It's actually insane how much Ninjago can get away with tormenting dragons because they're not humanoid and people don't think about their pain as much. The OG 4 became Ultra and then got killed and eaten. Other dragons were also victims of the Hunters. Zanth was tortured and experimented on for years. Heatwave got kidnapped and has watched several of his tribe members die of a terminal disease, an illness that Egalt also has and is apparently very painful. Riyu watched his tribe mother die violently in front of him. Multiple other Arch Dragons were murdered off screen. If this shit was happening to humanoid characters there'd be hundreds of fics and fanart about it. We talk a lot about how characters don't really die permanently in Ninjago but this isn't a rule that's ever applied to the dragons and that makes me crazy.

I feel like I should say since there's been a recent uptick in a lot of communities I'm in/see stuff from a lot of white people pretending to be Asian, but you are not welcome here if you are in anyway stealing from Asian cultures for clout or the aesthetics of it

This includes if you're white and you give your self inserts Asian names, I truly do not care if your f/o is from an anime, you should not be using an Asian name under any circumstances. I hate that whenever I see someone using an Asian name online, I feel like I have to start searching their account to see if they're actually Asian or just a white person who likes the aesthetic of it bcs far too many white people will use Asian names here just bcs it sounds cool, with no regard for the actual cultural meaning behind it. Meanwhile actual Asian people will be mocked for their names, or treated like their names are too hard to learn to pronounce, or discriminated against based on their names

Asian cultures are not a fun little costume for people to dress up with. They aren't just a nice aesthetic, they aren't just a thing you can borrow from bcs you think it sounds cool

I also started watching Dandadan when the first episodes came out, but I'm so sick and tired of works using rape and sexual assault as a lazy way to show that the "bad guys are bad", while also conveniently undressing the female protagonist for fanservice, that the first episode left a sour taste in my mouth. It gets worse when the community response downplays it and ridicules anyone who finds it uncomfortable, completely devoid of any compassion or understanding why someone wouldn't want to see it.

It's a shame because I loved the animation and I've heard that there aren't more scenes like that, and apparently some of the later episodes have been amazing. I'll take it on as my next project, now that I'm one episode away from catching up with Orb, but I'm not too happy about it lol
