Some of you will see a character that is actively repulsed by romance/sex and heavily non-partner coded (sometimes they even actively just say that they do not want a relationship!) and y'all will still respond with "But aros/aces can still date and have sex!!" like okay bud it'd be so much easier for you to say you don't respect repulsed and non-partnering aros and aces. stop beating around the bush trying to pretend to be oh so supportive when you obviously feel uncomfortable about our existence even in fiction.

The Many Languages of Dick Grayson

Apparently, according to Nightwing #54, he can speak 12, so I went on a little quest to see just how many I could identify.

Starting off with The Essential Batman Encyclopedia, the entry for Dick Grayson lists him as being trained in French, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Mandarin, and Cantonese with having some proficiency in an unknown Romani dialect. Given there are multiple examples of him speaking these languages throughout the comics, I am inclined to trust this claim. To start, we've got several examples of French (Gotham Knights #14, Detective Comics Annual #12, Nightwing #73, Grayson #10-- also featuring Spanish)

In Grayson #1 he speaks Russian only briefly, but in Detective Comics #36 he speaks it throughout.

As far as the Chinese languages go, while I believe Dick can speak Mandarin and/or Cantonese fairly well (Batman/Superman World's Finest #3), his Hanzi recognition and literacy could use some work.

Similarly, when the Titans head off to Japan in Titans Annual #1, we have Nightwing speaking Japanese in battle; however, when it comes to the prospective job of being a manga translator in Nightwing #125, he claims he doesn't know Japanese, which leads me to believe he is only proficient in speaking Japanese/Chinese and struggles with the writing systems.

So what about the languages not covered in the encyclopedia? To start, we have another romance language: Italian (Nightwing #72).

Followed by some alleged German (Nightwing #51, JLA #44)

And conversations in Farsi (Robin #175)

While I've seen some Tumblr and Reddit posts claim he knows Kikuyu, The Power Company: Manhunter #1 only says he "brushed up" on his Kikuyu before going to Kenya, so it is unknown how much of the language he actually speaks, but to me it doesn't seem likely to be a lot.

He also, to some unknown degree, speaks Tamaranean-- at least enough to hack into an alien computer (Action Comics #842).

As far as unspoken languages go, Dick is fluent in ASL, which is proven numerous times when he communicates with Jericho (New Teen Titans 1984).

And lastly, the two languages that remain rather uncertain are Romani and Cant-- largely due to the nature of the languages themselves and their representation in comics. "Romani," for instance, has several different dialects, and when Devin Grayson introduced it for Dick (Gotham Knights #20-21, Nightwing #91), she never specified which, and based on the lines she wrote, her research into the language was questionable at best. Writers since have recognized Dick's Romani heritage, but have not otherwise suggested he retained much of the language to be considered fluent.

Cant is an even wider term than Romani and can be seen as more of jargon for a particular language than a language itself, sometimes even being called a "pseudo-language." The colloquial term for American circus cant is Carny, or "Carny speak" as Boston Brand puts it in Batman: The Brave and the Bold #14 when he and Nightwing encounter a kid who speaks it.

So... this leaves us with 11 languages Dick has notable proficiency in: English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Farsi, and ASL. And ~3 languages he has unknown proficiency in: Tamaranean, Kikuyu, Romani, and Carny/Cant (if you want to count it).

Maybe memory-loss Dick was including either Tamaranean or Kikuyu in that count from Nightwing #54, or maybe he knows some other language we haven't seen yet. Given how close the family is to the Al Ghuls, I personally think it would be cool if one of them was Arabic.

But anyway, hope you enjoyed this post! A lot I've seen covering this topic are very surface-level and label some of his more iffy languages as "fluent," so I hope this cleared things up. I've read tons of Nightwing, and I swear there are more examples, but sifting through the 1,000+ comics I've read of him is a lot haha. If y'all know of some others, let me know!

You snap your head up, startled at the noise. It's George, in the doorway. You'd not heard him come in, too busy navel-gazing, feeling sorry for yourself. God, you're pathetic.

"Hm", you question, trying not to let on that you're utterly miserable.

"There's next week," he repeats, inching into the room and closing the door gently behind him, "You'll do it again next week."

Your mouth twists involuntarily, skeptical. Even though you know it wasn't you. It was the car, it was some silly mistake from the warehouse. You couldn't have done anything. It just inexplicably feels like the world is crumbling in on you and you can't figure out why.

"You think?"

George nods, expression serious, a little harrowed. But sympathetic, like he understands, like he knows how it feels. You're inclined to believe that he does, he'd not given you a reason to think otherwise in the six odd months you've known him.

"Pretty sure," he says in such a way that you're sure he means 'unequivocally yes', like he believes in you wholeheartedly, like he'd never doubt you.

You're not sure what you've done to deserve that from him. This unwavering loyalty to you that he seems to have already. You just know you feel it too. Inexplicably.

You watch him, long-limbed and slightly out of place, shifting from foot to foot under your stare. He makes a move to leave after a long minute, giving you a cursory nod— you feel something open up in your chest at the thought of him leaving right. Some pit of yearning, some ache that you cant quite place.

"Wait," you say, feeling brave.

His hand falls from the door knob, he turns, tilting his head at you in question. His eyebrows furrowed.

"Would you stay? For a bit?"

He's nodding before you've got the words out, crossing the room to sit next to you on the couch. Not too close, but enough that you can feel the body heat radiating off him, smell him, a little sweaty from being out on the pit-lane, but mostly the smell of his cologne.

"Yeah," he says gently, "Of course, I can."

You nod in thanks, feeling a little exposed, a little vulnerable from your shame, from begging for a friend in him.

"Thank you, George. I just—" don't have anyone else, you don't say, feeling like that might be too far. Instead you let you sentence taper off and sigh, letting some tension leech out of you, "Yeah."

George moves closer, fractionally. Feeling brave again, you lean your head onto his shoulder, hoping he doesn't mind too much. You decide he doesn't when his arm comes around so he can rub little comforting circles into the top of your shoulder.

Slowly but surely, you feel all the anger and the sadness make way for some warm fuzzy feeling in your stomach. From then on, George becomes a regular fixture in your driver's room, especially post-race, especially when you feel like your heart has been stomped on. It's hard to feel like shit when George acts like you're capable of anything.

another swap au design whooo i still cant draw sir Pentious and I ain't letting that stop me

This swap was decided by y'all in this poll and I'm gonna be honest when I put it as an option I had no idea how I was gonna make it work and honestly I still only have like half an idea but that ain't stopping me. In my role swap au I usually try to keep their backstories and personalities as similar to canon as possible while tweaking just enough to make their new role in the store make sense for these two I found that that approach just wasn't feasible. So in this Au Sir Pentious was created as an angel and has lived his entire life in heaven he still has some minor trust issues mostly because even before the heavens meeting where he learns about the extermination he notices some things not adding up but questioning heaven is not something he would do as such those questions and suspicions are left festering under the surface which might lead to his fall in the future :) I leaned a lot more into the "flaming snake" depiction of a seraphim along with giving him wings becouse the boy deserves wings. Emily on the other hand is a regular sinner dieing in the late 19th century like sir Pentious and being an inventor like him. Like her canon counterpart I think Emily is still good natured and goofy getting sent to hell because while she genuinely wanted to help people her ignorance and naivety led to a lot of her inventions hurting and even killing people. She wants to become a strong overlord so she can transform the place for her idea of the better not noticing how her methods are hurting people and further cementing her place down there. Her redemption would be mostly about her connecting with the residents of the hotel learning their stories and realising how wrong her perception of hell and the greater good was. She would also play into Vaggies ark of learning to open up and trust others along with learning to actually help the citizens of help become better people instead of forcing them into strict moulds she believes to be the best for them due to her preception of hell as former angel. I actually had a lot of fun with Emily's design and while i'm still not feeling so great (why I didn't sketch out any scenes with these two goofballs I will do so when I have the energy) I'm doing a lot better and will probably be back soon. I have also been thinking about turning my swap au into a comic what do y'all think?

tbh i cant showcase much of Pruyo due to her existence in the TBD is heavily influenced by Energy Drink's story (who i sadly havent made a sprite of their TBD uniform to match my headcanon).

tldr, the timeline En was in gor corrupted and they fell into a time pocket, they got saved by the TBD and even cured their carrying virus of the Jellywalkers thanks to the time manipulator. (yes, Pruyo was the one who did it with a couple of trusted supervisors)

MLM, Seth x male reader/character. Over general; Friends, Partners (Human, Shifter, and Vampire), when his imprint occurs, showing you he's a Shifter (If you/character are human)

Friends

Definitely a bubbly, happy boy/man when y'all meet whether it's in town, on the Res, or in the woods.

A lot friendlier to you before Leah, eventually she'll just accept that you're around her little brother.

Always taking you on adventures. Whether that's cliff jumping, hiking, or just hanging out with you.

If you lived on the Res, he'd definitely help you with homework, studying, have lunch with you, and showing you around (The pack would tease him for being a lovesick puppy before he even knew he had feelings for you)

Weekends were filled with movie nights, beach hangouts, bonfires. Even if you were a vamp, the pack would slowly welcome you since Sethy boy was infatuated (even if he refused to admit it)

His Imprint on you

The day it finally happens, its probably during a hike or a bonfire.

He totally has no clue what to do about it, and the pack doesn't help with the teasing.

He was around you even more afterwards unless he had pack business to do.

Poor boy got awkward a lot, especially if you two were at the Res, cause his thoughts weren't allowed privacy since the others could hear it.

Wasn't the type to get jealous, but protective? You can hang it up if you were being reckless, vamp, human, or another shifter

If you were a Shifter, he'd be blocking you out so damn hard so you didn't get a hint of his feelings.

I see Seth being a person with the love languages of physical touch and doing things for you.

He'd love to spoil you (mostly in small gifts he made or things he'd find in the woods he knows you'd like)

Already wants to be your husband, he doesn't care if its new

Loves coming home to you, being the man you want or need

Such a huge green flag of a partner

If you're a vamp, he'd just have to adjust to you not sleeping or eating, but would keep an eye on your blood stash to make sure you weren't getting low on animal blood

If human or Shifter, he'd enjoy watching you cook and probably would love any and everything you made.

Pack already believes y'all are married, doesn't matter if there's rings or not

Leah is more welcoming since there's not much she could do about an imprint, so she learns to trust, even a little.

hi y'all,

honestly i haven't been posting because im so caught up in studying for the back to back mocks, i have 2 in a week, yesterdays mock i scored so less, way less than my expectation , and way less than what i worked for, i had 3 days and trust me despite putting my everything and feeling confident i got nothing ( the fruit of hardwork) despite having such bad period cramps and wanting to rest i went to extreme 12 hours of study, and its disappointing that it did not pay back atleast in the form of a good score but rather a very low score.

i cried yesterday after coming home, if people are able to score 500-600 above why am i not,honeslty the thought of suici*e came to my mind too, but im not a loser, i cant give up after wasting so much of my dads money and putting in sm effort, then had to restart studying for the next mock, it aint full syllabus, its just some chapters compiled, im going to focus more on question practice.

i want to reach out to this ex bestfriend of mine whom i hold as close in my heart and as my elder sis, but idk if she feels the same and the last convo we had she clearly didn't want me in her life, but i feel mixed reaction from her recently when we spoke through an anonymous platform. but reaching out to her can make someone close to me upset and angry with me. i think im just on my period mood swings and feeling lonely , having no one to believe in me and motivate and love me.

my senior advised that they purposely make such hard papers , neet is easier than this, if you're able to solve pyqs and past papers then you're good. also i saw a video where a girl was in the top 20 the whole year and she got 603 or less in real neet cus she stopped focusing on ncert and went to jee adv level q for neet, and a girl who used to get 400s went to 700 in real neet by focusing on ncert so anything can happen, a miracle or a bad thing too , so dont stop believing in god and yourself.

A year ago today I released the first episode of Tales From the Fringes of Reality. It was one of the scariest and most exciting things I've ever done in my life and it turned out better than I could've hoped. This show started in my dorm room in the middle of the pandemic and it grew and changed with me. It's the first piece of work I've ever published with the name I *chose* on it. I got my name from writing this show, stealing it from my main character and taking it for myself. I've poured all of myself into this show and love it so much

Then this year I was able to invite more people into this world I've built and ended up with the most wonderful cast I could've dreamed of. I couldn't imagine a better group of people to bring this story I wrote to life and im so grateful for them. To my phenomenal cast: thank you thank you thank you. Thank you for gifting my writing with your voices and for taking such great care of these characters I've created. I truly couldn't have done this without you and cannot wait to share what you've done with everyone

I also need to shout out Tay and Tot specifically for trusting me with their voices and letting me pack bond with them and drag them into even more podcasts. I cant believe how lucky I am to know yall and to get to be your friends over the course of this show <3

Fontaine Archon Quest Act 1 + 2 Spoilers beneath the cut!!! 👾 anon and 🎺 anon i responded to you here :) (Also lots of talking about Arlie because I LOVE HER)

I've also gone through Lyney and Lynette's character stories/voice lines regarding Arlecchino (and a rough translation of Freminet's) and I completely agree! To be completely honest she seems more nicer than I thought she'd be. Of course, she's still strict and evil but she still has standards and seems to care for the siblings to some extent. One of the lines I found most interesting was "Perhaps the most amazing aspect of Lyney's Founding Day magic show was its ability to have even "Father" lay down her heavy burden and enjoy a brief moment of familial love." I didn't expect her to have such a close connection with the siblings. Plus, when she denied giving Lyney a Delusion and also allowed Lynette to keep a box of cats? Loved that. She can be cruel and mean but she does have some sort of heart left. Not to mention Arlie's confirmed to be from Fontaine. I hope we learn her real name soon! Totally with you there with her being soft only for reader ❤️ She has the ability to be kind but expresses it in perhaps an unconventional way. Even when she's being soft she doesn't know exactly how to act. Really looking forward to her in-game appearance!!

FR I LOVE THE SIBLINGS SOOO MUCH 😭💖💖 (Freminet was robbed of screentime though) AND YES ARLECCHINO I LOVE HER 😭 Ugh I can totally imagine that <3 Arlie shows her kindness in a stern and strict way but you're the complete opposite. You can't fathom being cold to these little cuties! You're the affectionate one and while Arlie does scold you a bit about spoiling them too much she can't get too mad because at least you can handle all the mushy stuff which she cannot do very well. I'm now brainrotting about the kids seeing you and Arlie argue and becoming scared for your relationship and trying to get the two of you to reconcile 😭 I'm literally bouncing in excitement for 4.1 i want to see her so bad!!

Moving on to me just talking about the quests. Did anyone else feel a bit upset at Traveler for how they treated Lyney and Lynette at the end?? I did considering everything the twins went through. I understand the Traveler not trusting the Fatui but they were literally holding onto Childe's Vision in that moment?😭 Besides that little piece, these two Archon quests were really solid and lots of fun. Was also surprised how many serious topics were put into it too. Usually they leave the dark stuff for side/world quests.

Navia. Definitely an amazing character i loved her in the quests. Really beautiful, great personality, and i love her two bodyguards. Her voice while yelling at Neuvillette was really raw 🥺 Also loving Furina a lot. I didn't expect her to be insecure of herself. Seems like her confidence is just a facade for her people's sake. Y'all already know how I feel about Neuvillette haha i didn't expect him to be so emotional but I'm loving him so much! (I love everyone lemme just stop repeating myself 😭)

But damn being dissolved into water is so grim 😭 Imagine just being Fontanian and all of a sudden you learn you could simply dissolve and no one would ever know. I'd literally be so scared that i could die at any time 😭

EDIT: I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT CHILDE IM SO DONE. IM SO SORRY CHILDE LOVERS I GOT TOO SWEPT BY ARLIE. Anyway. Childe was so freaking cute. He is the kind of guy who would tell you every little detail no matter how minuscule it is about his siblings. Teucer told him about something that happened to him? Okay now you're getting the same story but more drawn about and longer because Childe can't help babbling about his family.

I know people are clowning on Childe for getting beat by Neuvillette but give my man some credit 😭 He managed to scratch A DRAGON THATS IMPRESSIVE OKAY.

he has a darkness but it is not a source it is a shield

and we already know he seems to have a fucked up way of dealing with things that upset him lmao so this could very well check out

would him just being a sadist make me hate him as a character? no. i'd still love him as a villain (him being a sadist would cause me to view him in a villain or anti-hero light) -- cuz he's such a great character

but i WANT to love him as a protagonist. a hero (even if "teetering" on anti-hero) and ultimately when it comes down to it at the very end --- as an ally

if he's genuinely a sadist then i cant and wont trust him and thus would not consider him an ally and by extension would see him as a villain (even if not the traveler's direct antagonist)

some people will disagree with me cuz some people eat that part of him up - they want/like him being a villain or anti-hero and that's fine of course i low key get it

but i am a firm believer in the "kaeya is biding his time to see how things unfold but he does love mondstadt he does love diluc and he would never turn on them even for his khaenriahn heritage" theory sooooo

yeah this is my headcanon now and i might even need to write an angsty as fuck fic about it

(but rest assured i never write angst without a happy ending and fluff tho --- i am reading/writing fanfic to make me happy and not miserable lmao if i wanted to wallow in my depression i would read/write poetry instead and i do that still but yeah different outlets for different things)
