Unfortunately, both of my wrists are injured, fractured. I have other injuries as well, but those are the ones that make me struggle with work the most.

I have been beaten twice in a short amount of time due to having a relative that is unfortunately addicted to substances. (I am sorry, I couldn’t word it in a better way.) I am a small person, I cannot defend myself well, especially not against someone twice my size. Because of the injuries this caused my bills keep piling up, so is the treatment I need. It’s nothing serious, but to me 1200£ is a lot of money that I am struggling to make.

But like millions of Americans, she received the hurtful news that her health insurance claim had been denied.

When Lakeland Police contacted Boston at her home, she admitted to using the “Delay, Deny, Depose” phrase and added, “healthcare companies played games and deserved karma from the world because they are evil.” She went on to say that she used the phrase, “because it’s what is in the news right now.” Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor responded that, “[Boston has] been in this world long enough that she certainly should know better that you can’t make threats like that in the current environment that we live in and think that we’re not going to follow up and put you in jail.” But what actual threat did Boston make, especially when compared to the violence corporations actually and knowingly impose upon the American people? As an attorney who represents women who are survivors of domestic violence, I cannot count how many times a survivor sought a restraining order against an abusive partner, and could not attain it because despite past abuse, and despite the new threat to “bash your face in” was too vague and unclear. What makes Blue Cross and Blue Shield so special that they deny a woman’s healthcare claim and then get her arrested for terrorism because she peacefully and verbally expressed frustration?

Likewise, as a human rights lawyer who has also literally survived violent death threats made against me and even testified in federal court against the man who threatened to kill me, I have to ask—what about her statement is a threat? The phrase “Delay, Deny, Depose” is a common insurance statement, used for decades as official policy to actively prevent having to make payouts. And the results of this policy are not hypothetical, they have been punitive, deadly, and are ongoing.

[...] Class warfare against working people is when billion dollar insurance corporations can live by “Delay, Deny, Depose” for decades—even as their policies actually and knowingly enable tens of thousands of annual deaths—but when a working person denied healthcare merely says that exact phrase—it’s terrorism. regarding your post about people feeling uncomfortable with reading certain topics i think its quite the opposite of them not realizing its not a material reality. it actually feels too close to home, a bit too real (considering we hear and read about cases every day) and you are aware that it happen to you everyday so it makes you feel uncomfortable to think about. on the other hand topics like murder, war crimes, etc. most people are alienated from them feeling safe that it wont happen to them (now thats a thing that happens only in stories) and reading about doesn't spark the same type of panic.

I am not claiming to be the most educated in the world on this topic, I am always open to learning more/accepting criticism for what I take as truth/have heard and grow from that, I am always accepting of criticism about misinformation/outdated information. However, it is astounding how much/what I have learned from only visiting some websites/watching some videos. I will link some here, but it is important that you do your own research and fact check/look into more sources you find. Please look into this if you have free time. The least we can do is stay up to date with what's happening.

I urge you to speak up about Palestine, I urge you to please keep posting about Palestine, say the names of victims, repeat the atrocities for the world to see, the more we share, the more people we reach and the more people might want to take action. You can post on any social media website, Pinterest, Tiktok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, make a google doc, Tumblr, literally anywhere you can post.

Please also, (if its safe to of course) get involved irl, keep going to protests/rallies, put up posters around your community, talk to your friends about it, talk about it at school, whatever it is PLEASE DO NOT FALL SILENT. The more we ignore Gaza, the more blood is on our hands.

Some things people need to understand

1: the 3D printed fidget toy I have, DON’T TOUCH IT. Please. If it’s out of my pocket and on the table, don’t touch it please. It gives my anxiety and I don’t like my things being touched.

2: when I say I don’t wanna be interacted with, accept that, move on, and if you have anything you want to say, write it down and wait for me to want to be interacted with.

3: when I say I’m in pain, I’m in enough goddamn pain to come to you about it. I normally downplay my injuries and pain and if I say I’m in pain, that means it hurts enough to come to you. Don’t brush it off please.

4: when I have concerns, DON’T FUCKING BRUSH THEM OFF.

5: don’t brush off my pain. I’m in pain every single day and sometimes it hurts to even move slightly.

6: I’m not slow. If I say “huh” for the third time, please repeat yourself and louder. I’m trying my best.

7: I literally cannot breathe. It hurts to breathe. I can’t walk up even two steps without being out of breath. I’m so exhausted after doing something simple.

8: respect my boundaries. I’m not someone who can tell off people really well. I’m a shy kid with social anxiety. So I get uncomfortable easily, especially if you get in my face.

9: if I’m relapsing in any type of way (suicide, sh) it’s better to just let it run its course and take care of me once it’s over.

10: I don’t feel human emotions. So stop spouting bullshit about “you’re a human. You’re supposed to have emotions. You’re not an animal.” Bitch, I don’t understand social cues, body language, and many other things, like emotions. It’s been that way since I was 4

11: I have comfort foods. Trying to make me “eat outside the box” makes me only more uncomfortable at eating new foods.

12: respect my damn pronouns and sexualitities. If I say I’m plushgender but also transgender and nonbinary, I mean it. No “you’re a girl” or “you can only have one gender” type shit. If I say my pronouns are fae/pluff or she/it for the day, respect them for hell’s sake.

13: I don’t like all those Christian ads and those Christians who are trying to make everyone their religion: I’m atheist/agnostic/pagan (please respect these and don’t say that there can only be one) and having those pushed on me only triggers me. My mom shoved Christian and Catholic shit down my throat to the point where even church is a trigger. She made me go to these Sunday school, except it was Monday from 8-11 at night. Technically 8-10, but she wouldn’t arrive till about 10:30 to 11:00 and all the activities she made me do made my sleep schedule shit.

14: I am a goddessdamn minor and can’t donate or commission anything. The age on my intro post is not my real age, it’s my OC’s age. So stop sending those asks, they make me spiral to the point I haven’t checked my inbox in like 6 weeks (if you sent an actual ask, sorry I haven’t gotten back to you, I’ve got testing)

You cannot claim you want books to be more accessible to people and then get mad about the Internet Archive accepting book donations that people have fully bought and paid for and lending those donated books out to people completely for free with no hoops to jump through.

I don't know who needs to hear this but not everyone has access to public libraries.

Assuming you even have a library in your town, not everyone can physically get to them! The poorer and more disabled you are, the less likely you are to even own a car, let alone be able to drive it!

And in most US cities, walking from point A to B is either literally physically impossible or illegal, or so literally life-threateningly dangerous that you're better off not risking it!

And assuming you can get to the library -- guess what! There's no guarentee you can actually get a library card! Yes, despite how everyone always sings endless praises, libraries aren't perfect, and there are still very real obstacles between some of the most vulnerable people and being able to borrow from a library!

In many places, you can't get a library card unless you have a driver's liscence / state ID. And in some places, even that alone isn't enough -- you also have to provide proof that you live in the city!

Which means homeless people who've had their IDs literally stolen by the cops, who don't have a mailing address they can use as proof they live in the same city as the library can't get a library card unless they can somehow get to the DMV and miraculously have the money pay for a new ID. Which they can't do without other forms of ID. Which the cops probably also literally stole.

Even if you're not homeless, if someone steals your wallet, and you can't drive, you can't get a library card either now, because you have no ID, and no way to get a new one!

The Internet Archive's lending library is actually free and accessible to everyone who can connect to the internet, with no hoops to jump through. You just have to make an account and you can start reading.

Stop claiming you want people to be able to read books if you don't actually want the most vulnerable people to actually be able to read books. Which have already been paid for and helped the authors.

If you don't even understand the bare minimum basics of how the Internet Archive's lending library works, maybe don't go around proclaiming yourself the expert. And if you literally do not live in the USA, don't go around claiming our libraries are freely accessible to everyone when they're literally not!

The Internet Archive does not hurt authors. It does not hurt publishers. If you understand how it's perfectly fucking fine to buy a book and then lend it to your friends so they can all read it, you understand why the Internet Archive literally accepting fully paid for donations of books which they archive for all of humanity completely for free is also literally fine.

And if you pretend there's actually some evil difference between the two, you just need to admit you've swallowed the capitalist propaganda that publishing companies, who want to turn books into the next streaming service where you never actually own anything even when you buy it, and you're spreading blatant capitalist propaganda that actual authors hate.

It is literally a fact that if people can borrow a book from a library to read it for free, they are more likely to buy it and the rest of the series than they would if they never got the chance to read it without first forking over hard earned money that could be going towards groceries, for a book it might turn out they absolutely hate every second of.

You cannot claim to support libraries and support making books accessible to everyone and then shit on the Internet Archive. Unless you're also going to claim that lending books out to friends or Little Libraries are also immoral.

Literally I have so many thoughts about Avox!Coriolanus, I have a fic outline but i'm gonna treat you to some headcanons, i'm Not Okay about this

Setting:

(In this au, Gaul is even more psychopathic than she is in the book - she cares so deeply about the perpetual state of war, and a twisted fairness in the games, that she perceives Coriolanus' actions as unforgiveable, and effectively discards him. She can always find another star pupil to take under her wing)

Coriolanus is accused of being a traitor to the Capitol due to his aiding of Lucy Gray in the games. To preserve the sanctity of the games, Lucy Gray is pardoned, as she has been 'manipulated' by Snow's evil rebel tendencies. In reality, she takes a deal to return to District Twelve by throwing Coriolanus under the bus.

The footage of Coriolanus attempting to rescue Sejanus from the arena is heavily edited to make it appear as though Coriolanus snuck into the arena and killed Bobbin to give Lucy Gray an unfair advantage.

Sejanus' role in the arena break-in is forgiven due to Strabo making a sizeable donation to the games.

The Snow family reputation is irrevocably destroyed - thankfully, the Capitol public holds great pity for Tigris and the Grandma'am, as they appear to be such fragile and pathetic creatures.

Plot Points In My Brain That Will Not Leave Me Alone

Coriolanus is utterly broken by the whole situation. Even when he was almost destitute, he could rely on his wit, charisma, manipulations and lies to get him out of trouble. That has all been stripped away. His own selfishness and hunger has ruined everything

Mr and Mrs Plinth are offered Coriolanus by Dr Gaul, and they agree to take him, albeit for different reasons; Strabo, to teach Sejanus the lesson he still hasn't learned about the Capitol, and Mrs Plinth, to try and give Coriolanus an easier life than he would experience elsewhere. They keep this acquisition to themselves.

Coriolanus stays in a room at the end of the servants quarters. In the first week, he doesn't come out of his tiny box room. Sejanus visits him on that first night, but Coriolanus doesn't even acknowledge his presence.

There are other Avoxes in the Plinth household, of course, but they hardly interact with Coryo. He isn't obedient, he isn't anything bar borderline catatonic, and they've learned the hard way what that leads to.

Eventually Coriolanus is coaxed out into the greater Plinth residence, and Sejanus treats him nicely enough, but Coryo cannot bring himself to eat. It's too painful on his throat, the food given to him far too rich, Sejanus far too sweet. He cries.

They settle into a new normal, but Coriolanus struggles to pick up the sign language the avoxes use. Not that Sejanus would understand it. Sejanus procures a notepad and pen for Coriolanus to write out his thoughts. It is confiscated by Strabo.

Sejanus misinterprets Coriolanus' eventual acquiescence to his circumstances as comfort. He thinks Coriolanus is becoming content in his company; instead, he has allowed the overwhelm to consume him. Coriolanus feels safer in Sejanus' presence, but not safe.

Coriolanus has nightmares often, and sleeps poorly. It is late one night in Sejanus' room, and he is reading a book, Sejanus reading out the words. They are sitting next to each other, and Coriolanus tires, eventually nodding off with his head on Sejanus' shoulder.

Sejanus begins to enjoy having Coriolanus at his beck and call, just as Coriolanus becomes accustomed to following orders.

It is another late night when Sejanus' hands begin to wander. It is not something Coriolanus has anticipated. He lets it happen anyway.

What is the main lesson of your story? Why did you choose it?

It tackles how prejudice and biases deter us from forming meaningful relationships, uniting towards a common goal, and being better versions of ourselves. While biases as an adaptive tactic are not inherently evil or negative, it is fascinating how the mind and one's thoughts can take precedence over facts and ignore circumstances, leading to much conflict. A solution to this is compromise, but ultimately, it is the willingness to halt one's own thoughts and be open to others' opinions that will lead to better understanding of each other and actual resolution of conflicts.

Now, I didn't really deliberately "choose" this. My characters formed this themselves and I only discovered it while watching videos on psychology. And I find this quite funny for a story whose premise is "idiot kids in magic school serve detention".

What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?

It started with the name of the magic school, Heartwood Academy. I thought it would be cool to have the school have a literal tree called "Heartwood" in the grounds. RPG Maker MV also contributed to the worldbuilding since I wanted to have a system that would make sense both in terms of writing and in terms of playing a game.

Things have since developed from then. Kaleidopolis, where Heartwood is situated, became a hub for mages, trade, and knowledge. My philosophy in doing its worldbuilding is that, magic is powerful and can be treated as a science - much like the soul/mind is in psychology - and hence people can determine laws and guidelines for magic to go by, which they can use to propel technology and society forward. Or, well, to form biases and enact prejudice.

What are your MCs trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach them, or help the reader grow as a person?

My characters just want to get through another day as a teenager alive. (Please forgive them.)

Since I've only been writing oneshots or other short stories tackling more complex stuff, I wanted to make something bigger but simpler. I centered on making a group of three be tasked to accomplish one goal, but have vastly differing personalities, backgrounds, and perspectives, which naturally causes much conflict despite how simple their task was. And as I've brought up before, I wanted this story to be an event that, during the moment it was happening, was a huge annoyance and frustration, but looking back at it as an adult, is a source of much laughter and embarrassment.

I wish for my writing to be a good influence for others, one way or another. I cannot control what people think of me or of it, but I at least want to leave a positive impression.

When did you start writing it?

I started writing the novel about 2 years ago. For someone like me who tends to get side tracked a lot, I think I've done plenty of good work for this project.

But Magia itself was born about 3 years ago as an RPG. I'm thinking of going back to it after completing the novel to at least make it a serviceable demo.

How many chapters is your story going to have?

The main story occurs in less than 30 chapters - which is lengthier than it should be, but I really want to get detailed with the characters' thought processes and how they arrive to the conclusion that they should indeed work together.

There's also side series that occurs in 5 or so installments explaining the characters' past right before the main trio were students at the school.

Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?

Original content. IDK where I'm going to post it yet, but I plan to make it free to read with MAYBE an option to donate. (I can't look into writing as a profession at the moment. I am hesitant about associating this passion of mine with money matters.)

Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers?

It's never going to be good or perfect if you don't allow yourself to think of your work as good or perfect. Trust in yourself, be humble enough to say, "This is all I can do for now," and welcome your flaws with open arms.

yes i doubt and i despair but. i literally could not have it another way. i cannot choose to stop believing in my god in much the same way an atheist cannot choose to suddenly start believing in my god.

i doubt and i despair and i donate what i can. i think any religion tests you. i think when you believe in forces greater than those on earth you are naturally inclined to doubt and despair about it.

i pray for all who are experiencing pain and terror, because that’s all i can do. scripture won’t have the answers we seek, because it was written by humans just like us.
