, they never deny that they’re lesbians, despite episode 2 being the gay denial episode where the creators decided they needed to convince people they weren’t making a gay show and failed spectacularly. No one even thought they were gay before. They did afterwards.

But now they’re not gay. And they are. Because Rosemary any Thyme, more than anything else for me, it is a beautiful example of platonic friendship and and a show that isn’t centered around romance and no one’s happy ending is a sweeping romance, their happy ending is life with each other.

Which is also why it’s the gayest gardening lesbian detective show you’ve ever seen . The two things exist in harmony in my brain. They are both equally true.

There is banter. It’s funny. It’s sweet. I want them to be me and all of my girlfriends when I grow up. The vibes are light and cozy and I started watching it for the first time at the beginning of September and I’m trying to hold myself back but I fear I just started my third rewatch.

If jasper had to reassimilate his current canon life, what do you think he'd realize?

I have so many thoughts about Jasper and his self awareness but the first thing that comes to mind is the Confederate part. And I don't mean it as in Racism bad :( kinda way, I mean it as in a true guilty feeling. The Confederacy didn't die after the civil war. I just imagine him seeing the common truck with a confederate flag on it and just feeling a hole in his stomach, feeling guilty.

Realizing how much damage he did, not just in his vampire life but before when he was human. That he just now with the Cullen's it's truly making "amends" about it and how ironic it was that he, a white confederate got killed and basically enslaved by a Mexican woman.

He'll realize he can't just forget about his past. Not like every other vampire he knows, they're no longer human so what does it care? For him, it does, it cares so much.

I think he'll avoid talking about his past to anyone, he'll try to pretend it didn't happen. But he'll realize he can't just live in a delusion or in dissociation.

Is this anything? idk, I have so many thoughts.

I’m just looking through the lyrics and my interpretation about Sacred The Thread is about Josh feeling super confident in who he is as a person and how he dresses.

I love crying in whump stories because it's such a familiar human instinct, but it also carries a lot of meaning. Generally, people think crying is a sign of weakness. It's a perfectly natural and normal response to stress, but it's seen as something you should avoid, and oftentimes crying in front of someone you don't know well is uncomfortable for both parties. There’s a kind of stigma around showing this level of emotion. Being overly sensitive is usually viewed as a negative trait.

If someone cries, especially in front of other people, they are stressed enough that they can’t repress that feeling of being overwhelmed. It's a sign of vulnerability. Being pushed to tears can make a character feel completely powerless. It's degrading. It's also one of the few things that is hard to hide. Even if a character manages to keep a stoic front, a few tears and a trembling voice can make that all fall apart.

If a character feels comfortable enough to cry in front of someone, however, they're comfortable enough to be vulnerable with them. They can truly express what they're feeling. There's a strong level of trust involved. They don't feel like they have to pretend. They don't feel like they need to hide all the ugly parts of themselves, because they know they can always depend on that other person.

The UK is OBSESSED with WW1 & WW2 but particularly the latter. Every year so much money goes into remembrance services but here’s the thing: the atrocities of that war will not and should not be forgotten but it distracts from the atrocities committed by the UK.
