ONF and their high maintenance S/O (mostly about makeups and manicures)

dislcaimer : I dont support the mentality of aegyoing/manipulating/sabotaging your partner to buy you stuffs. Gifts are gifts but its not their are not full responsibility. It is also not a duty/obligation for your partner to recognize delicate makeup product when they can't and buy you your makeup product as well.

What i am saying even though here is that bf gifting lipsticks it does not mean guys should do it and also does not mean that if your own bf could not do it then they dont love you. ok let go to hcs.

Hyojin

I think he will ask you to drop the heavy makeup after you two are comfortable with each other. To him it was not your makeup that impressed him to date you.

He is the type that "I don't get make up but ok you look good" type of person, I mean have you watched how he get ready to go out in the Berlin trip? He just do basic stuffs not even a delicate touch XD

I think because he has a sister back at home? But if you think he will at least know a bit of stuffs because he has a sister then you are wrong lol

But he does understand if you wanna doll up a bit. I think he personally appreciates those times when he caught himself felt that you are dazzling.

I think its cute that maybe you only do basic light make up when going out with him but then when you join him with his friends, you wanna look good so you will put on proper make up (not over heavy ones). But Hyojin be like , " oh, come on... Its just my friends XD"

He is the type that waits for you, unless you have really bad time management, he will come over to rush you. "Hey hey hey, we are gonna be late"

Does not interested at make up or beauty stuffs so he would always questions with curiosity when he saw stuffs like.. " Glue? for what? Eyelashes? Won't it be dangerous?" (Especially you are the type that watches make up vids)

Bonus, you are in charge of his skin care, most of the time.

another bonus, the type that laughs at you if you are the type that opens your mouth when you are drawing eyeline

Changyoon

Very similar to Hyojin so I will skip make up and focus on the nail polish

(Also expanding the Changyoon who loves your hand hcs)

He knows of nail polish and the basic stuffs like base, polish and top, but did not pay full attention on manicure and pedicure stuffs

So when the first time you brought out mini UV light to cure your nails, he goes " Woah they got stuffs like that? why no one told me? I spend minutes blowing at my nails to dry during BB era"

Bonus if you work in nail salon or pick up manicure as hobby, i think you might share a bit of design you found online and ask him his opinions. His will comment a bit.

Also you might grasp his hands and try out newly thought designs on his hands

Bonus if he blushes and burst into laughter until you jokingly snap at him, "Ya, its not the first time I do design test out using your hands? Why are you beet red?"

To go deep into his mentality, he does not hate make up, he gets it. But for manicure he acknowledges it as art expression of oneself as well.

I think he prefer short nail manicure, once you get a longer sharper designs and you cant do your task like how you did normally, Changyoon nags you.

Also Changyoon thoughts on fake nail stickers, "Super convenient!"

He would love to try do your manicures if he got the chance. Not just painting plain color, he might also try following designs that your show him.

Seungjun

He is a delicate boy hahahah (watch leaders Berlin trip then you will get it)

Not the type that can recognize different shades of lipstick or foundation, but he still have basic knowledge. I do see is the type that will keep in mind what color you uses and will present you your favorite lipstick color. Or even randomly choose 1 color that he thinks it might look good on you.

I think you two will stand side by side in front of mirror and do make up and help each other check a bit. Especially eye shadow color, and hairstyles (if it is outdoor date day)

The type that notices changes on you but will tease you by keep saying the wrong answers. "Hey you look different? Is it the eyeshadow? Or was it a new earring? eh I was wrong?*devilsh smile"

He has two sisters so he is used and knows that girls and high maintenance people wears makeup. BB cream at least.

Fascinated when he first time sees you do your own manicure, he saw Changyoon paint nails during BB era, but if it is his first time seeing you painting quite complicated nail design from scratch, he goes "OOOOOOH so thats is how it done? 0A0"

I think he might introduce his sisters to you if you are a makeup artist or if you work at nail salon

Bonus if you are the type that do really minimum skin care, because of his (idk if i am using the right word) eagerness of doing facial mask, you might pick that up too lol

Both of you having facial mask on and chilling on the couch watching TV

another bonus, you two bickering because either one of you made the other one laugh too much making the mask cracked if it is dried up cream type.

Jaeyoung

He is like a combination of Hyojin and Seungjun?

Not sure on his skin care stuff but he will do basic stuff and I think he focus on stylizing his hair more? (but unlike Seungjun, Jaeyoung is more on styling using wax and hairspray)

the type who cant tell difference in lipstick shade lol

He thinks light makeup with less procedure/product look good on you. Especially if you are the one who is super insecure and wakes up super early to do heavy but natural looking makeup before work

Owh special mention, natural shade/nude shade themed makeup is his favourite

He has high respect on people who are high maintenance, but if you are too over enthusiastic he will tell you to slow down and go light heart on it, "Its to boost confidence/feel good about yourself right? Its not to impress others by overdoing it right?"

If you are a tiktok-er. I think you might ask Jaeyoung to do the my boyfriend did my make up challenge (To add, you cant trust Hyojin and Seungjun on this cos high chance if their prank mode kick in, rip. Changyoon will do it tho but you need to persuade him. Jaeyoung and Minkyun are the easiest to ask)

If sometimes Jaeyoung caught seeing you watching manicure design vids or you happened to try out a new manicure design from tutorial you saw online, he will sit beside, try hard to not disturb you. But while watching he will goes "Uwa, Shingi hada/ this is intriguing/amazing." (Try watch Mini game heaven season 2 0316, when he is the one holding the word board, the face he make as he is watching the leaders appeared in my head when writing this lol)

bonus, if you are doing really intricate work like placing a small sticker or draw a small design or sticking a small trinket? on your nails, Jaeyoung will also focus with you by holding his breath as he watches you doing your tasks

Minkyun

You trusted this boy to do BF do my makeup challenge and you regret it soon after, but the view results are amazing lol

but i think their S/O might lowkey get trauma lol and always decline Minkyun offer to help do makeup hahah

But again, when he do try to do it properly, he is ok

bonus, you two had to get another mirror because Minkyun is standing in front yours to check himself out every time he styles his hair a single bit, and it delays your pace of doing your make up.

Appreciate effort of you wanna look good, also he is the type who sits behind S/O while waiting them to finish up makeup (others will wait outside, But Minkyun is the type I want see whole process of how their S/O "transform")

Also the one who will sit beside you as you do your own manicure, or, the bf who will sit beside their S/O at nail salon watching the whole process.

But his hands are busy as he is also curious, so he will reach out to check the nail polish bottle or even the UV cure machine

So, he is also the type that will follow you into Sephora or makeup selling shops (is not that the others wont follow, but I want to highlight specifically for Minkyun). Hands busy, checking out stuffs.

Unlike Seungjun, the type that really cant tell if you change new lipstick or switched new eyeshadow.

BUT I THINK THIS PERSON, HE WILL SUDDENLY DROP A NEON EYESHAOW OUT OF BLUE IN FRONT OF YOU WHEN YOU ARE PAYING. You are gonna fluster if you are not the type who do daring colors. Minkyun only giggles and say " You wont know if you don't like it if you try?"

the funny bit, its not even him paying when he wants you to try lol

He is more of skincare type person. Similar to Seungjun, both of you cuddling with sheet masks on.

Yuto

The one who sticks to basic stuffs, skincare mostly

Also the type who will try to do makeup challenge diligently, asking you how should he do it rather than making a mess on your face.

The type that gives you thumbs up and affirming nods when you ask him how do you look.

He won't comment too much or nags/persuade you to stop doing heavy makeup eventually because he respects effort and confidence boost behind your makeup/high maintenance mentality

But he is flustered when you suddenly did a "I did a instagram summer gal makeup and show my bf" (for example) as it was way different and you look different. The moment you suggest to make this makeup theme as your usual, YUTO PANICKED, "Stop, stop, Mon sori yo? / What did you just say?"

IF you are office worker, he will nag at you if you are thinking straight to wear that makeup to office lol

The type that just quietly follows behind you when you are doing your shopping tour at Sephora or makeup shop.

But he will stop you if he sees your eyes gleaming as you stand at lipsticks corner lol (If you are the type who loves to collect and have too much lipsticks)

Occasionally surprise you with your fave lipstick color as well. Especially on early days of the relationship, you think he is the type that does not care. But turns out he is observant (because it is you so he is observant at your favorite stuffs)

Owh... i think he will be the perfume sensitive type person? He will mention what type of fragrance that he think you will go along well with.

Also I think the type who will recognizes if you changed perfume. Also the type who recognizes if you used his.

He might ask you to try on a sample and then you two might get a couple lover perfume/fragrance.

I’m doing this for fun simply because I'm rewatching them all so,

Here's my personal ranking for Every Gorillaz Music video, based both on song and the video itself:

(This is going to be a long post)

PHASE ONE:

Tomorrow Comes Today: 7/10. I love this song and the video fits its vibe, but its still pretty simplistic and not a whole lot of actual animation and no story, so it gets points off for that.

Clint Eastwood: 10/10. I love this one honestly. Its still so charming after all this time and showcases the band well for their early days. Love the more moody tone of it, and I always love seeing the band actually play instruments in their videos too. Bonus points for Murdoc's laugh opening this one because I love that.

Rock The House: 9/10. Pure fun. I don't have a lot of commentary for it, I just think its fun and I love the song itself too. One point off for Murdoc thrusting his hips too many times for my eyes tho.

19-2000: 10/10. This one was the first Gorillaz video that I saw and it really is just a nice non plot connected video. The 3D animation still manages to hold up because of its mix with 2D animation in my opinion and I enjoy it.

Rockit: 5/10. I like the song but the video is kinda meh.

PHASE ONE MV'S OVERALL: Overall I like phase one and I miss Del. Bring him back.

PHASE TWO:

Dirty Harry: 8/10. 2D is just vibing so hard in this video and I'm living for it. That’s all that matters. (Side note but I love the version of this video they did for the BRIT's as well.)

DARE: 10/10. Noodles time to shine, a perfect song, what more could you ask for?? (Also love the bit with Murdoc at the end of course.)

Feel Good Inc: 10/10. This one is obvious if you know me at all. Murdoc playing his bass is what sells this one for me cause I enjoy the animation. The songs amazing and one I find comforting to listen to, and the mood of the video fits it perfectly. Theres some really fun shots with lighting while 2D is standing at the window too in the tower in here that I've always liked.

El Mañana: 6/10. I love this song but it makes me sad and so does the video.

PHASE TWO MV'S OVERALL: Phase One is iconic for its art style and for being The Beginning, but Phase Two is my favorite of the two for its art. I love how these videos are animated, and even if Demon Dayz is my least favorite album, the songs in these videos are all very good. Pretty solid as a whole all things considered.

PHASE THREE:

Stylo: 10/10 LISTEN, I KNOW SOME PEOPLE HATE THE CGI, BUT I LOVE IT. It’s so expressive, this song is one of my absolute faves, I’m sorry to be such a Murdoc liker but hes so much fun in this video and so expressive and it starts the story off for Plastic Beach. I love it so much.

On Melancholy Hill: 7/10. It’s not a bad video, and I love the song a lot, but...not a lot actually happens in the video aside from the bits with Noodle. Bonus points however go to just how seamlessly it puts 2D and 3D animation together, and for how cute 2D looks this whole video.

Rhinestone Eyes: 9/10. WOULD BE A 10/10 IF WE’D GOTTEN OFFICIAL ANIMATION FOR IT ;-; (The fan animated video for it tho is Very very good and i applaud that whole team.) Amazing song, this video has the most story packed into it so far from all the other videos and it’s memorable from its storyboards for that alone.

Doncamatic: 10/10 Listen...Listen I know its a one off and it doesn't really have anything in it but I’m obsessed because its one of my favorite Gorillaz songs tbh and I love Daley’s outfit in it so it gets a full pass from it.

PHASE THREE MV’S OVERALL: I love every video this phase tbh, none of them are bad. All of them are fun,and even if Melancholy Hill is a little slow, it’s still enjoyable. I love this phase because they all connect and I know I’m not the only one who feels that way either.

PHASE FOUR:

Hallelujah Money: 7/10. It’s not at all bad, but I’m as not fond of this song, and the video itself is much too trippy for me. Still has its own merits tho that I won’t knock it for even if it’s not my personal taste.

Saturn Barz: 10/10. Everything about this video is amazing. Character designs and as a comeback for the bands animated counterparts, it was perfect. I loved hearing them actually speak again too it made the whole thing so fun. The song is fuckin awesome and it fits the vibe of the whole video. Bonus points for the more lineless animation style they gave everyone in this video, it was a really neat change from past phases. My one complaint is again stop making me see so much naked Murdoc, I may like him but not like that.

Sleeping Powder: 6/10. I am so split when it comes to the mo cap models. This songs good but the video is again too trippy for me.

Strobalite: 9/10. Would have been 10/10 if Russel got to dance with 2D and Noodle, but other than that its pretty damn good. The mo cap looks way less awkward in here, particularly Murdoc and Russel. Also hilarious that Murdoc made a deal with the devil, and the guy who played him is actually his voice actor irl. This songs too much fun to vibe to as well.

PHASE FOUR MV’S OVERALL: Not much for story, but makes up for it in updated art and great music again. Solid overall yet again. I like it.

PHASE FIVE:

Humility: 20/10. Literally every single person I know who’s seen this video loved it. The animation is Beautiful, the song is so fuckin catchy, Jack Black is in it! What more do you want!! (The only thing I could have asked for was to see more of Ace but that’s its only flaw.)

Tranz: 9/10. I love this song so much but this video is Again just a little too trippy for me. However, we get to see Ace just jamming out in this video and I’ll take the trippiness just for that.

PHASE FIVE MV’S OVERALL: I was surprised there wasn't at least one more video for this phase honestly? I feel like Kansas or Souk Eye would have made for great videos for this phase. That aside tho, both the videos it does have are a lot of fun. My literal only complaint is that I wanted to see more of Ace. Bring him back in the future.

PHASE SIX:

Momentary Bliss: 8/10. This songs fine, but what sells it for me is the video is more slice of life/a day in the life of the studio. I’m always a fan of those moments. Bonus points goes to Murdoc trying to fuckin poison Jamie and it backfiring on him.

Désolé: 10/10: ooooh this song is so beautiful...I love it so much. 2D Noodle and Russel got to have such a fun time in this video and they deserve it. And poor Murdoc, having his little sad times by his asshole self. I love him but I think he deserved it. The others needed a good break from the bullshit and I’m glad they got it.

Aries: 6/10. Video itself is kinda boring, but the song is nice. Murdoc deserved to be left behind in Désolé after what he tried to pull here.

Friday the 13th: 3/10. I don’t care for this video and I really don’t care for the song. Not much else to say.

PAC-MAN: 6/10. Video’s fine, I like some of the little details in it, but it’s nothing special. The song itself is nice tho, super calming, I like it.

Strange Timez: 20/20 MY GOD I LOVE THIS ONE SO MUCH...VISUALS ARE SO FUN, I LOVE ROBERT SMITH SO I LOVE HIM IN HERE, ITS JUST A GOOD TIME ALL AROUND!

The Pink Phantom: 5/10 I just don’t really care for this song?? I like Elton John but I couldn’t get myself to like this one no matter how many times I’ve listened. 2D got to be happy in this video tho so I’ll give it a pass.

The Valley of the Pagans: 6/10. This song fuckin slaps but the video feels like a boring redo of 19-2000 except for it’s ending. It gets points for giving everyone Plastic Beach feelings at the end and hyping up the video after it.

The Lost Chord: 20/20. Y’all knew this was coming. This was something I’d BEEN hoping for story wise and I finally got it. Was it maybe a little rushed? Yes. But GOD it was such a nice thing to see them say “hey we’ve wrapped up this part of the story for good and want everyone to move on from it, so we’ve given it a properly acknowledged final send off.” And tangibly seeing everyone's emotions laid out about the island and their times there was very nice. And I know Jamie and Damon have stated Murdoc is irredeemable, blah blah yes I know hes an asshole still, but I WILL think about Murdoc in this video and how he seemed actually regretful and what that means to me and the fact that it was no one else but 2D himself being the one to reach out to Murdoc in the end to save him until my dying breath, thank you very much. And this song?? Fuckin beautiful, it had those Plastic Beach vibes again and felt good for it’s send off song, I love it.

PHASE SIX MV’S OVERALL: I may be a little split on some of them and on Song Machine as a whole, but tbh I love the phase six art style so much and most times the videos were pretty good. Bringing back PB in the end was something I always wanted too so it really does get bonus points from me for that. I’m 50/50 on them overall. The great ones are great, and the meh ones are just kinda boring, so it evens out in the end.

STAND ALONE VIDEOS MENTION:

Do Ya Thing: 10/10. I’ve said before I love the 3D animation and the slice of life stuff, so this one’s obviously a favorite, and you really cant go wrong with an Andre 3000 feature either.

Superfast Jellyfish: 3/10. This song is kinda fun but I don’t give a single shit about the music video.

Garage Palace: 8/10. Very fun pixel visuals for a change along with a killer song, super enjoyable.

So what’s my final verdict on Gorillaz and their long music video history?

Honestly for a group thats been going as long as they have, I dont think they have too many misses in their catalog. The ones that aren’t as fun are just kinda there, but the videos that really stand out stand out far above the ones that don’t hit the mark as well and in the end it all feels like a good balance. No band has a perfect video every time, but the ones that Gorillaz did well they did amazing on and I enjoy it immensely when that happens.

Sidenotes after watching all of those:

For the love of god please put Russel in the videos more, please, he deserves it and I would love to see him more.

On that note, BRING DEL BACK WITH HIM TOO!!

And speaking of characters to bring back, I want Ace to come back and join Murdoc sometimes, even if its only once or twice more, I need to see them interact PLEASE.

Last note but Jamie, please, I’m begging, show less of mostly naked or fully naked of Murdoc in future videos, we’ve had our fill by now.

I Passed (I think) And I Am Back!!! (For some time) (Fic schedule and just some FYI’s)

Heyyoooo loves!!! I hope you guys are having an amazing week besides quarantine and whatnot and are safe, happy and healthy!!!😊😊

Okay so I am posting this for a couple reasons... The first is to say I am SOOOOOO SORRYYYYY I haven’t been responding to asks, messages, and requests!!!!! If any of you take psychology or have studied it you guys know its very very very difficult. Despite enjoying it i am so close to having a mental breakdown every-time i see my book. Besides taking a stupid hard course i take 7 courses in total 😖😖... Yes I am well aware that I am very dumb for torturing myself like that haha but anyway I also have a side job of selling art (Paintings/ Portraits) so I can make some extra cash to support myself. You guys can imagine how busy that had made me!! But for the next two weeks I have no courses so I promise to reply on time (that includes the ones i am yet to reply to 😅😅) and post One fic every two three days!

The second thing I want to say is a HUGE GINORMOUS MASSIVE THANK YOU! 🥺🥺🥺 I expressed on the top of my last fic that some people had been mean to me about fic writing because I take so long (separate notes: if you put ‘You are Worth it’ together its 11 fricking thousand words...omg!!) However, the amount of people who sent in submissions and messages telling me how much they love my fics and that its okay for me to take time honestly made me tear up. I get stressed super easily so when i read them they literally made me so happy and excited to write more fics. On top of that i don’t often stand up to people cause i think why bother especially on the internet and so for the first time i did and SOO MANY OF YOU SUPPORTED MEEEEEE!!!! YYAYAYAY!!! I am so grateful and reply to each one of you but still wanted to say a collective thankyou!! 💖💖💖

Okay Third thing, So if any of you have read my bio you know I have ADHD. For those of you who dont know it roughly means organisation, attention and just focusing does not come naturally to me. Why i am telling you this is because it explains why I have a hard time texting back cause i usually put it in the back of my head and then forget about it. I cant promise ill fix it right away but ill promise to do my best that I can!!!!!

Okay Last thing which is Fic related and so you guys might notice/care about more 😂😂😂 Okay soooo I had started this blog a long time back however I didnt think I was any good at the time so I didn't continue posting stuff. Then I put the ‘You are Worth It’ fic for Lucifer and honestly the reaction I got to that was so heartwarming!!! (Ps if you ever ever ever feel that way I am right here... believe me when I say I know how it feels. I am a curvy Indian writer/ painter! You guys have no idea how much I have stood out and have felt the way the m/c in that fic did so I will always be open to listen without any judgement whatsoever if you ever feel the need to talk to someone!!!!) So I continued writing and put out the other parts to that fic as well as a Beel fic and despite that not doing as well I am still so happy to see you guys liked it. Earlier I was going to stop putting up anymore out but i’ve decided I will continue the blog and hopefully give you guys writing you love just as much 🥰🥰🥰 However I wont lie it gets a bit overwhelming so I thought best to put a few rules up (and also tell you all the fandoms i write for).

RULES:

Some of these Fics are very clearly 18+ so pretty please if you are below 18 don’t read them. I am trusting you guys enough (I have a feeling I will regret this) so if you are not 18 then don’t read them!!!!! I will make plenty of all-user-friendly ones so yeah!

Second I refuse to write anything even remotely Racist and sexist. Also if I am not comfortable with a certain kink/ type of fic I WILL NOT WRITE IT. I am happy to write whatever you request but if I am not comfortable with it I will let you know so please understand and respect my boundaries.

If the characters in the fandom are related I am sorry it’s not happening. If they are sharing an experience with M/C? Sure! For example Beel x M/C x Belphie? Perfect! However Beel x Belphie is NOT happening.

not to be that person who asks a googleable question but wtf is hazbin hotel bc i googled it and the only “critical” thing i could find was a typo-ridden article of someone saying it has good animation and its haters are stupid. i was able to glean what it is/what it’s about but idk about the discourse lmao

Im actually so glad u asked this. Here's the lowdown, this is my definitive answer to hazbin shit from here on out, unless new info comes about of course.

Hazbin hotel is an independent cartoon by vivziepop. Most people (that ive seen) have agreed that the pilot of the show really isnt that great but the reason it has so many fans is bc of the entertaining livestreams, massive amounts of canon content produced (she has had these characters for years), unique art style, and the characters. (Ass ugly but unique.)

Its haters are totally justified bc of some of the "controversial" (read: bad) things vivziepop has done. Here's the conclusion that my friends and classmates (several of whom are Black, one Hispanic woman, and one trans woman...nellie if ur reading this i 💜 u) and i came to after discussing this stuff. I am NOT saying "well my black/trans friend said it's ok so i dont have to think about it!" this is based on a few different conversations that my friends and i have had about this topic so what im saying is that my opinion was formed by talking about this situation with multiple people affected by the controversy.

One controversial thing is a drawing u can easily find on google (called beastiality.jpg i believe?) It's a cropped (chest and up, but hes obv naked) drawing of vivziepops character, drawn by vivziepop, moaning, with a snake around him. The character is 17. Many people have interpreted this as child porn. I dont think this image is pornographic, i think it's a stupid joke (it was even tagged as a joke iirc) and completely inappropriate but since it's 8 years old on top of not being porn, i think it's just an example of a dumb drawing. That being said, i would NEVER argue that someone who is uncomfortable w the drawing (im uncomfortable with it! It's gross just not porn) or considers it porn is wrong. They are entitled to that opinion and i would never expose them to vivziepops work or talk about her stuff around them if they expressed to me that they disliked the image.

Another thing is that she drew a doodle of two racist TERFs. This is the one where my friends of color, my friends who are black, and my friends who are trans women took the lead. I sat back for this part and here's their and my opinion on this after talking about it and verbally going through this whole situation.

She was following these women (who had done blackface and stuff) and drew art of them. The art was a "quick doodle" that she did apologize for and she said she didn't realize the extent of their beliefs. She knew they werent great but hadnt consumed much of their content in depth. I believe her bc while ive never followed anyone as bad, ive certainly followed some pieces of shit and didnt notice for months simply bc im not online all the time and bc of the volume of people i follow, combined with the non chronological algorithms lately.

At the risk of screwing myself, im going to admit that there was about a year or so of my life where i enjoyed The Amazing Atheist. I was even subbed to him. I was a nonbinary lesbian (2 things he cant stand lmaoo) in catholic school and therefore i strictly watched his videos about theological stuff since thats what was frustrating me at the time. I had no clue the type of evil racist, transphobic, homophobic (yes ik hes bi), misogynistic things he thought, said, and did, bc i didnt watch those videos. I literally only watched select theological ones that could be of use to me while edgily debating my teachers (sorry mrs macdougal but u had it coming). I was about 15 at the time and im 19 now. Im sorry to everyone i hurt by ever having supported him. I had one of his quotes written in the inside of my religion notebook in high school. I regretted it and ripped the page out the moment i discovered the truth about him. I cant stress enough how much I HATE HIM. Thats an example of what i think happened here tho.

One of my friends who is a trans woman said (paraphrasing) "i think the worst thing shes done is that terf art but i believe the apology especially bc it was a quick drawing."

That being said, i would NEVER argue with someone who wanted nothing to do w vivziepop bc of this. That's their right. 100%. I would never expose them to her work after that.

The last thing i remember is something about a pedophilic couple in a comic but i heard it was a 17 year old and a 19 year old. Im 19 and if one of my peers did that i wouldnt say pedophile but id say ur a fucking weirdo, BUT, the kids were fake and being written by an adult so i can totally see her thinking that age gap is much less of a big deal than it really is. Like she forgot what it's like at this age. Idk how true any of that part is tho, i heard that info entirely secondhand.

Another thing to do with racism is that there's a joke within the show where one character says to the other

"don't get your taco in a twist"

"Was that supposed to be racist or sexist?"

"Whichever one pisses you off more"

I thought that was gross but one of my friends pointed out that vivziepop is of el salvadorian descent so that's her business. Like if i made a lesbian joke of equal or greater offensiveness than that and someone tried to call me lesbophobic over it id be like "that's literally my territory."

Oh speaking of which that character's name is vaggie and shes a lesbian but it's not pronounced w the same G you'd hear in "vagina." Vivziepop seems to name characters weirdly (like how in helluva boss theres a guy named blitzo and the o is silent) so maybe it's a pussy joke but i have no idea.

The animation was.................better than i could do, i wanna say the faces and gestures were good but god i remember there was a part with a car and my gf had to pause so i could laugh my ass off at it. I wouldn't describe the animation as a highlight but i liked the style in motion i thought it was a fun change. Vivziepops style is not appealing imo but i appreciate it as an art student and as someone whose friends all like she ra and steven universe where every character looks the goddamn motherfucking same, and while its chaotic and i dont care for it, the style actually works way better in motion than you'd think.

A good rule that i def use is to assume hazbin fans are guilty until proven innocent. If someone says they dont care about the discourse surrounding it and like it no matter what, RUN! They would support the show even if the creator was in fact a pedophile, or had done the blackface/was a terf herself! They probably support some horrible ppl and are probably "anti antis." A lot of them are minors tho so i'd say block and move on.

So, do i like it or not? Im an art student and all my friends like it so while i didnt think it was funny, i do fuck with it. At the convention this weekend my friends and i had a convo that led to me drawing an ahego hoodie where the faces were angel dust (a character's) face. It was a joke that i could make a killing by selling that in a booth at a con.

Theres really nothing compelling about the show but my friends like it so i join in on their conversations, and i do have a soft spot for angel dust bc he's like a worse, less amazing and gorgeous version of one of my characters, Candy, the love of my life.

A lot of people say the show was edgy/offensive and maybe im just desensitized but besides the taco thing i didnt pick up on that whatsoever??? The Archer episode "Swiss Miss" is worse than helluva boss and hazbin combined and even archer isn't offensive.

Im probably not aware of all the "discourse" (aka people being reasonably uncomfortable by weird and bad shit this random woman has done, and other ppl saying their opinions are wrong when it's literally just an opinion about a show) so if anything she's done isnt included in here it's not to defend vivziepop, this is genuinely all i know. I wouldnt describe myself as a fan of hers.

Night of the Full Moon Character Reviews: The Big Bosses(Minus Werewolf)

Hello again

I know I said I’d be talking about the Hunter, Old Mage, Fallen Priest and so on today, but I realized that those characters were actually more interesting in the context of other characters, so I put them off for later. I decided instead to talk about the main bosses of the game, as it so happens, are the closest people to Red Riding Hood. Because this game wants to be an ironicy soap opera/anime that way.

When I say Big Bosses, I mean that you always fight one of these characters at the end of the game. Unless you’re like me and you start all over at the end because you’re bored and tired of all four of them playwise.

Werewolf

Wait, no, never mind. This is another one of those characters who’s more interesting in the context of different, non-Red Riding Hood Characters. We’re saving this boi for later. But, you shouldn’t too surprised, if you read the title. Instead, I’ll just use this space to talk about a mechanic.

Throughout the game, you can get ‘courage’ and ‘reputation’ points by talking to characters. Very very generally speaking, you get courage points by doing brave things, and you get reputation points for doing nice things. You also can get courage points when a character talks shit about the werewolf, and reputation points when a character talks shit about the witch. So naturally, if you have more courage in the end, you get to fight the wolf, and if you have more reputation, you get to fight the witch. I guess what they’re going for is only a meanie would fight this doggo? And the witch is who any empathetic person would hate???

I feel like the latter is not the case, but more on that later.

Witch

“Only your Hope family can lift the dark magic curse. This is what the priest is most afraid of. That’s why monsters run wild on full moon nights. First they made your grandmother disappear and then they drew you into the forest...but they never anticipated that you would make it this far.”

By the way, you’re part of a prophecy. Only someone in your family can lift the curse on the forest. jsyk

Yeah so, as you see, the Witch’s description does not really tell us much about the witch herself. This description also pretty unique in that none of the other character descriptions go into the second person like this. The description also kind of hints that Red dies in the timeline where she fights the witch, so that’s depressing.

Nah, to figure out what the witch is about, you have to delve into the fragments around her.

So, you actually do encounter the witch earlier in the game. In the third or sometimes second chapter, she will recruit to find some magic apples she lost. She makes a mention about suspecting a queen of stealing them. The apples, I guess, are just lying around on the forest floor, and you bite into each of them bc you’re a dumb lkid. Each apple changes your stats by a few points and the witch does not at all seem upset that you hand her a bunch of bitten fruit at the end. In fact, she offers you the choice of two random buffs, so that’s fun.

You’re likely to hear about her way before that, though, depending on who you talk to. Generally anyone who’s been cursed feels like it’s the witch’s fault.

But if you choose to fight her(or you might not get a choice in the matter) she accuses you of stealing said apples. She’ll also talk to you throughout the battle until you defeat her- a trait that only the big bosses and a few of the newer ones have. Her lines...make her sound pretty unhinged. She’s speaks of disbelief that you would do such a horrible thing, and threatens you with with her magic, and talks about how misunderstood she is.

When you defeat her, she’s got a really interesting line, tho.

“No! I don’t want to fight you! I can’t!”

Huh.

Before I move on, let me talk about this other witch character.

Yep. That sure is the art style this game is going with.

So this is one of the shopkeepers. There are four different shops you can find along the way, only two of which have characters you can see in them. This character is known as the Witch Apothecary...but you can only see that on the outside of her store. Otherwise she’s just called “Witch”.

The thing is, along the way, characters will talk about the Witch and, they don’t specify that it’s not the one with the white hair. They just talk about The Witch like she’s the only witch that matters. So is this woman not really a witch? A witch wannabe? Nah, we already have one of those characters. Could it me that the shopkeepers don’t actually exist in the story of the game? That would bum me out, bc there’s this lesbian owl I want to be real.

But...I think they’re the same person using shapeshifting. Or if you want a really wild theory, maybe there are time travel hijinks and she’s the Magic Apprentice grown up. But I’m going to go ahead with the former.

Anyhoo. I like the witch. I’m gonna give her 🍎🍎🍎🍎 four apples

Priest

“They mistakenly thought that on the full moon night they could help the monsters quietly eliminate Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother. Once the Hope family was wiped out, the legend of lifting the curse on the Dark Forest would disappear completely. However, they didn’t expect they would have to go personally and pay such a high price to fight their enemy. When the priest fell, the cursed monsters reverted to their human forms and the Dark Forest was no longer covered by snow all year round, but the church’s blind greed still remains.”

Again, not much is said about the priest himself. The most interesting thing here is that he apparently is the keystone holding the curse together. Interesting, because he seems to be letting the witch do all the work for him. Usually in these stories, you have to kill the person who casts the spell to break the spell, not just their friend. Is it because he, himself, is a stone? That is to say, he turns into a statue sometimes.

Why the heck is he having her turn all his enemies into cartoon monsters instead of killing them, anyway? Don’t tell it’s to make the game family friendly, bc in one of these timelines a child kills another child.

Honestly, the priest/church just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. His big plan is selling everybody from his town as slaves. Gross. And the way he accomplishes this is by...making it snow all the time, and turning people into vampires and fire bears? What?

He is. A delight to fight. I’m being sarcastic. He’s a religious edgelord who likes to go on about how humans are sinners and everyone deserves to be punished. Also she cheats by turning into stone. Eh.

It feels like someone just spun a wheel for of evil traits and just stuck them together haphazardly. His evil plan is...human trafficking! His personality is...self righteous! His means is...tf! His super power is...turning into a statue!

He’s the biggest of bads but also not that thought out. He’s super important to the over-arching plot and yet I have no idea why this guy does what he does. I’m gonna give him 🗽🗽 two statues.

Mystery Men

idek why this person is called “Mystery Men”. I’m guessing it’s supposed to be mystery man? Or mysterious person or something? I know I haven’t talked about the art much but, I do appreciate how much their face looks like a dog snout and her hood looks like dog ears. It’s a neat touch.

This description was actually changed. The new text is longer and more awkwardly worded. I don’t like it! And I don’t get why it happened.

But, yeah. The very last enemy of the game- who you can only reach by playing through at least four times and defeating all three others- is your Grandmother! Le gasp!

So what exactly went wrong with her? Oh, nothing, she just has a big wolf growing out of her back(told you the concept was backed up by canon)

Is this her daemon or patronus or something? I have no idea. I’ve been calling her a werewolf sometimes, tho, bc she’s better at being a werewolf than the titular werewolf. Which is to say she can revive instead of just healing. Her buffs and deck change throughout the fight. She’s a long battle, fun, except for her ear piercing voice. She sounds a bit possessed.

I’ll give her 👁️👁️👁️ three big eyes. She’s a fun battle, but I always mute it. Also not real big on how the text got changed for the worse. But she does add some good details to the story.

In Conclusion...

Grandma’s text tells us a few things.

1. Not only is the Hope family connected to this prophecy, but family members actually have the power to control the curse. That leads me to believe that the person who got the curse started was a Hope themself.

2. The church came along long after the curse was in full swing. So the priest is not responsible for it. Whether he’s a Hope himself is not relevant.

We also know these things:

1. The witch is still the one casting all the tf spells, which is part of the curse.

2. There are two timelines were Red has a natural gift for magic

3. In the Little Witch timeline, the Witch is teaching Red magic. On top of that she’s v patient, which is surprising, for some reason.

4. The Witch seems a little out of touch with reality. She sends you to find apples, and then yells at you for stealing them. Almost like she thinks you’re another person.

5. The witch verbally expresses her desire not to fight you when she realizes who you are.

I have to conclude that the Witch is a Hope. A Hope who’s close enough to have a fondness for Little Red Riding Hood, and is invested in her well being/education. And yanno, is turns her enemies into pig people because she can.

She helps you on your quest by giving you one of her own. But earlier on, she takes on the form of the other witch offer you potions and the like. She even gives you the first one in each chapter for free.

“My potions can change your appearance!”

Of course she can’t get too close to you. She can’t reveal that she’s helping you. Hence putting on a new face when she’s a ‘good’ witch. One wonders if she’s trying to hide her identity from you, or the people she’s allied with.

Hey can we look at her description again?

Red doesn’t get addressed in the second person in any of the other descriptions. There is a character who talks about his life in the first person, and we’ll get to him. But this is odd to me.

What if Red isn’t being addressed here? What if it’s someone else? What if it’s the Witch?

What if the Witch was captured and ensnared in the priest’s plot? What if he messed with her memory? So then who is she? Red’s sister? It seems like she’s been working with the church a lot longer than Grandma’s been missing. Also Grandma went into the woods on her own accord. You could say that the grief the church caused her *made* her go out, but it seems weak.

So maybe a Hope in another generation, who lost her grandmother to- either the church or monsters? Was it this other Grandmother who *started* the curse?

Dude, what if she’s your Mom?

What if instead of killing her the priest did...something...scared her enough to get her to work for him. And messed with her memory so she couldn’t conceive a way out? And sort of had her transfer the power of the curse to him so that people had to kill him to break it?

What if he had the Church Doctor scoop her brain out and put it in another lady’s head? Who knows.

I’m not certain about the witch being your mom. I think I would like that to be the case because it’s fun, but I’m not quite convinced yet. I AM certain, tho, that the Witch is a Hope, and she cares about you. She’s not just this cackling meanie turning people into flowers. She’s...complicated. And she needs help just as much as all the trapped monsters.

Unexpected Dinner Date

Summary : alone at a restaurant because your boyfriend stood you up. unexpectedly your night took a turn for the better when a man showed up to save you.

Author Note : hope you like this, I don’t know if I should make this a series or not so let me know if you want more. I don’t really have much to say except for Taehyung saying sweetheart is my kink ok bye

“Miss? It has been an hour and we have other customers needing a table” the waitress says to you in a gentle voice. It’s the 5th time the waitress has visited your table. You look at the clock and sigh.

“Please I promise you, he is coming” you pled, you notice the other people surrounding you, they were sharing whispers and sympathetic looks. Your boyfriend was supposed to be at the restaurant an hour and a half ago but he still hasn’t shown up.

“Miss I cant-”

“Please just 20 minutes” you beg, the middle-aged waitress looks at you one final time and sighs feeling defeated by your persistence.

“Fine. 20 minutes" she warns and you express your gratitude. You try and call your boyfriend again, your stress heightens when you notice the stares from the people around you.

Answer machine, again…

“This is my 50th time leaving a dumb voicemail, I am at the restaurant that I planned for our anniversary and what do you do? You stand me up, again! get your ass over here in 20 minutes or else we are done. You better have a fucking extraordinary excuse for this one dickhead” you press cancel on the voicemail and groan to yourself. He always treated you like this and you were fed up with it.

You angrily take the last piece of bread roll that was situated on the table. You look around the restaurant and admire the artistry. You always had an admiration for art, that is one of the reasons you picked this 4-star restaurant. You were hurt you had to spend your 1 year anniversary alone in this gorgeous restaurant.

You continue to look at the clock, 20 minutes have finally past and he still hasn’t shown face. Embarrassment and shame are what you felt when the waitress arrived once again. You were defeated and you finally accepted the reality.

“Miss I need-”

“I know” you sigh, you see the sympathetic glare the waitress was sharing with you. You slowly got up from the chair getting ready to leave the restaurant that’s when something you didn’t expect happened.

“No no I’m here! I’m so sorry I was held back in work and then the traffic was bad.” a man rushed over and stopped the waitress who was escorting me out the building, ”here take this for the inconvenience I caused” the man dug in his pocket and pulled out a load of money and he passed it to the woman. The woman looked flustered by the man’s payment and so were you. Before you could even process what was happening you were dragged back to your seat by the man.

“It is okay sir, we will get you the menu” the waitress fumbled before walking off with the bundle of money she was just given. The man sat in the seat opposite you, you were about to say something before he cut you off.

“Hi my name Taehyung, just go with it okay? The guy who stood you up is a huge jerk and you deserve better than him” The man said to you. You weren’t prepared to sit opposite a man who was pretending to be your boyfriend but the curious side that was wondering how this would turn out convinced you to stay with him.

He was extremely attractive, he had perfect proportion. His hair was an ashy brown and his clothes looked very expensive and sophisticated. He was wearing a shirt with an interested patterned tie as well as high waisted trousers with a subtle pattern on them. You also noticed his Gucci shoes, this is when you realized he wasn’t some average guy.

“Why are you helping me?” You ask curiously but you are cut off when the waitress arrives with the menus.

“ah thank you very much, I appreciate you for this” Taehyung smiles to the older woman. She nods in return and hands us both our menu’s. Once she left you looked towards Taehyung for an explanation.

“Because a beautiful woman like you shouldn’t be treated unfairly especially from a jerk boyfriend I’m guessing?” He raised his eyebrow in question. You begin to feel a blush flow through your cheeks.

“Yes,” you said shameful, you cover your face with the menu pretending to read the options.

“If you are ashamed to say yes that is an indication you aren’t exactly proud to be with him,” he said shrugged.

“It’s not that… I’m just ashamed that I have been waiting two hours for a guy who stood me up on our anniversary” you admit, you heard a light chucked from him.

”it’s your anniversary and he stood you up? He should be the one ashamed” he laughs and you begin to giggle too. ”Why are you with him?”

”I guess I’m keeping hold of the past” you admit, you felt at ease being around Taehyung. He made you feel good about yourself and changed your perspective on the situation. Maybe your relationship wasn’t as healthy as you thought. “When did you notice I was in this dilemma?”

“I come here for a drink at the bar since I heard they sell nice drinks and that’s when I noticed you. This restaurant has beautiful decor and artwork but you were the most beautiful piece of art in here. I assumed you were taken so I didn’t want to bother you. I saw you were alone at a table for two for quite awhile. That’s when I overheard the waitress talking about the situation you were in. I felt an anger that someone would treat you like that, so I thought I would help” he explained, you were blushing a vibrant red. He has such a magical way with words that moved your heart.

“Well thank you,” you said showing your appreciation.

You continued to talk all night, he was really helping you through a shitty night. He didn’t share much about himself which made you more invested in him. You notice the amount of compliment he was passing to you, you have never received so much praise before and it was making you feel an overwhelming warmth in your heart.

He was very easy to talk to, and it felt like you knew each other for years. Even though he was a very classy man you also noticed his goofy side. He made you laugh and his smile was infectious. You kept attempting to make him laugh just so you could keep seeing his smile.

”So I’ve told you my work situation, can you tell me yours?” You finally found the courage to ask. The restaurant was empty, you were the only two remaining people left. You felt bad for the workers but you didn’t want this night to end.

”I think you need to earn that information” he winked and you groaned in response.

”That’s so unfair” you whine.

”You are cute” He smiled and you blushed which seemed liked the 193628471 time that night. ”I think we should leave, the waitress doesn’t look very pleased” he laughed as he nodded towards two waitresses who were giving you dirty looks.

”I agree” you nod with a giggle. Taehyung shouts over the waitress to ask for the bill which she happily gives him. ”I can pay, take it as a thank you” you smile.

He chuckled, ”Sweetheart, you have accompanied me on my night the best thing I can do for you pays for your meal” he smiled more seductively that before. Hearing him calling you sweetheart against his deep voice made you feel a certain way.

”Okay,” you said weakly and you look at your knees. He escorted you outside after he paid for both of your meals. He pulled over a taxi and opened the door for you to enter. ”Is this a goodbye?” you ask sadly. You didn’t want this experience to end.

”For now” he smirked, you didn’t exactly know what that meant.

”do you want my number or something?” you ask and he chuckles.

”I will find you don’t worry sweetheart” he winks again, he closes the door and told the man to take you home. You watched as you his figure faded away.

You already felt a dying desire to go back to him.

idk i try to keep things a-okay on here but i just really need to vent on like.

everything.

god fucking dammit don’t you just love working twice as hard as your superior only to make like, what, a few dollars an hour less? yeah, checking salary data online my assistant manager, the one that DID NOT impress the area manager or whatever the hell the boss of my boss is, is making like roughly 4$ more than me every hour to do half as good a job in.. anything. Did I fucking mention her boss saw me working with her and someone else and mentioned to the actual manager he was only impressed with me??? god she can’t even be bothered to refill coins or fucking count the safe properly but will spend all her time in the back and make everyone else take on a workload she should be taking on herself because we’re already short staffed here and still losing people but no she’s getting fucking paid more than me- who drives myself to panic attacks to try keep up with making sure things are actually moving along and that people get their food -to basically sit on her ass and become dead weight that ends with me leaving later than I should. Fuck she tells me I work too hard, move too fast, but bitch I bet it’s because you can’t get on my damn level you mid-life crisis piece of shit. You’re like. at least 40. You’ve been a teacher. Why can’t you do better than Panda Express Assistant Manager that you didn’t even actually earn from what I hear you just schmoozed to the manager at your last location and didn’t get actual training to be a manager of any sort.

I can’t figure out groceries, I don’t know how to cook nor do I have motivation to so whatever I do get ends up spoiling, so I’m wasting so much money of my already small paycheck (30-36 hours a week on 10.50$ an hour, pay every other week with roughly 15% of that taken for taxes) eating out and even then not giving myself any sort of proper nutrition. I don’t exercise enough either or keep up with showers and teeth brushing and laundry like a person should be so I’m fucking withering away in full out shrug emoji and getting fat and unhealthy and letting everything decay okay maybe im not that bad but I really don’t care.

I can’t afford to go back to college this semester because I’ve been paying rent to my parents (and that ridiculous 450$ a month is due to go up because they could be selling our house for more than they got it for but can’t because me and my older brother are still living here so COMPENSATION I GUESS) and paying for my car (repairs AND gas for a clunker old enough to drive itself and bare minimum insurance) and paying for food and maybe SOMETHING to live for and make me feel okay for just a moment that’s like. stupid cheap generally less than 10$ in terms of price and generally having trouble limiting myself to stricter budgeting so I can actually save up and GOD DAMN don’t get me started on how the college down the street is so fucking packed that I can’t really take any courses unless I signed up like, back in may and I still don’t even know WHY I’m going to college besides “has to” and I can’t bother to fill out FAFSA and like fuck anyone would give me a scholarship since I’m so firmly average and so many people need it more than me.

I still have to make at least 10 job applications or I’m getting 100$ added to my rent because I guess if I hate my job so much why aren’t I getting another when I have no college degree no marketable skills and have been stuck in fast food for two years and therefore have no experience in anything desireable and I don’t know myself enough to sell myself gee I wonder why I don’t have a better job dad :)))))) I can’t even really say im bright and cheery because that is fading and fading fast because of this damn job where I have no support and constant stress.

I have so much shit in my life i need to fix up. I’m turning 21 this year, I’m getting all these messages about how I should be moved out and on my own and going to college for something I’m so incredibly passionate about and living that wonderful youth life and maybe backpack across the country or whatever.

I have no passions. Art is a distraction and a hobby and no one likes it enough to buy it for dirt cheap anyways (that lunafreya piece came out to about 21$ in my commission pricing and took me like. probably 3 or 4 hours???? which translates to 7$/hour at best and 5.25$/hour at worst???????????) I can’t even write on my rp blog, the last little bastion of any of my love for writing and I don’t fucking care enough about grammar and all that to bother with going for an english major and I don’t have any stories long enough to merit writing and publishing and what’s finished is fucking stupid and not going to get a second glance.

You can also say I’ve completely lost sight of who Ventus is as a character and just keep writing fucking 2006-era Roxas.

We cant have two mental health crises in this family in one year and I most definitely cant ask for help i’ll look like an attention-seeking brat. that’s probably what I am I’m the second eldest out of five and a girl who didn’t have a mom figure I could approach for most of my life and don’t know how to approach my dad or step mother. no one will see i need help just that im looking for attention. fuck man that’s not even getting into how I’ve been in therapy before and in hindsight it feels fucking wasted whoo boy can’t wait to waste money again.

THE PERMANENT RAIN PRESS INTERVIEW WITH KID LUCIFER

The members of Kid Lucifer have been keeping busy since their move out east. Comprised of Henry Girard (vocals, guitar), Linus Heyes (lead guitar), Sam Schuette (bass) and Quinn Letendre (drums), the “garageadelic psych rock n' roll” band released their debut album Nothin’ But Bangers this past summer, and are no strangers to the Montreal live music scene. Their new singles “Serrated Knife / She Loves Me” just dropped earlier this month. All about positive vibes, good energy, and some pretty groovy music – Kid Lucifer is paving a name for themselves, albeit provinces away from their hometown of Vancouver.

You’re originally from Vancouver, but made the move out east and are now based in Montreal. Tell us about the reason behind this transition, and how it’s been for you out in QC.

Montreal has been amazing for us. It’s a beautiful city, and we’ve met so many amazing people who have helped us out and encouraged us along the way I couldn’t begin to name them all. The city offers so much talent and houses so many fantastic bands, it really forces us to work as hard as we can and to push the limits of our song writing and performance just to keep up. I think that aspect has made us better musically, and tighter as a group of band mates and friends. There’s always so much happening, so many exciting opportunities as an artist and inspiration is everywhere. Plus, everyone we know who visits us from Vancouver ends up wanting move here (and some have), so that probably tells you everything you need to know!

You have 2 new singles out, “She Loves Me” and “Serrated Knife.” They’re quite different in sound but the contrast behind garage rock/psychedelia is a good one. What inspired you lyrically, and in the tracks’ sound?

Our influences as a band range quite broadly, in particular we draw a lot of inspiration from the garage rock and psychedelic music of the 60s. We define ourselves as a “Garagedelic Psych Rock” band, finding equal influence and interest in both genres in the way we write our songs and approach live shows. We really want our sound and performances to be dynamic and interesting, keeping fans engaged and on their toes. These songs are a love letter to the music we love the most, and going into the next stage of the band with a new record and tour this Spring, we wanted to really showcase the spectrum of our sound, what we’re capable of, and what people can expect from us going forward.

She Loves Me / Serrated Knife by Kid Lucifer

You’re recording your sophomore record. What are the major differences listeners will hear between the forthcoming album, and your 2018 debut Nothin’ but Bangers? Did you approach the recording process differently?

This record is going to be entirely self-recorded, and we have a much more defined vision of what we want for these songs. We really took the time to develop the structure and dynamics of each song, drawing from past ideas and re-working them into not just a collection of tracks, but a coherent album where each song serves a specific purpose and works towards our unique style and vision. We are making sure to showcase every aspect of our sound with this record, with the tracks ranging in genre from up-tempo garage rock to psychedelia to surf rock and beyond. Our lead guitarist Linus and bassist Sam are also contributing songs they have written to the record, making this our most diverse release yet.

All of you are clearly passionate about music, and pursuing it full-time now. What are a couple of favourite memories/experiences that you’ve had together as a band? Have you ever had to work through difficult moments?

There have been so many highlights from this crazy journey so far. Writing and releasing our first record, then selling out our album launch show all less than a year after we moved was a pretty incredible and surreal experience. Getting to tour through Ontario was amazing, and opening for bands we love like Amyl and the Sniffers and Sugar Candy Mountain was unreal.

There are always hard moments, especially living together for over a year, but the key for us is great communication, and we’re always able to function and continue to work together and have an amazing time. I wouldn’t trade my band mates for the world. Despite all of this though, we’re really most excited for the future; we can’t wait for everyone to hear the songs we’ve been working on, and embarking on a five-week long US and Canadian tour this May is the most ambitious and exciting thing we’ve ever set out to do.

You have some wicked graphics for your single art, merch, and “Serrated Knife” video, etc. How are these visuals created? Do you collaborate with friends?

Henry Girard, our lead vocalist and primary songwriter handles all of our artwork for the records and merch. He has a very unique vision and sort of chaotic psychedelic aesthetic and is just an endlessly hard-working, creative guy. I think if he wasn’t expressing himself creatively in some form he might go crazy!

The “Serrated Knife” video is a collection of some footage I collected around BC right before we moved away. It’s a love letter to our roots on the west coast, and we love the idea of having our visuals capture the essence and vibe of the song without distracting from the most important part-the music itself. We took a similar approach with “Fourth of July” from our previous record, and we’re very happy with the result.

What’s your favourite venue to play at?

In Montreal we have had the opportunity to play at so many awesome venues. L’Escogriffe and Casa del Popolo are definitely big recommends. We were also fortunate enough to play the last show at the now closed Stylus Records when we came through Vancouver this December, and we’re really looking forward to playing at the newly opened Static Jupiter when we pass through this May.

Who are a couple of fellow Canadian acts that people should be keeping their ears open to?

We’re all big fans of the Vancouver-based punk band Sore Points; their new record is absolutely fantastic. We also got to play with Schwey when they came through Montreal, another great Vancouver group who is killing it right now. As far as the east coast goes, we really love The Fuzzy Undertones, Efy Hecks, who we just got a chance to play with, and Fade Awaays, definitely our favourite Toronto band who just released a killer EP we can’t stop listening to.

When you’re back out in Vancouver, what are some favourite places to eat/hang out at?

As I mentioned, Static Jupiter is an awesome new venue we got to check out this past December, and we’re very excited to play there while we’re on tour. Other than that, we always like to stop by and practice at Pandora’s Box Rehearsal studios, check out Red Cat and Zulu Records, hit up the Biltmore Cabaret or Red Gate Arts Society for a show, and you can’t go wrong with a late-night Duffin’s Donuts run on the way home after a late night out!

Hi, I've had insurance in CA for 2 years and moved to Oregon recently. I had my insurance tranferred with an useless Farmers Agent in OR. UGH! I'm a teenager, who drives a 2001 Honda Accord, right? I am not sure why this is causing my rates to go up because its not a moving violation and it carries no demerit points with DMV, its simply an equipment charge. The charge is vague and could mean anything really...from a taillight out, to a hanging exhaust, to a bent wheel, to even a headlight out. we were stuck, held captives in a room. i dont understand the situation, since there's no real danger, or maybe the thing just didnt show me any at this part of the dream. but we were scared. scared enough not to dare attempt anything. we never saw the outside since the windows were covered with heavy curtains, but it wasnt barred off or covered up with wood so it was basically just down to us not even wanting to touch the windows. i dont understand this dream since as obedient as we were of all these unspoken rules, we beat the shit out if the guy keeping us there. i want so badly to describe him but i cant picture anything human at this point. the last thing i remember about him was that he didnt do anything to harm us and he didnt seem physically threatening. i still cant see a person. idk what happened but we had a chance, and we managed to subdue him or maybe he was sleeping and i kinda feel like he was pretending to be helpless too. like hes just letting us try for the fuck of it to laugh at us. and we turn him into jelly. idk how. but if you reverse the process, he's back into his "harmful" form, which is a handful of beans----jellybelly candy lmao.

i shouldve written this down when i woke up earlier, this and the two other dreams (now fragments :c) but i woke up from a nightmare and i tried to deal with it like all the usual nightmares, try to forget it instantly. and i especially didnt want to touch this fucking recent one cause it had a similar theme as the last log, and its something to do with Glenn dying. and i still dont know how my dreams work whether or not they're just that, passing dreams, or fucking next level warnings, i dont even want to fucking figure that shit out. but its been mostly of him in his younger self too. idk if i should feel better for that.

the guy i heard him laughing but it wasnt clear, like it was just an echo in my head. and we already melted him down to liquid jelly, and i think we screwed up and missed a step or did it in a wrong time. and we were panicking cause we didnt know what else to do and sooner or later he would come back and idk its back to feeling vulnerable.

im in a different room, i could see the outside now. theres dust all over the furniture and some of them smelled musty and looked like they were rotting, so i thought i was in an abandoned building. by the look its surroundings, i guessed a factory. i was with someone else i didnt know who it was at first, it all happened so fast. theres been so much that happened before this and i know we were just escaping, so i thought it was somehow connected to the first dream.

i looked outside the window with broken glass shards stuck to it and i saw young glenn, with a bunch of other kids. they look like they were in 2nd grade elementary. they were in a building were the walls werent there---maybe it was unfinished, or it was in the middle of getting torn down. they were in one of those rooms without a wall, and the only thing keeping them from falling was this metal thing. it looks like a bug screen except the squares "holes" were as big as the volleyball net square spaces. so they were all pressing their faces against it. idk what they were trying to achieve but the kids were pushing outwards by slamming their bodies against the metal screen. i didnt like the way they did it with no expressions on their faces, as if they meant to get hurt. and glenn didnt seem like he wanted to do the same thing--they surrounded him, keeping him trapped in the very middle, the first to fall. and they did fall. i saw the screen bend and bend until whatever it was keeping it nailed on to the building gave in.

i dont know how i was able to see this as if i had a telescope aimed at them, but once they fell, it zoomed back out and i couldnt see what was going on. but i did know that they didnt hit the ground. SOMEHOW, the metal screen caught them all hanging in the air. but what terrified me is that they all stopped moving, and i swore i saw their skin changed to a darker purple.

next thing i know ive already crawled out another broken window, my clothes were torn and there was a wet feeling on the side of my stomach. the guy that was with me was already ahead, idk how he got out before me when i was through the window first. we were in the second floor of the building and there was this wall we had to climb down. on the top of it were these barbed wires, but they had a weird look to them. they were white, not shiny silver, and for some reason we knew they werent sharp but mere elastic plastic. he went through first, going under 2 layers of barb wires. and thats when i noticed his face, its GLENN but he was his current age now. i didnt think about it too much and just followed. i thought climbing through the wires would take longer so i just took a hoodie that i didnt even know i had. put it it on top of the wires and let my body sit on it and just fall down. the wires bended like rubber like i knew it would. and i was on the floor. its a busy street. i saw a couple of people in the distance and i was crying now. i couldnt even talk i kept yelling help me help me as best as i could with my sharp breaths. they were laughing and was caught off guard and they hesitated and i never really saw them get up to move. but i knew that they wouldve figured it out too late. i saw the building that the younger glenn and the kids were still hanging lifelessly. they were so far. so so so far and my knees were already tired. i felt my breathing slow down and i thought my heart stopped beating as well. i didnt know i was still saying help me repeatedly and i forced myself to wake up.

i dont remember falling back asleep cause i know i woke up hearing glenn laughing, probably playing fortnite but i know i wouldnt have dared to go back to sleep after that shit

im outside i didnt get the chance to look around and observe since i was busy. i think its a school function since everyone was wearing black uniforn and i wore a long pleated skirt with a button up shirt. theres an event going on, everyone else is outside and they're all crowded up where theres hardly any space to see where you're walking. i was in the very edge of that group, surrounded by a smaller seperate group of people. im sitting down and theres a small, low, square shaped table in front of me. the stool was pretty short too so everyone around me, towered over, blocking the sun light. i couldnt tell if i was selling, or just showcasing my stuff, but i had these clay art. i think they were also edible cause i remember thinking of them as cookies--but they looked like normal playdo consistency. they were neon colored and i remember them mostly being circle and rectangle shaped, size of playing cards, flat, but the designs were like tiny paintings. the first portion of the dream was pretty calm, i forgot what happened with the other dreams and i was even almost entirely happy. i saw familiar faces from school and people i havent talked to in a while, and we chatted like we were actually catching up with our irl lives through the dream.

after i while it was time to pack up. and i think i was either giving away the rest for free, or selling them for sale to finish up fast. but not even 5 minutes after i just finished saying that, theres already been a handful of people from the crowd who snatched them up and left without even awknowledging me. i got so mad that i ended up throwing a tantrum in ways that could only be possible in dreams, i was flipping cars that werent there and i think i even had a full tub of popcorn in my hand idk how tf it got there or why there were even any and i was just throwing the popcorn at peoples faces. i was cursing everyone forgot what i said by now lmaooo but i remember the feeling of my throat, punching out each and every one of those words. and i think it was along the lines of whats the point, like why did i even take the time to make those clayartcookies and then just left the rest on the table.

the end parts of the dream was me walking away crying-- couldnt even see shit in front of me so i found myself walking up the stairs (it was like a floor of a neighborhood streets and above is even more neighborhood streets?) and this one guy that was in the group saw everything and was trying to cheer me up. he kept on going on and on, and i dont know why he didnt give up. half of the dream was me listening to him try to re-motivate me or just to get a smile out of me. i got so guilty that he was putting up so much effort in the dream---it mustve only lasted a moment irl, but it felt like hours of him walking up the stairs with me. i just woke up cause that was the only i knew he would stop and be free lmao.

SWOT Analysis Questions

STRENGTHS

• What are your advantages?

I feel that my two main advantages are that I really really what I do and that I have done for most of my life.

If I didn’t really enjoy what I do then I wouldn’t do it. I have such a love for creating images and stories. I am constantly watching videos, reading articles, consuming content to learn and better myself and my abilities. I’ve always felt that if I didn’t have this flare for creativity then I may as well have pursued a more dependable, stable career plan than freelancing in the film industry. I find my mind always thinking about framing and lighting, I cant walk downt he street without seeing a nice shot or spot of light and I hate not having my camera on me. I’m hoping this passion for film making will put me in good stead as I enter this industry.

When I was young I would borrow my parents camera on holiday and I still remember how satisfying I found it to capture an image and be able to choose the frame and the way you show the world. This has always been something I have loved doing and as I went through school I started to turn my photography into film making and soon realised that it was one of favourite ways to spend my time outside of school. In college I knew I wanted to operate camera in films and knowing this from a relatively young age meant I managed to get a lot of practice young. This has helped me in my career as I find shots come naturally to me and I can see in my head how I want something to look as I hear story or see a subject.

• What do you do well?

I see myself as a friendly, positive and easy to get along with person and I always see the best in people. I can’t see myself put in a situation where I couldn’t understand/empathise with with the people I’m with and I feel like this helps me a lot, not just when it comes to getting along with crew and talent, but also in choosing how I want to shoot my subject. I find, the better I can understand the subject, the better I can film them.

I also think I can turn story to visuals in my head with relative easy. I don’t see my self as a genius at what I do as I know I’m far from it. There is so much I want learn technically and so much room to grow but I’m able to know how I want to shoot a scene relatively quickly and I’m good at communicating that visual and hopefully how to achieve it.

• Why did you decide to enter the field you will enter upon graduation?

For a while now I have thought that I wanted to become a Director Of Photography but after working on a number of set I realised that I really enjoy being part of a bigger team and that I want to learn my craft more before I try and put myself in the position of a DP. Although I know that I want to be able to express my ideas and my vision, I also think it is important that I spend more time on set continue learning my craft and watching others to build my personal skillset. Its for this reason that I aim to train as a Camera Assistant after university. It’ll get me into the camera department and hopefully give me a chance to learn even more about how to shape and develop an image.

• What have been your most notable achievements?

I think my most notable achievement in terms of outside recognition has been winning Best Cinematography at ScreenTest 2017. This was a very bizarre experience and I’m very grateful for that recognition.

In terms of an achievement thats personal to me I would have to say the way in which I have grown and developed my confidence during university is something I am very proud of myself for.

• To what do you attribute your success?

I would have to say that my self motivation and desire to be successful in film is what has allowed me to achieve what I have so far. I also think that being approachable and true to myself has played a bit part, especially when it comes to repeat business.

• How do you measure your success?

If the clients happy then I’m happy. I don’t mind so much if I’m not 100% happy with the final project if the client is over the moon with it. If its not client based then if I can show it to someone and my work generates a reaction, even if its not the reaction I expected, then I have created something that someone has invested in and has been influenced by.

Ultimately I am very critical of my own work so often at the time I may not be completely chuffed with my own work but I find that it I look back at my work and see improvement in what I’m doing then I’m heading in the right direction.

• What is your greatest asset?

Its hard to measure what is my signal greatest asset as I am professional and I believe that I know my craft relatively well but on a personal level I would have to say that my greatest asset is my ability to empathise and respond accordingly. I have become much more of a people person than I used to be and I’ve now come out of my shell a bit more which has helped me immeasurably.

WEAKNESSES

• What could be improved?

Time management. Time management is a constant battle. I can see improvements in my ability to keep an organised schedule but my tendency to say yes to everything has got me in trouble before. I try to never say no, especially to film work, as you never know where it could lead; however, sometimes I have to learn to be realistic about what I physically can or can’t do.

I also can and want to improve on my onset ability and my knowledge of camera and lighting. I feel like no matter what level I am at I will always need to improve on these things. If I ever stop wanting to improve these things then I wil have lost my passion for creating. I want to be the most efficient and on the ball AC that I can be and thats always something I am aiming to improve on.

• What do you do badly?

I’m pretty rubbish at sound recording. I have never really been given the opportunity to learn as I am known as being a camera man and during my time at university I haven’t really strayed far from my camera / lighting department roles due to my confidence of what role I want to play. Due to this I have’t really looked into understanding the sound recordists job and my only knowledge of sound is what we have been taught in class and what I have learnt on set, like timecode jamming and how to work with a sound man. On a couple of occasions I have boom operated, an example of this is when I helped out as a runner on Peanetentia (a graduated film in 2016) and they needed a tall boom operator for some of the wide shots. This is the extent of my sound experience and I’m sure that more experience would only help me when working as part of a large team by knowing what the sound guys needed before they ask for it.

I’m also not as good as I could be at self promotion, I have confidence in my own abilities but when it comes to selling myself and my abilities to others I’m still more modest than perhaps I should be. I know that the creative arts is full of big personalities and I need to make sure I don’t get lost in the field.

• What should you avoid?

I should avoid being too nice. I know that sounds like an odd thing to say but I sometimes need to be more assertive about when I should or shouldn’t ask for pay for certain jobs, as well as making sure my voice is heard on set if I have a suggestion.

• What are your professional weaknesses?

I feel on set I can sometimes play safe with lighting especially and I should try new things more. I’m starting to use more abstract colours and negative fill in my work to see what it is I really prefer. I guess it’s all about finding my style and that takes on set time and experience, both of which I am trying to get more of all the time.

OPPORTUNITIES

• Where are the promising prospects facing you?

During my time at university I’ve made some really good contacts with fellow freelances and some that are more established who may be able to find me work on smaller productions locally. I’ve also made contacts with some producers who are looking for camera man on documentaries which would be a great opportunity if that doesn't fall through. I’ve also been approached by one of my lecturers about potential shadowing work after university which would be fantastic so again, I’m hoping thats something that will help me make the contacts I need. I’m hoping that this extra time after studies will enable me to do more work than I’ve been able to during my studies as I’ve had to turn down a number of jobs due to not being able to commit to extra-curricular work.

• What is the "state of the art" in your particular area of expertise?

Some of the most recent technology that is helping advance the camera department is the gradual availability of bigger sensor cameras including the new Red Weapon 8k camera which will have a knock on effect on lower model cameras. Advancements in Virtual reality films have brought it more towards the mainstreams attention as well as drone and grip technology advancing and becoming more widely available.

Although these things are knew the stables of the film industry remain strong. Companies such as Arri, Ziess and Canon are continuing to produce top of the range, reliable cameras and lenses to most big budget productions.

• Are you doing everything you can to enhance your exposure to this area?

I have liked every page on Facebook and Instagram that I can find that relates to technology I’m interested in as well as forums and other film groups. I’d say that 70% of my news feeds on both social media outlets are film related and I’m constantly being updated with all the latest in the things I care about.

In terms of hands on experience with the newest kit I’ve been very lucky that on my graduate film shoot we got our hands on over 40 difference state of the art lights from Arri lamps, HMI’s, Source Fours, Kino Flo’s, Arri Skypanels and much more. We shot on the Arri Alexa XT which is a currently staple of most feature films and is an absolute work horse in the industry; as well as getting our hands on a full set of Ziess Ultra Primes which was a fantastic experience as these lenses are worth more than I can fathom and really are top of the range at the moment.

• Would an MSc/MA or another graduate degree add to your advantage?

I strong considered progressing onto a masters or film school for a while but after talking to people who have done both options and thinking about what I want to do I’ve decided I want to behind working as soon as possible as I think that will help my career more than an MA would.

• How quickly are you likely to advance in your chosen career?

I am aware that it will likely take a long time to work my way up from a 2nd AC up trough 1st AC and then finally onto a DP but thats normal and thats actually what I want to do. I want to spend adequate time in each role to give me time to be the best possible in each role so by the end of it I know everything about how the camera department works and that’ll help me if I progress to being a DP.

• What obstacles do you face?

Getting into the camera department is a very competitive job and I know its a job that many people aspire to do so I’m fully aware that I will need to be working at the best of my ability to ensure making good connections with colleagues and to get repeat business. I also want my social media to reflect my dedication to the industry and my cv to show be strong enough to stand out of the competition.

• Are the requirements for your desired job field changing?

The basic requirements for an AC remain much the same as to how it’s been for years but now, in addition to all the usual jobs of an AC, you must also being able to help in the DIT process as it may be required of you to stay on top of this area as more and more data is being used in the digital age of film.

• Does changing technology threaten your prospective position?

Changing technology is something that has to be embraced by the camera department and, due to the nature of the creative nature of the department, it would be hard to see technology as a threat to any position in the department. No matter how good cameras get, there will always be a need for operators, assistants and DP’s.
