I absolutely HAD to draw something for @phoebepheebsphibs's DTIYS (based on this pose)! I decided to mix things up a bit by experimenting with a more limited color palette, which was a pretty fun challenge.

#dream discusses bsd 🖋️#dream doodles 🖋️#cheez dtiys#this took between 6-8 hours. I don't know the exact time since I wasn't really keeping track#anyways this would've come out quicker if I hadn't put it off for a few days but I really needed to take a break since it got frustrating#the bg and skeleton were already done but I was really stuck on what to do with chuuya and I even scrapped the original pose I had for him#it was too difficult given my current skill set. but I can see how i've improved since my last major piece (aka my own dtiys)#but yeah. also disregard his gloves I literally forgot that and I didn't want to detail his actual hands so. gloves it was. yeah.#for my sake just pretend that he either forgot or just activated corruption suddenly so then he'll rip them off anyways#still drew his hat blowing away amidst the flurry of feathers though#oh also this is 16 chuuya. 22 chuuya's hair PAINS me to draw so I went the gay little ponytail route#design notes include making his coat have fur to reference how he was based off of a bearded vulture#also his wings were very fun to draw. I used an actual picture of a bearded vulture as reference too#I got a little lazy with the ram skeleton but the skull has the most amount of effort put into it#I considered adding remnants of flesh still sticking to the bones themselves but bearded vultures primarily eat bones/bone marrow anyways#also technically I used this dtiys as a way to test out my art program's filters with the blurring of said ram skeleton. really adds depth#CEO of nonsensical backgrounds. that's a forest I just also got lazy with it. not the main focus of the drawing#I do like the backlighting and the corruption marks though. very proud of how that turned out. this whole thing was experimental#not sure if i'll hate this piece eventually but I'm proud of it at the moment so reblogs are greatly appreciated#dtiys#dtiys entry#bsd#bungo stray dogs#bungou stray dogs#bsd chuuya#bsd fanart#bungou stray dogs fanart#bungou stray dogs chuuya#bungo stray dogs fanart#bungo stray dogs chuuya

i wanted to see what a piece would look like if i finished it in my three main mediums, pencil, ink, and watercolor (+colored pencils) >:*)

SO. i did these in the order theyre presented#which means that the pencil was done first#and by the time i got to the watercolor id drawn this same picture quite a few times#so if the quality seems to improve thats more than likely a matter of repetition and the benefit of past foresight or whatever#like yamatos shin is too small in the first picture.#and i noticeably lengthened it in following pictures. i also shortened kakashis thigh a little bit#yamatos torso looks really long but thats partially because he's slid back a little bit—his flack jacket is up high and you can see#it gapping at his shoulder#but ultimately that doesnt make the anatomical weirdness completely forgiveable so if i drew this again id do it differently probably#THAT SAID IM STILL SOOOO HAPPY WITH HOW THESE TURNED OUT#drawing the same picture over and over and over again? kind of great actually. i recommend it.#if you want to try doing this and you dont have a lightbox (u dont rlly need one) just like. take one drawing you like#and a blank sheet of paper#and tape it to a window thats getting a LOT of light#and then trace ur old drawing's bare bones (the forms. u know)#and then once you have that down. draw on top of it. or use new materials#it allows you to preserve ur previous drawing also which is great#once i was doing a commission and i realized i got the room i was drawing the characters in backwards#so i just. turned the paper around. put it against the morning window. and traced the now-mirrored image onto a new sheet of paper.#saved SO MUCH TIME LMFAO#the paper on the last picture is different and more yellow in tone so thats why the color is weird there ajxjskhfjahx#anyway happy testostone tuesday to all who celebrate 💚 love you

Hard year for drawing ideas, so I redrew this old one of Gale and Claire from 2009:
Proportions have improved drastically in the intervening years
