but what is it with some pixel art games being so low contrast... I was finally going to give in and try out a farming sim lots of ppl enjoy despite the portrait art being not entirely to my tastes and then the pixels and environment are sooooo low contrast it made me change my mind again....like you do not have to be scared of dark colors and borders. Outlines. Smile.

Your Friend Silver (Elias) by @uuberwachen ! this was such an INSANELYYY well written story and it stuck with me for DAYS. it really slots in the space in my mind that holds the classics and the twists and stuff with it genuinely got me. i cant recommend it enough if anyone who sees it hasnt read it yet. i got so excited when i saw a dedicated ask blog went up. i wish i werent scared of sending in questions to those things

Pixel Blue: 3DS VIRTUAL CONSOLE (2016) by @calybunz ! ahhh this was such a cool one to read! id see updates on it incidentally n i can tell a lot of work went into it- it was definitely worth it! its well written with a lot of heart.. maybe im just a sucker for stories that focus on a sympathetic blue.. the ending made me so SAD dude what the fuck. though my favorite parts were probably the dream sequences- godd the imagery of it all was fantastic!

FIRE RED FREE DOWNLOAD (Infected/Abandoned RED) by @aibouart ... another one i saw the design of first and was just IMMEDIATELY struck by. i love when stories twist in-universe things that're generally treated as normal and mundane and use its horror potential! a parasect parasite outbreak where the protagonist gets infected by that and ends up full of mushrooms...? thats the kinda shit i love to see >:)

Glitchy Red: Retold by @lycankeyy / @glitchyred (idk which blog youd rather have tagged sorry). so i saw this when the official ao3 repost went up or got mentioned or something and it. really. resonated with me. like its hard to put my thoughts into coherent words, other than i had to just. Lay Down for the rest of the night after reading it and just feel whatever emotions struck me. it cut really deep but honestly- that's just fantastic. it's not often that i read something that makes me feel as viscerally as this rewrite did, and i have nothing but adoration for it because of that (we do have the plural bias which doesnt help regarding this lol). in my mind this is the definitive version of glitchy red.

no cus i totally understand your frustration, ive also quit splatfests for the moment until they get an overhaul

i suggest if you feel close to getting hateful to either shiver or shiver fans then maybe quit for a while for your own sake cus ive felt a lot better after doing so, im still really sensitive to negative comments towards frye or rude ones about shiver winning but taking some time for myself has made me feel infinitely better

ive been close to hating shiver before bc of how cocky and rude them and their fans can be but it doesnt really do anything but sour your enjoyment of the game more, so its really not worth it

i do have to say though, anyone who says "its just a game" reaaally needs to understand the frustration of people OTHER than them, sympathy is something a lot of people forget about when it comes to things that arent real life. just because it doesnt affect you doesnt mean everyone can shut off their attachment to the game or a character like a light switch; a lot of the time you dont know whats going on with them. i myself am really attached to frye cus i am hashtag autism creature and he brings me comfort, so anyone being rude to me about shiver winning really REALLY gets under my skin. its not entirely (if they were serious, if they werent then its not at all) their fault, but nintendo fixing the frustration of splatfests constantly keeling in one direction (which theyre supposed to do anyways but they havent) would definitely fix the issue. we need to find a way to have nintendo fix this, not attack anyone else for what bundle of pixels and text theyre attached to.

not everyone has really thick skin and if we want splatoon 3 to be more hospitable then we should try to cut down on the general splatfest bullassery in public spaces (being overly cocky and rude/blaming others in a way with no basis or truth behind it). its not something everyone can always do since we arent all perfect, but if we make steps in that direction then we could help more people enjoy the splatoon community rather than being eaten up by toxicity and spite

I don't hate shiver, I thought I did but I can't, she is still a comfort character (tho Frye is like, my obsession besides being my comfort character cuz I am also part part the 'tism XD), in a way, I like her dynamic with the group at least, she annoys me, yes, very much so, but I don't hate her

i actually think the S+A tier speak for themselves?

S tier: the goats. im aware its full of third versions but they just happen to be extremely good and added some insane shit to already solid base games (ok diamond and pearl werent solid but the foundation was there). replayability is insane for these.

A tier: the Oh Fuck Yeah games. not in any particular order actually. hgss is absolutely the best remake of all, only held back by the few inherent flaws of the Johto region and by not emulating Crystal enough. as much as i like bw, reverting back to only one region of pokemon never sat right by me, but it's been a while since ive played it, and nowadays i make much more of an effort to try out all new mons. so i could change my mind on this.

i liked usum more than sun/moon, if only for the post game. replayability isnt as high because of the cutscenes every 3 steps, and rotom dex is annoying as shit. aside from that, insanely solid story & postgame imo. red/blue and gold/silver are brimming with weird places in their regions and are chock full of in game lore and legends, which i really like. the ruins of alph & pokemon tower are some of the best locations theyve ever made imo

B tier is the "good but couldve been better" tier. lets go is insane for shiny hunting, but it stops at that imo. the new rival is garbo. sun and moon are good, but the postgame + alola in general is just lacking enough in these games that they dont reach A tier for me. loveeed the island challenges tho. alola itself has just such a good vibe. you really feel like its about community rather than competition. legends arceus couldve been insanely good, but i have never felt as ripped out of a pokemon game as i did when i walked through that cave in the coronet region and started seeing stray pixels around my character. which wasnt a one time thing btw this happens to anyones game & every time as far as ive seen. its gonna sound dramatic but this combined with other graphics glitches made it so clear i was playing a game that it just took me out of the adventure entirely. this is where the graphics glitches really started, and they havent stopped since.

C tier: yellow is just kinda there? i dont care for starter pikachu. i want to, but it gets killed when breathed at, so. idk. the gimmick doesnt work that well for me. sword and shield introduced some insane mons that i love and i want to call it solid real bad, but the story was hot garbage even for pokemon standards, and while the wild area was a great idea, the execution was lacking & because what i assume is a time crunch, the towns were boring as shit as well. diamond & pearl are mediocre to bad, with a great story and mediocre to bad execution, and i shouldve put oras in the :( tier, but the postgame is worth it.

actually im gonna rant about oras. i was so hyped for it but, just, ugh. if youre gonna turn a 2d vague not-specified-what-a-character-is-doing-or-feeling player character to 3d, at least do it correctly. 2d sprites where someone can fill in the blanks not seen on screen but hinted at in text (ie expressions, actions like handing someone something) work infinitely better than 3d sprites who show it badly. also still suffers from the desaturation curse that the 3ds games suffer from. postgame was dope, though. shame the mega latis are ugly as shit.

:( tier: garbage, im so sorry. SV's only redeeming factor is the area zero story. there is nothing else in the game that held my attention. fuck the star team, fuck the big pokemon quests, fuck the towns where you cant talk to anyone or find anything interesting or walk into a house and where every shop looks the game. fuck stores not even having an interior anymore. fuck this larger but emptier and stripped down world full of graphical glitches. fuck the weak ass gyms, fuck geeta, and fuck terrastalizing most of all. i will die for Koraidon & the professor fight fucking ruled but that's all the game had to it for me. do any of yall remember the gym leaders besides like, iono and the snowboard man? no you dont, stop lying to me. gen I put more life into lavender town by making a npc reference some ghost hand on your shoulder than SV does for any town, and they only had black and white 32mb cartridges or whatever to work with. for fucking shame gamefreak. give your devs some time to make a halfway functioning game.

firered and leafgreen do nothing new. i will not discuss the sevii islands. what the fuck even was that. boring. same with brilliant diamond and shining pearl. theyre lower than diamond and pearl because why the fuck did they not decide to remake platinum. what the hell was their damage. seriously platinum was RIGHT there. i caught a full odds shiny ghastly in that game and i still dont care about it.

4. When scared, does your OC fight, flee, freeze or fawn?

Caine- flight. eyes closed, he doesnt want to see whats going down, and hightailing it as fast as possible. thats what happened during checkpoint three in retri, and wouldve been his choice during heartbreak if they werent ! that said, after the bad dream (the one before we meet chen in the boneyard), he Did stay stock still, since he got the freeze instinct trained into him. (actually i just remembered they punched mitchel (from @hyper-pixels, hi) after they woke up from a bad void dream???? so maybe they just have a weird amalgamation of instincts that crop up depending on the situation).

Cyrus- its a toss-up between fight and flight for him– hes 100% a coward and not afraid to cut his losses when he thinks he needs to, but at the same time, hes a stubborn bastard and has a Lot of anger to spare. generally speaking, his first instinct is fight. its only after he takes the time to assess a situation when he decides what hes going to do though– if he thinks he has a fighting chance, hes going for it. interestingly, hes less willing to fight things now that hes a villain than he was as a hero.

Cecilia- fight. honestly, theres no debate. anybody who has the audacity to scare her is going to face one (1) Incredibly pissed off ceci and probably more than a few fresh bruises. she hates feeling scared–it makes her feel powerless, and thats something she swore shed never experience again. fighting her fears makes her feel like theres something she can do about it, even if its superficial.

Cynthia- its either freeze or fawn, and the farm taught her both <3 she cant bring herself to fight or run because both actions were punished. she found out quickly enough that just taking it gave her a lighter sentence overall, and she continued to use that. fun(?) fact, 'just taking it' pretty much carried her into becoming a fighter step, because her pain tolerance is high as hell now. she still takes the armor upgrade though, just in case.

19. How does your OC behave when enraged?

Caine- hah. ok. well, in most cases, he wont hurt you. most of the time, hed settle for a clenched jaw and a glare. also not above leaving the room, no matter how important the person theyre talking to is. id say they get quiet when theyre angry, but theyre quiet most of the time so itd be hard to differentiate between normal quiet and 'fantasizing-about-watching-the-light-leave-from-their-eyes' quiet. if they have a reason to hurt them though? if hes in his armor, or its otherwise possible to inflict sufficient damage to them? at least One bone is breaking. if the person is regina specifically, shes not leaving the interaction with her life.

Cyrus- tear the bitch apart. psychologically???? physically???? emotionally????? why not all three of them! it would really depend on the situation, but by now cyrus knows how to rein in his anger just enough to figure out what would hurt somebody the most. this could range from kicking their ass to giving them a breakdown by systematically targeting their fears/insecurities. hes a cunt, but hes Smart about it.

Cecilia- Lots of yelling. probably more than a few punches too. her anger is explosive and raw, and its very easy for her to get caught up in it. that said, it doesnt last long either– once the initial anger burns out, shes willing to forget about it. if you piss her off, its a matter of how good you are at weathering the brute anger, which, granted, can be hard to do considering ceci like to hit things. she likes to hit things hard.

Cynthia- that depends when in the timeline she gets angry, because those have very different answers. pre-retri ending, she Refused to show her anger. you could not force her to. echo may end up being slightly more erratic if she got into an argument or something like that, but that was it. but the minute ortega accused her of being a regene copy? that switched up Quick. if she was going to be seen as a monster and a fake, fine, shell play the part. nowadays, getting her pissed means you have a target on your back, and not only is she patient in ruining your life, her high caution means its very difficult for her emotions to blind her. she acts cold, nearly apathetic, but rest assured shes finding out exactly what makes you tick.

OMG YES!!!!!! I cant tell you how happy i am to meet another fnaf fan!! I also have been a fan since Fnaf 1 as well and yeah i do agree that a game about haunted animatronics probably wasnt a good thing for young kids (i remember being so scared of the dark back then bc i would think that either Foxy or Freddy will jumpscare me from the shadows) but like it was such a huge thing back then, every youtuber were doing Let’s Plays and I still remember very fondly of playing the first game in my cousin’s phone as i lock all the doors til it ran out of battery because i was a scaredy cat, such good times..

Ok so my favs are Sister location and the Pizzeria Simulator. I love those two because they are more of the story driven games unlike the others which just have you sit in the office and have the plot be in the pixelated mini games (i dont hate them bc they have their own charm in itself but i just wanted the story be more direct than subtle, if that makes sense..)

Wait, what other Fnaf songs do you like other than Left Behind? I remember jamming to “the Mangle song” and “just gold” on loop that whenever i sing those songs under my breath, my friends, who werent into fnaf, would give me weird looks. Also have you ever watched Game Theory? I used to love going home and just watch Matpat going insane trying to piece together the lore. I still watch his old Fnaf videos, they’re still great and it’s nice to look back to see which theory was right and which was wrong. OH AND ALSO i was so happy to see Matpat in the Fnaf film. When did you get into art?- tracing dragon ball z screenshots in gradeschool KJFHGK. i dont think you would ever guess that looking at my art today 😭 i was also drawing yoshi on any piece of paper that existed, eventually wanted to draw better yoshis that werent traced. i would say i really "got into" art in 2015-2017ish when i started actually trying to draw more complex things and wanted to find new ways to draw, eventually going digital to make some zelda fanart. definitely took it more seriously around 2020 when you can see a MASSIVE jump in improvement bc i started actually having fun lmao

How would you rank your art? (poor, mediocre, good, etc.)- i would rank it as "getting better!" dont wanna say GOOD bc i wont agree with that a few years from now. and wont say bad bc it's not bad! it makes past-me ecstatic and makes future-me wanna improve just to see what i can get into next :]

Before I reblog more post about the TOH i just want to make clear I REALLY LIKED THE ENDING OF THE OWL HOUSE! IT WAS SUPER GOOD!

Like I'm usually super picky with endings but this felt very good and satisfying

To all those people saying it felt rushed and there were many plot threads loos Ei say WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING?

For a rushed/cancelled show i was really surprised it manges to solve most plot threads in just 44 minutes! Besides more lore ragarding the owl beast i don't think there was anything left unsolved! Each character arc was properly finished!

Like besides the owl beast my only gripe was we didn't get more content about Caleb Wittebane and everything that went down but I already expected that!

Like what I wanted was for Caleb to have his own voice and tell his story instead of it being told by others(and therefore warped) because I wanted people to truly knew him, and his legacy to not be tainted by below anymore (so hunter could see Caleb was more than just another witch hunter or for the clawthores to know his origin) but i always knew for that an episode a la A tale of two Stans would have need and that was possible with the cancellation/time constraints.

We already got a general idea of what happened with both the Hollow mind pictures and Masha's retelling of the story. It's not like we werent given info about we were just missing details.

But that's it! Details!

But that's something that wasn't as necessary for the plot.

As as much as it hurts me Caleb and his story also worked perfectly left as an open history (thus giving them more a sense of a folklore story that haunts the narrative)

I didn't need an official confirmation of Evelyn being Clawthornes to know it, Danna left all the pieces there for us the viewers to pick it.

The same with what went down with Caleb in general.

The same to know Odalia and Alador got divorced and she was cut from her kids lives.

Raeda are together even if there wasn't a onscreen wedding.

The bat queen and it's palismen found a home.

Or how the fight between the archivist and the titans went.

Or the lore behind the archivists.

Even hootys Lore wasn't really needed for the show ending.

For such a short time they had Dana and the crew did an amazing work of closing on screen stuff that need to be closed that way and for less important things they left enough hints for us to viewers to pick up

That's an amazing feat!

what do you do in petz + how the fuck is spam tong in petz

ok, so! petz, or in this case, PF Magic Petz specifically, is an old, OLD pet simulator game from the 90s! it's made to run on doo-doo potato computers, and uses it's own wacky technonogy called, and bear with me, "ballz", to render the pet models.

there's other games by pf magic, but we'll focus on petz. before they became stinky ubisoft petz. (ubisoft bought petz) nono ignore that. this is PURE FUCKIN' MAGIC PETZ! (thats what pf stands for)

you adopt a dog or a cat... and you take care of it! and unlike most modern pet sims - your pet truly has a personality of its own. for the game's age it's actually surprisingly complex, and the community is finding new things each year! i believe just last year (or two years ago??) we found out petz have FAVORITE COLORS.

each pet is unique in their own way!! signature animations, favorite foods, what relationships they have with other petz, how you've trained them... one pet may love being fed cheese, while the other may not.

of course there's also personalities for each breed, as each breed has it's own personality. i can't explain this one well, so give this a read!

i used to play petz a lot more back then, nowadays i just check in on it sometimes, but the genuine connection you may get to feel towards your silly guys is real.

fun fact i only adopt cats. i dont do my breeding from scratch but the guys i adopt from other people or PUGS (petz universal game site) (i hope i got that right) i dont like the sounds dogs make. i still need to finish graphics for all my cats. heres some of them. i love them.

what really makes this game is the community! it's a small, but surprisingly lively and friendly community! many of these people may even be twice your age, enjoying this silly pet game online with everyone, it's wonderful! the game is very moddable, and people make their own breeds, toys, areas... anything you think of, it can be put in this game with enough time and creativity!

some people make realistic, breeds, and some people make Silly Guys! like me for example! i'm really into fan-made media petz! it's how i got into the game, after all! i've made some hexied (modded petz) of my own!

also, most people around the petz community have their own websites! for their downloads, shows, or to show off their petz!! what you can do is endless. i made my site because of that, though it's in constant disrepair and i SWEAR one day i will move to neocities.

and yes!! shows!! people do shows!! you can pose and take pictures of your petz and it'S actually a very pixel precise thing, trying to get your pet to do a show pose! people do these shows on forums and even give each other little graphic trinkets like badges!!

speaking of graphics... STAMPS!! petz fans love stamps!! i collect some, too, but my collection isnt as impressive as some other people.

people even have stamps for their own sites, that's where these come from!!

Software Pūmanawa Object Creation

In this post I will illustrate my process of creating an object in Adobe illustrator 2024 using the skills I have learnt over the past week. I've got to admit this was not a simple process, and I probably did not choose the best object- or animal. In whch i chose to create a cat.

First things first I set up my workspace, bringing out the swatches, gradient and layers tool. I also toggled the control bar at the top of the screen. For my file settings I had it set to pixels and RGB.

Then I begun laying down simple shapes, trying to get a rough understanding of where I wanted to place parts of the cat. I started by using the ellipse tool, creating a circular shape for the head. Next I used the rectangle tool and adjusted the shapes to my liking.

The next thing I did was place additional points on the circle using the + key. I used these points to drag out fur and a muzzle for the cat. I used rougly 3-4 different points around the head for this process.

My next stage was to begin shaping the body and tail of the cat, I rounded it out and created a tail that curves around the body. I did this by using the pen tool and creating some anchor points.

The next step was to try and make some sort of front legs, this, as you can see, did not go very well. it was incredibly difficult and it was very very fustrating. However, I still had to persavere. I created this first front leg using the pen tool.

The next thing I had to do, was create a second front leg. I did this by duplicating the first let and deleting the segments that werent visible from the perspective.

My next two steps were the creation of the Eyes and nose, and the hind leg. The hind leg was the difficult part, trying to get it to sit correctly. The easy part was the eye, I used the ellipse tool once more and then used the gradient tool selecting the second gradient option and then dragging the green up from the swatches. The nose I later changed but it was also fairly simple, just using the pen tool.

A quick short step was just adding the white shine to the eye, all that was nessacary was using the Ellipse tool again but having the stroke and fill set to white. This however is where it went down hill.

You might look at this and go 'hey! thats not the same cat!' its because it isnt, excluding the head. I ran into an issue where when i went to fill the body there was a giant invisible white square, I tried for ages to fix this but only ran into more issues. One of the ways I tried to fix the problem was entirely redoing the body, which is why the shape changed so drastically. After googling and searching for solutions and finding naught I decided on just making the cat white, which wasnt my plan but it was the only thing I could think of. As for the coloring I added an inner ear and redid the nose, setting the stroke and line to two diffrent pinks, one dark and one slightly lighter.

My last and final step was adding some sort of shadow, as the body is nearly fully incolorable I went for adding a shadow to the bottom of the cat and the front leg. You can actually see a bit of the problem square on the front leg shadow. It is incredibly fustrating. This above is the final version of my design. Though not entirely happy with the outcome ( because of the coloring issues ) Its cute enough and i think it demonstrates my learning. I also seperated what I could into layers.

Overall, the most difficult and slowest part was definitly the coloring process I chose the cat because I like cats and know their general anatomy, but I think id choose maybe a building or something next time. I definitly need more practice with the pen tool as its still a bit difficult to wrap my head around.

for the longest time, Apple has tried to make repair from vendors that werent chosen by Tim Cook's kiss of approval essentially impossible, and that was the programming of codes into displays or batteries, so that if you would get your screen changed the OS would be able to figure it out that it wasnt "genuine"

or how samsung is trying to patent right now a "pixel arrangement" that would essentially make the import of any OLED display into the US illegal

or how so many manufacturers are soldering every fucking thing on the motherboard, so that if one storage nand fucks off you might aswell throw a 1500$ (or sometimes more) device in the trash. who cares that if it wasnt soldered you could just change your ssd for 50$. that would benefit the consumer! that cant happen, this is capitalist america!

im not entirely sure about the deal with john deer tracktors, but john deer is the biggest tractor vendor, at least in the US, and afaik it has made impossible for farmers to get the pieces needed to repair them. "oh this one small yet essential lever on your dashboard broke? too bad, you cant get the part yourself, you haveto send this big ass 4 ton tractor to our shop 2 states away."

it all comes from corporate greed. companies want to get more and more money from consumers and because nobody fights against them and because politicians love to suck off the money-cumming dicks of corporations, they keep doing whatever the fuck they want

well, there are people that fight back. Like Louis Rossmann. and i recommend checking his youtube channel regardless of what opinion you have after reading this. but in the end there's not much he alone can do. he's just one man owning a repair shop, trying his best to be a thorn in the side of politicians that oppose the right to repair

Its quite a bit harder to show in pixel art and sometimes I have to just flat out not include them for visual clarity, But here's a fun detail - Most people in-world who are born with an elemental alignment end up getting a rough birthmark of their element somewhere on their body. Commonly under an eye, but it can appear elsewhere. They tend to also come in somewhat incomplete and messy, so it is tradition in most places to get it filled in and designed as a tattoo to make it look nicer! Adama, Ria, and Selvin all have one or multiple which were filled in and had the design altered a bit based on where they came from. In the image is kindof a way I thought about where some of the altered designs might come from, the different districts of the city would each generally be dedicated to an element, and would have their own design based off the city's emblem. Inner districts ( inside city walls ) have solid symbols, and outer districts outside the walls would have symbols done in three parts. Outer districts are typically multiple villages or towns which have grouped together economically and obtained a seat on the council together by doing so. Typically a citizen that has the same elemental alignment as the district they live in will choose that district's emblem as their tattoo design, as a symbol of where they came from and their home. To anyone living in the city or nearby areas, it would be very easy to identify where someone is from, but someone on another continent? They might find your symbols completely unfamiliar. Now that i think about it, there should actually be custom designs for those who werent born with an alignment but still wanted a unique tattoo for themselves. Some could also just opt out of their district's emblem and get a custom one anyway. Definitely need to figure out more designs for these, heh.
