You know the common misunderstanding au in the danny phandom rn about vlad being a creep and people thinking hes like a CREEPY CREEP and not just a supervillain creep?

Well imagine danny is going on break or something and his dad wants to bring the whole family up to vlads castle for whatever reason.

Danny, obviously, does not want to waste his ONE FREAKING CHANCE of getting some god damn sleep being tormented by vlad and his stupid birds. Plus, vlad will probably plan some big murder plot for his dad and danny CAN. NOT. HANDLE. THAT. RIGHT. NOW.

So danny decides to make a PowerPoint presentation about why he doesnt want to go.

Obviously he cant reveal vlad or his own halfa status so its mostly just really jumbled information about vlad being creepy.

He gets backup from sam, tucker, jazz, and even val. He also knows his mom already dislikes vlad and knows hes a total creep so all he really needs to do is convince his dad.

But??? As hes compiling evidence??? And rehearsing his presentation with hes friends??? He realizes that it sounds super fucked up???

And like, it’s mostly just bad without all the context. But he realizes that Vlad is actually kinda sick in the head. Danny knows he would never actually do something that terrible, but its supper concering how similar his actions are to like, actual bad people.

Danny isnt mad about it or anything, he’s actually just worried about it Vlad.

Danny is not perfect by any means. But Vlad is the only other member of his species besides, like, his fucking clone (which holy shit Vlad what the fuck) or maybe dan who is also fucked up.

Danny knew that Vlads death definitely messed him up, but he never really thought about Vlads actions beyond “obsessive fruitloop, at it again :/“ and is just now realizing that vlad might need psychological help. Which he feels pretty (REALLY) bad about.

Danny has no idea what to do, and no idea who to go to.

So he sneaks out, doesnt even go ghost as he takes the powerpoint to vlad who obviously freaks tf out because holy shit thats SO MUCH WORSE THAN ANYTHING HE COULD HAVE POSSIBLY IMAGINED. What if he had actually hurt daniel? What if he had hurt his precious Madeline?? He needs help like yesterday! How did he ever get so bad???!

So Vlad freaks, trashes his own house, apologizes to danny, and books it through the portal to find the far frozen or somewhere else he can get help.

Danny is somewhat shellshocked about the whole situation. It doesnt get better when people start investigating Vlads disappearance.

The state of the manor indicates foul play and the police look into it further. Find security tapes. They see danny, frazzled and paranoid, enter Vlads property, everything goes to static, and only danny leaves.

Hes arrested of course, and he and his friends/family are interrogated.

Everybody vehemently denies that Danny would ever do such a thing, but when they are asked if danny has potential motives everyone (except for jack) gets all squeamish.

Its practically common knowledge in Amity Park that the mayor and the weird Fenton child had beef. People just were unsure why.

I think it would be really cool to focus a story around the polices pov of the investigation/ random Amity Parkers interpretation of the events.

Danny being kinda creepy after the accident (because death) could totally make people assume he did it and that would be awesome.

We can also add in de-aged Dani/Ellie and or Dan for that extra spice.

Imagine the fentons finding out about Dannys supposed kids in the context that they are MOTIVES FOR THEIR SON TO MURDER THEIR COLLAGE FRIEND ( AND DANNYS OWN GODFATHER) WHO APPARENTLY GROOMED HIM???!? AND THEY DIDNT EVEN NOTICE??!?

This could totally be a crossover too. Lucifer tv show. Batman. Supernatural. All are good.

Lately Ive seen some awful things about antis and haters making threats and getting artists banned from Tumblr and X. Im new to the Phandom and love pompep but Im scared i'll be targeted if I write and share pompep fics. How do you manage sharing your work so bravely?

Firstly, welcome to the Phandom—and especially Pompous Pep! I have a simple protocol for enjoying a drama-free Tumblr experience:

Preventative Action

1. Find your community. Follow other Pompep fans and supporters and reblog their things. Don't be afraid to leave nice tags; we love and welcome interactions :) You can also join the Pompep Discord server if you enjoy chatting (DM me for details).

2. Turn off anon asks. This will solve 99% of all potential problems, and you can turn it back on whenever you want. Antis are cowards who prefer to hide behind the mask of anonymity. They seldom have the courage to say something with their whole username.

3. Block the obvious haters. This is a big fandom, and at some point you're likely to come across people openly hating on pompep, either on their bio, pinned posts, or comments. Block them. For an added layer of protection, add their username to your Filtering Options.

4. Tag your work appropriately. When posting, make sure your work is tagged correctly (the #pompous pep tag is especially important) so people who like pompep can find it and those who want to avoid it can block the tag. Use Content Labels when applicable.

5. Try to avoid using the platonic tag (#badger cereal) and the romantic tag (#pompous pep) at the same time. Some fans are really touchy about this. I'm not, and I think there are legitimate cases where use of both is applicable, but if you want to minimize friction, just stick with one tag or the other.

If you're not sure which tag to use, ask yourself what your intentions are with your art or fic. Is the goal a romantic relationship? If so, use the pompep tag. If it's truly ambiguous and could be seen either way, use the platonic tag first. You can always add another tag like "okay to tag as pompep", just to let people know they can interpret it however they please.

Responsive Action

If the above guidelines aren't 100% effective, here's what you do:

1. Don't feed the trolls. If you receive any negative asks in your inbox, it's important to NOT engage with them. Delete them, ignore them, don't let them get to you. Antis thrive on attention, so let them starve. Eventually they'll move on when they realize they're not going to get a rise out of you.

The same goes for any negative comment left on your work. Just delete it, block the person who left it, and pretend it never happened.

These asks and comments may come in the form of questions. Example: "How can you ship Danny with Vlad? That's [insert gross accusation here]" Resist the urge to answer these questions. They are not made in good faith. This person just wants to start an argument.

2. Report any harassment. If by some chance you receive a seriously hateful ask, like threats of violence or abuse, take a screenshot for proof/safekeeping, then report the message and the user if they're not anonymous. If the ask is anonymous, use the meatball menu (•••) at the top right to report the message and block the anon.

Final Words

It takes time to develop a thick skin and Don't Give A Fuck attitude, but it can be done. You are a phan. You have every right to be here and enjoy this fandom in peace, just like everyone else. Anyone who believes in harassing others over silly things like which cartoon characters should be allowed to kiss clearly has nothing better to do with their life. The sooner you shut them out, the happier you'll be.

Regarding media: Artists attract a lot more negative attention than writers for reasons I won't get into right now, but if you're mainly a writer, you will enjoy a much quieter fandom experience. Wherever you post your stories—I recommend AO3; DM me if you need an invite—follow the same advice there as I've given here: make sure your work is tagged correctly; support your fellow Pompep fans by reading and commenting on their works, building that community; moderate comments if you're concerned about negativity; block and mute users if they give you any trouble, and you'll enjoy a much more positive fandom experience.

There is strength in community. When you start making new fandom friends, you'll feel a lot less lonely, and that will give you the confidence you need to really have a good time here.

oh absolutely final feud, pre return. i've never understood why people thought they were high in that video—to me it always seemed clear that they were horny+ riding the high of the successful end of the north american leg of ii.

i actually think they likely had had a conversation before leaving canada for australia & the next leg of tour about coming out? not their first conversation, but one confirming the plan to come out the next year because they were far enough into tour to be sure it would be well recieved.

and i think they were far enough out from the high effort parts of that plan that they could just be excited about being out soon. like for me there is no other explanation that makes their behavior for the rest of 2018 make sense.

we literally KNOW that gaining a different and more up to date understanding of the phandom by meeting us on tour changed things for them!!! they absolutely were having these discussions on tour!

all this to say the final feud energy is a combination of triumph over their success, excitement for a free future, and insane horniness. one of them literally puts a hand on the other's thigh when asking what they're playing for.

and i think the second horniest pre return video is halloween pumpkin carving though i think we've* specifically framed it as dumb slut energy rather than fuck energy when discussing it in the past. dan's mesh shirt/candy necklace combo was devised to torment phil and i think the liveshow that took place immediately after they FILMED the video was a part of the torment too.

Like hell we talk about Danny just showing up basically stalking the heros but ok hear me out. Idk honestly how he would fuck with GreenLatern besides like using his ghost powers to try and one up his ring. Like Lantern makes a shield? Danny makes a better one next to it or in front of it. Tbh it’s actually helping Danny get better at his powers so he does this a lot rip Hal (I did not know he was played by Ryan Reynolds maybe ill watch the newer movie)

He refuses to mess with Wonder Woman because the Phandom has told me she is his fav thus he refuses to prank her. He respects her too much and is a huge enough fan that hes too nervous to even approach. Thus she thinks she is this pranksters least favourite since she is never bothered.

Aqua-man (thx for the correction siri) is pretty fun to prank because Danny can follow the man underwater. Idk anything about science of it but imagine Danny like making a space he can talk in with his ice powers (making a bubble of sorts) to make spooky noises at ?Arthur? (R we seriously going with Arthur in this one?) like I assume without actual fish related powers, or with them I havent seen any thing aquaman, you can’t talk underwater. But also if Danny figures out his real name hes 100% gonna be playing the Hey Arthur theme at this man all the time.

He just lowkey overshadows cyborg. Not in a controlling way but just along for the ride kinda way. He was gonna make remarks about his tech but ended up being stunned by how good it is. “Fam I aint gonna lie. I came here to follow you around and make comments like a streamer but your tech is crazy cool. I mean you could have saved a little room with a more compact cooling unit but I mean this is probably some of the best stuff I have seen outside my family!” Or something idk. As for the Flash thats pretty simple. He doesn’t let the Flash run from him. I don’t think Danny could keep up with the Flash at all. One of my new favourite Hazbin Hotel fic AUs is this weird crossover niche of "Alastor is/was a character from another fandom, before he snapped and became who he is today" AUs, eg. "Harry Potter becomes Alastor", and one random "Tim Drake becomes Alastor" fic I found on AO3. Because I find it interesting to try and figure out how to meld the other character's backstory, powers or personality with his.

And that inevitably led my traitorous brain to the idea of "Danny Fenton becomes Alastor" (because now DP and DC are forever associated in my lizard brain, curse you Phandom!).

Which is just...the weirdest thing ever, because they're just so different—like, how the fuck do you set up Danny to become Alastor, of all people?! It feels like the most unfitting character to do this with...

And that's exactly what my brain has decided to see it as a challenge.

Added caveat: this is an AU!Danny specifically from a generic angsty dissection fic scenario, where he's been traumatised by his parents and fucked over by the world (and he has no healthy way to cope)—then he's sent back in time, lost and completely alone

-Danny falls through a natural portal to 1900's Louisiana with no way back (something something, Clockwork's-out-of-the-picture, something something)

-Alastor being a mama's boy? Danny gets taken in by a loving mother figure after getting lost in time—a kind woman familiar with the supernatural who accepts his ghost half right off the bat. He sees her as his family. After a year or so, though, she dies. He spirals again. He dyes his hair brown and starts wearing glasses when he runs away to New Orleans to change himself and cover his tracks.

-Alastor feels like an interesting name for Danny to choose because it means "the avenger", and can also mean "defender of the people" (a meaning more apparent in the Scottish version "Alasdair/Alastair"), but could also have a negative connotation of "persecutor"; the character symbolism writes itself

-the normally tech-savvy Danny who finds old-timey stuff boring would be forced to find something to entertain himself in the 1900's. So he gravitates towards radio, with it being the closest thing he's got to modern tech. Give him several years or so to grow attached to it and enjoy the idea of working in it. He goes from fantasising of radio comms at NASA to a public radio host, playing with all the fancy knobs and dials.

-his ghost half is the reason Alastor's powers/magic in Hell is green

(also I heard someone say the typical human!Alastor design has the "Timmy Turner hairstyle", which I can't unsee now. And it's Danny's hairstyle too. Because we know how well Butch Hartman and originality mix. Male protagonist? There's only one hairstyle for that!)

-he becomes a serial killer because he's snapped over the years after all the shit that's happened to him; he's developed a bitter, cynical and self-aggrandised ego and thirst for justice and revenge, and he's all alone with no one to keep him out of the dark echo chamber leading to villainy

-a serial killer with ghost powers plays cat-and-mouse with cops, and never leaves a trace; before he starts killing, he's already made deals with and intimidated the ghosts that come to New Orleans through other natural portals (it's a portal hotspot) under a new ghostly persona. He has both sides of the city fearing or respecting his power. Every ghost who goes to New Orleans knows whose territory it is. They just never link the ghost and human together. He becomes like an even worse Plasmius. It sets him up for Overlord stuff in Hell from the getgo

-the cannibalism was a...happy accident. On a whim, he decided one guy's crime was too insufferable to die without torment, so he took the guy back and...tortured him the way his ol' folks knew best. He starts cutting people open as if trying to relive what his parents did to him, but from the other end—as the person with all the power. Taste-testing what he cut up came incidentally, but he decided he didn't mind it and made it a routine.

I can imagine a villain!Danny with more narcissistic tendencies, but my main trouble is where the overblown confidence and charming/manipulative skills come from. After all, Danny's pretty socially awkward. How exactly does he grow into that?

What do you think Erik's past was with women, when it comes to dating and women. I'd like to know what your take is.

"dating" is probably not the word I'd use. Delving into the text of the book there are two parts that stick out to me as indicating that Erik may have a history with women other than Christine this segment here from the scene at Apollo's Lyre where Christine is recounting events to Raoul "You wanted to know what I looked like! Oh, you women are so inquisitive! Well, are you satisfied? I'm a very good-looking fellow, eh? … When a woman has seen me, as you have, she belongs to me. She loves me for ever. I am a kind of Don Juan, you know!' And, drawing himself up to his full height, with his hand on his hip, wagging the hideous thing that was his head on his shoulders, he roared, 'Look at me! I AM DON JUAN TRIUMPHANT!' And, when I turned away my head and begged for mercy, he drew it to him, brutally, twisting his dead fingers into my hair." Seems to indicate that this kind of thing has happened before. It is possible Erik is speaking generally and it's not definitive proof but it is interesting, the verbiage he uses.

And this scene towards the end of the book when he has Raoul and the Persian in his torture chamber

"What are you running away for?" asked the furious voice, which had followed her. "Give me back my bag, will you? Don't you know that it is the bag of life and death?"

"Listen to me, Erik," sighed the girl. "As it is settled that we are to live together ... what difference can it make to you?"

"You know there are only two keys in it," said the monster. "What do you want to do?"

"I want to look at this room which I have never seen and which you have always kept from me ... It's woman's curiosity!" she said, in a tone which she tried to render playful.

But the trick was too childish for Erik to be taken in by it.

"I don't like curious women," he retorted, "and you had better remember the story of BLUE-BEARD and be careful ... Come, give me back my bag! ... Give me back my bag! ... Leave the key alone, will you, you inquisitive little thing?"

And he chuckled, while Christine gave a cry of pain. Erik had evidently recovered the bag from her." He says he doesn't like "curious women" and makes a reference to Blue Beard, which is a fairytale about a serial killer who murders his wives. There's a scene in Blue Beard where the most recent wife discovers a room with the bodies of his previous wives. The first quote could be dismissed but this is the second time Erik has indicated a dislike for curious women. Erik's lair is canonically full of traps and features a very cruel torture chamber. By evoking the image of Blue Beard in particular the narrative seems to be further implying that Erik does have some history of women and not a pleasant one. It's possible that Erik is just trying to scare Christine out of looking in the room but it's equally likely that it's not an idle threat. He's shown that he's not above putting hands on Christine and treating her roughly despite his claims to love her. I have a personal theory that Christine is not the first but Erik knows she is going to be the last. I've always kind of run on the idea that throughout the book Erik is aware his health is failing and the clock is winding down for him and that's why Christine is different, because she's his last chance and in the end she does give him, not a living bride, but something much more needed: redemption and forgiveness from someone he's harmed. Proof that he's not unworthy of human compassion. A lot of people in the Phandom don't seem to recognize how dark of a character Erik is. I find him legitimately scary as much as I also find him sympathetic and I think he is fascinating in part because there is something genuinely terrifying about him that tickles my love for horror stories. I feel like it's vague enough that you can leave it up to interpretation, so if you don't really like the idea that he's had women in his past that he ended up killing you can chalk it up to Erik just trying to frighten Christine into compliance but I think it's interesting to look at the darker takes and speculate about the skeletons in his closet.

When you said rpf fallout I immediately checked if you ever were a fan of dnp cause now that, that was some disaster for years. But I do think Charles and Max have a much much more distant relationship both from each other and from the fans. Chestappen vs Lestappen I don't see one being more jokey, maybe cause I interact in Spanish spaces of the fandom but there ARE people who believe it to be real. And checo specially gets asked this a lot (just three times since the last triple header!).

But I agree the general sentiment of avoiding containment breach in any rpf ship should the default. Ollie x Kimi and other rookies worry me a bit, cause I think we are seeing this shift of bromance being a good marketing strategy and it could be a slippery slope from there on.

Those of Phan trauma truly recognise each other blind. You never truly leave the phandom, just as the phandom never truly leaves you.

Okay tbf I didn’t know about the Chestappen lore, thanks for the education! But yeah I just think that jokes and all are fine and most lestappen-leaning tweets or edits I see I enjoy or laugh with. But there are a few who take it too far. Like you said it’s a slippery slope, I don’t want to get to the place where people are happy discussing fic openly on twitter (which I’ve seen!) especially because so many of the content people seem so happy to be openly discussing on twitter is made by people who wanted to keep it within traditional rpf circles of tumblr and ao3. It’s a violation of trust, as much as anything else. Similarly, I lived through the heat waves nightmare—and trust me that was a nightmare for MANY reasons—but it taught me that containment breaches are not fun! Actually! It was least fun for the author of that fic, who I believe ended up quitting fandom entirely because of it.

Again I think a lot of people are misunderstanding my point when I say “rpf should be kept in fandom spaces”, I mean the serious stuff. I don’t mean the lighthearted tiktok edits or the jokey tweets. I mean don’t share fic, don’t share art outside of designated spaces, for the love of god don’t get parasocial with it. Keep it cool, keep it casual. Don’t post anything you wouldn’t be happy discussing at work drinks face to face with someone.

So-- have been fixating on Sonic for a bit-- a few aus have popped into mind and i want to talk about one called "Gone with the Wind", a satbk au

This au takes place immediately following the end of satbk

Upon being declared King, Sonic decides that he does not, in fact, want to be king and wants to go home, and asks merlinda if she could send him home, She denies his request because she believes their needs to be a king.

He decides right then and there that if no one would help him get home, then he might as well do it himself, he bolts away leaving everyone (including caliburn) in shock.

he stops by Griffin(tails-- this is infact based on a fic iykyk) blacksmith and picks up a different sword (a very basic one-- Griffin makes sure its fitted well-- well as well as he was able too considering Sonic is in a rush) under the lie that Caliburn said he should have a back up weapon just in case, After he buys the essentials like a stock of food and a cloak(for a disguise) and leaves town

He camps out in the dragon's cave since he had already slayed the dragon and there weren't any remaining enemies there anymore since King Arthur was gone. The cave becomes his home as he figures out how the fuck to get home

Meanwhile, the knights set up a missing poster asap, Griffin sees the poster and is concerned for Sonic's well being.

Back to Sonic-- he starts making trips to town every few weeks to refill on food-- Griffin catches him one night but agrees to help him by sneaking him food and other supplies he needs, he also finishes customizing Sonic's new sword to his liking

Another thing is that Sonic will train by Challeging passing knights(usually those he thinks are newer based on how they carry themselves n haow they act, etc) to a friendly duel under a different name(we haven't thought of his fake name yet) usually most dont really think about it. The purpose of training is that if hes caught, he wont be defenseless

SPEAKING OF BEING CAUGHT

Gawain recalls how sonic was heading to slay a dragon in the past before being interrupted by himself-- only to continue on his journey after beating him

Lancelot offers to go, Caliburn says he should bring him along to which Lance declines because he might not even be there

Anyways Lance makes the trip, Sonic was near the entrance and noticed him entering and hides towards the top of the cave in the shadows, covering his blue quills as much as possible so he doesn't stand out

Wasn't sure where to mention this so im plopping it here but Sonic made alot of renovations to the Cave so he was more comfortable while he tried to find his way home-- this includes things like small acoves of food or blankets and wooden bridges that he could run across

Back to the "plot", Despite having a genuinely good hiding spot, Lance notices him considering hes very observant and they have a confrontation-- starting with a sword fight

Lance is conflicted, hes unsure if its the right thing to turn in Sonic now. He decides that he wouldn't tell the other knights for now while he cleared his head, and tells Sonic just as much. Want to mention this isn't a guaranteed "I wont turn you in" but its a possibility

This was literally and idea that popped into our head last night so its not completely fleshed out-- we still want to start plotting out how Sonic finds his way home-- atm we want him to talk to the Lady at the Lake at some point for guidance

My Misery Vex redesign

May I present for the Phandom’s consideration: my redesign of Misery Vex, the Weaver

For her physical appearance, I kept the spider theme (that Fartman vomited all over his own horrible design) and made her Egyptian for backstory reasons listed below.  I also decided to make her form a solid black shadow like Spectra, but rather than looking like flame like Spectra or Shadow, I wanted her form to be something flowing and ever changing, a form made of incense smoke and shadow.  Think Eris from the animated Sinbad movie.

The really hard part was trying to some up with something that would be acceptable for TV because Ancient Egypt was A LOT more comfortable with nudity than early 2000’s Nickelodeon. 

Backstory and more art under the cut

In life, she was an Egyptian (or Nubian*) woman from Waset (aka Thebes) during the New Kingdom and daughter of the High Priest in the temple of Amun.  She’d been betrothed to the Pharoah’s son since childhood as part of a political marriage, meant to eventually be queen and named as the God’s Wife of Amun.

To prepare her for her role, she was well educated in history, politics, literature, language, and more.  And as a priestess, she was taught about medicine, the gods, and of course, magic, becoming a powerful sorceress in her own right.

She is his Cleopatra before Cleopatra: well-educated, witty, charming, and politically brilliant.

But before she could marry, she was assassinated, poisoned by a rival.

Even in death, she can’t let go of her desire for power, and after about 50 years, she met a young, but powerful, ghost of a recently slain Sherden Warrior (Pariah Dark).  Seeing an opportunity to seize the power she was denied in life, she approached and formed an alliance with him.

Misery Vex uses her magics and convinces Pariah Dark to sacrifice his eye in ritual, mirroring the gods, in exchange for power.  Pariah steals the eyes of his most powerful opponents as well to absorb their wisdom, power, and most importantly, to create a protective charm against them, leaving many powerful Ancients unable to act directly against him.

Over the next few centuries, they skyrocket in power.  He, through his physical power and military might, becomes the new Ghost King, ruler of the Infinite Realms.  She, through her political savvy and cunning, becomes his queen and confidant, his advisor, influencing his decisions and policies as a literal and metaphorical shadow ruler.

And for the first millennium, it’s good.  She is the Isis to his Osiris and have a love for the ages that puts even Cleopatra and Mark Antony to shame.  Their power continues to grow, and she creates the Crown of Fire and Ring of Rage from the power of fallen enemies.  But as centuries pass, Pariah becomes violent and cruel, corrupted by his power, as he fights to keep his throne.  

He becomes paranoid, never knowing where the next usurper or uprising will come from, and Misery Vex comes under suspicion.  He’s known of her lust for power since the beginning.  Who’s to say that she’ll stay satisfied with her current position.  When will she decide that she wants to rule directly?  Without his “interference?”

And so, he casts her out.

How dare he?!  All those years by his side.  Always loyal.  Always supporting him, calming his rage and his worries, and this is how he repays her?!

Heartbroken and furious, she begins planning her vengeance and approaches the Ancients.  She’s no fool; she can see what his growing madness is doing to the Realms.  The Ancients don’t trust her, but they have little choice.  Even if they all worked together, he’s still too powerful for them to destroy, and her own magic prevents many of them from attacking him.

She creates the Sarcophagus of Forever Sleep, using all the magic she’s gained over the millennia, and finally, she inscribes the sarcophagus with Pariah Dark’s secret name, his true name that he carried in life.  A name only she remembers. 

With Misery’s assistance, the Ancients manage to overthrow Pariah and seal him away. 

However, Misery Vex is too dangerous to leave loose, and the Ancients lock her away while she’s too weak to fight back.  It’s nothing as complete as the Sarcophagus, but it limits her power and influence over the Realm.

Still, she is patient, and she is endless, so she waits.

And waits.

And waits, until news reaches her of a young boy who managed to defeat Pariah is single combat.  He former husband is not destroyed, only contained, but the Realms are abuzz with talk of this new heir presumptive.

And so, she begins to stir again, making plans within plans within plans, as she moves the pieces of her senet board into place.  She’s waited centuries; what’s a few more years?

After all, what’s a young king without his Queen Mother?

* I modeled her appearance after Nyakim Gatwech who is Sudanese, so Nubian might be more appropriate or accurate.  But she was definitely a black woman who lived in Egypt.

Personality:

She’s extremely intelligent and cunning.  She’s unafraid to use any tool at her disposal to her advantage, whether that be her wit, knowledge, magic or sexuality and is extremely manipulative.  There are very few times she acts directly, preferring to operate through subterfuge or a cat’s paw.

What makes her truly dangerous isn’t that she’s evil, but that she’s self-serving.  She’ll work with whatever side best serves her own ambitions best at the moment, so there’s never a surefire way to know who’s side she’d truly on since she left Pariah.

She’s also more fluid in her appearance than most ghosts, changing her wardrobe every decade or so to keep up with the latest fashion, and then going back to her original look for a while.  She also has a fondness for wigs and has amassed an impressive collection of them throughout the years.

The Phandom has collectively decided that Maddie was born and raised in Rural Arkansas based on the facts that she has a sister who lives there and also we have no canon evidence of where she was born.

BUT Alicia said in the show that she’s “Been out here nearly a decade.” So she didn’t grow up there.  Also she and Maddie do not have similar accents.

So with this info, I purpose that instead of Maddie and Alicia being born and raised in Rural Arkansas, we as the Phandom can do the fun, spicy thing and write it so that the two sister ran away from a checkered past that they hope never catches up with them. Maddie ran away to live out her dream to be a ghost hunter and Alicia moved to Spatoon because of a whirlwind romance that didn’t pan out and lead to divorce

So what sounds most interesting?

The two sisters committed a crime and skipped town before they were caught? Maybe Vlad finds out and uses the info to blackmail Maddie into leaving Jack while Danny has to investigate a 26 year old mystery his mother’s wrapped up in

Or they grew up in a crime family? An abusive combat obsessed family that pushed them to fight in the ring? It would explain why the sister are both so tough. A controlling wealthy family that tried to force them to conform? Maybe Vlad originally met Maddie at a rich preppy high school where they became friends.

Ooh! What if Maddie was born into a ghost worshiping cult? The ones that always seem to come up in this Phandom! The ones that always tried and failed to summon Pariah Dark! Due to it always failing, Alicia decidedly left not believing in ghosts at all and Maddie came to see how evil the ghost king was and left her family vowing to destroy the very ghosts her parents worshiped. Imagine putting that together with ‘Ghost king Danny AU’?

We could also go funny with this.  Maddie was raised in Derry Maine.  One day she gets a call from some childhood friends and is told “It’s back.”
